Episode 2: Leonidas
-Park, Wardington, Earth-
At Wardington Park, Jay was walking around as he thought about his plans for tomorrow.
Jay: The Bakugan Battle Tournament will start tomorrow. I will face many tough opponents there, more than Shuji ever was.
He remembered yesterday's battle. How his Serpenoid and Siege defeated Shuji's Gargonoid and Fear Ripper.
Jay: But some of them must have rare and powerful Bakugan with them. I wish I had one too.
Jay remembered what his friends told him last night
-Flashback-
Aria: Don't worry, Jay. I know you will find your partner Bakugan one day.
Sophie: Just don't rush it.
Arata: I bet your Bakugan will be one cool looking dude!
-End of Flashback-
Jay just sighed at the memory.
Jay: I know they said that I shouldn't rush it… But almost everyone has a talking Bakugan as a partner. (Sighs)… I wish mine would appear now.
As if his wish was heard, something strange was happening to the sky.
Jay: Huh? What 's going on?
Before he knew it, a bright light appeared and he had to cover his eyes. Coming out of the light was a Bakugan in ball form that bounced on the floor and landed near his feet. The light subsided after that.
Jay: What?
Jay picked it up as he looked closely at it. He can tell by the color that it's a Pyrus Bakugan.
Jay: A Bakugan? But I've never seen one like this before.
Suddenly, the sphere opened up to show that the Bakugan is Dragon-like in appearance. His green eyes curiously looked around at this unfamiliar world.
?: Where am I?
Jay was surprised at those words. This Bakugan must have come the same way the other Bakugan did. At least that's what he believes.
Jay: Um… Planet Earth?
?: So… Not in Vestroia then?
Jay: Who… Who are you?
The Bakugan hesitated, wondering if he should tell this Human his name.
Leonidas: My name is Leonidas.
After a while, Jay and Leonidas sat near the fountain as the Human told a Bakugan some things about Vestroia, which surprised Leonidas.
Leonidas: Vestroia is on the brink of collapse?
Jay: Yeah, that is what we were told. How you didn't know about this? Didn't you come from Vestroia?
Leonidas only remained silent about this.
Jay: Okay, you don't tell me. But for me, I have to tell how Vestroia ended up as it is.
Jay then began explaining the situation in the world of the Bakugan.
-Flashback-
The Universe of Vestroia was shown with its Six galaxies made of different elements.
Jay: From what I've heard, Vestroia is a Universe made of six worlds that has its own element.
Jay: The element of earth, Subterra.
A land of brown earth where land Turtles and towering giants walk around.
Jay: Haos. A world made of light.
A shining bright world, where warriors in white armor live.
Jay: Darkus. A dark world.
A place of swirling purple and blackness as a terrifying serpentine creature attacked.
Jay: The world of water, Aquos.
This place has water and pillars of ice as the eye can see, with the shadowy figure of a reptilian man standing on one of them.
Jay: The wind element, Ventus.
Multiple tornados filled this world, which isn't trouble for strong fliers as a gigantic bird passed through one.
Jay: And the fire element, Pyrus.
An unbelievable world with flames all around, perfect for burning passionate warriors as a red Dragon roared as it appeared through the flames.
Jay: And in the center of Vestroia are two cores that keep that world in balance. The Infinity Core and the Silent Core.
At the center of Vestroia were two glowing cores. One was releasing light while the other absorbed it.
Jay: Then one day, a white Bakugan called Naga tried to take control of the two cores so he could gain great power. Yet he failed in his first attempt.
Flying through the Pyrus realm was the white Bakugan Naga as he attempted to fly towards the center of Vestroia, but that failed as he was suddenly stopped by a barrier.
Jay: But that's not the only thing that happened. The Silent Core released a lot of negative energy that affected the minds of some Bakugan, but that's not all. All those affected Bakugan ended up in our world through the cards that fell from the skies.
The Silent Core released a wave of negative energy around Vestroia that affected the minds of Bakugan. Those Bakugan then came to planet Earth inside cards that fell from the sky.
Jay: We all believed that the cards were all just some game. We were seriously wrong.
The cards opened up and released the Bakugan ball form from inside. A Haos Falconeer and Subterra materialized and started fighting one another.
Jay: But then, Naga was able to somehow cross the barrier and had the two cores in reach.
Through a Dimensional Gate, Naga was able to enter the space where the two cores are as he floated closer towards the Silent Core.
Jay: But this caused the release of another wave of negative energy, even greater than last time. A huge number of Bakugan became frenzied as the dimensions started to fall apart.
The wave of negative energy spread again as it caused some Bakugan to go berserk and started attacking the ones that aren't. One Darkus Fear Ripper passed through the broken dimensional barrier as he attacked the red Dragon Bakugan.
Jay: After that, a gate to our world was opened again, and many Bakugan chose the opportunity to escape their dying home.
A large Dimension Gate has opened in the sky. And many Bakugan, including ones that look like a Fox, Crocodile, Velociraptor, and a hybrid between two birds, went towards the gate to escape their ruined home.
-End of Flashback-
Jay: And that's how it happened. By now Vestroia must be a big mess now.
Leonidas was silent as he processed everything the Human told him.
Leonidas: So is that why I am here?
Jay: That's pretty much it. So, what are you going to do now that you're here?
The Dragon Bakugan thought deeply about that.
Leonidas: Mmm…
Jay then had a thought that excited him.
Jay: Hey! I have an idea! Why don't you partner up with me?
That took Leonidas aback.
Leonidas: Partner with you?
Jay: Yeah! There's a big Bakugan Tournament going around! And I bet that together we can beat anyone!
That caught Leonidas' interest.
Leonidas: If I battle with you I'll have the chance to defeat other Bakugan?
Jay: Yeah! We'll beat them all!
Before Leonidas could respond back, someone intruded in their conversation.
?: I found you!
Hearing that voice, Jay turned around and saw Akira standing in front of him.
Jay: Akira?
Akira: That's right, kid! I'm here to take you down because you defeated Shuji! Come on! Let 's battle!
Akira raised up a Gate card. Jay knew this was a perfect opportunity to show Leonidas how Bakugan battles work as he picked the Bakugan and took out his Gate card.
Jay: You're timing couldn't be perfect Akira!
Both raised their cards as they started to glow and shouted.
Jay/Akira: Field! Open!
The world around them started to slow down as they were transported to another world.
-Battle Dimension-
At the Battle Dimension, Jay and Akira were standing at a far distance while Leonidas looked around the white space.
Leonidas: Mmm… I can feel my power surging here.
Jay: You haven't seen anything yet!
Jay then brought out his Gate Card and so did Akira.
Jay/Akira: Gate Card, set!
Both cards landed on the ground and glowed in the Brawlers respective colors. Red for Jay and brown for Akira.
Akira: My turn first! Bakugan, Brawl!
Akira threw his Bakugan at his own Gate Card, which opened once it landed and was engulfed in a brown light. Rising from the light was a brown Serpenoid.
Subterra Serpenoid(320Gs)
The Serpenoid hissed down at Jay, but the boy wasn't afraid as he threw in his Bakugan.
Jay: Bakugan, Brawl! Bakugan stand!
Jay's Bakugan landed near Serpenoid and opened up and glowed.
Jay: Pyrus Siege!
Rising from the red light was Siege as he was ready to fight.
Pyrus Siege(400Gs)
Leonidas: Grrrrr…
Leonidas growled once his eyes set sight on the two Bakugan, but Jay didn't notice it.
Akira: Gate Card, open!
The whole white field turned into a rocky field thanks to the power of Akira's Gate Card, which also increased his Serpenoids power.
Subterra Serpenoid(320+100=420Gs)
Akira: Sick him, Serpenoid!
The Snake Bakugan hissed when he received the power boost, but Jay had a card to counter that.
Jay: Ability card activate! Fire Sword!
Pyrus Siege(400+100=500gs)
Siege's lance turned into a flaming sword. Just as Serpenoid went to strike him, Siege slashed with his sword. With a loud hiss, Serpenoid turned back to ball form and landed on Akira's feet, to the boy's surprise. Siege then returned back to Jay's hand.

Jay: I don't like taunting… but your brother put up a better fight than that.
Snapping out of his stupor, Akira glared at Jay.
Akira: Don't get cocky, kid! After seeing how you fight, I picked up a few things to defeat you! Trust me, this was just a warm up!
Jay: Bring it on then!
Leonidas remained silent as he thought of what he just witnessed.
Leonidas: (So this is Bakugan Battles.)
Akira Gate Card, set! Bakugan Brawl!
Akira threw out another Gate Card and sent his next Bakugan on it. Rising out of the brown was a terrifying Sandworm Bakugan with a mouth filled with teeth.
Akira: Rise, Wormquake!
Subterra Wormquake(400Gs)
Jay: Now that's one scary looking Bakugan. Luckily, I have a Bakugan that doesn't show fear! Bakugan Brawl!
Jay threw in his next Bakugan at his Gate Card, revealing it to be Laserman.
Jay: Bakugan, stand! It's your turn, Pyrus Laserman!
The robotic Bakugan rose up as it stood ready to fire.
Jay: Ability card, activate! Leap Sting!
Laserman aimed its shoulder cannons at Wormquake as it lost some power.
Wormquake(400-50=350Gs)
Akira: I don't think so! Gate Card, open!
It was another Attribute card that changed the field to earth again and increased Wormquake's power.
Subterra Wormquake(350+80=430Gs)
Wormquake dug underground and avoided the lasers.
Jay: It dodged it!?
Akira: And that's not all! Ability card, activate! Sandtrap!
Suddenly, the field beneath Laserman turned into a sandpit and the Bakugan started sinking
Pyrus Laserman(400-50=350Gs)
Jay: What's happening?!
Akira: Sandtrap not only subtracts 50Gs from your Bakugan, but it also allows Wormquake to attack anywhere on the field!
Jay: Anywhere?!
Suddenly, Wormquake rose from the sandpit and swallowed Laserman whole.
Jay: Laserman!
Wormquake went back to Akira, but not before raising its tail that has a smaller mouth on it, and spit Laserman's ball form at Jay's feet.

Jay picked up Laserman as he thought about what happened.
Jay: Now that was unexpected… and disturbing…
Akira: (Laughs)... Unlike my bro, I'm ready for you!
Jay took out Siege's ball form again as he was ready to make his next move.
Jay: Bakugan, Brawl! I need you again, Siege!
Siege landed on Jay's Gate Card as he turned into his true form.
Pyrus Siege(400Gs)
Akira: Gate Card set!
Akira threw another Gate Card before throwing Wormquake at Siege's field.
Akira: Bakugan, Brawl! Bakugan stand!
Wormquake turned into its true form as it towered over Siege.
Subterra Wormquake(400Gs)
Jay: I think it's time I use this! Gate Card, open! Final Judgement!
The Gate Card that Jay activated was a judgement card and drained all of Wormquake's power.
Akira: Oh no! Wormquake!
Subterra Wormquake(0Gs)
Jay: Final Judgement turns my opponents power to zero! Now go, Siege!
Siege then went on the attack to defeat Wormquake, but then…
Akira: Ability Card, activate! Spirit Canyon!
Siege suddenly stopped as he began to lose power. Jay checked Siege's power on his Bakupad and was shocked by what he saw.
Pyrus Siege(0Gs)
Jay: What's going on?!
Akira: What's going on? Spirit Canyon can copy the abilities of any Gate Card that is currently in use!
Wormquake then lunged at Siege, but the warrior brought up his spear as Wormquake crashed on him. Both two Bakugan turned into their ball forms as they landed on their owners feet.

Jay picked up his defeated Bakugan, but that's when Leonidas stepped in.
Leonidas: Human, send me into the field!
Jay was surprised at Leonidas' outburst.
Leonidas: Now that I know that this place can release my power, I want you to throw me in so I can fight those Bakugan!
Hearing that brought a smile to Jay's face.
Jay: Alright then! Gate Card, set!
Jay threw in another Gate Card. He then grabbed Leonidas and then threw him at his Gate Card on the field.
Jay: Bakugan, Brawl! Bakugan Stand!
After landing on Jay's Gate Card, Leonidas was not just engulfed in red light but also in flames as well. And coming out of the flames was his real form.
Leonidas looks like a near humanoid Dragon. Like all Pyrus Bakugan he has red scales and a dark red underside that goes down starting from his neck towards the end of his tail, which has a golden spear tip. He also has three golden claws at each of his limbs, and on his head is a golden horn that curved forward. He also has two tiny horns on each side of his head and green eyes. He has golden wings with red membrane.
Leonidas: RRRROOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAARRR!
Akira: What the?!
Akira became terrified at seeing this never before seen Bakugan.
Pyrus Leonidas(450Gs)
Akira and Jay couldn't believe this power level.
Akira: Oh man! I can't believe his power levels are so high!
Jay: Leonidas, you're incredible!
Leonidas glared at Akira, scaring the boy as he stepped back.
Akira: H-He doesn't scare me! Bakugan, Brawl! Centipoid stand!
The Bakugan that Akira threw next was a giant dark brown Centipede Bakugan.
Subterra Centipoid(400Gs)
Leonidas glared hard at the Bakugan that appeared before him.
Leonidas: Grrrr…
Despite being taller than him, Centipoid became clearly afraid of Leonidas as he stepped back.
Akira: Don't be afraid, Centipoid! Ability Card, activate! Attractor! Now, your Bakugan can come to my field!
Leonidas didn't hesitate as he flew towards Centipoid's location. The Centipede Bakugan was freaking at Leonidas coming at him.
Jay: Leonidas, wait!
Jay can already guess that it's a trap, but Leonidas didn't listen as he crashed on Centipoid, which is exactly what Akira was planning.
Akira: Now Gate Card, open! Subterra Hazard!
Jay was surprised to hear that as he saw Leonidas' skin change color. The golden parts of his body became yellow, red turned to brown, and his underside became dark brown.
Leonidas: Huh?! What's happening to me?!
Akira: Now he can't use his Pyrus abilities!
Leonidas: Doesn't matter! I will still crush that Bakugan!
However, Akira pulled out an Ability Card with those words.
Akira: Ability Card, activate! Pincer Attack!
Subterra Centipoid(400+100=500Gs)
With the new power and advantage, Centipoid was no longer afraid of Leonidas as he wrapped around him before attacking with his Pincers. Leonidas grabbed them as he tried to keep it away from reaching him.
Leonidas: Grrr!
Jay: There must be something that I could do! But all of Leonidas' abilities are sealed since he's changed into Subterra!... Huh?
Jay then noticed something glowing in his pocket. Meanwhile, Akira was laughing his pants off.
Akira: Hahaha! Looks like I win!
Jay: Don't bet on it!
Akira stopped laughing as he saw that Jay was holding an Ability Card.
Jay: You may have sealed all his Pyrus Abilities. But this one here isn't connected to any Attribute!
Akira: No way! You're bluffing!
Jay: I'll show ya! Ability Card, activate! Alpha Blaster!
Suddenly, Leonidas' body was covered in white light as his power increased. This also made Centipoid to let him go as he put a distance between them.
Pyrus Leonidas(450+200=600Gs)
Leonidas gathered white energy inside his jaw and released a powerful beam that engulfed Centipoid. It turned back into his ball form as it fell near Akira in a smoking heap.
Leonidas: RRRRROOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAARRR!
The Dragon Bakugan let out a bellowing roar as Jay looked at him in awe.
-Park, Wardington, Earth-
Time was moving again as the two kids came back to the Real World. Akira was currently upset about his loss.
Akira: I'll get you next time for this, kid! Don't you forget it!
And with that, Akira turned around and left Jay and Leonidas alone. The boy then turned towards Leonidas as he held the Bakugan in his hand.
Leonidas: You were awesome, Leonidas! I can't believe how strong you are!
Leonidas: That still isn't the extent of my full power!
Jay: I can't wait to see it. By the way, my name is Jayden, but you can call me Jay for short!
Leonidas: Jay…
Jay: Yep! Glad to have you on board, partner!
-Jay's Apartment, Wardington, Earth-
It was nighttime as Jay was chatting on the web with his friends, as well as introducing them to Leonidas.
Aria: A new Bakugan came to our world? Really?
Arata: But there hasn't been any reports of new Bakugan coming here on the web.
Sophie: What do you make of this, Cygnia?
Cygnia: It could be that a random portal may have just opened up, but even I am not so sure.
Sam: Could you show Leonidas to us, Jay?
Jay: Sure.
Jay picked up Leonidas and introduced him to the others on the screen.
Jay: This is Leonidas. Leonidas, meet Aria, Arata, Sam, and Sophie. As well as their Bakugan Kyubis, Sebek, Raptorix, and Cygnia.
The others began introducing themselves to Leonidas.
Aria: Hi there, Leonidas!
Kyubis: Nice to meet you.
Arata: A Dragon Bakugan, wow!
Sebek: Hmph! He doesn't look so tough!
Sam: That is one interesting Bakugan!
Swiftor: You're right! I don't think I've seen someone like him before.
Sophie: So this is the Bakugan that has that none Attribute card?
Cygnia: I've never heard any Bakugan using a power that isn't part of the six Attributes.
Jay: That caught me by surprise as well. Say hello to them, Leonidas.
Leonidas, however, turned away from the screen.
Leonidas: Hmph!
Sam: Not very talkative is he?
Jay: I think it will take time to get used to Humans. Anyway, I can't wait for the tournament to start!
Aria: We will be competing as well, although it may take a while for us to face each other.
Arata: Well I can't wait to brawl with you, Jay! And I'm sure Sebek is interested in fighting Leonidas as well!
Sebek: You know me very well.
Jay: Alright, see you until the tournament then.
With everyone saying their goodbyes, Jay turned off his computer as he prepared himself for bed, while Leonidas was near the window that was near the bed.
Jay: Tomorrow will be a big day, Leonidas. It will be very fun facing all new opponents. Well, time to go to sleep! Goodnight, Leonidas.
With that, Jay went to sleep. Leonidas just stayed looking at him before turning around and looked at the stars through the window. He then started talking to himself.
Leonidas: I don't like staying with this Human, but being with him is the only way to unleash my power. One way or another, the Bakugan will feel my wrath!
-Preview-
Jay: Next on Bakugan Battle Brawlers L! Leonidas and I have finally entered the Bakugan Battle Tournament. But competing in the brackets are two of the Battle Brawlers, Runo and Marucho. I'll be facing Runo and Tigrerra, but I know that we can win this!
I know that Pincer Attack didn't appear in the anime, but Mantris had an ability that made him attack with his scythes so I made this ability up.
By the way, can someone tell me where I can read the Bakugan Battle Brawlers Evo Tournament manga? I wanted to read it but couldn't find it.
