Even during the early mornings of the day; villany never took a break. Luckily, the Emergency Security Department that protected the general populace of Japan's populace never did either. One such occasion of their consistency in combating evil was being demonstrated with a villain that considered kidnapping an innocent family to escape without consequence.
"Get off me, you ESD fucks!"
The villain known as Habit Headgear had his left arm as well as his torso locked down with ESD officers surrounding the villain and getting the culprit bound up in their specialized equipment. The restraints were already bound to his ribcage and left arm respectively. His response to take a family hostage was met with immediate resistance as the heroes who chased him to this location let the professionals restrain the villain and isolate the potential danger to innocent civilians before they could clear the space for the heroes to swoop in. The third tether was then launched and latched to it's right arm and tanked it open to allow the innocent family to drop free from the villain's grasp.
"Extraction; go, go, go!"
Two officers followed by four more colleagues went in to assist in getting the innocent civilians out of harm's way. The front guards planted themselves with these thick plated riot shields to allow the civilians breathing room from the immediate danger. The villain thrashed and attempted to kick with all it's might to try and get it's hostages back. The shield bearers easily blocked the attempt of an attack and let the others make the proper assessments before moving the civilians.
"... All clear. Moving hostages!"
The medic that followed the three officers assessed the family safe enough to immediately move from the hot zone. The family was cleared out along with the shield bearers trailing behind to cover their exits. The villain Habit Headgear was bound up and ready for the heroes to finish off. Mt. Lady was all but ready to take advantage when something else flew in from nowhere to take the glory.
"You little shits! Do you know-"
"Missouri Smash!"
The bulky looking villain was downed in a moment and allowed the ESD to move in and apprehend the unconscious threat.
"Do not worry; for I am here!"
The ever familiar All Might took down Headwear with a single chop to his neck. Not an easy task by any stretch of the imagination since there was basically no neck for him to target. His instant end of the fight assisted in keeping additional damages low and let the public believe in his effectiveness against villany.
"All Might; thank you for your assistance."
The ESD team lead paid respects to the greatest hero in recent history as he coordinated the rest of his operatives to get the threat contained and out of the area asap. All Might gave his dutiful salute to those serving the public safety and leapt out of the area while leaving the active heroes behind in their hubris. As much as they saw All Might as an influence and welcome deterrent to villany; he was treading on some toes with his presence here in Japan. The ESD still operated in their usual capacity regardless of whichever hero was available for their support.
"Stop that carjacker!"
While leaping to his next event of heroism; there was a noticeable sluggishness to his movements as he was moving at two thirds his previous speed. The reduction of time he inflicted onto himself from his forced activation of One for All was enough of a handicap as it were. His time was coming up shorter with every passing day and it was apparent that he was not enough of an instructor for his successor alone as under his guidance; the young teen did nothing but injure himself. More and more it seemed like he was forced to swallow his pride and ask the other counterpart that assisted in Midoriya's training for help. It hurt to see his years of suffering and saving people did little to help those he sought to guide now.
Twelve Fifty PM
"Today, we'll be undergoing basic training from the standardized coursework. This exercise will be under the supervision of just the heroes."
An area of UA where the most proficient government entity in recent years will not be guaranteeing their safety.
"Get into your hero uniforms as we are going to a site off campus."
Everybody in that class knew that the activities from one lesson to the next would only warrant an increase in difficulty. It was Sero who put the question forward that everybody had on their minds.
"Excuse me, what is the name of the exercise we're about to take part in?"
"Ah, the next part of the hero course will be rescue!"
Aizawa was as enthused as he could be to illustrate the next activity's difficulty. This specific exercise was one that even the most lacking students were excited to take a part in. It would demonstrate their tactical prowess while utilizing their ability to adapt to unknown scenarios. Izuku was one of the failing students as the last exercise landed him in hot water with a failing grade. It was a terrible start to the year, but in comparison to him, there was another who was suffering in the same category as him.
Ten Minutes Later
While the rest of the class was worried about such things like their potential score; Izuku was left to his own thoughts over where he was to be with his potential heroism. Nobody opted out of their costumes since they designed their suits to get them through whatever challenges by enhancing their innate abilities. Izuku was seemingly at a disadvantage since his costume was mostly destroyed from the last exercise. His costume was fitted to be substituted with the school PE uniform with the mouth guard being filled in with a synthetic substitute.
"Okay, everybody! Please file in and sit in the assigned seats as you would within the classroom!"
Izuku was looking at Iida with a sense of pride as it was clear that Iida wanted the position to better advance everybody's experience in UA. It just happened to be that Iida was a bit overbearing at times. The bus had an odd sense of humor even as the seats were not facing towards the front. It was as though the UA transportation standards lent them buses that were more like public transportation than anything else. Iida's effort to look competent and forward thinking went up in smoke.
"Midoriya-kun, could I ask you something?"
The girl he was seated next to was the half frog girl he saw speak to Haru once in a while after school. If he remembered correctly; her name was…
"Ah. Yes, Asui-san?"
"Call me Tsuyu."
A rather straightforward girl in his opinion. This was the first time he's had somebody ask him for a first name basis like this girl had.
"Your quirk. It's a bit like All Mights."
A few people in the bus tensed at the harmless inquiry from Asui. Along with Izuku; the only people who knew of Izuku's powers and their origins were Mina, Kyoka, and Momo. They were also aware that the whole situation was to remain under wraps for the sake of All Might's safety as well as Izuku while he trained to master his new quirk. Things getting out now would be less than ideal.
A bit of stumbling was cut off by kirishima pointing out that All Might wasn't liable to getting his arms blown up everytime he exerted himself slightly. The other reason he interjected was that Mina had disclosed to him that she was unable to share with him where Izuku got his sudden power and asked him to try and keep his curiosity to a minimum. Izuku now had these powers, end of discussion. He pitched in to help out the nervous classmate, to which Mina threw a subtle look of thanks in response.
Everybody else on the bus got to talking about the benefits and drawbacks to all of their quirks. The discussion eventually had Bakugou thrown under the bus and was now being criticized by everybody for having his short temper. Nobody heeded his warnings which were all ignored in favor of just laughing at his expense. A guilty Midoriya shielded his face as he felt partially responsible for being the reason the discussion started in the first place.
UA Disaster Simulation Facility
The entire building was one large dome that encompassed the multiple areas of the arena with different simulated disasters inside each section. Ocean storms, tornadoes, earthquakes, landslides, the whole catalog of potential natural threats were all present. What had everybody's attention wasn't the technical marvel of a training arena; rather, it was the instructor in charge of the space that had all eyes on her.
"Good day, everybody! How are we today?"
"It's Thirteen! The chivalrous hero who saves people with her specialized quirk!"
Again, Izuku was never one to waste an opportunity to show off his extensive knowledge of other heroes. A female voice emanated from a bulky looking astronaut suit. The only visible parts were the narrow bits of exposed shin between the suit and her boots. Continuing on, she made her introduction to the new arrivals with a speech to cover what it is as a teacher she hoped to achieve with everybody there.
"Before we begin; there's just one or two things I wanted to talk to you about first… Scratch that, make it three… No, scratch that; make it four."
It didn't escape the class that the amount of talking points suddenly doubled out of nowhere.
"As you may or may not know; my quirk is known as 'black hole'. With this ability I can create pockets of intense gravity that eats up anything that falls into its pull."
Everyone acknowledged her ability and knew of it's uses to help those who were often victims of major disasters. A powerful ability that she would utilize to clear out large amounts of debris or other such obstacles and threats.
"As much as I would like to think of this as a benevolent ability that only serves to help those in need; the reality is that if I'm ever careless, it could cost people their lives."
Truth was often a bitter pill to swallow for most. The existence of villains was a testament to the fact that there were people out there who just wanted to get what they wanted without a care in the world as to what happened to others. It was often the simple factor of choice that separated these two wildly divided groups.
"We live in a society where powers like ours have to be regulated and monitored to ensure the safety of the public. These abilities we possess are very easy to abuse and mismanage to the point of getting people hurt or killed.
With Aizawa's lesson to understand your abilities and All Might's lesson in engaging others with those abilities; my class is to allow you the opportunity to learn how to utilize them to save those in need. You all represent a better future; so with that, I'll say my thanks in lending me your ears."
A bow that illustrated the polite nature she was well known for. The students all gave her a round of applause for such an inspiring speech to help them understand their purposes here. A tap on her shoulder got the instructor to face Aizawa as he whispered discreetly to her.
"Speaking of which, where is our fellow colleague now?"
"Ah, yes. He's back at the teacher's lounge since he used up all of his hours this morning."
"...Great. Just perfect."
Aizawa turned to the rest of the class to announce the group setups before he felt a pricking sensation behind his neck. A curious sound like a suction of air echoed up from the bottom floor. From the middle of the clearing; a small black portal began to appear out of thin air.
ESD Security Center UA Academy Branch
"Sir! Sir, please come take a look at this!"
"What is it?"
The Emergency Security Department had their own dedicated space at every major hero academy in the country to help assist and protect the student's in training. A sizable workforce of trained officers were at the schools disposal in case there were any threats or security breaches that could put the students at risk. The central office space had several trained technicians working around the clock to make sure that the system in place was properly functioning at all times while monitoring for any suspicious activities that could indicate an attempt to breach the school through physical or digital means.
"The Disaster Simulation Arena went dark for a little before it came back online with a redundant system report being repeated over and over again."
The lead officer didn't hesitate to return to his desk and punch in a number to call the security force in.
"... This is the head officer. I need you to send a team of officers to investigate a possible breach in security… The DSA…"
He hung up and got to tasking the office to assist in the investigation.
"Listen up! We have a potential threat on the premises. I need you all primed and ready for an operation, so let's go!"
Every person in that office took their stations and began running the necessary programs and syncing up the officer's equipment to their computers. Overheads and live feeds were being set up as the lead officer took to his desk to do his part in preparing for the job in front of him and his office.
UA Academy Disaster Simulation Arena
To Aizawa's horror; a man with a severed hand as a mask exited the portal. He was then followed by a group of numerous villains as the portal kept growing in size. It was an army that poured out of nowhere.
This was not a drill anymore. This was real.
