A few days later Peter in the morning had gotten ready for school and went to his aunt and uncle who were still watching the news on the TV; "before I go... I just wanted to give you this... I had been doing some odd jobs after school and... I heard you both saying you had been having money problems..." Peter told them handing over an envelope where he was keeping all the money that he had been earning from the afternoon doing the street performances as Spider-Man.
May and Ben looked surprised as they looked through all the notes and coins in it; "Peter; we can't take this..." May told him passing the envelope back to him but Peter pushed it back to her.
"I insist and I mean you both have done a lot for me... Taking me in... Taking care of me and I hate to think about if you were both struggling..." Peter replied as Ben got up and took him aside.
"Peter... It is our responsibility to look after you... It's not yours to look after us... We will find a way to manage... With all that the health service is going through... We are looking into it but you're not an adult yet Peter... You don't need to be thinking of the bills just yet... We don't expect you to..." Ben told him softly as Peter sighed.
"Just wanted to help... I thought with my... Gifts... I should help you out..." Peter said as Ben sighed.
"Peter... You're a gifted kid who is going to change the world; no matter what you do... But you just focus on your path and what it brings you but just remember to be the good man that I know that you are destined to be. I don't want you on the road to consider dropping out of school to finding a full time job for us... Let us fix the money problems..." Ben then said as Peter took this in.
"So are you going to find a new job?" Peter asked as Ben sighed shaking his head.
"Not going to let the Mayor's budget cuts keep us down. I am staying as a paramedic and so if your aunt staying a nurse. Someone has to look out for the little guy because the big guys up there... They don't care about us... They don't know or forgot and just don't care about what it's like to feel powerless... I remember taking a health class in high school and learned how to do CPR... Someone on my street fell to a careless accident and no one thought that the ambulances would come in time so... I took what I knew and I sustained the man until help did come... Helping someone out when you can just feels right and it felt like my responsibility." Ben then told him as Peter took it in and smiled.
"Eddie said that people like me aren't meant to be heroes and it should be someone else's problem..." Peter said as Ben got Peter's backpack to give to him and then directed him to the door.
"Just go on to school while I wonder why exactly I let you hang out with that boy..." Ben told him and Peter then waved them both goodbye.
It was at school during lunch time in the cafeteria and Mary Jane was sitting herself next to Peter as they began eating their lunch. Then came Eddie looking annoyed as he showed Peter his phone on YouTube; "Can you believe it bro... I saw this video that someone captured of this street clown and it's getting not bad views... This can get trending and could be a news story..." Eddie told him and Peter looked and blinked to see that it was a performance as Spider-Man with him showing off climbing up one side of the alley.
"I think it looks cool..." Mary Jane said with a smile as Peter felt flattered by the compliment.
"Some clown with his hocus pocus tricks has the potential to be a story but nothing I try to bring out gets much attraction..." Eddie said as Peter gave him a wide eye as things were cooling down ever since the incident at the lab.
"How many retractions have you made on your blog again Eddie?" Peter asked as Eddie gave him an unamused glare.
"Well if you can to capitalise and try to be a reporter then... Why not try tracking down this guy and ask for an interview?" Mary Jane suggested as Eddie seemed to be taking in the idea as Peter looked startled but composed himself as he got looks from them. Why not and help his friend out in a little way?
It was later in the day inside a car there was Carradine looking out of the window bored as he was playing passenger to a coworker of his at the warehouse. "You know... We still got plenty of time before we start the shift at the place... Why not go for some quick robberies?" Carradine asked the driver who looked annoyed.
"And bring the heat upon us and possibly bring the cops to the warehouse as they try to track us down? Plus in the daytime?" the driver asked looking at Carradine with a glare as Carradine was grinning while showing off a ski mask.
"Come on... We have these for a reason... Some quick losers in an alley in a few stops... We will be done before anyone can get enough information to make a report..." Carradine insisted as the driver sighed.
"I am putting the pedal on the instant that I hear sirens or see a uniform..." warned the driver as Carradine grinned.
It was after school and Peter was in his usual spot performing as Spider-Man with a crowd there and then pushing himself through was Eddie with his phone. "Excuse me... Spider-Man... You think that I can get a word please... I'm Eddie and I run a news blog..." Eddie asked as Peter then gave a casual pose as he faced Eddie.
"Anything to get the word out..." Peter then replied as Eddie came closer.
"So... Can I ask who you are behind that mask?" Eddie asked as Peter stood straight at that but shook his head. "Okay... Can I ask where you learned to do all these flips and wall climbing and the fake web there?" Eddie asked as Peter then gave a laugh.
"Can't let everyone know my secrets there..." Peter said as Eddie couldn't know that it was because of him that it had happened. In the crowd coming to watch was a certain paramedic having parked his ambulance there with his partner in the driver's seat. However another car came parked up and out came Carradine with his gun and wearing a ski mask.
He shoved his way through the crowd and got out his gun to point it at Peter with his weird feeling in his head going off. "Hand over the money right now you circus reject!" Carradine ordered as Eddie instantly put his hands up and was judged by Eddie using his shoulder so he slowly did so causing the crowd to scatter in a panic.
"Come on... Take the money in the box... We won't give you any trouble..." Eddie then said as Peter frowned wondering if he shoulder fight back but then felt nudged by Eddie and ended up nodding along feeling the fear of a gun at looked at the box and felt unsatisfied by the amount in the box so he ended up demanding that people hand over their wallets as he started aiming at people running to stop them. Some quickly did so and Peter felt like he should do something with this guy deciding to rob these went forward but Eddie nudged him again and whispered "man... Just let him take the wallets and walk away... Don't try to be a hero..." Eddie told Peter and he reluctantly did so but he recognised a certain man coming up to the man bravely.
"Put those back right now..." Ben ordered without fear grabbing at the gun as Carradine panicked and then ended up firing at Ben's waist and then Ben went to lunge at him while crying in pain and Carradine panicked as he fired some more.
Carradine ran to his car as Peter yelled at Ben and went to check on him; "Come on... You can't leave... You can't... Stay... Come on..." Peter pleaded with Ben feeling life leaving his uncle as tears were coming from his eyes but then Ben's life left him and Peter was in shock...
Why didn't he try anything sooner?
Grief quickly turned to anger as he found the guy running to his car and telling the driver to get a step on it. The car tried running but Peter ran after them and then started running after the car. Eddie had found himself and saw the chase and started running with his phone out to take the footage. Carradine noticed Peter giving chase and looked incredulous as he drew his gun again and got the window down. He started firing at Peter who ended up jumping the bullets being shot while managing to keep up at an amazing speed while walking around the cars trying to dodge the runner on the road and the gunshots.
Peter felt his weird feeling in his head guiding him away from the danger; so an extra sense it was... Peter then then and leaped right onto the car as Carradine found to his shock that he ran out of bullets. The guys in the car jumped as they felt the impact on the hood as Peter then punched and smashed through the window and grabbed at Carradine and took his mask so Peter could see his terrified face. The driver then shot at Peter's direction forcing him to jump and Carradine then quickly undid his seatbelt and then managed to run out of the car door and running away. Peter noticed but ended up having to dodge the gunfire from the driver who put his ski mask on. Peter then saw Carradine had gotten away and then pulled the driver out. There were police sirens and Peter put the driver screaming over his shoulder as he then ran and then started climbing up the building.
"What the hell... How did you do that... How did we get up here..." the driver asked Peter picked him up by the collar furiously.
"Your partner... The murderer... Where can I find him?" Peter demanded as the man look indigniant.
"You kidnap me dressed in that and you make demands..." the driver retorted as Peter then went to the edge of the rooftop and was hanging the driver right over with him seeing the distance below him. "Listen... You can't... Do you know what you are dealing with?" the driver asked as Peter made it look like he was about to let go. "Listen... I can't say a word... Do you know who we work for... The Big Man... He runs this city..." the driver said despierately as Peter got close in his face thinking of what Jameson told him.
To make sure that he wasn't going to be bullied by this criminal and accomplice to a murderer.
"Do I look like i care about some big man? Tell me where to find your partner or we will see if you can sprout wings!" Peter demanded in his anger as the driver cried.
"Okay... We are supposed to be standing guard of this abandoned warehouse... Not far away... It's the one that got the graffiti on the walls... We are looking over this new drug about to be on the market... Not made anywhere else..." the driver then explained terrified as Peter looked disgusted at this as police cars came up and Peter then put the driver down on the rooftop and then made a big leap forward.
Coming down with some police officers looking up with megaphones as well as some passerbys with phones out. Peter thought to his 'web-shooters' as he was calling them with freshly stacked cartridges before he left. Thinking of a crazy idea; he then put his arm forward and shot out a web that he used to swing and propel himself forward. He felt the adrenaline in him but he focused on getting to the warehouse.
Get justice on a murderer and while he is at it; stop a drug ring in his city.
"Who the hell is this guy..." Eddie asked stunned along with everyone else as he just kept filming what had happened even if he didn't get a good view of when Peter took the driver up to the rooftop.
So yes listening to Eddie helped got Uncle Ben killed in here. I am going to say that making Jameson also Peter's guidance counsellor as well as running the paper and still being principal was a slight reference to Mr Barkin in Kim Possible; a running gag being that he taught almost every class that Kim, Ron and their classmates were in with some excuse giving to what happened to their usual teacher. Plus I was going to have Jameson ask Flash when giving his threats asking if he looked like some sort of lancer; Mr Lancer the jerk teacher in Danny Phantom who legit punished Danny and his friends for something the star football player Dash (guess who he was based on) and directly saying that his success on the field grants him a pass for starting the incident that he punished these 3 less popular students for.
