There was quite a crowd at the Burrow for Christmas this year. So much of a crowd that they even had to put up a tent outside, for everyone to fit in, just as they had done for Rose and Scorpius' wedding. But of course, there wasn't always quite as many people for Christmas at the Burrow. It was just that Lily had done the Liliest thing she could do: throw her engagement party on Christmas Eve.

It wasn't that she was selfish or anything (though she was a little), it's just that she loved beig in the centre of attention, and sh figured that throwing her engagement party during the holidays would allow the most people to come. And since she was so well loved, people had actually agreed to give up on their precious family moments to come to her wedding.

After all, it wasn't everyday Harry Potter's only daughter got engaged – her fiancé was eve going to take her family name when they got married - and the number of journalists who had also been invited to the engagement party was rather atrocious. Among the chatter of the usual guests, one could also hear the snap of a photograph big taken, and you could be tickled by busy quick-quote quill from time to time.

Lily was delighted by all the attention, and she and her fiancé were eagerly asking all the questions. Andrew looked a little overwhelmed, but Lily was absolutely glowing. Of course, she was still looking forlornly at Andrew from time to time. Though this might prove to be the most covered event of the year, it was still an engagement for love.

It was very, very different from what Rose and Scorpius had had. Their own engagement party had been a small affair at Malfoy Manor with immediate family and a couple of there closest friends. But still, seeing Lily and Andrew so happy and a big diamond shining on Lily's finger reminded them of their own party, a couple of years ago.

"Doesn't this remind you of our own engagement?" Rose asked.

"Definitely," Scorpius agreed, "Though my grandmother would never have let us get away with the whole Christmas theme."

"Merlin, no!" Rose laughed. "She already had a fit because it was far too close to Samhain to her liking, imagine if we'd tried to do it on Christmas."

Scorpius took a sip of his drink, and looked out. They were in a corner of the tent, a heater next to them where Rose was warming her hands. Lost at the back of the room, no one was looking at them. After all, there was no reason to look at them, they had a glowing golden couple at the front. Speaking of golden couple, Lily was now making a speech to thank them all for agreeing to come to her engagement party on Christmas.

"My dear, dear friends and my lovely, but slightly pain-in-the-arse family," Lily started.

"Oy!" yelled James and everyone laughed.

"I would like to thank the first for agreeing to come here today, to celebrate my engagement on Christmas, my absolute dream. My family, on the other hand, were going to come anyway." For laughs from the audience.

"This is such a special day for me, for both of us, as I can't wait to share my life with Andy, the love of my life," she continued.

Rose tuned out the sound of Lily's speech, held Scorpius' hand and whispered something in his ear. "Hey, you wanna know something?"

"Shouldn't we be listening?" Scorpius asked her.

"If you want, but I'd rather not hear the story of how he proposed for the 8th time this month," Rose told him.

"You're probably right."

Andrew had popped the question at the exact same time as Lily, and they had both ended up going down on one knee at the same time. It truly was romantic, and showed how right they were for one another, but still. After the 8thtime you did have a tendency to get a little bored of it. Especially since Lily had been willing to tell the story again to anyone who wanted to listen.

"So, do you want to hear what I had to say?" Rose told him again.

"Go one," Scorpius told her.

"Promise not to make a scene."

"Why would I do that."

"I don't want to steal Lily's thunder."

"Eh, you're too nice. James looks like he's dying for an opportunity to do so," Scorpius told her, pointing over to her cousin, who was desperately trying to crack jokes. The two of them truly loved being the centre of attention.

"Scorpius."

"Fine."

Rose fumbled for her handbag from which she brought out a pregnancy stick.

"What's that?" Scorpius asked.

Rose laughed. "I knew you wouldn't know."

"You're not helping very much."

She blushed, smiled and told him. "It's a pregnancy stick."

"A what stick?" Scorpius asked. "Oh wait, a pregnancy stick."

"It's a Muggle thing. I just wanted to be sure."

"You're pregnant?" Scorpius asked, bewildered, but still in a hush.

She nodded.

"We're going to be parents?" he asked again.

She nodded once more.

He drew her into a huge hug, pure elation on his face, even a little tearful, and they had the most dramatic, but purely joyful kiss ever. They broke apart when people were starting to clap for Lily's speech.

"Oh my Merlin," he said, "I just can't believe it."

"Neither can I," she admitted.

"Why did you decide to tell me now?"

"It just felt right, I suppose."

"Are you sure you didn't want to steal Lily's thunder?"

"Hey!"
