When Izuku went over the necessities that would be required for him and Rory to cross the border, things looked to be stacked in his odds. Making it across the border on foot would put him and Rory behind the advancing search party he knew would be scanning the border for them.

As Rory went to sleep, Izuku left the barn and looked at his phone with a complentative look as he deliberated the choice to call the one person he hesitated to speak to for the past few days. Someone he didn't know as well as he thought he did since childhood.

Several Days Ago

Returning to the UA dorms didn't feel as welcoming with the others still remaining with their agencies. Only Izuku, Bakugou, and Shoto were essentially the only students who were in the dorms for the weekend.

Waking up the next day didn't feel that much different for them. They all went about their business as they would without anything else to do. Training and working out had been their regular routine since they could remember when they joined the dorm program. What felt off for them was the absence of their mentor being the usual nagging presence while they were there.

Katsuki found himself being the first to be melancholy at Haru's absence when he was studying at the dining table in the commons. His habitual drinking of cold juice suddenly had him reacting to what he thought was someone chastising him for not using a coaster.

"So what, it's not like anybody else…"

Turning to the room revealed nobody there. He realized that what he did was a reaction more than anything. Without complaint, a coaster found itself under his perspiring drink.

Shoto felt himself at a bit of a standstill at the technique he wanted to develop with his quirk. His mastery of his movement fell upon his father when he had questions. What he felt needed improvement was how he couldn't move out of such a taxing move that felt too immobile for combat.

Texting Nakamura yielded no responses. He remembered what had happened just a day prior before returning to his exercises. Even he felt the emptiness that Haru left in light of what had caused his absence. Worst off was Izuku, who felt the absence of his mentor everywhere.

Everything reminded Izuku about what his mentor did to provide for Midoriya. Working out did little to alleviate the loneliness of the man's absence.

It eventually led to Izuku to just look at the contact in his phone at extended times throughout the day. Thinking that what had happened seemed easier to believe than having to confront the fact of what he did that night.

None of the boy''s found the strength to do so. Seeing him like he was; they feared what else they would see if Haru were to show more to them.

Present Time

Things were desperate enough as they were. Allowing his personal grievances to keep their chances of getting help didn't seem fair for either of them. Rory had someone waiting for him at home, while his mom was probably scared to death over why he didn't call her for some time. Whoever his mentor was, he needed to put that aside to ensure that the people who were suffering were going to be okay.

Hearing the dial tone made time stretch for an uncomfortable amount of time. The first one felt deafening against his ear. Second one just stretched for too long. Finally, halfway through the third dial tone, a voice came through after a moment of silence.

"... Izuku, please tell me you're okay."

'Y-yeah, I am…"

Some words were exchanged as both sides of the conversation started to tread ground that needed to be traversed a long while ago. Things eventually led into Izuku asking his father figure for help in the situation he found himself stuck in.

"... Haru-san, I need-"

"Where are you? I'll be there asap."

No convincing or asking seemed to be necessary as Haru just told Izuku that he had the man's support.

"Uh, I don't-"

"I know what I did was wrong. You shouldn't have seen that part of me… I'm sorry, Izuku. I just…"

Now it felt like Haru was at a loss of words. Some uncomfortable silence passed before Izuku spoke up. What he said all spilled out of him by instinct. Not a single word had been premeditated before then and there.

"You are who you are. I can't pretend that you're perfect… But I know you love me. I know that you did everything you can to make sure I can be the best I can… So please don't blame yourself for who you are…"

There were tears leaking out the corners of his eyes as he spoke from the bottom of his heart.

"I need you. I can't think of anyone else I need more than my dad, so please… Help me…"

All Izuku heard was what he needed to hear.

"... I will. Tell me where you are and I'll be there."

Present Time

Rory could barely understand what just happened before something came whizzing through the air. Immediately, a strand of black whip caught the projectile that the archer, Beros, shot to take down the people with the case.

What caused her to hesitate in shooting again was what she felt from both Izuku and Haru as they looked dead center of where she was. Their stares felt so cold and precise in how they treated her as an enemy. Her hand shook enough that the next arrow she tried to knock couldn't find purchase on the draw string. These weren't heroes; they were something entirely different.

Something so frigid had no chance of being something like a hero.

She failed to see Midoriya wind up for an attack directed at the ground to create enough of a distraction to escape. An explosion that created a massive dust cloud covered the escape of her targets as the rev of a thirty cylinder engine left both her and the one she had been tasked to support were left far behind at such superior speeds.

Later

Arriving at a hotel, Rory found it incredible how Haru smoothly talked the grumpy looking employee into laughing about some random topic he didn't hear the man talk about. With the key in hand, they all entered the room that looked like heaven in comparison to the barn from earlier. It was out of courtesy that Rory let Izuku take the first shower. It was the least he could do after how he saved his life after almost betraying him.

It had been only him and Haru in the room as Izuku washed away the stresses of the whole affair down the drain. Nakamura lit a cigarette while Rory started to feel awkward around the man.

"... Ha, so- uh-"

"You almost got yourself and Izuku killed, you know that?"

He felt even smaller after Haru took his first drag and just stared at the young man who almost brokered a deal with his own executioners. There had been no point in denying the affair that almost occured out of his fear.

Haru didn't want things to feel too antagonistic, so he elaborated that feeling vulnerable is something that Rory needed to come to terms with. From what Nakamura could tell, the kid didn't seem cruel or antagonistic. The locket hanging from their neck clued him in enough that Rory had someone he wanted to return to.

"Listen, and listen good…"

Snuffing the cigarette in the room's ashtray, Haru looked into Roroy's eyes as he leaned forward in his chair.

"There are no good or bad choices after now. These are people who want you dead. So remember that there are only two things that will happen past tonight.

A fist that tightened illustrated to the youth that this did not sit lightly with Nakamura as he shared his wisdom.

"Either they will walk away, or you will. They're still waiting for you, so remember that when you make your decisions from here on out…"

Midoriya exited the bathroom just as Rory absorbed the words of wisdom directed at him. He entered the bathroom to wash himself off while stewing on the words he was told. Whatever Nakamura told him still didn't fully translate, though he felt himself pondering them throughout the night.

Things would definitely have to change for him if he wanted to make it past this insane situation he was now trapped in.

The Next Day

The entire trip to the next country needed a different set of wheels aside from the fanciful set that Haru brought to assist the two teens in need.

Arriving at a luxury dealership, Rory couldn't believe the tact of the man who managed to trade the beat up vehicle he had for a new all terrain vehicle with all the luxuries that came with it. The man and the two teens drove off the lot in less than two hours with a new all-terrain SUV that would make the rest of the trip a cakewalk.

Over several days worth of progress had been cut out with just a bit of charm on one person's behalf. Izuku didn't see the oddity in how quick Nakamura managed such a skillful task as he did. To him, it was all part of the usual when it came to Nakamura.

This didn't detract how helpful the change was in the grand scheme of things. Being able to rely on someone was a completely new experience for Rory. Years of being a caretaker for his siblings made the young man a purpose that required him to be independent in the many challenges that he was met with. Haru saw the boy's spirit as noble and strong for being the caretaker of his family for so long, despite his shady background.

Izuku and Rory easily bonded over the trip as Haru provided transportation to the border of the neighboring country. There were some challenges that the group were met with, though none of them stopped the journey they were set upon when met with said challenges. Journeys of this sort of caliber were those that either broke the adventurer…

Or would bring something truly great upon the completion of their journey.

Klayd/Otheon Border Control

Overlooking the border control, Izuku and Rory were analyzing the current uptight security as Haru smoked his cigarette while leaning on the front grill of the SUV. They wanted a clear visual of the current situation while Nakamura let them have their way. Pico tried to take a few puffs of the cigarette that he had with little success of getting any nicotine.

It was then that Haru suddenly started to act differently.

"... Get back in the car."

The boys were a bit caught off guard from the first command, which was repeated with a much more serious connotation for what Haru wanted.

"Get back in the SUV now!"

Without question, the boy's got back in as Haru started up the engine. He hit the reverse gear with the pedal to the floor as the group narrowly dodged several green projectiles that blew up the rock where the vehicle previously stood just a second before. Far above, helicopters hovering above with the assassins after Izuku and Rory were able to just catch sight of the suspicious vehicle on the cliffs.

It seemed that the Humarise organization was now operating on a closed network that his limited influence still couldn't reach in the foreign country. The same assassin trying to take down her target after all this time still kept taking shots on the ever evasive Midoriya.

To keep the target from escaping, Beros blew out the road behind the vehicle trying to escape. A good plan that required the driver to be limited by such an obstacle. Shifting back into drive propelled the SUV to start driving down the side of the cliff face that looked to be nothing more than a straight plummet down into the floor. While Izuku and Rory were screaming for their lives like normal people, Haru had his eyes focused ahead with the shifter clutched in the left as the bottom of the canyon kept getting closer.

Mistiming this would cost him the lives of these two young men. From his perspective, it was nothing more than a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Hitting neutral gave Nakamura the ideal control over the wheel and brakes he needed to start turning the SUV to the angle he needed. It was just a few moments before the vehicle hit the bottom that he hit drive again and propelled the car to start driving on the cliffside and end with the passengers still alive and well. Only stipend now was that they were now driving away at full speed on only their left wheels.

Jiggling the wheel a bit turned the vehicle back to being on all four wheels. Driving through the canyon at the bottom actually gave the escaping party the most advantageous position in comparison to their pursuers.

Haru could recognize that the assassins after Izuku and Rory were on the choppers. The first few attacks told him the woman with the bow quirk still needed to wipe out her targets after failing to do so up until now. Even he would be stupid to let an assassin fail as much as she did exist in his organization. Her blind fanaticism would likely drive her to some desperate depths if she were to fail.

Driving through the bottom of the ravine still required a bit of skill to outmaneuver the projectiles still pelting down on the escaping vehicle. What the villains now resorted to was launching dense orbs that expanded to the size of houses to try and eliminate their target. These orbs in combination with the quirk the archer possessed made this whole situation a very delicate life or death game of dodgeball.

A game that Haru knew all too well.

His driving somehow skirted the impacts of all the crater inducing orbs that kept missing the SUV by the narrowest of margins. Getting closer to the checkpoint alerted the officers of Otheon origin to the possible border hoppers escaping into the next country over.

Unknown to them were that the ESD stationed with them on the checkpoint were now taking up their arms against a target they didn't anticipate as a threat.

If the brunette border patrol were to unload on the current SUV making a break for it, then they would be forced to execute the officers taking aim at their organization's leader. A tense game of cat and mouse started as Haru prepared to turn away from the border at the last possible moment.

Ice encapsulated the chopper in pursuit of the vehicle driving away at the bottom of the canyon. A split second of touching the thin icicle that touched the aircraft weighed down the chopper with several tons of ice in a single moment. The pilot told the others that the weight exceeded the vehicle's limit before telling them to jump for it.

Both quirk users followed his instruction to seek their own survival. Whether they lived or died felt inconsequential to the overall mission.

Now the UA students were against another clock. Watching the plummeting wreckage while the survivors were also falling introduced the challenge of both apprehending the villains and preventing them from falling to their deaths.

A usual day for UA.

Bakugou tackled the pilot driving the helicopter. His reaction speed and aerial maneuverability afforded him the best chance of saving the one in the cockpit. It did require him to hit the driver in the head with a hard cross before yanking them out of their seat; at the end of the day, Bakugou managed well enough on his own. Up next was Shoto and the villain that had the ability to produce orbs that increased in both size and density at his will.

That fight quickly ended with Todoroki using the same ability that he utilized with the chopper.

The ice he controlled that connected with the villain encased them in a large mass of frozen water that they couldn't escape from. This villain had the misfortune of being his first successful target that the attack worked on. Their fortune allotted them the ability to survive the potential death that came with the commitment of Humarises cause.

All that was left was Beros. Her commitment had been genuine from the very beginning. Each shot she took with her quirk had all of her faith in Humarise's cause imbued into it.

"For humanity's salvation…"

She preemptively jumped off of the helicopter that already had been plummeting to its demise. Dropping to her death only let those who intended to save her the ability to do so.

Drifting into the opposite direction, the SUV that Haru drove turned itself around to start intercepting the falling woman. There had been a half second from when Midoriya saw her falling and when Haru started to drive in the opposite direction. A subtle look of thanks that Izuku shot at his father was more than enough thanks for Nakamura. NOw it was up to Izuku to do the rest of the work.

Timing the catch fell on only several nanoseconds of timing to keep both himself and the woman alive. It fell upon both Izuku and Haru to create the ideal scenario to keep this woman from dying. Instinct took over as Haru and Izuku attuned to one another for the ideal moment to save this woman's life. A world where sense and instinct ruled supreme. Only they knew when to act for the moment to save this one person.

Her faith kept her calm throughout the final moments of her potential death. When she thought she had finally met her nirvana; what she saw was the same naive face of her target. There were some moments of confusion before she angrily yelled at Izuku for an answer.

"Why?! Who are you to keep me from fulfilling my purpose?! You don-"

"I don't what?! Understand?!"

Being yelled at in response didn't register to Beros for a moment. Her silence allotted Izuku a few moments as he used Black Whip to bring them back down to ground level.

"What right do you think you have over life? You just kill and just resign yourself to dying?! Don't you dare…"

What she saw when looking into Izuku's eyes felt like the same divinity she felt when Humarise became her sole focus. His eyes were those of someone of a higher focus; beyond even her understanding.

"... You matter. You exist… So live!"

Izuku's eyes pierced her heart. Being in his arms as he lowered her to the ground felt more divine than anything in her past. What she felt still didn't reach complete understanding, though being there did give the woman a new perspective on life.

Border Control

It still baffled the young men at the border control station that Haru had paperwork for the young fugitives while getting the officers to all have a party where they all got drunk enough to all pass out from the festivities. He checked up with the UA students at multiple intervals of time and still had their insistence that he keep the checkpoint busy. Seeing their mentor be so charismatic didn't feel right for them to interrupt, so they just let Haru charm the adults in charge of the government security post.

They still felt something from deep within that kept them from facing facts. Something that they couldn't deny was encroaching on them with the passing of time. Only they knew that it was inevitable.

Only time would reveal what was so unavoidable in the end.
