Magnus was so angry he couldn't think straight.
He stood in his apartment going over what Alec told him earlier. He couldn't believe it.
What gave Alec the thought that he could do that to Magnus, that he could throw away all that they've been through together.
He started to pace as he thought of Alec walking away from him and not looking back. He should've told Alec to stay and that he can't just walk away like Magnus meant nothing to him.
Before he knew it, Magnus was walking out of the door and making his way to Alec to tell him how he felt.
When he walked into the institute, he notice just how busy it was. Everyone was running around but he didn't spot Alec anywhere. He scoffed and started making his way to Alec's office.
As he got closer, he noticed that the lights were off so he didn't have much faith Alec would be there.
When he was standing Infront of his closed door, he felt his anger start to ramp up. Just the idea that Alec could be working like nothing happened made Magnus want to yell.
He knocked on the door and waited for Alec to tell him to come in.
No response.
He knocked again and tried the door knob but it was locked. This made Magnus's heart start beating faster because Alec had to be inside.
Magnus knocked harder and said "Alec, will you let me in, I just want to talk", only to be ignored with no noise inside.
He knocked louder, yelling "Alexander please just let me in".
Magnus put his ear to the door hearing nothing.
Just as he was about to push back and leave, he heard a faint groan coming from inside.
This set off alarm bells inside his head so he yelled again "Alexander" but was met with more silence.
Magnus could only imagine Alec in the dark too hurt to call for help.
He wasted no time and forced open the door, not caring about anything other than finding Alec.
His eyes wildly scanned the room as he turned on the light. His heart dropped when he saw Alec slumped over in his seat with a puddle of blood on the floor below him.
Magnus rushed over, screaming "Alexander" as he tried to find the bleeding. He gasped when he spotted the blood pouring from deep cuts in his arms.
Alec seemed to be passed out and Magnus couldn't get him to wake up.
Magnus froze for only a second before yelling out "Help someone get help".
He worried no one would hear.
He took off his jacket and pressed it into Alec's arm to try and stop the blood flow.
He called out for help again just as Jace rushed into the room. His eyes were wide as he spotted Alec's body slumped over.
He ran to Alec and used his stele to heal him. A moment later Alec's eyes popped open and he sat up, eyes searching around the room wildly.
When he saw Magnus holding him and Jace looking panicked, he pushed away, breathing heavily. He pushed his fists into his eyes as he remembered what he did before they found him.
When he looked back up, he saw both of them looking at him with concern and uncertainty in their eyes.
Magnus was the first to speak, sputtering out "Alexander what happened?" Alec just shook his head and started to look out of the room.
Jace grabbed his arm before he could even think of getting up saying "I could feel the pain you were in Alec".
Alec did his best to smile and choked out with a shaky voice "I'm fine now Jace, why don't you go see if Izzy's finished with her report".
Jace opened his mouth to argue but Magnus interrupted with "It's OK Jace, me and Alec will talk about this". Jace still looked concerned but still hugged Alec and leaving him and Magnus alone.
When it was just them, Alec avoided Magnus's eyes as he waited for him to speak.
But he didn't.
Instead, he walked over to Alec and pulled him into a tight hug. He hung onto Alec like his life depended on it.
Alec kept his hands by his side.
When Magnus pulled away, he kept his hands on Alec's shoulders. He was quiet for a second before shuttering out a breath and asking "Alexander did..." before pausing and looking back at the spot where Alec's body lay bleeding and still just minutes before.
He didn't want to admit it to himself but he saw where the blood was coming from and it was becoming more evident that Alec had done this to himself.
Alec eyes had stayed trained on the floor but finally met Magnus's when he finished his question, saying "Did you do this to yourself?"
Alec was silent and Magnus thought he would try to deny it until he saw a tear fall from Alec's eye. Alec continued to cry and finally nodded as he pulled Magnus back into a desperate hug. Magnus inhaled sharply and hugged Alec back just as fiercely.
Alec started to sob and pushed out the words "I'm so sorry Magnus, I couldn't handle it without you."
Magnus furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and responded "Then why did you break my heart?"
Alec just shook his had saying "I just wanted you to be happy. That's all I ever wanted. Even if it wasn't with me".
Magnus was confused but nodded in response. He pulled back and looked into Alec's eyes "You don't have to be without me ever again".
Alec shook his head and pushed himself away from Magnus forcing out "Don't you get it, we can't be together or you'll never have magic. You'll never be happy."
Magnus grabbed Alec's face and smiled saying "I don't need my magic. I only need you. Just promise me that you'll never do anything like what you did tonight ever again"
Alec tried to say "but.." but Magnus interrupted with "Please Alexander, lets just get you back home. I never want to leave you ever again."
Alec gave a soft smile and took a deep breath before saying " I love you so much Magnus".
Magnus kissed Alec's forehead and whispered back "I love you too"
