"But I don't want to go see the Pyramiiiiiiiids," Gemini wailed as her mother dragged her by the hand.

It was a sweltering hot day, and the Egyptian sun wasn't leaving them a moment of freshness. They had also been walking through the desert for now fifteen minutes from the designated Apparition spot to the entrance of the Pyramid, and already, that was far too much.

"I don't want to see the Pyramids either," Scorpius whispered to his daughter.

"I heard that!" Rose yelled from up front, where she was eagerly walking towards the entrance.

"But Rose…" he complained too, in a teasing tone.

Rose didn't stop walking though, when she answered cheerfully: "Come on! It'll be great fun, you'll see."

Cassie, their other daughter, who was holding his hand, stuck out her tongue at her mother from behind. Scorpius was very tempted not to scold her. It was far, far too hot to do anything touristic today, apart from lazing around the pool, and yet, Rose has still somehow managed to drag them all out.

"Remind me why we're doing this again?" he asked.

"Because Bill told us today would be the best day to visit!" Rose told him gently as they turned a corner and finally the entrance to the Pyramid appeared.

They had decided to spend their Summer holidays in Egypt, and Rose's Uncle Bill, who had once worked in the Pyramids, had given them a ton of suggestions Rose had duly noted down. Given the sheer number of recommendations, Scorpius didn't think his wife would follow every single one of them, but boy, he had been wrong.

For example, he had insisted that on the hottest day of their stay, they wander to the Pyramids. That way, there wouldn't be as many tourists, and the cool of the inside would be even more appreciable. Indeed, there wasn't a tourist or any other life form around apart from the little family of four, and he was pretty sure they were all going to die from dehydration.

"And there's even a wizard-only part of the visit!" Rose exclaimed. "That's where Uncle Bill used to work!"

"But will there be any tourist guides to show us around?" Scorpius asked.

"Oh, Bill warned me about that," Rose said in what she probably thought was a reassuring tone. "In cases of extreme heat, there are no guides. But Bill left me all his notes and said we would be completely fine!"

"You mean were going into a very booby-trapped pyramid with thirty-year-old notes?"

"It's going to be an adventure!" she told him with a smile.

Cassie asked to be picked up, so he took her in his arms. Oh Merlin, he loved his Gryffindor wife very much, and thought she was very clever, but sometimes she had the stupidest ideas. Cassie gave him a worried look.

"Is it going to be alright, Daddy?" she asked.

"Of course, but I hope to Merlin you have a keener sense of self-preservation than your mother," he told her.

"What's self-perservation?" she asked.

"It's knowing when not to risk your family's life, sweetie."

"I heard that!" Rose yelled from up front once again.

Scorpius smiled and shook his head. He knew this was going to turn out alright, but next time she suggested one of these plans, he was going to have to insist a little harder on the benefits of a pool and spa day.
