Hi everyone! It's another one...this one will probably be pretty short though. Just a little fic, a 'what if' I've had for a while.

Renesmee was looking in her dad's room for a new book to read when she found it.

She and Jacob were alone right now, since her parents were hunting. In their absence, she had run out of things to amuse herself with, so that was what led her to Edward's room. As she dug through his bookshelves, she wondered how he found anything. Then again, Edward was a vampire. He would just remember where he put things.

Giving up on the bookshelves, Nessie was about to leave when she saw something. One of the floor panels behind his sound system was loose. She shrugged—why not?—and knelt down to pull it up, lifting out a wooden box.

"Hey, Jacob," she called. "Look what I found!" He was there in a second, crouching beside her.

"What's inside?"

"I don't know, I haven't opened it yet." She tried, then frowned. "It's locked."

"Combo or key?"

"Key, and I have no idea where Dad keeps it."

"You could smash it," Jacob suggested. Nessie rolled her eyes at him.

"I'm not just going to smash it! For one thing, then Dad would definitely know we were snooping."

"You say that like he's not gonna know anyway."

"For another, there might be something breakable in here."

"Well…"

"And lastly, Dad obviously went through a lot of trouble to keep this. It was under a floor panel, which was hidden behind his sound system, covered with multiple boxes of CDs with just a corner peeking out, and it's locked. It's probably private."

Jacob rolled his eyes. "C'mon, Nessie. I really want to see what's in there! Plus, it's not like the dang mind reader gives us any privacy."

"He can't help it, we should leave it."

Jacob thought for a second. "How about this? We go to Alice, and ask her. If she knows, she'll tell us. If she doesn't, then she'll be just as curious as we are."

Renesmee thought it over for a second. "Fine. We'll bring the box with us."

"Yes!" Jacob scooped up the box and followed Renesmee out, the two running downstairs and out the door. They arrived at the house that was shared by the other members of the Cullen family, going in the back door and up the stairs to Alice's room. She was waiting for them, of course.

"Alice, do you know—"

Alice raised her hand to show that she was holding a tiny silver key. "Got it."

Nessie beamed at her. "Thanks! Will we open it here?"

"Sure." The three sat down and Nessie opened the box, reaching inside to take out an old leather-bound photo album. She glanced at the others before opening the first page.

The first photo in the album was black and white, and it showed her dad as a baby.

"Aww!" Alice cooed. "I'm going to show this to everyone in the house, Esme is going to adore this!"

Renesmee turned the page and stilled.

"Who's that?" she whispered. The photo on the page was also black and white, but this time it showed a tiny girl who looked spookily like Edward. Alice frowned.

"I don't know," she replied. "Keep looking!"

As they turned the pages, seeing more and more photos of that girl with Edward, Renesmee felt more and more like she was intruding on something.

We shouldn't be seeing this.

"No," said a cool, familiar voice from behind them. "You shouldn't."
