This story is a prequel to "Odd Timing"

...

The humid air in the jungle buzzed with the sounds of life, the night warm and fragrant with blossoms and the earthy scent of damp soil.

The calls of unseen birds echoed through the dense foliage as Blossom and Princess strolled hand in hand along the lantern-lit path that wound toward their private chalet.

The path crunched softly beneath their heels, a symphony of exotic scents rising with each step – jasmine, plumeria, and something sweet and unfamiliar that tickled Blossom's nose.

Above them, a moonlit canopy of intertwined branches painted intricate patterns on the path ahead.

Princess glanced sideways, giving Blossom's hand a playful squeeze. "I still can't believe you dragged me out here. No luxury cruise? No butler service? Just… trees?"

She wrinkled her nose, the moonlight glinting off the diamond earrings she'd insisted on wearing, despite Blossom's pleas for practicality.

Blossom rolled her eyes but grinned. "It's called nature. People pay a lot for this, you know."

Princess smirked. "Weirdos. I could've booked us into a luxury penthouse on an even more luxurious ship. The kind with a helipad and a personal chef who makes soufflés shaped like poodles."

"That's exactly why I didn't let you." Blossom gave her a teasing nudge. "What's the point of me planning a trip if you swoop in and make it five times fancier?"

"Okay, okay." Princess raised her hands in mock defeat, but there was warmth in her voice. "You win."

"Did you see the look on that waiter's face when you asked if they had sparkling and still coconut water?" Blossom teased, glancing over with a playful grin. "He nearly fainted when you pulled out that limited edition Prada wallet."

Princess snorted, flipping her hair. "Well, excuse me for having refined tastes." She bumped her shoulder into Blossom's. "Besides, someone has to bring a little class to this wilderness."

Blossom chuckled, her heart light.

It felt good to be here, just the two of them, away from responsibilities and the pressures of their everyday lives.

She had saved for this trip for months, wanting it to be perfect for their fifth anniversary—a celebration of five years of love, growth, and trust.

As they reached their private chalet, nestled deep within the greenery, Blossom pulled Princess close, her breath warm against her ear. "I've got a surprise for you."

Princess arched an eyebrow. "Better not be another research paper. Though, if it's about that bioluminescent algae you were telling me about, I might forgive you."

They reached the entrance of the chalet, and Blossom swung the door open with a soft, "Ta-da!"

Princess stepped inside, her eyebrows lifting in genuine surprise.

The space was small but softly illuminated with fairy lights strung along the ceiling beams, and candles flickered warmly on every surface, their scent mingling with the lingering aroma of the jungle.

A simple, beautifully arranged dinner spread sat waiting by the window, where the view overlooked the moonlit jungle, a blanket of stars sparkling above the swaying canopy.

"Blossom…" Princess whispered, glancing around the cozy space. "You did all this?"

Blossom shrugged, trying to downplay her nerves. "Yes. I wanted tonight to be special."

Princess turned toward her, the teasing edge from earlier gone. Instead, there was only affection—quiet and sure—glimmering in her gaze. "It's perfect," she said softly.

The evening passed with easy conversation and laughter.

Over dinner, Blossom shared updates about her latest science trials—her work on a drug that could enhance the immune systems of non-superheroes. Princess listened intently, resting her chin on her hand as Blossom's red irises lit up with excitement.

"You know," Princess said, "I could ask my dad about giving you a grant. He throws money at less worthy causes, like that opera about singing hamsters."

Blossom shook her head, smiling warmly. "No, thanks. I don't want people thinking I only got ahead because of you." Her gaze softened. "I love you, and I appreciate the sentiment. But I want my work to mean something on its own."

Princess reached across the table, her fingers brushing Blossom's. "I know." Her voice was quiet, filled with understanding. "But I just… I want to help you in every way I can."

Blossom squeezed her hand, kissing it softly, a flutter of warmth spreading through her chest. "You already do."

When the meal was done, they retired to the bed, the glow of candlelight still filling the room.

They shared a shower, giggling as they lathered up in papaya extract shower gel and carefully caressed each other with care.

The small space, so unlike Princess's usual opulent bathrooms, brought them closer, their bodies pressed together as warmth radiated between them.

"We're supposed to be crammed up together," Blossom whispered, her breath tickling Princess's ear. "So that I can do this..." She trailed kisses down Princess's neck, stopping to nip playfully behind her ear. Then, she cupped Princess's breasts, teasing her nipples in the way she knew drove her crazy.

A shiver ran down Princess's spine, and she leaned into Blossom's touch. "Oh, I could get used to this," she murmured, her voice husky with desire.

Later, lying side by side in expensive lingerie, limbs intertwined, they talked softly about everything and nothing, the way they always did when it was just the two of them.

The air thrummed with a newfound intimacy, the vulnerability of their shared shower lingering in the air.

They savored the moment, the silence punctuated by the chirping of crickets outside. Blossom hesitated for a second, her fingers tracing the delicate lace on Princess's bra, then spoke quietly. "I know it's taken us a while to get here… but I've always wanted our first time to feel right."

Princess's hand found Blossom's, squeezing it gently. "Me too," she whispered. "I've never wanted to rush us." Her eyes, usually bright with mischief, were soft with affection, a depth of emotion that made Blossom's heart ache.

Blossom leaned in, brushing her lips lightly against Princess's, a kiss so delicate it was more like a promise. Princess responded, threading her fingers through Blossom's hair, pulling her closer.

Their kisses deepened, each one slow and filled with meaning, as if they were speaking without words. A language of love, whispered in the stillness of the jungle night.

After a comfortable silence settled between them, Princess gave a small, nervous laugh. "Hey..." she whispered, brushing her fingers along Blossom's arm. "You know we don't have to do anything tonight, right?"

Blossom smiled, her heart swelling at the kindness in Princess's voice. "I know. But I want to, if you do."

Princess's smile softened, and Blossom leaned in to kiss her, slow and sweet. They moved with the same care and familiarity that five years together had fostered. Every touch was gentle, each kiss an unspoken promise— I see you. I'm here. We're in this together.

They kissed then - soft and slow, like they had all the time in the world. Blossom was hyper-aware of her strength, every touch deliberate and extra feather-light. She didn't want to hurt Princess, not tonight. Not ever.

This was their first time consummating the relationship, and it had to be perfect.

Princess's hands explored Blossom's body with the same care, tracing paths of fire along her skin. Their movements were unhurried, filled with reverence for each other and the moment they were creating.

Blossom's heart pounded in her chest, a rhythm that echoed the symphony of the jungle outside, a primal beat that spoke of desire and surrender.

When they finally came together, it was like the world outside ceased to exist. Only the two of them remained, their bodies entwined, their breaths mingling in the warm air.

The scent of candles and papaya gel filled Blossom's senses, grounding her in the reality of Princess's soft skin against hers, the feel of her fingers twirling in the delicate curls of Princess's intimate area.

Princess straddled her, hungrily kissing her neck, her moans echoing the cries of unseen creatures in the jungle beyond their chalet walls.

They rested in each other's arms, the room quiet except for the sound of their steady breathing. A feeling of contentment settled over Blossom, deeper than anything she'd ever known.

Princess shifted slightly and reached under the pillow, pulling out a small, velvet box. "I have something for you," she whispered, her voice a little shy.

Blossom blinked, curiosity flickering across her face. "What's that?"

Princess opened the box to reveal a delicate silver necklace, a single pink diamond nestled in its center, sparkling like a captured piece of starlight. "It belonged to my mother," she explained, her voice hushed. "It's the most precious thing I own, and I want you to have it." Her eyes met Blossom's, earnest and full of love. "Move in with me?"

Blossom's heart stuttered, a rush of emotion surging through her. "You mean it?" Her voice was barely a whisper, choked with the sudden urge to cry.

"Yeah," Princess whispered. "I want you with me. Every day."

For a moment, Blossom just stared at the necklace, overwhelmed by how much love and care was packed into such a small gesture.

Then, without hesitation, she took it, her fingers trembling as she fastened it around her neck. "Of course I'll move in," she whispered, tears welling in her eyes.

Princess let out a relieved laugh, pulling Blossom into a tight hug. They both squealed excitedly but stayed clung to each other for a moment, wrapped up in the weight of what they'd just promised.

The future stretched before them, bright and full of possibility.

Then Blossom grinned and reached under the bed. "I have something for you too," she said, pulling out a small gift box.

Princess raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What's this?"

Blossom opened the box to reveal two matching silver bracelets, each with a delicate charm shaped like a heart split in two.

"One for you," Blossom said, fastening one around Princess's wrist. "And one for me."

Princess looked down at the bracelet, her smile soft and genuine. "You're such a sap!" But her eyes sparkled with unshed tears, and she squeezed Blossom's hand tightly.

Blossom chuckled, brushing a kiss against Princess's temple. "Takes one to know one."

Princess shook her head, her grin wide. "I guess you're right."

They stayed in each other's arms, the night folding gently around them like a blanket, the sounds of the jungle a soothing lullaby. And for the first time, everything felt exactly as it should.
