Kisara, meanwhile, was struggling with her own emotions. The tour had been exhausting, and the rumors about her new "boyfriend" were nothing but a misunderstanding. The man in question was Alex, a colleague who was helping her navigate the pressures of the tour. She hadn't reached out to Seto, afraid of the cold reception she might receive.
Finally, after weeks of torment, Seto's phone buzzed. His heart raced as he saw Kisara's name on the screen. Taking a deep breath, he answered, trying to keep his voice steady.
"Seto," Kisara's voice came through, soft and uncertain. "I wanted to talk to you."
"I'm listening," he replied, his tone guarded.
"I know you've probably seen the news," she began.
He remained silent. She continued "His name is Alex and he's been helping me through the tour. I..." she paused. Kaiba's grip on the phone tightened, lingering anger flooding his system.
"Has something happened between you two?" he asked despite himself, cursing inwardly for asking such a question.
"No!" Kisara replied earnestly, "Nothing! But... He's been kind to me and showed interest in me... Listen, if you are sure that our relationship is going to stay purely physical..." She wasn't sure what she was doing. She thought this would provoke a reaction from Kaiba, to give her hope that he harbors more than just physical attraction to her. She was completely wrong.
" 'Purely physical?' Of course it is and will stay purely physical." Kaiba spat. "This is what you signed, Kisara, remember?"
Kisara felt a pang of hurt but regained her composure. "Fine," she said. "Then maybe we should terminate the contract."
"What?" his voice cracked.
"I'd like to give it a shot with Alex," she said, trying to sound calm.
A flicker of fear shot through Seto, but he masked it with coldness. "You think it's that simple? If you try to terminate it, I'll make sure the contract goes public."
Kisara's eyes widened with shock and disbelief. "That would be an embarrassment for you too."
He leered, his voice dripping with menace. "The public has double standards for men and women in these situations. You'll be the one branded, not me."
The implication stung deeply, making her feel exposed and degraded. "Are you calling me a prostitute?"
Seto's silence was answer enough. Kisara's eyes filled with tears, but she fought to keep her voice steady. "Fine. I'll come and do whatever you want."
The call ended abruptly, leaving Kisara feeling shattered. A few days later, she stood in Seto's office. Seto looked up from his desk, his gaze unreadable as he took in her presence. Kisara stood tall, determined to face whatever he demanded, but the pain in her eyes spoke volumes about the emotional toll this encounter had taken on her.
Before Kisara arrived, Seto Kaiba was determined to humiliate her even more. His anger and sense of betrayal fueled a desire for retribution. However, when she walked into his office, her confident yet sad and hurt expression made his heart falter.
"Seto," she began, her voice steady despite the pain in her eyes.
"Well, look who decided to show up," Kaiba sneered, "I was beginning to think you'd forgotten about our little 'arrangement'."
Kisara took a deep breath, meeting his gaze with determination. "Seto, I haven't broken any part of our contract. But I don't want this no-strings-attached arrangement anymore. I want a real relationship."
Kaiba's eyes narrowed, his pride and anger flaring. "You think you can just terminate the contract because you suddenly want something different? That's not how this works, Kisara."
"It's not about changing my mind on a whim," she retorted, her voice rising. "I need something more meaningful, something real. I thought..." She wanted to say I thought you wanted that too, but she fell silent.
Kaiba's expression darkened, his fear of losing her masked by his pride. "You thought what? If you wanted something more than just intercourse, then you shouldn't have signed anything. And you certainly shouldn't expect some emotional fairytale relationship with me. Did you really think I'd play Prince Charming?"
Kisara's eyes widened, hurt flashing across her face. "Seto, this isn't a joke. I'm serious about this."
"And I'm serious about our contract," he shot back. "You knew exactly what you were getting into. You made your bed, now lie in it."
"I thought you cared," she whispered, her voice trembling. "I thought there was more to us than just a contract."
Kaiba's eyes flashed with a mixture of anger and pain. "Care? You think this is about caring? This is business, Kisara. Nothing more."
"Is that really all I am to you? A business deal?" Her voice broke.
"You were the one who signed on the dotted line. Don't expect me to change the terms now."
"I can't do this anymore," she said, shaking her head, tears welling up in her eyes."I can't be with someone who sees me as nothing more than a contract."
He clenched his fists, fighting the urge to reach out to her. "Then leave," Kaiba snapped, his voice cold and cutting. "If you can't handle it, then just go. I don't want to see you ever again."
Kisara stood there for a moment, absorbing his words. Without another word, she turned and walked away, her heart heavy with hurt and disappointment.
Seto watched her leave, the door closing behind her like a final, cruel punctuation to their relationship. He clenched his fists, battling the storm of emotions inside him.
