A/N: Obvious disclaimer, I dont have any rights to Pokemon. This is my first (and probably only) amourshipping oneshot I've written. I made this oneshot based off of a YouTubers oneshot who goes by the name of MegaBlaziken. Unknown to me, they deleted their YouTube channel and all the videos they uploaded. There was one specifically I used to rewatch from them from time to time so with that not being an option I decided to take my own interpretation from their oneshot. If you know of the YouTuber and the original video then you might recognize some of the parts in this story. I also need to give credit to another YouTuber Pokeferlax. He has some of the best amourshipping stories I've ever read and all the amourshipping moments he writes are perfect. I was struggling to write certain dialouge options between Ash and Serena so I used some similar lines from a few of his stories. You should absolutely check him out if you haven't. His work is phenomenal.

Evening at the Slateport City Pokemon Center

Serena: "What a day, I'm exhausted but I'm so proud of all of you for your hard work today!"

"Pan!" "Sylveon!" "Brai Brai!" her Pokemon responded.

Serena: "I can't believe we did it, we finally have our fifth ribbon! Next stop, the Grand Festival!"

Suddenly the door opens to reveal a brunette trainer wearing a bandanna.

May: "So how's it feel you're going to the Grand Festival?"

Serena ran over to the door to give her friend and mentor a hug.

Serena: "I couldn't have done it without you May! Thank you!"

May: "Don't mention it! It's the least I could do."

Serena sat back down on her bed in her room and let out a sigh.

May: "What's wrong Serena? You still look kind of down?"

Serena: "Oh it's nothing, just tired is all."

May: "I bet you are after today's performance but I know you well enough now to know it's something else. You miss him don't you?"

Serena jolted her head up to look at May

Serena: "It's that obvious huh?"

May: "You wish he could have been there to see you get your fifth ribbon."

Serena sadly nods

May: "Why don't you give him a call then? I'm sure he'd love to hear from you. Maybe that little parting gift you gave him finally broke through that dense shell of his!"

Serena started to giggle and blush at the thought of her kissing Ash back at the Lumiose City Airport.

Serena: "I'd like too but you know Ash never carries a phone on him anywhere, and last I heard from Clemont and Bonnie he's off traveling in another region. I don't even know which one."

May smirking: "Yeah that's true. As great a friend that he is, he's pretty bad at keeping in contact with his friends. I was surprised he even reached out to me to let me know you were coming to Hoenn to participate in contests."

Serena: "I wish he had mentioned that he had a friend in Hoenn that knew everything there is to know about contest before I flew out here but I'll cut him some slack since our last few days in Kalos were pretty eventful. I'm just thankful Professor Birch was able to pass your message along to meet me."

May: "I wish he mentioned that you KISSED him! Took you long enough to reveal that piece of information!"

Serena blushing: "May!"

May laughing: "Hey don't blame me, if you're going to blame anyone blame Dawn. She's the one who pried it out of you!"

Serena smiles and sighs: "There were times her teasing was worse than Bonnie's."

May: "Anyways, I wouldn't worry too much though Serena. Somehow Ash always returns into all of our lives sooner or later. I mean what are the odds that you went to the same summer camp when you were both kids and then reunited years later. I wouldn't be surprised if you saw him again soon."

Serena: "I hope you're right May but I was also serious when I said I'm tired. These past 11 months of constant training and contests, I feel like I haven't even been able to catch my breath."

May: "Sounds to me like you could use a vacation. You have some time seeing how the Grand Festival isn't for another 2 months".

Serena: "No it's okay, I really should be practicing for it anyways."

May: "Trust me Serena I think a vacation for you and your Pokemon would do you all some good for a little bit. Go enjoy yourselves for a little while and then come back. I promise you and your Pokemon will feel so much better"

Serena: "I guess a vacation wouldn't be a bad idea. Where would I go though? Back home to Kalos?"

May: "What about the Alola region?"

Serena: "Alola region?"

May: "Yeah. It's a tropical region. You know sandy beaches, bright blue ocean, beautiful sunsets, and some of the best shopping and food you'll probably ever find! Drew and I went there last year and it was amazing."

Serena: "It does sound really nice. What do you think guys?"

Serena's Pokemon: "Pan Pan!" "Veon!" "Braixen! Brai!"

Serena: "Alright then it's settled! We better pack our bags cause tomorrow we're going to the Alola region!"

The next morning May went to the airport with Serena to send her off promising to see each other again in a couple of days. Later that day Serena finally arrived at Melmele island.

Serena: "Alright everyone come on out!"

Her Pokemon were all in amazement getting their first looks at this tropical region.

Serena: "I'd love to do some shopping but after the long plane ride I think I'd be nice to go to the beach. Let's go get a room at the Pokémon center and then head to the beach!"

All of Serena's Pokemon happily agreed and followed her as they took in all the new sights and experiences to see.

…

Professor Kukui: "Alright class I think that's enough on Alola's water type Pokemon for now. Enjoy some time at the beach and then we'll return back to class for lunch in a little bit!"

Sophocles: "First one in the water is a rotten Exeggutor!"

Ash: "Hey wait up!"

Kiawe: "No way am I loosing this!"

Mallow: "Do the boys have to make everything a competition?"

Lana shrugs and Lillie laughs.

For a while the gang swims around and plays in the water enjoying the refreshing waves and warm sunshine.

Mallow: "What do you guys say to some beach volleyball before we had back?"

Ash: "Sounds like a great idea! I'm in!"

Kiawe: "Definitley! How about Lana, Sophocles, and I against Ash, Mallow, and Lillie?"

Everyone agreed. After playing for a while the game got more and more intense leading to Kiawe hitting the ball so hard it flew way out of the court and started rolling down the beach.

Mallow: "Kiawe! You didn't have to hit it that hard!"

Kiawe rubbing the back of his neck: "hehe sorry Mallow, I guess I got a little too carried away."

Ash: "No worries, I'll go get it."

Ash went off walking along the beach to search for the ball.

Ash: "where could it have gone? Did Kiawe really hit it that hard?"

"Pika…Pika Pi?"

All of a sudden Pikachu jumps off of Ash's shoulder and starts running along the beach.

Ash: "Pikachu? Where are you going?"

Ash chases after Pikachu only to find him playing with a very familiar looking Pancham and Sylveon.

Ash: "Wait a minute…are you-"

Serena: "Pancham! Sylveon! At least wait for-"

Serena looks up only to meet the gaze of the boy she'd been missing for the past 11 months.

Serena: "Ash!?"

Ash: "Serena!?"

Before Serena could even comprehend what just happened Ash closes the distance embracing her into a big hug. Serena starts to blush, then smile, then return the hug.

Ash breaking the embrace: "It's so good to see you!"

Pikachu jumps on Serena's shoulder happily rubbing up against her check.

Serena: "It's so good to see you too, as well as you Pikachu!"

"Chaaa!" Pikachu squeals as Serena scratches him under his chin and looks over to see Ash greeting all her Pokemon too.

Ash: "What are you doing here in Alola?"

Serena: "I decided I need a little break from contests so I took a vacation here to Alola. What are you doing here?"

Before Ash could answer his friends arrived.

Lana: "So Ash are you going to introduce us to your friend?"

Ash remembering what he was originally doing turned around to see all of his friends around.

Ash: "Oh sorry guys, this is my good friend Serena! We traveled through the Kalos region together and even went to the same summer camp when we were kids."

Serena smirking: "Oh now you remember that."

Ash rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment and let out a little laugh. Lana and Mallow quickly glanced at each other over the interaction and looked back at them.

Kiawe: "Hi, I'm Kiawe"

Sophocles: "My name is Sophocles and this is Togedemaru"

Mallow: "I'm Mallow"

Lana: "Lana"

Lillie: "And I'm Lillie and this is Snowy"

Serena: "It's so great to meet all of you! These are my Pokemon, Braxien, Pancham, and Sylveon!"

"Pancham!" "Syl Sylveon!" "Braxien Brai!"

Professor Kukui: "Alright class it's time to head back for lun- well who might this be?"

Serena: "Hi, I'm Serena! I'm an old friend of Ash!"

Professor Kukuwi: "Well any friend of Ash is a friend of mine. Care to join us Serena? We're about to head back to go get some lunch."

Ash: "Yeah come join us it will be great!"

Serena: "Are you sure? I don't want to be a bother."

Professor Kukui: "I insist. It's only a few minutes up the road."

Serena smiled brightly: "Okay then!"

Serena recalled her Pokemon and joined the group as they made their way back to the Pokemon school. On the way Ash asked her how her time in Hoenn is going. When she told him she recently got her fifth ribbon to be entered into the Grand Festival, Ash was practically gleaming with excitement for her. Meanwhile Mallow, Lana, and Lillie hung back a bit to discuss amongst themselves.

Mallow: "So is anyone here getting the idea that Ash and Serena might be more than just "friends"?"

Lillie: "I was kind of thinking that myself. I know Ash is always enthusiastic about his friends but I've never seen him so excited talking about anything than he is right now to her. Except for maybe Pokemon battles and food."

Lana: "I mean did you see the way he practically threw himself at her when he saw her?"

Mallow: "On top of that it seems like Serena is glowing with happiness talking to Ash. Pretty sure I caught her blushing a bit too when Ash hugged her."

Lana: "I think we need to learn more about what happened with those two while they were in Kalos. Maybe we can put something in motion."

Lillie: "Awe they'd be so cute together!"

Mallow: "let's see what we can learn at lunch."

The group arrived at the school and got together to have lunch. Everyone sat down, eager to get to know more about Serena. The girls made sure to keep a closer eye on Ash and Serena to see if they could pick up on anything.

Ash: "So May's officially been mentoring you? I would have thought she'd still be competing."

Serena: "Yeah she's amazing! I guess since she's been a top coordinator for so long she wanted to try something new and mentor me instead of competing. Although we did run into your friend Dawn while she was competing and even traveled with her for a while. She'll also be participating in the Grand Festival."

Ash: "I'm so glad you all found each other. I hope you practice though, Dawns really good and she's going to be tough to beat."

Serena: "Oh I know, she beat me twice already at some of the contests we both participated in, but I'll be ready to win against her when it's time for the Grand Festival."

Serena teasingly: "It also would have been nice to know you had a friend in Hoenn that was a top coordinator before I left Kalos."

Ash rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment: "Sorry it completely slipped my mind. The last two weeks in Kalos were pretty crazy."

Mallow: "So what was your guys time in Kalos like? You haven't really said too much Ash outside of traveling to collect gym badges and competing in a league."

Serena: "Yeah that sounds like Ash, too humble to talk about his accomplishments. Ash placed second in the Kalos league. Should have been first if you asked me. He's the greatest Pokemon trainer I've ever seen!"

Kiawe and Sophocles in amazement: "SECOND PLACE!?"

Ash rubbed his nose in embarrassment but with a joyful smile hearing Serena compliment him.

Ash: "Don't act like our time together was all about me. When we first started our journey Serena wasn't sure what she wanted to do. As we traveled together she found her dream in performances with her Pokemon to be the Kalos Queen!"

Sophocles: "What are performances?"

Lana: "And what's a Kalos Queen?

Serena: "A Pokemon Performer is someone who trains their Pokémon to show off their moves and talents in other ways than battling and perform in front of audiences. The Kalos Queen is the person that's crowned as the best performer in all of Kalos."

Ash: "She almost did win it too! I still think she should have beaten Aria, the current Kalos queen. Serena's the best performer I've ever seen!"

Serena smiles gratefully with a slight blush on her cheeks. Mallow, Lana, and Lillie quick share a glance with each other, all of them knowing they each have the same thought in their heads.

Lillie: "That sounds incredible! I'd love to see one of your performances!"

Kiawe: "I agree, that sounds really interesting."

Ash: "Can you do one for us before you head back to Hoenn? It's been a while since I've gotten to see you perform!"

Serena: "Sure, I'd love too!"

Lana: "So Serena, Ash mentioned you met at a summer camp when you were kids. How did you meet?"

Serena: "Well to be honest I didn't even really want to go to the summer camp, my mom made me. We were all suppose to go on a scavenger hunt in the woods but I ended up getting lost. I got frightened by a little poliwag and tripped, hurting my knee. Frightened, hurt, and lonely I started to cry. All of a sudden Ash appeared out of nowhere apparently chasing after the poliwag, go figure, and kinda came to my rescue. He bandaged up my knee with a handkerchief, picked me up, and lead me back to camp."

The girls noticed Serena had a slight blush on her cheeks reminiscing how Ash "saved" her.

Ash: "Funny enough the reason we met again back in Kalos was because she saw me on tv and decided to return my handkerchief to me."

Serena teasingly: "You say that so casually like you didn't jump off the top of the tallest building in Lumiose City to rescue Pikachu."

Everyone else: "YOU JUMPED OFF A BUILDING!?!"

Ash: "Haha yeah. We were trying to stop a Garchomp that was going mad and Pikachu fell so I jumped off after him to save him."

"Pika!"

Ash: "Anyways Serena found me when I was struggling with my first gym battle. She helped me figure out how to win it and so I asked her to join our journey. She was always there to take care of us. Like that one time when I had a fever and that trainer with the Pikachu wanted to battle me and you dressed up as me to battle him with Pikachu so you could let me rest while Clemont and Bonnie were getting me medicine."

Sophocles: "You dressed up as Ash and battled with Pikachu?"

Serena nervous and embarrassed waving her hand dismissively: "uuhhhh we don't really have to talk about that!"

Ash: "From what I heard you battled with Pikachu really well! That is until Team Rocket showed up."

Kiawe: "They were bothering you in Kalos too?"

Serena: "You guys know about Team Rocket? They followed you here to Alola too?"

Ash: "Yeah. Seems like wherever I go they go. Doesn't matter though. We'll always send them blasting off won't we Pikachu?"

"Pikachu!"

The bell rang and it was time for everyone to get back to class. As the group headed back to the classroom Ash showed Serena the way while Kiawe, and Sophocles followed. Mallow broke off from the group to use the "bathroom" and Lana and Lillie followed.

Mallow: "I think it's safe to say that Serena definitely likes Ash."

Lana: "I'll say, did you see the way she looked at him when she was talking about their time at summer camp? Also for the fact she kept Ash's handkerchief for that long."

Lillie: "And with how flustered she got when Ash brought up how she dressed up as him one time."

Lana: "Do you think Ash likes her back?"

Mallow: "I'm not sure, you know how dense Ash is. He did seem to praise her a lot though."

Lillie: "Well what do we do now?"

Lana: "We got to get them alone and see how they act with one another."

Lillie: "How do we do that?"

Mallow: "I got an idea! After class we'll all go our separate ways and make sure Ash and Serena are left alone. Then we can keep an eye on them from afar and see what happens."

Lillie: "Isn't that spying?"

Mallow: "Noooooo, well, yes but don't think of it as spying, think of it as reconnaissance. So we can learn information and help get them together!"

Lana: "I'm in!"

Lillie: "Alright, me too!"

The girls head back to the classroom before Kukui continues the lesson. After class the group heads out and leaves the school.

Ash: "Well guys what should we do now? Should we go show Serena around?"

Mallow: "I've got to go help out at the restaurant."

Lana: "And I have to go take care of my sisters."

Lillie: "I should go home, I think my mom is expecting me."

Kiawe: "I'm free."

Sophocles: "Yeah me too!"

Mallow: "Oh no you're not my, uh, dad asked for you to come help out at the restaurant."

Sophocles: "but I-"

Lana: "And I need your help to entertain my little sisters."

Kiawe: "Me!? But-"

Lillie: "Alright we all better get going! Bye you two! Have fun!"

Mallow, Lana, and Lillie dragged the boys away leaving Ash and Serena alone, and a little confused.

Ash: "Well that was weird."

Serena: "Yeah I suppose so."

Ash: "Well what would you like do? What were your plans originally before we met at the beach?"

Serena: "Well I wanted to go shopping and see what Melemele has to offer but -"

Ash: "Alright let's do it! I know a great place to start out!"

Serena: "Ash wait-

Before Serena could finish her sentence, Ash grabbed her hand and started to quickly lead them on their way."

….

Kiawe: "What was that for?"

Sophocles: "Yeah why did you just drag us away?"

Mallow: "Because we're all pretty sure that Serena has a crush on Ash so we want them to have some time alone together and see how they act towards one another."

Kiawe: "So you're going to spy on them?"

Lana: "No, we're doing reconnaissance."

Kiawe: "Well count me out then."

Sophocles: "Yeah me too."

The boys started to head to their homes while the girls leave to go see if they could find Ash and Serena and see what they're up to.

…

Serena: "So let me get this straight, you're doing these trials in preparation for the first ever Pokemon League here in Alola and at the same time fighting and capturing Ultra Beasts and going to school here while staying at the Professors house?"

Ash: "Yeah that pretty much sums it up!"

Serena: "There really is never a dull moment with you is there Ash Ketchum? Although I never would have taken you as someone to sit down and do school all day instead of traveling."

Ash: "Neither did I but it's a lot of fun actually and I get to learn a whole lot of new things."

Serena: "To better help become a Pokemon Master?"

Ash: "Exactly!"

Serena grinning: "Well nothing we ever do is a waste of time!"

Ash: "You still remember our saying!"

Serena: "Of course I do!"

Ash and Serena share a warm smile with each other.

Ash: "Oh we're here! This is Melemele's largest shopping mall."

Serena: "Wow! It's huge!"

Ash: "Well where do you want to start?"

Serena: "I was thinking of getting a new outfit. The one I have is more for the weather in Hoenn anyways."

Ash: "Alright then let's go!"

After a while Serena finally decides on an outfit. She picks out a slightly cropped light yellow t-shirt with floral prints on it that ties at the bottom, aqua green shorts, black and red sneakers, and a straw hat with a red ribbon around it similar in shape to the one she usually wears. To top it off the blue ribbon still sits along the collar of her shirt.

Serena: "Well Ash how do I look?"

Ash stares for a brief moment: "Wow you look great!"

Serena slightly blushes: "Awe thanks Ash!"

Ash: "You still kept the ribbon too!"

Serena: "How could I not, it was a gift from you!"

Ash smiles warmly at Serena's comment with a very slight blush on his cheeks.

Serena: "Come on, let's go pay for this!"

….

Lillie: "Did you see that! Did Ash Ketchum just blush!?"

Lana: "He also definitely stared at her for a moment there too!"

Mallow: "Let's not forget the fact that he grabbed and held her hand for a bit while they were headed to the mall!"

Lana: "Maybe Ash isn't as dense as we thought."

Mallow: "So what should our next step be?"

Lillie: "I got it! Tomorrow after school let's all have a sleep over at my place! We'll bring Serena and try to get her to confess to liking Ash. Plus it will be great to get to know her a little more and to have another girl around!"

Mallow: "I like the idea!"

Lana: "Me too! It sounds like a lot of fun!"

…

Ash: "So Serena, I forgot to ask earlier but where are you staying?"

Serena: "Just at the Pokémon Center here on Melemele."

Ash: "Well instead of that how would you like to stay with me at the Professors place?"

Serena: "I couldn't possibly intrude like that."

Ash: "Nonsense, I insist! Come on we can probably make it in time for dinner!"

Serena: "Well alright then!"

Ash leads Serena back home.

Ash: "I'm home!"

Kukui: "Just in time for dinner, and I see we have a guest too!"

Burnet: "Oh you must be Ash's friend, Serena! I'm Professor Burnet! Kukui was telling me you met them at the beach today!"

Serena: "Yeah that's me! It's a pleasure to meet you Professor Burnet!"

Burnet: "Oh please it's just Burnet. Have you come to join us for dinner? We'd be more than happy to have you!"

Ash: "Actually I was going to ask, Serena is suppose to be staying at the Pokémon Center during her vacation here in Alola but I offered her to stay here with us instead if that's okay?"

Kukui: "Absolutely! Our house is your house Serena!"

Serena: "Thank you so much!"

Burnet: "Ash why don't you help Kukui finish setting up dinner. I'll show Serena to the guest room and she can make herself comfortable."

Burnet did just that and after Serena got settled she joined everyone for dinner. Ash and Serena told the professors about their time in Kalos, Serena's dream about becoming the Kalos Queen, and even some of their memories at Professor Oaks summer camp. After dinner Ash introduced Serena and her Pokémon to all his new Pokemon. Ash, Serena, and the Professors played some games, sat together to watch a movie and called it a night after that.

Later that night Ash woke up to get a drink, and was careful not to disturb a sleeping Pikachu. As Ash walked back from the kitchen he noticed Serena's door was open with her gone. Wondering where she could be he peeked out the front window and saw Serena sitting in the sand looking at the waves and the stars. He decided to go and join her.

Ash quietly: "Serena?"

Serena lost in thought: "Oh hi Ash. I hope I didn't wake you."

Ash: "Not at all. I got up to get a drink and saw you were gone. Is it alright if join you?"

Serena: "Of course!"

Ash sits down in the sand next to her.

Ash: "Couldn't sleep?"

Serena just shook her head but with a smile on her face still gazing up at the stars.

Ash: "What's on your mind?"

Serena: "Honestly, nothing. I'm just really happy Ash. Today was incredible."

Ash: "Yeah it was!"

Serena: "My life has been kind of crazy since I left for Hoenn. I haven't felt like I've been able to catch my breath. Constantly training and working to perform in contests, but it's been so rewarding! I imagine this is how you feel all the time going to different regions and trying to go for all your badges."

Ash laughs: "Yeah, it's a lot of work but so worth it in the end."

Serena: "Being here though and having a chance to breathe and not have to worry about anything for a few days…it's really nice. I just hope my Pokemon and I will be okay taking some time to relax for a little bit instead of train."

Ash: "Sounds like you really did need this vacation. Training is important, believe me, but so is also taking some down time to relax and take everything in. Nothing we ever do is a waste of time."

Serena looks over at Ash with a big smile on her face.

Serena: "I still can't believe I ran into you today. It almost doesn't feel real."

Ash: "I know, I was shocked! But I am really happy you're here Serena."

Serena smiling: "I'm really happy I'm here too. It almost made me feel like we were on another adventure in Kalos together. As much as I love being in Hoenn and doing contests, I really do miss our time in Kalos."

Ash: "I do too."

Serena: "Yeah?"

Ash: "Of course. Don't get me wrong I love my time here and everything I'm doing and all the friends I've made. Kukui and Burnet are practically family at this point. There was just something that felt so special about our time together in Kalos. You, me, Clemont, and Bonnie. We were all practically family."

Serena: "We were weren't we?"

Ash: "Definitely!"

The two smiled at each other and continued to gaze up at the stars in a comfortable silence for a few moments.

Serena: "Hey Ash, do you remember when we had our Pokemon battle in Lumiose City?"

Ash: "How could I forget?"

Serena: "Do you still mean what you said about always cheering me on?"

Ash: "Of course I do Serena. No matter where we are I'll always be there for you. That's a promise."

Serena looks at Ash and gives him a big smile, who is also smiling right back at her.

Serena: "We should probably head to bed now though. We still have school in the morning."

Ash rubbing the back of his neck: "Yeah that's probably a good idea."

Ash stands up and offers Serena his hand to help her up. She stands up and looks at Ash with a grateful smile. Being only inches apart from Ash now she freezes for a second smiling at him debating on her next move but decides to go for it anyways. She leans in and kisses Ash on the cheek.

Serena blushing: "Thank you Ash…for everything."

She then turns around and heads back inside to her room. Ash stands there in front of the house for a moment longer, stunned but feeling happy. He gently touches his cheek and smiles and heads back inside to his room.

…

Kukui: "Alright class today we're going to be doing something a little different. You're all going to go Sharpedo riding!"

Lana: "Yay! I can't wait!"

Ash: "Awesome!"

Sophocles: "Uhhh I don't know about this professor."

Kukui: "I know Sharpedos can be a little intimidating but the point of the lesson is to understand and bond with Pokemon. I know you all have your own Pokemon but it's a bit different when it comes to a wild one. I won't force you to do this if you don't want too but if it makes things a little easier you can pair up with someone."

Sophocles: "Hey uh, Kiawe? Could I pair up with you?"

Kiawe: "Sure thing!"

Lillie: "Would it be okay if I pair up with you Lana?"

Lana: "Of course you can."

Serena makes her way over to Ash

Serena: "Mind if we partner up Ash? Even with all the time I've spent in Hoenn I haven't really interacted with any Sharpedo."

Ash: "Absolutely! Come on and hop on!"

Serena gets in the water and sits behind Ash on the Sharpedo, placing her hand on his shoulders.

Kukui: "I've set up a course for you to follow, first one to finish will be the winners. On your mark! Get set! GO!"

The racers were off and all of them were neck and neck weaving and racing through the course.

Ash: "How you holding up Serena?"

Serena: "Fine! Just trying not to fall off!"

Ash: "Well hang on tightly then cause we have a race to win."

Ash gets the Sharpedo to go even faster, moving with incredible speed. Serena lets out a little yell and wraps her arms around Ash's waist, holding him tightly while tucking her face into his shoulder. Ash gets distracted by the feeling and comfort of Serena's embrace and looses control of the Sharpedo and both of them go tumbling off into the water.

Ash: "Serena! Are you alright?!"

Serena: "Yeah I'm fi-"

Serena starts giggling at Ash.

Ash: "What's so funny?"

Serena still laughing: "You've seemed to have picked up a hitchhiker."

Serena points to the top of Ash's head where a baby Tentacool is sitting. Ash smiles and lets out a laugh trying to pull the Tentacool off, but it doesn't move. Ash continues to try and struggles but it won't let go.

Serena: "Here let me help with that."

Serena swims over to Ash and pets the Tentacool behind the red bulb on its head. The Tentacool coos and releases his grip on Ash's head, dives into the water, and swims away.

Ash: "Where did you learn to do that?"

Serena: "May showed me. After one of our contests we went fishing. I hooked a little Tentacool and it came flying off the fishing rod when I reeled it in and stuck to my foot. May showed me that little trick to help get it off of me."

Ash: "Wow. Well thanks for the help!"

Serena: "Don't mention it."

The two of them, practically face to face, shared a warm smile staring into each other's eyes. Their gaze breaks when they heard Kukui yell out the winners of the race, Lana and Lillie. The two immediately started to swim back to the beach to join the rest of the class.

….

Serena: "What a fun day of school. I still can't believe you guys do stuff like this almost every day!"

Kiawe: "Yeah it's pretty great. Although I still can't believe Lana and Lillie won the race. Sophocles and I were so close!"

Lana: "Honestly I thought Ash and Serena were going to win until they went flying off of their Sharpedo."

Ash rubbing the back of his neck embarrassed: "Heh yeah, I guess I got a little too carried away and lost control. So Serena what did you want to do for the rest of the day?"

Lillie: "Actually I was wondering if Serena wanted to join Mallow, Lana, and I for a girls sleepover at my place tonight?" We all thought it'd be a lot of fun and great way to get to know each other a little more."

Serena: "That does sound like a lot of fun! Although I'd feel kind of bad leaving Ash behind."

Ash: "Nah it's okay Serena! You'll have a great time!"

Serena: "Are you sure?"

Ash: "Definitely. I'll probably go get some training done in preparation for my next trial."

Lana: "Yeah! Girls night!"

Mallow: "Why don't we all meet for breakfast tomorrow morning at my family's restaurant since we don't have school?"

Sophocles: "I'd love that!"

Kiawe: "Sounds good to me!"

Ash: "Yeah me too!"

Lillie: "Alright! Come on girls, the car is over here!"

Serena following the girls and waving: "Bye Ash! I'll see you in the morning!"

Ash: "Bye Serena! Have fun!"

Just then the girls got into Lillie's family limo and drive off. The boys said their good byes to each other and then went home.

…

As Ash walked home, Pikachu could sense something was up with him.

"Pikachu?"

Ash: "I'm alright buddy. I think I'm just tired is all."

Ash opened up the door to his house and walked inside.

Kukui: "Hey Ash! No Serena?"

Ash: "She's having a sleep over with Mallow, Lana, and Lillie tonight."

Kukui: "Sounds like she'll have a great time!"

Ash: "Yeah…"

Ash sets his bag down in the living room and lays down on the couch.

Kukui puzzled: "Hey Ash? You feeling okay?"

Ash: "Yeah. I'm just feeling a little tired."

Kukui: "You sure that's all it is?"

Ash: "Yeah. What else could it be?"

Burnet: "Could you maybe be missing a certain someone?"

Ash: "Who? Serena?"

Burnet: "Mmhhm"

Ash sits up: "Well yeah I kind of do."

Kukui: "You want to talk about it?"

Ash: "I don't know, I mean I'm happy that she's spending time and getting to know my friends. It's really awesome, but I feel a little sad that I'm not spending time with her. I'm not jealous or anything but I'm not sure what it is."

Burnet: "Ash, when you think of Serena what comes to mind?"

Ash: "Well she's one of the kindest people I know. She'd do anything to help make someone smile. She's brave and courageous and she's even pushed me to do better in times I needed it. She's one of the most caring people in the world. She's always looking after people and Pokémon and never asks for anything in return."

Burnet: "How do you feel when you're with her?"

Ash: "Happy. Really happy. Having her here in Alola the past two days, it's been the absolute best having her around again. There's a part of me that doesn't want her to leave. Why do you ask?"

Burnet: "Sometimes a person comes along in our life that makes us feel the exact same way you just described. It's a bond deeper and more meaningful than just a friendship. You feel love for them. For me that person was Kukui."

Kukui: "And for me it was Burnet."

Ash: "Wait, are you saying that I…love Serena?"

Burnet: "The only person that can answer that question is you."

Kukui: "She's a wonderful girl Ash. I've seen how well you two act together and are towards each other. Even today during your race. There's something there between you two that isn't there between, say, Lillie, Mallow, or Lana. A connection, and I bet Serena feels the same way too."

Ash: "Well what should I do?"

Burnet: "You need to tell her and be honest and open with each other. Only then will you two know for sure. Just make sure you do it before she has to leave again."

Ash: "Alright! I'll do it!"

Kukui: "We're always rooting for you Ash. Now come on, why don't we have some dinner."

…

Later that evening at Lillies house the girls were all gathered around, laughing and having a great time. Mallow, Lana, and Lillie got to share a bit about themselves and Serena got to tell all about her adventures with Ash during their journey in the Kalos region.

Mallow laughing: "I still can't believe you borrowed his clothes and pretended to be him!"

Serena: "Well I had to be convincing or that Jimmy guy wouldn't have left him alone until he battled."

Lillie: "Speaking of clothes, I have to say I love that blue ribbon that you wear. It's so beautiful."

Serena clutching her ribbon while slightly blushing: "Thank you Lillie!"

Lana: "Yeah, is there any significance with it? I noticed you also had it on when we all first me too."

Serena: "There is. It was gifted to me by someone special."

Mallow: "Who?"

Serena hesitates for a moment but she knew she wasn't going to be able to keep this a secret.

Serena: "Ash"

Lillie: "Awe!"

Lana: "So what happened! There's got to be a story behind this!"

Mallow: "Yeah come on! Tell us!"

Serena: "Well it happened during our stay in Courmarine City. There was a special event going on. Once a year trainers would gather underneath the Pledging Tree which is this big beautiful tree that they light up and decorate and give gifts to their Pokemon. Ash and I went out shopping for gifts and Ash won the ribbon. Later that evening under the Pledging Tree Ash gifted me the ribbon as a thanks for helping him."

Lillie: "What a cute story!"

Lana: "It sounds like Ash means a lot to you?"

Serena nodded and smiled: "Yeah. He does."

Mallow: "You really like him don't you?"

Serena paused for a second, but more confident in herself she decided to answer her new friends honestly instead of trying to hide it.

Serena: "I have for quite a while now. Probably since we were little kids back at that summer camp, but after we met again in Kalos and journeyed together my feelings for him grew more and more."

Lillie: "Awe! You two would be so cute together!"

Serena blushed and smiled

Lana: "Does Ash know?"

Serena: "I'm not sure. He hasn't said anything to me."

Mallow: "Have you said anything to him?

Serena: "Well…I didn't exactly tell him…but…"

Lana: "What is it Serena?"

Serena: "The day I left for Hoenn, Ash was at the airport with me before my flight. I said goodbye to all our friends, but as I went down the escalator I knew there was one more thing I had to do before I left. So I ran back up the escalator…and I kissed him."

Mallow, Lana, and Lillie: "YOU KISSED ASH!!!"

Serena, whose face was super red, smiled, and nodded.

Lillie: "Well what happened after that? What was his reaction"

Serena: "He was shocked and kind of stood in place for a second but with a sparkle in his eyes. After that he gave me a big smile, waved, and wished me well."

Lana: "Sounds to me like you might have cracked Ash's dense shell."

Mallow: "I think Lana's right. From everything you've told us it sounds like Ash really cares about you and from all the stuff we've seen between you two since you've been here I definitely think he feels something for you whether he knows it or not."

Serena: "You really think so?"

Mallow: "Definitely! You have to tell him how you feel before you leave."

Lillie: "I agree. Just be honest with him."

Serena: "Alright, I'll do it!"

Mallow: "We're all rooting for you two Serena!"

Serena smiled at her friends.

…

Ash laying awake in bed, his thoughts racing.

"Pika?"

Ash: "Yeah buddy. Just thinking about what Kukui and Burnet were saying earlier."

"Chu? Pika?"

Ash: "I'm not sure, but I know I care about her a lot. She's just different than any other friend I've made along our journeys."

"Pika Pi"

Ash: "You really think she feels the same way?

"Pi! Pikachu! Pi"

Ash: "Hey I'm not that dense!"

"Piiikaa"

Ash: "Yeah I guess you're right. That kiss she gave me at the airport did mean more than I thought. Maybe I am pretty dense."

"Chu"

Ash: "Alright alright I get it. Now I know though and I'll be sure to tell her how I feel too. I just have to find the right time to do it."

"Pikachu"

Ash: "Thanks buddy. Why don't we try and get some sleep now though."

"Pika"

…

The next morning at Mallows restaurant

Kiawe: "Wow Serena these Pokepuffs are delicious!"

Serena: "Awe thank you Kiawe!"

Mallow: "After we found out that Serena was quite the baker I had to see what she could come up with. You're the my first customers to try our new menu item, the Alolan Pokepuff!"

Serena: "It was no big deal. I just find it flattering that you wanted me to create a new menu item for you!"

Sophocles: "These are so good, I could eat a hundred of them!"

Ash: "These might be the best Pokepuffs you've ever made Serena!"

Serena: "You say that about every Pokepuff I've ever made Ash."

Ash: "Well that's because they're all delicious!"

Serena giggled at Ash's comment

Ash: "How was your sleep over? What did you all do?"

Lillie: "It was so much fun! We had a little spa time together and with all of our Pokemon, we played some games, and even told stories of our time here in Alola and Serena talked a lot about your time in Kalos."

Mallow: "Yeah Ash, why didn't you ever tell us you saved the legendary Pokemon Zygarde and the WORLD against Team Flare?"

Kiawe: "How many legendary Pokemon HAVE you encountered?"

Sophocles: "And how many times HAVE you saved the world?"

Ash rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment: "Umm quite a few and a couple of times actually."

Serena just looked at Ash with admiration and a sparkle in her eyes.

Lillie: "We also watched some recordings of Serena's performances and contests! She's so amazing!"

Lana: "Yeah it was so awesome! I can't wait to see the performance you put on for us!"

Mallow: "Yeah could you do it today? Pleeeaaasseee!"

Serena nervously giggled: "I'd love to but I don't know where I'd do it?"

Ash: "What about at the Professors house? There's enough space outside and we could have everyone over to celebrate afterwards?"

Everyone was enthusiastic about the idea.

Serena: "Alright let's do it! I'm gonna need some time beforehand alone to practice a routine so let's all meet later at the professors house!"

Everyone was excited to see what Serena had in store for them. They finished their breakfast and went their own ways before meeting back at the professors house later to watch Serena's performance.

…

Later in the day everyone had arrived at Professor Kukui and Burnets place. Everyone waited with anticipation to see what Serena had in store for them. When she finally appeared everyone got excited, Ash on the other hand couldn't take his eyes off of Serena. She looked beautiful, Ash thought and not just in appearance but also her overwhelming passion for taking more and more steps to her dream. Her performance made everyone smile, exactly like she always wanted. She made him smile. He missed this, he missed being at her performances and seeing them in person, cheering her on. He missed being by her side through it all. As the performance ended, she was met with thunderous applause and cheers from all her friends. Afterwards everyone had a little party to celebrate.

As the party whined down and evening came everyone said their goodbyes and gave their thanks and praise to Serena for her wonderful performance. Serena went inside to change out of her performance outfit and back into her normal clothes. As she walked out the front door she saw Ash sitting in the sand overlooking the sunset above the ocean.

Serena: "Mind if I join you?"

Ash smiling: "Of course not."

Ash gave Pikachu a quick glance and smile and Pikachu started to head inside. Serena noticed this but thought nothing of it and decided to look off into the sunset.

Serena: "The sunsets over Alola are so beautiful."

Ash: "Yeah they are…you're really beautiful too, Serena."

Serena was shocked. Did she just hear that right? Did Ash just compliment her in such a bold way?

Serena blushing: "Thank you Ash."

Ash: "…I missed you a lot Serena. These past 11 months, I don't realize it at first, but after seeing you again…it really hit me."

Serena: "I missed you too Ash."

There was a brief pause in the conversation.

Ash: "Hey Sere-"

Serena: "Hey As-"

They both say at the same time

Ash: "It's okay, you go first."

Serena: "Do you remember how we parted ways in Kalos?"

Ash: "Of course I do, how could I forget? I was so surprised!"

Serena: "Yeah I was too. It was kind of a last second decision."

Ash: "You didn't think about it at all before you were headed off to Hoenn?"

Serena: "No I did, many times actually throughout our journey. I just didn't think I'd ever have enough courage to do it."

Ash: "Really?"

Serena: "Yeah. Ash, back during our journey together, I admired you so much. I admired everything about you. As we spent more time together and as I grew as a person, I realized it was more than just admiration. You did so much for me. You gave me so much. You taught me so much. I felt so deeply about you and after everything, I had to let you know."

Ash stares at Serena listening to her and smiling.

Serena: "When I…when I kissed you, Ash…that kiss, had so much meaning to me. It contained my thankfulness, my admiration, my deepening feelings for you…but most of all, it was my way of accepting the end of my first chapter of my journey, and starting the next part of my story, which I had to do alone. I wanted to go to Hoenn, completely secure in myself and secure in the way I felt towards you. Kissing you like that meant accepting my feelings, and could push forwards without them holding me back."

Ash: "I had no idea all this was going through your head."

Serena: "It's okay Ash. You were so focused on your training, our friends, on Greninja and I can't fault you for that at all! You cared about it all so deeply! I told you back then that you're the kind of person I want to be, but I knew I could only do that if I went alone."

Ash: "And you did it Serena! Would the Serena from Kalos have been this open and confident in talking to me about her feelings?"

Serena blushing: "I…I guess you're right."

Ash: It's amazing Serena! I never expected this but seeing you now, seeing you this confident, and secure about yourself…it makes me so happy.

Serena smiling: "Ash being around you again has been so amazing, and I'm reminded why I looked up to you so much. I..I'd be lying if I said that I didn't have strong feelings for you."

Ash smiling: "Splitting apart at the end of Kalos was the best thing for both of us. Especially because it led to us being her together again now being open and honest about our feelings towards each other."

Serena: "Wait…our feelings? Ash… you have feelings about me too?"

Ash: "Back in Kalos Serena, you were an amazing friend…and, maybe it could've been more than that, but I never really thought about it too much until the Lumiose Airport. I was too focused on my training."

Ash: "You're so confident, so kind, and still so caring! I…the more I think about how I feel about you..and the more I get to be around you…the more I realize how deeply I feel about you. I've never felt like this before…so I'm not quite sure how to deal with it…but one thing I am sure of is how happy I am with you by my side. From the time we reunited in Santalune City, you've done nothing but encourage me and drive me forward. If wanting to always be by your side means that I like you…then you were right. I really really like the person you've grown into."

Serena with sparkles in her eyes: "Ash…you remembered that?!"

Ash: "Of course I do! But there's one more thing."

Serena: "What is-"

Before Serena could finish her sentence, Ash closed the distance, pressing his lips against hers. Serena was stunned, she couldn't believe this was real. But when she did she melted into it, cupping Ash's cheek with her hand, never wanting to break their embrace. Until they both needed air.

Ash blushing a bit: "I really really like you Serena."

Serena blushing: "I really really like you too Ash."

Again their lips met, sharing their embrace under the Alolan sunset until night fell. Even then they didn't want to leave each other just yet so the two grabbed some sleeping bags and decided to stay up together under the stars until eventually their exhaustion took them.

…

The sun rose and the new couple started to wake. As they opened their eyes they couldn't help but smile at each other.

Ash: "Good morning Serena"

Serena: "Good morning Ash."

The two continued to gaze at each other, filled with happiness after their confessions last night.

Ash: "So, do you think we should let everyone know that we're a umm…what do you call it?"

Serena giggling: "A couple?"

Ash: "Yeah that!"

Serena: "Yeah I think that'd be great. Should we go start off with our Pokemon and the Professors?"

Ash: "That sounds like a good idea. I'm sure Pikachu is eagerly awaiting an answer?"

Serena: "Is that why you smiled at Pikachu last night and he ran off inside?"

Ash chucked: "Yeah"

The two walked inside and were greeted by Pikachu.

"Pikachu!"

Professor Kukuwi: "Good morning you two. I was wondering if you were going to be up soon. Did you guys have a good night?"

Ash: "Yeah, we actually have something we have to tell you guys."

All of Ash's Pokemon joined him as Serena let all of hers out of their pokeballs. Professor Kukui and Burnet looked at them with intrigue. Ash smiled warmly at Serena and then looked at everyone.

Ash: "Serena and I are a couple now."

"Pika!"

All of their Pokemon started to cheer for them.

Professor Kukui: "That's amazing! Congratulations you two!"

Professor Burnet: "We're so happy for you!"

Serena blushing while hugging Ash's arm: "Thank you!"

Professor Kukui: "Are you going to let everyone else know?"

Ash: "Yeah, why don't we go get together with everyone and give them the news."

Serena: "Sounds good to me!"

Ash and Serena let their friends know to meet them in front of the school and headed there together, walking hand in hand. Moments later they arrived.

Ash: "Alola everyone!"

Kiawe: "Alola Ash and Serena. So what did you have to tell us?"

Lillie noticed Ash and Serena holding hands.

Lillie: "What a minute…are you two…?"

Serena and Ash smiled at each other and Serena rose up their joined hands.

Lillie, Mallow, and Lana: "AHHHHHHHH!"

Lillie: "NO WAY, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!"

Mallow: "CONGRATULATIONS!!!"

Lana: "I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU TWO!!!"

Sophocles: "Ugh what's going on?"

Kiawe: "Yeah I don't get it, does someone want to fill us in?"

Mallow: "Ugh are all boys this dense?"

Ash smiling: "Serena and I are boyfriend and girlfriend."

Kiawe and Sophocles: "YOU'RE WHAT?!"

Ash: "Well guys it's Serena's last day before she has to head back to Hoenn. What should we do?"

Sophocles: "Oh I know we could go visit the observatory!"

Lana: "We could also go fishing!"

Kiawe: "We could go hangout at the farm."

Lillie: "We can go visit the Aether Foundation!"

Mallow: "And we could stop by my restaurant for some lunch!"

Serena: "It all sounds like so much fun!"

Ash: "Well then what are we waiting for?"

The gang decided to do everything with Serena. They went to the observatory, then stopped by Kiawes farm, went fishing at one of Lana's favorite spots, got some lunch at Mallows family restaurant, and then gave Serena a tour of the Aether foundation. After that everyone said their goodbyes for the day as Ash took Serena to see some more sights around Meleme Island as well as giving both of their mothers a call to let them know the big news along with Clemont, Bonnie, and even May and Dawn. Their mothers were so happy for the two of them. Bonnie was practically bouncing off the walls she was so happy and then told her brother that she needs to step up her game in finding him a "keeper". May and Dawn congratulated the both of them and made Ash promise to visit soon and May let Serena know she'd meet her at the airport when her flight lands tomorrow.

Serena: "It's starting to get late, should we head back home?"

Ash: "Actually I have a surprise for you back at the house."

Serena: "A surprise?"

Ash: "Yeah, come on let's go!"

Ash took ahold of Serena's hand as the started to make their way back to the Professors house.

…

Serena: "Well we're here Ash. What's the surprise?"

Ash walked over to a speaker in the sand and pressed play. Music now filled the air.

Serena: "What's this for Ash?"

Ash: "Do you remember Monsieur Pierre's dance party?"

Serena: "Of course."

Ash: "Well I remember you looking kind of sad when the music ended right before we got to dance together. After everything I think I now know why. So I want to make it up to you. Would you care to have this dance with me Serena?"

Serena smiling and blushing: "Oh Ash, you don't even have to ask!"

Ash grabbed Serena's hand and brought her close to him as they danced to the music, both smiling, and gazing into each other's eyes.

Serena: "Wait a minute, when did you learn how to dance?"

Ash chuckled: "Well yesterday when you were practicing your performance, I took that time practice too. I wanted to make sure I did it right and didn't step all over your toes."

Serena: "You're the sweetest Ash, thank you!"

Serena leaned in and gave Ash a quick peck on the lips. Ash still wasn't used to this yet but it made him feel really happy. She made him feel really happy. The two of them continued to dance into the night with the stars casting overhead.

Serena: "Hey Ash?"

Ash: "What is it?"

Serena: "Can you be there with me at the Grand Festival?"

Ash: "Of course! But only if you promise to come back to Alola when I partake in the Alola League."

Serena: " I wouldn't miss it for the world."

…

The next morning it was time for Serena to head back to Hoenn. Everyone went to the airport with her to say their goodbyes. All of her new friends wished her well while the Professors gave her their blessing to visit and stay with them anytime. All that was left is for Ash and Serena to say their goodbyes.

Serena hugs Ash as he tightly returns the hug.

Serena: "These past few days have been the best! Being around you and growing closer to you, has been more than I ever could have hoped for!"

Ash: "It's been an amazing few days, better than I could have ever imagined! You really are pulling off exactly what you dreamed of and I couldn't be more proud of you!"

Serena: "Awe…Ash…"

Serena gives Ash another hug, this time tighter than ever.

Serena: "I'm so thankful that I came to Alola…because it led me back to you."

Ash: "I feel the exact same way.

"Pikachu pika!"

Pikachu jumps to Serena's shoulder, rubbing up against her cheek. Serena hugs Pikachu back.

Serena: "I'll miss you too, Pikachu!"

Flight Latias 261 to Hoenn*

Serena: "Well…it's time for me to go. Thank you all for a wonderful vacation! I can't wait to see you all again!"

Everyone waves goodbye to Serena as she heads towards her gate.

Ash: "Hey Serena, Wait up!"

Serena: "Huh?"

Serena feels Ash's hand holding hers as she turns to face him. Next thing she knows is Ash's lips are pressed against hers. She looks at him in surprise while blushing and smiles.

The Professors smile happily while Mallow, Lillie, and Lana cheer and Kiawe and Sophocles stand there in shock with their jaws dropped.

Serena: "Ash…everyone…I'll see you all soon!"

Ash: "Bye Serena!"

Ash and everyone all wave enthusiastically

Serena turns around to face them one last time, smiling and waving at them, before stepping foot on the plane.

…

Time skip

"And that's it! After the battle to end all battles one trainer stands alone as the first Alolan Pokemon League Champion! And that trainer is Ash Ketchum!

The audience roars in applause. Ash over filled with joy hugs Pikachu and looks off into the crowd to see all of his friends and family their cheering for him but there's one person he notices in particular. Serena.

Later on Ash and all his friends go to the Professors house to celebrate. Each and everyone congratulating Ash on his well fought victory. The party leads well into the night but as it dies down the only people that are left are Ash and Serena, as they lay on the beach staring up at the stars.

Serena: "So how does it feel being the first ever Alolan Champion?"

Ash: "Surreal almost. I'm still kind of in disbelief. Is this how you felt after you won the Grand Festival?"

Serena: "Yeah I did, but it'll set in eventually."

Serena: "So Ash, what's your plan now that you won the Alolan league? Do you plan on staying here in Alola?

Ash: "Don't get me wrong, I love it here, but I still feel like I have so much to see and so much to do."

Serena: "Well what do you want to do?"

Ash: "I want to have another journey…with you by my side."

Serena: "I would love that Ash…but where would we go?"

Ash: "How about back to Kalos?"

Serena: "Kalos?"

Ash: "Yeah. Don't you want another shot at Kalos Queen now that you're a Top Coordinator? Plus I can retry the Kalos league again and beat Alain this time!"

Serena: "The Alolan Champion and a Top Coordinator adventuring through Kalos together. I like the sound of that."

Ash: "Soon to be Kalos Queen and Kalos Champion."

Serena: "That sounds perfect"

The two lean in and share a kiss under the stars.
