Volume I: The Avengers Part I
Note: This is the start of a 3-part story, which will see Spider-Man team up with the Avengers, have a face-to-face confrontation with the Kingpin, the arrest of Lonnie Lincoln aka Tombstone, as well as the introduction of Daredevil.
It's early Friday morning, Peter walks down the stairs of his house and is surprised to see May's suitcase packed by the front door. Aunt May looks down the hallway and sees Peter standing there with a confused look on his face.
"Peter dear, you do remember that I'm leaving today, right? You're the one who convinced me to go on this trip for my own sake. I'll be back on Christmas Eve," May smiles.
"No, sorry I guess I just didn't realize that today was already December 19th. I hope you have a great trip to Miami, Aunt May. I'll see you in 5 days," Peter smiles half-heartedly.
Peter makes his way back upstairs and gets himself dressed for school. Today is the last day of school before winter break starts and Peter is off of school until the new year. Once Peter is dressed for school, he makes his way towards the Stacy house to see if he can talk to Gwen's dad. Today is supposed to be his first day back on the force since his ankle was broken several months ago by the Rhino.
A short time later, Peter arrives at the Stacy residence and knocks on the door. Peter can see the Stacy's Christmas tree through the windows of their house. Peter and May haven't had time to set up any decorations around their house yet. It's their first Christmas without Uncle Ben, which causes Peter to tear up a bit before Gwen opens the door to the Stacy residence.
"Peter? What's wrong?" Gwen notices the tears in Peter's eyes.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to—I was just looking at your Christmas tree and it just made me think of how this will be my first Christmas without Uncle Ben," Peter admits.
Gwen stops thinking for a moment and just hugs Peter trying to comfort him.
"What're you doing here anyways, Pete?" Gwen asks, still concerned for her boyfriend.
"Well, I just wanted to talk to your dad actually, and then I thought we could walk to school together," Peter says with a smile on his face.
Gwen smiles at Peter and lets him in the door so he can talk to George Stacy. George is still sitting at the kitchen table reading the Daily Bugle, which had a front headline of SPIDER-MAN AND THEIVES ROB BANK.
"Hi Mr. Stacy, how's your ankle feeling? Gwen told me that today is your first day back," Peter says.
"Peter, my boy, I'm doing just fine. I've been itching to get back and doing some actual police work for the city. These are some great shots you took of these robbers last night. It's a shame Jameson and the rest of the Bugle can't see that Spider-Man is a hero. By the way, Peter, we found out where Tombstone is. He's at 43rd and Powell, in Hell's Kitchen.. But Peter, this address it smells like a trap with how easily the department got this information. When you tell Spider-Man this information please warn him it could be a trap for the department or even Spider-Man as well," George Stacy says.
George remembers that Peter is Spider-Man and that according to Yuri Spider-Man has been heavily focused on finding Tombstone to get to the Kingpin over the past few weeks while he's been rehabbing his ankle back to full strength. Peter thanks George for his compliment and warning and then starts to head out with Gwen and towards school for their last day of the semester.
2 Miles above New York City sits the S.H.I.E.L.D. Hellicarrier, inside the mighty vessel stands Nick Fury, Iron Man, Captain America, and the rest of the Avengers. Nick Fury is discussing a new potential world threat with the Avengers and debriefing them on it.
"Rogers, calm down. We don't even know what we're dealing with yet," Nick Fury states with his arms crossed.
"Bullshit Fury, you think Loki just arrived here to prance around and stick his thumbs up his butt? No, if what Thor says is true, he's here to do one thing only, conquer the earth and turn everyone to do his own bidding. I don't know about you, but I plan on stopping it," Captain America says sternly.
"That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying we need to figure out what he's planning to do here. Thor, you're our resident expert on Loki. What do you think his plan is" Fury asks calmly.
"Loki is beyond reason, but he is my brother. He wants to rule this planet as revenge against me and Asgard, and he wants to be seen doing it as well," Thor starts.
"So, he wants to publicly humiliate you basically," Hawkeye chimes in.
Thor nods his head and makes his way out of the room to think about the upcoming battle. Nick Fury and the rest stay on the Hellicarrier as they continue to discuss their plan for the inevitable battle that is to come.
Peter and Gwen are at school now and are getting their stuff from their own lockers for the start of their school day when Mary Jane comes up to Peter at his locker. MJ looks at Peter from the side and thinks about her feelings for Peter, she shakes her head to try and make the feelings go away. She still has feelings for Peter, but has stronger feelings for Harry Osborn.
"Tiger, what's up? You got any plans for winter break?" MJ asks. "Harry and I can do a double date with you and Gwen, if you want."
"Not really. I don't have any plans at all. But after school today I'm going to 43rd and Powell, apparently, it's where Tombstone is holed up. If I take down Tombstone, I can finally find out who the Kingpin is and put a stop to him," Peter reveals.
"Tiger, have you been spending more time with Gwen and less time thwipping your webs out there?" Mary Jane asks.
"Don't worry, he has. I've made sure of it," Gwen interrupts as she finished getting all of her stuff from her locker.
"Well, Gwen didn't have to convince me. Spider-Man is someone I have to be, but Gwendolyn Stacy makes my heart beat out of my chest. To me she is my life. I want to be with my girlfriend every waking moment I'm not out there swinging on a web," Peter tells MJ knowing Gwen is right there as well.
Gwen blushes after Peter says this and mouths the words "I love you" as Peter turns his gaze over to Gwen. Peter flashes a cute smile at Gwen after he sees what she's doing causing Gwen to blush even more. Peter makes Gwen feel like an extremely lucky girl, she knows that multiple other girls around the school have feelings for Peter as well including Betty Brant and Liz Allen. But Peter chose Gwen instead.
Meanwhile at the Sanctum Sanctorum in Manhattan, Doctor Strange and Wong are desperately trying to come up with a plan to save the world before their vision of Spider-Man being captured and the Avengers being defeated comes to fruition.
"By the Eye of Agamotto!" Doctor Strange yells as he tries to peer into the future once again to get any clues on how to prevent this tragedy about to fall upon New York City.
The time stone inside the eye of Agamotto opens and Doctor Strange journeys his astral form into the future in an attempt to gain more knowledge on the future attack that is impending. What's left behind is Doctor Strange's physical form seemingly unconscious and asleep inside the Sanctum Sanctorum.
6 hours hour later, Wong walks back into the Sanctum Sanctorum and sees Doctor Strange on the ground, gasping for air. Strange has beads of sweat all around his forehead as he looks up and sees Wong looking at him with a concerned, but cheerful look on his face for his friend. Wong bends down and offers his hand to Doctor Strange to help him off the ground.
"Stephen, what's wrong? I'm sorry, I just got back from Kamar-Taj" Wong says as he runs up to Doctor Strange.
"Wong, I've tried and tried again. There's nothing I can do to find out about why Spider-Man is captured on December 23rd in 4 days. But I was able to ascertain a little bit more about how the Avengers were taken down. A man named Loki, he's responsible for all of this," Doctor Strange tells Wong.
"Should we tell Spider-Man about this if there's no way either of us can accurately see what's going to happen to him?" Wong asks.
"Yes, that's not a bad idea. With more time I thought we would be able to accurately see what caused him to be captured and maybe even prevent it, but I was wrong. You know where he frequents the most on Friday afternoons like these?" Doctor Strange says.
"According to this phone he frequents Queens the most often… What's Queens?" Wong says looking down at the phone he has in his hand.
"Queens, it's one of the boroughs of New York. It's northeast of where we are right now. Where did you even have the time or money to get a phone, Wong?" Doctor Strange asks bewildered.
"Oh, I didn't. This is your phone, you left it unlocked," Wong smirks.
Doctor Strange looks back at Wong with an annoyed look on his face and grabs his phone from him. Doctor Strange walks over to a nearby table inside the Sanctum Sanctorum to grab his sling ring and opens a portal to Queens while thinking of Spider-Man. When they arrive in Queens, all they can see is a mural of Spider-Man currently being painted on by a local street artist.
"Crap, either Spider-Man's already been taken, or we came to the wrong place," Wong says.
"We need to warn the Avengers now before it's too late," Doctor Strange says as he opens another portal this time directly to Avengers Tower, worried for Spider-Man and the Avengers.
It's 6:53 PM and the sun is setting as Spider-Man arrives in Hell's Kitchen at 43rd and Powell, the address George Stacy told him this morning. Spider-Man looks down at the street below him, to Peter it appears to be an autobody shop, for cars and other vehicles. Spider-Man's phone starts to ring in his utility belt, it's Mary Jane.
"Hey MJ, what's up?"
"Nothing much Tiger, how's the taking down of Tombstone going?"
"I just got here, but it looks like this address is to an autobody shop. I can't believe this is where Tombstone has been holed up all this time. Taking him down is just the first step to taking down the Kingpin."
"An autobody shop? Huh, who knew a criminal mastermind set up shop there of all places."
"Yeah, it's a hell of a place to hide. Makes sense why nobody's found him until now, oh crap that's not good."
"What's not good? Is everything alright?"
"20 to 30 armed goons just showed up, they're standing in front of the autobody shop."
"Can't you just take them all out like that one time you went during lunch at school."
"It's not that simple this time. Last time we were enclosed inside a construction site. It was only me and Tombstone's thugs. This time there's an entire street of people that could be caught in the crossfire. I need to do this silently and stealthily."
"Go get 'em Tiger. I'll be here if you need me."
The phone call ends, and Spider-Man prepares to start taking down the Tombstone goons when he hears a dark and menacing voice from behind him.
"Who are you, and what are you doing here?" the mysterious person hiding in the shadows says.
Spider-Man whips his head around, surprised that his spider sense didn't go off alerting him off this mysterious person. Spider-Man cocks his head slightly to the side as the mysterious man steps out of the shadows and into the light.
"Seriously? I've been Spider-Man for 4 months now and I still get asked this question?" Spider-Man says.
"Wait, you're only a kid?" the mysterious stranger asks in a confused tone.
"What makes you say that?" Spider-Man asks.
"I have special powers and heightened senses, I can tell you're 15 years old, 5 foot 8, 194 pounds and in perfect health. Why the hell are you risking your life when you're this young? There are so many better things you can be doing with your life," the stranger says adamantly.
"You're not talking me out of being Spider-Man. If I can save someone from a burning building or save someone's life, I'm gonna do it" Spider-Man says, standing firm.
"Fair enough. Each of us vigilantes risks our life for this city. I just hope you know what you're doing," the stranger responds.
Spider-Man looks back at the man in complete shock that he can know so much about him already. Peter continues to look at the man stepping out of the shadows, he's wearing a suit made entirely of spandex Spider-Man guesses. The color of the suit is blood red and there's an emblem stitched into the chest area of the suit of two capital D's intertwined together with a circle around the emblem. The head of the suit has seemingly red eyes and is crowned with two small horns just barely protruding out of the suit but enough to give Spider-Man an impression of who this mysterious stranger is.
"Wait a minute, I know who you are, you're the Devil of Hell's Kitchen. Dude, I thought you were just a myth. This is awesome, man" Spider-Man smiles under his mask.
"Actually, I prefer the name Daredevil but yes, the crooks and criminals of Hell's Kitchen have given me that name. Nice to finally meet you Spider-Man. I've heard a lot of chatter about you here lately. You haven't made the Kingpin very happy at all," the stranger responds.
"Yeah well, he almost killed the woman I love in the police precinct bombing back in August. And well, with great power comes great responsibility" Spider-Man says.
Daredevil pauses a moment to think about what Spider-Man just said to him.
"That's a great philosophy to live by. Who told you that?" Daredevil asks.
"My uncle… he's dead because of me, because of my inaction," Spider-Man replies in solemn tone.
Daredevil looks at Spider-Man, listens to his heartbeat and breathing rate, and can sense that he's telling the truth. Daredevil starts to respect Spider-Man a little bit for all the things he's heard about Spider-Man from Foggy considering his age.
"I have a friend, Foggy. He talks about you a lot. He's a big fan of yours, but anyways off topic. Okay, Spider-Man. So, you managed to take down a majority of Tombstone's gang and along with it a majority of the Kingpin's revenue. I assume you're here like me to find Tombstone and get him to tell us who the Kingpin is," Daredevil says.
"Yes, one of Tombstone's thugs talked to me and I got some information out of him. His real name is Lonnie Lincoln and only the people in the Kingpin's inner circle know who he is. Tombstone, Silvermane, Hammerhead, and others," Spider-Man answers.
As Spider-Man and Daredevil continue talking with each other they start to become more acquainted with each other as a bond of trust starts to form between them and a plan is hatched to take down Tombstone.
On the other side of Manhattan at Avengers Tower, Doctor Strange has arrived and is talking with the Avengers about the impending disaster. Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, and Black Widow are all there intently listening to Doctor Strange.
"Wait, wait, hold on a minute Strange. You're saying you looked into the future on accident and all of us get defeated one by one because of Loki and whatever the hell he's got planned?" Hawkeye asks.
"There's also the issue with Spider-Man," Wong interrupts.
"What do you mean with Spider-Man?" Captain America interjects.
"We can't find him, anywhere in Queens" Wong states.
"As much as we all admire Spider-Man here, we have a much bigger task at hand. Loki" Black Widow says trying to get everyone back to the task at hand.
"Well, it's a good thing we know something about his attack then. It's coming on the 23rd, in 4 days and it's an army that's coming," Doctor Strange reveals.
"An army? Like an invasion?" Iron Man asks.
"Yes, it appears Loki has control of a faction of an army called the Kree. Does that mean anything to any of you?" Doctor Strange wonders.
"The Kree? I haven't a clue. Thor, you have the most experience in otherworldly threats out of any of us. Do you know who or what this Kree army is?" Captain America asks Thor.
"Aye, Captain. The Kree are one of the most powerful warrior races in the known universe. Just the five of us won't be enough if they're coming here. Even if it's just a particular faction of their army," Thor says.
Silence falls upon the group of the 5 Avengers and Doctor Strange and Wong as they ponder their next move to stop Loki. Captain America is the first person to speak amongst the group again. Captain America looks over at Thor with a worried look in his eyes as they dart back and forth between each member of the Avengers.
"Strange, can you head over to the Baxter Building and warn the Fantastic Four of this as well?" Captain America asks.
Doctor Strange nods at Captain America before he starts speaking again, "One last thing, there's one singular portal that the Kree army comes through in my trips to the future I've taken over the past few months when Wong and I first had this vision on Halloween Night," Doctor Strange recalls.
"Only one entry point they come through? Well, that's at least some good news. It's going to limit the spread of their attack. We just need to find where that portal is and fast. We have 4 days, let's get to work," Captain America says.
Back at the autobody shop, Daredevil and Spider-Man wrap up their plan on how to take down the armed guards stealthily outside Tombstone's hideout and potentially taking down Tombstone as well.
"As we planned Spidey, you take the guys on the left and I got the ones on the right. We need to do this quietly," Daredevil says.
Spider-Man nods in agreement and jumps off the building, firing a webline and lands on top of a lamppost 40 feet off the ground. Spider-Man quickly fires a webshot, webbing one of the criminals' mouths shut and fires another webline to bring the criminal up to the lamppost wrapping him in a cocoon of webbing to avoid any noise being made by the criminal.
Daredevil on the other hand, is taking out the Tombstone thugs on the right and is knocking them out with his two billy clubs. Daredevil who has years worth of experience on the streets of Hell's Kitchen is taking down the Tombstone thugs silently, stealthily and faster than Spider-Man is able to. By the time Daredevil takes down all the thugs on his side he uses his radar senses to understand that Spider-Man still has 3 thugs left on his side as he can hear all 4 of their heartbeats. As soon as Spider-Man knocks out his next goon, he jumps of the side of the autobody shop and fires two impact webs from both webshooters webbing the last two thugs against the wall of the autobody shop.
"Nice moves Spidey. With time and more experience, you'll get better at moving around environments stealthily," Daredevil compliments Spider-Man.
"Thanks Daredevil, your moves aren't so bad yourself," Spider-Man smiles.
With all the armed thugs of Tombstone defeated quietly as to not raise any suspicion there's nothing standing in the way of Tombstone and the two heroes.
"Alright Spidey, Tombstone's not gonna be easy. He was exposed to the chemical DIOX-3 as a kid and it gave him invulnerable skin," Daredevil starts.
"Invulnerable? How?" Spider-Man asks.
"I've gone up against him before, barely escaping with my life. Punching him is like punching a steel pipe. But together I think we have a chance," Daredevil finishes.
"Like a steel pipe, huh? I think I might have an idea on how to make his skin a little less vulnerable, but I need to call a friend first. Odds are that there's probably a drug lab inside that autobody shop, right?" Spider-Man says.
"Yeah, I'd say those odds are pretty good. I can tell that only Tombstone is inside and no one else," Daredevil replies.
"Really, how?" Spider-Man wonders.
"I can hear his heartbeat," Daredevil responds.
It's 7:38 PM and Gwen Stacy is over at the Watson residence with Mary Jane and Harry Osborn celebrating the start of winter break when her phone rings. Gwen draws her phone out of her front jean pocket and sees that Peter is calling her, causing a subtle smile to creep upon her face.
"Hey Pete, you still in Hell's Kitchen?"
"Yeah, we haven't taken down Tombstone yet, but we took down a bunch of his men. Listen I—"
"We? Who's with you?"
"Another vigilante. The Devil of Hell's Kitchen."
"He's real? I thought he was just a myth."
"Yeah, me too. I guess we were both myth-taken. Listen, according to my new partner, Tombstone has invulnerable skin from being exposed to the chemical DIOX-3 as a kid. I think I have an idea for a potential antidote but I'm not entirely sure. I was thinking of using a particulated deblocking agent to counteract his invulnerable skin. That should work, right? I just wanted to run it by the smartest person I know."
Gwen blushes in front of MJ and Harry when Peter calls her smart.
"Yeah Pete, that should work but you need to make sure the deblocking agent will prevent his skin cells from utilizing oxygen. Something like benzamide or dimethylformamide. It needs to be an amide. The amide should stop cellular respiration within his skin cells leaving the only place for oxygen to enter his body through his mouth and nose and into his lungs."
"Perfect. It'll be like he's breathing at 10,000 feet instead of at sea level. Love you Gwendy, talk to you soon."
Gwen hangs up the phone and looks across at both Mary Jane and Harry who are both sharing and bowl of chips and salsa and staring at Gwen wondering and confused about what Peter was talking with Gwen about.
"Is Pete still seriously doing science problems or homework? It's winter break, he should be with us" Harry says.
"Peter is actually taking photos of Spider-Man right now and he's just trying to do some homework problems to pass the time. He should be back soon though," Gwen lies.
As soon as Gwen says this MJ immediately understands that Peter is still out there as Spider-Man trying to takedown Tombstone. MJ remembers her conversation earlier today at school with Peter and Gwen.
(Flashback)
"MJ, Gwen, this whole thing tonight with Tombstone, both Captain Stacy and I feel like we got this address way too easily. I-I think it might be a trap, if anything happens call this number," Peter says.
Peter starts to write out the number that Agent Mack from S.H.I.E.L.D. gave him in case he ever needed help. Mary Jane and Gwen both look confused at why Peter is writing out this phone number.
"Pete, nothing's going to happen to you. You got that spider sense of yours, remember?" Gwen says with her eyes full of concern for Peter.
"Tiger, Gwen's right. You're going to be fine. Why are you trying to scare us?" Mary Jane asks.
"Look, I'm not trying to scare you. It just feels like the calm before the storm right now. Everything just feels too easy. This is a just in case of emergency scenario, okay? Remember those federal agents who came to school a little while ago? This is their number, they know I'm Spider-Man but its okay, you can trust them. I promise," Peter tries to reassure his two best friends.
(Present)
MJ nods and looks over at Gwen who seems distracted at the moment and is looking out the window.
"Gwen, Peter's going to be just fine. He's taken pictures of Spider-Man hundreds of times before," MJ says trying to reassure Gwen.
Gwen just looks back over at Mary Jane, smiles, and walks over to join them in eating the chips and salsa.
Spider-Man and Daredevil both ready for Tombstone, now head into the autobody shop where an unsuspecting Tombstone awaits them both. Upon entering the autobody shop Spider-Man looks to his right and sees an empty makeshift drug lab with vials and drugs strewn throughout. To his left there are a bunch of rusty motorcycles that look as if they haven't been driven since the 1980s, and at the center is Tombstone drinking a bottle of scotch by himself.
"Daredevil, give me some time at the drug lab and I can make Tombstone's skin not so vulnerable. Just distract him for a few minutes while I make the antidote," Spider-Man whispers as silently as he can.
Daredevil just nods at Spider-Man as he walks up slowly behind Tombstone. Spider-Man on the other hand jumps onto the ceiling and silently wall crawls towards the drug lab to make the particulated deblocking agent, he just talked about with Gwen. Spider-Man silently lands at the drug lab and looks across it but doesn't see amides anywhere in sight.
"Great going to have to create an amide using the chemicals here," Spider-Man says in his head as he grabs a flask to mix the chemicals in.
Spider-Man sees a chemical vial marked "CH3OH" and another one marked "CH3NH2" as he hears Daredevil starting to talk to Tombstone.
"Tombstone, your drug empire ends tonight, last chance tell me who the Kingpin is," Daredevil threatens.
Using his enhanced senses Daredevil can hear Spider-Man speaking to himself in the drug lab about the drug concoction that he is currently making.
"Methanol and methylamine! This is perfect! I can add these two together as such and there will be excess water in the chemical equation but that's fine. Now to turn on this burner and boil the dimethylformamide into a vapor so Tombstone can breathe it in with one of these breathing masks that are just lying around all over the place."
"I'm at the top of my game Daredevil, why would I give away my trump card now?" Tombstone laughs.
Tombstone puts his scotch glass back down on the table and gets up from his chair ready to fight Daredevil, unaware that Spider-Man is in the drug lab right now. Daredevil whips out his billy clubs in response and charges towards Tombstone.
"You really think you can take me down by yourself? Last time you barely escaped with your life!" Tombstone taunts Daredevil.
Daredevil feels a change in the air currents in the autobody shop as Tombstone attempts to strike Daredevil down with his brass knuckles that he is wearing. Daredevil masterfully dodges and dives out of the way of Tombstone's punch and throws one of his billy clubs at Tombstone which strikes him in the face. Tombstone shakes off the billy club and throws it off to the side as if it had no effect on him as Daredevil hears Spider-Man back at the drug lab once again thanks to his enhanced senses.
"Perfect! It's all finished. Now to load the vapor into the breathing mask and help out Daredevil."
"Who said I was ever alone?" Daredevil smirks.
Spider-Man finishes up loading the antidote into the breathing mask and fires a webline towards Tombstone kicking him across the jaw. Spider-Man's kick causes Tombstone to stagger a couple steps backwards due to Spider-Man's strength but Tombstone is seemingly unfazed and uninjured from the kick. Spider-Man is surprised at how resistant and how strong Tombstone's skin is when he made contact with Tombstone's face.
"Man, you weren't lying. That really is like kicking a steel pipe," Spider-Man says to Daredevil.
"Spider-Man! You nearly destroyed my entire drug operation, you're a dead man walking!" Tombstone yells.
"Now Lonnie, do I really look like Sean Penn to you? I mean where's the resemblance?" Spider-Man quips.
Daredevil can't help but give a small chuckle at the joke Spider-Man made referencing the actor Sean Penn in the Dead Man Walking film. In the span of less than a second Spider-Man flips onto Tombstone's shoulders and forces the breathing mask loaded with the antidote onto Tombstone's face. Spider-Man stays on Tombstone's shoulders for as long as his strength allows him before Tombstone violently throws Spider-Man off and crashing into the group of old motorcycles and slamming him into the brick wall at the back of the autobody shop.
Daredevil can hear Spider-Man's heartbeat fluctuate and his rib bones scrapping against one another. He can tell Spider-Man is injured and hurting after being thrown into the old, vintage motorcycles.
"Oww… my ribs… definitely broken. Still gotta take Tombstone down," Spider-Man groans in pain.
Spider-Man looks on the ground and sees Daredevil's discarded billy club that he threw at Tombstone earlier. Ignoring the pain in his chest, Spider-Man picks up the billy club, picks himself off the ground, and throws the billy club directly at Tombstone. The billy club connects right with Tombstone's nose, dislocated it instantly and causing blood to come spurting out of it.
Daredevil turns to Spider-Man with his mouth wipe open in shock. He can hear the blood dripping down Tombstone's nose. The first time anyone has ever been able to do that to Tombstone.
"AHHHH! What the hell did you do to me Spider-Man?" Tombstone yells in anger and in pain.
"Oh, you know. Particulated deblocking agent. The usual," Spider-Man smiles through his pain.
Daredevil smiles and punches Tombstone across the jaw while bringing his knee right up to Tombstone's face, forcing him to fall down. Tombstone quickly gets back up, the fight is still on. Still ignoring the pain inside his chest, Spider-Man fires a webline flips up and knocks Tombstone out after executing the Martelo de Negativa move against Tombstone. Daredevil uses his radar sense to see what Spider-Man is doing to Tombstone as Spidey wraps him up in webbing insuring Tombstone can't escape and is still there when the police arrive. Daredevil can still hear Spider-Man's ribs scraping against each other, he can tell Spider-Man has 7 broken ribs in total, 4 left ribs and 3 right ribs.
(30 minutes later)
The police finally arrive at the scene of the autobody shop as Spider-Man is waiting alone with Tombstone still wrapped up in webbing. Daredevil is long gone since he usually avoids meeting with the police because of his typical brutal antics when it comes to crime fighting, or at least that's what Daredevil told Spider-Man his reason for leaving was. The first police squad car comes to a screeching halt and Captain Stacy and Yuri both pop out of the cruiser and run over towards Spider-Man.
"Spider-Man is that—" Yuri starts.
"Tombstone aka Lonnie Lincoln in all his glory. All the evidence you need to lock him up is in that autobody shop over there," Spider-Man says nodding his head towards the autobody shop while clutching his chest in pain.
"Spider-Man, are you okay?" Captain Stacy asks, concerned for Spider-Man since he secretly knows Spider-Man is Peter Parker.
"I'll be fine. Tombstone broke 4 or 5 of my ribs during our fight, maybe more. I'll heal, eventually," Spider-Man says gritting his teeth through the pain.
Spider-Man jumps onto a nearby building and starts to painfully wall crawl up it while looking back at Yuri and Captain Stacy. Spider-Man is glad that Tombstone is finally arrested, another domino has fallen in Kingpin's criminal empire. But still, nobody knows who the Kingpin is, even after Daredevil tortured Tombstone with pain for it.
"I can't believe Daredevil did that to Tombstone and tortured him. Broke both his wrists painfully and unnecessarily, makes me sick what he did to Tombstone to get information from him, and it still didn't work," Spider-Man says to himself as he reaches the top of the building he was crawling up.
Spider-Man starts to walk across the roof of the building when his spider sense goes off without warning. Spider-Man jumps and twists his body as fast as he can as he listens to his spider sense but its no use. Thanks to his injured and broken ribs, Spider-Man's reaction time is much slower and is met with an extreme amount of pain as he lands back on the ground. Several projectiles were thrown at Spider-Man and are now impaled in his leg.
"A-Are these playing c-cards?" Spider-Man asks as he pulls one of the projectiles out that got impaled in his right leg.
"Spider-Man, the Kingpin has quite the bounty on you. $3 million in total if I deliver you to him alive. Now he didn't say you couldn't be hurt before then, though," a man dressed in primarily black says to Spider-Man.
More projectiles are thrown towards Spider-Man at a lethal speed, this time it's a shuriken. Spider-Man does a backflip over the first shuriken, but the next two hit Spider-Man in the chest, causing Spider-Man to double over in pain from the shurikens and his broken ribs.
"AHHHH!" Spider-Man screams in pain.
Spider-Man's vision starts to fade in and out as he realizes the pain he's experiencing is getting to much for his body to handle. Spider-Man tries his hardest to concentrate on the man in black who's attacking him as his vision and consciousness keeps going in and out.
"W-Who are you?" Spider-Man stammers as he stumbles around losing his balance.
"Oh, getting sleepy on me, are you Spider-Man? The name's Bullseye, not that you'll remember it though. You see, the Kingpin offered me $3 million to deliver you to him, alive. So, everything that I've hit you with so far has been laced with a powerful sedative to insure maximum cooperation," Bullseye laughs.
As Spider-Man fights to stay conscious, he continues to sway and stagger his steps across the rooftop close to the edge as his spider sense and reflexes slow down Spider-Man grows weaker and weaker while Bullseye waits to strike and bring his body to the Kingpin.
Down below Captain Stacy and Yuri both hear Spider-Man scream and immediately look up at the rooftop with horror and concern for Spider-Man.
"Captain, do you think that's Spider-Man up there?" Yuri asks.
"It has to be, Yuri. We have to get up there and—" Captain Stacy says.
The words are taken right out of George Stacy's mouth as they see Spider-Man fall off the rooftop and down onto the parking lot of the autobody shop on top of an abandoned car close by to Yuri and George Stacy. Spider-Man isn't moving at all following his fall from the rooftop, he's unconscious and severely injured.
Bullseye hops down from the rooftop and fires two shurikens at both Yuri and Captain Stacy's hearts before they can run over to help Spider-Man. The shurikens hit them both in the chest knocking them both to the ground, for the time being.
(2 minutes later)
"Thank god we were both wearing that new Kevlar armor the department got us, otherwise we'd be dead," Captain Stacy tells Yuri.
Yuri and Captain Stacy get up and yank the shurikens from their body armor and look back towards where Spider-Man was. He's no longer there, the body is completely gone and so is that mysterious assailant who threw the shurikens at them. Captain Stacy who knows that Peter Parker is Spider-Man immediately starts to worry for his daughter. How can he tell Gwen that her boyfriend isn't coming home?
"Yuri, hop in the cruiser and take Tombstone to Ryker's and book him. I'm going to stay here and coordinate the search for Spider-Man. Any other officers you trust, send them my way," Captain Stacy orders.
Back at the Watson residence, Gwen is still hanging out and having a blast with Mary Jane and Harry when she gets a call on her phone. Thinking it's Peter, Gwen excitingly picks up her phone until she sees the caller ID, her father. Disappointed it's not Peter, but still happy it's her dad calling, Gwen answers the call.
"Hey dad, what's up? Did you guys catch Tombstone tonight? Sorry, Peter kind of told me what you two talked about early this morning."
Hearing Peter's name George lets out a long, depressed sigh over the phone that Gwen can hear.
"Dad, is everything alright?"
"What? Yeah, don't worry Gwennie, everything is fine. We got Tombstone and arrested him, thanks to Spider-Man."
Gwen smiles when her dad mentions Spider-Man, and all of her worries fly out the window as Gwen looks back over at MJ and Harry who were sharing a kiss at that moment. Gwen quickly looks back at the window she was staring at earlier.
"But Gwennie, something else unrelated has come up and I likely won't be back home tonight. Feel free to spend the night at Mary Jane's tonight, but you're not to go over to Peter's house tonight, understood?"
"Okay, dad I promise I won't go over there. Don't worry."
Gwen ends the call and finds that both MJ and Harry are staring at her wondering what the call was about. A nervous smile creeps upon Gwen's face as she tells her friends what it was about.
"That was just my dad guys. He's not going to be making it back home tonight because of work. MJ, is it alright if I spend the night here tonight?" Gwen tells her friends.
"Gwen, of course you can. I have a trundle underneath my bed that you can pull out and sleep on," Mary Jane smiles.
"Thanks, MJ. I appreciate it," Gwen says as she hugs Mary Jane.
Mary Jane looks back at Gwen and looks across the carpeted living room over at Harry, with Peter Parker and Harry Osborn both on her mind. MJ decides to tell Gwen the truth about her feelings for Peter.
"Hey Gwen, can we talk upstairs in my room real quick?" MJ asks.
"Yeah, of course" Gwen responds.
"Sorry Harry, girl talk. No boys allowed," MJ says as Harry starts to follow the girls.
(Upstairs in MJ's room)
"MJ, what's up? Are you okay? You know you can tell me anything, right?" Gwen reassures MJ.
"Thanks Gwen. It's about Peter. Y-You deserve and have the right to know how I feel about him. I-I like Peter and have feelings for him, but I also have strong feelings for Harry too. And I know how much you love Peter, and I don't want to get in the way of that. I just want Peter to be happy and I can tell that being with you Gwen, you've made Peter the happiest person on the face of the planet. But I'm also really happy being with Harry, he makes me feel amazing," Mary Jane finishes.
"Oh wow. MJ, I didn't know you felt that way about Peter, but it's okay. You didn't do anything wrong. You can't control how you feel about people and plus you're dating Harry now while I'm dating Pete," Gwen walks up to MJ and gives her a long hug and then walks back down to Harry.
At the north end of Hell's Kitchen, Bullseye arrives at the Kingpin's office with Spider-Man's injured and still unconscious body slumped over his shoulders. The Kingpin turns around in his office chair, with a new desk now since he smashed his old one, with a gigantic smile on his face seeing the limp body of Spider-Man now at his mercy.
"Kingpin, he's pretty badly injured, but I can confirm Spider-Man is alive but currently is heavily sedated to ensure his cooperation in getting here. He won't wake up for a few days. Now as for my bounty…" Bullseye reports to Kingpin.
"Wesley, wire $3 million towards Bullseye for his spectacular gift to us tonight," Kingpin smiles.
Bullseye nods and exits the Kingpin's office quietly and without a sound. Kingpin just looks and stares at the unconscious figure of Spider-Man that is lying on his desk. He could kill Spider-Man right now and there wouldn't be any fight, but Kingpin wants to make Spider-Man suffer agony and pain for all the suffering Spider-Man has caused Kingpin. For that to happen he needs Spider-Man to be awake and conscious when he finally unmasks him and finds out who he is. Within the next hour, Kingpin has Spider-Man strapped down to a chair using zip ties and duct tape to ensure he doesn't escape with his increased strength that the Kingpin has heard about from his own men.
Note: That's Chapter 12 in the books! So, for this particular story I will have Spider-Man team up with the Avengers, but I still want this to be a Spider-Man story first and foremost while building tension for the upcoming battle that the Avengers will partake in soon. Part II of this story is coming soon, so stay tuned! I hope you all enjoyed this chapter, I am really trying to get better at the crossover chapters in this story, since they seem to be the weakest part of this entire story so far, at least in my opinion. Please let me know any criticisms on how to improve these stories, as it really is helpful and I do take them to heart.

Yeah, I choose those specific words with purpose. I'm glad you caught onto them. I'm glad you thought the chapter was pretty romantic, I was trying to get that point across. As if it's the calm before the storm that this chapter is for Spider-Man. Only 4 days now until the devastating event that Wong and Doctor Strange predicted… with Spider-Man captured, oh and Daredevil will return.

Thanks for all the compliments, I appreciate it! I really like to include these touching moments for Peter and Gwen as you said, going to try and do some of those for MJ soon. She's still an important person in Peter's life. And yes, that last chapter really was the calm before the storm that this chapter is.

There's no need to apologize for the long reviews, I genuinely look forward to reading them. This is my first story so I know it's not going to be perfect, so I'm looking for all the advice I can get whether it's compliments, advice, or criticism. I'm grateful for all of it. I'm glad you're enjoying the story!
Now as far as MJ is concerned, you're right and I do want to get her more involved in the story and I'm planning on doing that with this and the next few chapters. I want there to be a nice balance between MJ, Harry, Gwen, Peter, and someone else I'm planning on adding to the story in one of the next few chapters. Thanks for the advice and criticism about Gwen and her insecurities, I'll definitely keep that in mind going forward. In regards to MJ and Harry now dating I tried to explore that a little bit in this chapter and give an explanation of what changed or happened, but I'm definitely going to do some more exploring of that later down the line. Thanks for all the support, I really do appreciate it.
