The warrior was not in the mood to continue partying, but this was not about her, thankfully, and she needed to be there to support her friend.
They both agreed to return to the event at different times, Sokka letting her go first so she could not return and grab again that bag of Jenamite, that he warned will send in the close future to Toph's squad to raid.
"Where were you?" Katara asked her worried, approaching "Zuko told me you went away with some guy and you didn't return"
"I'm fine, got to know him a bit better but…not my type" She rolled her eyes with a smirk, remembering the guy she got to run away with was her brother, her heart tinging a bit of losing Zuko's company.
"At least you came to the party. I don't know where are Toph and Sokka, they just disappeared" Katara replied annoyed, grabbing Suki's hand. "Please come sit with me, is awkward enough to sit with Malina alone"
"You have Aang, don't you?" Suki asked as they walked side by side, while Katara shrugged
"He does the diplomat part really well, it's just that talking to my stepmom is…still odd. This is a pre party that is planned by Aang's part so I get to supposedly enjoy" Katara ranted as they went to the bar. They both sat, waiting for the bartender to notice them.
"And you aren't having fun?" Suki asked concerned, seeing how the waterbender fidgeted with her fingers. "You are more assertive than that"
"I am, it's just getting into my head that I'm forming my own family, with this powerful bender and amazing friends by my side" Katara shared touching her necklace "And my own mother is away physically to share me her wisdom"
Suki felt for the girl, knowing too what it felt to grow up without a mother. Both adapted differently: she played the wife and Katara the mother.
"I'm sure your mother is trying to send you signs from above so you can listen to her" Suki tried to comfort her, leaning in to hug her. "I believe your intuition is your mother manifesting herself"
Katara's eyes watered, feeling good in confiding in her friend "I'm so glad to have a friend like you"
"I do my best" Suki smiled back, readjusting Katara's hair pin who felt out of place with the hug.
"I did also want to talk about…our relationship as friends" Katara began talking, as Suki listened to her with curiosity "Since that incident where I triggered that…that. I noticed you have kept your distance"
"I have" Suki admitted cringing at first at how the darkening overthrow her, then feeling a weight off her. Katara exhaled sadly, playing again with her fingertips. "I am sorry I admitted it like that-"
"You are right" Katara interrupted "What I meant to say is that I am still trying to amend it, I'm sure you had no ill intentions with my brother and I was overclouded with my feelings of family"
"I understand that too" Suki said smiling, remembering how she would still defend Sokka in front of her friends even after all those bad things she forgot he did to her. "I take no resentment, but it is a bit hard to gain all of that trust that quickly"
"And the distance hasn't helped at all" Katara answered as Suki nodded in agreement, the two girls sitting in a pained silence. "I meant it when I said you are like a sister to me"
"Yeah?" Suki asked tilting her head, remembering how scared of Katara she was once "After all that happened?"
"Your relationship with my brother is another thing, it was my mistake to…"
"Katara" Suki interrupted her, trying to loose the tension that started to form "I can let you vent, but you should know I have already forgave you about all that happened. If you want me to listen I will"
Katara eyes glazed upset. Not because Suki was being rude to her, but because the constant strain of defending her brother now provoked harsh conversations. Even if they both did their best to talk about…well…anything, nothing came out of their mouths.
"Here are my two favorite ladies" Sokka said grabbing each one by the shoulders, with a big smile in his face. Katara huffed annoyed, pushing him out of her shoulder. Suki let him mingle with her, trying to get used of him as a friend.
They could still interact friendly, they were past that ugly teenager heartbreak. She hoped.
"We were ordering some drinks, do you want some too? Zuko didn't deliver yours?" Katara asked "Right, you went I don't know where with Toph and Ty lee probably drowned yours"
"No worry lil sis! I have this back from the dessert exclusively for your party" Sokka said pulling out a flask. Suki snorted as she drank from her own.
"I can't believe you are still into that! It's very strong and I don't want you ruining the party" Katara said annoyed but with a smirk.
"That's because he hasn't tried Aang's reserve. That is really strong" Suki said as Sokka and Katara got interested.
"Where did you know that?" Sokka asked, Katara put her hand on her mouth trying to remember any type of alcohol in their department.
"I got a really good welcome back on the boat" Suki said smiling "Maybe I can ask for some more so you can try it"
"YES" Sokka said almost screaming, making Katara frown. "I have meant to try something even bigger or better than cactus juice!"
"I'm not sure if it will top it ever" Katara replied remembering the day they announced their engagement.
"Alright, let me go get it" Suki said walking to the dancefloor, reaching the monk that was easy to spot. Her firm hand got Aang out of the center, smiling at her.
"Are you enjoying yourself too?" Aang asked as he bobbed the head at the rhythm of the music.
"Of course! It's such a great event." Suki confirmed letting herself loose to some of the music too. "I was wondering if you could provide us some more drinks?"
"Sure! Is there any in particular you want?" Aang asked her as they walked towards the siblings.
"Maybe the one Toph made us drink…she said it was your special reserve"
Aang lighted up and flew towards the back, Suki blinked and laughed as she sat again by Katara, who was trying to keep up with Sokka's story.
"What does that even had to do with the party Sokka?" She asked as Sokka stopped talking to pay all of his attention to Suki, who re grabbed the drink.
"So?" He asked excited, making Suki raise an eyebrow.
"He went flying to the back, I'm sure he will either make it or bring it out. He didn't mutter anything else" She replied as Katara looked alarmed.
"You said to the back?" Katara said standing up, her face showing worry.
"What's wrong with the back sis?" Sokka said as Katara moved past him.
"Nothing is wrong with the back!" She screamed angered before turning away and running, leaving behind her startled friends.
"I think something is wrong with the back" Suki said again smirking
"Definitely" Sokka agreed as they eyed each other, the happiness in their eyes was contagious, laughing heartly at their own words.
"I thought you didn't drink anymore" Suki said peeking the lie as Sokka blushed
"I…I drank yesterday, yes. I was nervous" He admitted as Suki played with her drink, blushing at the thought of driving Sokka that nervous. "But I swear I hadn't drink anything before"
"I believe you" She replies, a fun idea for her popping in her mind. The devilish grin expanding as Sokka looked intrigued, and frankly, in love. He couldn't care less that this was entirely platonic.
He knew that wasn't platonic. He just didn't care he was caught.
"What are you thinking?" He asked as hearts almost poured out of his mouth, compossing Suki.
"What if…we spiked all of our friends drinks?" She said as if it was the greatest idea ever.
"what?!" Sokka said shocked "That's a bad idea, It could be dangerous!"
"Why? I don't think we are in danger here" Suki replied grabbing his face and turning it to the crowd of people dancing. It was an excuse for her to touch him and he didn't mind.
They had been flirting and it came naturally.
"See? Even if something happened everything is under control with all the guards patrolling, I trained them so I trust them" Suki said with the devil in her eyes. "You in?"
"Deal"
After Aang came back with the bottle to them and went to dance again, the pair split up their objectives:
Suki would lure and spike Zuko's, Toph's and Katara's drinks, while Sokka would do Electra's, Ty Lee and Aangs'.
Sokka put on the mix of Aangs his cactus juice, both shaking it excitedly before walking around with the people, searching for the glasses.
Zuko was on the other side of the room chilling before Suki approached him, a tint of guilt and regret as she stopped.
"What?" He asked, making Suki feel horrible for trying to spike his drink.
"I…came here to check on you" She lied, pulling out the bottle from behind her and towards his view, as a sign of friendliness. "You are here alone"
"I like being alone" Zuko reminded her, putting his glass so it would be poured. Suki helped him with that.
"But I know you don't like this loneliness. Why don't you come mingle with us?" She said in her sweetest tone. It was already bad that they had broken up, but Zuko was wanting to see how long his love would last under this conditions. Letting her be free and possibly, reuniting with Sokka.
"Why would I?" Zuko said harshly before drinking and calming himself. "Sorry, I'll go in a few minutes. Give me some time"
Suki felt guilty about Zuko's revert in attitude. Walking back to the dancefloor stunned, it was just for a few seconds as she remembered her mission and walked away with shame.
"You okay?" Toph asked her "I can feel you"
"Yeah no, I'm confused" She confessed, wanting to swig from the bottle but doing her best to abstain. Toph noticed and grab it.
"Let's take you away from this" Toph instinctively drank it, making Suki reach it before she got poisoned from all the liquid she got.
"Slowwwwly!" Suki screamed as Toph laughed, she grabbed her towards the bar so they would sit and talk calmly. Katara came back to the same spot and saw them, walking fast to vent out about the organization on the back of the venue.
It was almost a beach party but she saw some reporters over there, she would not tolerate the evening of her friends be ruined.
She grabbed Suki's drink and chugged it.
"How convenient" Suki thought biting her lip, she intended to actually get drunk with the mix of cactus juice and Aang's brew, but Katara grabbing was doing the little game she actually was playing with Sokka too easy.
Her eyes danced around the room until he saw the sky blue looking from the other side, big grin as he danced with Aang, bottle on hand.
"Lord this is strong" Katara arched disgusted "What in Tui are you drinking?"
"Somehing you probably shouldn't have" Suki replied giggling, while Toph was already bobbing her feet to the beat of the music.
Toph usually doesn't like concerts or music, she doesn't even dance but today she was in a really good mood.
"Let's go dance girls!" Toph screamed grabbing both hands, not waiting for an answer as she dragged them to the dancefloor.
Suki kept the bottle and mingled around, Toph was already getting dizzy as she chugged a whole, but Katara was still too aware for her liking. She made her best to offer Katara who rejected cordially.
But that was impossible with Toph by the side.
"Hey hey hey what do you mean you won't get wasted? Tomorrow is your day! SIR!" Toph screamed waving her hand as a barman came quickly to her. "What are you drinking?"
"This is not necessary, thanks sir" Katara said dismissing him, as Toph frowned
"Then drink!" She coerced, while Suki tried to hide the bottle. "Pour her!"
"No Toph, she doesn't want to" Suki said siding with Katara, the waterbender smiled.
"Of course bombshell would side with sugar queen" The earthbender said with the intention to pull Katara out of her mind.
It worked
"And what? She is right, you can't force people to drink Toph, it's not even that funny" Katara defended as Suki raised an eyebrow at the interaction. The more Toph danced the more it seemed the drink hit her.
"Of course not, funny is not a word in your life at all. I bet you won't even try doing something out of character because you are…"
"Don't" Suki warned as she saw how angry Katara was getting.
" D" Toph spelled slowly, angering her.
"I'll show you what bland is!" Katara replied while looking at something to do. She saw no other choice but give in to the chugging, grabbing Suki's bottle and drinking it till the last drop.
"Hey!" Suki said surprised that she used water bending to do it "I didn't get any of it!"
Katara played with the taste before finishing, the nausea and dizziness hitting her as she stood in the dance floor, Toph grabbing her with a grin to dance around.
Suki grinned too, seeing how comfortable with touching Toph had become the drunker she got.
Sokka dancing with Aang was something he had to experience too before he was completely taken away by his sister. He sure managed to not get drunk even if Sokka had already poured a lot.
Maybe he needed more cactus juice, which he did and nothing changed.
"Let me catch a breath Souka!" Aang said sweating, stopping his dancing mid step. "Take someone out, look! Toph, Suki and your sis are there" He said throwing him to where the group was.
Suki noticed him first and smiled, turning her back to him as she danced more on beat.
"She has to be doing this on purpose" He said with his eyes glued to her body, before blinking rapidly and going to the couches, where Electra and Ty Lee chatted. Sokka had to smile at how Ty lee managed to get along with anyone.
Electra was even smiling a bit.
"Hey Sokka!" Ty Lee chirped higher than usual, Electra only waved, taking a sip of her drink.
"Sup! I got something better to drink here" He said putting upfront the bottle. He was not about to do it without their consent. Sokka knew better than to deceive them, so he would play games with them and get drunk too.
"I thought you didn't drink anymore" Electra asked stunned, Sokka gave a half smile.
"Life is too short to not get in the mood with everybody" Sokka said dancing with his arms. "My sisters wedding is my opportunity to do it"
Electra looked suspicious to it.
"Is it spiked?" She asked while Ty Lee looked shocked.
"Would you spike us?!" Ty Lee exclaimed angered.
"No! No! it is Aang's brew with cactus juice I swear!" Sokka said with both hands on the air while Ty Lee and Electra shared a curious look.
"What does Aang's brew taste? I had tried Cactus but not mixed" Electra asked as Ty Lee eyes shone.
"IT TASTES AMAZING. WE SHOULD DO BBODY SHOTS!" She said immediately pouring the liquid in the glass shots. "Is there more?!"
"I think this bottle is all" Sokka said apologizing "Well, Suki had…"
"SUKIIIIIIIIII!" Ty Lee screamed as the girls stopped on the dance floor, Zuko and Aang turning everywhere to search for something that might attack them.
Sokka blushed as her purplish-blue eyes focused on him, asking loudly
"What the-"
"You have more alcohol! Bring it!" Ty Lee mouthed as Suki took her time to read it.
"If you are all saying something I can't hear it" Toph said bored "Can't you actually talk?"
"We are playing games" Zuko said "Let's go"
"Wow! Grumpy pants is in the mood?" Toph said clinging to his arm "I like you"
Zuko blushed as they walked towards the table, they would probably end up as wasted as in the big ceremony of Republic City.
Katara, Aang and Suki walked behind them, grinning at how Toph showed love.
"Get into it!" Ty Lee screamed as they all raised their shots "But not yet!"
"Then why did you scream it?" Toph asked irritated, already wanting to drown in more shots.
"We will do body shots" Electra explained to everyone amusement, Katara couldn't hide her mouth open in shock.
"My stepmother and dad are in here! There is no way I'm doing that" The waterbender excused herself as Aang smiled with empathy.
"Of course you wouldn't" Toph joked as Katara looked at her annoyed. She knew how to get under her skin easily.
"You know what? I'll go first" Katara said moving everything and getting in the table.
"KATARA!" Sokka said shocked as Suki and Electra sat him. "That's my sis!"
"Relax Sokka" Electra calmed stroking his hair, a ting of jealousy in Suki made it ignore it while they all fought where the shot would be put in.
"Hey belly seems fine to me!" Ty Lee said putting it. "Go Aang!"
Aang blushed as he saw Sokka looking with killer eyes. All of them laughed at Aang's hesitation, except of course, Aang and Sokka.
"Oh Tui and La" Electra exclaimed walking around the table and grabbing the back of the braid, leaning over Katara to grab the shot from her bellybutton, quickly drowning it.
The boys and Toph where shocked while the girls cheered on her.
"That's the attitude! My turn!" Ty lee said immediately as she put her cleavage together as Electra put the shot in. "Who wants it?"
Suki was really tempted to take it, but it would break the sobriety in the deal she and Sokka made so she abstained from it. She was really missing being drunk.
Zuko and Electra eyed each other, while Katara and Aang looked nervous.
"Can someone guide me?" Toph asked as Electra quickly grabbed her, helping her round Ty Lee body and put the mouth where the glass was.
"Fuck" Zuko muttered, looking away at the graphicness of the scene. He wasn't drunk enough.
"Why so shy firelord?" Suki joked as Zuko turned crimson, realizing he was going next.
"Yeah!, I'll go" He said as the blush in his face got redder, sitting with his legs open, waiting for the shot to be put. Electra guided Toph and both looked around at their friends to see who was willing to do it.
Electra and Katara directly looked at Suki, who blushed and tried to look at Aang, who was clenching his teeth at the awkwardness. It was either Ty Lee, him or Suki to do it.
"Alright" Aang said bending his knees and grabbing the shot from Zuko's crotch, making the firelord laugh. Suki mentally thanked Aang's other life, Kyoshi. It was definitely a sign from above.
"When you said if we met each other before and be friends, I certainly didn't imagine this" He said giggling as Aang laughed loudly.
"This was exactly what I had meant" Aang replied as he sat beside Zuko. Katara quickly grabbed the shot and placed it on the monks toned chest, licking it clean to everybodys shock.
"I think they are way too drunk" Suki whispered to Sokka who was having it difficult to repress the disgust in seeing his sister like that.
"Yeah" He whispered back "Maybe I need it too to forget what I saw"
"Hold up! Suki and Sokka haven't drink anything!" ty lee acused as the friends grinned, the pair feeling caught.
"You haven't either!" Suki accused as she quickly pinned Sokka down to the table, who didn't have the time to react at all, placing the glass between his cheeks.
Electra ugly laughed at the image of the manly Sokka having a shot shoved down his butt crack, ready for Ty Lee to drink it. The sign she was also too drunk.
"You are dirty commander!" Ty lee said grabbing the glass and drinking, finishing it with a spank at Sokka's butt, making him squeak embarrassed.
"We are all done" Sokka said as he sat away from the table. "Let's go dance!"
"Not so fast" Toph devil smirk appeared, while Aang's mouth mimicked a swear word the pair couldn't recognize. "You aren't drunk, not fair"
"How could you even know that?" Aang asked trying to save them "Look at their faces!"
And that sealed them, as they tried their best to look drunk enough and failed miserably.
"Your turn!" Electra said with the devil inside her. She had a better objective at view at this point: probably marrying the firelord. She walked (clumsily) towards Suki, taking advantage at the cleavage on her neck and chest.
Suki's eyes widened and couldn't move fast enough to avoid the liquid hitting her body, the alcohol landing on her cheek and neck. She sighed scared, looking wide eyed at Electra and then to Zuko, almost as if asking for permission.
Zuko stared intensely, drowning in the drink without staring away.
"Go!" Katara started chanting, as Sokka and Suki stared shocked. Sokka was dying to do it, but not without Suki's consent. The lights changing softly accentuated the features and edges in Suki's face.
"GO! GO! GO!" Their friends started chanting as Sokka was unsure on how to lick out Suki.
"Should I do it sitting? Standing? I tower over her, do I lay her down?" Sokka thought as he got close to her, leaning out her neck so he could access it easily in the position.
"We need to see it to believe it, so don't turn away" Ty Lee said seductively, as Aang looked around nervously. He noticed Zuko burning them with his eyes and then something clicked inside.
They are dating. The letter was true after all. Zuko and Suki are dating.
Sokka put Suki in his legs so he wouldn't have to hunch his back, giving a quick lick to her neck.
"That's not it! Slower!" Electra chanted as Suki wanted to die inside. It was almost a punishment.
Sokka rolled his eyes as they all started chanting, wanting to act as if he felt nothing, something Toph probably caught it was bullshit but she was enjoying this too much to say something.
Suki looked down and saw the hesitation in Sokka's eyes, his lips parted as if holding a breath. She nodded and looked away, electricity shocking her as his warm tongue started at her collarbone, slowly ascending towards the back of her ear.
"Don't forget her cheek!" Katara screamed as they all laughed, Suki's blushed deepening as his mouth ran towards it, feeling ecstatic.
"Fuck" Suki thought as Sokka said it, as they all cheered on him completing the task the way they wanted.
"Now the only one missing is…Sukiiiiii~" Toph said with glee as she was sitting still, unsure whom would be the partner she would be drinking of.
"No! Zuko hasn't drink a shot either!" Suki accused as they all started clumsily counting, realizing Suki was right.
"Loserlord was keeping it really quiet huh!" Toph mocked as she looked around who would be the perfect victim.
"I'll be the meat" Electra said laying down the table, making everybody admire the toned physique, apparently, without working out. Suki would lie if she didn't admit it was hot, but she was not drunk enough to feel odd at drinking at someone who willingly hurt people, it was something that still didn't sit right.
When she did it was in survival, not as a punishment.
"Both of you! Choose your location" Ty Lee said as Zuko and her avoided eye contact, Suki decided to grab the lower back.
"Sokka, are you swure it's fine?" Zuko asked politely, reminding everyone he was not single, even if it the rumors said they both were not into each other.
"It's a game" Sokka said as serious as he could, even if the mix was not direct it was starting to make an effect on him, after almost 2 years of not drinking it was bound to happen.
"Okay" Suki said lowering and briefly gazing Zuko, who was doing his best to not look at her.
"One…thuuuu….threee!" They all cheered as Suki and Zuko grabbed it and drank it. Coughing shortly after.
"Now we can all go dance" Toph said happily as they helped Electra down the table. She immediately grabbed the earthbender for balance.
"Nice" Toph said as Electra heartbeat rushed, not knowing if it was good or bad she couldn't see her face.
Zuko was starting to feel sleepy, as he danced around with Ty Lee, trying to see where Suki was but failing as Ty circles were making him dizzy.
"Isn't this the best thing?" Ty Lee said as they spun with the music, loosening him more.
Aang and Katara slow danced even if the music was not in the mood of it, breaking their dance at times to just kiss each other and mumble sweet words.
Suki and Sokka sat in opposites couches, unable to stand up for the fear of their feelings betraying them.
Suki was not willing to be the second girl of any guy, not Zuko, Not Sokka. It was still hard for her to control the wanting of be close and dance.
Their eyes connected and it was their doom. Sokka could feel it in the way she saw him, even if they were meters apart he recognized that look: parted lips, slightly pouting, with big intense eyes. He stood up and stretched his hand, waiting for her to answer.
She looked now conflicted.
"I don't give a fuck anymore" Sokka started, moving around his arms "About what they think, what they might say, let's just flow with it and not think everything through"
"Not this! It's not that easy and you are-"
"Don't think it too much, you are my soul and heart. What will they even say if they don't see us?" Sokka said with a grin, reaching for her hand and squeezing it for consent. As she consented, he grabbed her and guided her to the bathrooms, were the lights kept a constant strobe that made her dizzy.
The invention of lighting and metal was something amazing.
As they made their way to the back and the lights continued flashing, Sokka cornered her while searching for her hands.
They exploded. Suki was too proud and stubborn to let him kiss her, after all, he was still taken. They danced at the little bits of music they could hear and with their lips, almost touching, caressing but not kissing.
It drove Sokka crazy, scooting closer as they kept their game. Until someone came too at the corner.
Suki saw red but was too confused to see if it was actually Zuko.
"Zukko?" Suki dragged the name as Sokka got to the side. He didn't hesitate and started kissing her, right in front of Sokka.
She was too confused and drunk to remember Sokka was right there. The passion and intensity in which Zuko kept kissing her made her loose her guard and moan a bit.
She could feel someone pressing her back, and that was not the wall.
"Loose yourself" Zuko whispered as he kept kissing Suki, Sokka dancing behind her not being sure why he was indulging in that game.
He didn't share. But Suki was not his, so until she chose or stop it, he would be there. .
Suki turned around and Sokka had a new determination in his eyes, how that turned her on. He leaned closer until she could smell the bit of alcohol in him.
"Fuck yes" Suki said as Sokka devoured her, his body grinding on her while he grabbed her head and face. Zuko's hand went to her legs and favorite place, making Suki moan while kissing Sokka.
Now that was a flex.
Sokka was not about to be let behind so he stopped their kissing and continued liking her neck, making her roll her eyes to the back and feel weak. Not even on her wildest dreams she would imagine this.
She turned around and Zuko welcomed her with a kiss, making Sokka want some. A egoistical and lustful idea entered her mind as she stopped kissing Zuko.
Both boys looked at her drunk too, the layer of sweat was a testimony on how hot and small the area was for them. She felt lucky enough to try it.
Her hands rounded both heads and leaned them to her. Sokka was the first to hesitate and she dropped his head, not wanting it to be uncomfortable. If her friends did this it wasn't that far fetched to try it with the boys she loved.
Maybe she didn't have to think about choosing one in a perfect world.
Sokka leaned in front again and the three locked lips, the three bodies interwinding themselves. Zuko opened a bathroom and grabbed them both inside, too high to care with whom he was sharing Suki.
Sokka stared, his mind blurring between drunkness and sobriety, walking like a zombie where Suki and Zuko ate each other.
"What am I doing here?" He thought as he grabbed Suki's dress and helped loose it, cupping her breasts. Suki searched his face and pulled him in for a kiss, his mouth devouring her as Zuko kissed the rest of her body.
"This is not as bad as I thought" Suki thought as she moaned in Sokkas mouth, feeling unsure on how to act with two boys at once. Her hand searched for his member and quickly found it, Sokka tunning in more quietly.
Zuko felt jealousy and pulled himself upwards again to her breasts and neck, helping Suki's other hand to find him, which she did.
She moved to one boy to the other, until she helped them again to kiss the three together, high in the feeling.
The next day it was an ugly day for all.
Sokka was not that drunk to ignore the fact that he had kissed Suki and Zuko. The rest is blackout for him.
He woke up to his hair untied and pain in his back. He looked at the mirror and saw some scratches on his shoulders. He knows then what happened but not how it happened.
"Damn it, how the fuck was that so strong?" Sokka thought as he looked at himself, going in for a cold shower. Trying his best to remember what happened at the bathroom.
Images of what happened flashed on his mind, making his face red. Even thinking about them would make him feel naughty and that was not the mood he wanted to be in the whole day.
Changing into his ceremonial suit for the chapel, Sokka waited outside Suki's room, trying to see if she could remember anything that happened the night and to apologize on breaking their promise.
Even if both were drunk it was not a real consent.
"She is already gone, we are waiting for you" Toph called as Sokka turned as a foxdeer caught, walking fast to where Katara and company were.
Electra, Malina and Katara mingled as they tried to help the bride's nerves. Sokka looked with nostalgia at his lil sister, who was now getting married.
"You look absolutely stunning" Sokka said to his sister, who fought the urge to cry as the siblings hugged. "Aang is really the luckiest man"
"I agree, you look superb" Toph said with an honest smile. "Let's get moving before he thinks you backed out"
"He would never think that" Katara replied proudly.
Electra looked fresh as ever, probably thanks to the makeup, as they boarded the car, ready to get close to the boardwalk. Sokka was on the companions sit and looked at the gigantic crowd of press and people who wanted to give the avatar's lover their blessings.
Sokka smiled, the love of the people must warm Katara too as she couldn't stop smiling.
Entering the little tent they put so Katara would have more privacy to board Appa, they quickly flew and bittersweet feelings rushed inside Sokka.
His sister was getting married, she would be gone and form her own family. She was no longer little sister, she is Katara, but Katara would never leave him alone, or so he thought. Their relationship was just starting to rekindle.
Would it all go down the drain the moment she was a full time wife?
"Sokka it's time" Electra said as Appa waited for them to go down, Katara looking at him with nostalgia too. "We will give both of you time"
"Thank you, love" Sokka said for the first time in public, nickinaming her to express his gratitude when he was at his lowest. The urge to cough was high as they both sat looking at each other.
"I need to go" Katara said urging him to say something, as he panicked and tried to put in order all the ideas he had.
"I will miss you sis" Sokka said squeezing both hands "My heart is sad but happy that the man who will take care of you and love you is Aang. So I know my duty protecting you full time is fulfilled…."
"But you won't stop right?" Katara said cleaning a tear "You are my big brother, I need protection from time to time"
"If that fucker burns you again I will" Sokka said laughing as he teared "Anything for my sis, even if we had fought"
"Or we aren't as close as before" Katara finished bitting her lip, as Sokka just nodded.
"I love you sis, go be happier than ever" Sokka said as he kissed her cheek, Katara feeling nervous now that she had Sokka's blessing.
Sokka quickly walked towards the back of the chapel were Aang and Zuko were waiting.
"Now?" Zuko asked as Sokka nodded, making Aang walk to the small gathering at the chapel, waiting for the girls to enter.
He couldn't still believe how lucky he was at Katara choosing him as her partner for life. He could only pray for the spirits that life would give him enough years to outlive her and protect her.
He stood straight staring at the door, the heartbeat increasing rapidly as he tried to calm himself.
Katara was nervously waiting at the back as the organizer checked out everything.
"Water, heal, protect, mom, water, heal, protect, mom" Katara quickly repeated on her head trying to get calmed, as she gripped her flowers harder.
"Ready?" Suki asked as Katara smiled nervously. "You look so gorgeous Katara, I hope Aang doesn't faint"
"I will get violent if he does" Katara replied laughing out loud, contagious enough for Suki to laugh.
"GO" The planner said as the music sounded in the chapel.
The boys looked at the girls entering. Aang nervously waited for the brown hair to appear, convinently putting the girls in order of height.
Electra's beautiful turquoise gown flowed as free as her curled tied up hair, making some boys on the crowd swoon. Toph followed behind with her traditional armor and green robes underneath, ambiguous enough to not know if it where pants or skirt, her hair was the usual updo with a few flowers to commemorate that it was a wedding.
Ty Lee pink tight-in the right places- dress with a bit of spark showed the new trendy look of the fire nation, her hair done in a high ponytail with strands out.
Sokka looked in love at the sight of Suki.
It was a simple yet beautiful dress, silk that made her skin shine brighter than Ty Lees sparkles. As opposed of having fully green, the dress incorpored two colors: light blue and light green, it was also something really odd as the process of making one of those dresses was expensive. Her hair let down with a half up do that let her face be seen from every angle.
She looked at Sokka as she took her place, fluttering her eyes as she quickly looked at his traditional clothing: The furs make him look really good.
Aang couldn't help but shed some tears as he saw Katara walk towards him. Her hair in a beautiful curled updo with a sheer clothe that covered her face. Her white and blue dress that flowed thanks to the layers of fur and silk that mixed. Katara did her best to not cry as she looked right through Aang.
He only managed to mouth wow. As the judge took his place behind Aang and Katara, they could not stop gazing happily into each other, wanting more than ever to be officially known as tied couple.
Aang lost in her beauty, noticed how she was wearing his brethodal necklace, making wide his eyes. Katara only nodded, touching it as a signal to him that it was official. Her mother would always be in her heart, sharing space with Aang.
For now, it was time to move forward with time. As it helps heal and put things into place.
"Aang, Katara. You will now be officially be a couple to the law and to the eyes of the citizens. Do you accept each other to protect, nurture, take care, love and hold until one or both perish?"
"We do" they said in union and did not wait for the judge to let them kiss as they did, the moment he stopped talking everybody clapped and cheered for the new couple. The group quickly ran to hug them, some tears and some blabbered speech spoke as the avatar tried to listen to everybody.
"Time to party everybody!" Toph screamed as they all went to the exit. They each gathered for Appa to take them out or to catch a boat if they didn't want to wait.
As much as Suki was happy for her friends, she couldn't help but feel as a shadow followed her as she moved. Seeing as how Electra and Sokka talked, the picture perfect couple. The comparison was killing her, thinking too much about if they were or weren't something.
She felt played.
"Are you okay?" Zuko asked stepping "You don't look so happy" He reminded her face as she softened the expression.
"I think I'm thinking too much about people who don't even know me" Suki admitted turning away, waiting for Appa. "You don't look that happier"
"I can't be if you are not my date for the night" Zuko asked as Suki blushed, almost turning her head to see if anyone caught them.
"You broke up with me" Suki said upset, her head racing at how not only Sokka played, also Zuko.
"I was wrong. You told me you would make me not love you the moment you wanted to go with somebody else. Until then…" Zuko said as if feeling the dignity in his bones was being shredded away "I can be lonely with you, would you let me?"
Suki was speechless, feeling as probably, both boys felt at some point during all the interchanging.
"To break your heart…I would need to…"
"Be fully back with Sokka" Zuko admitted "Until you are not, I don't care. Let's get out" He said regarding their status.
"No" Suki said feeling confused. "Let me…let me put in order my feelings and then, maybe I can give you an answer"
Zuko sighed deeply, feeling the reject blatantly was hurtful. Even if he knew he had no chance at ever getting in the long term a marriage. Something that seeing today reminded him why he wanted that with Suki.
"I know it's not helpful at all" Suki continued putting her hand on his shoulder "But you are an excellent partner"
"I hope that can be the it for you" Zuko replied with a small smile, his hopes not declining completely by the mere compatibility they share. Suki blushed
"I made a promise, I don't forget about that" Suki reminded him, as they saw their turn on Appa finally being available. They walked and saw that their companions would be Ty Lee and Toph, so laughter and tears of joy were the things they all shared towards the venue.
The group was in awe as they saw the decorations on the place, candles lighting with winter flowers and comfortable seatings so they all could mingle and eat with the couple. The reason behind being a medium wedding.
Suki saw how serious Sokka looked at the side of the food stand, eating his jerky alone. She snorted at how that was so Sokka. She went to grab some cookies as she was still nervous and confused at what to stand for.
His eyes were glued on her as she got closer to the table, as she tried her best to ignore him.
"We broke up" Sokka said as he stopped eating. Suki hand stopped picking cookies as she sighed.
"Why now? You just wanted to have a back up in case I said no?" She asked hurt, as Sokka got closer.
"No. It was mutual that it had to be after my sisters wedding. Electras has had too much scandals and that's not good for her career" Sokka explained as Suki was now in turn, eating the cookies, listening if that excuse would be enough.
"How considerate" Suki said with sarcasm, as she rolled her eyes. Sokka expected it, his reason behind talking right now was not only about Electra.
"You look so breathtaking…" Sokka said in a whisper as he turned serious in shyness. "I wish this conversation was different"
"I wished that too…you are not so bad" Suki replied more bravely, playing with her food.
Sokka got courage to talk about the party they had the night before.
"I want to apologize for yesterday too" Sokka said more serious than ever, catching her attention.
"We both wanted to play that" Suki said but was interrupted quickly by Sokka.
"No. In the bathroom, do you remember?" Sokka asked as Suki thought about it for some minutes. The horror on her face hit her as she could not remember what she did.
"I think the juice was too hard because I can't remember…Was I that bad?" Suki asked worried as Sokka smiled a bit.
"At the risk of sounding like a pervert, it was quite the contrary. But now more than ever, was not right" Sokka apologized sadly
"Sokka…what did I do?" Suki asked grabbing his forearms in support, feeling dizzy.
"We…uh…you…ehrr…" Sokka blabbered blushing hard, as Suki tried her best to remember. "Zuko…and I…"
Then the kiss came back to her mind.
She gasped audibly and covered her mouth and face.
"I remember short bits too! So…I don't know either what did I do too…." Sokka said now grabbing her. "I guess it all exploded because…"
"Let's just…not…" Suki said really shy, wanting to drown in alcohol. "I can't believe my first was with both of you…"
Sokka ear perked but felt guilty. "Suki, I'm really sorry"
"Don't. it's not that it wasn't pleasurable…but.." Suki wanted to say it. "I don't want to taint my image even more" She thought.
"You cannot be tainted" Sokka replied reading her face. "We are not perfect and I don't plan you to be. You are Suki, and I love you just the way you are"
Both were flushed at the conversation and the location was not the ideal one, as she could feel eyes on both of them as they talked.
"I love you too" She said floating, ignoring for a bit that the slow dance had already started. The stage was full of them.
"Can we…share a dance?" Sokka asked "Only if you want to"
Suki wanted to grab his hand and run away were only both could talk and kiss with no one judging. But it was nor right or fair. At least she would give the boy the merits of waiting for too long.
She got closer and kissed his cheek, taking a breath out of him.
"Maybe later" Suki said walking away, seemingly searching for someone to mingle with that was not Sokka.
Sokka was admiring how graceful she looked walking, even rejecting him was something that had drawn him more to her. She could never be perfect and she might get tired of hearing him sometimes, but Suki knew in her heart that Sokka could win her as easily as just putting out a carved stone.
But today she ought to be alone and to treat them as friends to know what to feel again.
"Firelord, this letter came from the fire nation and is urgent for you to read" A guard said taking him out of his thoughts as he danced with Ty lee, worrying her and urging him to open it. He walked to the couch to open it and read the contents.
Dear firelord. I know about your relationship with the guard.
You must know about this letter she wrote the night she stormed off the prisoner room.
I hate you so much. I hate that I feel more love than yesterday for you, after all these years we had cut contact.
I could still carry on your lack of love towards me. Whenever we were together we acted as partners in crime, laughing, crying until sleeping, leaning into each other until the distance disrupted the love we supposedly had.
How is that I have not had any closure?
I just to need to know.
How it happened? When did you stopped loving me?
That will give me the final stop. I just need you to come to me, tell me why. Please this time around be…tactful. Yes, the last letter you sent me after the year we wrote to each other is still on my drawer.
Friend, friend, friend. Every time I turn my head in this room there is a memory of you there. All those good and bad times we spent. You poison me, strangle me with all these feelings.
Tell me the truth this time.
After so much thinking this is the rawest letter you will receive from me.
I miss hearing from you, I miss seeing you smile. It hurts worse than being burned thinking about you, I yearn to finally let go of this bond to you. I am lying to myself when I wrote that, but I'm acting my part as a damn routine because I could swear my life has stopped since...
Nothing feels the same, these three years of therapy? Yeah right, the only thing that made me realize is that I have responsibilities and that I should be happy with what I have.
Ignore the wet parts in the page, I hate that they might ruin the ink. Sokka, whenever you have the chance, I hate you from having this much space in my heart and brain.
Maybe I cling into you so much because you are the opposite of what my father was the last time I saw him.
I do not plan to be the apple of doom between Electra and you. But I do need to reach for you after all this time, I am finally ready to stop isolating myself and feelings. That break up was not the end and we both know it.
Reach for me, please.
Suki
Zuko wanted to break the paper, in his face being the fact that it was true all of this. Another slap in his face that nothing would ever be official as Suki just stringed him along. He saw her with anger and could not help it to walk towards her, as she looked confused of the scowl in his face as he approached her.
Sokka saw it on the distance and tried to walk but was stopped.
"Sokka…I think…I think you need to know now" Aang said as Sokka looked hurt. "You do get what I am saying right?"
Aang looked to Zuko and Suki who were currently in a small quarrel. The letter in his hand had to be now unrecognizable by how hard he gripped it. Sokka put two and two together.
They were dating.
Zuko was the boy they talked the other day about in the beach, where she admitted she had feelings for him.
"I know" Sokka said, determined "That won't stop me"
"Please, don't upset Katara" Aang warned as Sokka pointed with his eyes
"It's not me who you should be worried about" Sokka said as Zuko walked towards them
Suki doing her best to not gain more attention grabbed Ty Lee to act as if something had happened at the fire nation.
"Sokka" Zuko growled upset "We need to talk outside"
"Zuko, no" Aang reminded as Zuko frown deepened
"Let's go, I have nothing else to lose anyway" Sokka replied walking to the side of Zuko, determined to end whatever was crossing his mind.
"I can't believe we kissed, what in Tui and La" Sokka thought smirking in disgust.
As they rushed towards the back of the venue, Sokka dodged a punch directed to him.
"Play fair firelord, it's my sisters wedding and I don't want to upset her so control yourself" Sokka said angered "Talk your talk or let me go back"
Suki was startled by how serious Sokka talked.
"Can you ever let Suki get away from you? I want to marry her" Zuko said determined
"That's not my choice Zuko, you should already known that" Sokka reminded rolling his eyes, clenching his fists "Can I go back?"
"Stop acting as if her feelings are above you!" Zuko replied angered, Suki didn't know what to do but she felt shame and anger as Zuko continued talking for her.
"Zuko, stop it" Suki replied as Zuko turned around to look at her, more angered
"Make both of you-your mind and just…just get away from here" Zuko said hurt as he pushed the letter at Sokka, walking away towards the party to take some air as he was close to crying.
Knowing the supposedly best parts of your relationship are now tainted by the knowledge that it was never real was taking a real toll in his heart.
"Nephew, is everything alright?" Iroh worried looming over him, as Zuko breathed rapidly, trying to control himself with a drink on his hand. A strong spicy whiskey to cure a broken heart.
"No…but it needs to be, I hope it will be" Zuko said at the point of sweat dripping out, Iroh knew that was a no turning point.
"What is it?" he questioned, trying to take control of his nephews feelings.
"A woman, someone I knew it was not right yet here I am. I remember your wisdom and it was right" Zuko admitted pouring everything out.
"Zuko"
He heard her voice and immediately wanted to throw up, feeling cornered and wounded.
