The flight home was quiet. Exhausted and relieved to be coming home. Emily over heard the team talking about going out for drinks earlier, although the invitation was implied, she just wanted to go home. To be with her daughter and to have the images of what she saw be replaced by her daughter's sweet voice and laughter. But after some convincing from JJ, Emily finally caved and decided to go out with the team even if it was for a little while.

Realizing she was the first one at the bar, she noticed a blonde haired woman sitting in the corner, waving over to her. She walked to the woman and sat down on the chair, placing her purse on the arm.

Garcia?" She asked as she sat down

"Yup, that's me. It feels good to finally meet you in person"

"You as well."

"I would have met you the other morning but I had a meeting with Strauss that morning and wasn't able to join the team until you guys were on the jet."

"Not a problem. I'm glad that we officially got to meet here rather than in the BAU." Emily said with a smile.

" Did you want anything to drink? I was just about to go to the counter. "

"Um I think I'll have a beer for now. Thanks."

Emily watched as Garcia went up to the counter. She had heard that Garcia was unique but she realized that she was the best kind of unique. She loved her already and they had just met. Emily was startled when JJ sat next to her that Garcia was previously sitting in.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to startle you."

"No you're fine. I spaced out and didn't see you."

"So Emily, I mean besides the obvious, how was your first case?" Garcia asked when she handed Emily a beer and sat in the chair next to JJ.

"It went as good as it out have been. I mean we caught the unsub and there's one less creep in the world. but you guys are amazing. I came from a desk job in Chicago, so it's nothing like I was working with. "

"Well, I think you are a great addition to our team. We're excited to have you." JJ said

A few drinks in, Emily thought it was about time to stop. JJ and Garcia were noticeably tipsy, but she wasn't. She was about to leave for home, but the rest of team started to show up.

"So Emily, tell us more about yourself. Do you have a husband, kids?" Garcia asked while taking another sip of her drink

"Mmmm Alright, uhhh, I have a 4 year old daughter Natalia. She is everything and more I could have imagined. She is funny but smart, she's got her father's sense of humor. Uhh I don't have a husband, Natalia's father died a few months before she was born, so it's just been her and I ."

"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry. " JJ said

"It's okay. I've accepted it and I can see him in her. So that helps a lot. Natalia knows she has a dad but she's only ever seen him in pictures. I just wish that she would have got to know how much he wanted her."

The team went silent for a moment.

"Im sorry, to drag everyone's mood down. Please let's talk about something else that isn't me."

"Did you guys ever find out what the star on the heart meant to the unsub?" Garcia asked

"Unfortunately not. Skylar's alternate personality took over and he did not say why he did that. Some things are meant for the unknown I suppose. " Rossi stated while taking a sip of his beer.

Emily looked up from her drink and made eye contact with Aaron, he gave her a look which caused her to look back down at her drink. He had no idea what she had gone through, I mean why would he? They didn't keep track of each other. But apart of him felt guilty. Aside from what happened between them, she didn't deserve that. He wanted her to be happy in life even if she wasn't with him. He looks at her now and she seems content. She's happy with her life with her daughter, he couldn't or didn't want to imagine her going through what she went through, let alone pregnant.

After about an hour, Emily decided that it would be a good time to go. She didn't want to stay out later than she already was.

"Okay guys. Thanks for the drinks but I need to get home to my kid. I haven't seen her in days and I just want to hug her." She stood up out of her chair and put on her coat.

"Okay. Well Maybe if you'd like, the kids could have a playdate. I mean they go to the same school, they might already know each other."

"Yeah sounds good to me JJ. I'll text when I get a chance to look at my calendar."

"Great. Bye Em."

"Bye Guys."

The team collectively said bye to Emily, although a certain person felt like there was more to be said to her and he knew that he couldn't say it in front of the team. The others had no idea that they knew each other and for now, he wanted to keep it that way.

After Emily had waked out the door, Aaron saw his chance, and he got up to leave as well. He just hoped that she was still outside when he got out there.

"Hey guys, I'm going to head out too. I want to get up early with Jack and make him breakfast. "

The team understood and said goodbye to him as well.

When Aaron walked outside, he noticed Emily was trying to catch a cab.

"Hey Emily. " He called out to her. She looked at him and gave him a look. She started to walk towards him.

"Did I forget something?" she asked as she came closer.

"No I just... I just wanted to talk to you about something."

"Mmhmm sure. Whats up?"

"I just wanted to say I'm sorry for the way I treated you before. You didn't deserve that and you are a great agent. I also wanted to tell you that I think that you would be a great addition to our team. "

"Well thank you. I truly appreciate that Aaron."

"No problem. Hey uh, one of these days, we should have the kids have a playdate together. Your daughter, Henry, and maybe my son, jack. "

"you have a son?" smiled while she asked

"I do. He's almost 7 now. "

She giggled. "Sorry I just... look at us. We've come so far. I never expected to end up here."

"I never thought i'd see you again... I." He leaned in closer to her. He could smell the scent of her. He looked into her eyes and then looked down at her lips. The spark was clearly still there. Looking into both of their eyes, time felt like it never passed . It was as if they had never left. He was about to lean in further when a loud honk pulled them out of their thoughts and back into reality. She looked at him and took a step back and headed for the cab.

"I guess that's my cue to go.' she said as she nervously pushed a piece of hair behind her ear' "Thanks Aaron, I truly appreciate it but I should get home to my kid. and I'll set something up with JJ and call you."

"Okay sounds good. thanks Em."

She nodded and got into the cab.

After the cab had left, Aaron mentally hit himself. He couldn't let his feelings cloud his judgement. A part of him hated the fact that he didn't kiss her and the other part was glad that he didn't kiss her. Things would become more difficult if he had. He grabbed the next cab and headed home to his son. All the way home, he could not shake the would of, could of have been out of his head.

If she never had left that night, what would life be like now?

He knew that he wouldn't have Jack. He loved Jack more than anything, and he didn't know life without him.

But the what could have's invaded his mind.

When Emily arrived home, the house was dark and quiet. Knowing that her daughter was asleep, she placed her bag down by the door and locked the door behind her. She sat on the couch and began taking her boots off.

After throwing her boots on the side of the couch, she leaned back into the couch.

Her mind went straight to him.

He almost kissed her and if it hadn't been for the car, her mind would have been clouded with way more thoughts than she has now.

But what did it mean? What would have happened if that car never honked? If he had kissed her?

Unknowingly, they were thinking all of the same thoughts but they chalked it up to drunk thoughts?

But doesn't drunk minds speak a sober heart?
