Many Years Ago

Tucking the exhausted Izuku back into bed after their little trip to get ice cream, Haru let the boy sleep comfortably while Inko looked on from the entrance of her son's bedroom. Her heart swelled at the sight of Nakamura kneeling at the side of the child's bed with a look in his eyes she could only imagine her actual husband would have had he been here to comfort their son. At that moment, she knew that she was starting to fall deeply in love with the man who cared for her as well as her family. Haru stood back up after making sure Izuku was sound asleep.

"He should be okay for now, but we should keep an eye out for anything."

Shutting the door behind him, Haru felt the woman embrace him in a tight hug with her face buried into his chest. Feeling her body pressed up tightly against his left Nakamura breathless for a moment before he returned the embrace to comfort the mother.

"Thank you."

"... Yeah."

They remained like this for some time inside of the dimly lit apartment. Inko herself didn't know what to do to repay this man for his kindness. Although Haru didn't expect anything in return, he certainly didn't see a reason to reject this gesture of affection from someone he had come to deeply care about. None of this had been out of some expectation to receive anything in return. If Inko needed him, he would be there for both her and her son whenever they needed him, however they needed him.

This act of vulnerability on his part would eventually come to be the reason why the end of his plans to protect this world would be the most painful decision he would ever make in recent memory.

Present Time

Nobody dared to even move in the face of the truth. One of the most evil individuals in history was someone they all knew as someone who they cherished dearly.

A world this cruel certainly doesn't pull its punches in delivering the worst news possible.

"... N-no…"

Mentally, Izuku still couldn't accept this as reality. This was the man he looked up to his entire life. Someone who guided and supported him in the darkest of times. Whenever he called for help, this individual came to his aid without asking for anything in return.

Perhaps this was all just a dream.

Midoriya's muddled mind almost bought into the flimsy excuse that maybe none of this was real. Maybe this was just a really bad fantasy playing itself out while he remained blissfully unaware of reality.

Things weren't any better for Katsuki. The usually stubborn and outspoken boy fell deathly silent at the fact that his one mentor was in fact the world's deadliest killer.

Neither of them wanted this to be real. They would give up anything to make this all seem like a really bad dream.

Unfortunately, reality just didn't give a shot over what one wanted to be real or fantasy.

All they had left was the cruel truth.

"T-this isn't… I don't… I just… What…"

Katsuki couldn't muster up the passionate emotions he was usually known for through the thick layer of utter confusion blanketing his judgment. None of this made any sense to him. Why was his mentor wearing those clothes? Where did Bloodsoaked go? What was he doing just now?

Spinning out of control, Bakugou couldn't make sense of it anymore. Even his sense of balance was affected as the ground underneath his feet felt like standing on a sloop caught in a hurricane. Too much of his world had been suddenly turned upside down for him to remain level headed anymore. The image of Nakamura's face inside of that cursed hood was like staring at an optical illusion for all intents and purposes.

Midoriya didn't move an inch from where he stood. His entire body stood frozen in place when he saw Nakamura reveal his identity to him and Katsuki.

This had to be a dream. It just had to be.

Why else would he find out that his father figure was also the infamous murderer responsible for almost tearing this country apart? Perhaps this was just a really sick practical joke that Haru planned. Even that felt better than the truth of the matter at hand. None of this was supposed to be real. Someone as important as Haru wasn't supposed to be the villain in his story. This man was far too important to Izuku for them to become his worst enemy at the end of his story. He was supposed to be the hero. He grew up with everything Nakamura taught him in what it meant to be a good and decent man.

His world felt like sand running through his fingers in his desperation to keep it all together. It all fell apart right before him with the revelation of Nakamura being the worst murderer in the history of this country.

"Blaaaa… Auuuugghhh!"

In his utterly broken mental state, Katsuki vomited everything inside of his stomach. Splatters of stomach bile hit the pavement and splattered onto his gauntlets as he doubled over onto the floor. Violent heaves and gagging in a desperate attempt to alleviate the nausea in his stomach left the explosive quirk user out for the count.

Everything he has come to know. The one person he trusted more than anybody else in his entire life. Seeing the person he saw as the one who saved him from becoming a completely broken mess as the one he needed to stop as the world's greatest murderer left Katsuki unable to even stand. Feeling his world spin violently actually made the young man physically ill enough to succumb to his need to vomit.

Seeing two of the most important people in his life left Haru broken on the inside. Having that damage become visible to these individuals was unacceptable in his book.

He didn't have the right to break down anymore. Not after all he did to get this far.

"... When I said I killed Bakugou Masaru, I meant it. There is no way around the matter with my involvement…"

Both of the remaining members of the Bakugou family were unable to tune out what Nakamura was saying anymore. Nothing would hide the heinous truth that had been kept from them for all these years. The truth of Bakugou Masaru's death and how it came to be.

"Those men who got him killed were of my command. They were the ones who attempted that bank robbery that day…"

Hardened eyes met those of the frightened Katsuki. What Haru saw was something he would never forget.

He saw the same Katsuki who broke down and begged for his father back all those years ago.

"... I… I am the one who killed him."

Dead silence fell upon the entire area. Not even the wind dared to pick up with the air being so thick. All the birds and insects mysteriously vanished at that moment as the truth came to light.

The world fell into pieces right before Izuku's and Katsuki's eyes. Nothing they could do would ever make this right for them.

This one person, who was their guiding light for their entire lives, was a monster.
