Sanura's POV
The Station
We finally made it to the station and of course the Pevensies are still with us. I roll my eyes at my wishful thinking from this morning.
Oh well, I thought, there is nothing left but to wait for Mrs. Macready to come pick us up. This is going to be the longest day of my life.
The sound of a car startled me from my thoughts. Of course, the pevensies think that is our ride, they do not know that Grandfather hates motorized vehicles.
I roll my eyes hearing Susan say, "The professor knew we we're coming."
"Maybe they forgot about us." Came Edmund's reply.
"Grandfather did not forget, he always sends Mrs. Macready with the bugy. As he does not own a car." I state, "However, it shall be big enough to carry all twelve of us." As I finish I nod towards the three other boys standing on the platform with us.
~Twenty minutes later~
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, we heard Mrs. Macready urging Delilah, a tan mare, up the path with buggy in tow.
"Mrs. Macready?" Peter asked timidly.
"I'm afraid so… is this it then? Haven't you brought anything else?" Asked Mrs. Macready.
"No, ma'am. It's just us."
"Small favors." Turning to me she continued, "My dear girls, I am so sorry about your mothers and siblings. They will be dearly missed."
"Thank you, madam, we truly appreciate your support." I reply for the four of us getting a nod in reply.
With that I led the others in climbing into the buggy and finally we were off.
~The Professor's House~
Finally, we reach the top of the hill in front of Grandfather's home. Watching the faces of those who have never seen the house is quite interesting. It is obvious that a few of the other children are use to seeing mansions and calling them a house. But for the others the looks of amazement and awe is extremely noticeable. My favorite though has got to be Peter's face though, he keeps glancing at me and my friends with a mixture of awe, confusion, and what looks like a bit of unbelief. I can hardly keep from laughing, though I do allow myself a small smile in his direction.
"Welcome to the Hemsworth Estate, may your stay here be a pleasant one." I state in a pleasant, albeit quite voice. After all this is my home now, I might as well do my job as the eldest female member of the family. I will, however, leave the rules of the estate to Mrs. Macready.
I can see Mrs. Macready send a small smile towards me when I look towards her.
'I guess she approves of me taking up the role of Lady of the Manor. Good to know.' I think before stating aloud giving Mrs. Macready a slight nod, "I will let Mrs. Macready go over the rules of the Manor, as I may accidentally forget one."
~ Inside the House ~
Mrs. Macready started with the rules almost as soon as everyone was through the door, "Professor Kirke is not accustomed to havin' children in this house. And as such, there are a few rules we need to follow." At this I saw a few eye rolls, even among my friends. Mrs. Macready however did not see this and continued on, "There will be no shoutin'. (A few groans where heard) Or runnin'. (The younger children did not look to happy about this.) No improper use of the dumbwaiter. (There was looks of distress, eye rolls, and even a snicker from Edmund)." Susan looked like she was about to touch one of the figures, and of course Mrs. Macready turned just at that moment, "NO touchin' of the historical artifacts! (More snickers, mainly from her siblings) And above all, there shall be no disturbin' of the professor."
At the last rule, my group all rolled our eyes, in perfect unison might I add. Grandfather loves being disturbed by kids. He mostly prefers to hide from the tourists that come through. At least if it is not the local school trip, he absolutely enjoys entertaining the students with historical events behind the house and the artifacts.
"Alright this way please. I will be showing you to your rooms. I trust Sanura that you and your friends know the way to your rooms already. James you will be sharing your usual room with the Pevensie boys and Mr. Longbottom." Mrs. Macready continued.
I nodded to Mrs. Macready and started up the stairs with my friends and the three boys Mrs. Macready had named following behind me. I could feel James' eyes trying to borrow into my back as we headed to our rooms, I know he wants me to argue about placing the Pevensie boys with him. However, I know it is futile to even try, plus if we are to survive this evacuation we will need to try to get along.
We finally reach the floor with our rooms and here I pause, right outside my shared bedroom with the other three girls in my group, so I can let the others know, "Dinner is at 6 o'clock sharp. Dress is typically semi formal, if you do not have anything let James know while your settling in. He can help you find appropriate clothes among the things upstairs. I am sure Mrs. Macready will be telling the others the same. Peter," I turn to face the said boy, "if your sisters' need any semi formal and formal wear let them know to come find me before dinner and I will help find them some." And with that I turn and enter my room without giving them time to answer.
Once our door was shut I sunk straight to the floor with a sigh and thought, "Some peace at last. Well might as well get things situated while I have the time to. God knows there will not be much once everyone has settled and starts needing things. Dang, I forgot to tell them where the bathroom is. Hopefully James tells them, I knew I was forgetting something."
