Four Twenty AM
Inside Momo's room was a couple that had wanted to spend the night together. Under the sheets, Izuku was spooning the well developed teen girl while slumbering peacefully. Both had some fun the night before with just the two of them after Midoriya was discovered to have skipped Momo's room in the contest. She gave a very personal tour of her room that ended at the bed. Needless to say that Izuku was now very familiar with the room as of now.
Through the door came a familiar face that was now the current UA dorm mother. His approach was silent and stealthy as he was brandishing a brass trumpet. He cleared his throat a little and took his time to get proper placement on the mouthpiece before taking a deep breath through his nose.
A deafening version of the classic bugle call scared the living hell out of the teens and got them to panic while looking around for what it was that caused all the commotion. Izuku was at least able to get back into his pajama pants while Yaoyorozu slipped into Izuku's shirt before passing out in his arms. They eventually had to cover their ears after the initial scare to keep themselves from going deaf. Once Haru finished the song, he looked at the two teens with a bright smile and one hand on his hip.
"Gooooood morning, Lovebirds!"
It took the two some time to realize that their punishment had already started. Both of them groaned miserably for being so violently woken up by their new dorm mother with a trumpet of all things. All these two wanted to do was snuggle up and fall back asleep until they actually needed to wake up.
"... Wh-what… What time is it?"
Haru's response to the groggy and grumpy Izuku was to check his watch and just speak matter of factly as to the exact time.
"Four twenty three. Get ready and be downstairs by five!"
He threw the last bit of instructions over his shoulders as he left the room. Now alone, Momo and Izuku realized they were in for a real treat as to what Nakamura had in store for them. As much as these two wanted to get on with their beauty sleep, doing so will only make things worse for themselves. Izuku had to return to his room for his clothing and toiletries before heading to the baths.
Before leaving, Izuku and Momo kissed one last time before they went their separate ways in preparing for their day. A tender moment that these two would never tire of.
Kirishima's Room
Deep in slumber on his bed was Kirishima. Most of his sheets were tossed off of him and hanging off the edges of his mattress. The boy himself was splayed out with his right leg dangling in the air. His snoring was soft yet steady as Haru entered the teenager's room with a revolver in his hand. One last check of the rounds was mostly to check that the wrong ammunition wasn't loaded for what he had in store for the unconscious Kirishima.
The gun was pointed up while still being level to his head. Nakamura fired the blank rounds one after another and actually startled Kirishima badly enough to get him to stumble out of bed and land flat on his face. Being drowsy, he failed to harden his face before slamming into the hardwood floor. Hitting the floor after being woken up by the sound of gunfire was one way to get the blood pumping.
"Morning, sunshine! It's almost four thirty, so be downstairs and ready by five."
There wasn't even an opportunity for the boy to peel himself off the floor before Nakamura was already out the door and off to wake up the next student.
Iida's room
As someone who respected the rules while testing his potential, Iida was someone who took pride in getting a full night's rest in order to tackle the day with maximum awareness. That idea was none of Haru's concern as he entered the teen's room with an empty garbage can and a lid in each hand. He placed the metal bin in front of him and dug into his pocket for a roll of firecrackers.
A lighter was fished out of the other pocket after Nakamura temporarily put the lid down on the floor. With a single flick, the fuse was lit before he tossed the unfurled firecrackers into the empty receptacle. Moments passed before the fuse finally reached the first of many fireworks.
Iida actually screamed as the firecrackers went off inside the metal bin. The lid was simply used to contain the fire it produced. Haru made sure that the metal trash can was only sturdy enough to withstand fireworks. None of the sound was muffled as Iida had to cover his ears due to the painfully loud explosions.
"Morning! Downstairs by five! Be there!"
Haru had to yell a little over the sounds of the still active firecrackers. He had used too many and the trash can had to be seated in the back until they eventually all went off. Iida was unable to comprehend what just happened for a few minutes before he realized he needed to get ready for whatever Nakamura had planned for him and the others.
Shoto's Room
Todoroki was peacefully snoozing in his blankets as the door to his room swung open for Haru. This time around he thought it effective to go with a simple airhorn. He crouched down to where Shoto was still fast asleep and thought to himself that seeing the teenage boy blissfully resting almost made him feel bad for what he was about to do.
Taking aim at Todoroki, Haru held down the cap of the canister and blared a deafening amount of noise about two or three meters from his young charge. Immediately, Shoto got up and scanned the room like a madman for whoever or whatever woke him up so abruptly. A few more seconds of the air horn went off before Haru stopped and told the startled boy what it was he was here to tell him.
"Good morning, Shoto. Please get ready and meet me downstairs in the commons by five am."
With that, Haru finished his first task of the day in waking up those who were in need of disciplinary action for their dangerous little rescue attempt. Little did they know that this was just the tip of the iceberg of their hellish week.
Five AM 1-A Dorm Commons
Nobody wanted to be up before the sun was even visible. Showering and other rituals did little to alleviate the drowsiness still lingering in their systems. In sharp contrast to them, Nakamura was already wide awake and rubbing his hands together as he scanned the row of drowsy teenagers. Everyone made themselves as small as possible in the vain hope that they would be able to disappear.
"Now then, I think we can skip the pleasantries and get down to business…"
His eyes hardened slightly as his tone shifted into one that had a stern edge to it.
"All of you thought it was justified that you intruded into my business to go out on your own on a half assed rescue plan. Not only did you break the law, you all broke my trust."
None of them could look Nakamura in the eyes as he hit the nail on the head. His words were cutting them all down to size for how they didn't think things through. It was now even more unfortunate for all of them that this man was now their dorm mother.
"Starting this morning, you all will be assisting me in my daily morning routines. So far I think about two weeks should be enough for the time being."
A total of ten days where they needed to wake up before the sun even rose to help their new dorm mother seemed fair enough. This wasn't even considering the fact that the kids had practically broken the law as well for infringing on a government investigation.
"Now, follow me to the back and help me with unloading the shipments."
Out back of the dorm was a row of vans driven by ESD officers who had brought Nakamura his shipment of ingredients for the meals that would go on to feed every dorm on campus. Haru took a quick peek into his boxes of vegetables and nodded in approval of the quality produce from his suppliers. The five teenagers were then given their first task of the day.
"Unload everything on these vans into the prep kitchen while I get started on these."
He effortlessly took two boxes stacked onto one another into the dorm building and was already working to get the enormous metal sink started with a flow of cold tap water. Iida and Kirishima assumed that based on the effort that Haru made to lift the boxes that perhaps things would be easier than expected. Reality was a cold bitch to the teenagers as when Iida tried to lift one of the boxes. It wasn't until he hefted with a good amount of effort that the box finally came off the van and into his arms.
His face was going red as the box felt like there were actual rocks inside of it. Since the quality of the vegetables was so high, almost every vegetable was even heavier than the type of produce one would get from a supermarket. The first van succeeded in getting the teens to break into a sweat, and the next few got them to dread deeply as to what this work would entail.
Some Time Later
Finally, the last van was unloaded of all it's contents after what felt like an eternity of hard manual labor. Some of them were wondering if this was just Haru being extra hard on them by ordering more than what he needed to help feed the students in all the other dorms. Everybody was breathing hard while leaning up on something or sitting down to rest their exhausted limbs.
"What… The… Hell…"
Kirishima wanted to rip his own hair out with the idea of having to do this again. Nobody could even respond to the disbelief that the redhead presented to the group. Rest was even fleeting as Haru approached the group and started them on their next task. He equipped them with cut resistant gloves and had them start prepping and washing the rest of the ingredients. Kirishima and Shoto were washing the produce while Izuku and Momo were charged with cutting the vegetables into manageable pieces for Haru to use.
Iida was tasked with keeping everything in motion. Moving the washed ingredients to the prepping table, and finally to Nakamura when he asked for the ingredients in question. When there was a different set of ingredients Haru requested, it was up to Iida to find the appropriate boxes and hand them to the two boys at the sink. What followed was some of the most brutal and exhausting labor that anybody could endure in their lives, especially for teenagers who never worked in the food industry.
Later
Not only did the five students help in preparing the meals for the entire campus; Haru had all of them help in delivering the freshly prepared breakfasts to each building in the dorm complex. Some students even asked for lunch boxes out of preference for a more traditional lunch. Iida was indispensable as the one who had the most mobility of the group, though Nakamura did warn that dropping the trays of food would result in an extension of their time as his assistants.
Right as they delivered the last of the meals, the first few early risers were awake and getting ready for their day. Seeing the day now start when they were all exhausted was a rude wakeup to how punishing these next two weeks were really going to be.
Homeroom Period
Aizawa let the class know that the focus of that day's lesson was to focus on developing a specialized move for each individual student. More specifically, a form of technique that will help in rounding out their skill sets. The class was to take place at the gamma gym complex on campus; what awaited the students was something that even they weren't quite ready for.
After changing into their hero costumes and arriving at the training facility, the seemingly plain looking indoor gym was suddenly occupied by officers of the ESD security staff from the opposite doors that the students entered from. Their apparel weren't that of their usual attire of full on combat gear with weapons in their hands. For the training exercise, it seemed that their anonymity wasn't important enough to warrant covering their faces.
Seeing the officers in simple black shirts and pants with ESD shirts oddily humanized the officers. The class were curious as to why it was the ESD were there in numbers for the critical training to develop the student's heroic capabilities.
"Todoroki. Please step forward."
The request from his homeroom teacher caused Shoto to step forward and stand out by his lonesome while a female officer made their way to the center area of the gym. What came out of their teacher's mouth further surprised the elemental quirk user.
"If you would, go full out against this officer. She will not use her quirk while sparring with you."
That sort of request felt more like an execution than just a casual sparring session. Todoroki faced the officer who still was in her regulation posture while noticing that she wasn't even looking at him. Her discipline was ingrained into her like it was a mantra taught since birth. It was a bit of a shame since Todoroki felt that her petite build with porcelain features were more than enough to supplement her beauty. Even the blue tinted hair that was tied up into a tight ponytail was something he wanted to see let loose.
Both he and the officer were squared off in an impromptu match with Midnight acting as the referee. The starting signal was the beginning of the end for the naive teenage boy as the officer then sprinted at him with speed that got her to him in a second. Todoroki launched an ice wave that was easily dodged by the officer with an arm on his torso, followed by a clinch and a takedown that made Shoto black out immediately.
When he regained consciousness, he learned that the match was over in favor of the ESD officer. Even his classmates were shocked to see such one sided results with one combatant simply not using their quirk at all. Training continued from where the summer camp left off was to introduce the concept of utilizing one's abilities with their current physical limitation.
All the officers were given varying sets of equipment to fulfill a different role during the student's training. Some were equipped with riot shields and night sticks, while others were given ranged practice weapons. Others were given padded gear and other melee implements to create a diverse cast of practice enemies.
All of them scattered all over the gym before Aizawa pressed a button on a remote retrieved from his pocket. Hexagonal sections of the floor a meter in diameter from one parallel surface to the next sprouted from the floor and created an artificial battleground for the students to face off against their newest form of enemy.
Up on the artificial rock formations were the officers now equipped with tools and equipment that made them look like true to life enemies. Something told them that the exercise was more than what it seemed on the surface.
Thirty Minutes Later
There was a bit of a disparity in combat experience between the students and the officers that was immediately apparent. Ojiro was already struggling to fight back two officers with riot shields and night sticks while eventually being pinned to a rock wall underneath their shields.
Ojiro was notified by the officers that his tendency to take a fight like he did made him weak in confrontations against multiple combatants. His overreliance on his tail was also a huge point of contention as his hardest hitting moves were easily read by the officers and parried. The advice and help from the ESD officers was something that would be a constant tool for Okiro to take advantage of in developing his skills as a hero.
Mina was quite the well equipped hero in training with a multitude of skills and unique alternative forms of her acidic powers. Many of the officers were pressing hard to gain an advantage, and they were able to get that advantage not long after they started their practice match. The versatility and mobility of her skill set was excellent for a start, but she still needed experience to develop proper spatial awareness. Also, her ability to switch between focusing on singular threats and multiple enemies was sluggish enough for the officers to restrain the girl.
Many of the criticisms given to the students was simply their lack of actual experience in real fights. Kids like Ridiko and Sero were shown the ropes by being thrown into them and being struck with a liarat on the rebound. What these kids thought was going to be them getting a new power was mostly a trial by fire in the ways of combat.
Izuku was able to fend for himself for the most part, but his need to be in close quarter combat was a bit of an issue. He no longer possessed Full Gauntlet and was now back to the lower percentage of power he was at before the incident at I-Island. Two officers who were sniping at Midoriya as support for the four officers in protective equipment severely limited his movement. For the fifth time that day, he was brought down in a pin and was unable to escape.
"Midoriya, you must stop being so analytical in combat. Try to set a singular goal and attempt to reach that goal during combat. You end up juggling far too much in your head, otherwise."
The officer who helped up the boy for another practice round notified Izuku of what he saw as a potential vulnerability. So fair, none of their advice had yet to train the teens in developing a specialized move that would be their weapons in their future. The teachers on the sideline allowed the ESD to instruct their students in the basics of fighting while analyzing the teenagers progress.
One officer approached Ectoplasm and requested that he join the training as a practice villain for the students. His clones were produced and joined in on the fray to act in the exercise as a primary target. Most of the students struggled to get to their targets to eliminate the clones assigned to them.
"They really aren't holding back against them, are they?"
Entering the open double doors was the still recovering All Might from the I-Island incident. He was walking with a crutch after he had been kicked hard enough on the floor to fracture something in his hip. It was still hard for All Might to come to terms with his newfound vulnerability. After what should have been nothing more than a few love taps was enough to send him to the hospital. Although he was now faced with his mortality, he still had a mission to complete as the previous inheritor of One for All.
Seeing all the students work so hard in trying to develop themselves was still something that gave All Might hope for the future. Bakugou was certainly a promising contender as he was the first to eliminate his clone. Though it wasn't easy, he managed better than the others. All the teachers could tell that he was going to be a formidable hero in the near future.
"Young Midoriya, do you have a moment?"
It startled Izuku for a moment as he was about to start his next attempt of eliminating the clone assigned to him. All Might could see the gears turning in his student's head as the limitations of his power were being contested with. What All Might told the boy was that Midoriya shouldn't seek to purely imitate what he saw or was taught. Treating that information more like guidelines rather than hard instructions would probably help the struggling Izuku find his way to new possibilities.
Before Izuku could ask his mentor to elaborate, the recovering retiree called over another nearby student to check up on their progress. Clearly his mentor wanted Midoriya to explore his own way of creating a new path. Now all he needed was some sort of idea that would help point him in the right direction.
UA Academy Main Building
When asked for a way for his suit to be altered, the teachers mentioned the development studio on the first floor of the main building. For now, his need for better armor was the most immediate issue to address. Nakamura did pass through his mind for somebody he could possibly ask, though that idea was shot down when he remembered that Haru was barely speaking to the boy.
His resolve did harden as he vowed to find the answer on his own. He couldn't keep depending on his teachers to keep spoon feeding the answers to him when this was supposed to be his journey to start with. Reaching the development studio, Izuku reminded himself that he needed to focus on trying to see what about his costume could be altered to assist his current limitation. Since the use of Full Gauntlet, perhaps he could find a way to install something similar into his costume.
Uraraka and Tenya were discussing their reasoning for getting their costumes upgraded when they noticed Izuku already at the studio doors. As Ochaco approached Midoriya while Iida reprimanded her for running in the halls, Izuku was pulling the door open after not getting a response after knocking.
"Oh, Ocha-"
A massive fireball that engulfed half the hallway in front of it sent the unsuspecting green haired boy flying. Neither Ochaco and Iida knew what to say or do for a moment as they were still processing the image of the unsuspecting Midoriya being swallowed by a comically large cloud of fire and smoke.
They managed to snap out of it in time to hear somebody reprimand somebody from inside of the still smoke filled room. Power loader, a support class instructor, was telling off one of his students for being so reckless in making something that was more of a hazard than an actual piece of usable equipment. Their response to the scolding they received was to quote an old american inventor over how finding success was more about exploring the potential rather than avoiding the chances of failure. That wasn't the point of the lecture as they simply wanted their student to stop blowing up the room everyday.
"Oh, you're that kid from a while ago!"
On top of Izuku was the ever eccentric inventor Hatsume Mei. He could certainly feel how gifted the girl was besides being a brilliant inventor. Her desire of comfort over form gave Izuku a generous feel of her chest against his abdomen. There was certainly something that Mei could feel against her abdomen that told the girl that apparently she wasn't the only one blessed by good genetics.
She looked a little too coy for comfort as her hand began to feel up Izuku in the middle of the hallway. He wasn't a stranger to being intimate with somebody in public, but his friends were looking right at him and she was practically a stranger to him still. For someone like Mei, seeing the boy blush and squirm under her touch was a bit too much fun for her to resist.
"Hatsume! Are you listening?!"
Suddenly remembering where she was and what she was doing, Mei got off the blushing Midoriya and helped the boy back onto his feet. Though Iida missed it, Ochaco could tell that Izuku may need her help with something very soon. Things progressed from the hallway into the workshop that Mei almost destroyed for the hundredth time or so.
Reintroductions were a little necessary since Hatsume was failing to put names to the faces in front of her. Iida's old grudge was seemingly pointless as she couldn't remember the demonstration of her devices that the mad inventor subjected him to. The conversation would have ended there as Mei was already too bored of the interaction and wished to return to her work in upgrading and building new 'babies'.
"Wait! We were sent here because we wanted to upgrade our costumes. I was told that Power Loader was-"
"Costume upgrades?!"
It was almost impossible to get a read on this girl. One moment she was feeling up Izuku, then in the span of forty seconds went from bored to interested once again. Foxes were more predictable than this girl's attention span. Power Loader gave a stern warning to his student over her rash tendencies and guided the trio of junior heroes into the development studio.
There was a bounty of tech and tools scattered about the room. Everyone who wasn't familiar with the support class scanned the room in awe of all the impressive equipment. The instructor grabbed their attention as he went over their desired alterations to their costumes.
Setting the expectation was mostly what he went over with the students looking to improve their performance through their costumes. Nothing too crazy or groundbreaking was what he told them to avoid when sending in their instructions to the build team. The most they could expect was some sort of upgrade to bolster or prevent certain side effects while they wear their costumes.
Regarding Midoriya's costume, his desire to keep his hands shielded from his own power was seemingly reasonable enough. Power Loader approved of the design specifications as Izuku started to feel something hug him from behind. Two of something, to be more precise.
Mei was already back to touching Izuku and getting a measure of the boy's body. Ochaco was a bit amused by the pink dreaded girl simply having her way with Izuku's solid frame. She even complimented the impressive physique as his body started to react to the physical contact. He was able to keep a level head, but it still was a bit jarring to be openly molested like that. Feeling his body react so strongly was so much fun for the young inventor, especially when his erection was hinting at something that made her lick her lips in anticipation. Her eccentric personality didn't really leave a lot of room for things like understanding social cues and subtlety.
From there, the rest of their stay was a strange romp through the catalog of halfway working gear that Hatsume was still working on to this day. Izuku was almost twisted like a braid inside a prototype battle suit and Iida was pinned to the ceiling with arm boosters that he somehow put on without his knowing. It was the literal opposite of what he came in to ask for his costume.
His complaints were responded with an answer that was just as useful as the arm boosters were. How Mei thought that a hero running on his hands when he needed help with his legs was beyond anybody. That answer started to click with Izuku on a more personal level in comparison with Iida.
What All Might said to him was beginning to make sense. Izuku hadn't made any progress on his own because he never did any critical thinking for himself. He already had all the experience and skill necessary for him to take on the next level of his growth. Rather than just straight copying and imitating those he borrowed from, now he understood that he could shape and form his own way of doing things from what he gained from others.
Coming to the unique conclusion he did was all thanks to the strange and lateral thought process of Mei. He gave the girl a firm hug and a firm peck on the sheet that made the inventor speechless for a moment while Izuku then turned to Iida for some advice on something he knew the fellow classmate to be an expert on. Ochaco teased the eccentric inventor and ribbed her for being so shy after feeling up that very same teenager twice out in the open.
Despite the teasing, she and Ochaco exchanged info out of the gravity user's insistence. Little did she know she was about to walk into a pride of women as their newest prey.
Four Days Later
Every single student in class 1-A was working their hands down to the bone marrow in their pursuit of improving their abilities as heroes. For some of those less fortunate, their routine of having to slave away in a prep kitchen for about two to three hours in the early morning was just another hurdle to leap in their pursuit of heroism.
They were done with the first week and now were very much looking forward to the weekend. At the training gym, Izuku and his fellow kitchen staff were seeing some wear on their mileage. Waking up at four thirty wasn't that much of an issue in comparison to the back breaking work that went on for hours. Those who weren't able to wake up before four thirty were also subjected to Haru's increasingly creative means of waking them up.
Kirishima was the heaviest sleeper of them all, and that backfired on him due to the fact that his phone alarm wasn't doing the job of waking him up in time. Every morning for the past five days was one heart attack after another. For the teenage boy, the plastic bottle with a little bit of water and dry ice was the worst. Nakamura had put the makeshift explosive in a kevlar bag and tied it up before letting the pressure build up and scare the piss out of Kirishima. That was a literal description of what happened since the boy did partially piss himself out of shock.
Even though they were still tired, that didn't give them any more of an excuse to not push themselves. The daily camp was lively as usual when All Might arrived with a limp replacing his crutches. His fellow educators expressed their small concern of him walking without the mobility assistance, but he simply explained that leaving the crutches was just a part of his physical therapy.
Back with the training students, Toyokami made a breakthrough with his shadow quirk that he felt was a great achievement. Now the shadow was draped over his head and back like a long cowl with a cape that extended past his feet. His name for the new form of his power was Malefic Abyss Cloak. The cape was more than just a long piece of decorative fabric made from his own shadow. It also had the ability to sprout several shadow arms and use them as both offensive and defensive options.
His training was a continuation of the summer camp that was interrupted a while back. Since Nakamura spent a majority of his time at the 1-A dorms, Tokoyami asked him for the rest of the training that he would have given the boy. Haru pushed the boy's ability to multitask with his shadow and got him to adjust to the strain of controlling multiple limbs. It still wasn't perfect, but now Tokoyami now had a form of offense and defense that had unlimited potential for versatility.
Bakugou was noted by the teachers for being terrifyingly adept at developing his powers as he tested out his new move. Both his arms were adorned with new gauntlets that were slimmer and lighter than his previous pineapple grenade ones. The newest iteration of his gauntlets had been swapped out with slimmer canister grenades being the influence of their design. Since Bakugou was a fighter that would often use his fists to fight, it only made sense to lighten the load on his arms to improve his speed and mobility.
The left hand was up flat while the right hand made a tube in front of it. This recent development was not only due to the boy's tenacity to improve himself. Somebody had his best interests at heart as they helped to give Katsuki a helping hand.
Three Days Ago
Haru had some free time in the afternoon before he needed to prepare the dinner meals for the students he was in charge of caring for. Bakugou had caught the white haired man lounging in the commons with his computer on his lap. He tapped the man's shoulder and got Haru to look at the boy standing behind the couch he was sitting on.
"Hey kiddo, what's up?"
"I did it. Now what?"
In the palm of Katsuki's right hand was a pile of white sand. Immediately, it was obvious to Haru as to what the boy was referring to. Without a second thought, Haru closed his laptop and asked Katsuki to follow him out to the grassy field outside. Nakamura asked the teenager as to how it was he activated his blasts when they arrived.
He clarified to his mentor that it was his will or another reaction that his sweat ignited. Thanks to Haru, that reaction became stronger due to the training he gave the boy. This part of the training had Katsuki think about how to increase the range of his explosions without the aid of his costume. His newer gauntlets were capable of launching his stored sweat in a rapid volley of explosive shots, though to do so while preserving the more powerful reaction of his newer explosions was the real conundrum.
While Bakugou was trying to come to his own conclusion as to how he would be able to readjust his quirk for farther ranges, Haru had thought of something that may work for the boy. The reason he was so generous with the information was due to how difficult it would be to execute the newer form of offense for Katsuki.
His theory was that Bakugou would be able to use detonation velocity to time out the delay between explosions of his quirk to produce a launcher of sorts. Main problem was that the control that Bakugou needed to demonstrate for this new attack was almost milliseconds apart.
That wasn't something that Bakugou considered to be a good enough reason to simply give up on trying to master it. Nakamura knew that the boy would be able to achieve success as Katsuki pushed his control of the explosions he produced to the level necessary to produce the desired sequence of explosions to create his new move.
Present Time
"HV Concussion Shot!"
A projectile fired itself from his hands and made contact with the practice targets set up for him to utilize. All the targets were human analogs set up on metal stands to set them upright. They were all made of a ballistic material that would break apart after a certain threshold of force was surpassed. Katsuki asked for a high threshold when asked for what durability level he wanted.
None of the dummies were intact from the detonation of the projectile that Bakugou shot into the center target of the grouped together targets. The detonation was destructive enough to demolish all the analogs set up for him to practice on.
All his hard work had paid off. The newest addition to his arsenal was not only destructive, it left him unaffected by the harsh aftershock of simply launching the high ordinance blast at point blank range. That sort of result from a single attack gave All Might goosebumps to actually witness in person. Katsuki was a serious contender for the number one spot that All Might once occupied.
There was another who was right behind Bakugou, if not just beside him in terms of progress. Over where Izuku was facing off against several officers, the boy activated his own quirk to then launch into a sequence of ricocheting attacks that bounced from one target to the next. Though they weren't downed, every riot shield at the standard for police riot squads shattered as Izuku kicked them.
His form of utilizing One for All was to channel the power to his legs and use the much more durable limbs that he possessed to launch his attacks. He was able to pour more power into his legs and deliver more damage while also increasing his mobility. Even his costume reflected this new development with the metal shoes that were adorning his feet. Hatsume Mei delivered her end of the bargain in spades.
All Might felt that the future was well cared for in the hands of these intelligent and gifted students. Watching all of their progress had only instilled confidence in the former hero. He felt the call of duty that he still needed to answer as an educator, and no longer as a hero.
That Evening
All the girls were in the commons area of the 1-A Dorms and enjoying the weekend to unwind from the nonstop grind of training. Haru had even stopped by to give the girls cups of aromatic chinese tea with snacks to enjoy their hot drinks with. Each mochi was expertly created with a cute little decal of an animal or pretty flower to help ease the minds of the exhausted teens.
It really did help that Haru was often still very considerate of their needs while doing all the work that he needed to accomplish as a dorm mother. He not only completed the work for their dorm, all the other dorms were seemingly very happy with the work that Nakamura did to keep their dorm lives very comfortable.
Many of the students felt that the man was truly considerate of their needs and was even one to take time out of his day to listen to students who wanted to talk about their troubles. None of the students he interacted with were brushed off or ignored as he somehow did his job while helping the youth through whatever problems they were experiencing. Since so many of the students were away from home for the first time, his time was a bit tight to address all their needs for his conversation.
Had Momo been awake during the delivery of the evening treats for the girls, it would have hit her the most that Nakamura really did an impossible amount of work for all the dorming students. She was knocked out cold with her head resting on Kyoka's lap. All the girls were simply unwinding and talking about all their strife in obtaining their new techniques.
Most of the conversation was them trying to vent their stresses with the good fortune of the weekend being just ahead of them. As it were, many of the teens were just on the cusp of a breakthrough while still lacking in their final bit of inspiration. Their conversation eventually landed on the topic of their shared lover, Midoriya Izuku.
Jiro and Mina knew that the boy was still out front, practicing his kicks. It was then that the gaggle of girls noticed that Haru took out his outside tennis shoes to the door and swapped them out with his indoor slippers. It still was quite the alien sight to see Nakamura in a different apron with some sort of child friendly graphic printed on the front while wearing slippers as he completed all his work with blinding speed.
Outside the dorm, Izuku was struggling to perfect his kicks based on the notes and observations he took off the way that Iida kicked. As he was reviewing his notes, a familiar voice called out to him from behind.
"Izuku."
Turning to the source of the callout, Haru had a look on his face that was much lighter in nature in comparison to the expression that he had when he purposely avoided the teenage boy. Considering that this was the first time in weeks since they had a proper one on one, Izuku responded with enthusiasm and confusion in light of the recent development.
"N-N-Nakamura-san! I'm sorry, I didn't realize that-"
"That's Haru-san to you, kiddo."
It took a moment for Izuku to process what had just been said to him just now. What made it a bit difficult was how Haru didn't lose the hardened stare in his eyes he's held for the past few days. There was still some bad blood between them still, but it seemed that Nakamura was easing off of the teenager for now.
Looking over to the notebook and how it was that Izuku was practicing his kicks, it seemed that Haru had to step in once more to correct the boy's technique. He passed Izuku for a moment to reach down and retrieve the notebook that possessed all the information one could want to illustrate Iida's technique. Although it was impressive and well written, the problem was that the technique was flawed from the start.
"... Yeah, I think we need to do some work."
Haru closed the notebook and reapproached Izuku to hand it back. After returning it, Haru spoke with a tone that Midoriya couldn't tell was stern or exasperated.
"Tomorrow at twelve, meet me here. We're gonna work on a few things before your exam."
He returned inside like nothing had happened. Izuku could feel a huge weight off his chest now that Haru was talking to him once again. This didn't mean that the boy was completely forgiven, but now he felt more motivated that there was a break in the silence between them.
