A/N: Did you think it was over? One more mission and the story will be done. I have power now finally; now for the cleanup and getting my carport rebuilt. Please pray for those still effected by the storm and for those in the path of Milton in Florida. Enjoy...NC
Chapter 17
It had been nearly a week since the brothers had been rescued and they were lucky no calls had come in so they could relax and recharge. Plus, Sam was able to let his arm heal and baby it during this time. John was surprised by a phone call from Marshal Mills to tell him Dean would be receiving a nice reward for recovering the diamonds.
Dean was going to keep a small portion of the money, give some to Sam, and give a large part to the family business to upgrade some equipment and computer software. And the rest would be used to give everyone a bonus for all their efforts in helping save him and Sammy. Dean wanted to share his good fortune with everyone.
"Mom," Dean called as he let himself into the house. "Hey Mom, I need to borrow some milk."
"I'm not deaf honey and you know where the milk is," Mary replied stepping into the hallway smiling at her son. "Did you not get to the store this week?"
"Sammy drank it all and didn't pick any up," Dean snipped. "I didn't have any for my Fruit Loops this morning."
"Poor baby," she teased seeing he was carrying his bowl of cereal with him.
"Where's Sammy at anyway? He was gone when I got up."
"I think he went with your Dad into town."
"I would have gone too if he woke me," he pouted like a little kid. Dean sat at the table in the kitchen and started eating his breakfast. "I'm going to help Bobby after I eat. He's rebuilding the motor on the ATV."
"Alright son. I'll be in the office if you need me."
"Thanks Mom."
"Why don't you and Sam come over for dinner tonight. I'm making apple pies."
"You're the best and we'll be here. I'll even send Sammy over early to help you out."
"Only if he wants to do that. You shouldn't volunteer him without asking."
"He owes me for scarfing down all the milk this morning. And besides, he enjoys helping you in the kitchen."
"Alright dear, I'll see you later for dinner. Love you."
"Love you too Mom." Dean finished his cereal and headed out to the garage to help Bobby. He enjoyed working on engines and had a knack for it. Being elbow deep in an engine seemed to relax him better than anything else.

The Winchester family sat around the dining room table eating their dinner. The brothers were teasing each other until their father cleared his throat cautioning them not to get too wild and they settled back down.
"Mom, that was the best," Dean praised her as he ate his last bite of pie.
"Why thank you honey," Mary replied giving him a warm smile. She kept looking at her sons as they ate, as memories of their kidnapping still played in her mind, knowing the outcome could have been so much worse, they might not have come back to her.
"Is this a new recipe?" John asked her as he ate the last of his biscuit.
"It is. Sam found it online and it sounded interesting, so I thought I'd give it a try," Mary replied.
"Well, you can make it again," Dean told her.
They all turned when a phone started ringing in the office down the hall. John got up to answer it and see if it was a call for the rescue team.
"Why don't you go relax Mom, Dean and I can clean up," Sam offered as he started stacking the plates to take to the sink.
"Sammy's right Mom, go on and put your feet up," Dean added. "You and Dad can cuddle or make out."
"Bro!" Sam hissed as he looked at Mom in shock at Dean's remark.
"What?" Dean questioned as he sat bowls on the counter to put away the leftover.
"It's okay Sam; Dean's just being Dean," Mary laughed before getting up to head into the family room.
Sam rinsed the dishes and placed them in the dishwasher while Dean stored the leftovers in containers and put them in the fridge. It didn't take them long to finish cleaning the kitchen and met John coming from the office.
"We have a job," John told them. "I've called the others so they can get ready. Got get your bags and meet me back here and I'll tell everyone the details that I know."
"Okay Dad. C'mon Sammy," Dean answered with a nod putting aside the teasing and getting serious. They headed back to their house to prepare for the trip.

In less than thirty minutes, everyone was gathered in the kitchen waiting for John to speak. Mary had made a pot of coffee and was filling travel mugs for them to take on the trip.
"Alright," John started getting everyone's attention. "I got a call from the local authorities in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Seems there's some missing teenagers and he wants our help finding them," he told them. "An old friend made the referral. He heads up a search and rescue team out of Grand Island but is in Colorado on a job. If we get on the road now, we should be there by early morning. We'll trade off driving and those not driving can try to get some sleep."
"Bobby, you'll pull the trailer with the gear."
"Fine. I checked it a couple of days ago and it's good to go."
"Okay then, let's get going." John accepted a travel mug from Mary and kissed her goodbye.
"Be careful honey," Mary mumbled hugging him tightly.
"We will my love. I'll call you when we get there."
John and Bobby decided to drive first. Dean, Sam and the dogs rode with John and Asa and Charlie rode with Bobby in the other van. After typing the address into the GPS, John took the lead and headed northwest toward the interstate. The traffic was light at that time of night, and they made good time without any delays. Everyone drove for about three hours each and they only stopped for gas and restroom breaks except when they stopped to grab some takeout breakfast before getting to the town.
It was around six am when the team rolled into the town of Scottsbluff. The town was just starting to wake up as John headed for the police station to check in and get what information they could before planning their next steps. He wanted to see if there had been any updates and see where they were to set up camp.
