Chapter 7
John was putting his duffle in the van when he heard the dogs barking and scratching at the motel room door his sons were sharing. He walked to it and knocked loudly wondering why they weren't up yet. This wasn't like them, and the dogs got louder with his knocking.
"What wrong?" Asa asked seeing concern on John's face when he stepped from his room.
"Charlie, run to the office and get a key for the boys' room. Something is wrong here," John instructed her when she joined them.
"Okay," she replied jogging toward the office. She was back a few minutes later with a key and gave it to John.
He opened the door and was almost mowed down by the dogs that took off through the parking lot not obeying him when he called them. He stepped into the room and glanced around. There was a duffel sitting on each bed that had not been slept in but no sign of his sons.
"Boys?" John called glancing to the bathroom but knew they were not in there. "Dean, Sam, answer me."
"Where's Dean and Sam?" Charlie asked peeking around John's large body to look.
"They were going to that bar down the street," Asa offered. "Could something have happened to them? I mean if they got arrested, I'm sure someone would have called you."
"You're right," John stated grabbing the duffels to take with him. "We need to follow the dogs."
"What's going on?" Bobby asked, joining the others.
"The guys are missing," Charlie told him looking at John's troubled face wondering what happened last night.
"Bobby, you and Charlie stay here in case they come back. Come on Asa, let's find that bar." John stalked off with Asa falling in beside him. They went in the direction that the dogs took and as they neared the bar saw them sniffing and circling an area near the bar.
"I think they found their scent, but somethings not right," Asa said.
The dogs yipped and whined as they sniffed the ground and then held up their heads to sniff as they continued to search for their charges. They growled softly and looked at John like they were trying to tell him something.
"Head on down to the bar and see if there's a number to contact anyone," John told Asa. "I know it won't be opened it yet. I'm called the cops." He pulled out his cell and dialed 911. He explained the situation and told them he would stay at the bar and wait on them. He looked around the area for any security or traffic cameras that might show them what happened to his boys.

John was pacing back and forth in front of the bar while he texted Bobby at the motel. Asa stood to the side and watched while the dogs paced with him. They whined and yapped softly like they were upset and worried too. A patrol car pulled into the parking lot and stopped, and two officers got out.
"Are you Mr. Winchester?" the older of the two questioned.
"Yes, John Winchester, my two sons are missing. We were heading back from helping with the search and rescue in Missouri where the tornados hit. I decided to stop for the night since we were all exhausted and my boys, Dean and Sam, walked down here to this bar last night for a beer. They never came back to the motel."
"Could it be they got lucky and went home with some girls? No disrespect sir," the younger officer asked adding the last part when he saw the anger in John's eyes directed at him.
"No, and even if they did, they would have let us know. They are decent, respectful men. I know something has happened to them."
"Alright, we'll look around, but we usually need to wait twenty-four hours before filing a missing person's report. And since they are adults…"
"Can you at least check the security cameras on the street to see if they show anything?"
"Only after a missing person's report is filed sir. You can come down to the police station tomorrow if they haven't shown up by then and do that. If I can get some information from you, we'll pass it along to a detective."
"Asa, head back to the motel and let the others know," John told Asa. "And take the dogs with you."
"Alright," Asa nodded looking at the cops as he snapped his fingers to the dogs and started walking back to the motel.
John gave the cops his contact information and photos of Dean and Sam. They took additional information and told John to let them know if the brothers returned. John watched the cops get in their car and drive away. He just stood there lost at what to do. He needed to make a call and one he was dreading. He needed to let Mary know what was going on.
"Hello," Mary answered on the third ring.
"Hi hon," John spoke warmly to her. "How's my girl doing?"
"I'm fine. Are you heading home?" she asked and when John didn't answer right away, she knew something was wrong. "John, is something wrong? Talk to me."
"It's the boys," John started. "We stopped for the night, and they walked down to a bar below the motel for a beer and didn't come back. They're missing Mary."
"No, no that can't be right," Mary insisted, fear filling her mind. "Let me try and track them with their cells. They couldn't have just vanished." She sat at the laptop and quickly started typing. "Okay, I'm entering Dean's cell number first."
"Are you finding anything?" he asked when Mary went quiet.
"No, it's not showing anything. I'll try Sam's number," she told him. "Still nothing. Oh John, what do the local cops say?"
"We have to wait twenty-four hours since they are adults," he spat in anger.
"You've got the best computer person I know with you, see what Charlie can do. Are you staying there until you find something out?"
"Yes, I'll send Bobby and the others back and stay to file a missing person's report tomorrow."
"Do you want me to come to you?"
"No, Mary, there's nothing you can do here."
"Oh, John where are our boys?" she cried softly.
"It'll be okay honey. We'll find them. I'll head back to the motel and use it as a base. I love you."
"I love you too. Be careful and keep me posted."
"I will." John hung up and hurried back to the motel. He opened the door to his room to find the others gathered inside. "Charlie, think you could work your magic and get some security footage from last night in front of the bar? There are several cameras across the street."
"You think that's wise John?" Bobby asked. "I don't think the local cops will think kindly of you having the lass do that."
"They won't do anything until tomorrow after I file a missing person's report. I don't know what's happened to them and the longer I wait the farther away they could be taken. Look Charlie if you don't want to do that, it's fine. I don't want to get you in trouble."
"We're talking family here," Charlie insisted heading to her room. "They won't even know I was there," she threw over her shoulder.
"Why would someone target them?" Asa asked. "I can't think of anyone who would want to harm them or any enemies that they have."
"I don't know…Look I want you guys to take the vans and head back home. I've got to stay here and search for my boys."
"We could stay and help?" Asa offered.
"No, there's no use for all of us staying here. Besides, the equipment needs to be sorted, checked and prepared for the next job. I'll rent a car to use while I'm here and drive it home. And I want someone to be with Mary. She shouldn't be alone right now."
"How about this, we'll take the vans back and I'll come back with a SUV?" Asa offered. "If we leave now, I can make it back here by evening."
John thought about what Asa suggested and paced his room deciding what to do.
"Yeah, I guess that would work better," he finally answered Asa.
Asa and Bobby spoke quietly between themselves discussing the trip home. They stopped when Charlie came back into the room.
"I'm staying too," Charlie told them as she stepped to the doorway. "You need to see this."
The others followed her back into the room and gathered around her at the table.
"This was taken from a security camera across from the bar," she stated. Charlie hit the play button, and they watched as the video began to play. The picture was dark and grainy, but they could make out two guys coming out to the bar.
"That's them," John pointed with excitement. He would recognize them anywhere. He watched as they staggered and started down the sidewalk until Dean suddenly fell to the ground and Sam collapsed beside him. Within seconds, a van pulled up blocking the view and when it drove away, the brothers were gone. "Can you get a shot of the license plate?"
"No, there's not a good angle and we can't see who took them either, only shadows," Charlie told him. "I can try to find other shots from other cameras, or we take this to the cops and get them working on it."
"They've been kidnapped," John mumbled as his face darkened and anger began to build inside of him. No one messed with his family and got away with it. There would be hell to pay when he found out who took his boys.
