The League of Villains were starting to hit a major block in the road towards their goals. Even after taking out a group of exclusionists that prided themselves with the elimination of mutant based quirk users, all they had was a fat load of nothing.
Money was the biggest obstacle for the league. They were past their last leg and were scraping the bottom of the barrel for something that could help them out with financial needs. With thing's looking desperate, Kurogiri decided to take a drastic measure for the good of the group. Whatever that measure was he didn't tell the rest of them.
Spinner was starting to lose his cool with Shigaraki with how poorly the league was performing so far. It was the ideals of Stain that he joined to reform society in the first place. Now there was nothing to show for it as the group was now nothing but a shell of what it was a few months ago while being wanted fugitives. All his effort and sacrifice was feeling rather wasted in the face of their destitution.
Dabi returned to the group and asked why it was that the current leader was being manhandled by their subordinate. He berated the others for just messing around while he was the one doing any sort of actual work to improve their situation. Right as Spinner was about to mouth off Dabi as well, the entire hideout was starting to shake and tilt from some sort of earthquake. Wanting to identify what it was trying to shake the mountain down to a pile of gravel, all the current league members went outside to see a mountain of a monster lumbering about in front of their current hideout.
It apparently was rather fixated in finding the successor of All for One. Shigaraki addressed the titan and took on the identity of All for One's disciple in front of Gigantomachia. A poorly thought out move as the enormous monster then challenged the group to a battle to prove whether or not Shigaraki was indeed the one to inherit his master's mission.
Later
A one sided battle with Gigantomachia being the victor was all that remained. All the other league members were littered all over the ground with him screaming like a maniac about how weak Shigaraki was.
It was a strange development of sorts as the league picked themselves off the ground. Things were clarified when the radio that hung from Gigantomachia's neck started to broadcast a voice Shigaraki recognized as the doctor. He told the others that it was a doctor who was there when he was a child with All for One, and how he was the one who created the hands he wore now. The doctor was in need of speaking to the group, so he forcefully transported them through the same means when the group had their hideout raided.
Black fluid was spewed from all their mouths as it enveloped all of them to transport them to where the doctor resided.
Elsewhere
In some sort of hidden laboratory, the league collected themselves as they stood between two rows of liquid containers that all possessed Nomu with jet black skin. The doctor was seated at the end of the room with some sort of strange creature in his lap. As far as introductions went, his was laced with disappointment as he berated the current iteration of the league with how poorly they've performed.
What was unknown to the other members was how Kurogiri had turned himself in to trade places to allow Gigantomachia to walk. This failure on Shigaraki's part was what the doctor had a problem with.
Tomura was certain that this goal he had with society was obtainable with the help of the doctor. Even the doctor could see how much Shigaraki believed in the reformation of current society through its destruction. Spinner was a little hesitant to completely agree, though he was now starting to regret his past outburst against Shigaraki.
A sort of agreement was reached. The doctor would lend his aid if Tomura was able to get Gigantomachia to agree to help the league as it was. He sent the group back to the giant for them to try and subjugate the monster to obey them. If they could.
Several Days Earlier
"WHY ARE YOU HERE, BLOODSOAKED?!"
From what All for One could see, the man who tortured him and was also the one to send him into this hellhole was now on the visitation side of the room as the entire space was now opening up to become one large space. To add insult to injury, Bloodsoaked was dressed to the nines with the gas mask he wore keeping his identity still a mystery.
The man was not in any rush to answer the world renown villain as the folder in his hand was flipped through at his leisure. All for one was fucking furious with the presence of the one who was the only one to make him fearful of them.
"Your self proclaimed disciple, Shigaraki, is finding it a little difficult to prosper with the little you left him out there. Some teacher you are, you fucking moron."
He didn't even care if the room was going to pelt him with autofire from the turrets hanging from the ceiling. All for one wanted to kill this man. His efforts to break out of his bonds were met with failure.
"Now that we have the pleasantries out of the way; here's what I have to tell you. If you leave this prison, I will make your life worse than you knew possible. So be smart and sit in your shitty little box where you're better off."
Only insults were thrown at him as All for One was bound to the wheelchair that was his only means of mobility. Had he had the freedom, this motherfucker would be begging for his life. A sentiment that was not shared by the man who was sitting comfortably across from the villain in a designer suit while wearing that infernal gas mask that disguised his identity.
None of this was fair. It was All for One who wanted to lead the world towards something he knew would be better for everyone. What was a little greed to the needs of the many? He deserved it.
"So now comes my favorite part…"
Bloodsoaked then did something strange. His suit jacket was taken off and hung on the back of the chair he sat in. His sleeves were rolled up after removing the cufflinks with the tie coming off as well. These articles of clothing were left where they were as even the folder he brought into the room was left sitting on the chair. The chair was dragged to a corner of the room before he returned to the still bound up All for One.
Without warning, A single punch that buried him into the reinforced wall destroyed all of his internal organs with the amount of force that collided with his torso. What should have been a corpse was healing and allowed to move freely once again. Right as All for One was picking himself off the floor, a stomp that shook the facility splattered the newly regenerated insides of the villain all over the floor.
Another few moments of healing later, All for One tried to retaliate to escape his predicament. The arm he was about to channel his quirks through was ripped off in an instant. He was beaten and torn apart repeatedly before he could even do anything to fight back.
This was Bloodsoaked working out his frustrations with the narcissist stuck in a cell that was inside of the prison he owned. For hours, he gave no quarter to the man he was torturing with constant death blows while ripping them apart. All for one had about an entire lifetime of pain to answer for what he did to Tenko. None of this was for information or anything else; all Haru wanted to do was hurt this sack of shit over and over again.
Mid December
In the mountains that were home to the league and Gigantomachia, the league rested in an isolated part of the mountain that was out of sight of the giant that they spent almost every waking moment subjugating. Toga arrived in a new coat that looked to be a bit too expensive from the funds she received from the league. Her justification was that she had some cash laid away somewhere else for her personal needs that was running dry at the moment. In the meantime, Shigaraki was rather single minded in his goals as he was now close to his goal of getting everything he needed for his goals.
In reality, he was running away. Ever since he ran into Bloodsoaked on that road all those weeks ago, he refused to call the number on the card he still possessed. It was the only way he knew to learn more of his past that his master had hidden from him. This fact still wasn't compelling enough for Tomura to just call the number he was given. Whatever was waiting for him on the other side of the call was too terrifying for him to think about.
Out of nowhere, Twice's mobile went off with the caller id as someone everyone there knew of. He answered his phone with a good amount of annoyance.
"Why the fuck aren't you answering our calls, you bastard?! We aren't exactly sitting comfy here, you know!"
"Ah, that may be a fault of mine, Mr. Bubaigawara. My apologies."
Twice put the call on speaker for the others to listen in on the call. That name was not a name he wanted to hear again in his entire lifetime. It was a voice that was manipulated by a voice changer to keep the caller's identity anonymous to the league.
The voice asked that the league check the news to see what was on the feed. The news had been blowing up on an incident regarding the anonymous distribution of five human fingers regarding significant locations to the League of Villains. The yakuza, All Might's final battle, Kamino ward, etc.
These fingers were also found with articles of clothing associated with Giran, their informant and broker. After hearing the news, the caller dropped the voice modulator and introduced himself as the new leader of the Liberation Army, Re-Destro.
Not wanting to skirt around the conflict, Rikiya told the current League of Villains of the power that the Liberation held over the country. Over one hundred and fifteen thousand members spread throughout the populace with major financial institutions backing their efforts. Power and money that the league had no hope of competing against. There was something he wanted them to do in face of this sort of power imbalance. It was more blackmail than a request with their location being threatened to be revealed if they didn't comply.
He told them that their informant was there for them to pick up if they showed up to Daichi City. It was this condition that he would release the man into their custody. A way for Rikiya to see what the league would do in face of his organization and their power.
For Tomura, it was something that sounded like a walk in the park.
Elsewhere
"Daichi city has been isolated, sir. We currently have our operatives in place; how should we proceed?"
Inside of a dark house was a man with a multitude of ammunition and weapons around him. This was not what he wanted, but there was something he needed to see in order for this operation to be worth anything. Nothing he couldn't do by himself if he wanted to. It was something that had people he put in harm's way in order for things to continue on their path towards his ideal conclusion.
If things were ideal, then the streets would remain clean. If not…
Daichi City Outer Limits
The league arrived at the sight of a city that was eerily quiet. To their left, a hero guided them into a street that led into the city that was the agreed meeting place between the League of Villains and the Liberation Army. Going further into the city only served to make the group feel more uneasy the deeper they were brought into the city.
Finally, someone who seemed to have some authority in the Liberation army addressed them at the end of their journey. A politician that was heading a political party in the Japanese government came to greet the group with a woman with blue skin and purple hair walking alongside him to his right. He thanked their presence in the city for something he called the second coming of the Liberation Army.
From out of the woodworks, combatants with all sorts of quirks came out to ambush the league members. The city was ninety percent Liberation Army members with training in combat for their uprising against society.
The group was forced to take on a flood of combatants while all being separated from one another. One significant fight that was taking place was between Toga and the woman with blue skin.
For Toga, this fight was already an uphill battle with how many combatants had surrounded her. Chitose Kizuki was a woman of drive and focus that obtained her position of power through her cunning and natural gifts. Toga was a bit of an anomaly for the woman who was in charge of a publication on the legal side of her life. To see a healthy teenage girl turn to the league was a mystery she was desperate to uncover. Nothing made sense about the scenario, so she wanted to investigate the girl through whatever means necessary.
A bit of a monologue occurred as Chitose was mouthing off about her pedigree in the world of reporting. She was making Toga out to be a bit of a bore while Toga was already focused on trying to get rid of the threat. A knife flew into a man's neck next to the woman while Toga herself was already focused on trying to take down the Liberation Army executive.
As she was descending with a knife in hand to stab Chitose in her neck, the army members all around the woman charged in to protect the woman. Their commitment to the cause was blind fanaticism that was strong enough for them to believe they should sacrifice themselves for the cause.
Toga was sent flying into a neighboring building with glass window walls lining the front of the building. It was a noodle restaurant with its employees already seeking to kill her while other members were looking to kill her from outside. As Toga caught herself from the fall, the ground below her feet combusted into a fiery explosion. The power that Chitose possessed was the ability to turn whatever she touched into an explosive she could detonate at will. Her quirk wasn't very powerful with each explosion, though that lack of force she could make up with the volume of explosions.
Now flying through the air, Toga knew that she needed to react immediately to survive. Her current costume with its needles was her best option in finding a way out of the situation. She struck several Liberation Army members with her syringes and drank down their blood through the mask that was attached to the hoses leading to the needles. This was a fatal mistake on her part as the blood she drank turned into combustible liquid inside of her.
Chitose taunted the teenage girl for her folly while another set of explosions from the ground that was beneath Toga went off. She went flying through the air while the woman tormenting her with the girl's past was just having the time of her life.
She saw Toga as a story. A mystery to be shared. Another person Toga saw as someone who didn't care for the teenage girl. This woman's presence only made the teenage girl realize how much she realized she missed Haru. He was the reason she endured this life of hers so long. When she was thrown out by her parents, he gave her his help without asking for compensation. Pursuit of this change in society due to the people in her life felt hollow for how she simply missed the person who stood by her through thick and thin.
Even as she was willing to throw away her life to shed the pain of hiding behind a mask, he prevented her from surrendering to her pain. He didn't do it to feel good for keeping a girl from preventing a crime, but because he knew Toga was in pain over how much she was keeping in. What he saw was a girl who didn't deserve to be punished for being repressed into the depths of her own insanity.
As Toga told off the woman who was making her mad, the teenage girl collapsed with the pain in her body causing her to fall limp. Chitose kept calling the girl a story, which made Toga feel beyond agitated with the bitch. Even being caressed by the Liberation Army leader felt dirty as Chitose was cradling Toga's head while still mocking Toga's life. Toga wanted to shut her up with another knife thrust, but the woman was too quick on the draw. An experimental device that allowed her to channel her explosive quirk through it allowed Kuzuki to land a blow on Toga's face that rendered the girl almost unconscious.
"It's okay. Just die and become a martyr for history to remember the Liberation Army for."
While she cradled the limp form of Toga, something else in the distance was starting to make itself known. Through the crowds of her army followers was an anomaly sending liberation forces flying away from it as it got closer to her location. Nobody knew what was charging through the crowd with such ease while brutalizing all the army members that tried to stop it. Right as Chitose was about to order her people, she heard whatever was rushing towards her scream in an abnormally low voice for someone. Someone she was in possession of.
"TOGA!"
Without warning, her people yanked Kuzuki behind them as something charged in and sent her followers into the sky with a violent charge. She didn't just see her people fly away; Chitose saw dozens of Liberation Army members be torn apart into chunks before their entrails rained down from the sky.
It was only by the instincts of her underlings she survived the impact of whatever collided with those now deceased who tried to shield her. When the smoke cleared, what remained in the clearing intrigued her.
"Toga! It's me! I'm here, kiddo! Please, I'm here!"
Everything hurt so much. Inside and outside. Trying to remain conscious was so much effort as it was. Looking up at the one who was cradling her was a mask that she couldn't quite make out through her fuzzy vision.
"Wh… Who?"
The figure removed their mask. She saw white in the hair and on their chin. Seeing a color scheme on the blurry figure made her think of the one who she wanted to see more than anybody in the entire world. A man who she was certain was her family more than her blood relatives. Who she wanted to return to and just live her life as if they were the one who raised her from the start.
"It's me! Please! I'm here, kiddo! I'm here! Oh my goodness, please forgive me for leaving you behind like this!"
Her hand went to touch the facial hair she knew to be nobody else's but Nakamura's. It was more she could have asked for in her final moments. Seeing her as she was only broke Haru's heart for how Toga was now a brutalized mess for being involved with the Liberation Army. An army he was going to punish today.
"... Haru-san… I c… can't believe it… You…"
"I'm here! Yes, I'm here! I'm so sorry!"
Tears were leaking out the corners of Haru's eyes as he was looking at the child he failed to protect. All he wanted was to protect her in her time of need. It was the least he could do for leaving her in this dangerous situation.
"... N-no… I'm sorry… I knew you wanted… to help, but…"
There was a sadness in her eyes as she unveiled her insecurities to the one man she thought of as family in her dark world. A truth that reached deep into Nakamura's heart.
"I was… I didn't know if… I was good enough… So, I wanted… wanted to do something… I dunno what it was… anymore… P-please… It hurts… It hurts so much…"
His reason to stand back was gone. Toga asked for him to help her, so he will do so without hesitation. Off in the background in the meantime was Chitose picking herself off the ground with the help of the other members of the Liberation Army. This interruption was an annoyance she wanted to address.
"Well then. Now who the hell ar-"
A wave of paralytic fear washed over the entire field. From out of nowhere, every single person in the area was unable to even move anymore. The air itself became an underwater prison that was suffocating everyone unfortunate enough to be too close to the source of the fear. Some were even passing out from the immense pressure overtaking all the people who were surrounding the man grieving over the injured girl in his arms.
Nobody could understand what was going on. It was just one man. It was as if they were all tied down as they were forced to watch the thing that was about to kill them do so without their resistance in account.
Looking up at the woman responsible for the girl's injuries, Chitose saw something that was nothing short of the abyss staring her down. Something that was looking at her as their next chew toy.
"... Men."
Several of the liberation forces suddenly approached the man and bowed in his presence. A phenomenon that nobody could understand.
"Get her into a medivac and stabilized…"
The mask he wore before was reequipped as the people who he commanded left with the girl. Nobody could have predicted what was about to happen next. What was about to happen was not anything that one person had any right to be capable of.
Elsewhere
Re-destro, Ridiya with a villain title, Had Shigaraki in his grasp. Tomura had his left hand eviscerated with only his pinky and ring finger still intact. What left Shigaraki in such a sorry state was the quirk that Ridiya possessed himself.
It was a strange sort of ability that was unique in its function. His body was able to become enlarged and powered up according to the amount of stress he stores up. Right now, he had the emotionally unstable young man by the injured hand he tore off the first three digits off of. Just as he was about to tear off the rest of the hand in his enlarged fingers, the tip of his index finger was suddenly starting to crumble.
He had no choice but to send Tomura flying with a devastating blow to keep the rest of his hand from crumbling apart. An entire neighborhood was cleaved in half with the force of his attack. The growth of his body was blackened with disproportionate growth of his physique. A top heavy build with arms the width of his waist at the same ratio of his own waist in his enlarged form.
There was something Re-destro noticed about Tomura that suddenly changed. Something was occupying the young man's mind as he was starting to recollect his past. The family he almost forgot about. His real family.
His grandparents were normal people. Kind and doting on their dear grandchild whenever they spent time together. A sister that was mischievous, but always wanting to be with her little brother. And a mother with a kind disposition. There was a great amount of love in this family that he once knew of. Except…
Except…
The memories hurt, but they were returning. What he did and who his father was that pushed the boy as he did. So much abuse over problems that were never Tenko's to begin with. A parent who forced his frustrations and insecurities upon their own child. Someone who made their child crumble into a pile of dust that was left to the broken viewpoint of their selfish mistakes. Circumstances that left the boy broken beyond all belief. Mistakes that were out of the child's control.
Until…
There was something else he was struggling to remember. Something important.
As Tomura was standing there with a vacant stare in the middle of the rubble, Gigantomachia came charging through the city. He heard his master's voice call to him and command him to find Tomura in the city. Nobody could stop the living mountain that bulldozed everything in its way.
This distraction gave Tomura a moment to remember something after that misery. A small flame in the pitch black of his past that he walked towards. Getting closer, the shattered memories were slowly reassembling right before him.
This was it. What he wanted to know from the man he couldn't quite remember. What were pieces were now starting to reassemble into coherent memories. Memories that protected the little humanity that the man nurtured from the depths of a young child's misery.
