Going back to the dorms, Izuku couldn't help how charming it was that Bakugou kept looking at the contact id of Fuyumi on his phone. He'd never seen his friend act like he did back at the Todoroki's home at any point in their friendship. For the first time in his entire life; Bakugou seemed genuinely nervous after meeting the older woman.

The road had been sparsely populated with very little traffic blocking the way back to UA. It had been easy for the driver to start noticing that something stood in the middle of the road. His headlights illuminated the object as he finally got close enough for the figure to be completely caught in the beams. He barely managed to turn the wheel in time to drift around the lunatic that stood directly in front of a speeding car.

In an almost perfect C shape, the car eventually stopped on the opposite side of the costumed villain hellbent on getting Endeavor's attention. What caught the attention of the hero wasn't the villain itself, but what he had entrapped in a human sized bundle of paint that wrapped itself around someone he knew.

Captured by the villain had been nobody else but Natsu, his son.

Only his son's face could be seen as the young man struggled against his bindings. There was no time to think for the hero as they launched themself out of the car to fly towards the villain.

"Do you remember me, Endeavor?!"

Having a good memory for enemies made it easy to recall who this crazed murderer was. Seven years have passed since he sent this maniac to the slammer. By the look of things, the time spent in prison only made whatever sent him over the deep end all those years ago only got worse. If his memory still stood, the villain's name was…

"That's right, hero! Remember the name Ending! The man who has nothing left to lose!"

Hostage situations were incredibly sticky affairs that were prone to becoming ugly in the blink of an eye if one got careless. One needed a clear head and stalwart will to handle such complicated affairs; something that Endeavor lacked at the moment.

Seeing Natsu in danger sent his brain into overdrive with all sorts of nasty possibilities that could happen if he didn't get his son out of there in time. Ending was well of his rocker to kidnap Natsu, though his demands really weren't those of ransom for wealth or personal gain. A specific demand that only the least sane would desire spilled out of the almost incoherent mouth of the villain.

"You want your son back?! Then finish what you started all those years ago! This time, you best kill me if you can…"

All this guy wanted was a suicide via hero assault. This was nothing short of absolute insanity. Ending kept shouting how his life compared to that of the Nomu that were being eradicated by the heroes. Gibberish over the loss of his life's purpose were all that the villain could obsess over as he kept threatening Natsu with violence.

"So stop wasting time and us-"

Just then, something came roaring down the street from behind Ending. He went flying towards Endeavor with something that hit him in the back at speeds well over the speed limit. Fearing for Natsu, Endeavor ignored the villain that went crashing into the sidewalk along with whatever hit him. He desperately scanned for the bundle that had his son trapped in it. For some reason, he couldn't find it anywhere near the villain that had it in their possession.

"Natsu, you okay?"

Turning to where Ending stood before getting hit, Endeavor couldn't believe his eyes as Haru cut Natsu out of his bindings with a curved knife.

"... Yeah. I think nothing's wrong. Thanks, Haru-san."

There were a multitude of questions for the hero over how on earth this man managed to not only locate Natsu, but rescue them as well from the clutches of a formidable villain.

Several Minutes Earlier

Exiting the room with Touya's shrine, Haru entered the kitchen where Fuyumi was seated with a book and a cup of tea. Looking around questioningly got the woman curious as to what he was looking for.

"Have you seen Natsu? We were going to have a few more drinks at a bar before I dropped him off. Did he leave early?"

She shook her head no at the question regarding her brother's location. A few calls through the house yielded no results. He then checked his phone for a moment, which caused Nakamura to then start bolting for the door.

Fuyumi couldn't understand why Haru suddenly started making a mad dash for the front door. Following him out front, She saw him start revving up a black motorcycle next to his van as he shouted over his shoulder over the roar of his motorbike's engine.

"I'll be back! Just wait here!"

Tires screeched down the street and into the darkness, leaving Fuyumi rather perplexed over one thing in particular.

"... Didn't he come here in his van?"

Elsewhere

Racing past the cars going at a significantly slower speed than his bike, Nakamura brought up a display in his helmet to show where Natsu's location was via the gps on his phone. The blip that kept traveling in a very unnatural path through the city started to get closer as he drove through the streets at a superior speed.

He didn't know why the college student was taken, nor did he care. Getting the young man back took priority over everything else at that moment in time.

The gps signal stopped in the middle of the road a few blocks from where he was. Another twist of the gas sent the man into near blinding speeds down the road. Now there were no turns left between him and whoever took Natsu.

Approaching at deadly speeds, Haru could see that a villain with some sort of ability to control white paint had Natsu trapped in a human sized bundle of the stuff. Reaching behind him, Nakamura pulled out his knife in preparation of what he was about to do next. Everything then devolved into a few seconds of pure chaos as Haru drove his motorbike directly into the unsuspecting villain's back.

Before colliding, leaping off the bike gave Haru enough air to grab the fabric that held up Natsu in the air. A few swift slashes released the villain's control over the fabric and allowed Haru to catch the young man as the paint went limp.

As he checked up on Natsu, all three UA students that were temporarily trapped by the paint that Ending wrapped the car in managed to wrench the door open after he was struck with a speeding motorbike. Much to the driver's relief, they didn't need to blow open a window to escape the vehicle.

They managed to escape the vehicle right as Endeavor went to embrace Natsu. His son didn't fight back against the embrace as the father genuinely hugged his son after thinking that he would lose him then and there.

Nakamura had other things to be concerned about. Letting the father and son reunite, he started walking towards the villain that struggled to get back on their feet. Having a motorbike traveling at over one hundred and fifty kilometers an hour would hurt like hell for any normal person. This villain was anything but ordinary.

"Fucker! Who the hell are you?!"

To say he was angry was quite the understatement. Nothing but red shrouded his eyes as he stared down the man who got in the way of his glorious ending. That man then stopped short before reaching into his leather jacket to pull out some steel knuckle dusters. They leisurely slipped on the melee tools before hitting one against another, producing sparks as he did so.

"Fucked off is what I am…"

There was a chill in the air as Ending started to feel his arms tremble. Everybody watched as Nakamura suddenly started to look menacing as he stared down the villain that tried to threaten Endeavor with Natsu's life.

Nobody else saw the frigid glare he pinned Ending down with as they found themselves unable to move from the spot. Even if he could move, that made no difference to Haru. This guy couldn't get away from him if he even wished for it.

"So shut the fuck up and take your beating, you stupid shit."

From there, it devolved into a one sided brutalization of the villain that tried to get Endeavor to kill him with physical violence. Getting the first strike in had been no issue for Haru, even with a range disadvantage. A single uppercut straight into Ending's face sent him flying back. His trip through the air was cut short when a single strip of fabric that Haru grabbed then pulled the villain back into Nakamura.

Another solid cross into the villain's face actually knocked out several teeth as their head violently struck the concrete. All that punishment still hadn't knocked out Ending, which then led into a flurry of attacks from the disoriented villain.

Trying to stop the bleeding from his mouth, Ending tried to crawl away as his fabric kept trying to hit the man assaulting him with nothing but his fists. So many attacks were launched at Haru, though those watching started to notice something about the fight. What stuck out was how little damage the one dodging the attacks actually seemed to be receiving. In fact, he looked as though he dodged every single strike effortlessly.

Izuku, Bakugou, and Shoto were the most taken aback by what they were seeing. This was probably the first time they had ever seen their mentor take a fight seriously in their entire lives. Sparring and learning fighting techniques from Nakamura never gave them the full context of his actual skill level. They only knew that he possessed a great deal of experience without actually watching him demonstrate that skill.

None of Ending's slices even touched Haru as he slowly kept moving closer and closer to the injured villain. During the entire time that Nakamura kept bobbing and ducking out of danger's way, his stare pierced into the scared man trying to kill the man coming for his neck.

"Y-you freak! Stay away! Stay away from me!"

Contradicting his earlier death wish, fear overcame his common senses as Haru kept taking one step at a time towards Ending. An instinctive response that overrode all logical sense of the villain now begging for his life.

It intimidated all the UA students to see someone who was quirkless be so adept in combat. Their quirks were powerful and gave them the ability to fend off even the most intimidating of foes, yet they still couldn't imagine themselves winning against Haru in a fight. That speed and strength didn't come from some special inane ability he was given from birth, he developed all of his abilities in order to survive. None of their advantages were given to Nakamura and he still felt unbeatable to all of them.

Another hard strike with his left jab disoriented the villain enough for him to grab them by the front of their outfit and throw them hard against the concrete behind Haru. Ending went tumbling for a few meters before finally skidding to a stop. Almost every protruding bone in his face sported a crack from the beating he received from Haru. He looked back at Nakamura with terror in his eyes as the man starting walking menacingly towards the broken Ending.

"Help! Somebody Help! Please!"

This started to drag for a few people in the crowd; especially for the three UA students. Practically begging for it to stop, Ending pathetically used the one arm that wasn't dislocated to try and escape the man intent on delivering more punishment.

"Begging? After all the shit you pull; you start begging for your life like a bitch in heat for some dog cock? Come now…"

Steel buried itself into the back end of Ending. What Haru aimed for in reality was the tailbone. A sickening crack could be heard before Ending started screaming in agony. All he could do was scream and lie still to minimize the pain he was in.

"Where's all that bravado from earlier? All that obsession for someone to kill you over your lack of worth? What drove you to kidnap Natsu and threaten to kill him? Now you're just a scared little bitch. That begging is nothing but the yelps of a worthless animal who doesn't know any better!"

Everybody saw Haru slowly approach the terrified villain. Only the five close enough to hear him could see how terrifying Nakamura could be.

Midoriya couldn't believe his father figure was capable of being so twisted. He saw his lifelong mentor act like a hunter toying with their prey. It actually caused his hand to start shivering involuntarily as Haru gave off the cruel atmosphere he did. Izuku didn't recognize the beast that was licking its chops at the sight of helpless prey.

"Haru-san! It's okay! I'm okay!"

Breaking the tension, Natsu yelled to Haru to snap out of his rage induced trance. He didn't want to see the one who treated him like a son act like a devil.

"It's okay! Please. You can stop…"

Without another word, Nakamura started to straighten up and take off the steel knuckles to return them into his jacket. He silently went to retrieve his motorbike, which he ran over the still injured Ending with as he walked over the man. The helmet found itself back upon Haru's head as he started up the engine to return to the van he still left parked outside of the Todoroki household.

Left behind on the streets were the speechless UA students, who saw something they never thought possible.

Nobody could say anything in reaction to what they saw in their mentor. So much hatred and anger manifesting itself like that didn't even seem feasible for a person to be capable of. Seeing the one they saw as their lifelong guiding mentor become so twisted and terrifying changed something in all of them.

What it changed still evaded them.

Later

"Attacked?! When?"

Meeting the rest of her family at the hospital; Fuyumi couldn't believe her ears at the sudden turn of events that involved Natsu. Considering he was unharmed, things looked to be in the best version of what could have passed. A sentiment that Natsu didn't quite share with the rest of his family.

"... Sis. Haru… He… He did it again. He got angry and… A-all because…"

Years ago, when Haru beat Endeavor senselessly in front of the family estate, young Natsu watched from the house as his sister held hands with Nakamura as he came out of his wrath induced rampage. He would never forget the look of sheer agony and sorrow on the man's face as Fuyumi comforted Haru with that one hand hold.

The rain falling that day didn't disguise the tears in Nakamura's eyes as he realized how powerless he was in helping the family he felt he failed.

Now Natsu started to tear up when he recalled how pained Haru looked as he retrieved his helmet from where he left it. A look of shame and anguish over losing himself over to his rage. Having to know that people he loved saw him at his worst.

A large hand came down on Natsu's head and rubbed the young man's hair to comfort the young man over an incident that wasn't his fault. Endeavor said something that genuinely caught his children off guard. He genuinely defended Nakamura's actions.

"He was scared for you, son. All he ever does is care about those he loves, like you two. So don't hold it against him or yourself. He did what he did because he cares about you."

They didn't expect their father to genuinely defend Nakamura in any capacity. What caused the shift in the opinion of Endeavor over the man he once hated with every fiber of his being was when he just sat next to him in silence.

Years of abuse gave Endeavor a lot to reconsider after what he put his family through. Looking out the corner of his eye, he slowly started to see why Nakamura hated the hero so much. All he could see in Nakamura's eyes was the pain of Touya's passing. Endeavor might as well have been non-existent to him as he sat in front of the shrine. That hatred was only a byproduct of the sorrow he felt over the suffering that the rest of the hero's family went through. Nakamura personally never gave a shit about the abusive father.

"I'm going to build a new house that will make things easier for you and your mother to reach each other."

Such a generous act from their father confused Fuyumi for a moment. She couldn't fathom why her father would do something so drastic.

"But… Why? What about you?"

Too much history that painted him as a cruel man weighed down his spirit. This was just as much for him as it was for the family he wished to make atone for.

"... I'm staying at the old estate."

The Next Week

Returning for their next week of internship had a lot less enthusiasm from the last time they arrived at the agency. Not even the passionate welcome back from the other sidekicks could lift the spirits of Izuku, Bakugou, and Shoto. Their minds were still hung over what they saw Nakamura do just a few days ago. What they saw their mentor do to that villain couldn't be forgotten by any of them.

Putting on their costumes and reporting for their assigned duties, Endeavor had something different planned for the three UA students now back for the second week of their internship. He assigned his sidekicks with their usual tasks before pulling the teens aside.

"You three, come with me."

They followed the hero through the agency until they eventually arrived in a high tech training room with all sorts of obstacles jutting out of the walls and floor. There were even some gentlemen in black suits standing by with tablets in their arms being used to record whatever data they needed to analyze.

Reason why these men were here in this training room with the boys was that they were people from the government to assess the boy's performance for a very unique team being assembled. This second week of the internship program would entail them possibly being recruited for the World Hero Alliance. Something that many nations around the world were looking to create after the recent threat of a possible terrorist organization.

The basic gist of the evaluation they were undergoing would grade the student's ability to think critically and react to their opponent accordingly. Time limit to undergo this assessment would be five minutes. Their goal?

That answer came in the form of seventeen ESD officers that all poured into the room from the side doors. They all stood in formation as a solid unit to await their next orders.

"These officers will be tasked with taking you into custody. If you can evade capture for the duration of the exercise while scoring a satisfactory score, we will be placing you into the alliance. Is this understood?"

One of the examiners disclosed the terms of the assessment in one tight explanation. All three of the students were starting to feel a bit nervous at the prospect of having to go up against these professionals. Shoto himself knew the skill level of these officers personally after being choked out when he faced off against just a single one of them. These officers were all geared up and looking to take them all in.

Worse than just that, a familiar looking case had been rolled out for the ESD officers. Even more intimidating pieces of tech were all being given to the officers on top of their standard gear and weapons.

"Don't worry too much about possible injuries. These officers have been equipped with non-lethal rounds and have been instructed to avoid inflicting any serious form of injury."

Translation; this was going to fucking hurt.

Steeling themselves, the trio all agreed to the terms before the examiners and Endeavor exited the room to watch from the observation room. The boys had about two minutes to prepare themselves before the final countdown. They went over a brief strategy before placing themselves in different sections of the large space. If they wanted to succeed, this would require everything they had in their repertoire of experience and power to evade capture.

Time was called for the final thirty seconds until the exercise would start. Tensions were high as the seconds were counted down. Fifteen seconds then became ten, then five…

"Three, two, one, start."

Immediately out of the gate was Katsuki. He came down from above to target the center of the group that the ESD were standing in. He mercilessly started things off with a volley of powerful ranged blasts that shook the room with each concussive blast.

"Rapid Fire HV Concussion Shots!"

It startled Izuku to watch his childhood friend go straight for the kill right out the gate. Worried that he could seriously put the officers into the hospital, Izuku stood back until the attack finally ended. Smoke cloaked the area in a cloud of black that nobody could see through. Bakugou felt rather confident in his preemptive strike, though that was quickly shot down when he suddenly got shot down quite literally from where he landed.

Emerging out of the smoke were the ESD officers who were still very much alive and out to take on the young UA students. Katsuki had to take cover and catch his breath after taking so many rubber rounds in the chest and stomach. He could already feel the bruises starting to take shape in his body as he tried to mentally recover from the unexpected pain.

Izuku and Todoroki were already too busy with their own opponents to try and provide support to their fellow classmate. Shoto tried to launch an ice wall to encase the officers, which they were well prepared to counter.

The ice almost reached the several officers advancing with weapons drawn when his ice got cut short with several detonations from the grenades they tossed earlier. Ice showered down from the ceiling as Shoto covered his face from the initial blast. Peeking through his arms let him react fast enough to the sight of three officers about to tackle him with their riot shields. Using his flames, he sent a wave of fire to try and get them to back off.

They didn't stop for even a split second. Their clear shields slammed the boy violently into the wall behind him while pinning him under the crushing weight of the ESD officers' surprising strength.

Midoriya had to leap backwards and reassess his approach. His biggest advantage was his lack of range against armed opponents. Another issue was how defensive the phalanx proved to be as they advanced on his position. Without much other option, Izuku just said fuck it to the consequences and launched his kick to create a wave of force.

"Delaware Smash!"

It did manage to hold them back as the attack hit the defensive line of riot shields. A brief moment of victory that was quickly followed up with a volley of rapid gunfire that Midoriya had to dodge like his life depended on it. Although managing to avoid most of the projectiles, Izuku got punished with several painful shots into his right thigh and left ribs.

Up above the chaos, Endeavor and the examiners were all studying the students fending off the officers out to get them. The hero could see the boys react appropriately to their opponents, though they would need more than that if they wished to pass this exam.

More than that, what impressed Endeavor even more was how quick and efficient these officers continued to be at all times of the day. Tight teamwork accompanied by critical thinking that yielded results exceeded anything his sidekicks could do with each other. None of the officers allowed any action to go to waste when taking on an opponent. Even the beating they were receiving from the boys proved how resilient each individual officer was in their own right. That one kick from Izuku would easily put any other villain in the hospital, yet the defense hadn't faltered to do their jobs.

Katsuki needed to keep his range on the officers out to apprehend him. He could probably manage with a mid ranged fight, but close range was completely the ESD's territory. Todoroki already allowed them to come too close and now had his back literally against the wall. He leapt from the high ground he had and took aim at the officers below. His quick reactions also allowed him to see that there was something off with the number of officers that were after him.

Last he counted, there were six officers trying to take him down. Now there were only four in front of him. From behind, several more shots hit Bakugou in his lower back. They managed to distract the explosion user enough to flank him from his position by keeping their gunfire trained on him as two officers rounded the alcove he took shelter behind.

He flipped midair and flew to another ledge to launch another attack, covering his escape with an explosion that engulfed the officers below in a fireball. At this point, he knew that anything less than almost lethal wouldn't be enough to keep these guys at bay.

Shoto pushed the officers pinning him back by producing an ice pillar to trap their shields and give him the high ground. Fire began to spawn from his left arm when he suddenly felt his footing become violently unstable. Those shields he thought he rendered trapped had a unique function built into them. Several explosive charges could be loaded in from behind and provide all sorts of offensive options. Loading in several blast charges proved to be more than effective in shattering the massive ice pillar from the base of it.

Using ice to make a ramp, Todoroki slid off to the side and used his flames in a concentrated blast to try and split the group up into two manageable chunks. He did manage to buy some time with this tactic, though now the three officers were now bearing down on him one after another. He needed to quickly balance his fire and ice usage if he wanted any hope in engaging these guys in a close range fight.

Meanwhile, Izuku held off his officers by quickly moving and taking on the lead ESD member with one or two powerful strikes. It taxed his stamina and mind immensely to keep up this game of chicken with professionals that were trained to take on people like him.

Needing a new approach, Izuku looked to Shoto and his current predicament. He saw that they were being overwhelmed with the other officers now past the flames blocking their advancement.

"Shoto!"

Right as Todoroki turned, Izuku took the outstretched arm and pulled both him and his classmate out of the fire. They needed to reassess if they wanted to keep themselves from failing this assignment.

Three Minutes Later

All three students were heaving for air and looking beaten to hell while taking shelter in a thick ice dome Todoroki produced for them. At best, it bought them thirty seconds.

"How… How much?..."

"... Four minutes."

Katsuki cursed as the ice started to crack under the force of the blasts that the ESD were using to break through the frozen shelter. They needed to commit in these final moments if they wanted to win. Looking to one another, each of them nodded in acknowledgement of their desperate plan.

Outside of the dome were the officers about to breach the ice wall getting in their way. It finally looked to give away as they all returned to defensive positions in response.

Another blast from within the dome erupted with enough force to send boulders of ice into the walls and ceiling.

"Prominence Flame!"

Heat from Shoto's attack produced steam from the remaining ice as well as engulfing the phalanx that was set up in response to such a possible attack. Now it was Izuku and Bakugou's turn to strike back from behind with their counterattack.

"HV Concussion Shot!"

"St. Louis Smash!"

They couldn't get their attacks off in time when they got shot with more rubber bullets. In order for Izuku and bakugou to get a clear shot, Shoto had to drop his fire a smidge to let them attack the rear. It would have worked if the officers saw through the ploy and opened up their defenses to allow several of their own to take aim at the ambushers. It then became several moments of split second actions that ended with the three boys now being pinned down to the floor with officers cuffing them all.

Three officers were assigned to each boy that got shot down before they could attack. Todoroki had been vulnerable enough after using his attack to be a sitting duck for the officers to apprehend.

All their effort ended in a failure.

Time was called over the intercom. The officers helped the boys up, Katsuki trying to wrench his arm from the officer helping him stand up from the ground. Returning to the room were the examiners and Endeavor. None of the young heroes could look up at the knowledge they failed the exercise.

"... Congratulations, you passed. We will be sending you the necessary paperwork shortly."

Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto couldn't believe their ears. They were certain they failed, yet somehow the examiners saw them as passing students.

"We just add the capture condition as a way to keep you wary. You scored plenty high enough to be seen as fit for the program."

Even Izuku had to bite his tongue out of frustration of all he and his friends went through for the past five minutes. Those rubber bullets and grenades weren't exactly painless when they hit the UA students.

Not looking a gifted horse in the mouth, they all proceeded to complete the necessary paperwork needed for their inclusion into the World Hero Alliance. Of course, after they got patched up for their bruised bodies.
