"Powerful Creatures Speaking"
(Mid Chapter Authors Notes)
Light filters through my eyelids as I let out a weak groan. As I realize that I have returned to consciousness, my eyes snap open.
My body aches I let out a low groan as I force myself to sit up. 'Where... where am I?'
I'm back at home?! Wait... no... This isn't right.
Things are slightly out of place.
The pedestal with Grandpa's ball is empty.
Most noticeably I'm not in a pile of saiyans who are trying to leech my warmth.
"You're finally up." A familiar voice frowns.
I glance behind me to see Forte sat on the floor a short distance away.
She has bandages wrapped around her body and a busted lip, but overall she looks fine.
My eyes skim the rest of the room.
Everyone is here... Everyone is hurt.
"What happened?" I question with a small frown.
"I don't know." The girl replies with a small head shake. "I was knocked out shortly after that green bastard appeared... I... I didn't even see him move. Just one second he was in front of me, the next I was unconscious."
"Where are we?" I question as I weakly force myself to my feet.
"I don't know that either." The girl sighs. "I took a quick look around, this place looks like home, but it isn't... it's... uncanny and strange. There's also this... force... stopping me from going too far."
"What happened to Bulma?!"
"I don't know that either." The girl replies with a headshake. "I can't sense her anywhere."
I wince, bringing a hand to my ribs as I slowly begin maneuvering around the room.
I close my eyes and begin sensing outwards.
I don't get far. Maybe a mile or two, then I just hit a... wall...
"Where the hell are we?" I whisper as I look around slowly.
I can sense fish and animal life, but that's about it.
My stomach grumbles slightly, causing me to let out a sigh as I look to Forte. "I'm going to look around."
"Alright. If you catch something, bring me back some." She lazily waves off.
I walk to the door and open it, limping outside.
When I find that bitch again I will certainly be beating the shit out of her.
Will I kill her?
Hn. That's a good question. She tried to kill me.
I want to make her feel utterly helpless. Dread. Panic.
My mind flashes back to that thing she used against us... that red technique... the ability to double the user's power at the cost of their body... could I make that work for me?
My tail lashes out behind me as I slowly walk forwards, my footfalls crunching on the grass.
The... wall is gone...
I let out a quiet sigh as I bring a hand to my ribs and jump forwards.
I have to quickly spin out of the way of a tree I nearly leapt face first into, sliding briefly across the dirt as I regain my footing.
'wh-'
I look over my body.
I am several times stronger than I used to be... maybe twice? Or thrice?
I clench and unclench my fists.
It might take me a little bit to get used to this sort of power, but I can manage.
I begin 'jogging' through the forest. Said jog speed being roughly what I would have been able to reach had I been running at full speed a mere... day... ago?
How long was I unconscious?
Who knows.
I don't even think my zenkai boost has settled yet. I'm still quite injured.
I look over my body with a small frown, I'm in nothing but simple Gi-pants. Bandages and gauze wrap my chest as purple dark, splotchy marks linger on my arms and stomach.
I got really fucked up.
A long breath escapes my lips as I continue speeding my way through this... imposter Mount Paozu.
It's close to our original home, but... there's enough that is just slightly wrong that is catching my attention.
A tree I could have sworn we cut down for firewood. Rocks which were originally destroyed in our training, the damage that Goki did to the land when she went outside at night one time.
It's uncanny.
I come to a large lake where we normally find fish, closing my eyes and taking a deep breath as I feel out into its depths.
I turn around, tail dipping into the water, then I cross my arms and wait, my appendage twitching slightly every now and then.
I sense outwards, as far as I can.
That wall is still there... it's a barrier... made of Ki?
No. That's impossible.
The level of power required to create a ki bubble this large would be... insane. Utterly impossible.
You would need to be tens of thousands of times stronger than even that bitch that attacked us in order to sustain a ki barrier of this size for even a second.
It also doesn't feel exactly like Ki. Maybe some form of technology? no. it it was I wouldn't be able to feel anything from it... it's some power other than ki, but... what?
It's as if the wall is... folding back inwards?
Its unusual.
I'll take a proper look at it in a second, but first...
My tail slips out of the water as a tremendous body follows close behind, trying to bite the tip.
A fish larger than I am tall hangs in the air as gravity begins to retake it, it is blue in color, with a greyish blue underbelly, in its mouth of rows upon rows of jagged triangular teeth, signifying that it is a carnivore of some sort.
As it begins to slowly fall, water droplets all around it, I lunge forwards and punch it in the side, right behind its large bulbous eye
My hand slightly sinks into its flesh before rebounding back out.
The fish lands with a tremendous splash as my feet touch back down on the bank.
I look over the water for a moment as the fish quickly rises to the surface, laying on its side, dead.
I let out a small pained breath as I rub my chest.
That's probably big enough for both Forte and I, I'll check on the wall itself after I get a little food in me.
I reach out, grabbing the tail of the fish and with a flick of my wrist, send it flying into the air.
It goes much higher than I meant, causing me to let out a sigh as it begins tumbling backwards.
I turn and with a sudden blur of movement I hop once to get up into the branch of a tree, then once more to catapult myself into the air.
The fish comes to rest on my shoulder as I land back on the ground, a small shout leaving my mouth as I strain my injuries. I fall to a knee as I am nearly crushed underneath.
I let out a slightly shaky breath, hefting the fish that is probably a quarter of a ton, then begin slowly walking back towards the house.
I wanted to test out my new strength, so instead of dragging it- and getting the skin dirty- I wanted to carry it.
It's possible.
I take a sole step forward as I grit my teeth, followed by a second.
It's just really difficult and a little painful as I am right now.
However.
I couldn't do this sort of thing back before my zenkai.
I slowly walk my way back to the house and let out a small grunt as I toss the fish aside.
The door cracks open as I see Goki crawl her way out of the house, her eyes light up upon seeing me as she rockets to her feet. "Rayne! You're alright too!"
Forte steps past her, eyes locking onto the large fish I had tossed aside.
"We need to talk about what happened." She declares.
"Right, right." I agree easily as I walk over to a tree a short distance away and detonate the base with a ki-blast.
Shards of wood fly everywhere as the tree begins to fall towards me.
I sidestep the falling tree, and before it lands with a loud thud, I kick it, sending it soaring towards Forte and Goki.
Forte snags it from the air and slams it downwards, shearing off all of the limbs and branches, leaving us with just a simple log which she tosses aside.
Goki begins gathering up the branches as I walk over, taking a seat on the discarded log.
The branches are quickly piled up as Forte shoots them with a weak ki blast, causing flames to spring to life on the pile.
The fish is laid atop the burning branches, smoke beginning to waft up and around its sides.
"So. Goki. Where is Bulma." I frown.
"I... I don't know..." The girl sighs, shoulders slumping.
"Well, what happened?" Forte frowns.
"I- I don't know... everything was going well, but then some... alien... showed up. He wasn't much older than we were, but he was... he was so strong..."
"About as strong as you are, Forte..." The girl mutters quietly.
"Viola, Note, Tabba, and I all attacked him at once, but... he just toyed with us." The girl continues. "Viola went down to an attack to the back of the neck, Note followed with a gut punch, then Tabba got hit with a punch to the temple. It wasn't long before I also got knocked out... I don't know what happened to Bulma after that but..."
She looks around slowly. "She's not here."
She looks over to me and reaches out, gently poking one of my bruises, causing me to slap her hand away with a slightly annoyed grimace.
She tilts her head slightly. "What happened to you two?"
"Some girl showed up. Twice as powerful as Forte. She beat us half to death." I explain concisely as I cross my arms. "Now we're trapped in a giant bubble of some sort."
My eyes stray to Forte. "Where's the Power Pole?"
"Gone. As are all of our scouters." She scoffs, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Damn it!" I curse loudly.
It has been about two days since we were put in this strange bubble.
I cross my arms as I stand in front of a large, flat, blue wall made of energy.
My wounds have completely healed, as have the wounds of the others.
We all stand around the flat plane that goes as far as I can see.
"Well?" Note questions. "What is it?"
"It's like ki. But not. It feels strange."
Forte lets out a growl and holds out a hand her ki condensing down into a small sphere the size of a watermelon.
"I wouldn't do that if I were-" I begin.
She shoots it at the wall.
The wall ripples and begins bending outwards somewhat.
I am forced to duck as the blast is shot back towards us, the energy whizzing past and exploding somewhere behind me in the distance with a loud rumble.
"DAMN IT!" The girl roars.
The saiyan girl with the shortest hair, Viola walks forwards slowly and holds out a hand towards the wall.
"I also wouldn't do that." I cut in.
She pauses and steps back. "What would it have done if I did?"
"Shock you." I explain bluntly.
"Ah." She blankly hums.
"Did you learn that the hard way?" Note questions from behind us as she boredly looks out over the lake.
"Perhaps." I grunt.
I pause as I sniff the air. "Someone is here."
The group all look around.
Slowly they enter fighting stances as I close my eyes and focus.
There is a shrill squeak as a man appears in the middle of us all. "Yo!"
The girls whirl around, shooting blasts towards him but he just jumps with a quiet 'Woah!' Allowing the blasts to detonate beneath him.
He is very... distinct... in appearance.
He wears a long red coat with a blue cloth belt tying it shut, underneath, he wears a tight black short-sleeved undershirt, and baggy black pants with blue cloth tied around the shins.
Atop his head is a mess of black hair stilized mostly in spikes that point towards the left of his head, with a few smaller ones to the right, he is incredibly muscular, with a jovial and calm expression. A brown furry tail lashes out behind him before curling up and wrapping around his waist.
"Hey." He waves. "I just thought I'd drop by and explain a few things."
Forte notices the stick on his back... her power pole.
"My power pole..." She lowly growls. "Give it BACK!"
She blasts off the earth, lunging for the saiyan, not even giving the fact that supposedly other saiyans survived a second thought.
The guy in front of us brings his index and middle finger to his head and suddenly with another shrill squeak he appears behind Note.
'huh?'
Instantly she whirls around, fist rocketing towards his center of mass.
He guides the punch away with one hand.
My thoughts are drawn away from trying to understand the barrier behind me as I look over the man who had appeared.
If what I am smelling is correct... there's no way for us to beat him.
If he wanted to kill us, he would do so easily.
But... I can't just let them fight without my help.
"Forget the power pole." I begin with a low growl, my ki flaring. "Take. Us. Home."
Pov: Nearby.
A man's slightly jovial smile falls from his face as he looks over the six saiyans before him.
'Take us home'.
His heart aches at those words...
He hates that the time patrol has to do this... he loathes it with every part of his being.
If problematic timelines aren't cut out... all of time will be destroyed. Every place. Every existence. If time becomes unbalanced, it quickly rolls into an uncontrolled flood. It starts small, sometimes started by those in the Time Breakers, but eventually those changes cascade into other worlds themselves. Entire timelines can be mangled and destroyed horrifyingly quickly...
All he sees here... is a bunch of children... scared, alone, torn from their home.
These... are not typical saiyans you would find on Planet Vegeta.
They are... more reserved. More peaceful.
They don't seek the destruction of all life, yet they still seem to desire fights. The need to get stronger.
"I can't." Goku lowly breathes. "I wish I could, but... I just can't."
He can see anger burning deep in their eyes.
With an explosion of movement, the tanned girl at the front, the strongest of the group blasts forwards, he guides her punch away as he ducks the kick of the next girl, supposedly this one was originally Vegeta's younger brother.
They have never met, but according to the time scrolls, he survived planet vegeta's destruction and was strangely good for a saiyan.
Goku's body flickers, moving out of the way of a ki blast from the saiyan with the shortest hair.
His power pole frees itself from its sheath as the strongest girl grabs onto it, twirling it around and stabbing it downwards with a shout. "POWER POLE EXTEND!"
The man tilts his head just out of the way of the stick as it grows rapidly and impales the ground beneath.
She must have had the power pole beforehand.
That is... strange...
The power pole is one of the things that the time patrol always grab just before they erase problematic timelines... why doesn't she have her's anymore?
The spikey haired saiyan wearing red hops over a kick from the saiyan with smooth hair and catches the punch from the Tarble girl.
The girl version of... him... slides to a halt just in front of him, hands cupped to her side, a large glowing sphere of ki clutches in her palms. She flings her hands forwards, shooting a large wave at the man, but he simply holds up a single hand and causes the ki wave to split around him with merely his fist.
She's... far stronger than he was at that age... huh. I guess having a bunch of stronger training partners really did help. In fact, almost everyone here is as strong as he was when Raditz came to earth.
The girl's eyes widen slightly as he hurls the Tarble girl into her, not very hard, but enough to knock them both flat.
He brings a hand up to his forehead and uses Instant Transmission to get behind the leader of this group as she swings the power pole at his open back.
He sends her flying with a gentle kiai wave, the forceful air shooting her off into the distance after retrieving his red weapon, then ducks past a spinning kick from the girl with her hair tied in a pony tail.
He raises his knee, blocking the punch of the short haired Saiyan, then freezes as he hears a shrill squeak.
His head turns, the world slowing to a snail's pace.
His eyes lock onto the boy who had been simply watching thus far, he floats there, body completely halted- or at least appearing to be to the older saiyan, the boy looks a little winded, a two fingers extended and pressed into his forehead as he holds out his other hand, a fairly dangerous looking blast of ki in his other hand... unlike the typical ki blast, it is condensed... hardened... it isn't meant to detonate on contact or wash over someone... it is condensed. it is meant to pierce.
One thought crosses the Saiyan's mind. 'what?!'
Red slowly crawls down the boy's arm, flickering like flames as he shouts. "Kaio-ken!"
'How does he know those moves?!' Goku questions. 'Wait... did... did he learn it just from watching him?! He learned instant transmission from seeing it used thrice... and he seems to have learned Kaioken from his previous fight with someone in the Time Patrol... this talent... that is genuinely astounding. He picked those moves up like Goku himself picked up the Kamehameha... and those are FAR more complex than a simple energy wave...
Time speeds back up as the spikey haired saiyan tilts his head back, the reddish beam of energy shooting just in front of his nose. He needs to stop him before he hurts himself.
Goku raises a sole arm upwards, hand flat.
He swings his hand down, taking care to soften the blow-
*Squeak*
He uses instant transmission to teleport just before the man can chop the back of his neck.
Goku turns, seeing the boy on the ground on the complete other side of him, one hand still on his temple, his other hand shooting a second wave of energy forwards, this one is a lot less condensed. More hastily charged. His eyelids droop slightly as he seems to breathe heavily.
He seems to expel the rest of his energy as the orb of ki explodes, a large beam shooting forwards and covering the man in red's upper body.
It lasts for a few seconds, but eventually stops as the boy falls to a knee.
Ah. He was never trained in the Yardratian methods... he might have been able to use instant transmission, but the amount of ki he loses each time he does so is far too great.
His instant transmission is imperfect, as is his kaioken.
The boy breathes heavily, arms shaking and twitching as he glares up at the man.
Goku's eyes widen as a thin red beam rushes for the center of his torso.
It crashes into his chest, but it doesn't deal any damage.
A small fist slams into his jaw, but he doesn't even move.
Huh?
That beam...
He looks up slowly, then down at the saiyan boy below.
His original attack... he aimed it so it would hit the ki barrier and rebound. That was a really good move... if he had been just a few thousand times stronger that might have stung a bit.
The girl version of him grabs his leg and bites his knee, causing him to blink owlishly and look down at her as she continues to gnaw on his leg.
These brats are just going to hurt themselves... let's put a stop to that now.
A golden aura crackles to life around him. To turn super saiyan is utterly overkill for this situation, but surely they've heard the stories. It'll be enough to make them stop and show them something to work towards.
"HAAAH!" He roars as the girls attacking him are blown backwards, they skip across the ground looking briefly dazed.
"What..." The strongest of the group quietly whispers. "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!"
Pov: returned.
I stare up at the spikey haired man standing before me, a bright golden aura clings to his body, his hair which was originally black now stands straight up, a deep golden color just like his aura. His normally black eyes a teal greenish blue.
His tail matches the color of his hair, brilliant golden blond.
"What... the fuck?" I whisper.
"The Legendary Super Saiyan?!" Note whispers, her eyes growing wide as she stares up at the man in front of us.
"No... just A super saiyan... any Saiyan can achieve this form... and even surpass it." The man explains as he crosses his arms.
He smells... familiar.
"I came here to explain things to you. I understand that you are uneasy and wondering what happened to you... I was hoping to bring a few things to light."
"Why can't we go back?" Goki questions, standing up to the spikey haired super saiyan. Glaring up into his eyes in challenge.
"Because... your home doesn't exist anymore." The man sighs.
"What?" Forte whispers, Viola brings her hands to her mouth, Note stiffens and Tabba narrows her eyes.
"Your world... it was changed by something... it was broken. Dangerous. It was festering and rotting. If we let it be, it would not only have killed you all, but it might have hurt other worlds as well... or rather... timelines." The man sadly explains.
Time manipulation? Something clicks into place... I know where I smelt that scent before... it's a scent I have gotten very familiar with over the course of my life. "Wait... are... are you Goki's father?!"
"I'm not." He replies with a small headshake. "But that isn't to say we aren't related."
The golden warrior's eyes lock onto the girl stood a short distance away. "My name is Goku... Son Goku. And I am you... from another timeline."
Goki looks at Goku, the tension leaving her body and rapidly being replaced by sheer confusion. "Wh- huh?!"
He gestures around. "This... is Era Gaia. A place where people from all sorts of timelines gather and the home of the Time Patrol. A group who goes out and corrects the various timelines when they begin to become altered via outside interference."
He gestures to the barrier. "We put you in this little barrier because we didn't know if you could sense energy and the people outside are... quite strong and if you sensed to far out it would likely hurt you. The barrier will slowly be removed over the next week or so, allowing more and more energy signatures to seep in here."
"You have several options going forwards. You could join the Time Patrol, or you could just simply go about your lives here." He scratches the back of his head. "I'm not really the best to explain this sort of thing, but someone else will be here eventually."
He offers a sole wave, his hair losing its glow and falling downwards slightly, then he brings a hand to his forehead and teleports away.
"…"
There's something different about his teleportation... his ki doesn't leak out. It is contained. Without a single bit going to waste.
I let out a long breath as I fall to a seated position, then flop back into the grass, now comprehending what was just revealed.
'wh... a super saiyan? Anyone can become a super saiyan?'
My body aches as I just lay there, staring up at the sky a blank expression on my face.
"What do we do... our... our home..." Viola quietly whispers.
"Is there really anything we can do?" I question.
"In a way... isn't this better for us?" Forte questions. "We are no longer the only saiyans left. We no longer have the responsibility of repopulation. We can train as much as we want, for as long as we want. No need to waste several years having children. We'll be able to reach new heights we likely could have never reached before."
Forte clenches her fist and looks down. "I mean, in one fight... we have all more than doubled our strength. We have the opportunity to learn. To better ourselves, and most importantly fight strong opponents."
"We'll never get the opportunity to avenge the death of our race... we'll never be able to kill Frieza." Tabba frowns as she crosses her arms.
I tilt my head. "That... might not actually be the case."
"Huh?" Five pairs of eyes lock onto my prone form.
"He said that some timelines are broken and need to be erased, right? I imagine they wouldn't care if a certain bastard was put in hell before the timeline is corrected." I shrug lightly. "So if you want to look at it objectively, we could avenge our race... several times by killing him over and over and over and over."
My eyebrow twitches. "I'm still super pissed that our world had to go, though. What did WE do wrong?"
"Nothing... that's why we are here, I suppose... instead of being dead and gone." Note frowns.
"Oi. Rayne. Are you alright?" Forte questions as she walks over to me, frowning down at me as she crosses her arms.
"Give me a minute. That red thing... ow. It seemed to work but it really hurt." I wince.
"Honestly. You're unbelievable. You learned that move and that teleport thingy that guy did just by watching... what a monster." She scoffs with a small head shake.
"They're imperfect. But that doesn't mean I can't fix them." I smirk impishly.
"Hn. Yeah. That red thing was annoying. The kay-oh-kinn? I think that's what the bitch called it." She scoffs. "Powerful, though. Could be useful if you can make it so it doesn't leave you flat on your back after a single use."
Pov: Later.
A blue skinned woman with yellowish eyes, long lavender hair, and pointed ears looks over a group of six as they cautiously glare at her.
"I am here to teach you some of the basics... tell me, can you read?"
"Can you write?" She continues, as they remain silent.
Suddenly the boy of the group points behind her. "Look! It's Son Goku!"
The kai's eyes widen briefly as she turn, having not sensed his energy-
There is nobody there.
"…"
She turns back to see the six saiyans have all mysteriously vanished. Bushes rustle as she can feel their power levels rapidly rush into the distance.
Ah.
Problem children...
She blurs forwards, grabbing a girl with long straight hair tied up in a pony tail by the back of her shirt, she lets out a shout of surprise as she is pulled back and gently tossed back to where they started.
She appears behind another. 'oh? This is the Goku of their timeline, right?'
She gives the girl a weak chop on the head that knocks her flat.
She blurs forwards, catching the next girl by the tail and quickly teleports her back to the starting position.
With two simple uses of instant transmission she appears behind two more girls and returns them to the original clearing.
That makes five... they are missing the boy.
She quickly rushes towards his ki signature, seeing a shaking bush, she reaches inside.
*CLUNK*
"…"
The woman blinks owlishly as she pulls her hand back, revealing a rope snare had clamped around her forearm, she easily resists the bent branch as it tries to tug her forwards
When did they even have the time to make this?
Where is the boy?
She pulls back the bushes to see a large ball of ki just floating there.
"…"
She looks around slowly, pulling her hand free from the snare, causing the branch to make a loud 'FWWWT' whipping noise as it springs back into place.
Alright. Where is he?
She brings her hand to her forehead and teleports.
Ball of ki.
She teleports again.
Another ball of ki.
Another ball of ki. How the hell did he even make this much distance in such a short amount of time?!
As she swipes her hand through the ki orb to disperse it, she blinks owlishly. He was using the ki sphere as a decoy and hiding his own energy as he crouches in the bush below it. That sort of tactic is frankly a little bit genius. He even left a bunch of ki decoys across the forest. How he managed that? She doesn't know... a lot of these are much further than someone with his power level could reasonably reach in the time it took her to-
"Oh. You crafty little-"
She reaches into the bush just below the ki sphere.
She hears the shrill squeak of instant transmission.
How does he know that?
She brings her hand to her forehead and follows after him.
Just as she appears, he teleports again.
For three jumps it goes like this, before he eventually gets tired and the kai manages to grab his shoulder.
With another application of Instant Transmission, they are teleported back to the other saiyans.
"Alright! So now that we've had our fun, it's time to learn the alphabet!"
"We can count... and read. Stop wasting our time." The boy frowns as he slides his way out of my grasp.
"But what about fraction. Decimals. Long Division."
"…"
"Look. It's Frieza." He states while pointing behind her.
"No it isn't." The kai denies heartlessly. "Let's go get you all some books! You've got a lot to catch up on for the academy."
"And what if we don't want to be a Time Patroller?" The strongest of the bunch glares up at her.
"Nobody is forcing you. Buuuuut you still need to go to school to learn important things. You can decide what you want to do with your lives after you graduate. There are many career paths in Era Gaia for you to pursue. All you need to do is work hard! Now, let's go do some reading!"
The saiyan children give her a collective look as if she had just blown up their hypothetical puppy.
Here. Have chapter 2 of this. Still unsure if I'm going to change this to 'Flame's Trash: The QQ Varient' or not but while you DBZ fans are here, I hope you enjoy!
