FUTURE DESPAIR: THE RETURN OF TRUNKS

Trunks dashed through the burning streets of Pepper town. What was his home town once, is now one of the few remaining places where the human race is making their final stand. As he ran, the hairs on the back of his neck bristled, a primal reaction that screamed of danger lurking just beyond the shadows. Every creak of the distant trash cans and the crackling of flames seemed magnified, intensifying his sense of impending doom. The distance between him and his destination seemed to stretch endlessly, he knew he couldn't outrun what was coming, he couldn't lead it straight to his mother either, he had to get underground, that was his only hope of losing his pursuer. The relentless fear gripped him, pushing him forward with a desperate urgency, as if the darkness itself were closing in on him. Being a saiyan, Trunks could move faster than any normal human could ever dream, but that wasn't fast enough in this situation. He could feel the fiend's energy closing in, he made a silent prayer of thanks to whichever benevolent god that was watching when he finally arrived at the entrance of the subway.

Trunks wasn't a religious guy, but Mai's constant prayers to her hometown gods seemed to have rubbed off on him. But even so, the god they got to meet was neither benevolent nor worth praying to. He darted down the steps with inhuman speed, the enemy would be upon him any minute if he didn't move fast. He focused on reigning in his energy to avoid detection, a trick taught to him by the late Son Gohan. Though the trick was originally meant to blend in with a crowd, Trunks knew that it might buy him a couple more seconds. He used up as much energy as he could without going super saiyan to dash through the underground tunnels, he was sure once he got far enough that the enemy couldn't read his energy, he could be able to rendezvous back to his mom's secret lab. The fact that he could barely feel the evil entity's power meant that he was far enough. He now had to focus on getting to his mom undetected. If all went well, he'd be able to travel back to the past and bring help. And then Black will be the one running for his life.

"What'd you say it's called again?" Gojo asked Whis, staring at the queer delicacy on the plate infront of him which, now that he thought about it, kinda looks like those disgusting frog creatures from Planet Ranathora.

"I believe it is called 'Smocha', or something of the sort. It is a Kenyan delicacy that Bulma discovered on one of her tours around Africa," Whis explained, "Smoked sausage split in the middle and filled with what they call 'kachumbari' which is slang for chopped tomatoes and onions, and then added a little tomato sause and then the whole thing is wrapped around by the Indian bread which they call 'chapati'." he concluded. Gojo stared at the food again, it really didn't give off much of a scent so he couldn't tell whether it was delicious or not, and he wasn't the only one, Lord Beerus also looked wearily at the dish. Vegeta and Goku had both finished theirs.

"Come on you two, don't be a bunch of babies. Have a bite." Goku teased

"Heey! Don't call me a baby, i'm a destroyer damnit! " Beerus yelled at Goku. Gojo decided to have a bite. The first bite was an explosion of flavors, a delightful dance of contrasts that played on the tongue. The smoky, savory essence of the sausage, slightly charred on the edges, provided a rich and hearty base. As the teeth sank deeper, the freshness of the chopped tomatoes and onions burst forth, their juices mingling with the tangy tomato sauce that clung to them like a well-kept secret.

The Indian bread, warm and slightly toasted, enveloped the entire creation with a soft yet satisfying embrace. Its subtle, nutty flavor complemented the boldness of the sausage and the acidity of the tomatoes, creating a perfect harmony. Each chew revealed new layers of taste—the sweetness of the caramelized onions, the spice lingering on the edges of the sausage, and the comforting, earthy undertone of the bread. It was a dish that invited Gojo to savor each bite, to let the flavors meld and swirl, leaving a lingering warmth that beckoned for just one more taste. Gojo's usually composed expression had dissapeared after the first bite and Beerus had noticed, which explained why he immediately followed Gojo's lead and took a bite of his own.

"Whis! You mean to tell me that Bulma knew of this treat and didn't hand some over before?!" he inquired in a high pitched voice.

"There are plenty of delicious food on earth my lord, we couldn't just hoard all of them over here all at once now could we?" Whis countered as he also bit into one, his eyes grew so large that Gojo feared they might burst, "My mistake, we should have known of this sooner." he commented as he proceeded to wolf down the food, moaning in pleasure after each bite.

"So Gojo, how does it feel to finally go blue eeh?" Goku asked, slapping Gojo's back.

"He hasn't gone blue yet you moron, he only unleashed a fraction of it's energy when he knocked you on your ass." Vegeta countered as he grabbed another plate of smocha.

"Yeah, but the only thing left is to transform right? And then start focusing on making the transformation stronger." Goku explained. Gojo remembered how he was able to unlock it, Whis had taken them to a dimension where movement was impossible unless he learned to control his energy more properly, but what was more astonishing about the place was the fact that his infinity didn't work there, with the help of Goku and Vegeta, Gojo had grown even stronger than when he first arrived at the seventh universe. He turned to Goku with a big smile,

"Care for a rematch?" his question made Goku smile in return.

"You're on." he challenged, Vegeta scoffed and started devouring his food. Gojo had mostly sparred with Vegeta over at the other dimension, it was about time Goku had a go as well.

"Alright, are you two ready?" Whis asked. Gojo nodded as he studied Goku doing his light jump warmup. Goku insisted that Gojo uses his infinity in their fight, how the other saiyan thought he would win, Gojo had no idea.

"You done formulating a plan? I hate to say it, but it won't work." Gojo challenged as Goku finished his warmup and adopted a fighting stance.

"We'll see." Son Goku said confidently. Vegeta stood as close to the fight as he was allowed, hands crossed, a permanent scowl etched onto his face, but anyone could see the excitement in his eyes, after Goku, Vegeta wanted to have his turn. Lord Beerus was fishing at the stream, having zero interest in the affair.

"Begin!" Whis shouted and Goku immediately powered up to super saiyan 2.

"Base battle won't cut it, let's start with super saiyan 2 and then work our way up." Goku challenged. Gojo slowly took off his blindfold, revealing the astonishing blue glow of the six eyes.As the transformation begins, the air around the warrior crackles with energy, the ground trembling beneath his feet. A golden aura ignites around his body, intensifying with each passing second, bright and radiant like the sun. His muscles tense, veins standing out as raw power surges through them, pushing them toward the next level of strength.

His hair, already glowing gold from the Super Saiyan form, spikes even more sharply, standing rigidly upright as if electrified by the immense energy coursing through him. It begins to shimmer, almost white at the tips as lightning arcs sporadically around Gojo, crackling in the air with a violent hiss.

Suddenly, a surge of electricity spirals from the ground, encircling his form, snapping and popping with pure force. Gojo's energy skyrockets, pushing the transformation to its peak. Every muscle feels as though it's on fire, yet it's a fire that fuels him, a storm of power that he's harnessed. With one final scream of sheer will, the transformation completes, and the golden aura now crackles with arcs of blue lightning, signaling the leap to Super Saiyan 2.

The white haired warrior stands taller, his power overwhelming and almost tangible in the air. The world seems to bend to his presence, every movement now imbued with a godlike speed and strength. Gojo could see the smile on Goku's face, the smile of a fighter about to have the fight of his life.

Goku had a huge grin as he studied Gojo, the angel like saiyan from the sixth was just something else, his eyes, even in super saiyan 2, was still bright blue instead of the normal green that comes with the transformation. His energy in super saiyan two was already greater than his own, and if Whis was correct, this guy never got tired, well not physically at least, he'll be able to maintain his super saiyan 2 transformation indefinitely, but his infinity is limited, that's one advantage Goku could exploit. Despite his excitement, Goku knew his chances of victory were low, especially now when Gojo has acquired super saiyan blue, but it still wasn't zero, if he played his cards right, Gojo won't know what hit him. The other saiyan still didn't bother putting on a stance, for another fighter, that would mean certain defeat, especially when they're against someone like Goku, but not for Gojo. Goku decided to dance around the edges first, try and confuse the other saiyan, he used instant transmission to teleport around the field appearing and disappearing on multiple spots around Gojo, everytime he appeared, he set down a fraction of his energy which would act as a landmine and explode if stepped on, Gojo stood still, in no hurry to engage. After placing multiple energy land mines, Goku proceeded to fire ki blasts at Gojo, with absolutely zero effect, someone who doesn't know better would say the blasts hit him at point blank range, but Goku knew better, the blast only hit his infinity. Goku decided to use another approach, he danced around the energy land mines, trying to close the distance, it would have been pointless if Gojo could fire some of his own ki blasts but that wasn't his style, not that he couldn't, he wouldn't. He screamed in fury as he unleashed an earth shattering punch at Gojo's face but instead of the other saiyan letting his infinity handle it, he actually lifted his hand to parry and effortlessly unleashed a counter of his own but Goku jumped high up in the air, and clasped his hands together over his head and came down on the other saiyan, incredible hulk style. The impact was massive, Goku realized a microsecond later that he'd missed and that Gojo was standing a distance away from him, just outside of his minefield.

"I can see them you know, the energy landmines you so carefully placed all around," Goku whirled around to face him, "My six eyes can see almost anything, i can see the flow of your ki so precisely that i can predict most of your moves." the other saiyan explained. Goku scoffed,

"Is that so? Guess im gonna have to be unpredictable." he said, adopting his stance again, this time, Gojo's the one who scoffed.

"I won't give you the chance, but i will humor your landmine attempt." he said and in the blink of an eye, he charged straight through the mine field, detonating every energy landmine in his way. Goku barely had a second to block the savage punch meant for his face, his muscles groaned in effort as he was sent flying by the impact, detonating some of his own landmines himself and crashed into the forest. This wasn't gonna be easy.

"Come on Kakarot, you can do better than that, he pulled that punch!" Whis heard Vegeta shout as Goku was sent flying into the trees surrounding the compound. Gojo flew in after him, grabbing Goku by the face and dragging him through the ground, creating a path of destruction. Whis sighed, he never really admired the saiyans' fighting styles, they were too... barbaric, for lack of a better term. His job was trying to teach them to master their ki and transcend to new heights of power but sometimes he wished he could have began with the basics of how to fight properly. He could see debris multiple places inside the forest erupt into the air as the two saiyans clashed, Gojo seemed to obviously have the upper hand. Goku could have requested for this contest to be done without Gojo using his infinity which still would have been a fight to see but knowing Goku, he had to have a trick of his own up his sleeve. Whis just had to hope that Gojo wasn't too reliant on his divine abilities, especially when he hasn't fully mastered it. A massive shockwave was unleashed by an unseen blow and sent Goku spiraling back onto the field from above, the saiyan hit the ground so hard that a crater was formed around him, he then dashed to the side a second before Gojo's fist pounded the ground where his head had been a second before. Whis could almost taste Goku's excitement, the saiyan ripped his already torn clothes from his chest leaving only his trousers intact.

"Alright Gojo, get a load of this!!" he shouted and then proceeded to power up some more, his scream made the ground of the small planet tremble and Whis was sure Lord Beerus would be annoyed if Goku chased the fish he was trying to catch away. The saiyan's energy grew exponentially as his hair also lengthened, his muscles became even bigger and he seemed to grow even taller, his eyebrows dissapeared and the transformation was complete.

"This is super saiyan threeee!!!!!" he shouted. Whis knew Gojo long enough to understand that the sixth universe's saiyan had never embraced that transformation, so he wasn't surprised that Gojo chose to continue the fight in his ssj2 transformation. What did surprise him however, was when he finally adopted a fighting stance similar to Vegeta's. It seemed Vados not only taught him the angel's fighting styles, she also taught him those of saiyans. It was quite befitting, even though Vados made sure the complete truth about the boy's parentage was never uncovered.

Goku gasped for air as sweat trickled from his chin, the fight wasn't going well for him, after all that, Gojo wasn't even breathing hard. He was like Android 18, and despite the fight they've had, Gojo hasn't even used those red and blue blasts on him yet, something told Goku that if he did so, the fight would almost immediately come to an end. Damn it! Gojo came charging at him with incredible speed, Goku knew he needed to go all out and end this ASAP. With an earth-shaking scream, he transcended all the way to super saiyan blue, the divine aura flaring with power as his voice gains a double timbre and he proceeded to strike the ground with his right fist, sending a wave of his blue energy flying in all directions which immediately stopped Gojo's advance. His super saiyan 2 form simply couldn't compete, his infinity was the only reason he was still in the fight.

"Let's go Gojo, show me what you can really do!!" he shouted. Gojo planted his feet on the ground and screamed, charging up his energy until his aura started turning blue. His entire body was covered in a blue cocoon which signified that it was his first time going blue. The cocoon started breaking and his blue aura flared, revealing his transformation, Gojo had finally acquired super saiyan blue. His six eyes flared even brighter than usual, meaning that his infinity was even more powerful now. Goku knew he had to act fast, he used instant transmission and appeared behind Gojo.

"Kaaaameeeehaaameeehaaaaa!!!" he shouted and fired the blast, Gojo turned as the blast hit his infinity, he started walking through the blast, taking no damage whatsoever, suddenly Goku felt a singularity form behind him, he had a split second to release his kamehameha and use instant transmission. He reappeared at a random spot on the field but had no time to react before Gojo landed a blow on his face, his six eyes had become even more potent. Goku dug his feet in the ground and slid back, his feet digging up the ground, his face stung like hell. Gojo came charging again, Goku used instant transmission again but appeared high up in the air this time. Gojo didn't even stop to look for him, he just stopped mid charge and changed directions, heading straight up towards Goku. Raising both his hands to his forehead, Goku concentrated all his energy into creating a massive solar flare.

"Solaarr flaaare!!" he shouted as his body radiated a blinding light so bright that it temporarily blinded Gojo, stopping his advance and also making him release his infinity technique. Just as Goku planned. Acting fast, Goku fired a massive kamehameha towards the other saiyan. Without his infinity, Gojo simply stood no chance, the blast wasn't powerful enough to kill him, but it knocked him unconscious, using instant transmission again, Goku caught the unconscious saiyan before he hit the ground. He watched as Gojo's hair reverted back to white. Whis and Vegeta walked towards them, Lord Beerus also seemed to have given up fishing and joined them.

"Well done Goku. Quite surprising that you're the one who came out on top." Whis congratulated him. Vegeta had an even deeper scowl than usual.

"Wake him up Whis, before Vados finds out about this." Beerus said wearily. Whist waved his staff and Gojo immediately got up, gasping for air.

"What the hell happened?!" he asked. Vegeta scoffed at him.

"You lost. You didn't use any long range attacks, that was stupid of you. Don't you dare hold back those attacks when fighting me." Vegeta criticized. Goku chuckled. Gojo slowly got up as Vegeta handed him a senzu bean.

"Be prepared, because i'm up next." Vegeta said. Whis staff suddenly began glowing.

"Ooh! It's Bulma." he said as a hologram appeared from his staff, showing Bulma, dressed in her lab clothes.

"Is Vegeta there?" she asked.

"What is it?" Vegeta asked, Goku noticed that Bulma seemed tense, something was up.

"You need to get over here now. It's Trunks, he's back." she explained. It took a moment for Goku to understand. Future Trunks was back.

Hi guys, sorry for the late update, enjoy.
