Nermal was bored. He had been living in the comic strip world for a long time, and he had done everything there was to do. He had pranked Garfield, annoyed Odie, flirted with Arlene, and even joined the Pet Force once. He wanted something new, something exciting, something different.
He remembered the time when Garfield and Odie had gone to the real world, and how they had told him stories about their adventures there. He wondered what it would be like to visit the real world himself, and see all the things that he had only read about in the comics. He decided to sneak into the studio and find a way to go through the screen.
He waited until everyone was busy with their work, and then he slipped into the projector room. He saw the screen that separated the comic strip world from the real world, and he noticed a small tear in the corner. He guessed that it was the same tear that Garfield and Odie had used to get to the other side. He carefully peeled off the tape that was covering it, and he saw a glimpse of the real world. He saw cars, buildings, people, and animals. He felt a surge of curiosity and excitement. He jumped through the tear, and landed on the other side.
He looked around, and he was amazed by everything he saw. He felt the sun on his fur, the wind in his whiskers, and the smells in his nose. He saw a park nearby, and he decided to explore it. He ran across the grass, climbed a tree, chased a squirrel, and drank from a fountain. He felt free and happy. He thought that the real world was much better than the comic strip world.
He decided to find some humans to interact with. He had always liked humans, especially the ones who gave him attention and compliments. He saw a group of children playing in the playground, and he ran towards them. He hoped that they would pet him, feed him, and tell him how cute he was.
However, as soon as he approached them, they screamed and ran away. He was confused and hurt. He didn't understand why they were afraid of him. He thought that maybe they were just shy, and he followed them. He tried to catch up with them, and he called out to them.
"Hey, wait! Don't be scared! I'm friendly! I'm Nermal, the world's cutest kitten!"
But the children didn't listen. They kept running, and they shouted for help. They attracted the attention of some adults, who also saw Nermal. They also screamed and ran away. Nermal was even more confused and hurt. He didn't understand why the adults were afraid of him too. He thought that maybe they were just mean, and he ignored them. He continued to follow the children, hoping that they would change their minds and play with him.
But the adults didn't ignore him. They called the animal control, and soon a van arrived. Two men got out of the van, and they saw Nermal. They also screamed, but they didn't run away. They grabbed a net and a cage, and they tried to catch Nermal. Nermal was scared and angry. He didn't understand why they wanted to catch him. He thought that maybe they were just evil, and he fought back. He scratched, bit, and hissed at them.
"Leave me alone! I don't want to go with you! I want to stay in the real world!"
But the men didn't listen. They were determined to catch Nermal, and they chased him around the park. Nermal was fast and agile, but he was also small and outnumbered. He couldn't escape from them, and he soon found himself trapped in the net. The men lifted him up, and put him in the cage. They locked the cage, and put it in the van. They drove away, leaving the park behind.
Nermal was terrified and miserable. He didn't know what they were going to do with him. He wished that he had never come to the real world. He wished that he had stayed in the comic strip world, where he was safe and loved. He wished that he could see Garfield, Odie, Arlene, and the others again. He wished that he could go back home.
He looked at the tear in the screen, and he saw that it was still open. He realized that he still had a chance to go back. He gathered all his strength, and he pushed against the cage. He managed to break the lock, and he opened the door. He jumped out of the cage, and ran towards the screen. He dodged the men, who were too shocked to react. He leaped through the tear, and landed on the other side.
He looked around, and he was relieved to see that he was back in the comic strip world. He felt the paper on his paws, the ink on his fur, and the bubbles on his head. He saw the studio, and he recognized the familiar faces of his friends. He felt safe and loved. He thought that the comic strip world was much better than the real world.
He ran towards his friends, and he hugged them. They were surprised and happy to see him. They asked him where he had been, and what he had done. He told them everything that had happened to him in the real world, and how he had escaped. They listened to his story, and they were amazed and horrified. They told him that he was lucky to be alive, and that he should never go to the real world again. He agreed with them, and he promised that he would never leave the comic strip world again.
He was glad that he had his friends, and he was grateful for his life. He realized that he had everything he needed in the comic strip world, and that he didn't need anything else. He was happy, and he smiled. He was Nermal, the world's cutest kitten, and he was home.
