A/N: I was going to return to our regular POV's (Sean's and Lorelei's) but as I watched the episode, I saw the car ride that Monroe and Rosalee gave to Kelly and decided to add it. The end of this chapter does end with Sean's POV however.

*Monroe's POV*

Geez, the things he did for Nick Burkhardt, Monroe thought to himself. They had left the hospital, with an additional passenger. Kelly Burkhardt, Nick and Lorelei's not so dead mother. Based on his brief interactions with the woman, including the whole trying to kill him thing, he was absolutely terrified of her. And now, here she was, in the backseat of his car. He'd tried making small talk, but she was straight to business.

"How long have you known my children?"

Monroe glanced at Rosalee. "Um, well, boy, almost a year, I guess. It's weird I feel like it was just yesterday that I was crashing through my window to…um, introduce myself, to him. Monroe winced a little. Good save. "And I met Lorelei not long after that."

"He trusts you; they trust you."

He glanced at her through the rearview mirror. "Yeah. They do. And I trust them."

Monroe could feel Rosalee's gaze on him. He felt his heart warm a little. "Me too." Rosalee said, Monroe saw her glance towards the backseat.

There was silence, before. "Do you know anything about this girl who just broke up with my daughter?"

Monroe quickly glanced at Rosalee before looking back at the road. "Uh yeah." Rosalee said. "And it wasn't a bad breakup. The girl found her soulmate. It seemed she ended things before progressing with that relationship."

"Kind of nice of her to do that." Monroe joked awkwardly.

More silence. Geez, tough crowd. After the longest car ride, in the history of car rides, they reached Nick's place. "I'm really sorry that took so long." Monroe said, getting out of the car. "I've never seen the Freemont Bridge closed before."

He walked around to the passenger side, to open the door for Rosalee. She got out, allowing Kelly to exit the vehicle. Kelly looked at both of them. "Thanks for the ride." She said, before she began to make her way towards the house.

"Anytime." Monroe told her, glad to be able to put some distance between themselves and the older Grimm.

Rosalee seemed to have more to say. "You know, your son told Juliette everything about…" She glanced at Monroe before turning back to Kelly "What it's like to be, you know, what you all are. The night that she was infected, Nick brought her to Monroe so he could convince her that Nick was telling the truth…"

"Without any warning, I might add."

"But you know what he was asking him to do." Rosalee continued.

"Boy howdy."

"And he was ready to do it."

"Not right off the bat, but…" He looked at Rosalee. "You know, desperate circumstances require…"

"You know, this relationship, whatever you want to call it between the two of you and my children doesn't make sense to me." Kelly told them.

"To be honest, it doesn't really make sense to us either." Monroe told her.

"By why does it have to?" Rosalee asked looking at Kelly, clearly trying to send some message.

Kelly eyed her up for a moment before answering. "I'm beginning to think it doesn't."

There was silence for a moment and Monroe almost fell over when he saw Rosalee approach Kelly to hug her. Kelly looked a little awkward, she glanced at Monroe before slowly returning the hug. Eventually, they pulled apart and Kelly looked at Rosalee and Monroe for a moment before walking to the house.

Monroe came to stand beside Rosalee, in awe of what she had just done and Kelly's reaction. "Was that a smile? Cause I think that might have been a smile."

"Oh, that was a smile." He told her, a smile of his own crossing his face.

"You sure?"

Monroe looked at her. "I have no idea." He said honestly, turning back to the car.

"Might have been." He heard Rosalee say quietly.

*Sean's POV*

It had been a long couple of days. Kimura attacking him, raiding Griffin and Burkhardt's home, Kimura's capture and subsequent death (Sean had gotten his revenge), the ship murders followed by the murders of two federal agents and a dead mauvais dentes. He had no doubt Burkhardt was behind the mauvais dentes' death. And he had no doubt the family was behind the mauvais dentes appearance in his city. On top of all that, Adalind Schade had cursed Burkhardt's girlfriend, his only tie to Portland. If Juliette died, he had no doubt Burkhardt would leave Portland. And since Lorelei was only in Portland because of Nick, she would probably follow him if he left. Sean was still waiting for Catherine Schade to come up with a solution to fix the mess her daughter had made. And on top of all that, there may be a third Grimm in Portland. He wondered who that was. Had this mysterious Grimm helped the Burkhardt siblings take down the mauvais dentes?

Once he was alone in his office, he made a call. A call to someone he despised interacting with, however it was necessary. If the family was responsible for the mauvais dente being in Portland, he wanted to know why. It could have ended badly, with the death of Burkhardt and worse, Lorelei as well. She had to have been with her brother when he faced off with it. "He's dead, disappointed?" He asked his half-brother.

"How did he die?"

Sean leaned forward. "Violently."

"Were you involved?"

"Funny, I was just about to ask you the same thing. Guess I have my answer."

"The family has waited long enough. Patience may be a strategy for you, but not for us."

"So, you sent a mauvais dente here, to kill him, the both of them?"

"If the Grimm had died, it would have proved not worth the effort. However, the mauvais dentes had orders to leave the girl. The family is more interested in her then him."

Sean felt his stomach clench. "Why her?"

"We have been watching her for some time. She is powerful, perhaps more powerful than her brother. She was trained by Marie Kessler herself. Did you know she has killed three Verrat agents, one of whom was in your city recently?"

Sean was surprised. He knew Lorelei was a Grimm but hearing that she had killed three Verrat agents was…impressive. Who was the one in the Portland? Sean wracked his brain. Ah yes, Waltz. He thought either Burkhardt or Ian Harmon had done that, but apparently not.

"Add in her genius level intelligence and beauty, and well…I'm sure you've seen the media. Some of the families have been marrying commoners. And you know of the desire to add a Grimm to the bloodline." Sean clenched his jaw, as rage coursed through his body. "Now, let me remind you, brother, anymore interference by you will not be tolerated.

"Well, from what I've seen of your mauvais dentes, no interference is needed." Sean said, keeping his tone even, before hanging up the phone. He out of his chair and faced the window, trying to calm himself down.

It was true that the royal families kept Grimms close and had considered marrying them into the families in the past. They had avoided doing so in a bid to get their own bloodlines pure, however more commoners had married into the families in the past fifty years. Sean knew that Lorelei would be of interest to the families; he just didn't realise that they wanted her in this way. Of course they did, she was perfect. He really didn't like his brother's tone. Did he intend on taking Lorelei for himself? Sean would kill him before he allowed that to happen. Lorelei was Sean's, his soulmate. As if it wasn't bad enough, he had to compete with an eisbiber, he wasn't going to let his brother get anywhere near his soulmate.

After finishing up, Sean headed home. He had sent a message to Lorelei, under the guise of checking in on her about the recent events, including Juliette's hospitalisation. By the time he pulled into the parking garage, he saw that she had replied. It appeared as though she was at home. He was sure she would be with her brother, or at the hospital, or with the fuschbau trying to find a way to help Juliette. After considering it for a moment, he decided to stop in and see her before returning to his own apartment.

It didn't take long for Lorelei to answer the door. "Hey, you're looking a lot better." She said the moment she saw him.

"I am definitely feeling better." He commented, stepping inside. "I'm sorry to drop by unannounced."

Lorelei waved her hand. "It's fine." She said, moving to the kitchen island to remove a white cat from it. "You know you aren't allowed up there." She told it. It gave her a look, before wandering off into the living room.

Sean tried not to stare. She had her long hair in a messy bun, was wearing a tank top that showed off her toned arms and shorts that showed off her lean toned legs. He brought his gaze up to her face, noticing for the first time that her eyes were red and puffy. Sean stepped toward her, bringing his hand up to cup her face, while tracing his thumb under her eyes. "You've been crying."

Lorelei closed her eyes slightly at his touch, her cheek rubbing slightly against his hand. "Uh, yeah. It's been a rough twenty-four hours. That Kimura guy, Juliette, and…um, my girlfriend broke up with me. You know…"

Sean had to stop himself from smiling. Lorelei was no longer with the eisbiber. "You and, Katie was it, broke up?" he asked.

Lorelei nodded, stepping away from him to lean against the kitchen island. "Yeah. Uh, she found her soulmate. And I'm happy for her, I truly am. She deserves it. And I knew we weren't forever. But, uh, its my first break up, so it's hitting me a little harder than expected."

"I'm sorry to hear that." He told her, genuinely. Sean didn't want his soulmate to be unhappy. "It certainly has been a rough twenty-four hours for you, hasn't it?"

Lorelei laughed. "It has."

"It explains why you are here. I thought you may have been at the hospital or with Nick."

Lorelei shrugged. "Not much I can do at the hospital, and I wouldn't be much help to Nick now. I've just been engaging in self-care. Eating unhealthy food and binge-watching RuPaul's Drag Race before getting back into it tomorrow."

Sean nodded in understanding. "Self-care is important." He commented, even though it was not something he engaged in himself. From the look Lorelei gave him, she seemed to know.

Sean didn't stay for long, he just wanted to see her. He desperately wanted to do something, anything, tell her she was his soulmate. However, he recognised that she was dealing with a lot, including a broken heart. Making his move now would not be the best idea. As he left, he did kiss her on the cheek, albeit rather close to her mouth. Lorelei had blushed and he felt his heart swell at the effect he had on her. For now, he would wait, just a bit longer and once she had time to move on from the eisbiber he would claim her.
