Reincarnation.

A grand idea! The pure thought of going to a world you know of from your past life can fill even the most dead inside of men with hope, excitement, and joy! And I am one of those lucky few!

Or rather, unlucky, considering I was placed in an ecchi anime known as DXD as the twin brother to the protagonist... and its common knowledge that DXD is a death world.

Ninty five percent of deaths in this world are caused by some sort of supernatural bullshit.

Your family hears you got in a car accident? Ooooh sorry, a stray devil had a fight against some exorcists in the middle of the road and it fucking ate you as one final hurrah.

Did you get kidnapped and mysteriously disappear? Sorry. You have a sacred gear and were graciously given a special gift, your race forcibly changed, and now you are nothing more than a plaything to a sadistic batshit insane devil who uses you in gladiatorial fights.

Get struck by lightning? Zeus had one too many brewskis and looked to his harem or whatever the fuck and was all 'heeeey watch this!' Then he starts pissing lightning everywhere.

Did the planet fucking BLOW UP?! Sorry. Ophis was having a bad day.

I shake my head and look down at the building blocks I am playing with.

At least I have an eventual method out of that chaos.

Another downside of reincarnation is birth.

FUCK remembering that. Other reincarnates will back me up on this. Birth SUCKS.

Ever get out of bed in the middle of winter, having cold shock your body, but suddenly you get squeezed through a fucking drainage ditch, feeling immense pain, have lights SCORCH your eyes, get roughly held by giants and spanked hard enough that it feels like your tender flesh has been ripped off your body just so you start breathing?

Not fun!

At least I still have a dick so I can enjoy the benefits of dxd... when it comes in like sixteen years.

Oh! And before I forget! Have you ever met god?

I did.

That was fun. He's sort of a troll, though.

I awake in a white void, nothingness as far as the eye can see.

I have no body anymore, just a simple white soul-y blob.

A mass of whirling teeth, eyeballs, and wings suddenly appears before me, looking like a damned shoggoth.

"BE NOT AFRAID" it screeches

'AAAAAAHHHHHHH!' I was though.

I was very afraid.

"PAHAHAHA!" It cackles as it morphs into an old man. "ahhhh that never gets old..." *Snrk-*

I am frozen in absolute shock.

"Sorry about that, it gets a little boring as a deity, I have to make fun where I can find it." The old man states as the void shifts, suddenly we are sat across from each other, in between us is a simple enough looking table with a tea set upon it.

"Would you like some tea?" God asks.

I mean, I don't have a mouth of a body so I wouldn't-

"You have a point." He shrugs as he snaps his fingers.

I am suddenly a featureless white figure with all the features of a normal human, except like... a nose... or ears... or eyes...

I just have a mouth and stubby little arms.

Did he just-

"Read your mind?" He finishes "Yes. Yes, I did."

Oh god.

"Present." The old man grins. "Now would you like some tea?"

"I-I wouldn't want to impose" I state while raising my hands.

"No, no, it wouldn't be imposing... it was my fault you died after all."

I blink slowly. 'Huh?'

"That is my bad." He mutters while scratching the back of my head. "So, I am going to fix it by reincarnating you."

"Oh sweet." I blink.

"I thought you would be a little angrier... I accidentally dropped a jet on your house."

I blink slowly. "Did anyone else die?"

"No, no, only you."

"Oh sweet." I agree.

Need to finish this quickly before I think anything weird.

"Don't worry about that, lad. I've already seen your memories, frankly porn addicted and lazy isn't the worst I have come across."

"I also know you have regrets. So I'll grant you three wishes to help you on the way to your new world."

I wonder if he will tell-

"The world I plan on sending you to is commonly known as the series DXD."

O-oh. W-well it could always be worse.

"S-So... for wishes can I wish for like... anything?"

"Within reason." The god states as he takes a sip of tea.

"what about a gamer syst-"

"No." He deadpans.

"…"

"As for why, those things casually create gods... and have killed gods through how energy intensive it is to make them... I might have killed you, but your old world will devolve into chaos if I were to die."

"Oh... uh... that sort of understandable, then."

I cup my chin, one of the only features I have.

If I am going to dxd... what should I wish for?

"Can I wish for DXD to be altered in a way that it's not a death world?"

"That would involve creating an entirely new reality... which I could do. But then it wouldn't be DXD anymore, would it?"

"How did dxd even appear in the first place, then?" I ask.

"People." The god smiles.

"H-Huh?"

"Humans are quite extraordinary... they might be physically weak, but... their mind is what sets them apart... gods gain power through followers and worship... the same can be said for places as well... if enough people know about something, out there in the wide multiverse, it exists. Then that world creates more worlds like a branching tree of reality."

He smiles as he takes a sip of his drink. "Every day a new world is being created from the aspirations and dreams of man. One Piece. Fairy Tail. The Elder Scrolls. Dragon ball. Dragon ball but Goku is a girl. They all exist somewhere out there... all because of you people. You dreamers... you truly make this world a more vibrant place."

He reaches over and pats my head. "But don't worry. I will make some slight changes... the disasters of the world may now be overcome... just as long as you put in a little effort."

He chuckles at my pout. "I know, effort. The thing you loathe."

An idea flashes to life in my mind.

"Well now." The god blinks. "That's certainly an idea."

He smiles. "That sounds fun. Would you like to do it? All you need to do is say the words~"

"If I'm going to dxd I need a sacred gear... for my sacred gear, may I design and print blueprints from nothing? And as part of that, may I have the ability to be smarter? One of my greatest insecurities was my lack of intellect... I mean, I feel I'm smart, I just don't have the knowledge... I don't know how to build cars, I don't know how a computer works, I don't know how to build a website... there's so much I feel I don't know and..."

"You feel that you'd be able to learn more if you were smarter?" The god asks with a knowing smile.

He tilts his head. "Alright. So far there's altered reality, where things will neatly fall into place should you accomplish your goals, then your intellect boosting sacred gear with the ability to make blueprints... you have one wish remaining I'll give you time to think as I come up with what your balance breaker might do."

Another flaw was my body... so...

"I've got it." The god grins as he snaps his fingers.

I stare at him without eyes

He covers his mouth and lets out a chuckle. "I'm not going to just TELL you! That'd ruin the surprise! Now for your last wish?"

"I wish my body didn't require a lot of upkeep to remain fit, attractive, and healthy... plus I wish I had a slight boost in physical abilities over a normal human that would be considered 'supernatural'. But undetectable."

The god nods. "Easily doable."

"Oh." The divine being continues. "I've taken the liberty of completely erasing anything related with EXE. That was a stupid addition to the lore of DXD and I didn't like it."

"Thank god." I sigh, shoulders slumping.

"You're welcome." The god smiles. "And for fun, I've even added a couple people to this world as well."

"Like who?" I blink slowly.

"Oh... you know." The god smiles as he runs a hand through his beard. "Just a couple... perhaps a certain green haired Esper, maybe the residents and servants of a certain vampiric mansion. Possibly the cast from that one VR death anime because of your goals. Who knows, really. And who knows if you'll ever find them anyways."

He gives me a sad smile. "And thus, our time together has come to an end... I wish you luck in your new life... Suzutsu Hyoudou."

"Oh you have got to be actually kidding me-"

With the next moment I am ripped off the peaceful little island and am shunted into darkness.

Fuck.

Ah... he was nice. Like an elderly grandfather.

Our conversation was pleasant. He was a good guy. Really checked all the boxes that a caring god should have. Cared about me despite my imperfections, and was nice enough to reincarnate me.

There's a bright flash as I look to the side to see my mother take a photo.

I glare pointedly, causing her to laugh and bring a hand to her mouth.

I return to stacking my blocks as Issei and Irina chew on other bricks and look around blearily.

Baby stuff.

Ugh... I want to be able to walk! I want to be able to TALK!

Being a baby SUCKS... but at least I have a lot of time to design... and God doesn't mess around.

With his upgrades I can easily understand how to do something that would be considered revolutionary technology back in my old world... and with my strength enhancements? He did NOT fuck around with those either... I could crush every single one of these wooden blocks in my hands if I really tried.

I still can't grasp how I plan to achieve my goal, however...

What's that goal you ask?

To create this world's very first- and most successful- VR gaming system!

If God won't give me a gamer system... I'LL MAKE MY OWN!

Now I just need to figure out how to get my parents to have dangerous equipment.

Man. Time flies.

Time flies when you are having fun and building inventions in secret that nobody knows about.

Eight years with insufficient resources to perfect something to defend myself...

Well, 'perfect'.

I did pretty good, honestly.

Made something that wouldn't be seen for the next one hundred to two hundred years with nothing more than scraps of broken technology that I stopped my parents from throwing away so I could 'play' with it.

"Suz!" Issei cheers. "Ren and I are going to the park! Let's go!"

"Okay. Let me get my backpack!" I respond as I turn and grab my backpack, sneaking into the hidden compartment I made and withdrawing two rings and two of what looks like a technologically advanced hair tie.

I slip them on as bracelets, they don't look 'off' at the average- or even close- look, so I take them with me wherever I go, the rings are a little stranger for an eight year old to wear, so I keep those in my pockets typically.

What do they do, you might ask?

Well, combined together they allow me to harness the elements themselves!

And by that, I mean that I can create one or two small orbs of plasma with each that I can toss at people.

Realistically these are anti-man weapons than anything that'll deal with supernatural. I doubt the weak 'plasma' would even do anything to them. It's not actually plasma because it doesn't burn that hot, technically it's a form of low voltage ball lightning capable of- theoretically scorching skin and stunning whoever it hits like some form of ranged taser.

If I wanted to kill something I'd just use my balance breaker- which I have unlocked by the way...

And let me just say one thing... GOD HAS NO CHILL!

He decked me out with something SO damn good... like WOW.

More props for him. My balance breaker is SCARILY good.

I haven't exactly needed to use it much, but I still tap into it every now and then to briefly test something.

I grab my backpack filled with simple snacks and stuff, then quickly leave my room, almost walking into Issei.

"You ready?" He asks.

"Yep!" I grin.

We leave the house and go across the street.

A girl with short boyish brown hair wearing a t-shirt and shorts rushes us and wraps an arm around our shoulders in a flying hug tackle. "SUZU! ISSE!"

Issei is nearly knocked down, of course, but I remain firm.

"Hey Ren!" Issei cheers.

"Hi Ren." I greet.

"Let's go to the secret spot!" Irina states.

""Right!"" Issei and I nod.

We swiftly make our way to the park and sneak our way into a bush- 'fort coolness'.

"The meeting of cool is in seshon!" Irina states.

'Session.' I mentally correct, my smile growing slightly to hide my internal sigh.

"So! Isse! What will we do today!"

"Hm." Issei hums as he cups his chin. "Before that... did the grand snack general bring the stuff?"

The two children look to me as I grab my backpack and place it on the ground in front of me.

"Did I bring the stuff?" I ask with a sly smile as I zip open the backpack.

"Lunchables, candy bars, chips, juice! I got it all!" I smile.

The two children gain a small gleam to their eyes.

They both take a juice, Irina getting orange while Issei gets apple.

I zip it up and put the backpack on.

"Now... what should we play today?" I ask.

"Hm." Irina hums. "What about tag?"

"ooooh!" Issei grins while sipping on his juice. "Tag sounds fun!"

We climb out of the bush and I slowly look back to the others. "So... who'll be it?"

"Not it!" Issei states.

"Not it!" Irina grins.

They both rush away while giggling.

'oh you little.'

I snort of begin chasing them with a calm jog.

I eventually catch up and tap the back of Issei's head. "Tag."

He whirls around as I turn and begin jogging away. "I'm gonna catch you!"

Irina giggles a short distance away.

The hairs on the back of my neck raise, causing me to stop running entirely.

Issei bumps into my back.

"I got you- hm? Suzu what's wrong?"

I slowly look around, three red eyes peer out at me from the tree line.

"Let's go home." I state as I grab my brothers' wrist.

"Huh? Why?" I hear Irina ask as I swiftly power walk towards her and grab her wrist as well.

"Well, mom said she was buying Grapefruits, right?" I ask as tug them along.

Their eyes widen. "G-Grapefruits?"

Grapefruits is our code word for stranger danger.

"Yeah." I nod as I slip my hands into my pockets and withdraw the rings, sliding my bracelets down over my palms. "Let's go."

We swiftly begin walking out of the now eerily quiet park, Irina and Issei could probably tell something was wrong now, even without my warning.

The hairs on the back of my neck raise again, causing me to whirl around, galloping towards us is a... creature.

It has the head of a horse, with three red eyes, one much larger than normal in the center of its forehead, its front limbs are large and reptilian, while the back half looks more like lion's, except with hooved feet, it has a long whip-like tail with a scythe-like blade on the end, its mouth has rows of razor sharp teeth, coated with blood, its front talons are also covered in blood.

I shove my brother and Irina forwards. "RUN!"

They both dash forwards as fast as they can, the horse... thing... narrows its eyes, a wave of fear rooting itself into my body and causing me to lock up for a moment.

I shake it off swiftly and cup my hands, creating a ball of plasma in between my hands.

The world flashes blue, its as if the ground is torn up and replaced with a blue hellscape, trees lose their bark as what looks like blueprint paper covers everything but myself, Irina, Issei, and my target.

My normally green pupils take on a deep blue color and gain white grids across them.

This is my world.

The orb of electricity is gravitated to one hand as I pull a hand back, I take a moment to notice that issei and Irina have barely gotten five feet before they froze in place.

Smoke spews from the corners of the horse's mouth as a white dotted line appears in the air, curving slightly as it connects with the chimera's torso, it gallops in slow motion as I swing my arm downwards, the orb shooting off as if I had hurled a baseball, it twirls through the air, gaining a slight curve from my throw.

The horse demon lunges to the side to avoid it, but it moved too late, the orb of energy clips it, sparking down its flank as the chimeric creature lets out a squeal that sounds like a mix between a horse's neigh and the roar of a lion.

Its eyes lock on me as I rush to the side, its eyes follow me as it changes targets and rushes after me.

According to the forest's blueprint, that is the only one in here.

Issei and Irina will be safe if I lead it away.

It is approaching swiftly, so I hop up and kick off the trunk of a tree, launching me up into the branches.

Its clawed hand slashes through the trunk I just hopped off, carving massive gashes in the wood well over an inch deep.

I look back at the horse to see a line trailing from its mouth towards my back as its back legs tense.

I dive downwards just as it lunges forwards and leaps, crashing through the branches I was hopping in between.

'this is far enough.'

A backpack that looks like it is made of white and blue wire mesh surrounds my current backpack, two small wing-like extensions poke out the back as tubes just absolutely cover the bottom.

Gouts of fire are shot out of the tubes as I am rocketed forwards, I whirl forwards as a wire mesh bracer appears around my forearm, swiftly followed by a metallic looking wire mesh glove.

A light spear appears in my hand it quickly shifts its form as my faux jetpack twists me around, I land roughly on the ground, my feet carving two trenches in the grass as I bring a hand down to slow my momentum, the jets on the winged jetpack fire briefly to halt my momentum entirely.

I am a good fifty feet in front of the strange man-eating beast by this point as the light spear reforms into a sword about four feet long... but light is weightless so I can wield it effortlessly.

The wings on my back suddenly spit flames as I am blasted forwards at high speed, my eyes narrow as I spy a white dotted line arcing through the air.

I shift my flight slightly upwards, watching as the line corrects slightly, but its still too far away.

I slash once as I pass the beast, it lets out a shriek of agony as a large gash appears in its forearm.

It whirls around just in time to catch the hurled blade to the nose, its head snaps backwards as its mouth is split down the middle.

I raise my hand into the sky, pointing a single finger upwards, a large spear of light steadily forms, sapping power from the gauntlet.

The spear grows, eventually stopping at the size of a man.

I hurl my arm downwards with a roar, the spear of light shooting off like a bullet.

It pierces the beasts side as it turns to run, then detonates, creating a large white globe roughly ten feet wide.

The glow eventually fades, revealing the creature... dead...

Very dead.

A hole the size of a watermelon is pierced through its side, probably piercing several organs, but that doesn't matter, most of its body is scorched, its three eyes stare lifelessly to the side, the wire mesh floor gains a divot about a foot deep around the corpse.

Grass regrows, trees lose their mesh-like quality, my jetpack and gauntlet disappear into motes of light as I fall to my knees.

Scorched grass and a small crater makes itself known around the beast's corpse.

I let out a long shaky breath as I look up to the dead body.

My balance breaker...

It allows me to see the blueprints of the land around me while also speeding up my comprehension speed, Living creatures stand out in my 'world'... I can also see the blueprints of attacks, figuring out the pattern and path of the attack, and any potential safe zones... particularly useful for magical attacks...

Finally it allows me to create quasi-real creations based on the blueprints I have made. There are a couple limitations to this. Firstly they have no mass... or more accurately... only I can interact with their mass.

I could make a sword, but I'd be unable to cut anyone but myself.

I could technically make a blueprint for a building and drop it on someone's head, but it'd do no damage because it's technically not a real building.

Shields also technically wouldn't work.

I can get around this, however, by creating items that GENERATE stuff, say for instance, a jetpack that makes fire to propel myself- which would work even if it didn't generate anything I've come to realize as I'm capable of interacting with the creations- or a gauntlet that uses electricity to generate and manipulate light energy into weaponry... well, then my creations can actually DO something!

Admittedly at a far lower efficiency than they would if I had actually made the item, mind you, but to be able to make that from nothing? Golden.

I've got to get Issei and Irina out of here before a devil comes snooping around.

I force myself to my feet and whirl around, then run as fast as my little legs can carry me, I eventually catch up with Issei and Irina who are running while sobbing.

"I lost it!" I call out. "Let's go!"

Pov: Elsewhere.
A man with blond bangs and black hair cups his chin as he lets out a low hum.

He watches a child flee at high speed.

"Hm."

He was in this town searching for a gift- also it is fun to snoop around in devil territory unannounced- but he suddenly sensed some filthy energy.

He looks down to the corpse of the strange chimeric creature, a yokai of some sort. One of the annoying man-eating kind.

He glances back in the direction the kid runs as he hops out of the tree, several large black feathered wings halting his fall and allowing him to slowly float down to the body.

He inspects the wound with a low hum.

the damage is almost exactly like an angel's light weaponry... roughly the damage of an average four-winged angel's spear- or a two winged putting their all into it.

He was prepared to help the three brats ages ago. But then one of them started shooting lighting, moving faster than an average human could, began flying, and summoned a light spear AND sword.

The brat has a sacred gear, but he can't exactly put his finger on what could possibly do all those things...

And the strangest thing, for his first attack, he couldn't actually sense that there was anything magical happening.

Strange.

He blinks as he realizes something.

Shit! He was supposed to get Mcdonalds... she's going to be so angry.

It wouldn't do for his adorable little daughter to give him the silent treatment again!

He'll check up on the little brat the next time he is Kuoh.

"Milly... I'm back." The blond banged man grins as he steps into a small apartment located somewhere in the underworld.

A small girl in a frilly black dress slowly turns her head away from the Tv, a half-lidded deadpan on her face as she spies the happy meal held within the man's hand.

"I already ate." She states.

"W-What?" He asks.

"You were gone for five hours, dad... I made myself pizza bites half an hour ago." The girl sighs as she returns to rapidly tapping buttons on the controller in her hands.

Mittelt Sacrilege Moonshimmer. His adorable little girl.

He failed her.

He recoils slightly.

"I-I'm a bad dad." He whispers.

"You sort of are." The girl nods. "But with all you have to do, I understand."

The man lets out a sigh and sits next to the girl. "Are you sure you don't want this?"

"Yeah." She nods. "Just put it in the fridge. I'll eat it later."

He gets up and walks to the kitchen, dozens of mechanical parts are strewn across the kitchen table, alarm clocks, motherboards, controller casings.

Little Milly is just like her father, she absolutely adores making stuff, but recently she seemed to be losing said joy.

That little game system she is playing on was a creation of Her's as well. She fixed it up from broken with a smile on her face.

Luckily, she seems to take after him and not that lazy bitch of an egg doner.

He puts the happy meal in the fridge and walks back to the living room and takes a seat next to the girl.

She has been... distant... recently.

She turns to look at the man suddenly.

"Dad... I want to go to school... I want to live like a normal girl... I want friends."

"Huh?" The man asks.

"I'm always so... lonely when you leave." The girl mutters.

"Mittelt." The man sighs. "There's no other children your age in the Grigori..."

Also he doesn't really want to put her around other fallen who only respect wing-count. he's able to more or less hide her existence from the Grigori as a whole due to taking numerous preclusions before coming back. like hiding himself with an illusion and all that.

But a fallen angel... one so young... with six wings? People will make note of that.

"T-Then I want friends from outside!"

The man rubs his head slowly. "I'll... see what I can do."

Pov: returned

Hoo boy.

It has been a short little month since we were attacked by the strange horse thing... Issei and Irina have both completely forgotten about it, even I find my thoughts drawn away from it sometimes, so that's some supernatural mental fuckery at play... but my mental fortitude told that magic to go fuck itself.

I sit in the shed we have in our back yard, glancing over my shoulder every now and then as I quietly tinker with the old family computer.

I let out a low hum as I stand up and walk to a nearby outlet.

I take one look back, the world turns blue as layers of the computer are pulled back, allowing me to view the schematics of the inside.

'That looks goo-'

I see a large mesh covering the corner of the room.

'what the hell is that-'

I frown as I plug the computer into the outlet.

The pc whirrs to life, the monitor sitting on the floor beside it, it shows a simple home screen as I cautiously slide my bracelet around my palm.

"Who's there?" I snarl as I point my hand forwards, an orb of lightning quickly forming in my hand.

The entire wall looks like it is shattered like glass revealing a man sitting there with his hands raised.

"Woah, woah, kid, calm down."

Ah. Shit. Him.

How did he find me so fast.

My eyes narrow as I continue holding out the orb of electricity defensively.

The man lets out a low hum as he looks to the ring and bracelet. "Well, I'll be damned... it wasn't magic, but technology."

He snaps his fingers, causing the orb of electricity to be snuffed out.

He has black hair with blond bangs, reddish pink eyes, and a goatee.

With a mere snap of his fingers, he managed to discharge the electricity and guide it to the floor.

"So. Introductions then... my name is Azazel. Governor of a supernatural task force called the Grigori. I saw your little fight with the yokai a week ago, and well, I'd like to offer you a job."

"Supernatural... task force?" I slowly ask.

"That's right." He nods.

I frown and narrow my eyes.

"Don't believe me?" He asks as he slowly stands. "Hm. I guess that's understandable."

Six pairs of wings sprout from his back, causing my eyes to widen.

"H-Huh? You're an angel?!" I ask.

"Damn right." The man grins. "And I'm here to offer you a position in the Grigori. We need some more research and development people, and I think you might just have what it takes."

"…"

"What's the catch?" I ask with narrowed eyes.

"No catch." He waves off. "You tell me no, and I'll walk right out of this shed, and you'll probably never see me again, but I can see a little bit of myself in you... you crave something larger, right? You want to build something bigger, better, far larger than what you currently have, right?"

"I will tell you, if I leave, I can't promise other supernatural factions won't try to reach out to you... they probably won't be as nice as I am... but in the Grigori, you'd have a barrier against anyone who wants to attempt anything with you."

Let's go over the perks and flaws of joining the Grigori... first off, the perks, legitimate tools instead of whatever I've managed to cobble together, funding, the ability to flee from public school and never look back- that one counts as two perks purely because my time could be better spent elsewhere, all children are absolute sociopaths and school sucks... next I'll gain a protective barrier against the supernatural.

Flaws? I'll be joining the faction that causes a bunch of problems in canon. People will attack me for being a part of the Grigori possibly... I'll be within spitting distance of Freed and Kokabiel.

Fuck it. If I want to make the very first Vr Gaming system before canon comes around, I've gotta get in the Grigori.

"My parents won't let me use tools to make my inventions better..." I slowly state. "I've had to make most of my stuff using my above average strength to bend stuff, and whatever non power tools I could find and hide... I'll join your organization if you can give me funding and tools."

"Easily done." The man nods as he stands. "Well, I'll be going now... I'll be back in a couple of days to give you an excuse to leave- you do want to leave, right?"

"I do." I slowly nod.

"Alright." He nods.

A magic circle appears below him, and in the next moment... he is gone!

Teleportation is bullshit. I can't even begin to comprehend that.

Here's another thing I've had sitting in the background for was going to be a re-write of the original Flame's trash chapter... hell, i was probably even going to make it its own series at some point. buuuut it can sit here for now, i guess as i wasn't really doing anything with it beforehand.
