"Perry the Platypus!"
"Yes! Oh, yes! Oh, yes!" exclaimed Phineas. "Perry just won us a $500,000 Cash Prize!"
While Perry was presented with his medal and half million dollar check, Linda carried out credit, herself. "Perry, I never thought you could win it all for us. Yet, here we are."
The announcements continued. "The contestant departing from our first round of whitewater tubing is Pinch."
Pinch felt just a little disappointed. "I might not have won anything," she confided in Peanut. "but I'm not sure I could handle tomorrow's air racing competition."
"Don't worry, Pinch," comforted Peanut. "I'm sure Flick and I will both do well in it tomorrow."
The announcements continued. "All remaining contestants, into the vans. All remaining contestants, into the vans. We'll be shuttling you upstream again for our next round of whitewater tubing."
The remaining contestants piled into all three vans with their tubes and were driven upstream again, right back to the very starting line, and most were still confident. They all lined up on either side of the creek as before. Another blank round went off. And the second round was underway. Don Karnage knew he didn't have a strong enough tail to use for paddling, so he used his hands for it and successfully pulled into third place. "No competitor is getting me eliminated that easy."
Peanut did paddling with his stellar swimming feet and almost forgot about the slopes ahead. He went over with a hefty scream and took precious seconds to bob back up to the playing field. Flick was equally motivated and paddled with his webbed feet for dear life, just not wanting to get eliminated all this soon. Minutes later, everyone crossed the finish line. And the announcements continued. "And we have a second gold medal winner for our day of whitewater tubing. Flick Duck."
"Yes! Oh, yes! Oh, yes!" cried Flick. "This makes me a zooathlon champion!" And Flick received another gold medal and another half million dollar check with pride. The big day of whitewater tubing went on. The third gold medal winner was Megavolt. The third contestant eliminated was Pumba. The fourth gold medal winner was Mayor Lionheart. The fourth one out was an OWCA Agent. The fifth gold medal winner was Nick Wilde. And the fifth one out was another OWCA Agent.
At the end of the day, the announcements continued. "Tomorrow, comes five rounds of air racing, at the Danville Air Strip, starting at 7:30 am. That's the Danville Airstrip, at 7:30 am."
Don Karnage flew home to the hotel with Isaac and Megavolt in tow and was totally impressed. "I have to say. You did an excellent job today."
"And so did you," said Megavolt with a smile. "With that big, heavy battery on my back and my usual electrical current flowing through, water is my weakness. But without all that, rats like me are expert swimmers."
"And you have at least a couple things on your side tomorrow," added Karnage. "You've received flight instruction from both me and Ace London."
Megavolt carried out encouragement of his own. "Yes, I know. Tomorrow is just what you've been waiting for, because it's just what you do best."
"Right, you are," answered Don Karnage. "so I'm gonna show everyone just who's boss."
The next morning, Don Karnage, Isaac, and Megavolt got up at the very break of dawn, freshened up, and indulged in a nutritious breakfast before taking off for the air strip. And Megavolt was totally supportive. "I just can't wait to see you set a stellar time out there today."
Don Karnage landed his helicopter at the air strip, 20 minutes early, well out of the way for safety. Minutes later, the rest of the competitors arrived. And along came more announcements. "Attention all contestants. Attention all contestants. Today is Air Racing Day, and you'll all be flying through an aerial obstacle course. If a gate is flashing green, you're supposed to fly through it sideways on your right hand side. If a gate is flashing red, you're supposed to fly through it sideways on your left hand side. And if a gate is flashing blue, you're supposed to fly through it right side up. The idea is to set the fastest elapsed time. To make sure this challenge is fair, you'll all be flying the same plane – a fully restored Spitfire. And in case of an accident, we have three extras. Flick, the first turn is yours."
Flick was handed the key and was totally motivated. "My. Oh, my. Go karts in the sky." So he took the controls of the plane, took aim, and when the green flag was waved on him, he gave it full throttle, making a dash for it. Seconds later, he was airborne and saw the first gate flashing red, so he tilted the plane onto its left hand side to fly through it at speed and tackled it straight and true. He leveled out the plane to see the next gate off to his right, flashing blue and used his rudder and ailerons to steer towards it while maintaining his right side up position. "Take that, Perry the Platypus!"
While Flick was focused, the Flynns and Fletchers were rather preoccupied. "I just hope Perry doesn't get killed out there today," said Linda.
Candace had a different standpoint. "It'll, at least, keep him out of my room for good."
"Candace," Phineas appealed. "You know how Ducky Momo brings you a lot of charm?"
"He sure does," said Candace with a smile.
"That's just what Perry does for me and Ferb," Phineas continued.
"Perry is not the same as Ducky Momo," asserted Candace. "He's much nastier and higher maintenance."
"A fair point, Candace," Don Karnage cut in. "but what about saving the red wolf."
Phineas had some interest in that matter. "Ferb and I will think of something to address that."
Ferb shook his head, yes.
Flick crossed the finish line and landed the plane, and the next announcements came along. "Flick Duck's official elapsed time was 3:16.4, and the next one up is Don Karnage."
The plane was refueled. Don Karnage made his way up, took the controls, fired up the plane, and had his head well in the game. "Surrender, Perry the Platypus, because I, the expert pilot, Don Karnage, shall get you good on our big air racing portion." So he took aim, on the runway, for the first checkpoint, and the bright green flag was waved to signal him.
