What if Peri bottled up her anger?

Queen.

The queen to the late King Yrcanos. The Warrior Queen, battling and feasting, dancing and lying on furs on bed.

Not bad for a girl from Baltimore.

But still, Peri Brown felt nothing but resentment and fury.

When she first met the Doctor, he had been a complete gentleman, caring for her and protecting her. Looking after her and Erimem when they were in danger, when they didn't understand what was happening. Of course, no-one could replace her mom, but at least while she travelled, Peri felt part of a family.

But then, in the blink of an eye, he had changed.

His thick hands around her throat, that was the moment that Peri knew the man she secretly loved was gone.

She should have seen this. Of course she had clung to the nearest man who said he would help. Peri was worse than her mother. When her father had died, Peri's mother had married Howard. A seemingly kind, caring man with secretly wandering hands...

Peri missed her mother deeply. When Peri had made a quick trip back to 1985 Baltimore, Cyberman technology had accidentally destroyed both her house and her mother. The only reason Peri rejoined the Doctor was because she had nothing left.

But things seemed to get worse.

Everywhere she went, men seemed to want to control her. Sharaz Jerk, Kiv, Borad. Yrcanos. Basically it seemed that every man wanted her and Peri couldn't bear it. To be completely honest, Peri told herself, the only guy she'd had feelings for on her travels who seemed to be just as friendly in return was Jamie and the Doctor said he'd gone back to his own time.

Peri lay awake in bed, staring up at the roof of the four-poster above her. At least Yrcanos had tried at first. When she'd finally been rescued from the unfortunate fate of having her mind literally wiped, Yrcanos had ordered that she be cared for while she recovered. At his castle, but hey, he did his best.

When it became apparent that the Doctor was never coming back, Peri had sat forlornly on a low wall in the castle grounds. It was at that moment that Yrcanos proposed to her. With no other option, Peri belatedly accepted.

Now it was the one-year anniversary and Peri felt the resentment bottle up inside of her.

Not just the anger at everyone who had been cruel to her, both human and non-human. At the Doctor for leaving her behind. From what she had heard from Yrcanos – receiving second-hand information from various visitors from across the galaxies – the Doctor believed that she had died, then the Time Lords did – something – with the timeline so that there were at least five of her.

Peri smirked as she could imagine the Doctor looking exhausted and stating that one Peri Brown was enough.

But he never came for her, even when he found out she was alive. Maybe he thought that Peri would be happy with Yrcanos.

He never even said goodbye.

Used and abused and thrown around...

Tortured, abandoned and leered at...

No more, Peri told herself as she reached down by the side of her bed and clutched at her sword. No more.

While Yrcanos was going to another battle, Peri made sure that her sword was altered. Now it would burst into fire if she pressed a button.

She asked questions about Yrcanos' battle tactics. He was pleasantly surprised that his wife wanted to take part in his conquests, but he eagerly explained.

Soon Peri knew about which warlords were the wickedest. Which had committed vicious atrocities. But most of all, which men had had their wives killed, had bedded ladies-in-waiting, which had harems.

Soon she had more extensions carried out. While Yrcanos flew in a chariot (one that Peri suspected was actually a hoverboard with a small air pocket) drawn by four black horse...things...Peri took hers one step further.

Whenever anyone saw the Warrior Queen's golden chariot emerging from the heavens like a comet, pink streamers hung from behind, giving the appearance of gigantic dragon-like wings flapping.

Yrcanos attacked on the battlegrounds, but Peri and her legion would head for a castle.

And when she struck, she always headed to a king or emperor's bedchambers, her trusty sword slaughtering them in their beds. The flames and blood mingled together as she walked barefoot in the gardens, a twisted smile on her face.

The poems and songs of the Warrior Queen travelled the cosmos. But rather than a noble lady using strategy in war, they were of the bloodthirsty lady of war striking at the most evil of men directly.

In time Peri's favourite musings while she fell asleep would be the looks on their faces. The last face they ever saw being hers as she wielded her sword and sealed their fates.
