"C'mon, man! Isn't the fact I don't have the jewels enough for you?"

Still remaining suspicious of Rory, Izuku gripped the beige coat they wore as he ushered them to the street level. What Rory failed to recognize out of his frustration was what he let slip just now.

"I never said jewels. How did you know they were jewels?"

"... Uh, the news-"

"-Weren't there. Again, how did you know?"

Now he found himself seriously cornered. This kid was too sharp for someone who looked no older than sixteen. Had they been taller, Rory would have thought that Izuku was easily over nineteen. Such sentiments didn't help the current predicament he found himself trapped within.

Just then, sirens were suddenly flooding the surrounding area when the police and multiple swat vehicles arrived on the scene. Lined up in front of Rory and Izuku were police officers taking aim at the hapless teens. Even Midoriya found himself a little lost at the sudden development.

"Police! Lay down with your hand on your head, now!"

Things were escalating too quickly, so Izuku spoke as someone with the hero association to diffuse some of the tension.

"Officer, My name is Midoriya Izuku. I'm with the-"

"They're not complying! Open fire!"

Thinking quickly, Izuku used Black Whip to produce a cage of tentacles to block the gunfire as he snatched up Rory and launched himself with Black Whip from his other hand. Police didn't even hesitate to start opening fire on the two teens about to go into custody. Izuku needed to evade their attempts to bring them down while protecting Rory.

Racing through the city, Izuku saw a cliff that he could use to break up the chase between him and the authorities. Both him and Rory managed to use the natural elevation to keep the police from gunning them both down. A train passing by below caught the two teens as they plummeted to the ground. Midoriya tried to make sense of the incident while being unaware of a new development happening out of sight.

The police cars chasing the two runaways were cut off by large armored vehicles. The first car collided with the tire of the first armored vehicle before the second one hit the back end of the lead police chaser.

These officers were still too disoriented when their car doors were wrenched open for whoever stopped them to place the police under arrest. A moment later, a multitude of police cars approached the scene with a very pissed off lieutenant storming towards the scene of his officers getting arrested.

"Who the fuck are you?! I should arrest you with-"

Someone in the convoy that stopped the attempted manhunt came forth and brandished a badge while speaking with authority at the enraged law enforcement officer.

"ESD International. Mind telling me why a manhunt has been authorized on a hero of foreign jurisdiction?"

Out of confusion, the lieutenant just threatened the officers who got in the way with violence. What shut down that attempt was the numerous ESD officers that emerged out of the armored vehicles. While the police had handguns and riot shields; they were clearly outmatched with dozens of fully automatic rifles trained on the police. This stalemate was broken when a call on the radio called the lieutenant over.

Allowing the commanding officer their space, the ESD kept their weapons trained as the man in charge of the Otheon PD took the call. After a few moments on the walkie, the officer returned to the lead officer from the ESD with an embittered look.

"Don't get cocky, prick."

Not a single word was directed at the lieutenant. The officer in charge continued with their arrest while the rest of the police were forced to return to the station. This was indeed a turn of events that those who were sure they would get their way didn't anticipate.

Elsewhere

On top of the train that Izuku and Rory landed on, both teens were allowed some space to get their bearings. Midoriya had his head on straight while Soul started to buckle under the pressure. Even the bird had the same exhausted look on their face.

Izuku could feel the instinctive tug of someone taking aim at him when the train started to pass under the suspension bridge crossing the bay area. A tendril of black whip caught the projectile, though feeling the arrow he caught start to jitter and tug violently clued him in that this shot wasn't from a normal bow.

Several kilometers away, the assassin from Humarise knocked another arrow before firing once again. Beros, the archer woman, possessed the ability to create homing arrows from whatever she shot from her bow hand. Their effectiveness had more accuracy at longer ranges, so Izuku was practically the perfect target from where she stood.

After breaking the first arrow in the tentacle he produced, Midoriya swung off of the train car while dodging the next projectile. Rory screamed like a small child as he kept getting manhandled by Izuku. Landing back on the train, a strand from Black Whip struck the arrow out of the air. The timing couldn't have been more perfect as three more arrows were already on their way towards him and Rory.

Leaving the passengers exposed to the crossfire wasn't an option. He plucked Rory up along with the case and swung out from underneath the bridge. As expected, the arrows were following him like homing missiles.

As he was swinging out of harm's way, a sound besides the roar of winds going past his ears started to concern Midoriya. More police chasers were on the bridge underneath him.

Being in such a compromising situation with another person put too much at risk. Without another option, Izuku slung both himself and Rory over the edge and let the river do the rest of the work in getting them both out of harm's way.

Had they stuck around for a little longer, the duo would have heard another opposing set of sirens that collided with the group of police out to gun down the teens. Just like earlier, this group of officers were forced to comply with the superior firepower and authority of the Emergency Security Department International. Many of these officers were starting to shake in their boots over what could be potentially a serious reveal over what they had intended in this manhunt for Midoriya and Soul.

Later that Day

Endeavor was raving mad at the front desk of the Otheon police department. Demanding that the commissioner general speak to the man, the front desk lady only gave the hero the runaround regarding meeting the man face to face.

"This is regarding international matters! How can he not see me regarding the matter?!"

All he got in response from the resolute secretary was that the man was too busy with matters regarding the investigation itself. The evidence still needed to be reviewed before international warrants were permitted, so he needed to be in a very crucial meeting over the approval process.

Endeavor smelled something foul at play as he stood there in the police station. He knew making a scene would only make matters worse, so he bit the bullet and left without incident. He could only hope that the warrant wouldn't go international.

Upstairs

Inside of the very office that Endeavor sought to be inside of. What was occurring of said office had been in regards of the recent arrest warrant for Midoriya Izuku, the hero who was convicted of twelve serial murderers. The one who pushed the warrant had been preoccupied with something aside from the work their secretary had indicated.

Another painful punch into his stomach caused the general commissioner to start dry heaving at the excruciating agony. His office was populated with several men in black suits with the blinds drawn closed.

He had his arms and legs bound to a solid metal chair he couldn't escape. Plastic zip ties of unprecedented strength kept cutting into his wrists and ankles as more punishment in the form of tasers woke up the almost unconscious police official from falling unconscious.

Seated on a chair in front of the man, a person then pulled out a cigarette that was lit by the person closest to him. The ember faintly illuminated the white hair of the man in command of the men torturing the general comissioner of the Otheon police department. To say the least, he was the farthest he could be from being happy.

"Y… Y-you fuck! Who are you? Do you know who the fuck I am, y-"

A violent punch into his lower ribs cracked the flexible bones like styrofoam. More blood poured from his mouth as the man being tortured coughed from the overwhelming sensations of his body being torn apart.

More silence took the room as the man who stormed the office of one of the most powerful men in the country sat in silence of the tortured victim.

"... Honestly, people like you continue to fascinate me."

They stood up and approached the bloodied mess tied to the chair that had plastic wrap draped over all contaminable surfaces. There was more than enough evidence around to tell the general commissioner that he didn't have a chance of making it out of here alive.

In a way, he was wrong.

"On top of being crazy, you somehow made it to the position that you did. It still scares me how many idiots are still in charge."

Haru flicked his cigarette to the floor. The still burning ember singed the carpet of the office he so proudly maintained.

"A member of Humarise right underneath their noses. I found you in less than an hour, yet your superiors were stupid enough to let you roam around for years. Even looking at you makes me nauseous."

Another angry bout of shouting that Haru prevented his men from stopping. He wanted to hear the height of this man's delusional pride before he did what he wanted to do next.

"I seek betterment! All these ignorant people, unaware of the world! They don't know that the world is doomed to be something horrible while they ignore the problem! We want what's best! Who are you to stop us?!"

All Nakamura did was just walk up to the desk partially covered with clear plastic tarp. He pressed the intercom button for the front desk and waited patiently for a response.

"Yes, sir?"

"It's me! I'm being tortured! Call someone to-"

"Can you please call them in?"

"Of course, Nakamura-san."

Horrified didn't even cover how the general commissioner felt as he heard his secretary address the man who was currently torturing him while ignoring his desperate cries. She was close enough to his family for her to have had dinner at his home several times at this point.

Shortly after the call, three very familiar faces entered the office. People that he didn't know were even in the country at the moment.

"Gentleman. This man here has made things inconvenient for me to operate within your country. For what reason should I even consider continuing any sort of business here?"

All of them immediately bowed to Nakamura after he asked them his most poignant question. What they said only cemented the despair the general commissioner felt while bound in that chair.

"Please, Nakamura-san; we will do all we can to provide compensation!"

"We humbly ask for your forgiveness! Whatever you need from us, we will provide!"

"Nothing is too much! Give us one last chance!"

Three superintendents of the country's law enforcement were begging for forgiveness right in front of him. Nobody was going to save him from this torture. This truly was the end.

"Rescind the warrant and offer a public apology for your incompetence. Tell your superiors that I'm rather fucked off at it is, so either fix this or I'll pay them a visit…"

Taking one last look at the man bleeding out on the chair; Nakamura gave the superintendents one last command to follow.

"Gentleman, please share your parting words with him before he's skinned and tossed into the ocean alive."

Too much had been in that one sentence for the man to unpack in one sitting. All he could see was the look of sheer disgust from his superiors as they condemned the man to his fate.

"Worthless."

"We should have never given you anything."

"Ask for forgiveness in hell."

Both Nakamura and the superintendents left the man to his fate. Nobody could hear the horrifying screams of anguish as the men in charge of delivering on their orders carefully made sure that the anguish would be carried out as planned.

Elsewhere

Inside of the hotel where the heroes were spending their stay in the foreign country, Shoto had been hard at work regarding the crime scene that involved the car crash as well as Izuku. After putting out the fire was when he noticed the odd ballistics of the car that had been burning.

Being at a school where professionals shot multiple targets on a daily basis, his insight on ballistics had some strong fundamentals for him to work off of.

The car at the scene had punctures with extremely irregular bores that didn't align with any firearm or ammo type he's seen before. He asked a hero to look into their resources to find a possible culprit. She returned with a statement from a detective on the scene that identified the man at the wheel as a member of Humarise. His inquiry over his location only revealed that the man fell into a coma from the accident. What also stuck out about the whole affair was how the police were replaced with ESD officers out of nowhere.

Which led into something the hero noticed as she carried out her various investigations. ESD were making moves all around the country regarding police officers for some reason. When asked if he could approach the man, she revealed that he was more than welcome to do so once he woke up. It contrasted with how cagey the police had been regarding the man and questioning him.

Before he could ask for more information, an email from Midoriya caught his attention. Reading it only revealed an almost incoherent message.

Keep eating

Lunch with strawberries

And make sure

You eat

Dinner in the fridge.

None of the message made sense at first glance. The spacing and grammatical errors felt off brand to the normally articulate Izuku. It was when the hero, Clair Voyance, noted how the message looked to be a simple message of spacing that Shoto recognized the vertical lettering. The name of the neighboring nation of Klayd was extremely visible when read from top to bottom with every beginning letter of the line.

Right as Bakugou entered the room, Bakugou was just as quickly whisked away by Shoto. His protest went unheard as he dragged his classmate away.

Outside

Exiting the hotel, Shoto finally finished briefing Katsuki on the situation as they exited the hotel. His instincts pricked up at the feeling of being watched, yet when subtly checking his periphery; nothing was there.

"You felt that?"

"Yeah, we should be careful. They might still be following."

Both teens knew when they were being followed by the average tail. They didn't feel the presence that they felt watching them exit the hotel, so their guard was up. Unknown to them was what happened to the tail that aroused their suspicions.

In the alley that the Otheon police officers were hiding in, all of them were killed silently by the disguised garbage truck drivers that backed up their truck silently to the unsuspecting group. The officer peeking the corner had been garroted with a plastic bag designed for silent takedowns. Him and the other dead officers were tossed into the dumpster before the operatives went back into disguise and disposed of the corpses into their truck.

An all clear was sent through their comms before they drove off with the garbage now properly disposed of.

Izuku had only hope over whether or not his message would be decrypted in time. Both he and the reluctant Rory had been riding on the rooftop of a public bus renovated out of an old school bus through the countryside. They needed to cross country borders if they wanted any hope in reaching safety from Otheon police.

Their ride arrived at a remote station that couldn't take them any closer to the border. Late in the evening, Izuku found himself and Rory looking for another way for them to find a ride into safer territory.

Disguising themselves in thrift clothing did prove to be significantly beneficial in keeping people's eyes from prying too closely as to who they were. Late into the afternoon, Rory requested that he be allowed to make a phone call from a nearby payphone. Izuku wasn't as familiar with making such types of communications in high stress situations. He let the other teen make the call at his own discretion.

Dial tone after dial tone stretched time on longer than necessary for Rory before a familiar voice finally answered him.

"Hello, Stanelyk here."

"Sta-uh… Stanletk, it's me…"

"What the he… You little… Do you know how much heat I'm under right now?"

His employer, the bar owner known to the public as Stanleyk, had to shush himself multiple times on the phone to keep his employees and patrons from getting suspicious. Most were too drunk to notice, including the employees.

Calling the man was no light favor being paid back. He asked a lot of the older man to go and check up on his siblings. The bar owner grumbled and grit his teeth as he made his grievances known.

"... Fine. Just know that they're not happy about the missing jewelry. Get them back, or else they're gonna ice you!"

"... Thank you."

"... Cheh, you brat."

Hanging up the phone, Rory needed to find a solution to his problem if he intended on returning to his family in this lifetime. When Izuku came to check up on the other teen, all he gave Midoriya was his usual nonchalant attitude over everything being okay. Izuku could see that the other person in his part was putting up a front. For now, they would have to let it slide until they could get to safer territory.

Evening

Finding an abandoned Barn in the countryside allowed the runaways some comfort in their bleak situation. That night in particular, Rory had a recollection of memories over his father's horrid past with the terrorist group Humarise.

This organization was universally hated by those who possessed quirks, which made up a majority of people in society. His children were forced to pay the price after he was brought to the Humarise cause, leaving three children to fend for themselves in the slums of Otheon to fend for themselves. Only Rory remained to protect their wellbeing.

Waking up, Rory felt the cool night breeze brush over him as he laid next to Izuku on their makeshift bedding of old hay. His mind was strangely serene as he made the decision to take matters into his own hands. Pino had his reservations regarding the matter after he expertly swapped the case in Izuku's arm for a thick sheet of tarp he found lying around. He muscled past the aggressive protests of his bird to make a call at a phone booth he saw on the way to the barn he and Izuku spent the night at from the rest stop they came from.

If this would allow him to be where he needed to be, then so be it.

Later

Awaiting in an open field next to the road, Rory felt his spirit rise and drop simultaneously at the sight of an approaching helicopter from the night sky. He did his best to wave down the aircraft approaching him with what he thought to be the proper authorities.

After they landed and dismounted the heli, only one person emerged to address the anxious Rory. Callously tossing the case to them, he asked if he was free of the incident.

Their response didn't warrant confidence in a trustworthy exchange as the man now started pressing for the location of Izuku. He nervously stammered as the man sent to retrieve the case kept getting closer with every step he took. Their size kept multiplying as Rory kept insisting that he and Izuku knew nothing about the contents of the case. No more words were coming out of the ogre that now possessed spiked bats for arms.

His brother and sister were still waiting for him at home. Leaving them there would only be the worst thing he could possibly do as their older brother. They were all he had.

"I just want to go home!"

Desperation dulled Rory's ear's from the sounds of a roaring engine that approached from the main road. Right as the villain raised their arms up to eliminate the young man, a very expensive looking vehicle suddenly charged through the field and swerved at just the right moment to drift at an angle to strike the monster with the rear fascia of the passenger side on the expensive looking import.

Sent flying into the front windshield of the helicopter parked on the ground, the one sent to eliminate Izuku and Rory groaned as they tried to get back up on their feet. From out of the car approached a man that had his face shielded from sight due to the intense contrast of his headlights and the nighttime darkness.

It startled Rory that the man who expertly drove his car into the mutant golem started to storm directly at the creature on foot. A concern that didn't seem necessary as a large fang protruding from their mouth was grasped and used as leverage to slam the ogre's head into the helicopter windshield. Glass showered down onto the grass at the violent collision that drove the assassin's head through such sturdy material.

Before Rory could even realize, the ogre roared to life and swung its arms at whoever assaulted them. What happened next almost escaped Rory with how fast it occurred.

"New Hampshire Smash!"

Suddenly, the red ogre about to end Rory had suddenly been flipped into the air with someone shoulder tackling the thing into the roadside ditch far behind the helicopter. Careening into the ground, there was only a loud impact as the beast finally stopped with a solid landing.

Standing back up after their joint attack, the stranger that saved Rory and Izuku looked at one another while the headlights still kept the man's face from being visible.

"... Hey, kiddo."

"Hello, Haru-san."
