It was their last night before they're going back to Konoha. Most of them are huddled up in front of the campfire talking and just enjoying everyone's presence, while the four Uchihas are huddled inside the armory, preparing for their mission. Sasuke was startled when Itachi made a visit inside his room and told him they'll be having their one last scout for Sakura before they leave. Despite Sasuke's recent argument with his brother, Sasuke showed gratitude for his brother. So Sasuke spent the last 2 hours placing all of Sakura's things inside her bag while Itachi filled him in with the plan for the night. He checked his bullets and Kusanagi for the last time and looked up at one of the very few people he trusts. He glanced at Shisui who was making a pun joke making Obito laugh while Itachi snickered at the two, containing his laughter in a very cool way.
Itachi glanced at Sasuke and raised a brow at him. Sasuke sighed and pointed at his watch. Itachi gave a small nod at Sasuke, Sasuke walked out of the room first. He waited for them in the hallway and walked together towards the entrance. The hallway was so silent and the Uchiha's used that time to think through their plans. It was their final retrieval mission and they wanted to do their best, not because they're the best team in the base right now, but because the person they're going to save, holds a place in the youngest Uchiha's heart. Knowing no other clan treasured love as much as the Uchihas. The elder Uchihas at that time saw the love in Sasuke's eyes, the sadness and pain he conceals with a cold stare. An Uchiha knows when another Uchiha gets hurts.
The three older Uchiha glanced at Sasuke who stayed silent for the remaining time. When they reached the entrance of the base, the campfire base fell silent and stared at the four Uchiha's at the entrance all silent and focused. Right at that moment, everybody felt the power of a true Uchiha, they could feel through the heavy atmosphere that screams power, intelligence, indestructibility, confidence, and strength. Kakashi stared at the four Uchiha's gathering every bit of their power and strength before moving towards them.
He glanced at the people and some girls had to hold back their squeals while most men envied and astonished the might of the Uchihas. He smiled when Obito's cheery face turned serious while approaching them. He glanced at Rin who was smiling softly at him. He looked back and saw Obito's face softened when looking at Rin. Shisui's flirty face at that moment disappeared and was formulating a backup plan in case everything gets messed up. Itachi on the other hand stood in between Shisui and Sasuke, thinking of consequences and talking telepathically to Shisui through the earpiece. Sasuke who stood silent and cold between Itachi and Obito finally looked up at Naruto who lifted a fist at him.
" Get her back " Sasuke smirked at him and bumped his fist to the blonds. He readjusted the strap of his Kusanagi for one last time and nodded at the Rookie 9 and Team Guy. Everybody smiled and waved at the Uchihas while the plane landed quietly on the ground. Everybody watched as the Uchihas boarded the plane and sped away. It took them a minute for the noise in the area to come back. Kakashi looked at everyone and noticed how everybody whispered about the scene that the Uchihas left. Kakashi mentally agreed with them and looked at Rin who was smiling up at him and pointed to the drink they left on the table. Kakashi and Rin walked to the table where Rookie 9 and Team Guy have huddled, he sat down and pulled out his orange book.
" Ey, Kakashi, you should have joined them since, you were surrounded by Uchiha's all the time making you one of them. " Kakashi chuckled at Asuma and shook his head. Naruto and his generation nodded at them. He looked at Rin who was giggling and agreeing with everyone. Kakashi sighed and glanced at Rin who leaned her head on his shoulder.
" Uchiha's are too cool, I may not fit the description Asuma. " Asuma and Kurenai chuckled at him and agreed. Gai gave him a toothy grin and placed his arm on Kakashi's shoulder.
" Should we contest who is the coolest then Kakashi? " Kakashi chuckled and shrugged Guy's arm.
" Maybe next time after the mission. " Rin nodded at Kakashi and looked softly at everyone who was staring at Kakashi and Naruto. Naruto sighed deeply and smiled sadly at everyone. He then looked down at his hands when Hinata placed hers on top of his. Hinata smiled at him and gave him a reassuring squeeze. Rin looked at everyone then smiled softly at them.
" For now, let's hope the gods will help us retrieve Sakura-san " Everybody silently agreed with her and everyone fell silent. Thinking and hoping for success in the mission. Rin held Kakashi's hands and leaned her head on his shoulder.
Sasuke stared at the 3rd base they had scouted for that night and so far, they only retrieved survivors and dead bodies and they haven't seen a single form of the pinkette. Sasuke wiped the sweat off his face and wished they would find her on the next base. He helped the elder board on the retrieval plane that would fly directly to Konoha and Suna. He held her wrinkled hands as she lay tiredly at one of the cabins in the plane.
" Y-young man, I pray that you'll find her and tell her how you feel. " Sasuke was startled at the woman and was about to deny her assumptions when she placed a hand on his heart.
" You m-may not notice it, but when you asked us about her, I see pain and longing, it may be wrong to conclude immediately but I definitely see the love in your eyes. " Sasuke fell silently then nodded at her.
" When you find her, tell her cause you'll never know when you'll get the next chance to tell her how you feel. " Sasuke gulped and nodded one last time at her and went out of the cabins and made his way to their plane where Itachi awaits for him.
" Sasuke, Obito did one final scout and didn't see her or clues leading to her. " Sasuke sighed and nodded, he followed behind Itachi who boarded the other plane. He looked back at the burning building and saw Obito walk up to him and patted his shoulder.
Sasuke crouched down while looking down at the 6th base they were going to scout and made an investigative glance around the surroundings. Once finding the area was clear, he glanced at Shisui who was above the entrance door, he looked to his left, a few trees away from him, and saw Itachi crouching the same as him but was a few feet above him. Sasuke pulled out his rifle and reloaded it with bullets.
" Itachi, we've got three guards at the back " Sasuke squinted his eyes, trying to find Obito's position. He pulled down his face mask, concealing his facial features. He looked at Itachi who stood up and grabbed the nearest branch.
" Ah, mid-level? " Itachi climbed up higher and pulled out his minigun and targeted the door. When he pulled the trigger, a tiny silver device popped out of the gun and struck the wall just above the door. Itachi looked down at the building and adjusted the grappling gun on his forearm. He pressed the button and a thin wire rope shot out and hooked at the roof beside Shisui. Itachi then tied the end of the rope to the bark of the tree.
Sasuke pulled out a zipline hook and climbed higher and jumped from one tree to another until he reached where Itachi stood. Sasuke then attached the hook to the wire rope. Sasuke did a safety tug and gripped the hook with his gloved hand. Before Sasuke could slide down the building through the rope and hook, Itachi placed a firm hand on his shoulder. Sasuke glanced at Itachi and raised a brow.
" Whatever we find in there Sasuke, know this is not your fault and that everybody did their best. " Sasuke sighed and shrugged off Itachi's hand.
" I know Nii-san. " Itachi nodded at him and attached his zipline hook behind Sasuke's hook.
" Don't worry Sasu-chan, big brother Shisui and Uncle Obito will find your Lil' princess. " Even from afar Sasuke could see clearly Shisui's teasing face and heard Obito's short chuckle. Sasuke glanced back at Shisui and saw his serious face again, he then took it as a sign to slide down through the wire rope to the building. Sasuke landed gracefully beside Shisui and punched him on the arm. Sasuke walked towards the middle of the roof and saw a rooflight. He gestured to Itachi who climbed up towards him.
Sasuke peeked through the rooflight and saw the dark room. Sasuke moved aside and waited for Shisui. When Shisui was finished typing on his forearm touchpad, he finally walked in Sasuke's direction. Itachi pulled a laser pen and drew a small circle on the glass of the rooflight, Itachi slipped his hand on the hole and unlocked the rooflight. Itachi softly opened the rooflight and crawled inside first. Itachi then crawled out of the little room of the rooflight leading him inside the building and looked around the room.
" coast is clear " Itachi crouched down and helped Sasuke and Shisui crawl out of the hole. Sasuke kneeled beside Itachi and looked around the room. The place was dark and only a few lights were on, some bulbs were flickering, waiting for their last energy to run out while others are still bright. Itachi moved on the corner and glanced down.
" around 20 feet down. " Shisui nodded and turned on his forearm touchpad and started typing on it with his right hand.
" I had already activated your sticky gloves but don't get too confident with it, it's still in its stage process. " Sasuke nodded his head at Shisui and turned on his gloves and saw the edge of it glow red. He placed his palm on the wall and pulled it slowly. He felt a magnetic pull from his glove to the wall. When he was confident that it was safe to use it, he slowly climbed down using the sticky glove. He stopped midway when he heard someone talking. He glanced down and saw a green-haired man wearing a lab coat. When the man entered a not-so-suspicious door, Sasuke continued climbing down and when he reached the floor, he saw a guard walking in his direction. Sasuke hid behind a pillar and when the guard was in his reach, he immediately pulled the guard by his collar and knocked him out. He dragged the guard's unconscious body to a nearby closet and placed it inside.
" Coast is clear " Sasuke looked around then signaled Itachi and Shisui from above. Itachi and Shisui climbed down as quietly as they could. Both landed softly beside Sasuke. Sasuke pointed to the closet and Shisui nodded and approached the closet. Shisui slowly placed a device on the person's temple and started typing on his forearm touchpad. Sasuke and Itachi started scouting the area then went back to Shisui when they were done.
" Found anything? " Shisui nodded and showed them a projectile map through his touchpad.
" We've got the map and now, we need to know what's in this building. " Itachi nodded and turned his back on the two Uchiha. " Obito? "
" Ah, Itachi? " Itachi glanced at the map and went back to look at the surroundings.
" Shisui's going to send you a map, could you check on the rooms he marked? We'll be splitting up and meet up at the area where we talked about. " They heard bang and thud, the three Uchiha's waited for the reply of the eldest.
" Sure sure, gotta go, need to hide the bodies. " Shisui smirked at Obito's reply and glanced at Itachi.
" He's pretty much challenging us. " Itachi snickered and nodded. Sasuke shook his head and looked at Itachi. Itachi sighed and handed Sasuke a few bullets.
' I'm heading east, I'll update as much as I could, the same goes for you both. " Sasuke placed the bullets on his waist bag and nodded at Itachi.
" Take care Sasu-chan. " Sasuke glared at Shisui and turned his back on them, heading to the door that the man entered.
" Be careful Sasuke. " Sasuke paused on his tracks and sighed.
" You too Nii-san " Sasuke then continued walking towards the door. He pulled out his gun and glanced at Itachi and Shisui and went on their respective doors.
Sasuke heaved a sigh and pushed the door slowly and he was greeted by a dark hallway.
Sasuke could feel his feet aching from all the walking, so far he entered a maze, not a room and the place looks old, like the ancient times kind of old. Sasuke sighed for the 8th time and was about to retrace his steps when he heard an explosion.
" Anybody heard that? " Shisui spoke through the earpiece.
" Ah, but I am sure it's not in my area. " Itachi spoke calmly but with a warning tone.
" Heard it but it's not that loud. " Obito spoke.
" The walls vibrated around me so it's near me, I'll check up on it. " Sasuke looked around and followed the banging sound until he reached a dead end, he placed his palm on the wall, trying to find a switch or a knob. After minutes of looking for any means of entry, he finally felt a small hole, he moved his flashlight to the area and bent down to inspect it. He checked his pockets for any stuff that will fit the hole and he opened his bag and pulled out his senbons.
" I've got survivors in here it's around 20 plus. Obito, call the retrieval team, I'll meet you at the back. " Shisui's voice vibrated through the piece, Sasuke paused for a second and listened to their conversation then continued working on the hole. He slowly slipped the senbon on the hole and heard a rumbling sound. Sasuke stood up and backed away from the hidden door. He pulled out his gun and made a stance. When the door opened, he looked around the room and found another hallway but this time it was too bright for his liking.
Sasuke moved forward cautiously and would stop once in a while when he heard voices. The more he walked further the louder the voices and banging sounds becomes. When he reached the end of the hallway he was welcomed with a very large room filled with huge vessels. He leaned on the wall and pulled out a different gun, he pointed it to the wall and pulled the trigger. A metal device flew out of the muzzle and struck the wall. Sasuke immediately pulled his red contacts, the Sharingan, that was made specifically for Uchiha because of their blood and wore them. He blinked his eyes a few times for his eyes to adjust until he can see clearly, he pressed a button on his forearm protector to turn on the device he just recently struck on the wall. He closed his other eye and saw his form from a different angle through the device. He swiped his finger in the air, moving the view of the camera.
From the Sharingan's point of view, he saw, that there are around 10 people inside the room, and around hundreds of vessels. When he found the 5 medics walk out of the room through another large door, he moved out of his hiding spot and approached the vessels. He crouched down and pulled out his senbons and threw them to two medics, hitting the other on his arm and the other on his leg. The two medics fainted and Sasuke immediately caught them, avoiding making any sound. Sasuke placed slowly the bodies behind a vessel and moved to hide behind another vessel. He crouched down again and was about to move to another hiding spot when he saw the vessel in front of him containing a body of a person.
Sasuke's eyes widened and looked around and saw a half of the vessels in the room were filled with naked humans. Sasuke stared at the vessel and did a capture. He started typing on his forearm touchpad.
" Check what I sent thru the Sharingan. " Sasuke looked around and stared at the body with his Sharingan activated, and found that the person has no sexual organs. He stared and saw red energy from the person's body. Sasuke blinked his eyes to turn off his Sharingan and looked around, he spotted two more medics. He made his way near the two medics, he threw a senbon to the other medic who immediately dropped unconscious on the floor. Sasuke immediately approached the other medics and jabbed his sword on the person's neck. Sasuke looked around and found no other medics in the room, so Sasuke used the time to look around, looking for a certain pinkette. When he found none he approached the large door and sneaked inside and found the room filled with another batch of vessels and body.
" Sasuke, I'm just a few doors near you. " Itachi's voice vibrated through the piece making Sasuke stop on his tracks. He looked around and found the vessels turned on making bubbling sounds and would casually make a banging sound when it changes its gears.
" ah, please do a recheck on the vessels Nii-san. "
" Ah " Sasuke moved forward slowly and looked around. He noticed a few bodies in the vessels where children and most of them were young adults and none of it are old people and saw more adults. Sasuke sighed deeply and looked around again, hoping to find the pinkette, he was about to turn to another corner when he heard a screeching sound. He crouched down and saw the large rolling steel doors open. Sasuke immediately turned on his sticky gloves and shoes and ran on the wall. When he reached the ceiling and was sure he was out of sight, he crouched down and looked from above at the 5 men moving a few vessels and into the truck. Sasuke turned on his Sharingan and checked the other room through the device and saw Itachi enter the room and hide bodies inside the closets.
" Are you seeing this nii-san? "
" Ah " Sasuke continued to inspect the men, until his eyes landed on the biggest vessel in the room, just in the corner of the room. Sasuke stood up and walked down till he reached the floor. He was a few feet away from the vessel when he heard someone shout.
" INTRUDER! " Sasuke looked back and saw the five men glance in his direction, another number of men emerged from the truck and ran towards the huge vessel. Sasuke pulled out his gun and shot the medic on his leg who shouted. Sasuke ran towards the vessel and saw around 5 men protecting it while the other 5 were draining the water inside the vessel. When Sasuke was close, the enemies started shooting at him while he expertly evaded the bullets. He crouched down behind the vessel and reloaded his gun. He started shooting them one by one but whenever a person was shot down, another person would run towards their area and assist.
Sasuke was losing his patience and he was running out of bullets. He leaned back on the vessel and glanced at the men when his eyes got a glimpse of pink. He immediately stood up and pulled out his Kusanagi and approached the men who were running towards the truck while carrying a naked pinkette.
" I found Sakura! " Sasuke ran towards the men who were carrying the pinkette, 5 men remained in their places and attacked Sasuke. Sasuke dodged their bullets and sliced and pierced the men who were in his way. He looked down and saw his arm was bleeding, he gripped his arm and looked up and saw the men getting closer to the truck. Sasuke gripped his Kusanagi and ran towards the truck. He stared at the unconscious pinkette in another man's arms, naked and thin and wounded.
Sasuke had to bite his lips and stop his tears while running towards the wounded pinkette. The pinkette's body was covered with scratches and deep wounds, and she was bleeding so much. She had gotten thin and her fair skin was now pale and dirty. Sasuke glared at the other 4 men who approached him, he evaded the two and attacked the other 2.
" Sakura! "
Sakura floated asleep in her vessel for 3 days now, she recalled her heavy mental and physical training for a week with Kabuto, and during those days, she found out, that Orochimaru was after the knowledge she had and the cells her body created when Kabuto injected her with some chemical and so far her body survived it compared to other experiments they had that died after an hour. Sakura had to look away in disgust whenever Orochimaru would smirk at her.
She spent her nights in her room alone and sometimes different medics would visit her and treat her wounds and so far none of her wounds were healing, which made her worry. Sakura opened her eyes and found herself inside the vessel, she looked around and found her body naked again. She looked down and saw Kabuto looking up at her then would jot down on his clipboard and would inspect her like some guinea pig. She glared hard at the white-haired man until Kabuto finally looked at her and sent her a satisfied look.
Sakura pulled on her tubes hoping to break it but she received a shock instead. Kabuto wagged a finger at her and smirked. Sakura glared hard at him, hoping he'd give up. Fortunately, the white-haired man walked away and waved goodbye to her. Sakura squinted her eyes when he was out of sight, making sure his presence wasn't inside the room and when all lights were turned off, Sakura finally cried her heart out, getting used to her tears mixing with the water in her vessel.
Her body gave up with the wounds and exhaustion she received from her abductor. Her body and mind was automatically turned off for 3 days not until the pinkette heard commotions but she couldn't lift her eyes and move her body since she felt cold and wrecked. She could feel someone lifting her and she heard screams and breaking. She heard the sound of the clanging of steel and gunshots, she tried to force her eyes open but she just couldn't. She tried to lift even just a finger but her body just gave up. Her body was about to succumb to unconsciousness when she heard that familiar voice.
" Sakura! " Her heart ached and she forced all adrenaline into her system, when she had the energy she needed, she opened her eyes and saw the familiar dark hair running towards her. Despite his red irises, Sakura knows all too well, it was Sasuke. Clearing her throat, she finally screamed out to him. Hoping her voice would reach him amidst the loud noises.
" S-s-sas- " Sasuke's eyes widened and kicked the man away from him. He lifted his head and looked towards the pinkette who was now wide awake. He picked up his speed and ran towards the pinkette, whose hands were stretched out to him, ignoring the shots he was receiving on his back, he ran faster towards the pinkette and reached out his hand, while the pinkette was dragged away and into the truck.
" S-sasuke-k-kun- " With all the gunshots and screams, all he heard was the voice of the pinkette, who was crying and calling out to him. He could make out his brother's voice in the background but he ignored it and continued running towards the pinkette and when he was just a few inches away from her outstretched hand, an explosion happened before him. He dropped immediately to the ground and he felt his brother pulling him up. He forced his eyes open and saw a huge fire where the pinkette was being dragged to. He was about to run towards it when he felt the pain in his back.
" S-sakura! " and when he heard no response, he could feel his heart aching. Itachi held on to his brother and moved a great distance from the fire.
" Shisui, I sent our location, we need back-up, we've got a few survivors in here-" Itachi sighed and looked at his brother who was staring at the fire and the truck that was now gone.
" Sasuke's injured, we need you as well Obito " Itachi gripped his brother's shoulder who was about to faint.
" I got you so stay awake Sasuke. " Itachi stared at his brother who was still staring at the fire. Itachi stared ahead and doubted someone would have survived the explosion. Luckily he was able to pull his brother away from the explosion, even though he received quite the damage but still it was treatable.
Sasuke stared at the fire and kept his eyes on it hoping the pinkette would miraculously walk through the fire. He waited but he spotted no pinkette in it. For awhile the Uchiha brothers stared at the fire. Itachi held on to his brother and later felt him weigh even more. He looked down at Sasuke who was slowly losing his consciousness.
" Sasuke stay awake! " Sasuke stared at his brother, his eyesight blurring that he cannot identify his brother. Soon his eyelids felt heavy, and with no strength he finally closed his eyes and leaned onto Itachi. Letting the darkness consume him.
So very late, I know. I currently have 3 jobs now, a full time employee at the government, a graphic designer and a paid gamer. HEHEHE
But don't worry I will not fail you in this chapter.
