After an hour or so of playing with the girls and hoping they forgot about the ponies, it was almost time to get ready to leave.
Clark joined them in the yard a box under his arm, "I've brought you guys some of the cloth from the Fortress," he said passing the box to Sam.
"Thanks but we only needed a sample of it to be able to make our own," Sam pointed out as she picked up one of the pieces of cloth.
Clark nodded, "I know, but it's not that hard to make a few pieces I figured you guys would be able to experiment with it."
Alex smiled as he also picked up a piece letting his suit absorb the cloth, "Thanks, so how are things with Chloe?"
Clark had a large smile growing, "She and Lois were talking about training," then his smile fell a little, "They did threaten me for forcing Chole away just to keep her safe."
Alex shrugged, "Yeah that's got to be fun to look forward to, I think you went a bit overboard with that."
"Yeah, I know but she was targeted by everyone who knew she was aware of me but wouldn't talk about it, then she had to fake her death to get free from Lex."
"Okay well now you don't have to worry about it and see your closest friend again, I did look for Pete but he moved off after college and it will take a while to find him."
"No it's best to leave him alone, he's a little jumpy around powered people, I think he left with his mother to get away from the weirdness around the town," Clark said shoulders slumping.
Alex nodded, "Yeah I get that."
"Yeah, I can look in on him in civilian clothes and make sure he is fine,"
"Alright that is fine I'm just hoping to keep your closest friends safe," Alex said while watching Sam give a piece of cloth to Karen.
Clark smiled, "You'd end up turning the entire population into Kryptonians."
"Nah I got the ones that were closest to you if I did that you would have died of boredom with nothing to do with everyone else being able to do what you do, with Lois, Kara, Conner, and Stephanie you're going to see a lot of drops in your superhero gig."
"Maybe but it'll be nice to have the backup and possibly get some downtime," Clark said with a large grin.
Alex looked back to Clark and nodded, "Yeah that's going to take you some time to get used to."
"Yeah," Clark said with a laugh.
"Well, it's about time we get going, we'll be back in a few weeks or so and have a few stories to tell," Alex said while holding out a hand to shake, Clark took the hand and shook it.
"Take care of yourselves."
"We will, if I can I'll bring back some new toys for the tech guys to play with and Chloe will be busy with the new computers I gave her."
Clark laughed, "We'll never see her until she's taken them apart to see what makes them tick."
"Yeah, I know but I'm sure she will be able to make stuff run better for the league members when she is done with them."
"There is that."
Sam joined them with Karen on her shoulders and Powergirl standing in the door of the house watching.
"Well it has been fun but we need to get going before the others decide to get down here and drag on the goodbyes," Sam pointed out as Stephanie few at Karen and hugged her.
"Bring me a pony," Stephanie said while looking at Alex.
Alex looked at Clark who was trying not to laugh, "I'll try and see what I can do."
"Yay," both girls cheered as Stephanie returned to Clark.
The three adults laughed at their antics, "We'll be coming back here to the farm, we're going to be looking for Sam's home reality that place is possibly in trouble or going to be, she wants to give them a boost in technology and possibly powers We'll see how things go."
"Okay, I'll let the others know."
"Tell Lois I'll bring back some new clothes."
Clark nodded then looked off into the distance, "Well it looks like I have a bank robbery to stop, Grundy is not going to go down easily."
" Okay have fun with that, oh if you fill his mouth with salt and sew his lips together it should stop him, I'm surprised the magic users haven't said anything about that," Alex said while walking to the door to his house.
Clark just gaped at him, Sam looked at Stephanie and smiled at her, "You behave and I'll make sure you get your pony."
"Okay," Stephanie cheerfully said while Clark only groaned.
"Here almost forgot this, " Alex said as he held up the earpiece he borrowed from the watchtower.
Clark took the earpiece and put it in a pocket with a nod.
Alex returned to the door followed by Sam and Karen, once inside they waved to Clark and Stephanie before Alex closed the door.
"Okay, I'll get us going, Sam go grab the cards on the coffee table, they are the I.Ds for you and Karen and debit cards in the market, for now, you keep them on you."
"Debit card?" Sam excitedly asked causing Alex to groan.
"You can go shopping later," he said while looking at the door before putting his hand on it before closing his eyes, and focusing.
The others watched as the lights coming through the window took on a rainbow-like effect, after a few seconds he dropped his hand and turned to face the room.
"This'll take a little bit of time to finish."
"Where did you send us?" Sam asked while putting away the cards.
Alex smiled and then walked to sit on the couch, "I've been thinking about what we can do for the SGC so I decided to go to a close by reality for a quick stop to get a scan of some armor that will be useful for the teams."
"Okay that works but where are we going?"
"Batman Beyond is about fifty years ahead of where we just left I don't plan on leaving the house, the world is a bit dark and I don't want to stay there for long," Alex told them as the lights outside the window darkened showing a dimly lite room.
Alex smiled as he stood from the couch and walked to the door, grabbing the door knob he focused on putting the door right in front of the armor he wanted a scan of.
Opening the door he smiled and then reached out a few inches touched the armor and scanned it.
Just as he was pulling his hand away the armor activated and grabbed his arm and pulled him out of the house.
"Identify yourself," the aged voice of Bruce Wayne spoke from it.
"Dammit you paranoid bastard," Alex said as he jerked his arm from the armor's grasp.
"Answer me, boy," Bruce growled out from the armor as it took a battle stance.
"I'm going to say not a good idea to attack me I'll take your toy apart like tissue paper."
The armor struck out hitting Alex in the stomach only for the hand to crumple with the sounds of parts breaking.
"Stop it before I get annoyed and break this."
In response, the armor kicked his legs only for it to warp around it with more sounds of pieces shattering.
"Alex stop pestering the man and get back in here and take us to see him," Sam called from the doorway.
"Fine but you are going to talk to this dofus," Alex said while stepping back into the house and closing the door just as the armor tried to grab him.
"Okay I'll handle him but why do you insist on picking fights with him?" Sam asked while Powergirl and Karen watched.
"It's just that he is the main reason Gotham is such a crime-filled place, here in this reality crime has been cut down to a minimum mostly due to Batman retiring after a criminal pushed him beyond his self-imposed rules," Alex told the three.
"What about the curse on the city?"
"There isn't one here, here it is all human nature and he is responsible for the ones that were in this Gotham."
Alex looked at the door and smiled as he touched it and focused on Bruce Wayne, gesturing for Sam to go talk to Bruce.
Sam passed Karen to Powergirl, standing she walked to the door and opened it to find a very old Bruce Wayne sitting at a computer looking at monitors.
" Yeah you're right he is a paranoid one," she said causing Bruce to jump to his feet brandishing a cain like a club.
"Yeah that's why I just wanted to copy the armor but this dumbass pulled me out of the house so now we got to wait a few days before we can leave."
Bruce stood there glaring at the two, "Ace," the old man called out, as he spoke out a Doberman pincer charged to attack only to slide to a stop as Karen came flying out of the house and latched onto his neck.
"Doggy!!," Karen squealed as she launched herself at the now-confused guard dog.
Alex smiled as he watched the dog look to Bruce for commands but the old man had slumped into the chair he had jumped out of to confront the intruders.
"Yeah that's not a good idea, to begin with, " Alex said while pointing to Karen then himself and Sam, "We are stronger than we look and it's your fault we are here for a while."
"How is it my fault you snuck into the cave trying to steal from me?" Bruce growled out.
Alex grinned, "If you hadn't used the suit to pull me out of my house we would have left this world now we're stuck here for a few days."
Bruce growled again, as Sam laughed at Alex picking on him," Stop picking on the paranoid man who doesn't recognize that he is the main reason Gotham is such a crime-filled place," she said while slapping Alex on the shoulder.
"Don't blame me for the criminals that infest the city," Bruce snapped out.
"Yeah I'm not going to get into the whole thing again, he'll deny that his pitty party about his parents being killed and running off and learning to fight only to come home to find the guy he trained to hunt down was already dead so he went on to beat up other people and pushed them to building gear to take him down and all that, he will refuse to see it to justify his actions," Alex said while waving at Bruce.
Bruce growled again as Alex spoke, " And what about the league?"
"They focused on powered villains and natural disasters, you went for petty crooks the cops could handle instead of just sticking to the Joker and a few other people the cops couldn't."
" So do I come back later?" a male voice asked from the doorway.
Alex turned to find Terry McGinnis standing in the door while looking ready to fight if needed.
"Nah it is fine we're just having a go at the old man about his being one of the main reasons for this city being the crime capital of the world," Alex waved it off as Powergirl stepped out of the house dressed in civilian clothes.
Bruce's gasping at seeing her drew everyone's attention, "What's with the old guy?" she asked while edging closer to Sam Bruce's eyes following her.
Alex shrugged, "Could be anything from your counterpart in this world being dead or a villain or she left the planet because she got tired of the people making demands of her."
Sam pulled Powergirl to her side while watching Karen sit on Ace like he was a horse, "That or he had her as a lover for a time until his paranoia drove her off."
"Yeah the possibilities are unlimited, but oh well not our concern I didn't even want to spend time in this reality but now that we are here you girls can go shopping for clothes as I go around adding stuff to our list of things to make when we get to the right Earth," Alex said as he patted Ace on the head and lifted Karen from his back.
"Shopping?" Sam asked with a smile.
"Yeah Lois is going to want you to bring back some new clothes designs for the others to copy," Alex told her as he handed Karen to Powergirl.
The girls grinned, "Umm how do we pay for the stuff?" Powergirl asked after a few seconds.
"We only needed to see the stuff for our suits to copy the pattern and I could touch them and I'll be able to make stuff for them to choose from when we visit," Sam said while they began to leave the room from a door leading onto a balcony, ignoring the protest of Bruce.
Alex watched them go with a smile, "Yeah that's not going to work," he told Bruce, "We can make Superman look like a baby," he said while walking to Terry and patting him on the shoulder, "He's a pain in the ass and about as cuddly as a cactus so good luck in the future and don't let his paranoia rub off onto you and you'll do fine."
"Yeah gruffy old man's been trying that already but I got family to keep me balanced," Terry said with a nod.
Alex smiled and then got an almost evil grin spread across his face, "You want to be a Superman?"
"Wh- what?" Terry asked confused about the sudden change in Alex's expression and mood.
Alex grinned even more, "I'm offering you the ability to be like Superman all the powers and none of the weaknesses and I'll throw in a few other people so you won't be the only one."
Terry stepped back, " Yeah that's nice and all but I don't think I can handle that kind of power."
Alex grinned at that before turning away from Terry to face Bruce, "Don't pass on the paranoia you've ruined enough lives," walking away from the two he went to the balcony and flew after the girl's.
Back in the mansion "You pissed of a powerful one didn't you?"
"Apperently I have but he appeared in the cave and was touching the suit, I used the remote protocol and pulled him out of some type of rift then he disappeared only to reappear here and began telling me that I was the reason Gotham is such a crime-filled place."
Terry shrugged while watching Alex flying out of sight, "He's not wrong I've read the history, Batman showing up coincides with the growth of crime, and now the gangs have taken the streets."
Bruce growled but couldn't say anything about that having lived the through it.
Alex caught up to the girls just outside the city, "I'm going to go around the world and see what has changed, this world is about fifty to sixty years beyond the last world but there's no real big change other than clothing and possibly vehicle's but I don't think I'll be copping anything here I only wanted the suit."
Sam nodded while Powergirl just followed them, " Daddy can I go do some supa work?"Karen asked trying to use puppy eyes.
"Not here, we're just going to be here for a short time, plus other than Gotham most of the world is peaceful so stay with mommy and aunty," Alex told the tot while looking anywhere but at her.
Sam and Powergirl could only laugh at his actions to avoid being hit with the kids most powerful weapon.
"It's okay pumpkin we can go around and siteseeing until it's time to move on to the next stop," Sam pointed out as she reached out to pull Karen into a hug.
