~~ just a couple of sweets ~~
Albus was hardly surprised to find his best friend inside the sweet shop. When in doubt, Scorpius always turned to sweets, and his fellow Slytherin was going through a lot of doubt at the moment.
Truly, it was amazing how despite the number of sweets he consumed, his skin stayed perfectly clear and never put an ounce of fat on. Albus guessed it was a question of genetics, and also the fact that Quidditch practice was brutal at the moment. The match against Ravenclaw was only in a week after all.
"Scorpius, what are you doing?" he demanded as he walked up to his best friend.
Scorpius turned, looking completely startled. A faint blush rose to his cheeks, reminding Albus quite a lot his little sister Lily, when she was caught doing something she wasn't quite supposed to be doing.
"Erm… Nothing?" Scorpius offered weakly.
Albus raised a disbelieving eyebrow. "And who are those sweets for?" He gestured towards the bags of toffee in his best friends hand. See, this is why he didn't leave Scorpius alone at Hogsmead outings. Otherwise, he came back with more sugar than even the sugar plum fairy could stomach.
"No one?"
"Oh, really? Those things in your hands aren't Honeydukes Extra Special Delicious Scrumptious Toffees perchance, which oddly enough, are my dear cousin's favourite sweets?" Albus continued his interrogation.
Scorpius sighed in defeat. "Okay, fine, they are. But you know rose's birthday is coming up soon!"
Albus took the bag of toffees from his friend's hand and set them back down. "Scorpius, you send her sweets every year, despite the fact that she has made it very clear that she does not like you."
His friend gave him a small smile. "I know, I know. But maybe these sweets will change her mind." Then he took the bag back from the stall. "And I've actually already paid for these so…"
"Oh, Scorpius." Albus rolled his eyes. "You do know that you can't just buy someone's friendship with sweets."
"It worked just fine for you," Scorpius pointed out, and Albus couldn't help but laugh.
"That's just because I have bad judgement," he teased.
"You're saying I was a bad judgement!"
"Well, for one, you desperately try to pursue my cousin by sending her sweets everytime it's her birthday, without ever sending a note with them. How do you even want her to find out they're from you?"
Scorpius blushed again. "Okay, maybe this time'll send her a note."
Albus shook his head, as they headed out of the shop. "And you've said that every single time," he murmured.
Scorpius shoved a laughing Albus as they walked out of the sweet shop.
