Edward arrived at his parents' home later that evening, the long drive finally coming to an end. Exhausted but relieved, he pulled up to the familiar house, feeling a mixture of warmth and nostalgia as he saw the welcoming lights shining from inside.

Once he was parked up, he took a minute, taking out his phone and sent Bella a message:

"I've arrived safely. I miss you already. It was hard leaving you this morning, but I'm grateful for the time we had together. I promise I'll video call you tomorrow. Can't wait to see your beautiful face. x"

Bella received the message with a tender smile. She was just thinking of taking an early night, when she saw his text. Reading his words brought a mix of comfort and longing, knowing that despite the distance, they were still connected.

She quickly replied:

"I'm so glad you arrived safely. I miss you too. I can't wait for our video call tomorrow. It's been hard not having you here, but I'm happy you're with your family now. Talk to you soon. xx"

Edward's reply came a short while later:

"I'm looking forward to catching up tomorrow. Take care and know that you're in my thoughts. x"

With that comforting exchange, Bella felt a renewed sense of connection despite the physical distance between them. As she got ready for bed, she found solace in the anticipation of their upcoming video call and the promise of future moments together.

As Edward knocked on his parents door, he was greeted with warm hugs and excited chatter. His parents, Carlisle and Esme, having read about Bella in his letters, were eager to hear all about her and the time he had spent with her.

Over a hearty family dinner, Edward's mother Esme, always curious and caring, leaned in with a bright smile. "We've heard so much about Bella from your letters. Tell us more about her. How was the time you spent together?"

Edward smiled, his eyes lighting up at the mention of Bella. "It was wonderful. Bella is everything I had hoped for and more. We had such a great time together. She's an amazing person—kind, thoughtful, and genuinely caring."

His father Carlisle, leaning back with an interested look, added, "What did you two do? I'm sure you have plenty of stories to share."

Edward chuckled, recalling their adventures. "We explored the town, had some fantastic meals, and just enjoyed each other's company. There was a particular evening where we just talked for hours, and it felt like we had known each other for much longer than just a few days. It was really special."

Esme nodded, a touch of nostalgia in her eyes. "It sounds like you made some beautiful memories. It must have been hard to say goodbye."

Edward's smile faltered slightly as he thought about their farewell. "Yes, it was. I miss her already. But we promised to stay in touch and see each other again soon. I'm hopeful that it will be around Christmas."

Carlisle placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "I'm glad you had such a meaningful time with her. It's clear that she means a lot to you. Just keep us updated on how things go. We're looking forward to meeting her someday."

Edward's mother chimed in with a warm smile. "We'd love to have her over when the time is right. It's nice to see you so happy and to hear that you've found someone special."

As the evening continued, Edward shared more stories and anecdotes about his time with Bella, feeling a deep sense of gratitude for the understanding and support from his family. Their interest and enthusiasm made him feel even more connected to Bella, reinforcing his desire to make their relationship work despite the distance.

Once dinner was done and cleaned up, Edward and his parents moved to the cosy living room, where they settled into comfortable chairs and continued their conversation. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, filled with the soft glow of the fireplace and the aroma of his mother's cooking.

Esme, ever the thoughtful conversationalist, asked more about Bella. "What was it about Bella that drew you to her?" she asked, her eyes full of curiosity.

Edward took a moment to reflect. "She's incredibly genuine and thoughtful. From the very beginning, she made me feel valued and understood. Her kindness and the way she cares for others really struck a chord with me. Plus, she has a wonderful sense of humour that made our time together so enjoyable."

Carlisle, who was listening intently, nodded in agreement. "It sounds like she's made a significant impact on you. It's nice to see you so happy and enthusiastic about someone."

Edward smiled, his thoughts drifting back to Bella. "She really has, Dad. I feel like we've created something special in the short time we've known each other. We talked about everything and anything, and it felt so natural and easy."

Esme leaned forward slightly, her expression thoughtful. "It's clear that you're both committed to making this work. How do you plan to stay in touch while you're apart?"

Edward's face brightened at the thought. "We've been texting and planning a video call for tomorrow. It helps to stay connected and share our daily lives, even if we can't be physically together right now. We're both looking forward to the next time we can see each other. Plus when I'm overseas, we keep in touch via letter or emails. I hope we can do a few view videos calls as well"

Carlisle looked pleased, giving Edward an encouraging smile. "It's good to hear you have a plan. It shows that you're both invested in this relationship and willing to put in the effort."

The conversation continued to flow naturally, with Edward sharing more details about their time together—little moments of joy, funny anecdotes, and the things they enjoyed doing. He also mentioned how his work was doing, and how his comrades had become like his second family. His parents listened with interest, clearly enjoying the glimpse into their son's recent experiences.

As the evening wore on, Esme handed him a cup of hot cocoa, a comforting reminder of home when he was younger. "You've had a long day. Why don't you go and rest? I'll make a nice breakfast in the morning"

Edward accepted the cocoa with a grateful smile. "Thanks Mom, It's nice to be home and to have this support from you both, especially about Bella"

Finally, Edward retreated to his room, feeling a sense of contentment. The support from his family and the promise of his upcoming video call with Bella helped ease the sadness of their parting.

As he settled into bed, he took out his phone and sent Bella a final goodnight message:

"Goodnight, Bella. I just wanted to say that even though I'm far away, I'm thinking of you. Can't wait for our video call tomorrow. Sweet dreams. x"

Bella's reply came swiftly:

"Goodnight, Edward. I'm thinking of you too. Sleep well, and I'll be looking forward to our call. Hope you have a lovely time with your parents. Talk soon. xx"

With that comforting exchange, Edward drifted off to sleep in his childhood bedroom, his thoughts filled with the hope of their future together and the joy of having shared such meaningful moments.
