Chapter 10 - New York

Philip wakes up in a good mood, so it seems. I didn't know what time he actually got home, so I let him sleep in, and he is now awake at 9 o'clock in the morning.

"Hey, Andrea. I am so sorry we were interrupted last night. I had to perform a c-section, but mom and baby are doing great. " he says, looking into my blue eyes.

"You don't have to keep apologizing. I'm glad you're here now. Everyone has to work, Philip, " I said honestly.

"How about we fly out to New York today? I want to make it up to you, " he offers, as if it were no big deal.

"You could just take me out for pizza and a movie or something. We could go bowling. " I said honestly. He always seemed to be going all out. Is it to impress me, or does he just want to see what I'll agree to?

"I really want to do this for you. I am from New York and I would love to take you there. I have the private plane ready, and I've got our clothes packed too, " he says sweetly.

"Are you from New York? That is surprising. But of course I'll go to New York with you. I have never been, " I said, wondering what all he has planned.

I couldn't believe he owned his own airplane; I was shocked as we boarded and took a seat.

We are the only ones on the plane, and it definitely feels like first class.

Once we're settled, I decided to ask him a few questions. We're sitting beside each other for a two-hour flight.

"How did you get your money? If you don't mind me asking, " I asked out of curiosity.

I knew doctors made a lot, but not this much. He clearly had more money than anyone I knew, including Negan.

"My parents were both from wealthy families. My dad, especially, always had money. He is a plastic surgeon. He was disappointed when I decided to be an OB-GYN instead. "

I did have a brother named Brian, but he died in the military serving in Iraq. So I have a really large trust fund as the only living child. I used my money to put myself through college and made investments in Apple, Walmart, and Amazon.

I have even sold houses for profit and started a couple of businesses. I never really have to worry about money. My parents still send me money, even though I tell them not to. My job as a doctor pays very well and my investments cover the extra activities. "He brags.

And I wonder if he knows how entitled he is.

"I worry about money all the time, " I admitted.

"Once we get married that won't be a concern anymore, " he says nonchalantly.

I don't know what to say to his comment, so I stay quiet, accepting his words. I had a feeling that Philip usually gets his own way, and I wasn't going to argue with him.

"So what's the meaning behind the tattoo on your shoulder? " he asked curiously.

For a moment, I considered telling him the truth. I was this young teenager in love, and it was my boyfriend's football jersey number. Somehow, I didn't feel like that was the right thing to say. So I lied.

"It's stupid, actually. My sister and I like Taylor Swift a lot. She has this song called '22 '. I did after the Taylor Swift song. I was about nineteen at the time. I should get it removed, but I haven't been able to afford the laser treatment. "

"I could pay for the treatment. Whenever you want, " he offers.

"Thank you. I'll have to see about getting that set up. Could we see a Broadway show while we're here? I am such a theater nerd, " I said, getting excited about this adventure.

"My mom brought me tickets for Hamilton. So the plan is to see that. She was supposed to go but had a last-minute art show. She is a photographer. So it will be just the two of us, " he said, seeing the excitement on her face.

"I love Hamilton. Lin-Manuel Miranda is a genius. Honestly, this is a dream come true. You didn't have to do all this, " I responded.

"Andrea, Today is Valentine's Day. We've been dating and I know we haven't been together for long, but I still wanted to make our first holiday special, " he says, taking her hand.

"Thank you, " I said, looking out the window at the sky. I knew he would be landing in New York around lunchtime.

I am so excited. He looks pretty happy too. We look like the perfect couple, I think.
