Chapter 12
Mary was in the kitchen with Bobby and heard the front door open. She hurried to the other room, a look of hope on her face that changed to one of uncertainty and stress when she saw John, Charlie, and Asa step into the house but didn't see her sons behind them. This meant they were still missing.
"John?" she questioned in a worried voice as he stepped to her and wrapped his strong arms around her body.
"My girl," John mumbled into her hair. He held her tightly for a moment before pushing her back enough to see her face. "We've got a lead. I'm going to be heading out as soon as I gather a few things."
"Our boys? Do you know who took them?" Mary asked looking at John's face, then to Asa and Charlie. She saw something that they weren't telling her. "What is it? What do you know?" she demanded.
"Some US Marshals showed up at our motel room and said they think a criminal from Europe who is trying to set up shop in the United States took them."
"Oh my god," Mary gasped in disbelief as she clung to John, begging him with her eyes to say it wasn't true.
"Don't worry my love, we're going to get our boys back," he tried to assure her. "I need to get ready to leave. Charlie, stay here with Mary and keep monitoring for that computer link. We're going to be relying on you to send us updates on any changes. It'll be important if they move elsewhere so we're not wasting time."
"I can do that, and I'll keep checking to see what the marshals are finding out too," Charlie nodded knowing she could help more doing this than going with them. She would work behind the scenes and do what she did best.
"Asa…" John began looking to him.
"I'm coming with you for backup," Asa finished for John. "You're not doing this alone."
John looked at Asa's expression and knew there was no talking him out of coming with him. He thought to himself it would be good to have someone along with him.
"Fine," John conceded. "Go get your things together, we leave as soon as possible."
"I'll be ready," Asa nodded hurrying from the house to pack.
"I'll go make some sandwiches for you," Mary randomly said. She needed to do something to keep busy so she wouldn't go crazy with worry.
"That sounds good Mary," Charlie offered. "Why don't you let me help."
John gave Charlie an appreciating look as she put her arm around Mary and guided her to the kitchen. He headed for the bedroom to pack another bag. Once that was done, he headed for the utility room and opened the gun safe and removed two guns along with ammo for each. John put them in his bag so Mary wouldn't see them and upset her even more.
In less than thirty minutes, John and Asa were ready to leave. Bobby had pulled a four-wheel drive Jeep to the front of the house for them to drive. He got out and waited on the porch for John to come out and Asa to join them.
John came out carrying his bag and a cooler with the sandwiches and drinks in it. Mary and Charlie followed stopping on the porch with Bobby. After John put the things in the Jeep, he turned back to Mary seeing the tears brimming in her eyes.
"I'll get our boys back," he whispered to her as he hugged her tightly.
"Be careful," she begged before kissing him and letting him go.
"The Jeep has a full tank, and I added a few other things that might come in handy," Bobby told John as he handed him the keys.
"Thanks Bobby. Take care of my girl for me."
"I will. You find the boys and be careful." Bobby shook John's hand firmly.
John opened the back door for Fred and Barney to get in and then he and Asa got in the front to head for Colorado. The dogs were their secret weapon because they could track and sneak up on the kidnapper, attacking before they realized the animals were there.

"Alright, here's the things you wanted," Crowley informed the brothers when they were brought back into his office. "Get it ready so we can leave."
Dean looked at the bags sitting on the table but didn't go near them yet. He looked toward the windows for a moment seeing it was raining and turned to face Crowley before speaking.
"We're not going anywhere this late in the day, plus if you haven't noticed, there's a monsoon going on out there. Probably can't see five feet in front of you," Dean told him. "By the time we follow the logging road to where we need to be it will be dark and I am not about to hike in unfamiliar territory in the dark or in the torrential rain. And with this rain, I don't think we want to be on those logging trails even with four-wheel drive. Plus, I don't think you want to be camping out in the rain. It can get very nasty. I need time to check everything out and get some rest tonight. We'll leave early in the morning at sunrise if it's not raining."
"Dean's right, it will be too dangerous. The vehicles could slide off the road and we'd be stuck out there."
"Hey, another day or two won't matter," Dean shrugged. "Did you watch the weather report?" Dean asked looking at Crowley and his henchmen. "Anyone?"
"The rain will be gone after lunch tomorrow," one of bad man answered.
"Okay, so we leave the day after tomorrow."
Crowley frowned at Dean acting like he was going to protest until he looked at the time. He sneered at them but waved to the guards to take them back to their cell. One thing he didn't want was to be stranded on some mountain side in this country.
"If you don't want to waste time, let me check the equipment and pack my backpack so it'll be ready," Dean voiced as the guards started to push them out of the room.
"Wait," Crowley spoke loudly. "Watch them. If either of them does anything funny, break the younger one's arm."
Dean glared daggers at Crowley as he strolled from the room leaving Sam and Dean along with the hired goons. They motioned to the brothers and stood close by as they began to sort the items, checking them to be sure they worked before laying the items aside so Dean could pack them when they were done. Dean began to fill the pockets of his pack with small things before adding the larger items to the inside of the pack. He checked the weight of it before sitting the backpack to the side, ready for his trek into the wilderness. When they were finished, the guards escorted them back to their cell and locked them in.
"Thank you, Mother Nature," Dean commented as he moved to his bed. "This is one time I am happy we're getting rain."
"I'm surprised the asshole bought that," Sam remarked sitting on his bed and leaning back against the wall. "Are you going to be okay out there?"
"Yeah, they don't scare me," he told Sam hoping to drive away any concern or worry.
The door was unlocked, and trays of food were brought in for their evening meal. The brothers picked up their trays and sat on the bed to eat. They were quiet as they finished eating and sat the trays by the door. Dean walked around the room to let his food settle before settling on his bed. Sam sat on his bed and tried to relax by going through some meditation routines.
Time passed slowly for the brothers until the lights were dimmed and they figured it was time for bed. Their watches had been taken so neither knew what time it was. Both said a silent prayer that help would be on the way before it was too late. They knew their father and friends would be doing everything in his power to find them. Both were restless and Dean dreamed about trying to find the briefcase and failing causing Sam to be killed. He woke long enough to realize it was a bad dream and rolled over to try and sleep some more. He was just happy that Sam hadn't woken up wanting to know what was wrong.
