Deep below the streets of an unsuspecting city, a group of doomsday worshippers convened in a grandiose hall designed to look like some sort of library and cathedral all built into one colossal space. Religious imagery of a dragon had been painted into the domed ceiling far above their heads while the spacious room had a single statue of a golden baby nestled inside of a basket.

Many worshippers stood in formation all around the room as their leader stepped forth to deliver his speech. A man with neon blue skin with dazzling discs adorning his robes of white and red befitted the cult leader's image of being the messenger for his divine message.

"The world saw the birth of quirks as humanity's greatest evolution. A gift that has changed the world for the better. For us to obtain our true potential… Such nonsense of those naive to the true danger this curse has brought upon the world."

Every single member in that room all listened intently to his sermon on the eventual disaster awaiting them if quirks were to continue on their path of evolution. A majority of this group's members were quirkless humans, those who had no natural gifts to speak of in comparison to those who possessed unique abilities.

They were Humarise. An anti-quirk sympathy group that operated all over the nations of the world. Their influence easily held numbers in the thousands with their message of quirks being the downfall of humanity as a whole.

Their leader, a man known as Fleck Hold, possessed a great deal of power from within this organization. His extremist values resonated with those who wanted payback against a world that deemed them as lesser for not possessing a quirk. He now deemed it necessary for his movement to see the light of day. It was now that Humarise was going to put their plans into action to create the world they wanted to come to fruition.

"Humarise must act! Only we possess the ability to rescue the world from certain annihilation! For humanity's salvation!"

Chanting those last three words, the congregation all praised their leader's speech. From out of his robes, a rather ornate dagger was produced. Fleck raised the device up into the air as the chanting grew in strength. At the peak of their chanting, he pressed a button on the hilt of the ceremonial dagger to trigger the first step of his doomsday plans.

Instead of a satisfying sequence of systems activating to release a cloud of deadly gas, the dagger started to beep with a red light flashing on the blade itself.

It slowly dawned on the cult leader that something went wrong. Something has prevented his bomb from being able to activate.

Sneaking through the facility, a man with brown hair and deeply tanned skin followed the hallways while sneaking out a suitcase of some sort. He checked his corners and knew that time was working against him if he couldn't get what he had with him out of the Humarise facility.

His keycard managed to get him outside though an emergency hatch that opened up into thick forests that sat above the Humarise headquarters. He ditched the robes and ran through the forest while following the mobile device he checked for a clear route out of the wilderness. It would cost the lives of millions if he didn't get this package out to the people he needed to reach.

"Damn… Please be there…"

Humarise Science Department

Entering the primary command deck for his gas bomb, the leader started to put his scientists to the fire about why the bomb didn't go off. A lead researcher stuttered a barely coherent explanation that they discovered a key component missing from the bomb itself.

The chemical accelerant that would turn the solution that boosted quirk function had been taken. In fact, all the chemical accelerants were taken from storage.

"S-s-sir, we cannot produce the gas without the accelerant… Without them, the solution would need to be directly injected for any significant result to be noticed… I-I'm sorry…"

That apology didn't save the man from getting his head blown off by one of the lackeys that followed Fleck. He asked those in charge of the system to see why such a valuable resource was taken from right under their noses. Nobody knew, since to access the accelerants, one needed multiple levels of clearance and approvals to even get to the door that led to the room holding the samples.

There was only one logical explanation for this act of theft. Someone outside of the organization had an inside man to steal them from Humarise. To be able to give their insider access without the organization's knowledge meant that they were extremely dangerous to their cause.

It was a race against the clock to start getting those accelerants back. Without them, they would lose everything they worked to accomplish.

Several Days Later

High above the city of Otheon, Several carrier planes filled with heroes were on approach towards a Humarise facility that had been informed to have a chemical bomb capable of wiping out an entire population.

Inside of the planes, a last minute briefing regarding the mission ahead broadcasted through the cargo hold's monitors for the heroes to see any visual details necessary to their raid. Those tasked with the mission were mostly pro heroes already, though three students from a very reputable hero academy were also ready to take on the terrorist organization in their own right.

Izuku, Shoto, and Bakugou checked up on their new stealth costumes for the mission ahead. Their outfits were mostly black with trimming in their preferred colors. Their hoods were capable of being pulled down low while still giving them an ideal amount of periphery. All emergency equipment needed for any emergency situation was placed in an armored container about the size of a thermos on their backs. Materials new on the market were even utilized when creating these unique costumes. Every bit of their costumes were remade from the ground up with this one mission in mind.

Right on cue, the back of the plane started to open up for an aerial drop. The officers designated to assist the heroes already had the entire property surrounded and were awaiting the heroes for the first strike. Pulling up their hoods, Izuku and his friends all got ready to jump out the plane to take down Humarise before they could implement their WMD.

Falling towards their target, all the heroes used their quirks to break their fall before storming the castle. Surrounding the compound, officers of the ESD international bureau were closing in to provide backup.

Hallways of cult followers were all armed with staffs to defend against the raid against the heroes taking them all down. Not a single person they encountered had any abilities of their own, so it was mostly a case of showing restraint more than anything. All Bakugou and Shoto needed to do to take care of the cultists was use non lethal attacks.

"Emergency Security! You're all under arrest!"

The officers took the cultists into custody and swept up those the heroes took down as they were rendered immobile. One hero possessed a sort of omnipotence of her surroundings, so she provided live information for the heroes while the drones that were scanning the building gave more detailed information on the facility. After scanning the building, she started to notice something off about the whole situation. Calling the officers through the radio indeed confirmed what she feared to be true.

Nothing in the entire facility indicated that any of the bombs that Humarise possessed were there.

When given the chance to finally plug in their equipment, the ESD found nothing that indicated that the compound had nothing of note besides being a cult facility. Power draws were found to be at expected levels, even with their generators. Scanning for possible hidden extensions yielded only what they already knew before raiding Humarise. Nothing there indicated where the bombs were being held.

Several Days Later

The UA interns part of the World Heroes Alliance were now being placed on standby until the investigation yielded a new lead for them to follow. For now, being an international hero now meant that they would have to just lay low until their next assignment came up.

First on their list of important tasks was to get some groceries. Their discussion eventually circled onto the subject of their presence in the World Hero Alliance and what they needed to expect as interns on such an important mission. All of them agreed that they did have something to offer to the effort, though it was still too early to say what exactly would entail while they did their job. Questions about the Humarise organization eventually came up.

Whoever they were, it didn't seem like this very influential organization had goals of planting trees or praying to some space god of some kind. Izuku could still remember the mad rantings of that villain that Hawk arrested back in Japan before he and his friends arrived for their internship. For some reason, those old man's words stuck uncomfortably close to the front of his mind.

Out of nowhere, a shop on the side of the street they were walking down exploded. Out of the smoke emerged two gaudy looking villains several decades past the death of disco. ONe started to fly in a twister created out of his body while the other ran on foot.

There was no time to linger on thoughts that lacked enough information to ponder on. Almost a dozen citizens were flung into the air by the whirling villain with the pompadour, which Izuku caught with Black Whip. His control over the quirk had reached new levels of mastery with the past few weeks filled with him training his control over it.

Shoto safely skated with his ice on the sides of the building to catch up to the flying villain while Bakugou pursued the one on foot. A shop owner came running out of the wreckage about his stolen jewelry, putting into context how serious the current crime that was being perpetrated was.

Once the citizens were placed safely on the ground, Izuku gave chase too.

Elsewhere

Leaning on the wall of a back alley, a young man named Rody Soul, patiently waited for an important package his contact tasked the teen with retrieving. His high ponytail bushed outwards with a red knitted headband being the most intact piece of clothing on his person.

The rest of his outerwear looked to be an assortment of clothing that was fished from the refuse and restored with poor skill in tailoring. A ratty trench coat with a button up shirt that had a patch of a relatively similar color sat on the front of it, along with a pair of brown slacks with the legs cut short and dress shoes that were missing their laces were secured with gray cloth that wrapped around the midsection to secure them to his feet. Only the fact that the heels were intact allowed him to wear his shoes in such a tacked together fashion.

A slumdog working for a sort of freelancing courier business didn't loan a lot of honest work in a city like this one. He found himself in this line of occupation due to a sordid past with his family, on top of having to look after his two siblings. It paid enough so that he could at least make sure his younger brother and sister could continue to have an education and be provided with the basic essentials.

Over time, he just saw the work as necessary and didn't even consider that it was the work of criminals. He didn't kill or steal, he was just the guy who happened to be the one to carry the goods between people like that.

"God, what's taking so-"

"Take it!"

Reacting just in time, Rody barely caught the steel attache case that was thrown directly at his head. Shoto zoomed right past the alley that he had been standing in to pursue the jewelry thief, leaving him to start booking in down the opposite end of said alley.

During the pursuit, Shoto distracted the villain with a flame blast to keep their eyes on him long enough for the ice wall ahead to violently stop their trajectory. Todoroki sighed a breath of relief that the chase was finally over. His relief then suddenly turned to more anxiety as he couldn't find the case anywhere on the villain.

Midoriya had been right on his tail when Shoto shouted to Izuku that the case was missing. Scanning the alleyways, he found someone making a break for it down an alley he passed when arriving on the scene.

Chasing them through the streets proved to be a bit more challenging than first anticipated. Izuku almost lost Rody at a plaza before scanning for anyone who looked to be moving faster than the others. Spotting him next to the fountain, Black whip was used to help slingshot him off the fountain in pursuit. Hearing them close in, Rody ignored the crosswalk and pissed off the drivers that almost hit the teen.

On another street, Izuku scanned carefully for the culprit. The movement out the corner of his eye indicated to Izuku that the one with the stolen jewels was on the fire escape. He leapt up and kept jumping from one level to another with ease.

"Whoa, he's fast!"

From out of his coat, a pink sparrow that he named Pino came soaring out to his master's rescue. That rescue then turned out to be completely unhelpful as Izuku caught the bird in his right hand.

"Pino!"

Turning to his master, the brave wink the absurdly intelligent bird gave to Rory sent the teary eyed teen to complete the job. He just barely reached the rooftops as Izuku landed right behind him.

Pino had quite the attitude on him, though found himself a bit surprised when the guy chasing after his master knelt down to put the bird back on the floor.

"So sorry! I gotta go!"

After shaking itself out of their shock, Pino dutifully chased after the hero to try and do what he could to save his master from jail.

Rory knew how good he was when it came to evading the authorities. Not even the heroes that were tasked with catching him were even able to identify him as he left them so far in his dust that they never got a solid ID on the young man. Seeing Izuku match his pace started to worry him as now he was both identified and likely to be caught all at once.

His masterful parkour was masterfully matched with the hero's ability to clear obstacles with his own techniques. He felt himself sweat out of fear for the very first time in a long while.

Highway

Driving down the freeway was a car barreling through the vehicles traveling at the speed limit. Many were pissed off at the reckless driver, unaware of his current situation. The phone he was desperately looking at for driving instruction pinned his destination as just on the next off ramp, a direction he couldn't reach in time before his pursuer finally caught up to him.

A woman dressed in a green cloak and skin tight black combat gear weaved into the lane that he was driving on. Her balance kept the motorbike she drove upright as she turned her left hand into a bow; the pinky and thumb turning into the arms of her weapon.

An arrow was notched before she took aim at the escaping vehicle. Her target barely got his head out of the way of the shot that almost severed his head from his spine. He only needed another twenty seconds or so before he was close enough to the drop off. He just needed that much time. That time never made itself available as the assassin started to fire multiple arrows at once to fill the car he drove with punctures. One tire blew out when a shot connected with the wheel, sending the man and his precious package into the wall that separated the road from the ground far below.

It had been right then that Rory ran out into the open with the attache in his arms. Another series of close calls in the form of him dodging the rubble and burning wreckage careening down from the highway far above him almost killed the teen.

By some sheer moment of luck, none of the debris hit him. He still couldn't waste time to admire his good fortune, so he picked up the silver attache and kept running for the nearby underground subway. The train car doors shut right behind him as he desperately dove for the doors. He was on his hands and knees out of exhaustion from running for his dear life. Getting back up, he checked himself and dusted off the dust from his coat. The little flower pin on the front of his coat was checked as he finally felt like he could take a breather.

"Ahem…"

Slowly panning his eyes up from the flower, Rory felt his heart drop at the sight of Izuku standing in front of him. Both of the hero's arms were crossed with Pino seated exhausted on their shoulder.

What had happened was that Izuku just leapt into the next door over to catch the criminal trying to escape. There wasn't much else he could do or say at this point to help his situation.

"... Gooooood job?"

The double thumbs up just made Rory look like an idiot. Especially in front of all the onlookers who could read the writing on the wall.

The Next Station

Izuku had Rory by the shoulder of his coat as he escorted him off the train car. Being ever the slippery foe, Rory laid on the charm to try and turn the situation back on Izuku.

"Listen, I really don't have time for this. I'm already late for my business meeting and this has already-"

Rory felt himself being a bit manhandled as he caught himself on the guard railing that kept train passengers from walking too far off to the left of the platform. Midoriya didn't have the patience he usually possessed in light of recent developments.

"You ran from a pursuit with an object that was identified as the stolen object from the crime scene. I notified you that I was a hero multiple times, which you clearly understood throughout our chase."

Whoever this kid was, he didn't come off as some naive runt from a foreign exchange program. He really needed to lay it on thick if he wanted to get out of this.

"I panicked! What do you expect? Plus, you're clearly some foreign hero on some sort of exchange. What right do you have to act like this is your country?"

"There are multiple laws saying that I NEED to act as a hero, no matter the time or place. If you are innocent, then we won't have any issue with talking to the authorities. You can use my mobile device if you need to call whoever you need to talk to."

This wasn't working at all. Nothing he had to say scared this kid in backing off. Right now, there was only one thing he could do if he wanted any hope to escape and not go to prison. It was either him or the jewels.

"... Okay, okay. I'll show you the case if you are so desperate…"

Rory turned the case around in his hands and unlatched the attache case for Midoriya. Once he revealed the jewels, he would then throw the whole thing into Izuku's face to give himself enough of a window to escape. He would just pin it on the robbers never actually giving him the case. Opening it, the reaction on Izuku's face wasn't that of shock, but of confusion.

Wondering what was so confusing, he turned to look into the case and found himself just as confused as the hero.

Elsewhere

As the authorities and heroes were addressing the car crash from earlier; a few people in a sheltered room in one of the nearby buildings were waiting for the one on the phone to contact someone. The attache case from earlier sat open on the coffee table while they looked worried over the turn of events. Their interests as well as their concerns made these valuable gems look like irradiated rocks that were likely to get them killed. Only the call they were making would decide what would be their punishment.

"... Sir… We ran into a problem… The subject was intercepted… Yes… We have him in emergency care… The package was somehow swapped… We think with a local robbery… Yes, sir… We identified them as Rory Soul… and Midoriya Izuku… Sir?... Yes, sir… Of course… We'll be there… Yes… Yes, we understand…"

There was a sigh of relief that came over the room after the implication that they weren't going to meet their demise as soon as they thought. They all packed up their things along with the stolen jewels to be returned at a later date. Their job right now was that of a much more grave matter.

Japan

Hitting the end call option, Nakamura started to exit his van and activated his hidden motorbike compartment. The only witnesses were just a few children finishing with school for the day. Some were amazed at the cool display of tech that came out of Eri's dad's van. Eri approached her father as he put on his helmet, getting a sincere apology from him as he turned the engine over and revved the two wheeler.

"Sorry, baby! I'll have somebody else take you home for now! Sorry!"

Right as Haru peeled out, A large man with a build like a mountain approached the young child. For the average person, such a sight should be alarming for how dangerous it could be for a child to be met with such an intimidating looking fellow.

Everybody around didn't even give the sight a second thought. Even Eri looked a bit excited as she reached into her backpack for something she wanted to give to the goliath standing before her. A drawing of her and the man holding her in his hand was presented to the bald giant with sunglasses disguising his intense stare. Kneeling down, the security guard gently retrieved the drawing before smiling gently to the little girl proud of her artwork. A finger pat the kind child he valued dearly.

"I cannot express my continued gratitude for your kindness, Eri-chan."

That cheerful smile he received was more than enough motivation to be her stalwart guardian. He gently scooped her up to then place her in the large SUV that he drove to get her home safely. He listened to every single tale she wanted to share with genuine interest in her tales.

As long as Nakamura tasked him with this task, he would crawl out of hell an infinite amount of times to make sure this child was safe under his care.
