While the Avengers took Loki into custody, Tony, Kagome, and Logan rode the elevator down to the basement in silence, dreading the confrontation with Nodoka; even Logan wasn't looking forward to the scolding he would receive, but Logan was the Wolverine, and he wouldn't cow in front of his fiancee's mother. At least, he hoped he wouldn't. The silence in the elevator was nerve-wracking; finally, the doors opened in the basement, and everyone got out and headed toward the panic room.

Tony took a deep breath and opened the door. Souta suddenly slammed into him by Souta. The boy had tears when he looked at Tony, "Dad! I was so worried," Souta exclaimed.

Tony looked at Nodoka and saw her eyes fill with tears. This was the first time that Souta had ever called Tony Dad. Even though Tony was exhausted, he held Souta closer to him and kissed his head, "I'm okay, son. I'm not that easy to get rid of." Souta looked at Tony and laughed through his tears.

Tony looked up at his wife, who had tears in her eyes. Tony passed Souta to his sister and rushed toward his wife, kissing her and hugging Nodoka as best he could with her pregnant belly in the way. Nodoka pulled away from Tony and punched him in the stomach, who had removed his armor earlier, as hard as she could.

"OOF!" Tony exclaimed and rubbed his stomach, "What was that for?" Tony asked, slightly irritated; then he saw more tears gathering in his wife's eyes, and Nodoka lunged for him.

"For scaring me half to death with that wormhole stunt!" Nodoka said through her tears. She looked at Kagome, "And you, young lady! How could you be so reckless?! But I should have known you are exactly like your father!" Nodoka yelled at Kagome, who looked down, feeling awful that she worried her mother. It was short-lived when Nodoka hugged Kagome and continued crying.

Logan stood there and watched the scene. He felt a little out of place watching this family moment, but these people would be his family when Logan marries Kagome. Logan waited for Nodoka to also yell at him. After hugging Kagome, Nodoka turned to Logan. Logan couldn't help but swallow as the tiny Japanese woman approached him. She stood before him and stared into his eyes; Logan scratched the back of his neck, waiting for the lecture.

Suddenly, Nodoka hugged Logan as best she could. She pulled away and placed her hands on either side of his cheeks. She pulled his head down and kissed each cheek, "Thank you, Logan, for protecting Kagome; I will always be in your debt."

"You don't have to thank me, Nodoka; I would do anything to keep Kagome safe."

"I know you will, Dear," Nodoka answered.

Tony stared at his wife and the porcupine. He couldn't understand why Logan got off so quickly, "That's it? That's all you're going to tell him? That's not fair." Tony ranted, then suddenly stopped, "Wait. You knew they were dating?" Tony asked Nodoka.

Nodoka calmly turned toward Tony, "Yes, I did, Tony."

"But he's old! He's like 200 years old."

Nodoka sighed, "Sweetheart, Kagome was in love with a youkai that was 550 years old. And he mistreated her. Logan is nothing like that. He respects and loves our daughter with all of his heart. And I know Logan would never do anything to hurt her."

Tony glared at Logan, "This discussion isn't over, pal."

"I didn't think it was, Bub."
