When Sesshomaru finished praying, he came to stand beside him. Inuyasha was feeling awkward and didn't know what to say. So, he didn't say anything. They watched from a distance as families came up to pray according to their social ranking. Inuyasha listened to their thoughts while they were doing so and many thought Sesshomaru a fool for wasting money to construct it. However, the Abe family came up next. Ren was standing behind them and looking sullen. His eyes found him and he frowned.
When Ren began to pray, Inuyasha felt a burning warmth and grinned wildly. This was just what he needed. "A friend told me I should become affiliated with a god….I don't want power though…I don't need to be strong….I…I wish…there were others…that I could turn to…I wish I wasn't alone…so I never have to go back there…can a god fix that…?" Inuyasha scowled at the images he was being shown. He could see Ren's thoughts and could see some of what he'd had to endure in life.
Sesshomaru was watching his brother's reaction and held in a glare. Inuyasha suddenly grabbed his arm and smiled at him. "Watch what I can do aniue." He whispered happily. Sesshomaru watched his eyes glow gold, and an even brighter light shone inside the shrine. It was so bright that everyone could see it and they were bewildered. "I'm so awesome…" The lord could hear Inuyasha mumbling to himself.
Guards came quickly when the doors in front of Ren began to open. Everyone watched in shocked as a group of 27 people walked out of the shrine in simple clothes. "Badger youkai. You created life…?" Sesshomaru questioned.
"Aniue." Sesshomaru looked at his younger brother. "I am life." Inuyasha looked so happy, something he'd never seen before. His face soon turned serious, "That should help him get away from that crazy fucker…"
"Silence." Sesshomaru spoke to silence the crowd. "Stand down."
There were various men and women and even several children. The lord approached and Inuyasha followed behind. The people bowed, but Sesshomaru could tell they weren't bowing to him, and instead were bowing to Inuyasha. "Who are you?"
The group looked at each other before one answered, "The sun god did not give us names, but…" He turned to Ren. "We were created with a wish in mind. We are badger youkai of the sun god. We're here because you wished it…Ren." The people began to smile and crowd around him. They didn't have the awful smell of modern youkai.
"The sun god is such a being…?" Ren mumbled in shock.
"Since you are the sun god's creation. I will grant you land so that you might live and grow. Abe Ren will represent you and teach you of this world. I'll grant a jade rank of 4 stars for the glory of the sun god." Sesshomaru announced, sending everyone into a frenzy. Sesshomaru had just put Ren above his uncle in status.
"You must have a wonderful heart for the sun god to create us with your prayers!" One of the women exclaimed.
"You truly have the sun god's favor!" Another cheered. The kids were looking a bit confused as they looked between them and Inuyasha. Inuyasha held up a finger to shh them and they smiled. Inuyasha was happy. With this, the extinct badger youkai were his, and his power was also shown to millions, maybe even billions. They would all pray to him, and he'd get a lot of divinity because of it. He was extremely grateful to his brother.
Ren's uncle and family came close to them quickly. "Ren this is amazing. Our family has grown so quickly." The man grinned happily.
The new badgers looked at him confused. "Ew…he stinks." One of the kids said loudly.
"Yeah, it smells really bad here…like sun god-sama said it would." Another child whispered.
"Family?" An adult questioned.
"This is your chance." Ren flinched when he heard the words in his head.
Another badger smelled him, "You don't smell like his family at all…"
"Your hands. What happened to your hands?" The man who'd initially spoken to him grabbed his hands and examined them. "For something to bruise you…it must have been quite the injury." He frowned.
Ren only looked at his uncle, which made all the other badgers look towards him again.
"What are you anyway? You're not like us. You aren't a badger." A different one said. They were all becoming a bit agitated. The sun god created them to revive their species. They would never interbreed like the badgers of the past, and now it seems that this creature had hurt a member of their cete.
"Um everyone please calm down…" Ren spoke. The badgers were still looking at Abe and growling angrily.
"Badgers are extremely protective of their own." Inuyasha mumbled, wondering if his creations would kill the Abe man. If they did, he would reward them. The guy, while presenting as some kind and understanding man, was truly trash. Sesshomaru watched his eyes glow briefly, and then the badger's eyes all flashed as well. "For the glory of the sun god." Inuyasha whispered as he continued to watch.
"You are a despicable man! The sun god does not look favorably upon those who harm children!" The badgers began to growl and circle defensively between Ren and Abe. "The sun god doesn't value your life. You will never associate with our kind."
One of the others grabbed Ren's hands and began to heal him. It was a special trait he decided to bestow upon them. Ren's hands were healed in a flash and the woman reached for his face. He hadn't realized he'd started to cry. He could leave like this. He wouldn't have to hurt his friend…and there were others now. All because he prayed. He would follow the sun god for the rest of eternity. "Aniue…what are your laws on child abuse?"
"Imprisonment, castration, registration on a list that prevents you from being near children. The length, severity and punishments are decided based on the severity of the crime." Sesshomaru explained.
"That guy. The Abe one. You can get rid of him, right? Do you need him for something? I think he should just go die." Inuyasha mumbled, "…but that's not really my place so can you do that stuff you said? I don't know how bad is the worse imaginable…but I think imprisoning…beating…and torturing a child not even 50 years old should be the worse one, right?" Inuyasha frowned, "Who the fuck does that to a child?"
The badgers were growling and ready to attack Abe, who was trying to save face. "Enough." The badgers didn't react to his voice. He looked at his brother, "I have received a request from the sun god as the one who built the shrine in his honor." That got the badgers' attention. "Abe Matsunaga. You shall face the maximum severity punishment for the abuse endured by Abe Ren since childhood, along with any and all who did nothing to report or stop it. Seize him. Seize his staff and associates as well." The guards grabbed him quickly. "You will also face punishment for conspiracy. You planned to use Abe Ren in order to trick the prince, which is punishable by death." Sesshomaru didn't like the man anyway. It was time for him to weed his garden it seemed. He watched as the man was dragged away and his mate and children were taken as well. He turned to the badger youkai that looked pleased with his actions. "You will be transported to suitable land and given resources until you are acclimated. Guide them." Inuyasha hadn't noticed but a vehicle that could fit them all was brought, and they were hauled away after he nodded at them. "This is a day of celebration for the sun god, let us continue. People began clamoring to pray to Inuyasha afterwards. He and Sesshomaru watched from a distance and Sesshomaru looked on curiously, wondering if he would grant another wish like that.
"Thank you aniue." Sesshomaru nodded, accepting the thanks.
"You needn't worry about thanking me." Inuyasha smiled gently before turning to listen to the wishes and waiting for that perfect warmth. The nobles had come and gone, they were all so rotten so he knew he wouldn't be granting any of their wishes, it was when the commoners began to pray that his interest was piqued. He saw a large group of children going up, but a little girl was radiant. His eyes flashed and the temple glowed. The people were ecstatic. The doors opened and a man and woman walked out and smiled at her.
"Why only two this time?" Sesshomaru asked beside him.
"She asked for parents who would love and understand her. She purebred too." He answered.
"You resurrected her parents?"
"No, that's impossible for me. My partner deals with death. I can't do something like that without her permission and help. That's why I couldn't necessarily strike Abe down with my divinity alone. I'd be stepping on too many toes and he's not worth that. Besides, she's a pig and they breed fast. Her parents and siblings died in an accident when she was a baby. And there's like 4 left in the world." Inuyasha explained, watching the girl be so cheerful with a smile. Sesshomaru gave orders on how to deal with the newly created people and he and Inuyasha continued to watch.
"Can I ask you for power…?" Inuyasha was waiting for one of these. The sun was about to set, and he was so shocked it took so long. There was a young boy praying. He looked worse for wear and very frail, but his heart and soul were so full. He tapped his brother before quickly leaning on him. Sesshomaru was confused but watched his eyes glow and close.
The temple began to shine, and people began to cheer. "Power?" A voice questioned and power crackled through the air. The doors opened and a being floated out, silencing them. "And what are you going to do with my power little boy."
The sun god was brilliantly beautiful, but only a few could even look at him as eyes turned away at his brightness. "I'll take care of my sister…..if I was stronger…I could do that…I'll do whatever you want in exchange!" he said with conviction.
In his godly form Inuyasha smiled, "I know. Which is why I will grant you this." Inuyasha snapped and the boy let out a startled shriek. His sister, who was behind him screamed as well. "Now guard this shrine, keep safe my legacy and strength." When the bright light disappeared, people were blinking their eyes open slowly. "My precious sun inuyoukai." They heard the god's voice. The people could see the two now. Their hair was now a stark white and they had various red markings on their bodies. They wore red and gold clothing with golden accessories. Their eyes were a bright gold and the marking on their foreheads the symbol of the sun god. Inuyasha sat up. Those two would be perfect. He snapped and the temple glowed again before the doors opened to reveal 4 more children, with similar appearances and clothing.
"You created a new type of inuyoukai…?" Sesshomaru questioned in astonishment.
"Well, they're more of a recreation of something that already existed a long time ago. It's not really uncommon for inuyoukai to be created with the purpose of safeguarding a god's shrine and legacy. They're guard dogs. Shiro inuyoukai were the same for the moon goddess." Inuyasha pointed at his forehead. "I think the original name was just moon inuyoukai and it got changed over time to reflect appearance, and they interbred a lot with sun inuyoukai which is where the golden eyes come from. I think they're blue on the original moon inuyoukai." The 6 new sun inuyoukai bowed to the shrine. "They'll teach people how to pray to me and how to please me." Inuyasha was very happy with his shrine. With all the divinity he was gaining, he wouldn't be surprised if he had a breakthrough.
When the sun set, one of the newly created sun inu blew a horn. The young man then announced, "The sun has now set. The sun god will show his brilliance at first light." The six then retreated to the inside of the shrine.
Sesshomaru stood, "None should remain after the horn is blown." With his calm, menacing words, people began to hurry away. A feast would be held at the castle as the celebration continued. The Abe family was the main topic of the night and Inuyasha was sitting quietly and listening. Sesshomaru was being questioned about his connection to the sun god. Inuyasha could tell that he was getting annoyed.
"To think that the gods are real." One woman stated.
Inuyasha began to bounce his knee, that's not the conclusion he wanted. He wanted to be the only god on people's minds. He was selfish like that. "The sun god must be quite powerful; it's no wonder lord Sesshomaru is a devout follower."

They were all about the size of a human 12-year-old, and he was only about 20 years older, so the size of a 14–15-year-old human. He snapped and two people appeared in the temple. He figured he should make caretakers to help him out for now. He snapped again and a door appeared. They were all looking at the door curiously, but the new beings lead them inside. It was a space made with his divinity where they could live and play. "Thank you, sun god-sama!" One of the new ones said happily with a bright smile that Inuyasha couldn't help but chuckle at. They were very cute puppies.
"Inuyasha, would you care to have a drink with me?" Inuyasha looked up at the voice of his elder brother.
"Sure." Inuyasha shrugged. "Can we go drink somewhere else. It smells in here."
"Let's." Sesshomaru spoke and they took the door behind the throne. Sesshomaru led him through the palace to a nicely decorated room with a balcony. The night sky was on full display. Inuyasha sighed as he sat down in a comfortable chair and looked at the sky.
A servant set an expensive looking wine down and left the room. Sesshomaru poured him a glass and they sat in silence for a while before Inuyasha spoke. "Don't you ever get tired of being the king?"
"No." Sesshomaru responded causing Inuyasha to scowl. "Tired of the people who work under me. Tired of paperwork at times, but never tired of being what I was made to be."
Inuyasha nodded as he sipped the wine. "Holy shit this is strong."
Sesshomaru smirked. "It's a special wine I only sell to ancient youkai."
"Wow, were you made to be greedy and selfish too?" Inuyasha asked, wondering what was used to make such a potent wine.
"I restricted it to prevent deaths. The weaker ones will die if they drink too much, and it can be addictive." Sesshomaru explained while drinking from his own glass. "Do you like it?"
"Yeah, it's better than the shit the gods have for sure." The hanyou couldn't help but be surprised at it.
"What kind of gods are there?" Sesshomaru asked curiously. He was sure that there were many that were made up, but his brother wouldn't lie to him.
"There are all types really. Sun, moon, water, wind, earth, mountain, fire, spring, literally anything. There are even war gods, and gods of love and stuff like that. It's really wild there." Inuyasha watched his brother nod in interest.
"What about new gods? Or is there only a set amount?"
"Hmm. It's possible but it's extremely rare. I actually found out from my servants that the old man would have reached it had he not died. He would have been something like a new major god because of how powerful he was. Like, with power in multiple domains. Heaven, earth, and hell."
"Are your servants gods as well?"
"Oh, not at all. They're souls that chose to follow me. They're the ones the previous sun gods had, and they've just been sticking with me. Technically, they could pass on and be reborn, or they can go serve another god but that's really rare. Since no one trusts anyone there." Inuyasha had had many of the souls try to come and serve him, but he knew they'd be trying to spy on him for the other gods.
"What if they choose to not serve anyone?" Sesshomaru began filling their glasses once more as they spoke.
"They'll disappear eventually, soul and all. They're connected to me like my subjects are and I sustain them with my divinity. Quite a few of them did disappear before I returned. They were all really loyal to the sun god. I'm currently supporting my partners servants until they're reborn too."
The lord continued to nod as Inuyasha explained things to him. "So, your new subjects. Can you hear them?"
"Yeah. I can watch them too, a bit better when the sun's out but I can see and hear them all." Sesshomaru could see Inuyasha's eyes begin to glow a bit as he sat and began to space out. Inuyasha was checking on the badgers again and could see them sleeping comfortably. Ren was asleep with two of the kids huddled on his chest. He smiled gently before turning his attention to Sesshomaru and waving his hand. A shimmering light and scene could be seen.
They could now see his sun Inu. The five youngest were playing a game in the small pocket world he'd created for them. It was also connected to his temple in the god's realm, and he could see a few of his servants talking to the older boy. The children stopped suddenly and looked in their direction. "They can see us?" Sesshomaru questioned, feeling a bit unnerved.
"No but-!"
"Hi sun god-sama! Hi!" The children began excitedly waving in his direction while laughing and giggling.
"They're a lot more sensitive to my presence and divinity." Inuyasha sighed.
"Sun god-sama can I have a name?! Please?"
"Me too! Me too!"
"I want a beautiful name from sun god-sama too!"
Sesshomaru watched his brother scowl. "Ugh…I hate coming up with names. Fuck." Inuyasha groaned looking at them and hoping the badgers didn't also ask him for names. The youkai watched Inuyasha point at each of the unnamed sun inuyoukai and speak. "Himari. Hina. Nichirin. Asahi"
"Yay!" The two watched as the children began cheering and running around excitedly telling everyone their names.
"You will use the surname Taiyou. Remember it well."

Inuyasha pinched the bridge of his nose. That's why he hated naming anyone. He didn't even name his daughter. "Make sure you do not cause trouble for the others and your caretakers. Prepare for bed." He probably should have made them a bit older but figured they would bond easier while they're younger and have less disagreements when they were adults. The kids looked a little sullen but began to head into the building and prepare to rest. Inuyasha cut the connection and sighed.
"Do they pray to you as well?"
"Nah, not really. Only sometimes if they need something and they'll probably do so when they're scared or something. They're puppies after all." Inuyasha shrugged.
"Did you gain a lot from the ceremony?"
Inuyasha smiled happily, "Yeah, a lot of divinity, a lot of power. Even more influence. People are even praying at home. A little girl even set up a makeshift shrine for me in her room and prayed before going to bed. It's awesome."
They sat in silence a while longer watching the night sky and moon. They had a fairly good view of the city lights from their location as well. Inuyasha's mind wandered with the alcohol, and he snapped to a bit when Sesshomaru spoke again. "The divinity. It's the basis of your power? What is it exactly?"
Inuyasha thought for a moment before answering, "It's energy. Energy that I can use to manipulate things like life and souls, and stuff." He raised his hand and Sesshomaru watched something golden run across his fingers like dust. The hanyou then reached over and tapped him on the shoulder and Sesshomaru straightened suddenly.
