Chapter 8

It had been 2 days since her return back to her home town of Walkerville. She hadn't told anyone that she had returned. After sleeping of some much needed spacelag, Valerie had immediately rung up her sister Fiona to tell her all about her lastest adventure and meeting this mysterious man who calls himself "The Doctor". She explained to Fiona that something strange is unfolding and she is determed to find out.

Fiona was over the moon with her phone call and told Valerie that she would love to join her on one of her adventures some day. Valerie guaranteed to make that promise and that it will be during the summer break when Fiona is not teaching. Valerie asked how the kids were going in her class and Fiona went on to say that the kids are great however that kid Arnold is still sometimes a hard egg to crack "Just be patient sis!" Valerie told her as she gave Fiona some sisterly advise.

"See tell me Val, what was this guy really like? Was he alien?" Fiona then went on to ask, "As a matter of fact he is! He looks human on the outside but apparently he has two hearts and calls himself a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey!" Valerie cheerfully answered back to her. Fiona then went on asking a sorts of questions about this mysterious alien. Valerie also spoke about his human companion Clara who is from Blackpool in the UK.

"So your not the first human he's met?" Fiona asked, "No it appears that way!" Valerie answered. This made Valerie think, Fiona did have a point, who else has the Doctor met or know who is from Earth. Valerie sighed "Val? Is there something else i should know?" Fiona asked in concern "You went on this adventure to find yourself, to hunt for your real birth parents...do you think by chance this guy who calls himself "The Doctor" might know something?", "Quite possible Fi, he did seem very interested in me" Valerie replied.

Then Valerie quickly thought about what she had just said to her step sister, "I mean! Not in that way!" she quickly shouted. She heard Fiona laugh on the other end of the phone. "I get it! Anyway i've got to get to work, the class is currently working on a musical about flowers, what wonders will that lead too i wonder? i'll tell the kids that you say hi! Chat soon before your next adventure ok? Cya Val love ya!" Fiona wished Valerie "Love ya too Fi!" Valerie whispered just has Fiona had rung up. All she could now hear was the dial tone ringing in her ear.

Valerie sat in her butterfly chair in her little house and let out a breath of air. She looked around her living room. It was quiet, too quiet for her liking except for the ticking noise from a grandfather clock in the hallway. She was about to give her adoptive Mom and Dad call to tell them about her adventure when she could hear a unusal sound. The sound sounded like a leaf blower or even a hurricane but she looked outside her living room window and all she could see was a still sunny morning.

It sounded like it was coming from outside and it was getting louder, so she went towards her front door to investiage. "What on earth would that be, it does sound familiar though!" Valerie said to herself with a slight giggle. She turned the door knob and smiled and to her surprise, what had appeared in her front garden but the blue police box that she had seen on the planet Akhaten!.

Her smile grew bigger as the sound dyed down. The Tardis had landed in her front garden! The Doctor was here!. She wasn't even a bit concerned that it had somehow landed and broken a nearby bus sculphure. The double doors of the Tardis opened to reveal the bowtie wearing alien. "Doctor! Its you!" Valerie cried out to the Doctor.

He looked around and then step out placing his feet onto the grass "Ouch! Oh dear! I'm sorry about your...your sculphure!" he cries. Valerie run towards him in excitement "Oh that! Oh don't to worry! I've got plently of them in my garden! she answered back to him. The Doctor then got out his sonic screwdriver and began to scan the broken sculphure. It made its usual buzzing sound as the Doctor moved it around before he placed it in both of his hands and observed its reading.

"Is everything alright Doctor?" Valerie asked the curious alien. He then made a curious face before answering back to her "Phew! Ah yes! Everything is fine, just was making sure that i hadn't crush anything evil or alive! Are you angry that i have broken your sculphure?". She raised eyebrows "No no not at all...hang on what do you mean evil or alive?" Valerie quickly asked him in concern.

On went the Doctor "Oh thank goodness you see, i have had my fair share of accidently crushing things by my own feet or my Tardis! I've crushed a garden shed, a flower pot and now a sculphure which appears that it use to be a bus? Oh no not a real one i hope!". Valerie smiled and laughed. It was very rare that she got angry. How could she be angry with an alien who has two hearts, flies a Tardis and have a wonderful sense of humour!. He had completely dodged the evil or alive question that Valerie had brought up.

"Don't worry Doctor, it wasn't real! Now then what do i own this pleasure?" Valerie asked the alien, "Ah yes right then! How are you Valerie?" he asks her as he popped his sonic screwdriver away into his inside jacket pocket. "I'm swell thank you Doctor! she answered back to him with a smile. She could read his face, this was no ordinary visit. It was like he had come to see her about something serious but didn't know how to deliver it.

Valerie then invited him inside her house for tea which she knew the Doctor enjoyed. The Doctor jumped to the idea of being let into her house for tea "That would be lovely Valerie! he greatfully answered to her. She led the way and asked him if he would like a tour like when he gave her a tour in the Tardis "Well this is my little house, would you like a grand tour while we wait for the kettle to boil?".

The Doctor happily agreed to the tour, she smiled "Let the tour begin!" she announced to him. They went to each room and even went up to her personal observatory where the Doctor was very impressed "Your house Valerie! Its amazing! I just simply love its character and your interesting design!" he commented. "Why thank you Doctor! Its not much but its home, now lets go into the kitchen and i'll make you your tea!" Valerie simply said to the Doctor as it was now the end of tour.

"Oh, thank you that would be nice!" the Doctor politely tells her. Valerie led The Doctor into the kitchen and the Doctor immediately noticed that the kettle had somehow boiled without anyone or anything touching it. Valerie had been with him the whole time. "Is someone else here Valerie or did it somehow magically turn itself on?" The Doctor asked in giggle.

Valerie sharply turned around and looked him with a blank face but then he noticed that that earrings she was wearing lit up. The Doctor immediately felt that he might've upset her "Oh i'm sorry Valerie! Was it something i said?" he asked in concern nervously. Valerie then broke her blank face and turned it into a cheeky smile "Oh not at all!" she sweetly answered before grabbing some tea cups and tea bags to pour the tea in.

The Doctor remained slient as he watch her prepare the tea. She then asked him to follow her into the living room he even offered to help her carry the tea tray that had the cups of tea on it but she just kept walking in slience. Valerie asked the Doctor to kindly sit down before handing him his tea. "Ahh thank you! Very nice indeed! Your earrings? Do they normally light up like that? How are they doing that?" the Doctor asks her, "Oh these little things? I forgot i was wearing them shall we just say its magic?" Valerie told the man with a cheeky grin leaving the Doctor in wonder.

Before he spoke another word she sat down into her favourite butterfly chair and quickly went in for the kill by asking why he was really here and also how and where was Clara. As he was taking a sip of his tea he almost choked like he was startled by Valerie's sudden question. "Cough! Cough!" he began to cough and Valerie immediately went to pat him on the back "Doctor? Are you ok! Is this what you do to an alien who is coughing?" she cried.

In a few short seconds the Doctor was back to normal and thanked her for helping him out "Thank you Valerie! I'll always remember that! Clara's fine we just had an exciting adventure where we were investigating the mystery of the Crimson Horror!" he explained to Valerie. Valerie's eyes lit up as it did sound exciting but she really wanted to know why he was really here.

"Doctor, that does sound fansinating but something tells me that you are not just here for a good old visit, i have this feeling there is something you need to tell me and where is Clara now is she ok?" she gentlely asked the Doctor "Clara is fine i've dropped her back home" he jhappily answered back to her. The Doctor took another sip of his tea and began looking into her eyes before he softly spoke to her "Valerie, you are right there is a reason why i am here and i feel i am the only person who can explain this all to you! "exhales" Your not human!".
