Chapter 14: Quest Ended, A Special Bond Begins Part 1
After a long drive, Knuckles, Eve, Jazz, and Wade have finally reached Green Hills as they listen to the song, The Warrior. Everyone continues to listen to the music as they continue riding the motorcycle back home.
"Well, here we are. We're finally back in Green Hills," Eve says.
"Yes. We shall ask Maddie to have a feast of celebration," Knuckles says.
"Yeah. We've got a lot to tell them when we get back," Wade says.
Eve sheepishly giggles, "Maybe, but I have a feeling that we're going to be in for an earful when we get back."
"Oh yeah…" Wade says, "Knuckles are supposed to be grounded, and you went with Knuckles along with the training plan."
"Chao Chao," Jazz replies.
Then Wade says, "Well, I'm sure as long as we explain to them you won't be in too much trouble."
"I hope so," Eve says.
Knuckles continues driving the motorcycle down the street and soon will be reaching home.
Back at the house, Sonic and Tails are sitting on the roof as they relax and catch some rays. Soon, Tails hears the motorcycle sound and sits up to see something coming their way.
"Hey Sonic, look!" Tails calls out.
Sonic sits up and looks over to see Knuckles, and the others riding on the motorbike to the house.
"See Tails, I told you they'll be back," Sonic says.
"Well, with Eve around, I'm sure Knuckles wouldn't get himself into too much trouble," Tails says.
Sonic and Tails make their way down as Knuckles parks the motorcycle at the front yeard.
"Hey Eve! Knuckles!" Sonic calls out.
"Hi Wade!" Tails says, and happily calls out, "Jazz!"
Jazz flies off and happily hugs Tails. Tails hugs her as well.
Sonic says, "Hey Knuckles! Wade! Eve! Glad to see you guys are here!"
He then asks, "By the way, where were you two?"
"Sorry about that, Sonic, but it's a bit of a long story," Eve says.
"All say," Sonic says, "Knuckles was supposed to be grounded, but disappeared. Then you and Jazz disappeared without much of a word, except a note saying that you and Knuckles had to do some important training. Well, also mention you decide to tag along just to be sure Knuckles doesn't get himself into trouble."
"And you guys were gone for days," Tails says, "Where were you guys?"
"As Eve said, it is a long story," Knuckles says.
"But, I ended up getting this at the end," Wade says, presenting the bowling trophy.
"Wow Wade, you won the tournament," Sonic says.
"Not only that, but he also beat his dad at the tournament as well," Eve says.
"Wade was victorious in his battle of the bowling tournament," Knuckles says.
Soon, Tom and Maddie walk out to see the group talking.
As they walk outside, Knuckles says, "He has most certainly earned the title as a Warrior."
"Well, I couldn't have done it without you, buddy. Of course, Eve and Jazz also help as well," Wade says.
"Well, we're glad that we can help, and you certainly got stronger since that adventure," Eve says.
Soon, Maddie approaches them, "Knuckles. Eve. Where have you both been?"
"I'm with Maddie on this one. Where did you two go?" Tom asks, "We were worried sick."
"We're sorry, Tom. We didn't mean to make you guys worried, but well…" Eve says, trying to explain.
Then Knuckles explains, "Part of the action is my own fault, but Eve and Jazz accompanied me on my quest with Wade for his Tournament of Championship."
"He means we were helping Wade get ready for his bowling tournament," Eve says, "I'm not sure about what happened before, but he said that the spirit of his chief explained that since he was the last of the Echidna, besides me, he needed to train an apprentice in the ways of his kind. And he decided that Wade and I were to become his apprentice."
"Really? Tom questions, confused.
"It's true," Eve says.
Then Maddie turns to Wade, "And why didn't you call me Wade about Knuckles and Eve being with you."
"Sorry Maddie, but, let us explain what happened," Wade says.
And with that, Knuckles, Eve, and Wade explain to everyone about everything. They explain how Knuckles and Eve are helping Wade train to compete in the bowling tournament until they've been caught by two G.U.N Agents, and Wade and Jazz are able to save them. Then how they meet Wade's mother and sisters, the bounty hunters. Wade ends up beating his former best friend, Jack. And lastly how Wade is able to claim his spot in the tournament. Then they end up in Reno and Wade is able to beat his father who abandoned him as child, and manage to get the two G.U.N Agents and the Buyer off their backs. And Wade, his mother, and sister are able to teach Pete a lesson.
After hearing the explanation, Sonic says, "Wow. Sounds like you guys have gone through quite the adventure. And still can't believe you didn't invite me for it."
Tails turns to Sonic with a dumbfounded expression, "Really Sonic?"
"What. It sounds like they're able to have a good time over there," Sonic says.
Eve sighs, "We were almost killed, Sonic. And I didn't want to see those G.U.N Agents after the incident in Hawaii."
"That's true," Sonic says.
"Still, what do you think the agents want?" Tails asks.
"Well, it turns out that those two wanted to sell us to some creepy guy so he can use our powers," Eve says. Then turns to Knuckles, "Luckily, we were able to take care of him, and those two agents."
"Yeah. It was a team effort," Wade says.
"That is true," Knuckles says.
"Chao Chao," Jazz happily says.
Maddie pinches the bridge between her brow as she sighs. She then says, "Alright fine…" then turns to Knuckles and Eve, "And you two are grounded. Well, Knuckles is still ground and Eve is grounded. You two are grounded for two weeks, and you both will be doing the yard work as well."
"We shall take our grounding with honor and uh, think of the worrisome we caused you," Knuckles says.
Eve says, "I do admit, we did deserve it for worrying you guys. We're really sorry. We should have told you more about what's going on."
"That's right. You should have," Maddie says, "But we're also glad to see you two, along with Jazz, are back home safe."
"Thanks Maddie," Eve says.
"Still, congrats on winning your bowling tournament," Sonic says.
"Thanks," Wade says.
"And also congrats on beating that schmuck of a father," Knuckles says.
"A what?" Tomo questions.
"Long story," Eve says.
