Welcome to the Fortune Cup
As many people came to the stadium, waiting for the Fortune Cup to begin, Cody, Eric, Jeremy, Sonia, Mimi and Kai were walking together through a corridor.
"So you'll be participating as well?" Cody asked his cousin.
"Yeah, I received an invitation a few days before you showed up at my place." Eric explained.
"I see."
"But you guys realize what's at stake here, right?" Kai reminded them.
Cody narrowed his eyes. "Yeah, I know." He then turned to Jeremy. "Okay, Eric and I go and get ready. You guys just head to the stands."
"Sure." Jeremy nodded.
"Good luck out there, Master Cody." Sonia said.
Cody nodded to her before he and Eric went in one direction while the others went in another direction.
Meanwhile, Yusei, Yanagi, Tanner, Leo, Luna, Dexter and Chris were gathered together. Although, Leo looked different today...
"Well? What do you think? How do I look, guys?"
Apparently, Leo had his hair tied into two pigtails instead of his usual ponytail. And what's more, he was wearing Luna's clothes, which made him look like her. However, he was also wearing makeup on his face, which made him look more like a clown than a girl. As for Luna herself, she was wearing an orange jacket and a hat, so people wouldn't recognize her.
"Leo, you're as a Luna as Luna is!" Yanagi complemented.
"Yahoo!" Leo cheered while bouncing up and down.
But Luna got annoyed and kicked her brother on his shin. "Don't embarrass me!"
"Come on, Luna. Just chill out." He patted her on her right shoulder. "I'm about to make you a dueling legend."
Chris sweat dropped. 'Lucky her. I feel bad for you, Luna.' he thought.
"What do you say, Mr. Amnesia Man? Ready?" Leo asked, approaching Yusei.
"Yep, but I think the makeup should go." Yusei replied as the two of them walked away.
"Okay, but only if you tell me your name."
"You'll find out soon enough."
"Awesome! I bet it's really cool!"
Chris shook his head while Luna puffed her cheek. Tanner, however, was rather worried. 'There's something up with this whole Fortune Cup thing. Be careful, Yusei. Watch your back.'
The stadium was packed. The countless people waited in anticipation on their seats. The central area of the was empty, the duel arenas and turbo duel track left desolate.
And then, right between the duel arenas, the MC brought up his microphone and spoke. "Duelists, young an old, professional and amateur alike, put your hands together four our master of ceremonies, Director Rex Goodwin!" The audience burst into applause as Goodwin appeared in front of a large podium.
A group of cheerleaders started to chant. "R! E! X...!" But they were interrupted by a whirlwind that erupted from nowhere. And after a couple of seconds, it dissipated and revealed a certain black and red dragon.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Red Dragon Archfiend has taken to the skies! You know what that means!" At that, Jack's duel runner shot out form a tunnel and onto the track, circling the arena with Red Dragon Archfiend soaring over it. "Let's hear it for the reigning champion! The King of the Cards! The one man who rules the duels! The Master of Faster himself, Jack Atlas!"
The dragon landed into the center of the arena, on raised podium, right before Jack skidded his runner right in front of it and dismounted, pulling off his helmet and turning to the cheering audience. "New Domino City!" He raised a finger in the air. What say we kick this tournament into overdrive? Let's get this started!"
"It's time we meet the lucky duelists who were selected to compete for the chance to go head-to-head with Mr. Atlas! The fortune 16!" The MC shouted as one of the duel arenas split open and the two halves slid into the ground around as a platform rose from beneath, with 16 people.
"Here we go. This is it!" Leo said, standing right next to Yusei. "Whoa! Look at all the people!" He said in awe upon seeing the huge crowd surrounding the place.
The MC spoke up again as a huge screen showed the appearance of each of the participants. "Now let's hear it for the mysterious Shira..." A mysterious man in an indigo cloak with flame-like extensions on his shoulders.
"The great Greiger..." A tall, muscular man with dark with darkly tanned skin, dark-blue eyes, long black hair and stern features. He wore a brown vest that was like a plate of armor and white trousers.
"Officer Cindy Storm..." Cindy simply smiled and waved to the audience.
"Commander Koda..." A man with dark-green hair and glasses, wearing a grey uniform.
"Sabrina Lennox..." A girl in her late teens with brown hair tied into a single braid behind her head and brown eyes. She was wearing a white t-shirt and a pair of overalls.
"The Professor..." A man clad in black and orange academic robes.
"Eric Stone..." Eric just smiled.
"Elliot Tucker..." A guy about the same age as Eric. He had messy black hair, grey eyes and pale skin. He was wearing a t-shirt with the image of a UFO and jeans.
"The Sector Security veteran, Harvey..." A middle-aged man with reddish brown hair and purple eyes wearing a Sector Security uniform. He had an eye-patch covering his left eye.
"Sean Zabini..." A young man with smooth blonde hair and brown eyes, wearing a green trench coat.
"Miss Akiza Izinzki..." A teenager of average height with fair skin, brown eyes, and dark burgundy hair. Her hair was mostly chin-length with the addition of elbow-length bangs that framed both side of her face. She had some kind of metallic hair curler that kept her front bangs rolled up. Her outfit appeared to be Victorian, consisting of a high-collared, low-cut red corset with short, light green puffy sleeves worn underneath a sleeveless, magenta trench coat that flared behind her, being shorter and pleated in the front, black, elbow-length, fingerless gloves with gold bracelets above them, a skirt red high-heeled pumps and black thigh-high stockings. In addition to that, she wore a red neck choker and an emerald crested, golden cross-shaped medallion.
"Rhys Blazewind..." A young man with orange, combed hair, crystal blue eyes, lightly tanned skin and a certain aura of dignity. He was wearing a red shirt and black trousers.
"Sir Randsborg..." A large, fearsome man who was decked out in the armor of a medieval knight.
"The lovely Miss Luna..." Leo made a peace sign with both of his hands and grinned.
"Cody Cooper..." Cody didn't do anything at all.
"And Yusei Fudo!"
But as soon as Yusei was shown on the screen... "Hey, dudes! That guy's got a mark!" One member of the crowd pointed out.
"Yeah, totally!" Another one replied.
"What's a Satellite doing here?"
"Who is that lowlife?"
"I'll bet you anything he took someone's invitation."
Jeremy and the others, who happened to be sitting right behind Tanner, Yanagi, Luna, Dexter and Chris, frowned at the awful comments people made. "Man, people here just don't trust Satellites, do they." The Scrap duelist muttered.
"So shameless." Sonia added.
As this went on, Leo turned to Yusei. "So your name's Yusei?"
"Yep, now don't wear it out."
"That's not much of a superhero name, is it."
"Super-what?"
"Never mind."
"Lose the loser! Lose the loser! Lose the loser! Lose the loser!" The audience kept chanting the same thing. Cody couldn't help but get angry at them for the verbal abuse they gave Yusei.
The MC seemed to be panicking, having no idea what to do...
"Give me that."
Until Greiger stepped forward and snatched his microphone. "I have something to say! My name is Greiger. I know things are different in this city, but where I come from, you judge a guy on his spirit." He then pointed towards Yusei. "This kid right here may have been branded by your people as a no-good, but when I look at him, all I see is a duelist. And being a duelist myself, that means I have to respect him until he gives me a reason not to. Because a duelist doesn't judge another duelist based on where he comes from, or who his family is, or how much money he has. That isn't what really matters."
Leo was crying tears of awe. Cody smiled to him, and so did Eric and Cindy. Jack just simply 'humphed. And Goodwin chose that moment to applaud, causing the MC and the audience follow suit.
"Here's your mic." Greiger handed microphone to the MC as he passed.
"Uh, thank you."
Then, Goodwin stood up. "Thank you for this well-chosen and heartfelt words. In our world, social status and personal wealth draw a line between ourselves and our fellow men. But I had a vision of a duel tournament that would if only for a fleeting while remove that line. A tournament separate from the competition of life, where the haves and the have-nots could meet each other on a level playing field and prove themselves to each other and to the world. Fellow duelists, welcome to the Fortune Cup!" The crowd cheered again.
The MC spoke up again. "And now, let's turn to the bracket shuffler, and find out who's dueling who in the first match." The screen displayed a diagram displaying all 16 duelists below a table, apparently displaying the first round match-ups. The images shuffled for a moment until they stopped, showing the pairings:

Yusei vs Shira
Commander Koda vs the Professor
Cody vs Harvey
Eric vs Elliot
Cindy vs Rhys
Sabrina vs Sean
"Look! I'm dueling Greiger in the very first duel!" Leo exclaimed excitedly before glancing at Greiger. 'I can take that guy. I know I can!'
Meanwhile, Goodwin was inside his quarters and was just sitting down on a couch when Lazar approached him. "Zigzix tells me he's got everything in order. Now we'll know for certain if the Signers are who we hope they are." Lazar chuckled before snapping his fingers, making a large holographic screen appear, displaying the crazy scientist himself.
"Good morning, Director. Now by aligning a neuron emulator with my energy alligator, and then spinning some particles and crushing some atoms, I was able to come up with a device that could detect the mysterious power called Ener-D. It's my most inspired invention yet!" As he spoke, he spun around like crazy. "It's amazing and... fits in your purse. I giveyou..." He then spun around even faster, making himself look like a tornado. "the one and only stupendously fabulous Zigzag creation... the D-tector..." He showed them a small machine on a table. "By placing remote sensors all over the stadium and feeding their signal into the D-tector, I'll be able to spot even the slightest Ener-D activity."
"Excellent." Goodwin said and left.
"Let's find those Signers." Zigzix said before the screen turned off.
Later on, all the competitors were gathered together in a lounge.
And Yusei, Leo and Cody were sitting together near a corner. And Leo just inserted his deck into his new duel disk. "This duel disk you fixed up for me rocks!"
"Glad you like it." Yusei replied.
"I can't believe I'm actually about to do this! You don't have like any last-minute pointers for me, do ya?"
"Yep, remember to adapt to your opponent."
"I can do that." Leo stood up.
"Good luck out there, Leo." Cody said.
"Thanks." Leo was about to leave, but stopped himself. "Oh wait! I saw you on TV the other day. Did you really take that Morningstar guy who tried to take over the world."
Cody smiled a bit. "I sure did. I'm sure you want to know everything, but right now, you have a duel to focus on."
"Got it." Leo then ran out to the exit. "Nice stauche." He teased as he ran past Randsborg.
As Cody watched Leo leave, he failed to notice someone staring at him, sitting at a nearby table. That someone was Akiza.
"Before we meet our first duelists, we have a quick word from our duel sponsors." The MC announced. "If your dog's bad breath makes you sick, give him Tomal's mint bone, the sparkling edible stink buster. And now, coming to us straight from the Tops, a precious half-pint bundle of wonder, little Miss Luna!"
Leo rose into the arena on a hydraulic platform. "Oh wow, this is incredible! I should have brought my camera!"
"Hoping to take her down, the Wall of Wallop, the Tower of Power, Greiger!" Greiger appeared the same on the opposite side of the arena. "Alight, children. Play nice. Let's shake those hands!"
The two duelists approached each other and shook hands.
"That was cool the way you just grabbed that mic and defended my friend." Leo said. "I want you to know it's a big-time honor to be dueling you today, Mr. Greiger."
"If I may say so, Ms. Luna, you have quite a strong grip for a young lady." Greiger noted.
Which made Leo laugh nervously. "That's funny, cuz everyone at school calls me a tomboy. Did I mention I was a cheerleader?" He then made a girly pose.
"I do not act like that!" Luna growled.
"For a twin brother, he sure doesn't seem to know how you really act." Chris added with a sweat drop.
"And now, it's time to start the duel! Players, activate your duel disks!" And they did just that.
"LET'S DUEL!"
Leo: 4000
Greiger: 4000
"The first move's mine. I draw!" Greiger called and drew his sixth card. "From my hand, I activate Star Blast!" A spell card appeared.
"A spell? You're not starting with a monster?" Leo questioned.
"I first have to lower my monster's level by harnessing the power of Star Blast and sacrificing 500 life points."
Greiger: 4000-3500
"Why would you do all of that?"
Greiger held up a monster card. "See, my Summon Reactor • SK is a level 5, so by taking its power down a notch, I can summon it directly to the field in attack mode." A blue portal opened from the ground, from which Greiger's monster emerged. It was a big robot resembling an old fashioned fighter plane, with large propellers on its shoulders and landing gears for arms. (ATK: 2000 DEF: 1400 LV: 5-4)
"Yikes! It's got 2000 attack points!" Leo exclaimed.
"That's right. I believe one must sacrifice a little in order to gain a lot. I end my turn with a facedown card." Greiger concluded while inserting a card into his duel disk.
"Greiger's off to a strong start! Let's see how little Miss Luna responds!"
"Here I go. I draw!" Leo drew his sixth card and held it high up. "You're not the only one off to a strong start! I summon Morphtronic Celfon in attack mode!" From a flash of light, the yellow cellphone appeared before changing into its robotic form. (ATK: 100 DEF: 100 LV: 1) "Pretty cool, don't you think? My Morphtronic tech rules! And I'm about to show you why!"
"Before you make any more moves, I get to activate Reactor • SK's special ability." Greiger interrupted, surprising Leo. "Because you summoned a monster to the field, Reactor • SK gets to hit hit with 800 points of damage!" At that, the propellers on the fighter plane robot's shoulder started to spin and created two whirlwinds that struck Leo instantly.
Leo: 4000-3200
"Incredible! Greiger's monster can attack anytime Miss Luna summon a monster!"
"Greiger was the right choice for this." Lazar commented. "His relentless tactics will have that girl showing her true colors in no time."
"Not bad, Mr." Leo said. "But it's gonna take more than that to weaken my Morphtronic deck!"
'That's right, kid. Get excited. Let's find out if you really are who Goodwin thinks you are.' Greiger thought. "You keep on talking up these Morphtronics of yours, but so far, I am not impressed!"
"Yeah, well, I'm about to impress your face!"
"I can't watch." Luna groaned as she covered her face in embarrassment. "I'll never be able to live this down."
"Alright, let's go, Celfon!" Leo began spinning his arm wildly. "Start dialing... now!" The numbers from 1 to 6 on Celfon's chest began to flash in sequence. "Whatever number the dial lands on, that's the number of cards from the top of my deck I get to flip over. And if any of them is a level 4 or below Morphtronic, then I can summon it out." After a moment, it stopped. "And we've got a 2!" Leo then drew 2 cards. "And then..." He trailed off nervously before looking at them. When he did, he grinned. "Oh yeah! Get ready for Morphtronic Boomboxen, coming at ya live! Hey!" At that, a red boombox appeared before turning blue and let out some rock music. (ATK: 1200 DEF: 400 LV: 4) "Now I play a facedown and end my turn." Leo concluded and inserted card into his duel disk. 'Now if he plays a monster next round and attacks with it, boy will he ever be surprised when I flip over my facedown. Cuz then I'll be able to summon out this bad boy. Then I'll have him right where I want him.' He glanced at a monster card in his hand with a grin.
Meanwhile in the generator room.
'Still no signal. Zilch. Nothing." Zigzix muttered as he monitored the D-tector, with no reaction so far. "Come on, Luna, any day now. We need to find out if you the Mark of the Dragon." He then adjusted the controls.
While this was going on, Luna had a strange sensation in her head, and clutched it.
"Something wrong?" Dexter asked curiously.
"Just a headache." Luna assured him.
"Are you sure?" Chris asked, a little concerned.
"Don't worry, I'm fine."
"It's my turn. I draw!" Greiger drew. "And from my hand, I summon Trap Reactor • Y FI to the field in attack mode!" Another robot shaped like a fighter plane appeared. But this one was smaller, with turrets placed on its chest and in the middle of its robotic face. (ATK: 800 DEF: 1800 LV: 4) "Trap Reactor, attack! Take out Morphtronic Celfon!" The robot soared towards the yellow robot.
"Gotcha, Greiger! I activate my Morphtransition trap card!" Leo's facedown card flipped up, shooting a beam of light at the yellow robot, causing it to morph into its cellphone form. "And now I can switch my Celfon to defense mode, and put your attack on hold." The green robot stooped its movements.
"Ha! By playing your trap, you walked right into mine! It's called Trap Reactor for a reason, after all. You see, Trap reactor reacts to your trap activation, and lays directly into you for 800 points of damage. Attack!" The robot then blasted Leo with its turrets, making him grunt in pain.
Leo: 3200-2400
"Oh no!" Luna, Dexter and Chris cried out.
"This guy is playing a real bait-switch game, making Leo's moves backfire." Tanner commented.
"It's almost like he's toying with Leo to get him all worked up emotionally." Kai muttered from his seat.
"Now that's just brutal." Jeremy added with a frown.
"Poor Leo." Cody said.
'Don't let him get to you, Leo.' Yusei thought.
Leo recovered and gave Greiger an angry look. "That was a cheap shot!"
'That's right. Get fired up. Goodwin says you might be a Signer, so bring it on! Defeat me with the power of the Crimson Dragon!"
Back with Zigzix
"Still nothing. Maybe if..." The scientist began to say before he was interrupted by a rapid beeping from the machine.
"I'm not done with you yet, little girl! I've got more fight for you!" Greiger warned.
"Bring it!"
"Summon Reactor • SK, unplug that Boomboxen permanently!" The bigger robot unleashed another pair of whirlwinds, but they didn't do any harm to the boombox.
"It appears as if Summon Reactor • SK has been grounded by Boomboxen!" The MC pointed out.
Leo laughed. "When my Boomboxen's in defense mode, it's able to tune out one attack every turn!"
"But that only allows me to use Damage Summon." Greiger's facedown card flipped up. "See, after an unsuccessful on your monster, Damage Summon allows me to sacrifice 800 life points in order to summon a new monster."
Greiger: 3500-2700
Leo dropped his smile. "So you're sacrificing your own life points again?"
"I am and next I summon Spell Reactor • RE to the field!" From a blue portal, another machine monster emerged. This one looked like a blocky, legless device with clawed arms, and a snake-like head and tail, with a supply of missiles underneath. (ATK: 1200 DEF: 900 LV: 3) "You might not like the sound of this, but... Spell Reactor • RE, beat down that Boomboxen!" The new machine monster fired off its missiles and blasted the boombox to pieces.
"My tunes!" Leo cried out.
"I place one card facedown and end my turn." Greiger concluded as a card appeared near his feet.
'Finally he's done.' Leo thought in relief. 'At least I was able to keep Celfon around, cuz as long as it's still in play, I can use it to summon Gadget Hauler next. And once I do that, it'll be game over for Greiger.'
Yusei frowned. "He's still focusing on combos he likes. He's not adapting."
"Then it's about time for him to do that, or he'll lose." Cody replied.
"You don't seem very rattled." Greiger said. "Don't you realize that I've backed you into a corner?"
"Huh?" Leo looked confused.
"I've got all 3 of my Reactor monsters on my field. You've already brought direct damage on yourself by summoning out monsters and triggering trap cards, so what power do you think this next Reactor monster possesses. Seems obvious to me."
Leo widend his eyes in realization. 'Of course! If I use a spell, I'll take direct damage from Spell Reactor • RE. And because of the other two, if I summon a monster or activate a trap, I'll get nailed too. Not good!' He cringed.
"That's right." Greiger said, telling what Leo was thinking. "Every duelist needs to be able to summon monsters and activate traps and spells. But of you do any of that, you're going to bring damage onto yourself. I could spend the rest of the duel doing nothing except watching you chip away at your own life points, every time you do something."
As he spoke, Leo felt like he was staring at an intimidating ghost. All in all, he was getting terrified.
"Sheesh, that means almost every kind of move will be harmful." Jeremy said.
"That's just awful." Mimi muttered worriedly.
"Don't get scared." Yusei muttered.
"Come on, Leo." Cody added.
Meanwhile, Zigzix was contacting Lazar. "I'm not getting any signal whatsoever. Maybe the girl's just not a Signer."
"We've conducted an investigation. We have every reason to believe she is. Your job is to find the hard proof we need, Zigzix. You can do that, can't you?"
"There is one anomaly I should probably mention. The sensor has detected a faint signal emanating from the stands."
"From the stands?!" Lazar repeated in shock. "And not from Luna?"
Speaking of Luna, she looked like she was getting worse.
"Are you really okay, Luna?" Chris asked worriedly.
"Should we get you to a doc?" Dexter added.
"I'm fine. It's just a little headache." Luna assured them.
'So every time I make a move, I'm going to lose 800 life points." Leo thought, looking over his hand. "I don't know what to do. I'm stuck!' He then shook his head. 'No! I just have to adapt!' He then looked up with a newfound determination. "You're going down!"
'Finally, she's getting fired up. Get angry, kid.' Greiger smirked. 'Show me that mark!'
"I've never tried this before, but here goes. This next round determines everything. It's my turn!" Leo began his turn. "Now I draw and activate Celfon's special ability! Dial... now!" The cellphone unfolded itself before the number began flashing again. "See, if my Celfon is in defense mode, it chooses a random number from 1 to 6. And then, I can take a look at that many cards from the top of my deck! Now, what's it gonna be?" The numbers flashed for a moment before the light stopped at 3. "It's a 3! And I can look at 3 cards." He drew three cards and looked at them. 'Sweet! I've got more Morphtronics on the way. I think I can win this!'
He then placed them back on the top of his deck. "I switch Celfon into attack mode!" The cellphone morphed back to its robotic form. "Start dialing... now!" And once again, its number flashed in sequence. 'I gotta be able to bust out Morphtronic Lantron. Come on. 1. 1!' After a moment... the light landed on 1. "Alight! There we go!" Leo drew his next card and held it up. "I summon Morphtronic Lantron in attack mode!" From a flash of light, a blue flashlight with a handle appeared. And then, a head popped up right above the lens while the rest of the flashlight folded into a pair of arms and legs, with the lens acting as the robots upper torso. (ATK: 200 DEF: 200 LV: 1)
Meanwhile, Luna started to feel even worse.
"Is it getting worse, Luna?" Chris asked.
"I can't tell. I just feel really weak." Luna muttered tiredly.
"Your life points don't stand a chance against me, little. Cuz no matter what card you play, you're taking damage!" The propellers on SK's wings started to spin.
But Leo grinned. "Guess again, Greiger! Cuz I now use Lantron's special ability!" The blue robot flashed a light on the fighter plane robot, causing it to move in confusion. "See, if I happen to have this little guy in attack mode, any direct damage you would try to give me is dealt to you instead!"
"What?!" Greiger exclaimed as the confused robot needed up facing its master released its twin whirlwinds at him instead.
Greiger: 2700-1900
"Whoa! Looks like Luna managed to launch a counterattack against Greiger's ruthless Reactors! I bet he didn't see that coming!" The MC commented.
"Aw yeah! Who's taking damage now!" Leo shouted happily while Greiger clenched his teeth.
"Now we're talking." Cody smiled.
"Nice one, Leo." Yusei added.
"Alright, so far so good. And now I release Celfon in order to advance summon Gadget Hauler!" The yellow changed back into its cellphone form before creating a portal, from which a blue 18-wheeler emerged. (ATK: 1300 DEF: 0 LV: 6) "Tada!"
"Clever kid." Kai commented.
"You said it." Jeremey agreed.
"Phew. I thought Leo was gonna damage himself there." Yanagi sighed in relief.
"That was a good call." Tanner added. "Leo needs to stay focused now and not go crazy or break loose."
"Time to break loose! From my hand, I release Morphtronic Magnen!" Leo discarded one of his cards, making the familiar horse-shoe magnet appear before it turned into pixels and got absorbed into the truck. "Now, whenever I send one of my Morphtronics from my hand to the graveyard, Gadget Hauler gains 800 attack points!" (ATK: 1300-2100)
"Atta girl. Come at me with everything you've got.' Greiger thought.
"Next I activate the Factory of 100 Machines spell!" Leo continued. "And with the power of this card, I'm able to remove every Morphtronic in my graveyard from play." At that, Celfon, Boomboxen and Magnen appeared before turning into different colored lights and getting absorbed into the truck.
"What's this all about? It appears as if 3 of Luna's Morphtronic monsters are hitchhiking a ride with Gadget Hauler!"
"For every machine monster catching a ride with it, Gadget hauler gains 200 attack points! so now it's got a whooping 2700!" (ATK: 2100-2700) Leo then grinned. "And I still have Lantron on the field, so I wouldn't use Spell Reactor's effect if I were you."
Greiger scoffed. "You may have made Spell Reactor's ability, but that doesn't mean your victory is guaranteed."
"Yes, it is, as soon I attack! You don't have a battle reactor! Gadget Hauler, take out his Trap Reactor!" The truck transformed into a giant cannon and fired a powerful energy beam at Trap Reactor, causing a huge explosion. "Yeah!" Leo cheered.
"Greiger had 1900 life points." Dexter pointed out. "If this attack worked, then your bro might have a chance!"
"Go, Leo!" Luna cheered.
"There you are! Haha! Yes!" Zigzix grinned as a screen showed him a signal coming from Luna's position.
"Did it work?" Leo wondered.
And then, the smoke cleared and revealed Greiger... who was unharmed and chuckling. "You may be small, but you have a warrior's spirit. As a warrior myself, I salute your strength."
Leo was shocked. "Well, thanks, I guess, but how come you're not... like damaged?"
"Because of the Delta Reactor trap card." A trap card was revealed.
"What does that do?"
"By sending Summon Reactor, Trap Reactor and Spell Reactor to the graveyard, I can negate your attack and activate Delta Reactor..." A column of light erupted behind him. "and use Flying Fortress SKY FIRE to summon a reign of doom!" The light died down and revealed a huge aircraft with its upper body being a combination of the body of SK and the arms of RE. Its legs belonged to Y FI. (ATK: 3000 DEF: 2500 LV: 8)
"It looks like Greiger's activated a fatal trap card! This duel might be over! Could Luna be our first loser?"
Leo stared at the new monster terrified. "I... I..." He then looked over his hand. 'There must be something I can do!' He then saw a trap card he was holding. "Oh! I place one card facedown and end my turn!" A card appeared near his feet. (ATK: 2700-2100) 'That thing may be huge, but I should be safe. As long as I have a Morphtronic monster on my field, like Lantron, my Morphtronic Bind will keep Greiger from attacking with any monster that's level 4 or above...'
"That won't work." Greiger said, surprising Leo, before beginning his turn. "I activate Flying Fortress SKY FIRE's special ability. And with this, I can send a card to my graveyard in order to obliterate one card on your field. Victory is mine!" The huge machine opened a hatch and dropped a bunch of missiles that exploded all around on Leo's side until his facedown card was destroyed.
"My Morphtronic Bind!"
"And now you're wide open for an attack!" The aircraft dropped one more missile to Lantron's position, and destroyed it with a huge explosion, causing Leo cry out in pain from the blast before falling down on on his knees.

"It's over! Greiger will be advancing to the second round, and Luna will be getting a gift basket."
"I can't believe I lost." He muttered. "Man this stinks!"
"Poor Leo." Cody said.
"He did the best he could." Yusei replied.
"Too bad." Dexter said.
"He dueled well, though." Yanagi added.
"Oh!" Luna lifted her head, widening her eyes.
"What is it?" Chris asked.
"My headache's gone! Just like that!"
Later on, Greiger walked through a corridor before being approached by Lazar.
"Bravo, Mr. Greiger. That was quite an explosive duel." The Vice Director chuckled.
"Your intel's bad." Greiger stated. "You said you were looking for a girl. That kid was obviously a boy."
"It seems we were the victims of a little identity prank." Lazar held up a small stack of papers, showing info AND pictures of both Leo and Luna.
"Twins?"
"Twins."
Meanwhile, Goodwin was contacted by ZigZix. "The D-tector wasn't picking up any ener-D from the kid dueling. But, I did get a signal. It was coming form this girl in the stands." He then showed the Director an image of Luna with her friends in the stands. "And now we just have to push her to her limits."
Goodwin smiled.
Well, that's that. Just like in the anime, Leo lost. But I hope you guys liked the few changes I made with the duel. With that, I'm moving on to my GX story. Until next time, I wish you all a Happy Halloween.
