Lucy thanked the doctor for his update on Tim's condition before the doctor nodded and turned away, hurrying back towards the recovery ward and his patient. Turning back towards the door, she was unable to keep the relieved smile from her face as her phone began to ring and she pulled it free from her pocket. Glancing quickly at the caller ID, her finger slid across the accept button before she answered, "Chen."

"Lucy, it's Talia. any updates on Tim?" Talia asked anxiously as she hit the speaker button allowing John to listen into the conversation.

"Tim's just come out of surgery. I'm just waiting for them to settle him in recovery." Lucy's relieved smile grew larger as she announced, "The doctor said the surgery went well, they were able to remove the blood clot that had formed and was pressing against his brain."

"Thank God," Talia breathed as John smiled with relief.

"He's still critical, and they are hopeful that the sub-dural bleed caused no or minimal damage, but they won't know until he is conscious, and they can run more tests." Lucy continued, "They are going to monitor him closely for the next twenty-four to forty-eight hours for more intracranial bleeding, but the doctor is confident that he should regain consciousness in a couple of hours."

"That's great news! Does Grey know? He will be waiting for an update." Talia reminded the young boot.

"Ahh, not yet, I was just about to call him." Lucy answered before she asked. "Are there any updates with the case?"

"We have identified one of the men involved in Tim's abduction from the security cameras covering the parking lot. A small-time drug pusher named Carson Miller," Talia answered before glancing across at John as she added, "but John said that you might know him better by the street name of Ghost Head."

"Ghost Head…" Lucy paused as she remembered her first arrest of the drug addict, "Yeah, I know him. He was one of my first Tim tests."

"Wanna tell me about it?" Talia asked, hoping to glean any information from the young rookie that Lucy might not have realized that she possessed about the possible reasons behind Tim's abduction and assault.

Lucy shrugged as she held her phone a little closer to her ear, dropping her voice to just above a whisper as she looked around and reassured herself that no one could overhear her conversation as she answered, "Tim wanted to see how I would react to an unco-operative suspect who decided to fight rather than be arrested when he spotted ghost head walking down the street. Tim stopped Ghost head and after doing a body pat down and discovering a small baggie of white powder on him, he decided I could do the arrest. When I went to but the cuffs on him, Ghost Head resisted, we, ahh, we struggled, and I had to take him to the ground…"

"But you never went through with the arrest, why?" Talia pushed gently.

"Umm, well… I was about to but Ghost Head in the back of the shop, when this woman ran up to us, demanding that we let him go."

"A woman?" Talia fell silent for a moment, realizing the probable reason why Tim had not gotten Lucy to follow through with the arrest but needing the rookie to confirm her suspicions as she asked softly, "The woman wouldn't have been Isabel by any chance?"

Swallowing hard, hating to betray her promise to Tim not to tell anyone about his encounters with Isabel after she had disappeared out of his life a year before, she answered softly, "Yeah – yeah, it was. Tim seemed shocked to see her and – they umm, they talked for a moment, I didn't hear what was said but I saw Tim give her some money before she ran off. He told me to let Ghost Head go before he got back into the shop. After I let Ghost Head go, when I got back in the shop, Tim looked really upset. I was a little confused and angry, so I - I demanded to know what had just happened..."

"And that's when he told you about Isabel?"

"Yeah." Lucy admitted before adding, "But I promised him that I wouldn't tell anyone about Isabel."

"Don't worry, I already know," Talia reassured her. "Do you think it's possible that Isabel and Ghost Head might be in a relationship together?"

Lucy hesitated a moment, biting her bottom lip before she sighed and reluctantly admitted the one thing that she had never told Tim, "Yeah, yeah, I do. The day when Tim returned to work, he got a phone call from the hospital telling him that Isabel had been admitted after overdosing."

"He was probably called because he is still listed as Isabel's next-of-kin." John frowned, aware that the next-of-kin would have been notified by the hospital when a loved one was brought in.

"When we got there, Isabel had discharged herself, Tim tried to talk to her …"

"He was probably trying to get her to go to rehab." John surmised, glancing across at Talia who nodded in agreement as he leaned closer to the phone in his T.O.'s hand.

"I didn't eavesdrop into their conversation, but after Isabel stormed out of the room where they had been talking, I thought I heard Tim punch the wall but I'm not sure. Any way when I went in Tim was extremely upset. He didn't want to talk about what had happened between him and Isabel." Lucy continued, as she explained why she had suspicions about Isabel's and Ghost Head's relationship. "Later when we returned to the station, Tim stocked up on Narcan. When I asked him about it, he told me that there were a lot of overdoses on the streets at the moment and we would probably end up needing the Narcan that we had just stocked up on. After we went back on patrol, we headed across to an apartment building on the corner of Florance and Central Avenue, it was then that I realized the real reason why Tim had stocked up on Narcan."

"It was for Isabel." Talia sighed.

"Yeah. Tim had gotten her address from the paramedics who had responded to the overdose call. I managed to convince him that I should be the one to take the Narcan up to her apartment while he waited in the car. I didn't want him seeing the conditions in which she might be living and with who," Lucy admitted quietly. "It took me a minute to talk her into letting me in but when I did go into her apartment, I saw her pick up a pair of men's boots and toss them into her bedroom, trying to hide them from me. I recognized the boots as the same ones that Ghost Head was wearing when I accosted him on my first day, I also saw the same shirt he had been wearing tossed in the corner of the sofa, plus several other items of clothing suggesting a guy was living there. I also thought I heard Ghost Head's voice after Isabel rushed me out of the apartment. When I got back into the shop, all I told Tim was she had a nice-looking apartment. I never told him about my suspicions that she was living with Ghost Head."

"Do you remember what apartment she was in?" Talia asked.

"Yeah, it was apartment 5-10, the pink apartment building on the corner of Florence and Central Avenue." Lucy answered before voicing her own suspicions after seeing Isabel arrive at the hospital, only minutes after she had, "Do you think that Isabel is somehow tied up in all this?"

"I don't know yet, but I do know Ghost Head is! But after we pick him up, I have a few questions that I want to ask her! Questions she better have answers to!" Talia growled before adding softly, "Please keep me updated on Tim's condition."

"I will," Lucy promised before hitting the disconnect button and turning around as a nurse softly called her name as she approached her.

"Officer Chen?" The nurse softly began before continuing when Lucy nodded, "Officer Bradford has been settled in Recovery. Dr Denson asked me to come and take you up to his room, so if you would like to follow me, please."

"Thank you." Lucy answered as she quickly followed the nurse to the Recovery ward.
