"St. Louis Smash!"

A kick that Nine was once again barely able to guard against landed dead center of the barrier that barely was able to stop the full brunt of the blow.

Nine was now incredibly interested in Izuku's quirk. This teenage boy was able to drive back a well experienced adult in battle with their quirk; and from what he saw, this was just the beginning of their potential. Their power in his hands would be a boon that would launch him into the stratosphere.

His hand launched forward in a carefully timed counter to start draining Izuku of his quirk. Not even a word was spared as Nine was beginning his process to start draining Izuku of his quirk. Right as he was starting to siphon Midoriya of his quirk; something odd was beginning to occur.

The more he was pulling at the power, something was starting to pull against his efforts. Pulling back against the quirk still wasn't enough to free him from whatever was starting to drag him farther in.

On the other end of things, Izuku was struggling to break free from the villain's grasp. Nine had the teen's head in his hand with no intention of letting go until he sucked out every bit of One for All from the boy.

?

Rain like a hailstorm was pelting down on Nine as he was now finding himself in a strange black void.

The ground and gravity were all he could perceive in the emptiness after being suddenly dragged into this mysterious space. Getting his bearings did little to actually help orient the man to his current situation. All around Nine was nothing but a black void with rain pelting down on him like a waterfall.

Nothing but pitch black greeted the villain's vision. Looking around, there was nothing but a heavy downpour of black rain as far as the eye can see.

Taking a moment to scan the area, all Nine could see was the faint outline of someone ahead of him being traced by the downpour. Their outline was the only thing visible to the man. He couldn't react fast enough as the mystery silhouette suddenly appeared at arm's length in front of him and grasped at Nine's neck before submerging the man into the shin high water. The villain didn't even get a chance to draw a last breath before he was suddenly suffocating in the inky water he was beginning to drown in.

Clawing at the arms of who was submerging him into the water did little to help Nine escape. Air kept escaping his lungs as the one submerging him kept throttling his head to get the villain to let out air. Screams that were muted by the water escaped Nine's throat as he was slowly fading away from the agonizing lack of oxygen.

Little by little, another type of utter darkness was starting to swallow him whole…

Current Time

Both Izuku and Nine were blown back from whatever the villain had attempted to do to Izuku. While he was still grunting as he tried to free himself from the ground he was lodged in; Midoriya looked to still be in fighting condition.

From out of the forest, Nine was in less of a positive mood. Nothing but hacking and coughing from the man could be heard as he struggled to reorient himself. Izuku could have sworn that he even saw the man vomit up black liquid from where he stood.

The mask that was yanked free for a brief moment was returned to Nine's face as he was zeroing in on the boy who's quirk he failed to steal. Whatever caused the failure of the quirk theft followed Nine to the real world to a certain degree. Both lungs were on fire while his body was desperately trying to identify whatever tried to kill Nine by drowning him. Needless to say; he was grasping at straws when he finally came to.

Not even Izuku could explain what had just happened as he was trying to reorient himself with reality. Coming to; Midoriya could see that the villain he was up against had now put Izuku as their main focus.

Getting back on his feet was the first thing Izuku needed to do. It felt like the world was rocking back and forth like a fishing boat, but he still had the function of his faculties. Both arms were back up and squared off against the man who failed to steal One for All from Midoriya. Now it was clear to the teen that this man had abilities similar to All for One.

What he didn't know was what had occurred while Nine had tried to steal the quirk that Izuku inherited.

Nine couldn't make heads or tails of Izuku's quirk anymore. What had seemed to be an extremely powerful enhancement type ability almost tried to kill him when he tried to take it for himself. So for the time being Nine elected to just focus on the original task ahead and raised his hand to begin generating a blast of force to get rid of Izuku.

Behind Izuku, outside of the trees, Katsuma and Mahoro were still looking into the treeline for any sign of their rescuer. They failed to run away out of their concern for Midoriya and his life. That man felt like someone who would burn down the island to get his hands on whatever he wanted.

There was an explosion from inside of the forest that hiked up to the heavens. Even the children couldn't believe how tall the pillar of dust reached before something suddenly flew out of the treeline and collided with the grassy slope they stood upon.

After the dust settled, both siblings were greeted with the sight of Izuku crouched in a small crater formed by the sheer force he had been thrown with. Taking a moment to collect himself, Izuku shook his legs free of the shock and stepped outside of the shallow pit he was in.

Coming out of the forest, the villain who destroyed the children's home kept his walking pace and never broke his stride while doing so.

How it was that Izuku managed to hold his own against such a powerful looking villain was beyond the siblings. Even Nine had to acknowledge that this boy countered his attack with another kick expertly. What this young man lacked in experience was more than compensated by the training he must have undergone to become so capable as a combatant. Whoever trained this boy trained him well.

Admiration aside, Nine was short on time. Given the time he allotted to his henchmen, Nine was starting to run the clock dry. Not another moment could be wasted on a petty fight between him and a teenage hero fresh out of academy.

Midoriya saw the villain he was up against begin to take aim with their finger extended outwards. Though it was subtle; Izuku could tell that this next attack wasn't actually aimed at him.

Rather than Izuku, the villain's aim looked to be off to Midoriya's left. It dawned on the teen that Nine didn't intend to hit the young man. His new target was the children behind his left flank.

With how noble and caring the young hero seemed to be, Nine could tell that the boy cared deeply for the wellbeing of the innocent. A kindness that the villain exploited to get the young hero out of his way.

Before he could even register what had happened, Izuku was in terrible pain as Nine shot him in the abdomen with some sort of projectile from the fingertips. The purple lasers that pierced his sides veered off from their original trajectories enough to leave the sibling's unharmed. Falling to the ground, Izuku now had two puncture wounds that went clean through his abdomen.

Things were now looking dire for the defensive party. Struggling to get back on his feet, Midoriya gave it his all to stand back up to defend the children from this villain.

Mahoro felt like a cornered animal. As Nine kept approaching the children, she acted on instinct and did something rather extreme to help Midoriya in any way possible. An enormous illusion that was a caricature of Izuku sporting a bleeding head wound erupted from her, towering over the forest as the little girl began to call out for help.

Almost everyone on the island could see and hear the child's call for help. A cry that was to be answered sooner than expected.

From his left, Nine instinctively erected a barrier just in time to block an earth shattering explosion. When the smoke settled, the one responsible for the surprise attack was revealed to be none other than Bakugou Katsuki.

"Found you!"

Katsuki had arrived just in the nick of time. It interested Nine to see another young teen with such a powerful quirk coming to their friend's aid. Perhaps this quirk could become his after the failure to retrieve Izuku's.

For Bakugou, this guy was just another villain for him to take down. Another pelting of explosive blasts from above as he launched himself into the air demolished the earth all around Nine. Izuku tried to get back up with little success. Even though the wounds were small and seemingly missed any organs, there still were two holes bored through his abs. It took a great deal of effort for him to even remain standing.

Back at the fight, Bakugou had just been hit with a sudden blast of air that shot him into the earth below. Dirt and dust erupted from where he landed painfully onto his back.

Taking a moment to collect himself, Katsuki stumbled back to his feet with a snarl on his face. It was clear that this villain had several quirks to defend and attack with at the drop of a hat. Getting inside of their defenses looked to be one hell of a challenge for the young hero. Changing tactics, Bakugou went low and launched himself forward with a series of propulsion blasts.

Right on cue, the gold barrier that Nine used to protect himself was aimed right at Katsuki. It seemingly had its limitations when it was conjured up, since the villain never actually moved the shield around freely after he created it. A weakness that Bakugou exploited by immediately spinning on his heels to duck to the side and launch another volley of explosions.

This would have worked, had the villain not been equipped with even more abilities than expected. A blue dragon-like creature suddenly sprouted from Nine's body to catch Katsuki just as the teen was about to counter the man.

He was once again slammed painfully into the ground with the added bonus of a set of jaws starting to crush his ribs.

If he didn't do something to escape the jaws of this monster, Bakugou could kiss his lungs goodbye. Another large blast enveloped the villain yet again as the trapped teen went for broke to try and get at least one attack in on the multiple quirk user.

All the smoke and dust gave Izuku the perfect opportunity to try and blindside the villain from the front. Just like before, Nine had his choice of counters to shut down the persistent heroes getting in his way.

Both arms went up while a stormcloud started to form out of nowhere. Before Izuku could connect his kick to his intended target, both teenage boys were struck with a bolt of lightning. Deadly amounts of amps coarse through their bodies, dealing an enormous amount of trauma and damage throughout every inch of their bodies. Nine looked down on the two brave heroes before turning around to return to his original objective.

"W-wait…"

They weren't completely knocked out just yet. Each leg had the still conscious teens latched onto them. Even at their complete loss, these two refused to give up on the safety of the children.

The siblings were forced to watch as Nine emitted another explosive blast to send the teenage heroes flying backwards. He was starting to lose his patience with these two youths getting in his way. Now that they were taken care of, Nine turned once again to get his hands on the frightened children in possession of the quirk he desired for himself.

Out of nowhere, something collided with Nine's left arm and flung the villain to the dirt. Coming to a stop after tumbling for a bit, he shook his head free of the dizziness to see what had hit him like a dump truck.

To his absolute dismay, one of the wolves he knew to be under Huntsman's command was now snarling at him with its teeth bared. The other two siblings were right behind their brother with their fangs on display. Huntsman stood in silence as he was writing in his notepad to say something to the stunned villain.

Turning the pad around revealed to Nine that the deal that was brokered between his employer and the villain was off. It seemed to be that Nine had violated the terms that the sponsor set for their agreement. Going after a civilian was skirting the line, but getting children involved hit the last coffin nail on the head.

"... Very well. I certainly don't need you now. All I need is that boy's quirk anyways; and you are powerless to stop me…"

He charged up his powers as Huntsman armed himself with his weapon. It startled the children to see the wolves start to suddenly glow with a silver light with gold teeth radiating from their maws. They were unaware that animals were even capable of possessing their own quirks.

Meanwhile, Izuku and Katsuki were barely able to sit up as the villains were starting to fall into some sort of infighting. Midoriya could barely breathe with the wounds in his torso making the blunt force trauma all the more unbearable. Checking on Katsuki, his childhood friend didn't look any better for wear.

A few ribs were cracked from the bite Nine had caught Bakugou with. He was unable to even move with the fractures in his ribcage.

"Ikki!"

Mina finally arrived on the scene after witnessing the call for help Mahoro sent out to the entire island. She panicked at the sight of Izuku being the one in need of help and ignored everything else to come to his aid. Looking over the two beaten classmates filled her with dread over how they got to such sorry states of injury.

"Oh my god, Ikki! Are you okay?! How badly are you hurt?!"

"Eh-heh… I don't think we'll be able to have any fun anytime soon…"

Since he was still able to make stupid jokes like that, it seemed that the pain was the worst of it. Giving Izuku a once over revealed to Mina the extent of his injuries. The two puncture wounds through his torso worried Mina to death, so she administered basic first aid by using her sticky slime to at least seal up the wounds enough until proper first aid could be administered.

Looking over to the two villains, Izuku could tell things were about to get ugly between these two nameless criminals. Those wolves looked to be real pieces of work with their glowing fur and fangs illuminating their bodies.

Tension had already mounted to extreme levels when Midoriya started paying attention to the situation between the villains. Huntsman lunged forward with his wolves moving just as quickly to surround Nine. He charged dead on while the animals were going into the exposed blindspots for an ambush.

The same gold shield was produced to block the man coming to attack Nine head on. Rather than just one serpent, two were produced to address the three wolves going in for the kill from behind.

Without hesitation, two of the wolves being targeted by the blue dragon heads evaded the gaping jaws before sinking their teeth into the necks of the conjured creatures. From above, the third wolf began to spin in the air before colliding with the head of one of the monsters. An impact that was audible enough to hurt the ears of the children did quite a bit of damage to the hardened skull of the summoned beast. Cracks in the outer shell of the serpent's cerulean skull plate and sent the beast crashing into the earth.

Nine had his hands full with Huntsman to properly address the successful attack of the trained wolves. What he hadn't expected from the masked hunter was to see his barrier shatter like a windowpane with a single strike with the butt of the rifle Huntsman owned. He immediately swapped to firing lasers out of his fingertips to create some space between himself and Huntsman.

This only spurred Huntsman to increase speed to close the distance. Avoiding the shots, he ducked low to allow the shots to pass over him harmlessly. A shoulder check buried itself into Nine's stomach and sent the villain flying backwards into the grass. The two serpent heads dissolved as Nine tumbled to the dirt once more before coming to a stop.

Getting back up was easier said than done. It felt like the tackle buried itself deep enough into Nine's abdomen for the shoulder to touch his spine. Nursing his stomach, he got back up to face the man who was currently double crossing his mission.

Neither the young heroes nor the innocent children could make heads or tails of the situation. Bakugou and Mina knew that this guy and his wolves were responsible for blowing up a police station. They were confused to see him and someone who looked to be his ally now starting to go at it with one another.

Things were not looking good for Nine. This sudden betrayal put him in a compromising situation when he was so close to his objective. If the situation didn't change for the better, then he…

Pain radiated throughout Nine's body from out of nowhere. Falling to his knees, the villain could only sit where he fell while being completely defenseless.

"Nine!"

Showing up out of the blue, a woman with scarlet red hair came to Nine's aid. She checked on her leader's condition before he told her about Huntsman's betrayal. All that mattered now was that they got the boy.

Her scarlet strands came to life and transformed into sharpened blades as she identified the boy she was tasked in retrieving. Getting between her and the boy were the wolves that were now baring their teeth at the woman. If she wanted to get to the child, she would have to contend with three very dangerous animals acting as guard dogs for the young children.

"... You bastard! Get these fucking mutts out of the way!"

Huntsman's response to her demands simply consisted of him taking aim at the woman with his gun. Handling hero trainees was one thing, going up against a trained killer was another matter altogether. Any misstep on her part could end with both her and Nine dead on the floor.

Arriving on the scene were other students from UA. Mina got the other's attention for their help in getting the injured and innocent out of there. Ochaco and Tsuyu along with Mezo grabbed those in need of help while making a break for it. The villainess couldn't stop the escape with Huntsman and his dogs cutting her off.

As the heroes were escaping, the last thing they heard from behind them was the sounds of explosions and gunfire.

Nabu Island Beach

Chimera heard Nine on the comm link to come assist the fight against Huntsman as he still had the young heroes at his mercy. This fight took less importance than the one that was caused by a betrayal of one of their own. By the sounds of it, Nine truly did need as much help as possible.

"Che… Consider yourselves lucky, you little shits."

Almost every student that had been locked in battle with the animal hybrid of a man were at their limits. In comparison, Chimera didn't even look as though he was breaking a sweat. Iida stopped Todoroki from giving chase, seeing that there were other pressing matters that needed all their efforts.

It was a loss. For now, all the heroes could do is lick their wounds and assist the civilians strewn throughout the island.
