Don't Own the DXD or whatever other nonsense I eventually add in this fic, Only The Oc
'thought'
"Speech"
"Tvs, Radios, and Text via book or newspaper... when those are around..."
A girl's hands shake slightly as she takes a seat in the pod, a bright beaming smile is on her face.
Her name is Rias Gremory... and for the first time in AGES she has been mind numbingly excited about something.
She has followed whatever she could about 'Eden Interactive' since the first time she heard about it. She tried looking into the Ceo of the company, but... she found nothing.
She found out that it was a company backed by the Grigori, of course and have heard rumors that it was a human that was the Ceo, but that's all she could figure out.
In her hands is a helmet, the words 'Put me on' spelt upon it with different colored material on the front.
She follows the instructions, her eyes straying to a button on the armrest labeled 'close'.
She pushes it causing two large oval halves to slide forwards and entomb her within the device.
On one of the halves is an arrow that, now that the system is closed, points to another button.
"Turn On."
She pushes the button after relaxing in the chair, then...
Darkness.
After around ten seconds of adjustment, there's a blinding light.
*Ping*
"Welcome to the Domain of Magic Showcase Build 2.0!"
A screen has appeared before her.
"Your remaining play time is tracked Here!"
There's a small arrow that points to a ticking digital clock.
"It shall now be inserted into your HUD."
The clock appears at the corner of her vision.
She slowly turns her head, the timer following after her.
"At any point in time you wish to return to character select, please loudly say 'Character Select'."
"Please Say 'Character Select'. If you understand this."
"Character Select?" Rias echoes
With a flash she is taken elsewhere.
She floats in an empty void.
Six portraits sit before her, the first, a brown haired ninja-like character.
Dobengal:
Practices Light Magic and has access to basic teleportation magic.
The next, a man with an extremely tall fuzzy cat in the hat styled hat with orange hair.
Jet:
Practices Speed Magic.
The third, is a shirtless black haired teen, there's a strange blue mark on his chest.
Grey Fullbuster:
Practices basic 'Ice Make' magic.
Her gaze shifts to the next three who are all women.
The first is that red haired woman that, in the girls option, resembles herself.
Erza Scarlet:
Practices 'Requip' magic and Telekinesis magic. Has an expansive armory of magical weapons and armors, each with their very own unique effects.
So cooool!
The next woman was also in the trailer, the woman Erza was fighting.
Juvia Lockser:
Practices an advanced form of Water magic.
And the final girl?
The apparently dead one.
Lisanna Strauss:
Practices 'Takeover: Animal Soul'. A form of magic that allows you to possess and subjugate the wills of certain creatures, taking their forms at a later date.
Uhhh.
Let's go with the girl that looks like her!
She reach out and touches the portrait of the red haired woman.
With a flash, she is elsewhere.
She stares out across a grassy expanse; a gentle breeze ruffles her long red hair.
She...
She can feel it.
Her gauntleted hands shake slightly as she crouches down, plucking a strand of grass from the dirt.
It-
She takes a deep breath, eyes closing as she basks in the warmth of the sun.
She can smell it.
Nature.
She can even hear it!
A small part of her always assumed that this was too good to be true.
However.
Now that she is here? In the world?
All her disbelief has been utterly crushed, ground to powder, then Incinerated.
How did they even manage this?
She looks over her body, she is clad in metallic armor, a blue skirt, and knee-high black boots.
She knocks her knuckles on her shoulder pads, earning a quiet 'clank-clank' noise from her gauntlets.
Her chest is smaller than it used to be... is this how Koneko feels every time she looks at the red haired girl herself or Akeno?
A screen appears next to her, a second shortly following it.
System Assisted Magic:
Allow us to get you started on some spells! In the real game, you will be forced to research this stuff on your own, but for now, just have some fun! (Ps. That little camera fairy behind you is recording you, so maybe don't do anything... ah... lewd to yourself. You know who you are, perverts who would do this.
She glances over her shoulder to see something that looks like a near-transparent camcorder with little butterfly wings, she offers it a small wave and faces forwards as another screen appears.
Telekinesis Controls:
She looks to see a small animation of her character point out at a rock, a little speech bubble appearing above her head. "GRASP!"
The next image shows Erza moving her finger around slowly, guiding the rock around the air. She abruptly swings her arm forwards, causing the rock to shoot off at high speeds.
Requip Controls:
There's an animation of Erza standing there, she shouts 'Requip: Flame Empress Armor' then her form changes. She is now clad in orange slightly draconic looking armor, her long red hair tied into pigtails.
Additionally, you may simple equip your character, mixing and matching armor pieces and weapons by saying 'Requip: Inventory' to bring up a basic equipment screen.
List of Armors to try out:
Flame Empress Armor
Sea Empress Armor
Black Wing Armor
Heaven's Wheel Armor
Lightning Empress Armor
Purgatory Armor
"Hmmm." The girl hums, looking over the armor.
From where she is standing, she can see numerous wolves in the distance, running throughout the field.
Targets for her to test her spells on, she presumes.
"Requip: Flame Empress Armor."
With a blinding flash, her entire body is covered in white light.
When it clears a few seconds later she is coated in orange, black and red armor. In one hand is a sword of matching colors.
Rias brings her hand up to her throat.
That... hadn't been her voice. It had been the woman's voice from the trailer.
She shakes her head and looks over her body.
To create a mirror, please say 'Requip: Mirror'
The girl blinks twice, then does exactly that. "Requip: Mirror."
Appearing before her is a full body-length mirror, allowing her to take in her appearance.
The armor itself is... classic 'Rpg Woman's Armor'. Relatively Scantily clad, vibrant, and good to look at.
It is comprised of a dark armored leotard that exposes some of her cleavage and leaves her shoulders and upper arms entirely exposed, gauntlets that come up to just past the elbows and long grieves that leave a strip of upper thigh open to the world on both legs.
She swings her sword through the air, the edge being primarily red in color with the handguard being orange and having a black line going down the very center of it.
She watches as fire briefly flickers around the blade.
She nods once and rushes forwards, leaping off the cliff, summoning her wings-
Wait.
Her wings?
She plummets downwards with a girlish cry. Rolling down the hill at high speed.
She lands in the grass, staring upwards at the bottom of the hill.
"...'
A red blade flips through the air. "EEP-"
It sinks into the dirt right beside her head as she flinches to the side.
"..."
A scarlet blush appears on the girl's face as she lays there in shame. A fair portion of her very being wishing she could just curl up and die right now!
Wait. Then she wouldn't get to play this game!
Maybe postpone the dying of embarrassment bit.
Gosh she is so freaking embarrassed.
Of course this character didn't have wings. She's human.
But she flew in the trailer...
Telekinesis perhaps?
She slowly gets up, brushing off the strands of grass sticking to her body, grasping the sword that nearly stabbed her in the face.
She is so embarrassed right now, and she's going to go take it out on those wolves!
She lunges forwards, her speed... a little bit faster than she is used to, actually.
She's more of a magic user. This is honestly the first time she'll be using a sword in some form of battle or sparring.
The first pack of wolves seem to notice her as she rushes across the ground.
But, they are hilariously slow to her. As if they were moving in slow motion.
She swings the blade through the air and with almost zero resistance at all, the blade cleaves through the first wolf, splitting it in half.
The next two quickly follow behind it, and as the fourth leaps up to try and bite the redhead's neck- admittedly Rias might have lost focus while watching the halves of her enemies slowly drift apart- she panics and uppercuts it.
She blinks owlishly as the wolf is forced to do a backflip, jaw hanging loosely as it flops to the floor.
*Poof*
After a long moment, It disappears like the other wolves.
"Huh..." Rias lowly mutters, a grin appearing on her face.
She still has fifteen minutes! Let's see what other armor this character has!
Besiiides, there's nothing saying that she can't just get back in line after this.
"Requip: Sea Empress Armor!" She calls out, and, in the next moment she is clad in something that is somehow even more lewd.
It's basically a bikini.
She has an armored tiara that frames her face, fins on both sides. In her hand is a sword with two little fins on the handguard.
"Requip: Mirror."
She looks over herself again, a small smirk working itself onto her face.
This is fun!
She wonders what other armor will be in the game?
A red haired girl steps out of a large egg-like device, a beaming smile on her face. She quickly runs over to the tall red-haired man standing close by.
"So? How was it?" He asks with a small smile.
"It was INCREDIBLE!" The younger girl grins. "It- it- it felt real. Like... I was physically touching each and every blade of grass, physically cracking every twig that I picked up and snapped. The smell of metal, the crackling of fire, the warmth of the sun... how... how have they achieved this?! You- you have to try it!"
"Hm." He mutters mutely. "I believe I'll refrain for now. I'll likely get one when the system is officially released."
He gestures forwards as another of the pods open revealing a girl of short stature and long pink hair- now lightly frazzled- tied into pigtails.
She smiles and walks over to the two redheads, briefly frowning downwards at her chest. "So... that's what having big boobs is like."
"M-Milim!" Rias sounds aghast that she knows someone who would pervert her newest obsession.
The pink haired girl slowly turns, her hair a perfect mix of her mother's and her fathers. "Hey, dad. Can you find me the person who made this? I want to meet them."
"Wh- you can't be thinking of adding them to your peerage!" Rias protests. "That what I was going to try and do!"
Milim sticks out her tongue.
She might not look it, or act it, but she's about twice the age of the taller and bustier redhead.
"Well well, my dearest aunt. Perhaps a game is in order, hm? Whoever finds them first... wins the prize!" The girl smiles brightly, clasping her hands together.
"Milim! You can't!"
The smaller girl just simply grins.
A yawn leaves my mouth as I sit up from my bed.
For the first time in a long while... I feel genuinely well rested.
Well, time to start that nine to five.
I get out of bed, quickly change my clothes, then go to the kitchen and grab a simple fruit and grain bar from my countertop. Then I'm out the door and heading towards the lab.
My hand swipes across the keypad. I've long since forgone the use of my keycard, simply memorizing the magical signature within and creating a perfect copy with my sacred gear's balance breaker whenever I want to get in some place.
My sacred gear itself seems to be evolving, honestly.
I can make faux copies without balance breaking now. Plus I can hold said balance breaker basically forever now if I so wanted.
The door swings open as I step inside.
Ah, Mittelt's not in yet. Probably sleeping late after yesterday's showcase.
Damn, I sort of wish I stayed in bed now.
A yawn leaves my lips as I walk over to a laptop and turn it on.
I should probably work on that first month event.
The first month of Domain of Magic is going to be heralded by four key events, the first, starting upon the grand opening, will be an event that doubles the drop rate of items. After that, would be the event that improves experience gained in combat, specifically designed to take place after the first event to more or less... limit... what people in the game could gain access to.
Week three is a skill exp event, and finally, week four, is a festival that has a 'Newbie Wizard' tournament with a bunch of little carnival games.
There will be two key tournaments, one that includes everyone below level twenty, and a greater tournament that includes everyone who is above said level.
Plus, there will be Npcs to even out the numbers for a tournament bracket in the case we get a number that can't evenly be placed into brackets like fifty or eighty three.
Let's see here... magical cork gun games and beanbag toss are finished... what else can I add?
Obviously we're going to have food stalls as well.
I let out a low hum.
Oh! Duck pond!
A flowing little river with a bunch of little rubber ducks, each with a tier of prize written on the bottom.
The main thing I'm going to be worrying about is the carnival prizes.
What should I do about them? well, candy, obviously, but beyond that I'm unsure.
Maybe a 'weak' magic item like that clothes color changing box could be a grand prize. These aren't really meant to be 'top tier' items in-game.
Maybe I could give out a commemorative bottle cap that unlocks stuff in the Vr chat and Theater mode?
Oooh. What about Action figures
A series of collectable action figures of Domain of Magic characters that when collected we, at Eden Interactive, sends the person in question who did so copes of the figures from the game.
We'd need to be sure that collecting all of them are difficult, though.
To ensure we only give out very few, maybe we could have the last action figure be a secondary reward for placing first, second, and third in the two tournaments? That would ensure we- at most- would only have to make six sets.
I made that 3d printer ages ago. I'll likely cover the creation of the figures themselves by myself.
"Ohoho this'll be fun!" I grin as I clasp my hands together.
Pov: Elsewhere.
"Azazel." a black haired woman in a green dress greets coldly.
"Serafall! How lovely to see you again." The man in a dark burgundy coat states, with a put-on smile. "I am curious as to why you were so adamant about speaking to me as I'm fairly certain my goons haven't done anything audacious and stupid recently."
"What is your scheme. Azazel." The woman frowns, eyes narrowing. "What do you gain from this?"
His eyes flick to the side briefly, wondering what exactly she is talking about. "Uh. Pardon? What do you mean by 'Scheme'."
"Eden interactive and the Eden System. What is your game here?" The woman questions.
"Hah. What's my game? And it's a video game? Nice pun." The blonde banged man huffs in amusement.
"I am serious here. What does The Watcher himself have to gain from this? Selling a system decade more advanced than what is on the market... with technology so advanced that it could only be created through magic."
"I'm going to stop you right there. We might have used a little bit of magic here and there to streamline things for some testing here and there. But each and every single aspect of the Eden system was created through nonmagical means. Every single part is nonmagical."
"Why make it? What is your ploy. The Great King faction is worried, as are my fellow Satans. A lot of damage could be done with this sort of technology. Many people could be assassinated through it." Serafall begins. "Surely it took you considerable time to create this, right. So there has to be some sort of greater meaning behind it!"
"Ah. I see you haven't managed to get a copy of the blueprints for Ajuka to figure out even with your numerous spies around here. Damn. That kid doesn't mess around..." He begins. "And it appears that you don't even know about him. I wonder how he did it. To answer your question... I didn't make Eden. Someone else entirely did."
"And you trust his intentions with the fact that he could very easily tell just who in the world is now in a very vulnerable state and where they are?"
"Pfft- yeah." Azazel rolls his eyes. "I know him well enough. He'd get really offended that you'd think he'd stoop that low. To attack people who are enjoying his creation?"
"You are avoiding my question." Serafall states evenly. "Even if you aren't the creator. You would surely know of the inner workings of this machine. Are you going to look me in the eyes and say that when- no... if it releases. That when Ajuka gets his hands on one and cracks it open there will be nothing except the components that make it function?"
"If?" The man frowns. "Ah, you're threatening to sabotage? How heavy handed Serafall. As for your question. Nah. Cause I'd be lying."
"Well then, Watcher. Tell me. What does it do?"
"Well, its key aspect is what we display, obviously, but other research divisions were wondering why I was putting so many resources into- in their words- 'a simple human plaything'- the answer was that it was cool- so the creator of the system added in a sacred gear detector that just tells if someone has a sacred gear or not. Not strength. Not amount- if the person in question somehow managed to get that one in a trillion chance to awaken more than one sacred gear- just if they have one or not. That's pretty much it. Well, besides the other things we listed in the presentation, of course, air purifiers, health monitoring, that sort of drab and boring safety stuff."
"..."
"I want to meet him." The woman demands, causing the man with blonde highlights to frown slightly.
"Well, I can ask, but that's about it."
Pov: returned.
I glance over my shoulder as the door opens, Mittelt wanders in with a tired yawn.
"Hey." I greet.
"Hey." She replies as she takes a seat next to me.
She rubs an eye as she reaches over the table, grabbing a laptop herself. "So, what are you working on?"
"Carnival games for the first event. Mainly the prizes."
"No broken shit." The girl frowns.
"Duh." I scoff. "I was planning to- at most- have the grand prize for a rubber duck game be a little magic box that lets you temporarily change the color of your clothes. Plus I was thinking about a little set of Wizard action figures."
"What would the purpose of those be?" The girl frowns.
"Each one unlocks an prop in Vr chat maybe?" I question with a small shrug. "But the main reason I was thinking about these action figures is that I wanted to make it so people who collect all of them are sent real life copies of the figures."
"No. That'll cost a lot. Do you even know how many people would complete the set? We're likely going to have millions of people playing the game. If even a tenth of a percent of people get all of them that's thousands of people getting shipped like... what, eight figures? That'll cost SO much."
"That's the thing, Milly-telt." I grin. "I was planning on making one of the figures a tournament exclusive. Thus only the winners of the tournament can actually complete the set."
Her eyes widen slightly as she considers that. "Ah, Devious. Alright whatever. Top four, right? Eight sets of figures is nothing compared to our profits. Plus, the event itself would likely cause a bunch more people to play... even more than it being the first functioningtrue Vr game in all of history."
"Well, I was considering only the top three, but yeah, top four would probably be better... I'll probably make ten copies of the figures, though, because I want one too, and you can have the tenth."
"it'd be something neat to put on my shelf." The girl shrugs. "So how many of these things are we making?"
"Ah. That's the thing I'm more or less working on. I'd like it to be at least six. Any more than twelve would probably be too much." I begin as I turn my laptop, showing her what has been done.
She nods slowly, eyes flicking across the screen. "Yeah, probably."
"Not many options, so far, hn?" The girl hums. "Just some food stalls and stuff?"
"Well, I've been forced to more or less renovate Fiore's capital city for this event." I admit. "That's why it's taking a while. We need to realize that a small itty bitty town square isn't going to be enough room for the millions of players who want to play. Besides, I can totally use these assets in the future once we do some anniversary shenanigans. You need to keep in mind, that the one year anniversary will seem like a four-year anniversary. Five years will seem like twenty. Ten will be forty."
"Well, it'll be about half of that." The girl points out. "As nobody will be able to stay in the system forever."
"Counter point. Hospital Edition systems which won't have the sequence to boot out their users after a set time."
"Fair." She shrugs. "But even then, they'll have to sleep. so about half that time."
I let out a small sigh. "I still think that times four speed might be too much. You log out and sleep for eight hours, suddenly you've missed two days, your party is in ruins, and your guild was trashed."
"I mean, there wasn't much we could do to fix it." The girl shrugs. "It's not a big enough of a deal to waste so much time in fixing it. Besides, it's like you said. People love more time to do fun stuff."
"I hope we've made the leveling up slow enough so we're not dealing with level one hundreds and up by the half year mark. I doubt we'd even finish adding all of Ishgar by that point." I scoff. "Anyways, who do you think we should make action figures of?"
"A better question is, 'who the hell would be the hyper-rare action figure that you win in the tournament?'." The girl shoots back.
"Oh, that's easy. Pre mental break Mirajane in her Satan Soul form."
"Hm." Mittelt hums. "Alright, I can see it. You said she was rivals with Erza, right? Let's make her's reasonably hard to grab as well. What about making it so you can pick either her figure or the colors magic box for winning the duck thing- if it is what I am thinking of, at least."
"What are you thinking of?" I question.
"Little revolving artificial river with rubber ducks, each with a number, letter, or shape painted on their underside linking to a certain prize with there being very few ducks with a 'worthwhile' prize."
"Yep, you got it." I confirm. "And good idea. After her, I was thinking of also adding Gildarts."
"Who?"
"One of Fairy Tail's S Class wizards. The dude's super strong. He's away on a mission right now." I admit.
"Hm. Hm." The girl hums mutely. "What about Natsu and that Iron guy?"
"Yeah, probably figures of them as well." I agree.
The door opens, Revealing the man who brought me here in the first place. Azazel himself.
"Hey Hey brats." He waves lazily.
"Azazel." I greet with a small nod. "How are you."
"Ah, I'm pretty good, just a minor pain in the ass I've been dealing with. I actually came here to ask you something. Do you want to meet with Serafall Leviathan?"
"Hah?" I question. "Why?"
"Because she's being a pain in the ass about the Eden, saying things like 'Oh, it's a possible threat.' And making insinuations like the devil race is going to put a stop to it."
"Well, I mean, if I shipped it with a nuclear bomb in each and every one, I could sort of see how It'd be dangerous. But I just didn't have enough uranium." I roll my eyes as I rise to my feet. "Let's get this shit over with."
And thus, the first change Mr. Isekai Deity made to the world has been revealed. Milim Nava now Milim Gremory (Or Lucifuge). Older Sister to Millicas Gremory and Rias' (older) Neice.
Honestly, it fit surprisingly well. Her hair is a mix of her parents, Sirzech's red, and Grayfia's white to form a light pinkish red color, she has blue eyes like Sirzechs, has 'Mili' in her name like their second child's 'Milli'.
As for Serafall, she's right to be cautious. The Grigori is known as the home for copious amounts of nut jobs (Just look at Freed and Valper). To be told that the Vr system doesn't just like... project an image around the user and physically makes them unconscious (Thus incredibly vulnerable) and physically 'takes them into the virtual world'. If it logs location and who is using it, you could very easily take out problematic enemies by launching an attack on them once they go inside. To now hear that it is taking note of every sacred gear wielder that plays it? With the most interesting game being a magical combat simulator, It honestly sounds like the Grigori is preparing for war.
