3rd Person POV

~Memory Begins~

All was calm before the bombing started. To Sanura and Lillian (Lilly) Longsworth this was all too normal (though it never should have been). The girls were trying to follow the example of their cousins Mckenzie and Hermione Evans and sleep while they still could. However, sleep seemed a million miles away.

So, after failing to fall asleep Sanura whispers, "Lilly are you awake?"

"Yeah, I am. Should we go ahead and get ready sister?" came the reply.

"Yes, though, do so quietly. There is no need to disturb their slumber just yet."

So, the two girls did just that. They dressed in identical clothing apart from the colors. Lilly wore an ocean blue while Sanura chose a deep fire red. Strange colors for wartime, but these clothes were from a time before the rationing started. Modest white tops with knee length skirts in their respective colors. Once dressed they began to prepare for another night in the bomb shelter.

"Flashlight, light blanket, book…" Lilly muttered under her breath, as usual trying not to forget anything important just incase.

"Try not to worry sister, all will be well," came the whispered response.

"I know, but there is no certainty in times such as these."

The only response was a sigh from Sanura, and a grunt from a sleeping Hermione.

~An hour passes~

"We best wake them; I doubt it shall be much longer." Sanura finally decided after what seemed to be an age of waiting, however, was really just an hour.

Lilly just sighed but did start to try and wake Hermione allowing her twin to wake McKenzie. Once the two were dressed (they matched their cousins, however, McKenzie had a deep black skirt and Hermione a bright yellow) and had gathered their own bags just as the siren alerting everyone of the incoming air raid sounded.

Hermione was about to speak when Cara, the twins' younger sister, burst into the room shouting for them to hurry.

"Well then, let us not tarry here any longer." Sanura said before leading the way downstairs.

~In the bomb shelter ~

"What is taking them so long? We cannot keep the door open much longer." Hermione worryingly asked.

Just at that moment Sanura slammed the door shut, and within seconds the entire shelter shook with a great force. There was a somber silence, there was no doubt that the bomb had hit the home they had left mere minutes before.

Sanura's POV

~King's Cross Station~

We head to our grandfather's home today. Many say this is merely because all children are being sent away to the country for their safety. Of course, this is only a part of why we are going to our grandfather's, but in reality, he is our closest surviving family. No one just wants to admit this, but how they can continually deny the deaths of my mother and youngest sister as well as that of our aunt (our mother's twin) and her youngest child (a boy of 1 year), I will never understand.

But regardless, here we are at King's Cross waiting for our godmother to pin our identification labels to our shirts. Completely unnecessary if you ask me, we have always gone to stay with our grandfather during the summer months, but I guess this is more for the adults' peace of mind than anything else.

"Godmother, please stop fretting so! All will be well; this is not our first trip to Grandfather's. Merely different as this is I am afraid a permanent thing for all but James." My twin exclaimed.

James is our godmother's only child, and no matter how much we would love for him to stay with us permanently, he cannot. Though Lilly does have a point this is not any of our first trip to grandfather's estate, as James always joins us on our summer trips to visit grandfather.

James sighed and then addressed his mother, "Lilly is correct, Mother. Do not fret we shall write as often as we are able. Now we must be going, otherwise, we shall miss the train. And then where would we be?"

"Well then let us hurry, otherwise, we might not be able to find a carriage with enough room for all five of us," I finally say breaking my silence for the first time in the last three days. Since we found out about the deaths of all our close relatives to be exact.

With that I led the way to the train, I handed the ticket lady all 5 of our tickets and found a mercifully empty carriage. Though it did not stay just us for long as our least favorite classmates joined us not long after we had taken our seats. 'God, please do not let them be part the group of children grandfather mentioned that would be staying with us.'
