Their lives were so much easier now that the whole of New York knew about them, they could walk the streets without people freaking out and running at the mere sight of them. Ever since they had been publicly accepted into the modern society, Rex and his friends were given free roam, allowing them to do as they pleased and not have to stay secluded at the museum all the time. It had been several months since the incident with Screweyes but the feeling of those heavy shackles around his ankles still hadn't completely gone away. Rex couldn't make that one particular memory disappear from his mind, even after talking with the others, it still didn't help. Although he did find out that Dweeb did have nightmares every now and then about that terrible day. Elsa had them a time or two but she decided to talk to Captain Neweyes and even Dr. Bleeb, which seemed to help greatly. With a little coxing, Elsa also got Dweeb and Woog to talk to her too, as she knew they had a couple of nightmares as well. Rex was the only one who remained silent about that day. He was choosing to hide those thoughts away and hoping they would disappear as if they never happened at all if he simply ignored them long enough. Though the dinosaurs were close with one another, they never pried into each other's personal thoughts and feelings unless they were asked to first.
With time to himself today, he decided to go for a walk in the park as he so often did. It had become part of his morning routine as of late, much to the curiosity of his friends. Rex was at his favorite spot in the park, a cool spot by the lake where he could comfortably lay beneath a large willow tree in the shade to enjoy the peacefulness around him. The cool grass felt good on his underbelly and the smell of the flowers always filled him with of a sense of calm. He often found himself reflecting on his life and the strange turn it took after being captured by Captain Neweyes. He was forever grateful to the Captain for bringing him and his friends here to this time where people were now accepting them into their world and sharing it with them.
His friends had also found other people to interact with besides Louie and Cecilia, Elsa often spent time with Cecilia and her family but also made a few new female friends at a socialite club not far from the museum where she and the others slept. Woog had befriended an Italian man in Little Italy and spent most of the time helping at the resturant, either testing new recipes or entertaining their guests with stories and songs. Dweeb meanwhile had found a calling to help out with the homeless people on the streets and at the shelters as he was very caring and always made a point to at least speak to them everyday. Each was making a difference in their own way in their new home and the people of the city loved them for it. Rex however had yet to really interact with anyone personally other than Louie and Cecilia the way his friends had. Even when he was in the park, he mostly kept to himself, although if someone happened by him and acknowledged him, he would in turn do the same. The only other person he really spoke to was an old man who came to feed the ducks and pigeons in the park but other than that, he usally sought some alone time.
However today he wasn't the only one in the area of the park, there was a young woman standing some distance away from Rex with her easel and paints. She was a beautiful young woman with bright green eyes and thick light blonde hair that reached her waist. Since she had set up her easel she had easily chosen Rex as her muse, she had painted the area of the park in front of her, with both the lake and t-rex situated at it's center. When she glanced back in his direction she noticed him looking at her curiously. She merely offered him a smile as she put the finishing touches to her painting before waving him over. Rex tilted his head curiously at her before finding his feet and making his way over to the young woman who had asked him to come over. "Hello Miss.." he greeted. "Hello Rex," she replied with a soft smile on her lips. He arched a brow at her, "you know my name?" he asked. She let a soft laugh pass through her lips, "honey everyone in New York knows your name," she replied playfully. He let a smirk play on his scaly lips, "honey?" he laughed. She giggled, "don't put too much thought into it. I was raised in the country and back home we call each other that, it's what we call a friendly endearment," she explained. He merely nodded his head to let her know he had heard her, "so uh...what has you here in the park today?" he asked curiously as he sat next to her. "I came to find inspiration for my paintings," she answered. "And did you find it?" Rex asked. "Yes I did..." she replied as she turned her easel to allow the dinosaur to see the image she had painted. Upon seeing the image his eyes widened slightly, "you...you painted me?" he asked. She nodded her head, "yes...when I saw you laying beside the lake looking out at the scenery, I couldn't think of anything better to paint," she said placing the painting back on the easel. He found himself smiling, "you are very talented..." he commented. "Thank you..." she replied as she cleaned her brushes. "How long have you been coming here?" Rex asked, bedding up in the soft grass. The young woman was silent for a moment as she contemplated her answer, "I've been coming here since I moved here about three years ago." "Doesn't sound like very long," Rex commented. She laughed, "it's not to some, but to me it feels like it though. Being raised in the countryside in the south and then coming to the big city, feels like a world away." Rex could certainly understand that feeling, "I can understand that part at least. Where my friends and I come from is..well...a time away really." "Oh..." she made her bright green eyes meet his dark ones curiously, "how so?" "Well..." Rex placed his claw to his chin briefly before answering, "it's nothing like this...it's a jungle surrounded by marshland and at it's center a volcano..." he let a sigh pass through his lips, "it's been so long since we were there..." he said in almost a whisper. The young woman moved to sit beside Rex as she asked her question, "are you feeling a little homesick?" she asked. Rex was silent for a moment or two as he remembered hearing the term from Cecilia a time or two, "yeah...*sigh*...I guess I am, a little," he admitted. "Well it's only natural, being use to a place for so long and then up and leave it behind...makes sense that you would miss it," the young woman stated. "Hmn..." was Rex's only response and it was then that something occured to him, "may I know your name?" he asked. She smiled at him, "my name is Lily...Lily Rose." Rex found him smiling, "that's a lovely name." "Well thank ya," she replied.
The pair spent most of the day chatting about idle things, passing the time and enjoying each other's company. Each sharing with the other about themselves, friends and even bits about their families. By the time the sun was beginning to set both Rex and Lily seemed to have formed a real friendship, "you know something Lily..." she made her green eyes meet his dark gaze, "you're the only one I've ever told anything about my family. I haven't really told my friends about them...you're just so easy to talk to." She just smiled at him, "well I feel very privileged that you shared all that with me and I promise..." he looked at the young woman thoughtfully, "I'll keep this just between us." "Thank you Lily," Rex replied. She nodded her head as a yawn pass through her lips, "are you tired?" Rex asked. "Yeah a little and I'll still have to walk home," she stated. "Where do you live?" Lily looked up at Rex curiously, "I can take you there." Lily's eyes widened slightly upon hearing Rex's offer, "besides it's not a good idea for a lovely lady such as yourself to walk home alone." A soft gasp passed through her lips and upon hearing what he said, Rex had a light blush on his scaly cheeks. Silence hung around them briefly before either of them spoke, "I'd like that...to have you walk me home I mean," Lily answered with a light blush on her cheeks. Rex merely offered her a smile while he waited for Lily to gather her painting supplies and once she had, she came to stand at Rex's shoulder, "would you prefer to walk or would you like to ride upon my back?" he asked. Lily couldn't keep the smile off her face, "well if you are alright with it, I'd like to ride on your back." He smiled at her and lowered his head and offered his clawed-hand to her, "here I'll help you up," he offered. "Thank you Rex," she replied as she carefully stepped into his palm and allowed him to lift her up onto his back. Once she was seated, he turned his head, "are you comfortable up there?" he asked. "Yes Rex I am, thank you..." she replied. A moment or two of silence passed between them before Rex spoke, "so which way is home?" he asked. She gave him the location of her home and he began to make his way in that direction.
As Rex walked there was a comfortable silence around the pair and Lily found herself feeling very much content there with Rex. How could she not be? He was friendly and so kind hearted, he was nothing like she expected a t-rex like him to be, "you know something Rex?" Rex glanced over his shoulder at Lily briefly, "what?" "Now I hope you don't take this the wrong way but you're nothing like I wase expecting," Lily replied. "In what way?" he asked curiously. "Well I was always told that dinosaurs like you were ruthless and Kings of the dinosaur world," she replied but continued, "but after spending time with you and getting to know you, I can see there's a lot more to you than I ever thought possible." Rex had to smile at her words, "yeah I'm sure there are plenty of stories about my kind being that way and if it hadn't been for Captain Neweyes I would still be that way." "I believe you're one of the lucky ones," Lily commented. "Yeah I believe so too," Rex replied with a smile.
The pair fell into a comfortable silence as they continued onward and were soon at Lily's apartment building. The walk itself would've taken Lily a while to complete but for Rex it was nothing, he was a large dinosaur and had a long stride. "Well this is me," Lily said with a smile, "thank you for bringing home Rex." "Oh you're welcome Lily. Did you enjoy the ride?" Rex replied as he lowered himself down to the ground in order to help her down. "Yes I did...never imagined that I'd get a ride from a t-rex," she answered. Once he was laying down he lifted his claw up and upon doing so, she carefully stepped into his palm and was brought carefully down to the ground. Though she was standing at his side Rex remained laying on the ground for a moment longer, "I'd be happy to bring you home anytime you like Lily," the rex added. "You'd really do that for me?" she asked. "Of course...I enjoyed your company..." he admitted. A light blush played on Lily's cheeks, "I enjoyed your company too Rex," she then surprised him by placing a little peck on the cheek. Upon feeling this Rex's eyes widened slightly as he turned his head to look at her curiously and he found warmth on his cheeks. Lily smiled up at him, "goodnight Rex..." "Night Lily," he replied in almost a whisper. She offered him one more smile before walking into her apartment building for the night. He watched her disappear from view before standing up to his full height and making his way back to the museum for the night.
As he made his way back to the museum Rex found himself smiling and it remained on his face even after he arrived at the museum. Upon stepping through the door of the museum he was greeted by Dr. Bleeb, "there you are Rex...I was beginning to worry about you," she admitted. "Sorry Dr. Bleeb but I was walking a young lady home, I wanted to make sure she got there safely," he replied apologetically. The gray-haired woman merely offered the rex a smile, "well that was very sweet of you, making sure that young lady got home. You're a good rex, Rex..." she praised. He merely smiled at her, "well you should try and get some sleep, I imagine you're a little tired," she suggested kindly. As he was about to answer a yawn passed through his scaly lips, "yeah I guess I should..." he replied tiredly. "Sleep well Rex and sweet dreams to you," she remarked before walking away. Rex stood there a moment more before making his way into the room where his friends slept, making sure to remain quiet so as not to wake the others.
Upon entering he could see his friends sleeping peacefully around the lava lamp-style heater in the center of the room so all four dinosaurs remained comfortable while they slept. He could hear both Woog and Dweeb snoring while Elsa remained silent. Rex let a soft sigh pass through his lips as he lay down, curling his tail around himself as he relaxed on the soft fur-like rug that Dr. Bleeb had given him to sleep on. In truth she had given each dinosaur one to lay on except for Elsa, Dr. Bleeb had given the pterodactyl a large pillow that she could huddle down into like a warm nest when she slept. She had done more than her fair share to ensure they were comfortable and happy in their new home.
The tyrannosaurus reflected on his day with Lily and was delightfully surprised that he had been able to relate to her so easily and she to him. Both were in a new place and getting use to their new lives, he found himself smiling as another yawn passed through his lips before laying his head down and slipping off to sleep.
When the sun rose the next morning it shone in through the windows of the museum, bathing the front room with it's light. It didn't shine into the room where the dinosaurs were sleeping however, so none knew that it was even beginning to rise into the sky. Each dinosaur slept soundly but only one wasn't having a pleasant dream, Rex was twisting and turning as if fighting some invisible force...he was having a bad dream.
Rex's Dream:
In the dream, he saw himself back under the big top of Screweyes' circus tent, wild on the brain drain he'd been given with Louie at his feet in tears, pleading with him not to kill the professor. "I know you can't understand me but you gotta," he heard the boy say something else after that as he approached but paid him little mind as he turned his eyes back to the scared man in his claws. "What's life for? I know I act like I'm the original tough guy but that's because I'm scared too," Louie stated. Rex let his eyes rest on the boy for the briefest of moments but then it turned bad, he raised his foot up just as Louie turned his eyes down the floor to remove the costume he had been wearing. When he looked back up at the tyrannosaurus above him, he was greeted with a shock, Rex's foot coming towards him, "Rex! NOOO!" The last thing that was heard was screams from the terrified people around him.
End of Dream:
Rex was jolted out of his dream as he called out, "no Louie!" he half-shouted. He was panting heavily from the adrenaline rush of the nightmare and his heart was pounding in his chest. When he looked around to see he was in the museum with his friends and they were peacefully sleeping around him, he let his head fall back down on the rug he was laying on. He closed his eyes and covered them with his claws, "thank goodness...it was only a bad dream..." he said to himself. A heavy sigh of relief passed through his scaly lips as he once more raised his head but remained bedded. He let his eyes rest on the lava lamp-style heater in their room to maybe ease his mind a little. However he found that he couldn't shake the feeling the nightmare had left him with. He shook his head slightly as he decided to get up, "perhaps a walk in the early morning air will help me clear my head." He carefully stood up then glanced at his friends before quietly walking out of the room, making sure not to make a sound so he wouldn't wake up his friends.
When he made it to the front room he found that the sun was shining in through one of the windows and for a moment he stood in the early rays of the sun, allowing it to warm his scales. He purred in delight at the warmth that the sun's rays brought to his body which seem to ease his mind a little bit. He remained there for a few minutes until the sunlight shifted slightly then made up his mind to go on his morning walk as he always did.
Upon exiting the museum, much to his surprise, many people were already out and about this morning. A few acknowledged him as they passed by or gave him a friendly honk of their horn, to which he waved back and offered a friendly smile. Then taking in a deep breath of the early morning air and letting it out slowly, he found that he felt a bit better. He carefully made his way in the direction of the park, making a note to come straight back since they would be receiving visitors today and he didn't want to miss it. He walked along, being ever mindful of the people and traffic as he continued towards the park. He also found himself humming a tune to himself, the very one he sang in the parade shortly after they arrived in New York. Rex had to catch himself a few times as humming the jazzy beat almost made him start dancing. He shook his head slightly to regain his senses as he entered the park, "it's always so peaceful, no matter the time of day.." he remarked as he walked along the path he always took. He soon found himself by his favorite spot in the park and smiled when he saw how the early morning sunlight reflected off the lake's surface.
Now standing by the willow tree, he listened to the sounds of nature around him, the birds chirping, the gentle breeze blowing through the limbs of the willow bringing with it the smells of flowers growing nearby. He sat himself down beneath the tree and just listened to the sounds around him however there was one more sound that reached his ears as he sat there, "good morning Rex." He turned his head upon hearing her voice, "Lily..." he said in almost a whisper. "Well fancy finding you out here so early," she said, giving the rex a smile. "Morning Lily...you know I do enjoy the park especially in the mornings," Rex said giving her a smile of his own. She came to sit next to him as she spoke, "yes I know but I never imagined you'd be out this early, not even the chickens are up this early," she joked. Rex let a soft chuckle rattle from his throat, "yeah well..." he rubbed the back of his neck in a very human-like manner. Lily took notice, "something on your mind this morning big guy?" she asked. At first Rex looked away briefly as he was unsure if he should confide in her about what was bothering him. But then after thinking about it for a minute, he realized that today was no different than yesterday really and besides he had opened up to her once already so he decided to open up to her again. "You could say that..." he stated. "Do you want to talk about it?" she asked kindly, "cause I'm hear to listen." He offered her a small smile before speaking, "it's just I had a bad dream is all and it kinda...scared me a little." Lily had to bite her tongue to keep from giggling as the thought of a tyrannosaurus rex being afraid of anything was a bit passed between them briefly before Lily responded to Rex, "I didn't think a t-rex like yourself would be afraid of anything but then again before meeting you though I had never met one." Rex found a bit of amusement in her words as she continued, "but as far as nightmares go they can certainly unsettle someone, I know I've had a few of those before." Rex nodded his head to let Lily know he had heard her, "so what was in your nightmare? If you don't mind me askin' that is?" she said. With a slight shake of his head, he answered her, "I don't mind you asking Lily if anything I'm kinda glad you did. I feel like I need to talk to someone about this otherwise it might drive me crazy." "I'm here to listen to whatever is bothering you Rex and maybe it'll help you feel better," she encouraged. He smiled at her as he began to reveal what had been in his nightmare, "well um...in my nightmare I was still under the circus tent where my friends and I were chained to the platform we were standing on," he explained. "Professor Screweyes' circus tent?" she asked. Rex's eyes widened slightly, "you've heard of him?" he asked curiously. "Yeah there ain't many people that don't know that name. Not after that whole incident was captured on video cameras. But go on..." she replied kindly. He let a soft sigh pass through his lips, "well...he had given us something called brain drain and it made us the wild dinosaurs we were before Capatin Neweyes found us. Anyway I was standing there with Screweyes in my claw ready to eat him when my friend Louie came over to me, to try and snap me out of the hold the brain drain had on me. At first I didn't really pay much attention to him but as he got closer to me, I look in his direction and see him in tears because of what I was doing." Lily was sympathetic to the dinosaur, "that brain drain sounds like some nasty stuff if it does that to ya," she said shaking her head in disgust. "Yeah it is, it's like I was watching someone else control my body but...it was me if that makes any sense," the rex replied. "Around here we call that an out of the body experience," she replied. "That's what it felt like too," Rex said. "Louie sounds like a really brave kid if he approached you while you were like that," Lily added. "Yes he is, a bit too much sometimes," he joked. Lily let a soft laugh pass through her lips as Rex continued, "Louie really did bring me out of that haze but in the dream..." he took a shaky breath as he tried to keep his emotions in check, "he had turned his back to me for a moment to take off the costume he was wearing and while he was doing this I raise up my foot and I..." Lily could see the emotion in Rex's eyes as he was trying not to break down in front of her, "oh Rex..." she said in almost a whisper. Rex couldn't even finish his sentence as he covered his eyes with his clawed-hands, "it was awful..." he said. Lily moved closer to the rex and placed a gentle hand on his leg, "I'm sure it was.." she whispered. "If that had actually happened..." he let his hands fall from his face, "then I don't know if I would've ever been able to forgive myself." Lily could clearly see the tears that were filling the dinosaur's eyes, "you poor thing..." she moved to stand up and wrap her arms partially around him and nuzzling her cheek against his chest. Upon feeling her touch, Rex looked at her with slightly widened eyes but made no move to get away from her, "I know we haven't known each other very long but I know you would never hurt anyone for any reason, good or bad." After hearing her words, he felt touched by them and by her gesture, "she's so kind to me." Once the surprise was gone, he carefully brought up a claw to rest on her back, to return the hug she was giving him, "thank you Lily.." he purred. He felt her smile against his chest, "you're welcome Rex.." she whispered.
Back at the museum the others were starting to wake up, "*yawn* good morning..." Elsa said stretching herself. "Mornin'..." Dweeb said looking to his right, "hey where's Rex?" he said. Woog raised his head groggily, "he *yawn* probably went on his morning walk. You know he's made that part of his day." "Maybe so but still he knows we have those visitors coming today," Dweeb said. "I'm sure he'll be back in time to see our visitors...he seemed so excited about it," Elsa reasoned. It was then that Dr. Bleeb entered the room with some food for her guests, "good morning to you..." she greeted as she set the food down for the dinosaurs. "Dr. Bleeb have you seen Rex this morning?" Elsa asked. The gray-haired woman glanced at the female as she spoke, "no dear I haven't...was he not here when you all woke up?" she asked. "No he wasn't and we don't know where he might've gone," Dweeb added. "I'm sure he's fine, Rex is...well a rex, anything would have to be crazy to mess with him," Woog reasoned. Silence hung in the room for a moment before anyone spoke, "Woog you may be right and besides Rex takes his walk every morning. He is a creature of habit just like the rest of us, we are all that way. So you needn't worry, I'm sure Rex will be back shortly," Dr. Bleeb reasoned. Elsa looked down slightly before speaking, "well...I guess you're right." The two males nodded their heads in agreement, "anyway you all should eat something, I'll come back before our visitors arrive.." the elder woman said before walking away. "I hopes she's right," Dweeb said as he and the others began to eat the food that they'd been given.
Back in the park Rex was still sitting in his favorite spot with Lily snuggled against him, gently stroking the scales on his arm, "your scales are so much smoother than I thought they'd be," Lily said at one point. Rex glanced away bashfully, "yes well...I suppose not many can say that they've ever touched a dinosaur before," he reasoned. Lily laughed, "no I suppose not..." she let her hand rest in her lap, "so what are you and your friends up to today?" she asked curiously. "We're supposed to have some visitors come to the museum today," Rex answered. "Do you know who?" she asked to which Rex shook his head. "Hmm..." Lily was quiet for moment with Rex looking at her curiously, "do you think it could be a surprise for you and your friends?" she wondered. Rex shrugged his shoulders, "to be honest I don't know, Dr. Bleeb didn't tell us who they are." A moment of silence passed between them before a thought struck Rex, "hey um Lily...I was wondering, would you maybe want to come back to the museum with me?" She looked up at him curiously, "I'd like you to meet my friends," he asked. She gave him a soft smile, "I'd love to meet them." Rex couldn't hide his smile, "come on we can head back right now." "Alright.." Lily said standing up with Rex lowering his head, "want to ride back?" he asked with a knowing smile. Lily smiled back at him and nodded her head, Rex then offered his claw to her and helped up onto his back. "You good up there Lily?" he asked after a moment. "I'm good Rex..." she replied.
With that Rex began to make his way back to the museum, walking along the path he always took. As he walked he felt Lily stroking his neck tenderly, enjoying the feel of his scales beneath her fingertips. The walk didn't take long and soon Rex reached the doors of the museum, "we're here Lily..." he stated as he opened the door and walked inside. "Wow...I don't think I've ever been here before," she said as they made their way through the rooms and back to where the other dinosaurs were. "Dr. Bleeb fixed us up a spot back here so we'd have a place to sleep or whatever," Rex explained. Lily nodded her head to let him know she had heard him and upon walking through the curtain he found his friends talking amongst themselves.
"You know I'm starting to get worried. What if Rex doesn't come back?" Dweeb said. "Oh come man you know Rex always comes back, he wouldn't abandon us," Woog reasoned. "He's right you know.." Elsa added. However before any of them could speak Rex decided to make his presence known, "yeah you should know I'd never leave you guys.." he said with a playful smirk on his lips. "Rex..." Elsa and Dweeb said together. "Where were you?" Elsa asked curiously. "Yeah we were getting worried about you," Dweeb added. Rex merely smiled, "I was just out on my walk this morning and..." he turned slightly to show the young woman sitting on his back, "talking with my new friend Lily." Upon seeing her the other three dinosaurs looked at her curiously, "it's a pleasure to meet y'all, Rex has been tellin' me all about you." A moment passed before anyone spoke, "it's lovely to meet you Miss Lily, I'm Elsa." "Nice to meet you Elsa," Lily replied. "I'm Dweeb...hi..." he greeted. "A pleasure," Lily answered. "And I'm Woog..." the tric answered. "It's nice to meet all of you," Lily said before turning her eyes to Rex and giving him a smile. He understood her silent message and he lay down before offering his claw to her in order to help her down to the floor. "So this is why you slipped off so early this morning," Woog teased. Rex couldn't hide the light blush on his face and Lily took notice, "so how have you all been settling in?" she asked, changing the subject. "We've been settling in well I think, especially since coming to stay here at the museum," Elsa answered. "I'm glad, you know I heard about how you all were in the parade some months ago," Lily replied. "Yeah that parade was fun," Rex said grabbing some of the food that Dr. Bleeb had brought out. "Yes it was, I'd very much like to do that again I think," Elsa added. "Wonder if Louie and Cecilia will be a part of it if we were?" Woog said. Lily thought for a moment as she recalled what the tyrannosaurus had told her about the two kids they had befriended, "from what Rex has told me I imagine they would." "Wow you really did tell her about us Rex," Dweeb said. Rex merely offered a smile, "well I wanted to be honest with her no since in keeping things from my friends." Elsa nodded approvingly, "you are a very good friend Rex, your mother taught you well it seems," she praised. Rex's smile faded only slightly but kept it out of his voice, "yes she did," he said plopping the rest of his food into his mouth. "Rex also told me that y'all are suppose to have some visitors today," Lily said. "Yeah but we don't know who they are," Dweeb answered with Woog shaking his head. "Perhaps it's a surprise for us," Elsa reasoned. "I guess we'll find out soon enough," Rex added as he lay down so Lily could lean against his shoulder. The three took notice to how Rex seemed so content having Lily leaning against him in this manner. Glances were exchanged subtly but neither of them said anything.
A little later that morning the dinosaurs made their way into the exhibit hall to take up their usual places in the layout Dr. Bleeb had set up for them. The Dr. was more than pleased to have Lily in there as well and while they waited for the visitors, she and the young lady talked for a bit. The good Dr. fix them some tea to sip on while they talked, "so tell me..." Lily made her green eyes meet Bleeb's brown ones, "how did you meet our Rex?" she asked. "I met him in the park yesterday, I'm a painter, I bring my paints and easel with me to the park and paint what I see," Lily explained taking a sip of her tea. "So I take it you painted a portrait of Rex?" Bleeb said. "Yes ma'am, I have it back at my apartment. I'm trying to decide what I'd like to do with it," Lily stated. "Well you know dear, I could always use another talented artist at my museum. Perhaps if you'd like, you can display your artwork here at my museum. If you're looking to sell some of your paintings, I'm certain there are people who come here that would be delighted to buy them from you," Bleeb offered. "You really think so?" Lily asked. "Of course dear, well you give it some thought and let me know what you decide," Bleeb said. "Thank you ma'am," Lily replied as silence settled between the women.
Back in the exhibit hall Rex was talking with the others, "I wonder what Dr. Bleeb wanted to talk to Lily about?" "I'm sure it's nothing really. She probably just wants to get to know her is all," Elsa said in an attempt to soothe the rex. "Yeah she did the same thing with Louie and Cecilia when she met them," Dweeb added. "Yeah so try and relax, she's not gonna make your girlfriend leave," Woog teased. Upon hearing the tric's words Rex's cheek flamed slightly, "she's not my girlfriend..." he said looking away. A laugh was shared between Dweeb and Woog but Elsa could see the emotion in Rex's eyes, "oh Rex you know they're only teasing," she soothed, "no need to take it the wrong way," she added placing a gentle claw on his cheek. "Thanks Elsa," Rex replied with a soft smile on his lips. A moment or two passed before the two women entered the room and Rex moved towards Lily, "did you enjoy getting to know Dr. Bleeb Lily?" he asked lowering himself down to her level. "Yes I did, she's a very nice woman and I told her of the painting I did of you yesterday," Lily said. "Really?" Rex asked. "Of course and she even offered to let me display some of my paintings so that I could find people who'd want to buy them," she added. Rex's smile was evident, "that's great Lily...I'm happy for you.." he purred as he nuzzled his nose playfully into her hair, making her laugh. She raised a gentle hand and stroked the side of his face affectionately, "thanks Rex." Again the three other dinosaurs exchanged looks between them but said nothing as Bleeb spoke, "alright you all take up your positions, our visitors will be here any minute." "Who are they Dr. Bleeb?" Dweeb asked. She merely offered a smile, "it's a surprise.." she said with a wink. With that she walked from the room, leaving the dinosaurs and Lily to took up her perch in the tree while Woog and Dweeb stood beneath it, leaving the last spot for Rex to stand. However he was still with Lily, "I'm glad you're here Lily.." he whispered. She offered him a sweet smile, "I am too Rex..." a soft laugh passed through her lips before giving a subtle peck on the nose. The rex's eyes widened slightly before softening again, he was about to say something when Dweeb spoke, "come on Rex get in your spot before our visitors get here." Rex glanced back at his friends briefly before looking back at Lily, "go on big guy, we can spend some time together later." Hearing this made him smile, "alright Lily.." he offered her one more nuzzle before standing at his full height and making his way over to his spot next to his friends. She smiled at him before turning on her heel and walking from the room to stand with Dr. Bleeb to wait for the visitors to arrive at the museum.
A short time later the surprise visitors arrived at the museum, "I'm glad you were able to come.." Bleeb told them. "Well when we heard about there being dinosaurs here, we had to come check it out for ourselves," Grant stated. "Yes after dealing with the bones of dinosaurs all the time, it'll be interesting to see some live ones," Sadler added. "I thought your experience with Hammond was enough for you two," Louie joked. The pair of archeologists laughed, "yes well...that was on a completely different scale. Some of those dinosaurs tried to eat us," Grant replied. "Well you don't need to worry about these dinosaurs trying to eat ya, they're friendly," Louie said. "Yes they are so much fun too, just wait until you meet them," Cecilia added as they walked back to where the dinosaurs were.
When the group got back to the room where the dinosaurs stood motionless, both Alan and Ellie let their eyes roam the four dinosaurs curiously. Lily, Louie and Cecilia were silently curious what the two archeologists would think once the dinosaurs broke their stance and began to speak with them. "Look at the tric, he's much larger than the ones we saw at the park," Alan commented. "Yes but those were female, this one is male," Ellie reasoned. They then noticed Elsa sitting perched up in the tree, "and the pterodactyl...she's got lovely coloring," Ellie commented. "Yes, I don't think we've ever seen one that look like that before," Alan added but before he could say something about the parasaurolophus, he noticed Rex standing in the corner. "You have a t-rex?" he asked looking back at Bleeb. She merely nodded her head, "yes we do...we are fortunate to have him here with us." Alan turned his eyes back to the rex warily but just as he was about to say something Bleeb spoke, "you may reveal yourselves..." she said. Upon hearing this both Grant and Sadler turned back to the dinosaurs and upon doing so watched them move from their poses and look at them. The archeologists' mouths hung open, "hello..." Elsa was the first to speak, "it's nice to meet you both." Though in shock Ellie was the first to respond, "it's a pleasure I'm sure..." she said taking a few steps towards them. It was then that Woog and Dweeb took a couple of steps towards them, "you must be the visitors Dr. Bleeb told us about. I'm Dweeb and this is Woog.." he said making the introductions. "I'm Ellie and this Alan..." Sadler replied. Then all eyes turned to the tyrannosaurus, "and I'm Rex...it's nice to meet you." A moment passed where no one said anything, that is until Louie spoke, "see like I told ya, you don't need to worry about these guys trying to take a bite outta ya." The young boy made his way over to the Rex with Cecilia at his side, "how ya been Rex?" he asked. The tyrannosaur came to sit in front of the boy as he spoke, "I've been good Louie, I hope you and Cecilia have been doing good as well," he said with a knowing smile. Louie rubbed the back of his neck bashfully before looking at the young girl at his side, "yes we've been doing good as well," Cecilia replied. Rex then turned his eyes to Lily, "I see you've also met our new friend Lily," he said. "Yes we have and she is a delight," Cecilia turned to the young woman, "you will have to show us some of your paintings some time." Lily smiled, "I'd be happy to," she replied.
After the introductions were made everyone settled in to talk and get to know one another. As they got to talking Rex and his friends learned about the encounters Ellie and Alan had had at the dinosaur park they had gone to. The tyrannosaur was sympathetic to why the pair were so wary when they first saw him. In turn Grant and Sadler learned about the dinosaurs as well and after a little while seemed very much relaxed around them. The pair stayed on into the evening before departing from the museum, "be sure to come back and see us whenever you're in the neighborhood," Bleeb had told them. "We will and you all take care of yourselves," Grant replied before turning his eyes to Rex, "I know you will protect them." Rex nodded his head, "yes sir I will.." he replied giving Grant a smile. With that the pair of archeologists left the museum behind them and the dinosaurs along with it.
Both Louie and Cecilia stayed to have dinner with their dinosaur friends and of course Lily stayed too. However she remained at Rex's side most of the time, to which both Louie and Cecilia noticed. Cecilia had explained it to Louie a little bit but the boy wanted to talk to his best friend about it anyway. So a little later Louie pulled Rex aside for a minute to talk, "so Rex tell me...I know she told us how you two met but I'm curious as to what you think about her?" Rex was silent for a moment before responding, "well I like her...she's nice and real easy to talk to." "Do you like her?" Louie asked. Rex gave the boy a curious look, "I did say I like her.." he said. "No no...I mean do you really like her? Like how me and Cecilia like each other?" he questioned. The rex was silent for a moment as he contemplated his answer, "I don't really know yet..." Louie gave him a curious look, "I mean I barely know her yet so I can't really give you an answer to that yet." "Hey don't sweat it, I'm sure you'll figure it out on your own time. But just goin' by what I've seen since I been here, I'd say you do really like her," Louie said. Rex smiled as he glanced in Lily's direction briefly before turning back to the boy as he continued, "and don't worry...I'll keep your secret," he said with a wink. Hearing this seem settle Rex a little, "thanks Louie." "Come on let's get back in there," Louie said walking away. "Right behind you," Rex said as he followed after the boy.
The rest of the evening was spent with the group talking and enjoying each other's company. It was only when it began getting dark that everyone settled in for the night. Both Louie and Cecilia had permission from their parents to spend the night at the museum that night so they settled in next to the dinosaurs. Lily had also decided to stay the night, much to the delight of the tyrannosaur as he had fixed up a spot for her and the two kids. There were a few stories told around the lava lamp heater before they slipped off to sleep for the night. The only ones awake were Rex and Lily, he was curled around her and she was tucked in close to his side. She enjoyed the warmth of his scales against her body and she felt very much content with him. "Did you have fun today?" Rex whispered. "Yes I did, I love your friends Rex...they are so much fun to be around," she answered. Rex smiled, "yeah I'm very lucky to have friends like them..." he glanced around the room briefly before looking back at her, "and you." A soft gasp escaped her lips but she offered him a warm smile, "you know something..." she traced the scales on his arm with a delicate finger as she continued, "I think I'm the lucky one." "In what way?" he asked curiously, lowering his head. "Because before meeting you I had thought about going back home and leaving this city behind me. I felt like I didn't really belong here..." Rex was silent as he understood that feeling, "but after meeting you..." she turned her emerald gaze to his dark one, "I feel like I've found a home here, a place where I belong." The light blush that appeared on Rex's cheeks made Lily giggle softly but she too wore a light blush on her face. A moment passed where the two looked into each other's eyes, neither making a sound or moving. The light from the lava lamp heater reflected in her gem-like eyes, making them glow and entrancing the rex, "wow..." he murumured. Lily tilted her head slightly, "what is it Rex?" "Your eyes...they seem to be glowing in the light from the heater," he replied, "it makes them look..." he stopped himself when he realized what he was about to say. Lily was silent as she could see the nervousness in the dinosaur's eyes, "go on Rex..." she encouraged. He swallowed down the lump in his throat as he spoke, "your eyes...they're beautiful..." he whispered. Lily smiled before resting her cheek against Rex's muzzle, "thank you..." she purred, nuzzling him affectionately. He found himself smiling warmly at her before gently flicking his tongue against her cheek. She giggled then met his gentle gaze, raising her hand and caressing his face lovingly, "we should try and get some sleep," she whispered. "Yes I think we should," Rex said as a yawn passed through his lips. Lily stretched herself briefly before laying down on the sleepingbag Bleeb had offered her, "goodnight Rex," she whispered. "Goodnight Li..." his words were cut off when he felt Lily press a gentle kiss on his nose. He remained still for an instant, seemingly frozen in place at feeling the sweet gesture. When he recovered from the surprise he made his dark eyes meet her shimmering green ones, "sweet dreams," she whispered. "Sweet dreams to you too," he purred. She smiled at him, settling down into the warmth of his body and slipping off to sleep at his side. Rex remained awake for a few moments as he processed what had just happened, "she kissed me..." he kept his eyes on her, "I never expected for her to show me any affection like that. I would think despite getting to know me that anyone would be so sweet towards me." This was all new to the tyrannosaur, he'd never had anyone show him any of that kind of interest, not even in his own time. So for him to receive it now was a little shocking to him but he found himself feeling a bit more protective over the young woman now. He lowered his head until he felt her soft hair against his muzzle, "I don't know where this will lead us Lily but thank you..." he whispered as he pressed a kiss into her hair. When he pulled back he saw her smile in her sleep which in turn made him smile as a yawn passed through his lips. He lay his head down, tucking it in close to her body and curling his tail around her as well as he drifted off to sleep.
When the sun began to rise it found the tyrannosaur already awake and watching over the group sleeping around him. Rex felt very much content at the moment, he had friends who loved him and stayed by his side no matter what. He in turn protected them with everything in his power because deep down, he never wanted to feel the loneliness he once lived with. He did not wish to return to that life and silently vowed that he never would.
Later that morning everyone was sitting around the lava lamp heater and talking, "so what's the day look like today?" Louie asked leaning back on his hands. "I think it's a pretty easy day from what Julia said yesterday," Elsa answered. "So does that mean we get another free day?" Dweeb asked. "I don't know..." Rex replied in almost a whisper. Woog looked at the tyrannosaur curiously, "what will you do if we do have another free day Rex?" he asked. Before answering the triceratops' question Lily spoke up, "why don't we all go to the park? It's a nice day and we can bring a picnic too.." she suggested. "Oh a picnic, I can bring the hotdogs," Dweeb said. "And I can bring the stuff to put on'em," Woog added. Louie laughed at the dinosaurs, "is there ever a time where you guys ain't chowin' down on something?" he joked. "Yeah when we're sleeping maybe," Dweeb laughed. Rex and Woog both chuckled along with Cecilia and Lily, "you guys are so much fun to be around..." the blonde commented. Her words didn't go unnoticed by the rex sitting next to her, "it's never dull around here." "That's for sure," Louie added. After wrapping up their conversation the group got ready to go to the park together, Louie, Cecilia and Dweeb put together a basket for the group's lunch. Rex and Lily grabbed a blanket for her, Louie and Cecilia to sit on, as the dinosaurs would be more comfortable sitting on the soft grass. To their surprise who should show up at the museum about the time they were going to leave, but Captain Neweyes and Vorb, "hello Captain Neweyes," Cecilia greeted when she saw the gray-haired man. "Hello Cecilia how are you and Louie doing? Are you two taking care of our dinosaur friends?" he asked kindly. She offered a friendly smile, "yes sir we are and both Louie and I are doing well." "Where are you off to this fine day?" the Captain asked curiously. "We're on the way to the park to enjoy the day," Rex answered. "And we're bringing a picnic," Dweeb added. "Would you like to join us Captain?" Lily asked. The older man smiled kindly at the young woman, "I'd be happy to..." he then turned to the little martian at his side, "what do say Vorb?" "Sounds like a swell idea Skipper," the martian answered. "Wonderful, let's get going.." Elsa replied.
With that the group made their way outside the museum as they were ready to walk towards the park Lily spoke up, "Rex..." gaining the rex's attention, "yes Lily?" "Do you think we could stop by my apartment?" she asked. He thought on her words for a moment before speaking, "you want to get your painting supplies?" he asked to which she nodded her head. He gave her a warm smile, "alright..." then turned to his friends, "you guys go on ahead we'll catch up." "What's up Rex?" Louie asked. "I'd like to grab my art supplies, I'd like to create a painting with all of you in it," Lily answered. "Do you need us to come with you?" Cecilia asked. "That's alright Cecilia...it'll only take a moment and then we'll be right behind you," Rex answered. "Alright..." the young girl said. "Hey where should we set up?" Woog asked. Rex was the one to answer, "there's a great spot that I go to often. There's a large willow tree growing next to the lake, it's the perfect spot. We can set up there..." he said. "Alright we'll see you there," Captain Neweyes said, "come on everyone." With that the group made their way towards the park while Rex and Lily headed towards her apartment to retrieve her art supplies.
It took no time at all for the tyrannosaur to reach Lily's apartment building and upon doing so he lay down and helped her down from his back. "I'll be right back..." she said as she made her way inside leaving Rex to wait for her. While he did he returned to his previous thoughts from the night before, "she's just the sweetest woman I've ever met since I've been here. I can't help but wonder how she feels about me?" He became distracted from his thoughts upon hearing Lily return, "that was quick," he stated. "Well I did say I'd be right back," she replied playfully. A soft chuckle passed through his lips, "would you like for me to hold to anything for you?" he asked. She smiled at him, "if you don't mind...my easel." "I'd be happy to," he replied. "Thank you Rex," she said passing the easel to him as he stood up. "You good up there?" he asked. She nodded her head, "I'm good Rex..." she nuzzled her cheek against his neck as he began to make his way towards the park with her atop his back.
He soon reached the park and the spot he had told his friends about and upon reaching it, found them relaxing in the warm sun. "Looks like they like this spot as much as you do Rex," Lily commented. "Yes it does..." he replied making his way over to the willow tree and setting Lily's easel down then helping her down from his back. She nodded a silent thanks to the Rex as he lay next to her, remaining partially in the sunshine as he enjoyed the warmth on his scales. Louie and Cecilia had the blanket laid out beside Rex and were sitting on it with Captain Neweyes and Vorb sitting on a root of the willow next to them. Louie was teaching Cecilia a few card games with Neweyes and Vorb. Elsa, and Dweeb were relaxing in the warm sun just as Rex was while Woog was laying in the edge of lake with the water lapping at his side.
The day was peaceful for everyone, getting to truly enjoy themselves without a care in the world and spending it with their friends. In all honesty the group had become a family to one another as they had no other one. When they began to dig into the picnic basket there was a conversation that began between the group, "so Lily how did that painting turn out?" Vorb asked curiously. "It turned out really good and once it's dry I'll show it to y'all," Lily answered. "I look forward to seeing it," Elsa said. "Me too," Cecilia added with Louie nodding his head. Lily let a soft laugh pass through her lips, "I promise I'll show y'all my painting before we go back to the museum, I'm sure it'll be dry by then." Silence passed among them for a brief moment before Rex decided to say something he had been wanting to say for a long time, "you know something..." all eyes turned to him as he continued, "we may have all started out as strangers but look at us now, we're friends but more than that we're a family." "Aww Rex," Cecilia said. He glanced bashfully away for an instant before looking back at his friends, "well it's true...I look at all of you and I see my family." "You know something Rex, I agree with you...we are a family," Louie said with Neweyes and Vorb nodding their heads in agreement. "That's a beautiful notion Rex, we are a family..." Elsa added. "I love it," Dweeb said with Woog nodding his head to the parasaurolophus' words. Lily lovingly stroked Rex's arm as she spoke, "I think the bond you all have is something really special and we are lucky to know each other." "Here here..." Vorb said. The rest of the day was spent in comfortable silence enjoying the peacefulness around them.
After finishing off the picnic Rex decided to talk to Lily about something he'd had on his mind, "hey Lily..." she made her bright green eyes meet his dark ones, "can we talk?" She offered him a smile, "of course..." she replied as they stepped to edge of the lake away from the others. "Is something on your mind big guy?" she asked sweetly. He rubbed the back of his neck nervously at first which caught the attention of the young woman, "what is it Rex?" she asked placing a gentle hand on his clawed-hand. He looked into her eyes as he swallowed down the lump in his throat, "there's something I want to ask you but I'm kinda nervous to.." he admitted as he lay down in front of her. Lily caressed his claw soothingly, "it's ok Rex...whatever it is that you want to ask me, you don't need to feel nervous." Rex took a deep breath and let it out slowly as he spoke, "um...Lily..." he took her hand gently into his claw as he continued, "how do you...feel about me?" he asked. Lily's eyes widened slightly, "Rex..." she murmured. "I know we haven't known each other for very long but I just...I don't know..." she was silent for a moment to allow the tyrannosaur to get his thoughts straight. A moment passed before he began to speak again, "since we met I've just felt...like there's something there. I mean the things you and I talked about the first day, I've never told anyone before. Not even my friends. I guess I...identified with you because of the things you told me too. You know, coming from the countryside to the city and me well, I came from a prehistoric jungle to the modern day. We both are far from what we knew growing up." "Yes we did but you know..." she then sat at his side and placed her free hand on his claw and made her green eyes look into his dark gaze, "I wouldn't change anything because if I did, then I wouldn't have met you.." she said with a smile. He smiled in return as he spoke his next words, "I wouldn't change anything either Lily because...I would've missed out on meeting a beautiful woman like you.." his cheeks flamed as he said this. A soft gasp escaped Lily's lips and her eyes softened, "Rex..." she purred as she stood up and stepped closer to him, placing her forehead against his muzzle and nuzzling him tenderly. Though surprised by her action his face softened and he purred softly to her as he nuzzled his nose into her hair affectionately.
The interaction between Rex and Lily seemed to go unnoticed by the rest of their family until Cecilia gently elbowed Louie, gaining his attention, "Louie..." when he looked at her, she motioned towards Rex and Lily. Louie couldn't keep the smirk off his face, "hey guys look..." he whispered. All eyes turned in the direction of the rex and young woman. "Wow..." Dweeb murmured. "Would you look at that," Woog added. "How lovely..." Elsa commented. Captain Neweyes smiled at the scene before him, "it's good to see a special bond between the two of them..." he replied as Vorb nodded his head.
The pair were completely unaware that their family had seen their affections, they only seem to focus on one another as they gazed out over the lake before them. After a moment or two of silence between them Lily spoke, "do you want to see the painting I did?" she asked. "I'd love to..." she giggled at his enthusiasm then turned to their family, "y'all ready to see the painting?" she asked. "You bet.." Louie answered. "Yeah..." Dweeb chimed in with Woog nodding his head. "Alright..." Lily said picking up her easel and turning it so the rest could see it, "here we go..." she said as she revealed her work. Both Louie and Woog's mouth hung open slightly, "wow..." Dweeb said. "You're so talented Lily," Cecilia added with Elsa nodding her head in agreement. "You do great work young lady," Neweyes replied. "Thank you..." Lily said with a smile, "now I just need to decide what to do with it.." she said. "You should hang it in the museum, that way other people can see it too," Dweeb suggested. "It's exquisite," Elsa said, "you should definitely frame it." "I do intend to frame it Miss Elsa," Lily replied kindly. "You did an amazing job Lily but I'd expect nothing less," Rex purred. She blushed at his words, "thanks Rex." "You should show it Julia, I'm sure she'd know the perfect place to hang it," Neweyes suggested. "I think I will..." Lily replied. Upon making sure it was completely dry she placed a cover over it to prevent it from getting ruined before sitting back at Rex's side with him curled around her.
It was around sunset when the group began to make their way back to the museum together, "today has been wonderful," Elsa commented. "Yes it has..." Cecilia agreed. Louie placed his arm around the young girl's shoulders, pulling her in closer to him before subtly planting a kiss to her temple. Cecilia's cheeks became painted with a light blush that went unnoticed by their friends. Captain Neweyes accompanied the group back to the museum before he and Vorb departed for the ship, "this has been a nice day with you all. It's been a long time since we've just relaxed and enjoyed the day." "Where will you go now Captain?" Rex asked. "Oh you don't need to worry yourself too much Rex, I'll always be close by whenever you need me," Neweyes replied with a wink. "Take care of yourselves," Cecilia said glancing at the Captain and Vorb. "You all do the same," Vorb answered. "See ya around Captain," Louie added. "Tell Julia hello for me," Neweyes said. "We will," Elsa replied. "Oh and Rex..." Neweyes turned to meet the rex's gaze. "Yes Captain," he answered. "If you ever need anything you know how to find me." "Thank you," was that tyrannosaur's only response. With that Captain Neweyes and Vorb left for the ship with the group watching them disappear from sight. Silence hung in the air until Rex spoke, "are you staying the night again Lily?" he asked. She thought it over for a moment or two before answering him, "I think I will besides I'd like to show Dr. Bleeb my painting." Rex smiled at her words as Louie spoke, "I'm gonna walk Cecilia home and then head home myself." "Will we see you tomorrow?" Dweeb asked. "Of course you will," Louie replied. "Goodnight Louie, Cecilia..." Rex said. "Goodnight Rex," Cecilia replied. They watched them walked away for a moment or two before Lily and the dinosaurs walked into the museum for the night.
Upon entering they were greeted by Dr. Bleeb, "there you all are..." she said. "I hope we didn't worry you," Elsa replied. "Oh no dear, I saw Captain Neweyes earlier this morning. Plus I saw you all leave and knew you were headed for the park," the gray-haired woman stated. "It was the perfect day," Lily replied. Julia smiled at the young woman and noticed the way she looked at Rex, "well I'm glad you all enjoy yourselves today, try and get some rest and I will see you in the morning.." she said before walking away.
The dinosaurs headed into the room where they slept to bed down for the night. Both Woog and Dweeb easily slipped off to sleep while Elsa, Rex and Lily remained awake for a bit longer. Elsa glanced at the two sleeping males before turning her eyes to the couple in front of her, "I know they won't say so but..." Rex and Lily looked at the female curiously, "we are happy for you two." "Huh?" was Rex's only response. "We know that you two have found affection with one another," Elsa said. Both Rex and Lily's cheeks were covered in a light blush as Elsa spoke, "there's no need to be embarrassed, I think it's wonderful that you two have found such happiness." Rex smiled at her words, "thank you Elsa." "It means a lot to us," Lily added. Elsa merely nodded before settled down into her bedding, "goodnight you two, sweet dreams." "Night Elsa," Rex said. "Night..." Lily added. A yawn escaped Elsa's beak before she slipped off to sleep in her make-shift nest, leaving the couple the only ones awake.
Now alone with one another Lily placed her painting supplies off to the side before coming back over to snuggle against Rex's warm side. The light from the lava lamp heater reflected in Lily's green eyes, making them glow and entrancing the rex further, "I love the way your eyes glow in the low light.." he purred. A soft smile played on her lips as she batted her eyelashes at him. She moved to place a hand on his claw as she spoke, "I think the low light enhances your looks...makes you look even more handsome." Rex glanced away from the young woman briefly before meeting her gaze once more,"and you look even more beautiful..." he murmured. Lily raised her hand to gently caress his cheek, glancing between his eyes and his lips for an instant. The action didn't go unnoticed by the tyrannosaur, "hmm...what could you being thinking?" he purred giving her a half-lidded look. She smiled at him as she turned her eyes back to his lips, licking hers nervously, "Rex..." she murmured. "Yes.." he said caressing her cheek gently, being mindful of his claws. "can I ask you something?" "Of course..." Rex replied. "It's a personal question," Lily added. "I will answer whatever you ask," Rex answered. Lily thought out her words before she spoke, "I was just wondering...when you were still in your time..did you ever have a mate?" The surprise on the rex's face was evident but he knew he had to answer her, "no..I never did, no female would ever pay me much mind. I was always alone..." he admitted. Lily caressed his cheek soothingly, "I'm sorry Rex.." she replied. "Why?" he asked arching a scaly brow. "Because you had to live life alone back then. No one should ever have to do that..." Lily paused for an instant before continuing, "but I can promise you one thing," Rex looked at her with curious eyes, "you will never be alone again because I'm always going to be right by your side." A soft gasp escaped Rex's lips, "Lily..." he purred but before he could stop himself, he lowered his head and pressed his lips to Lily's. The young woman's heart was racing in her chest but she responded to the kiss by returning it, placing a gentle hand on the side of his face. He in turn placed his claw on the back of her neck in order to deepen it slightly, "is this really happening? Am I really kissing her?" was the only thing in his mind as he continued to kiss her. When they broke off the kiss both wore a light blush on their faces as their hearts raced in their chests. A moment passed before either of them made a move or spoke, "sorry..." Rex whispered. Lily gave him a curious look, "why?" she asked. "I should've asked you first," Rex replied. Lily could only smile at the shy tyrannosaur, "oh honey you don't need to ask permission with me..." Rex's eyes widened slightly as Lily continued, "I am your girl now Rex...you can give me as much affection as want to.." she said with a smile. He could only smile at the young woman in his arms, "Lily..." he purred burying his nose into her hair and pressing a kiss there. "Rex..." she purred as a content sigh passed through her lips.
They sat there for several moments more before they decided to settle in to sleep, "we should try to get some sleep," Lily said as a yawn passed through her lips. "Yes I think so too..." Rex agreed as he pressed another kiss to her lips, "goodnight Lily," he murmured, nuzzling his muzzle against her forehead affectionately. When they pulled back from the nuzzle both wore a soft smile, "goodnight Rex.." she whispered as she snuggled against his warm side and allowed sleep to come to her. Rex remained awake for a bit longer as he curled himself around Lily, completely encircling her to ensure she stayed warm. He gave one last loving nuzzle before laying his head down next to her and allowing sleep to come to him. The flame that had sparked between Rex and Lily was beginning to burn brighter and though they didn't know where this path would lead them, they knew they'd walk it together.
Over the next couple of weeks Lily came to settle at the museum with the dinosaurs, helping out where she was needed and also displaying her art as well. Julia was more than pleased to have the young woman there to help and always encouraged her to follow her heart. She even hung a few of Lily's paintings in places people frequented in the museum and even managed to help her sell a few of them as well. However there were a couple of paintings that would never be sold, one being of the whole family in the park together and the other one was of Rex relaxing by the lake the day she met him. Both were hung in the room where the dinosaurs slept so they could always enjoy them. The only times Lily left the museum was to grab a shower and change of clothes but she always returned to the museum and her Rex. What was so often the case every evening was the same for the pair, once the normal work day was done, Rex and Lily would slip away to be alone with one another. The tyrannosaur would hold Lily so tenderly in his arms and nuzzle his nose into her hair, enhaling her sweet scent which he always relished in. Lily enjoyed the feeling of the rex's scales against her body as well as his warmth, she always felt so safe with him, she knew he would protect her no matter what.
Each day was business as usual for the dinosaurs, remaining in the display while people came to see them. From kids to adults of all ages, each day was an experience for everyone envolved. Julia had given Lily the responsiblity of the art wing of the museum where many of her paintings were located. Lily was delighted to given the position and she found much inspiration while she was in the wing, creating paintings and displaying them once they were dry and framed. Dr. Bleeb led many a group through the museum showing them the different wings and giving them details of many things in each wing. Even Louie and Cecilia helped out when they had groups just to have an extra set of hands in case it was ever needed. They always ended with the wing where the dinosaurs were to give everyone a smile and a pleasant experience as well. At the end of each day the dinosaurs, the two kids and Lily would sit together to have dinner together and talk about their day before settling in for the night. Lily always cuddled against Rex's side with him curled protectively around her, many times Louie and Cecilia snuggled against him too and he was all too happy to be curled around them too.
A Few Weeks Later:
It was a peaceful morning on this Sunday and it would remain as such as Julia wanted to do a thorough cleaning of each wing with the help of Louie, Cecilia, Lily and the dinosaurs. Each took a room and took great care to ensure that they were cleaned properly, even Captain Neweyes and Vorb stopped by to help. The elder man felt he owed it to Dr. Bleeb because she had taken on the care of the dinosaurs he had brought to her and she was grateful to the man for his and Vorb's help.
By midday the group had the entire museum cleaned from top to bottom and they all felt a sense of pride at having done their part to complete the task. They were all resting in the room with the lava lamp heater, sitting together enjoying lunch together. A comfortable silence hung in the room around them with only Bleeb and Neweyes talking about different things, reminiscing of times long gone. The dinosaurs meanwhile talked amongst themselves, "you know..." the eyes turned to the parasaurolophus, "it's feels like a lifetime ago that we were in the prehistoric jungle." "Yeah it really does...I think about it too," Woog admitted. Elsa nodded her head, "I do wonder sometimes how the ones I knew then are doing? Or if their bones reside here," she said motioning in the direction of the bone room. After hearing the pterodactyl's words Rex glanced in that direction, "I hadn't thought about that..." he murmured more so to himself than to any of his friends. Lily had, of course heard the rex's words and placed a gentle hand on his arm, gaining his attention. Upon meeting her gaze he saw her comforting smile and merely offered one in return. Louie and Cecilia had noticed the tyrannosaur's shift in demeanor, they knew the thought had effected him and both silently wondered if perhaps they should talk to him about it. However they also figured that Lily would most likely talk to him but they still wanted to offer Rex some comfort as well.
Some time later the group was relaxing in their room but one was not among them, Rex had slipped away for a moment in order to look into the bone wing of the museum. He had yet to come into this room as Louie had told him it probably wouldn't be a good idea to go in there. However Rex felt as though something was pulling him towards the room and so he decided to go have a look anyway. Upon entering he froze up for an instant he as took in the room itself, there were displays set up similar to the one he and his friends would stand on. In one display case he saw a few pieces of bone, teeth and claws but as he continued to scan the room he noticed other displays set up that held what appeared to be fully assembled bones of dinosaurs. His mouth hung open slightly and he felt as though he had been hit in the chest, as he found that he couldn't take in a full breath all of a sudden. He took a moment to compose himself before continuing onward, looking at each display curiously only to see other dinosaur skeletons in the displays, "so this is all that's left of our kind?" he whispered. Rex felt his heart begin to ache slightly at the sights around him but it was nothing compared to the final display that was situated at the top of the room. When he turned his eyes in the direction, he became transfixed on the display as he slowly made his way over to it.
About this time Lily had slipped away from the others to go looking for Rex when she noticed him gone. When she found him, her face fell as she watched him examine the room where skeletons of long dead dinosaurs were on display. She could see the emotion on his face, "oh Rex..." she whispered as she watched him from the doorway.
Unaware that Lily was watching him, Rex took a few more steps towards the last display before resting his eyes on the placard, "tyrannosaurus rex..." As he read off the placard, his eyes became filled with tears as he slumped to the floor next to the display. Silent sobs followed soon after, "so...this is all that's left of us...?" He felt his heart ache so much so that he thought it would break, "this has to be some kind of nightmare..." he whispered as he wiped his tears away.
When Lily saw this she couldn't remain in the doorway any longer and quietly made her way over to the disheartened tyrannosaur, "Rex..." she whispered. Rex turned his teary eyes to look upon the young woman standing behind him, "Lily.." he replied in barely a whisper. She came over to him and nuzzled her way beneath his chin while he closed his eyes and buried his nose into her hair, inhaling her sweet scent. She raised a gentle hand and placed it onto his cheek, caressing it tenderly in hopes of soothing the unset reptile. Silence passed between them while Lily offered comfort to Rex before speaking soothing words to him, "I'm sorry Rex..." she pressed a kiss to his chest. "Is this really what happen to us? Are they really all gone?" he asked. Lily was fighting back her own tears at hearing Rex so upset, "I'm afraid so and I truly wish I could tell you otherwise Rex..." she pulled back to meet his gaze, "I hate to see you so upset." Rex turned his eyes to look back at the bones of the t-rex next to him, "I don't understand how that could happen to us..." he sobbed. Lily knew she had to say something to him that might bring him some comfort but she wasn't sure what, "I want to comfort you but I don't know what to say that will." Rex was silent for a moment before speaking again, "does this time tell what happen to us?" he asked. She closed her eyes for a brief moment before speaking, "well yes...there is." "What is it?" he questioned. Lily took a shaky breath, "are you sure you wish to know?" she asked. Rex could see the emotion in her eyes and though he was scared of what she might tell him, deep down, he needed to know, for his own piece of mind, "yes...I have to know." With a heavy sigh Lily began to explain what had said about the day that all the dinosaurs died out. There were a couple times she had to spot because Rex became too upset to hear anymore. Once he calmed however she continued until she reached the end of her tale and allow the tyrannosaur to absorb everything she had told him. Lily remained at his side, quietly stroking his arm and neck in hopes to soothe him, "the poor thing...he and the others have been through so much already. Now to add this onto whatever he was already feeling must be overwhelming for him." She nuzzled him tenderly as she continued to stroke his arm and offering him the warmth of her body as well. Rex's mind was too focused on everything he had heard and wasn't really sure what to say now, "how could this have happened? Why did it have to happen to our kind? Everyone any of us ever knew are gone...and their bones are in this room." Rex's heart was on the verge of breaking knowing that he and his friends were the last of their kind and there was nothing that could be done to bring them back. Rex now began to question why they had been chosen out of all the dinosaurs there had been in their time. Why were they the few lucky ones that were allowed to escape the catastrophe that befell the other dinosaurs? For the longest time he made not a sound nor said a single word as he was too upset to really when he felt Lily place a few little pecks on his cheek he glanced at her with sorrow-filled eyes. He could also see how she was holding back tears that threatened to fall and knew that sharing this with him was something she hadn't wanted to do. He looked down at the floor before resting his head there, curling himself into a tight ball with Lily cuddled at his side. After several moments with Rex simply laying there Lily spoke, "come on..." he glanced at her from the corner of his eye, "we should head back to the others before they come looking for us.." she suggested. A heavy sigh passed through Rex's nostrils as he slowly raised his head up off the floor, "alright.." he replied in barely a whisper. Lily stood up first with Rex following suit, he stole one last glance at the bones of the tyrannosaur before sadly walking back to the room where the rest of their family was.
When they entered the group couldn't help but notice how sad Rex looked as he quietly walked past them before laying on his bedding without a word curling into himself. When Lily was standing next to the group Louie quietly asked her, "what's wrong with Rex?" Lily closed her eyes briefly before offering a response, "I found Rex in the bone room..." was the only thing she said as she made her way over to him in order to cuddle against his side in hopes of comforting him. The other dinosaurs were slightly confused by what they had heard the young woman say and turned to Neweyes in hopes he would clarify. "Poor Rex...I feel for him, I truly do but...the truth is never easy to take." "What do you mean Captain?" Dweeb asked. Louie was the one to answer, "Rex saw the bones of the other dinosaurs in the bone room and he must've seen the t-rex they have in there." Elsa's face reflected the same thing the other two's did, "oh dear...poor Rex.." she whispered as her blue eyes filled with tears. Both Dweeb and Woog seem to understand but remained silent for several moments after. Cecilia knew the hurt the dinosaurs must be feeling and she wanted to help cheer them up, "is there anything we can do to help the hurt go away?" she asked as Louie pulled her in close. Neweyes shook his head as Julia spoke, "I'm afraid not..." she glanced in the rex's direction, "we just have to let him have time to absorb the information he's heard and hope that once he does come to terms with it that he'll be alright."
Over the next few days Rex seem to mope around the museum and not really notice anything that went on around him. His friends were starting to worry about him and after about a week or so they decided to finally confront him about it. They were just sitting down to have lunch together but uncharacteristically, Rex didn't seem interested in food. "Come on Rex you should really eat something man," Woog said scooting the food in the tyrannosaur's direction, "thanks but I don't really have an apetite right now..." he said in almost a whisper. Dweeb and Woog exchanged looks as Elsa spoke, "please Rex...you shouldn't let yourself go without eating...you could become sick," she encouraged. Rex's response was to lay on his bedding and curl himself into a tight ball, facing away from his friends.
About this time Lily was just entering the room where the dinosaurs were, having gone home to grab a shower and retrieve some fresh clothes. "That water felt good..." she said to herself. She looked at the dinosaurs sitting around the lava lamp heater and noticed that Rex was facing away from his friends.
The three exchanged looks with one another before Woog attempted once more to get Rex to at least eat something, "come on Rex...can't let our might tyrannosaur become weak." At hearing the tric's words Rex whirled around and came face to face with him so fast none of them could react, "did you not hear me? I said no!" he snapped, all the while baring his razor sharp teeth at the tric. Woog took a step or two back away from Rex, "alright man...no problem...just lookin' out for you is all.." he stated. Silence fell around the room as Rex stood up and walked out of the room to be alone with his friends and Lily watching after him in shock. Once he was out of sight she approached the other dinosaurs, "hey guys..." she greeted. "Hey Lily..." Elsa said. A moment of silence passed before Lily spoke, "what was that all about?" she asked. Woog and Dweeb exchanged looks with one another as Elsa answered, "we're not sure..." "Yeah we was only looking out for Rex," Woog stated. "Yeah we don't know why he lashed out like that," Dweeb added. "It's just not like him..." Elsa added. Lily looked down slightly, "perhaps his mind is still lingering on what I told him the other day," she reasoned. Again silence hung in the room briefly before anyone spoke, "perhaps but I would think he would've been able to get pass it by now," Dweeb said. "You would think so," Woog added. "You have to understand that before we became a family Rex was always alone," Lily said. The three dinosaurs looked at the young woman, "how do you know that?" Dweeb asked. Lily let a soft sigh pass through her lips, "because Rex told me..." she came to sit on Rex's bedding as she began to explain everything she and Rex had talked about. By the end of her explaination the other dinosaurs were left shocked and silent. After a few moments passed Elsa spoke, "I never knew how much Rex went through in his younger years, he's never shared that with any of us." "Not at all..." Dweeb added. "I would think he'd confide in us about things like that. He knows we've all felt like that after coming here," Woog reasoned. "But there's a difference here.." Lily stated, "back in your time, you all had herds and flocks you stayed in. You're all social dinosaurs, tyrannosaurs typically live a life alone." As the three absorbed her words they now began to understand more about what Rex was feeling now, "I never thought about it that way," Woog said. "Me neither..." Dweeb added. "I do feel bad for Rex...he's such a sweet fellow but I never imagined that he had experienced anything like that," Elsa said wiping away a stray tear. Another sigh passed through Lily's lips, "yes but you mustn't let him know I told you any of that. I gave my word to him that it would stay just between me and him." "We promise we won't say word Lily," Elsa said with the two males nodding their heads in agreement. With that Lily stood up from where she had been sitting, "I'm gonna go talk to Rex or at least offer him some silent comfort..." she said walking from the room.
When she found Rex, it was no surprise where he was, "oh Rex..." she could see the look on his face and knew he still couldn't let go of what he had learned after coming in here. She quietly made her way over to his side but remained silent, knowing he very well could snap at her unintentionally, "I want to help him but I don't know what I can really say to help him." Rex had his eyes closed and head turned away from her so she was fairly certain he didn't know she was there. She raised a gentle hand and carefully placed it on his shoulder as she always did, caressing the scales there. To her surprise he jumped slightly at feeling her touch but made no move to get away from her. He glanced at her from the corner of his eye only to see her offer him a soft smile, he turned his eyes away from and closed his them once more. She knew his heart was hurting now and she wanted to make him smile again but she wasn't sure how. She stepped away from his shoulder and came sit next to his head, resting her cheek against his and nuzzling him tenderly. Despite how depressed he felt, he relished in her soft touch and silent comfort she was offering him and he found his eyes burning with tears but made no attempt to hide them. Lily knew he wouldn't be able to get past this until he allowed his emotions to flow from his body. She sat with him for the longest time while his tears fell down his face and at one point she too shed a few tears because he was hurting so much. Once his tears finally stopped flowing he turned his head just enough to look into her bright green eyes. She offered him a loving smile as she always did and he nuzzled her tenderly before flicking his tongue against her cheek. She let a soft laugh escape her throat as she caressed the side of his jaw with her soft hand. At last a half-smile played on his lips as he buried his nose into her hair, inhaling her calming scent, "it's alright Rex..." she whispered, "I'm here...I'm here and I'm never leaving your side, I promise." These were her only words to him and Rex continued to nuzzle her so sweetly until he drifted off to sleep with her sitting beside him. She remained at his side, offering him her warmth in hopes of soothing him. While he slept, he curled his body protectively around her delicate form and tucked her closer to him. Lily was pleased to see that Rex seem to be calmer now and she hoped that when he woke up that he would be back to his cheerful self again. "Rest well my sweet Rex..." she whispered before pressing a kiss to his cheek and snuggling down into the warmth of his scaly body.
Sometime later the others came looking for the pair only to find them asleep side by side, "it appears she was able to help Rex," Elsa whispered. "I sure hope so," Woog said. "Maybe he'll be back to his old self when he wakes up," Dweeb added. "Come...we should let them rest..." Elsa stated as they walked back to their room.
It was nearly evening when the pair woke up from their nap, Rex slowly began to open his eyes and at first he wasn't sure where he was but upon raising his head he became more aware of his surroundings. A yawn passed through his lips as he turned his eyes to the beauty at his side and he smiled upon seeing her, "she stayed by me this whole time..." he said to himself. He lowered his head and nuzzled her lovingly which in turn made her begin to stir, "hmn..Rex..." she murmured sleepily. "I'm here Lily..." he purred, flicking his tongue against her cheek. When her emerald gaze rested on the tyrannosaur she smiled up at him, "hey handsome..." she purred, caressing his cheek as she did. She sat up and stretched the stiffness from her body, "did you sleep well?" she asked. "I think so..." he stated, "what about you?" She gave him a warm smile, "I always sleep well when I'm next to you Rex..." she said pressing a kiss to his lips. He returned the kiss and allowed a clawed-hand to caress her side and back, "thank you..." he whispered. "For what?" she asked. "For staying with me...I know I haven't been easy to deal with lately," he replied. "Oh honey it's alright..." she pressed a kiss to his cheek, "I understand...I said I'm gonna stay by your side no matter what and that's a promise I intend to keep." He nuzzled her once more as he spoke, "we should probably head back to where the others are. I'm sure they've started dinner without us." "Yeah besides I'm sure you're probably starving. You haven't really eaten too much over these last few days," Lily replied. Rex chuckled softly, "yeah you do have a point," he playfully flicked his tongue against her cheek, making her laugh. She gazed up at him with a warmth the tyrannosaur hadn't seen before, "I'm glad to see you smile again big guy, you had me worried you know." Rex's face fell a little, "I didn't mean to worry you darlin'..." he purred, letting the words roll off his tongue without giving it a second thought. Upon hearing his words Lily's face wore a light blush, "Rex..." she murmured. Seeing the blush on her face, he realized what he'd let slip but at the same time it felt right. Afterall they were a bit of a couple now, another soft chuckle rattled from his throat as he nuzzled her then pressed his lips to hers. A moment passed with them looking into each other's eyes before either of them spoke, "come on let's go get some dinner," Lily said. "Alright.." with that Rex stood up and both he and Lily walked back into the room where the others were.
When the pair entered all eyes fell on them and at first no one said anything but since there was a bit of tension in the air Woog decided to speak, "listen Rex...I um..." "Wait..." Rex said, "I want to apologize for the way I acted earlier. You were only trying to look out for me and I...I acted like a real jerk." A moment of silence passed before anything was said, "hey man don't sweat it.." Woog said. "Really?" Rex asked. "Yeah..." Woog answered. "We've all had bad days.." Dweeb added. "Yes and you know we'd never hold anything against you Rex," Elsa said. "You really mean that?" Rex asked giving his friends a curious look. "Of course we do," Elsa answered. "Yeah..." Dweeb added. "So come and chow down with us," Woog suggested offering the rex some hotdogs. With a smile on his lips Rex and Lily came over to sit with them and enjoy dinner together, as if the earlier incident hadn't happened at all.
The rest of the evening was spent with the dinosaurs sharing stories along with Lily sharing stories from when she was young girl. She also had her guitar with her and she played some songs for her dinosaur friends which they seem to enjoy. She was happy to see her friends so happy but none more so than see him smile again made her heart happy in a way she couldn't describe. "You are very good at playing the guitar," Rex complimented. "Yes indeed," Elsa added. "Thanks you guys," Lily replied, "it's getting late...we should try and get some sleep." "Oh come on play one more song," Dweeb whined. "Yeah one more," Woog added. Lily laughed, "I don't know..." she said. It was then that Rex placed a loving claw on her cheek, "please darlin'?" he purred. A light blush played on her cheeks, "oh alright.." she replied with a smile. She thought for a moment or two before she began to play a song she knew the dinosaurs would like.
When your soul finds the soul it was waiting for
When someone walks into your heart through an open door
When your hand finds the hand it was meant to hold
Don't let go
Someone comes into your world
Suddenly, your world has changed forever
No, there's no one else's eyes
That can see into me
No one else's arms can lift
Lift me up so high
Your love lifts me out of time
And you know my heart by heart
Whoa, whoa
When you're one with the one you were meant to find
Everything falls in place, all the stars align
When you're touched by the cloud that has touched your soul
Don't let go
Someone comes into your life
It's like they've been in your life forever
No, there's no one else's eyes
That can see into me
No one else's arms can lift
Lift me up so high
Your love lifts me out of time
And you know my heart by heart
So now we've found our way to find each other
So now I found my way to you
No, there's no one else's eyes
That can see into me
No
No, there's no one else's eyes
That can see into me
No one else's arms can lift
Lift me up so high
Your love lifts me out of time
And you know my heart by heart
Whoa, whoa
And you know my heart by heart
Whoa, whoa
And you know my heart by heart
And you know my heart by heart
When she finished her song each of the dinosaurs wore a very soft look on their faces but each felt a sense of happiness at the same time. Rex lowered his head and nuzzled Lily so lovingly with her smiling at him,"that was a lovely song..." Elsa commented. "Yes it was..." Dweeb said as a yawn passed through his scaly lips along with Woog. "Think I'm gonna turn in for the night..." the tric added. "Me too.." Dweeb added. "Goodnight you two..." Elsa said. The two males easily slipped off to sleep and were snoring in no time. The pterodactyl yawned before settling into her nest-like bedding, "you know Rex..." he made his gaze meet hers, "I am happy to see you in good spirits again." The tyrannosaur smiled, "thanks Elsa." "Goodnight you two..." she said before curling herself up and drifting of to sleep.
With the lovers being the only ones awake Rex turned to Lily, "I want to thank you..." he turned his gentle eyes to her bright emeralds, "for staying by my side these past few days." Lily raised a loving hand and caressed his cheek, "I told you I would didn't I?" she asked playfully. A soft chuckle rattled from his throat, "yes you did and I really do appreciate it more than you know Lily. It means a lot to me..." he took her hand in his, "just as you do." A soft gasp escaped her lips as they became painted pink with a light blush, "you mean a lot to me too Rex." Rex's smile never faded as he gazed at her with so much affection, he caressed her cheek tenderly, allowing her hair to tickle his fingers. Lily placed her hand on his claw, nuzzling against his palm and purring softly, "Rex..." she purred. The signal was clear and Rex would not deny her, he lowered his head until their lips met. The kiss was everything they wanted it to be, it was tender and loving but there was also an air of warmth to it. The rex deepened the kiss slightly when he placed his claw on the back of her neck, tangling his fingers in her beautiful light blonde tresses. Lily's heart raced in her chest and she knew Rex could hear it, "I've never felt such a connection to someone like I do with Rex." When they finally let go of the kiss they were panting slightly for their breath, "my angel..." Rex purred. Lily smiled and nuzzled her cheek against his muzzle before placing a kiss there, "my protector.." she purred. A content silence passed between them as they held to each other, Rex had Lily in his arms holding her tenderly against his chest with his head lightly resting on her shoulder. Lily was a bit surprised that a creature like Rex was able to hold her so tenderly, she wasn't the least bit concerned that he would ever hurt her. She knew he cared too much to do anything like that, she side-glanced at the tyrannosaur to see him just staring at the light in front of them. She nuzzled her cheek against the side of his face, enjoying the warmth he offered her. As she sat there with him Lily felt a warmth within her that she had never felt before and she was beginning to understand what it was, "I've started to fall in love with Rex..." After coming to that realization she silently wondered if perhaps he had as well. Rex was deep in thought as he held Lily close to him, "I've never been this happy in my entire life..." he glanced at her from the corner of his eye, "I'm so lucky...she's so kind and beautiful...I don't know what I'd do without her." It was then a realization hit him, "am I...am I falling in love with her?" He turned his gaze to look at her fully and upon doing so she smiled at him which made his heart flutter in his chest, "I am falling in love with her." He lowered his head and pressed his lips to hers as she returned it with the same amount of emotion he was feeling. When they let go of the kiss he spoke, "we should try and get some sleep." As she was ready to respond a yawn passed through her lips, "yes...*yawn*...I guess we should." He smiled before pressing his lips to hers once more, "goodnight my angel.." he purred. "Goodnight my sweet Rex," Lily murmured as she lay down beside him and cuddled against his body. In a few moments she was sleeping peacefully at his side. Rex curled his body around hers making sure she would stay warm through the night, "sweet dreams Lily..." he whispered as a yawn escaped his lips before laying his head down and drifting off to sleep.
Several Months Later:
The months had gone by and fall was in full swing, the weather had become cooler and everywhere was leaves colored red, orange and yellow. Lily was in the park painting the beauty of the fall colors with the lake at it's center, reflecting them. She was so focused on her work that she hadn't noticed someone watching her and this time it wasn't her Rex.
Sitting on a bench a few yards away was a couple of creeps that use to frequent Screweyes' circus but since that went out of business they switched to creeping around the park just watching people. Now they were watching as Lily worked on her painting, "ain't she perdy?" said one. "Oh yes very perdy..." agreed the second. "Come on boys...let's have some fun.." replied the third as they began to make their way over towards the unsuspecting woman.
Just as Lily was putting the finishing touches on her painting, she heard footsteps coming from behind her, "so you came to join me did you...?" Lily turned around expecting to see Rex but saw the three thugs standing behind her. "Oh who were you expecting sweet cheeks?" asked one as he placed a grimey hand beneath her chin. Lily shoved the man's hand away from her face, "get away from me!" she shot back. She took a step back from the three men, dropping her pallet in the process, "come on honey we won't hurt ya," said the second thug. "I don't want any of you near me.." Lily spat as she went to run but found the third man's hand around her wrist, "hey where you goin'..." he pulled her in close to him, "we only want to have some fun with ya." "Yeah we do..." said the first thug with a laugh. "Let go of me!" she shouted as she tried to pull away from the man. Then the three men then came to surround her, "pick her up boys..." said the leader. "NOO!" Lily yelled.
Rex was on his way to spend time with Lily as he had promised her he'd come to the park after the work day was over. He had a smile on his face and a spring in his step, he had made up his mind that he wanted to do something special for Lily and tell her how much she truly meant to him. "I can't wait to see the face of my beautiful..." His thoughts were cut short when he heard someone yell, "let go of me!" Rex stopped in his tracks, "what was that?" He listened again and heard the voice call out again, "NOO!" "*Gasp* Lily..." Rex broke into a run until he came to their spot to see Lily being surrounded by three thugs.
Unaware that her dinosaur had reached their spot, Lily was fighting against the hold of the man who held to her wrist, "get away from me!" she growled. "Come on honey..." he drew her in close, "we won't hurt ya." Lily's eyes darted between the three as she wasn't sure what to do, "I wish Rex was here with me..." she said to herself.
To see the way these men were looking at Lily made his blood boil, "hey!" Upon hearing a voice behind them the thugs looked behind them, "what the hell?" said one thug. "Get away from my girl!" Rex growled, narrowing his eyes and baring his sharp teeth. "Rex..." Lily cried out. The leader glanced at her then back the tyrannosaur, "sooo...it's you...the one who beat Screweyes. I thought that was you..." "Who I am is none of your concern," Rex shot back. The leader's eyes darted between the girl and the dinosaur, "and she's your girl is she?" he said drawing Lily in closer. "Take your hands off her!" Rex growled, making sure his sharp teeth was on display as he took a few steps towards them. Taking advantage of the thugs being focused on Rex she used her free hand, balled it into a fist and made it collide with one of the thugs' nose before elbowing him. "Ahh! The bitch hit me!" cried the thug. Hearing the thugs words Rex was ready to lunge at them but didn't want to have Lily get caught up in it. Lily used her foot to stamp on the foot of the other one before turning her attention to the leader, "I told you...let her go..." Rex growled. "Oh and why would we do that?" the leader asked. "Because if you don't I'll..." Rex threatened. "Or you'll what? You ain't no killer t-rex anymore so you ain't gonna do nothing.." the leader sneered as he turned his back to the rex with the intention of kissing Lily. Taking advantage of the thug having his back turned to him, Rex lunged forward and plucked the leader off his feet before throwing him away from Lily. The other two thugs shrunk back away from the girl, giving her the opportunity to run to his side. Rex stole a glance at Lily as she came to stand next to him, "now I'm gonna say this only once..." he took a few steps towards the thugs, "you stay away from my girl," he lowered his head, "do I make myself clear?" he asked, his eyes turning to slits for a moment. The thugs, too startled to do anything else merely nodded as they backed away from the angry rex, "if I ever see you come near her again...I won't be so nice," Rex threatened. "We got it..." said one of the thugs as they scrambled to their feet along with the leader and took off running.
Rex stood there for a moment as he tried to regain his composer before moving towards Lily in order to comfort her. Lily clutched her shirt as if trying find comfort, "thank goodness Rex got here in time...I shiver to think what woulda happened if he hadn't." She was brought out of her thoughts when she felt Rex nuzzling her tenderly, "I'm so glad you're alright Lily..." he said, burying his nose into her hair. Lily nuzzled against Rex's cheek before pressing a kiss there, "thank you Rex..." she murmured as a few silent sobs followed. Rex's heart felt as though it would burst out of his chest as he held Lily close to him, nuzzling and comforting her. Lily clung to the tyrannosaur and relished in the warmth of his scales against her skin, "I feel so safe with him.." she said to herself as she pulled back just enough to look him in the eyes. Rex placed a gentle claw on her cheek and caressed it tenderly, in that moment he knew how he felt about her and he knew he had to tell her, "Lily..." "Yes Rex..." "I love you..." he murmured. Lily's eyes widened slightly before softening, "I love you too..." she whispered. A soft smile played on his lips as he pressed them to Lily's as she returned it, all the while clinging to him as if he were her lifeline. When they let go of the kiss Rex nuzzled his nose into her hair before pressing a kiss there, "I'm glad you're ok angel.." he whispered. Lily hummed approvingly, "I am too..." she whispered.
A moment or two passed before Rex spoke, "did you get your painting done?" he asked. She smiled at him, "yeah I did..." she said turning her eyes in the direction of the painting. The pair then made their way over to it and she picked up her dropped pallet, "it turned out great..." Rex said, "but I don't expect anything less from my Lily." She smiled at his words, "the fall colors turned out perfect.." she said looking at her painting. Rex came to bed up next to her, curling his body partially around her, making sure to keep a protective eye out for anymore trouble. Lily had to admit that she felt more at ease with Rex next to her and also found herself feeling happier after hearing him say that he loves her. She considered herself very fortunate to have someone like Rex in her life, she considered it a gift.
The rest of the evening the pair remained in the park, beneath the willow tree and gazing out over the lake, watching the sun as it began to set over the horizon. Rex was bedded up and holding Lily tenderly in his arms, nuzzling her and flicking his tongue against her cheek affectionately. Lily couldn't help but giggle at Rex's playful antics and she had noticed that he had been extra affectionate since the incident earlier but she wasn't complaining. She relished in his affection and love, just as he relished in hers as well. The peacefulness of the evening was evident but the pair were far from complaining, they were enjoying this time together. "Have I told you today how much you mean to me?" Rex asked playfully, flicking his tongue against her cheek. She giggled in response to his antics, "I know you told me that you love me..." she replied. A soft chuckle rattled from his throat as he spoke, "I do indeed but there's more to it too." "Hmm..." she gave him a playful smirk, "do tell..." she said batting her eyelashes at him. He knew what Lily was doing but he was enjoying it, he took her hand into his as he spoke, "Lily... since we met there has been something about you that caught my attention. You're sweet, you have such a kind heart, you never once showed fear of me and you were always so kind to me. In getting to know you, I found the answers that I had been looking for." She smiled at him and pressed a kiss to his nose as he continued, "you made me feel like I was more than just a simple dinosaur. You showed me that there's more to life than meets the eye and you taught me to love," he said with a soft smile on his lips. "The more time I spend with you, the more I find myself falling more in love with you each day. You make me feel so complete..."Rex murmured pressing a kiss to her lips. Lily had a blush painted on her cheeks, "I feel the same way about you Rex. You have surprised me at every turn, every day I learn more about you. As we got to know each other you began to show me a side of yourself that was only meant for me to see..." Rex smiled as she continued, "you showed me your heart and in doing so, made me fall in love with you. Every day spent with you is bright and filled with happiness, each day spent with you..is a gift." "Lily..." Rex murmured, pressing his lips to hers with her returning it. As she kissed the tyrannosaur, she pressed her body against him as she clung to him. Rex held her against him so tenderly, resting one claw on the back of her neck while the other trailed down her back and came to rest on her hip. When they finally broke off the kiss Lily rested her forehead against Rex's muzzle, "I love you.." she purred. "I love you too my angel..." he murmured.
By now the sun had set over the horizon and the stars were beginning to shine along with the moon, "beautiful..." Lily whispered turning her eyes to the sky. "Yes it is..." Rex then turned his eyes back to her, "but nothing compares to your beauty Lily." A soft gasp escaped her lips as her emerald gaze met his dark one, "I mean it...you are the most beautiful woman I've ever met," Rex replied. A warm smile played on her lips, "you are more handsome than any human man I've ever seen, and my heart has never belonged to another the way it does you Rex." He hummed approvingly, "I'm glad..." was his only response to her words. The pair remained in the park a few moments longer before Lily began to pack up her painting supplies and in no time she had everything placed back into her bag and the painting covered to prevent it from being ruined. With her ready to go Rex helped her up onto his back before picking up her easel with the covered painting on it, in order to carrying it back to the museum.
They always enjoyed the walk back to the museum, it was peaceful and quiet, time for just the two of them to take in the beauty of the evening together. As usual Rex brought Lily to her apartment so she could grab a shower and put on some fresh clothes. On this evening Rex noticed she was quieter than usual but he knew the incident earlier in the day had rattled her. He purred softly to soothe her and she smiled at him and placed a kiss on his cheek. "Are you alright Lily?" he asked. She merely nodded her head to the rex's question, he could tell she wasn't, "you can tell me you know..." he whispered. Lily made her green gems meet the gentle gaze of her Rex and upon doing so saw the warmth he held in his eyes. She let a soft sigh pass through her lips as she spoke, "I guess I'm still a little rattled from earlier.." she said in almost a whisper. Rex had heard her clearly as his hearing was far more sensitive than hers, "you don't have to worry about anything like that ever happening again Lily. I won't let it..." he stated. She offered him a soft smile, "my sweet Rex..." she whispered as she nuzzled her cheek against his neck. He hummed in response to her affection, "I promise my angel..." Lily made her emerald eyes look into his dark ones, "I will always protect you no matter what." Her smile never faded, "I know you will Rex..." she purred. Rex lay down at the door of her apartment building before helping her down so she could run into her apartment to get a shower and get some fresh clothes. While he waited Rex remained on guard outside, listening for anything around him. Deep down he understood what Lily was thinking as he had thought about it a little himself, though he wouldn't admit it out loud. He was brought out of his thoughts when Lily came back outside and was standing in front of him, "you ready?" he asked. "With you? Always..." she replied with a smile. He flashed her a smile then helped her up onto his back, "shall I take your overnight bag my Lady?" he asked. She giggled, "why thank you Sir Knight.." she replied. He chuckled softly as he took a gentle hold of her bag and her completed painting. Though she had taken her easel and painting supplies into her apartment she had left her painting with Rex as she intended to hang it in the museum.
The walk back to the museum was nothing for the rex to complete, having a long stride allowed him to get places fairly easily, no matter the distance. When the pair reached the doors of the museum Rex carefully opened them and walked inside, "did you want to hang this up tonight?" he asked. "Yeah may as well..." Lily replied. The tyrannosaur made his way towards the wing where the art was hung up and over to the spot where Lily hung her artwork. Once they were standing in the art wing Rex lay down before helping Lily down to the floor, "there you go my Lady..." he said after helping her down. A playful smile appeared on her lips, "thank you Sir Knight..." she replied with a slight bow. Rex was glad to see his girl in such good spirits, he felt relief flow through him. He watched as Lily took her painting over to the empty spot on the wall, then uncovering her painting, she placed it on the nail that had been pre-placed. With it hanging on the wall she stood back to look at it briefly, "lovely..." she said. "Yes you are..." Rex replied. She turned to look at her Rex and smile, "charmer.." she replied playfully. When she came to stand back in front of him, he placed a kiss on her knuckles, "my beautiful flower..." he purred. A light blush played on her cheeks with a smile on her lips, "you are so sweet." "Come on..let's try and get some sleep, it's been a long day..." Rex murmured. "Alright.." Lily let a yawn pass through her lips but became surprised when Rex lifted her into his arms along with her overnight bag and proceeeded to carry her to the room where the other dinosaurs were already sleeping.
Upon entering they found that Elsa, Woog and Dweeb were indeed asleep which meant the couple was alone together. Rex gentle placed Lily and her overnight bag down next to his bedding before laying down on it. Sitting next to Rex, Lily leaned against his chest while his arms came up to wrap protectively around her small frame. The feeling of the rex's scales against her body made her feel so comfortable and content, not to mention safe and warm. Rex knew this and it's why held her so tenderly against his chest, "you know..." he glanced down at her as she looked up at him, "I can't tell you how relieved I am that I got there in time. I shiver to think what would've happened if I hadn't," Rex admitted. A soft gasp escaped the young woman's lips as she cast her gaze down slightly, "I know...I am too."Rex placed his claw on her cheek and caressed it lovingly with Lily nuzzling against his palm before placing a kiss there. When she turned her eyes back to his, she could see traces of tears in his eyes. "Rex? What's the matter?" she asked. "I would never be able to forgive myself..." Rex whispered with his voice wavering slightly. Lily's eyes widened slightly at hearing the dinosaur's voice so soft, "Rex..." she breathed. Rex closed his eyes in an attempt to prevent his tears from falling, "I mean it Lily...if...if something had happened to you..." his dark gaze met her green one, "my heart would've shattered and it never would've been whole again." Lily's face softened as tears began to fill her eyes as well, she placed her hand on his claw and pressed another kiss into his palm. When their eyes met again Rex lowered his head and pressed his lips to Lily's in a tender, loving kiss. She could feel how all of the tyrannosaur's emotions was held in the kiss he was giving her and she was right there to return the emotion. Rex placed his claw on the back of her neck, deepening the kiss while his other claw came up to rest on her lower back. Lily lay back on the bedding with Rex carefully leaning over her, being mindful not to hurt her. When they broke off the kiss for the briefest of moments to gaze into each other's eyes, "I love you my beautiful flower..." he purred. She smiled up at him, "and I love you my handsome rex.." she murmured. Both Rex and Lily wore light blushes on their faces which was only enhanced by the light of the lava lamp heater, "so beautiful..." the rex murmured, running a gentle claw through Lily's golden tresses. She hummed softly and pressed her lips to his wrist before kissing his palm again. Meeting the gaze of the kind-hearted rex again, Lily could see that there was something in his gaze that she hadn't seen before, "I've never seen him look at me that way before.." was her only thought. Meanwhile Rex's mind was focused on other things, "Lily...she's so beautiful, so warm...her body feels so good against mine..." he found his claw roaming down her back before coming to rest on her hip. His body felt hot in a way it never had before, "my body...it's burning up. My heart is pounding so hard, it feels like it'll beat right out of my chest." He had an idea what it's cause was but he knew he couldn't act on it, despite how badly he wanted to, "I need to calm down...I don't want to hurt her and or scare her. If I lost her then I would have no reason to keep going." As Lily went to go for another kiss Rex whispered, "Lily..." she looked up at him with her green eyes shimmering, "maybe we should stop." "What's wrong Rex?" she asked. He took a couple of breaths before speaking, "because if we keeping going we..." he paused for the briefest of moments, "and if I hurt you I wouldn't be able to live with myself." She looked down slightly but was surprised when she felt his claw beneath her chin making her gaze meet his once more, "I do want to, believe me I want to but..." he caressed her cheek tenderly, "I don't want to end up hurting you. You are very precious to me my Lily." A soft sigh passed through her lips, "you're very precious to me too Rex and despite our physical differences, I want to be with you that way too.." she admitted. "But what if I were to hurt you?" Rex questioned. Lily raised a gentle hand and caressed his cheek soothingly, "I know you would never hurt me Rex, on purpose or by accident. You're always so careful with me no matter what we're doing," she replied. Rex found a soft purr emanating from his throat, "my sweet Lily..." he murmured. "Perhaps we should sleep on it...before we make this decision," she reasoned. He rested his muzzle against her forehead, "I think that would be best, I love you Lily..." he purred. "I love you too Rex...with all my heart," she murmured. She felt him smile as he moved to lay completely on his side, still holding her in his arms with her head on his chest. This was a very intimate gesture for Rex, this moment meant so much to him and he knew that it meant a great deal to Lily as well. Both understood that this wasn't something to simply jump into without giving it some proper thought. Lily cuddled further into Rex's warmth as they began to drift off to sleep, "goodnight my loving tyrannosaur," she whispered with a yawn. "Goodnight my beautiful Lily," he pressed a kiss into her hair, "sweet dreams." "Sweet dreams Rex," Lily murmured as she fell asleep in Rex's arms. He glanced down at her for a brief moment as a sleepy smile played on his lips, "my angel..." he whispered as he drifted off, wrapping his tail around her in order to keep her warm.
During the night Rex began to dream, about him and Lily together...
Rex's Dream:
In the dream Rex saw his beautiful Lily standing by the lake in the park, he saw her turn around to look at him with a warm smile on her lips. He let his eyes roam over her small frame only to see their love blooming within her belly. When he reached to place a hand upon her belly, he found that his hands were no longer claws, but human hands. With one arm around her back and the other around her belly, he held her so tenderly, resting his chin on her shoulder as he placed sweet kisses on her cheek. She nuzzled her cheek against his as she spoke, "I love you Rex." "I love you to my beautiful flower..." was Rex's reply as the dream ended.
End of Dream:
When Rex's eyes opened he wasn't sure of where he was at first but as he became more awake, he saw that he was sleeping in the room with his friends. It was when he felt movement next to him that he looked down to see Lily still sleeping in his arms, snuggled into the warmth of his body. He found a smile on his lips as he pressed a kiss into her hair, when he pulled back to look at her peaceful face he felt his heart flutter in his chest. As he remembered his dream, he found a wish in his heart, "I wish...for just one day...that I could be with her that way." He lowered his head once more and slowly drifted back off to sleep with Lily still cuddled in his arms.
Out In Space Somewhere:
Captain Neweyes was sipping on some tea, relaxing in his chair by the warm lava lamp-style heater. He was looking at the flame-like light flickering in front of him, deep in thought. That is until his wish radio went off, "Captain Neweyes..." Vorb said. "What is it Vorb?" he asked. "Your radio is going off..." Neweyes stood up and came over to the radio to listen, "it sounds like someone has a wish..." the little martian added. "Yes it does..." Neweyes commented. "Wonder who it is?" Vorb questioned. The gray-haired man looked at the radio a moment more before turning it up in order to listen to it. Upon doing so they heard a very familiar voice come through, "I wish...for just one day...that I could be with her that way..." Vorb looked at Captain Neweyes, "that's Rex..." he said. Neweyes looked at the martian briefly before speaking, "yes I think it is..." he commented. The pair watched as a bubble with Rex in it, holding the sleeping Lily in his arms. "It appears the rex is in love with her," Vorb said. A soft smile played on the old man's lips, "yes he is..." he sighed. Vorb noticed the look in the Captain's eyes, "what is it skipper?" he asked curiously. "Vorb..to have someone to love like that is something truly special, we should all be so fortunate," Neweyes replied. They continued to look at the bubble to see the way Rex was looking at Lily, "are you gonna grant his wish?" Vorb asked curiously. Neweyes gazed at the bubble a moment or two more, "you know something Vorb?" "What is it skipper?" the martian replied. "I'm gonna go to the archive room, there is the answer to Rex's wish..." Neweyes replied. "I'll keep an eye on things up here Captain," the little martian replied. "Thank you Vorb," with that Neweyes made is way to the archive room of his ship.
Back at the Museum:
It was a little after early morning and the dinosaurs were starting to awaken from their peaceful night of sleep. Each stretching the stiffness from their bodies before going to get something to eat, the usual, hotdogs. Elsa, Woog and Dweeb were awake ready to head down to get their breakfast just as Rex was starting to wake up, along with Lily. "Morning Rex," Elsa greeted. "Morning Elsa, Woog, Dweeb..." he replied with a yawn. "Are you coming to breakfast with us?" Dweeb asked. Rex shook his head to rid himself of the remaining sleepiness, "yeah I..." he glanced down at the woman starting to wake up at his side, "we'll be right down..." he corrected. "Alright man," Woog replied as he and the other two went to get breakfast. Now alone with her, Rex glanced down at Lily as she stretched the stiffness from her body, "good morning Rex..." she said with a yawn. A soft smile played on the rex's face, "good morning my beautiful Lily..." he purred, lowering his head and nuzzling her. She hummed approvingly as she raised a gentle hand to caress the side of his lower jaw. He smiled at her, "shall we get some breakfast?" he asked. "Yes..." was Lily's answer to the tyrannosaur's question. With a simple nod the pair made their way down to get some breakfast where the other dinosaurs were already eating.
Back out in space, Captain Neweyes had come from the archive room and was making his way to the laboratory, working on something special. When Vorb came down to check on the Captain he was surprised to see what he was doing, "what you got there Captain Neweyes?" he questioned. Neweyes was silent for a moment before answering, "it is the answer for Rex's wish." Vorb tilted his head slightly, "what do you mean?" "You'll see soon enough," was the Captain's only response to the martian's question.
Meanwhile, the dinosaurs were enjoying their breakfast together, "man these hotdogs are always so good..." Woog said. Rex chuckled, "they always taste the same to me," he replied. "Yeah, a hotdog is a hotdog," Lily agreed. Woog arched a scaly brow but said nothing more as he took another bite out of the hotdog he held to. Dweeb glanced from the tric to the rex, "so how was your evening yesterday Lily? Did you get your painting done?" he asked. Lily smiled, "I always do and I have it hung up in the art wing as well." "Yeah she did an amazing job," Rex praised. "I look forward to seeing it," Elsa chimed in. "I'd be happy to show it you Elsa," Lily replied. The pterodactyl merely nodded a silent thanks as she ate on the hotdog in her clawed-hand. "So what's our day look like today?" Woog asked between bites. Rex swallowed down what he had in his mouth before answering, "I'm not sure, I guess when Dr. Bleeb gets here she'll tell us."
Upstairs the good Dr. was on her way downstairs to get some breakfast when a voice reached her ears, "Julia..." the gray-hair woman turned to see Captain Neweyes standing at the door. "Captain Neweyes..." she said as she approached, "what do we owe the pleasure of this visit?" she asked kindly. A soft chuckle left the old man's lips, "I've actually come because of a wish," he answered. Julia tilted her head slightly, "a wish?" "Yes ma'am..." he glanced around the room, "where are the dinosaurs this morning?" he asked, changing the subject. "They're down in the cafeteria having breakfast. Would you like to join us?" she offered. "Oh no thank you, I've already had breakfast but I will accompany you to the cafeteria," Neweyes replied. "I'd welcome the company," Bleeb answered. "Lead the way.." Neweyes replied as they made their way downstairs to the cafeteria.
When they reached the cafeteria they saw all the dinosaurs sitting and talking together, they also took note of the young woman sitting next to the rex. Neweyes smiled at seeing the bond between the two and even Bleeb was happy to see it as well, "hello my friends," Neweyes greeted. Upon hearing the man's voice, the dinosaurs turned to see the Captain and Bleeb standing together, "hello Captain," Elsa greeted. "Hey there Captain, how are you?" Rex added. "I'm well Rex, how are all of you doing?" he asked as he and Bleeb came over to sit near the dinosaurs. "We're doing good," Dweeb answered with Woog nodding his head. "That's good," Neweyes then turned to look at Lily, "how are you today Miss?" he asked. "I'm well Captain, I've been completing and selling my artwork," Lily answered. "Well that's good to hear, I'll have to have a look myself. Perhaps I will buy some of it from you," Neweyes remarked. Lily smiled at the gray-haired man as he turned his blue eyes to the rex, "Rex..." the tyrannosaur turned his gaze to the man, "can I speak with you a minute?" he asked. "Of course Captain..." Rex turned to Lily, "I'll be right back.." he whispered before pressing a kiss to her cheek.
Then standing up he and Neweyes, stepped away from the others so they could speak privately, "so what did you want to speak to me about Captain Neweyes?" Rex asked curiously. A soft smile played on Neweyes' lips as he spoke, "I heard your wish Rex." "You did?" Rex questioned. The Captain nodded his head as he continued, "and I've brought you something that will allow your wish to come true." Rex's eyes widened slightly as Neweyes presented a small bottle from his pocket, "what is this?" he asked curiously. "It's a potion I created, it will allow you take the form of a human for one twenty-four period. You will be a human man for one day and one night, after that you will return to the rex that you are," Neweyes explained. Rex looked thoughtfully at the bottle as it was placed gently in his claw, "I know the love you are feeling and it is gift to have such a thing in this life. It makes my old heart smile to see the bond you have with Lily and the love you two share." Rex smiled at Neweyes, "thank you for this Captain, I really do appreciate it." Neweyes nodded his head, "oh and one other thing Rex..." the tyrannosaur's eyes never left the man standing in front of him, "keep this secret close to your heart and never tell another soul about it. This is something for only you and Lily to know." "I understand," Rex replied. "Very good..." with that Captain Neweyes walked back over to Bleeb to speak with her, leaving Rex standing there with the small bottle in his claw.
A little later that morning after Captain Neweyes had left, Rex pulled Lily aside, making sure the others wouldn't see and showed her what the Captain had brought to him. Upon seeing the bottle in Rex's clawed-hands Lily became very curious, "why did the Captain bring this to you?" she asked in a whisper, knowing full that Rex could hear her clearly. Rex swallowed down the lump in his throat before speaking, "he heard the wish I made last night." Lily tilted her head slightly, "what wish?" she asked curiously. Rex took Lily's hand into his, he looked down at their hands before meeting her gaze again, "I wished that for just one day...that I could be human so I could be with you." As Lily listened to the words that left tyrannosaur's lips her eyes widened slightly, "*gasp*..you...you mean you...?" Rex knew what she was trying to say and nodded his head, "yes my flower, as I told you, if I were to ever hurt you I would never be able to forgive myself." "And that's why you made the wish?" Lily questioned. Rex nodded his head, "yes..." he purred, letting go of her hand and caressing her cheek so tenderly. Lily leaned into his touch before placing her hand on his and kissing his palm. "When do you want to use it?" she asked. Rex thought it over for a moment or two before answering, "in the morning...while the others sleep. We'll be able to slip away without them knowing about this," he said glancing down at the bottle on the last part. "Ok Rex..." Lily nodded her head, "do you want me to keep it safe for you? We can keep it in the pocket on my satchel..." she suggested. "Yes I think it would be best," Rex answered. "Alright..." Lily gently took the small bottle from Rex, "I'll take it up there now.." she said giving him a quick kiss before heading to their room. Rex watched her briefly before returning to the other dinosaurs as they prepared for the day ahead.
While the dinosaurs visited with the children and their families, Lily set up in the wing where the dinosaurs were. She painted them during the visits of the families, creating a beautiful painting of the joy they brought to people. Afterward, she moved to another wing of the museum in order to paint some of the sea creatures that the museum had. Along with some of the exhibits that were set up, bringing them to life as if they were alive all over again. By day's end, Lily had creating five paintings and had them setting on the easels she had set up, to allow them to dry before hanging them up. She left her painting supplies in the painting wing, only bringing her satchel back with her, making sure to set it away from the dinosaurs' bedding, sitting on the table. During their downtime the dinosaurs half-dozed around the lava lamp heater, enjoying the warmth it provided and relaxing before dinner time.
Lily was leaning again Rex's shoulder, gently stroking his side and belly, making him almost purr in delight at the affection he was receiving from her. Elsa merely smiled at the scene beside her but deep down she was a bit jealous, upon meeting the young tyrannosaur she had openly flirted with him. Though they had a close friendship, that was all it was, "perhaps one day I will be as fortunate as Rex and Lily." Though she was jealous, she was also happy for them, knowing that out of all four of them, Rex was the one most in need of a companion and he had found that in Lily. Woog and Dweeb paid them little mind as neither of them had the desire to find a significant other in this world. They were happy to be carefree bachelors without any responsibility, living their best lives here at the museum and making friends with the people of the city they now called home.
After dinner, Rex and Lily went out on the patio Dr. Bleeb had fixed up some time ago, to allow the dinosaurs out in the warm sunshine if they desired. This evening Rex and Lily watched the sunset together, wrapped in each other's arms. It was a peaceful time of day, "it's such a beautiful sunset this evening," Lily commented absently. Rex flicked his tongue against Lily's cheek, "yes it is..." he said burying his nose into her hair. The pair reflected on how life had led them to each other and to this moment. Both felt extremely fortunate to have one another and knew they would never be alone again. Tomorrow would a big day for the both of them, because Rex intended to use the potion Neweyes had given to him. Both were excited and bit nervous as well, it would be the first time they would be out in public and be, by all appearances, a normal human couple. Lily intended to show Rex things she hadn't been able to before and he in turn would get to experience things he'd never imagine. The pair remained outside until the sun completely set over the horizon before going inside for the night. When they turned in for the night, Rex nuzzled Lily as he held in his arms, peppering her face and neck with soft kisses which she happily returned. She whispered I love you to him and he returned those same sweet words back to her, showering her in affection while she did the same to him. The pair easily slipped off to sleep wrapped in each other's arms, snuggled in the warmth. They knew when the sun rose in the morning, the day would be theirs and theirs alone, full of new and wonderful experiences.
When the early morning came, it found the pair already awake, with Rex looking down at the small bottle in his clawed-hand before glancing at the woman in his arms. "Are you ready?" she asked him. Rex was silent but nodded his head, Lily helped him open the bottle before he pressed it to his lips and drank the liquid inside. Once it was all gone he handed the bottle back to Lily, who placed the top back on and returned it to the hiding place in her satchel. Both wondered how long it would take before it took effect, however they didn't have to wait long for an answer. Lily placed a kiss on Rex's lips as he began to transform, his dinosaur body pulsated with every beat his heart made as a light surrounded him. She watched his reptile body disappear in a flash of bright, almost blinding, light only to see a human shape appear. A few moments passed before the light faded from his body and he came to rest on the bedding he always slept on. Lily remained at his side, taking in his new features. He was reasonably built with tanned skin, bright, almost orange hair covered the top of his head. Lily was surprised to see that the transformation came with clothes, much to her amusement, the t-shirt had a rex on the front of it with a pair of blue jeans and light colored sneakers. A moment or two passed before Rex began to wake up, "ow my head..." he muttered as he slowly sat up, placing a hand on his forehead as he did so. When he opened his eyes to look at the woman sitting beside him, she saw that he had the brightest green eyes she'd ever seen anyone have. Upon seeing the surprised look on her face Rex spoke, "Lily...what is it?" he asked, his voice sounding very hoarse. "You...you're human..." she whispered. Rex then looked down at his hands to see she was right and then inspected the rest of his new body, "wow...that potion really worked," he remarked, making sure to keep his voice down so as not to wake the others. Lily stood up then helped him to his feet, though a little unsteady, he held to Lily until he felt confident to move on his own. Now able to stand confidently he looked at Lily and smiled, "how do I look?" he asked, spreading his arms slightly. A light blush played on her cheeks as she spoke, "you look handsome..." she whispered, raising a hand to run her fingers through his shoulder-length hair. With her standing so close to him, she could see the features of his face better, he had a strong jawline with a small cleft in his chin. She took note of his slightly angled emerald eyes and were also subtly slitted, but no less bold. She embraced him warmly as he returned it, "I love you Rex, no matter what form you are in.." Lily whispered. Rex smiled into her hair, "I love you too Lily." When he pulled back, he caressed her cheek lovingly, "shall we?" he asked, offering his arm. She giggled, "of course..." she replied, picking up her satchel then looping her arm through his.
Once the pair were outside the sun had risen higher into the sky and bathed them both in it's warmth. "Such a beautiful morning," he purred. Lily nuzzled against his shoulder, "yes it is..." she sighed. "Where shall we go first?" Rex asked. Lily thought about it for a moment before answering, "why don't we go to this great little bistro I know. They have the best breakfast," she suggested. Rex merely nodded his head and allowed her to led him in the direction, still with her arm around his. They walked together in a way they never thought they would be able to but were too happy to question it. When they reached the little bistro Rex gave it a curious look, "I don't think I've ever been here before..." he said glancing at her. She giggled, "I didn't figure you had...besides they serve things like coffee, tea and breakfast-type foods here," Lily explained. The pair stood there for a moment looking at the poster of the menu, deciding what they wanted to eat. After a moment or two a young man came over to them, "good morning you two.." he greeted warmly. "Good morning," Lily replied with Rex merely nodding his head. "Just the two of you this morning?" the young man asked. "Yes sir," Lily answered. "Right this way..." the young led the couple over to a table with an umbrella, "here we are..." he said. Once the couple was seated the young man handed the pair each a menu, "do you know what you would like to drink this morning?" he question kindly. "I think I'd like tea this morning," Lily answered. "Very good Miss, and for you sir?" the young man asked. "I'll have the same," Rex replied. "Alright I'll give you two a minute to look over the menu while I go retrieve your drinks," the young man said. "Thank you," Lily replied as she scanned the menu along with Rex. After scanning the menu the pair decided to have the special and when the young man came back over with their drinks, "do we know what we'd like this morning?" he asked. "Yes..we'll both have the special..." Lily replied. "Oh very good, that is one of our best sellers here. I'll go put in your order and bring it out once it's ready," the young man said. "Thank you very much," Rex replied as the waiter walked away. With a moment to themselves Rex reached out his hands to Lily who placed them in his, "this is so nice..." he said, caressing her knuckle with a thumb. "Yes it is but you know what makes it better?" she asked. "What's that?" Rex asked, kissing her knuckles. "Being here with you..." she replied, giving him the warmest smile. Rex in turn smiled as he took a sip of the tea the waiter had brought out to them while Lily did the same. The couple had a beautiful view of the city where they were sitting and they were enjoying this moment. While they waited for their food, the couple talked about different things they would do after their meal. When their food was brought out to them, they thanked the waiter and began to enjoy their meal together. Rex was surprised that now he was in a human form, his appetite wasn't what it normally was. He figured that came with being in this new form and he wasn't complaining in the slightest. To their surprise gentle music began to play, a soothing tune that everyone there at the bistro enjoyed.
After the meal they paid and then left the bistro, "that was delicious..." Rex remarked with a satisfied smile. Lily let a soft laugh pass through her lips, "I'm happy that you enjoyed it." The pair then began to walk in the direction of the mall, a place they had discussed while waiting for their food, as Rex had never even heard of the place, let alone seen one. Walking hand in hand the pair passed by a few other couples on their way and upon reaching the mall, Rex's mouth hung open slightly, "wow...look at this place." Lily giggled at Rex's reaction, "yeah it is pretty impressive to someone who's never seen one before. I know I had the same feeling when I first came here," she explained. Rex nodded his head to let her know he had heard her, "let's check this place out then," he suggested with a couldn't hide her amusement in her Rex's enthumsiasm, "alright let's go.." she replied as they walked inside. The couple walked around, looking at the many stores before heading into one to check it out, "let's go in here..." Lily said motioning with her hand, Rex nodded and eagerly followed her into the store.
The store she had chosen was an outdoor store, filled with things to do with outdoors activities like hiking, fishing and boating, they even had a huge fish tank with fish in it. Rex was enthranced by all he saw, "wow..." was the only thing that came to mind as he and Lily walked around the store. The pair had no interest in purchasing anything from this store but enjoyed everything they were seeing. The one thing Rex noticed pretty quickly was that there were many full body mounts of different animals with their forest home built around them in beautiful displays. "This place makes me think of the museum in some ways," he commented at one point. Lily nodded in agreement, "it kinda does, especially with the displays and animals they have everywhere," she replied. They stood by the fish tank to watch the fish swim for a bit before moving on to another store. The next one they went into was an asian store, in here were many oriental statues made of jade and quartz. There was also pots with bamboo planted in them and even a few swords hung on the wall. Rex was most intrigued to see statues and pictures of dragons, "they look so cool..." he remarked. Lily nodded her head, "yes they are...they believe dragons to be sacred beings with the power of the elements and magic." Making their way further back into the store they came to a counter with many pieces of jewelry and pendants. Lily looked them over briefly, along with Rex, "these are handcrafted," Lily stated to which Rex nodded, to let her know he had heard her. When Lily moved on to look at other things Rex remained there for a moment or two, looking over the pendants in the case. It was then that a middle-aged woman came over to the counter, "can I help you find something young man?" she asked kindly. Rex was a bit startled at her sudden appearance but responded to her question, "no ma'am..I was just looking." "Well if you see something that catches your eye let me and we'll see what kind of deal we can strike," she replied. Rex merely nodded to acknowledge the woman's words as he went back to looking at pendants in the case. As he scanned over the pendants something caught his attention, "look at that..." he whispered. What he had seen was a beautiful jade pendant in the form of a sakura blossom, "that would look lovely on my Lily.." he said to himself. A soft sigh passed through his lips, "if only I had money to get it for her, I would..." he replied placing his hand in his pocket. However upon doing so was surprised to find a bit of money in the pocket, he kept the surprise off his face before getting the woman's attention, "um Miss.." he said. "Yes sir..has something caught your eye this time?" she asked sweetly. Rex nodded his head, "that jade pendant, the one that looks like a sakura blossom." "Oh I see..." the woman reached under the counter and brought it out for Rex to take a closer look at, "it's beautiful," she stated. "Yes it is...how much?" he inquired. The woman was silent for a moment before relaying the information to the 'young man'. Upon hearing the amount Rex nodded his head, "I'll take it.." he replied. The woman smiled, "alright I'll wrap this up for you and be right back." "Thank you ma'am..." he replied.
Lily meanwhile was looking at the clothes hanging on a rack towards the back of the store, along with the small statues and dreamcatchers as well. She had no idea that Rex had picked out something for her but she was enjoying this time with him none the less.
The woman came back over a few moments later with the necklace in a beautiful box and upon returning, Rex paid for the necklace and tucked it into his pocket before rejoining Lily. When she saw him approaching she smiled at him, "you ready to check out another store?" she asked. "Yes..." he replied with a smile. When the pair exited the two women inside waved to them and the couple waved in return before walking away.
"I liked that place," Rex commented. Lily nodded, "I do too...they have so many pretty things in there." The couple walked towards the fountain at the mall's center to sit for a moment. Silence passed between them briefly before either of them spoke, "what do we want to check out next?" Lily asked. Rex was quiet for a moment before answering but before he could, music began to play, "where is that coming from?" he asked. Lily glanced around as well, "I don't know..." she answered. "Let's go see," Rex said taking her by the hand and standing up. The pair followed the sound of the music and quickly found a band playing some soft sounding music and noticed a couple dancing to it. It was then that an idea appeared in the dinosaur-man's mind, "my Lily.." she turned to see him looking at her with love, "would you care to dance with me?" he asked. A light blush played on her cheeks, "I'd love to..." she replied as Rex led her over to a spot near the small stage. He placed one hand on her back and held her hand with the other before they began moving to the melody of the music. Lily was somewhat surprised that Rex knew how to dance so gracefully, "I never knew you could dance..." she commented. He let a soft chuckle rattle from his throat, "there is much you don't know about me my lovely Lily..." he purred, pressing his lips to hers briefly.
When the song ended the couple walked away from the stage and made their way around the mall, looking at the other stores there were. After taking in the mall, the pair left from there and headed towards the aquarium, much to Rex's delight. Though he couldn't swim, he loved the ocean, as it's beauty always captivated him. Walking through the halls, they took in all they saw, the many fish in each tank they came to, the corals and rocky outcroppings where fish like to hide. The next tank they came to had sharks swimming around with several other fish as well, "cool..." Rex said as he watched a sand tiger shark swim around the tank. Lily smiled as she was enjoying this time with Rex, "I love coming here..." she remarked. "I can see why.." Rex replied, pressing a kiss into her next room held the mighty megalodon, "whoa..." was Lily's response. "Yeah...the few times I went down to the shoreline back then, I caught a glimpse of him," Rex commented quietly. Lily's eyes widened slightly upon hearing this, "that's pretty cool," she said. Rex only smiled at her as they made their way to the tunnel that ran beneath a tank, "it feels we're under water with them," he said. They watched a grey reef shark swim overhead along with a leopard shark and a few wayward fish before coming to the end of the tunnel. After completing their walk through the aquarium both Rex and Lily sat on bench just outside the doors of the aquarium, "I enjoyed that..." Lily said. "Me too..." was Rex's response as he wrapped an arm around the young woman's shoulders, drawing her in close. She rested her head on his shoulder, nuzzling her cheek against it affectionately.
For several comfortable moments the couple remained on the bench before deciding to walk on the boardwalk that ran alongside the bay. A gentle breeze blew around them, making Lily's golden locks swirl around her face, captivating the rex in human form even more. The way the sunlight reflected off her hair, made it appear as though she wore a halo upon her head, "beautiful..." he purred. She smiled at him then planted her lips onto his, his arms immediately went around her waist, holding her close to his body. When they let go of the kiss Rex caressed Lily's cheek lovingly, "I love you so much Lily." "I love you too Rex," Lily murmured. A moment passed before the couple began to walk along the boardwalk, taking in the view of the shoreline as the waves crashed on the sand. While on the boardwalk, they grabbed a hotdog from a vender and sat on a nearby bench to eat. The sound of surf was peaceful in their ears, relaxing them in a way they hadn't felt before, "this has been a very good day," Lily remarked. "And it's not over yet," Rex added with a smile. After finishing their lunch they walked on the shore, feeling the sand between their toes. Lily had her sneakers in one hand and Rex's hand in the other as they walked along the shore. They came to a stop and sat upon the sand, enjoying the beautiful view in front of them, Lily had her head resting on his shoulder with his arm around her waist. The breeze felt good against their skin and the smell of the salty sea air filled their senses. Rex felt so contented being here with Lily like this and then remembered the surprise in his pocket, "I have something for you Lily." Upon hearing this Lily raised up and looked at him curiously, "what is it?" she asked. He smiled, "close your eyes..." "Ok.." she replied. Rex reached into his pocket and retrieved the box, "hold out your hand my love." She did as he asked her and felt him place the item in her hands, "open your eyes..." he murmured. When she open her emerald eyes she saw a small box, "what is it?" she asked. "Open it and see.." Rex suggested sweetly. Lily opened the box to reveal the beautiful jade sakura blossom pendant, "oh Rex...this is beautiful..." she said. He smiled at her, "I thought of you when I saw this.." he whispered. Lily picked up the pendant, to examine it closely. "Where did you get this?" she asked. "At that little asian store in the mall," he answered, "here let me put it on you." He gently picked up the necklace from her hands, "move your hair," he said kindly. Lily held her hair out the way to allow Rex to place the necklace around her neck, "there we go..." he smiled at her, "lovely.." he purred. She smiled, "thank you so much Rex, I love it.." she pressed her lips to his and he returned it. He held her in his arms, pressing his body against hers slightly. He rested his forehead against hers when they broke off the kiss, "you're welcome Lily." She hummed approvingly and nuzzled her nose against his before pressing another kiss to his lips.
A moment passed before either of them spoke, "so..." Rex kissed Lily's neck, "how shall we end this day?" he asked, purring into her ear. Lily shivered in delight, "hmm how indeed," she said, leaning her head to the side slightly to give Rex more access. "Is there somewhere we can go?" Rex asked between kisses. Lily giggled, "yes...I actually have a house down here at the beach, we can go there." Upon hearing this Rex raised his head up enough to look into her shimmering green jewels with his own sparkling ones, "I never knew you had a beachhouse?" he replied. "I hadn't thought about that place in a long time, it's been even longer since I've been there," Lily admitted. Rex smiled at her, "then shall we?" he asked. She laughed, "of course..." she answered, looping her arm through his and directed him in the direction of the beachhouse.
When they reached it, Rex was surprised at how lovely it was, "you really have a nice place here Lily," he remarked. "Thank you Rex," she said unlocking the door and entering with him following right behind her. Now standing inside the beachhouse, Rex took in all he saw, there were a few paintings hanging on the walls here and there. A plant or two sitting on the tables, obviously artifical as they weren't wilted at all. The colors he saw were very calming, shades of blue, green and beige lingered in each room, "I really like it..." he commented. She smiled at him as she placed her satchel down on a little side table near the couch, "yeah I do too...I don't come here as much as I'd like though." "How come?" Rex asked. "Because my apartment is much closer to the museum where most of my art is but more important than that..." she paused as her looked in his, "it's closer to you," she said with a smile. "Lily..." he murmured as he captured her lips with his. As she returned the kiss, she sank down onto the sofa, bringing Rex with her. They kissed tenderly for a few moments but it quickly gave way to ones that were more passionate and heated. When they broke off the kiss, both were panting slightly with blushes on their cheeks. Rex caressed Lily's cheek with a calloused hand, "so beautiful..." he purred. Lily's eyes darted between Rex's vibrant green gems to his lips which didn't go unnoticed and he gave Lily a very playful look. She smiled at him before pressing her lips against his again, pressing her body against his as she did so. He responded to her by wrapping his arms around her slender form, holding her close to his body as his hands began to roam her body. She rubbed her leg against his and moaning into the kiss. At feeling Lily's passion, Rex's body began to feel hot and his heart raced in his chest. This time however, there was nothing to prevent them from exploring each other the way they wished to. When he raised up slightly to look into her eyes, he saw how hers shimmered with something he had seen the other night, "are you sure?" he panted. She merely nodded, "yes I am.." she whispered, capturing his lips again. Still with his lips locked with hers, Rex raised up, picked her up into his arms and made his way upstairs.
When they reached the room he placed Lily on her feet briefly, he slipped out of his shoes with her doing the same thing. She took him by the hand and led him over to the bed, pulling down to sit on the edge of the bed with her. They became liplocked again before leaning back onto the bed, pressing their bodies together just enough to let the other know, they wanted this too. Letting go of the kiss for the briefest of moments, Lily stood up, "give me a moment," she said giving Rex a quick kiss before disappearing from sight. Rex watched after her curiously but remained in the room to wait for Lily to come back. In the meantime he had a moment to think, to try and wrap his mind around what was about to happen between them. "This is really gonna happen..." he glanced in the direction she went, "we have the evening and tonight..." he looked down at his hand, "and then I'll be a tyrannosaur again." He found a smile on his lips, "I have no regrets..." he said to himself as Lily appeared before him once more but this time clad in a red lace outfit. His eyes widened slightly at seeing her so skimply dressed but he couldn't stop his eyes from roaming over her every curve. "Like what you see big guy?" she asked with a sultry smile on her lips. A playful smirk appeared on his face, "indeed I do..." he stood up and moved towards her, "you look quite tempting..." he purred, lowering his mouth to hers before trailing them down her neck to her ear, "trying to get a rise out of me?" he murmured into her ear. Lily leaned her head to the side, giving him more access, "mmmh maybe I am..." she replied coyly. Rex knew this and continued to smother her neck in kisses and light nips before coming back up to capture her lips again. He then lifted her into his arms and carried her over to the bed and lay her down. He move to lay next to her before trailing one of his hands down her slender form, caressing every curve of her body. A blush played across her cheeks with a soft smile on her lips, "I love you..." she whispered. "I love you too my beautiful flower," Rex murmured as he pressed his lips to hers again. He rolled with her to where she was pinned beneath him, he trailed kisses down her neck again stopping only when he reached the lace covering her chest. He glanced up at her briefly and only when he received a nod, did he continue. He slipped his hands beneath the lace until he cupped her soft mounds in his calloused palms. Feeling the softness beneath his fingertips, Rex nuzzled his nose in the valley between her breasts. Her hands came up to cup his hands that held to them before reaching for his face, guiding him up to capture his lips again. He moaned into the kiss, running his hands down to her waist before grinding his hips against hers, giving her a feel of what lay beneath the fabric of his jeans. Pausing only briefly Lily placed a gentle hand on Rex's chest, silently asking him to back up. He quickly complied and watched as her hands went to the belt that held his jeans to his hips, undoing the buckle then the button and zipper. With the release of confines of the jeans, Rex sighed, his head tilting back slightly while Lily began to slide them from his hips, pooling them at his ankles. Rex stepped out of them then moved towards Lily again, placing his hands on the small of her back, caressing her curves as he did so. Lily scooted back until she rested against the pillows, then lay beneath Rex as he dove down to kiss her again. With their lips melted together Lily's leg came up to rub seductively against his before reaching up and tangling her fingers in his shoulder-length hair. Rex raised up enough to meet her emerald gems with his own, "you're so beautiful..." he purred. "You're so handsome..." she breathed.
Taking only a moment to exchange hungry glances with one another, Rex then moved to the clasp that held on the bits of lace she was wearing. Upon undoing it, revealed the soft mounds beneath to the rex in human form's eyes. For a moment Rex couldn't breathe as he took in the sight before his eyes. Lily could see the look on her dinosaur-man's face, "enjoying the view my love?" she asked in a sultry tone. A light blush on his cheeks told her that he did, he hesitantly reached his hand down to feel the softness of her skin. Feeling his gentle touch Lily sighed contently but remained still to allow Rex to explore her body before they continued their encounter. She knew this was a new experience for him and was being very patient with him. Silent encounraging him to continue with what he was feeling, "it's alright Rex..." she whispered, "just take it slow." He merely nodded his head as he lowered his mouth down to kiss her neck before trailing down to her chest, nuzzling the valley between her breasts. Then slipping his tongue from his mouth, he licked a stripe between her breasts before twirling his tongue around her nipple and flicking it gently. Lily whimpered slightly at the sensation he was creating, reaching a hand down to caress the side of his face, encouraging him silently to continue. Rex, now feeling a bit more confident, moved to the other breast and twirled his tongue around her other nipple while his free hand came up to cup her breasts gently. Lily knew he was starting to feel more comfortable in this encounter and it pleased her, "that feels so good..." she praised. Rex hummed against her soft skin as his tongue played with her nipple before he trailed it down her body, dipping his tongue into her bellybutton. She giggled as the feeling of his tongue in her bellybutton tickled slightly. Rex smiled against her belly before moving lower to the lace barrier that remained around her hips. He glanced at her again and received a nod, giving him permission to continue his exploration of her body. Raising her hips slightly as his hands went to the lace and gently pulled them down her long legs before tossing it aside somewhere. No completely bare before him, her blush brightened slightly which made a soft chuckle rattled from Rex's throat. She reached her hand towards his undergarments, he moved closer to allow her to remove it and toss it aside.
By now the sun was setting, casting a beautiful orange glow into the room onto the lovers. With nothing between them to stop them now Rex captured her lips again with his, holding her close to him and pressing his body against hers. She could feel his already hardened member brush against her thigh, her hands roam down his chest until her fingertips found it. Her soft touch on his sensitive flesh made a purr-like groan escape his mouth and made him pant while his heart raced in his chest. She guided him towards her entrance carefully and upon doing so, noticed his nervous gaze, "it's ok Rex, I'm nervous too..." she reassured. A soft smile played on his lips, "I'll be gentle..." he whispered, nuzzling his nose against her cheek and neck. "I know you will..." she had Lily completely pinned beneath him, his member was just in front of her entrance, even in his human form, he could smell her arousal, "she's intoxicating.." was the only thought in his mind. He carefully placed himself against her entrance before slowly easing inside. Lily caressed his chest and neck, to soothe any nervousness the humanoid-rex felt. Once he began to feel her heated core on the head of his member, he panted slightly as his body ran hot. Lily whimpered and moaned as he continued to enter her until he was completely buried inside her warmth. He remained still for a moment or two to give them a minute before continuing this encounter. Lily wiggled a bit, letting Rex know he could move, "it's alright Rex...you won't hurt me..I promise.." she soothed. He smiled down at her, "you're being so patient with me..." he whispered. "Of course, I know this is something new for you...it is for me too," she admitted. Hearing this seem to help relax Rex as he allowed his instincts to guide him through this encounter with Lily. He began to thrust into her carefully at first until he became more comfortable with the movement and then captured her lips again. His hands immediately went to her waist as he thrusted into her tight warmth, "you feel so good..." he said between kisses. Lily could only moan against his mouth, her hands come up to scratch at the nape of his neck and shoulders. This gesture seemed to fuel Rex further, feeling more confident he picked up the pace slightly, moving with more passion and giving Lily all the love he had for her. Lily could feel it and gave her love right back to Rex, wrapping her legs around his waist, forcing his length completely into her smoldering core, a groan left Rex's lips as he continued to move with smooth, well-aimed movements. The love they felt for one another only seem to intensify this moment they were experiencing together. A soft moan left Lily's lips as did the tyrannosaur's name, "Rex...Rex...oh yes..." she panted out. Rex fueled by her reactions delved into her with more passion, panting and groaning as did so, "Lily...Lily..." came his panted response. Their steady rhythm soon gave way to one that was quickly becoming a bit more frantic, "Lily...I'm..." "I know Rex...I know..." Lily responded. Their hearts were racing in their chests, Rex felt his body shudder slightly as his length swelled within her heated core. Lily felt this too and held to Rex in a passionate hold as she felt herself clench tightly around him, "Rex...*pant* *pant*...Rex..." she moaned out. With three passionate thrusts Rex felt a surge of emotion and a tingling he'd never felt, his length twitched as his seed came spilling out of it's opening with a satisfied groan escaping his lips. Lily moaned as she held Rex where he was as her release came immediately after his. The pair were panting heavily from their exertions, their hearts still pounded in their chests but they were both happy. Rex lay his head on Lily's chest while her arms came to wrap around him, holding him tenderly.
With trembling arms Rex raised up just enough to kiss Lily once more before disconnecting and moving to lay beside her. Both still panted slightly as Rex brought up an arm to wrap around Lily's slender form, holding her snugly against his body. She rested her head on his sculpted chest, nuzzling her nose against the taught muscles beneath his sweaty skin. Rex felt very much content with Lily laying against his body in such an intimate way, he glanced down at her before pressing a kiss to her forehead with her sighing contently. "That was wonderful..." she murmured. He hummed deep in his chest in agreement, "yes it was..." he agreed with a soft sigh. The pair remained in the tender hold as their breath returned to normal and once it had Rex turned slightly to lay on his side so he could look right into Lily's emerald gaze, "Lily?" "Yes Rex.." she purred. He interlocked his fingers with hers as he spoke, "are you alright? I didn't hurt you did I?" he asked. She smiled warmly at him, "I'm alright my sweet one, you didn't hurt me," she reassured. A soft sigh escaped his lips as he spoke, "I'm glad..." he caressed her cheek as he continued, "I love you...with all my heart Lily. This day with you has been perfect, I couldn't asked for better." Lily nodded her head to let him know she had heard him, "being able to be with you in a way I never thought possible has made me so happy. In spending this day with you has made me realize something..." he trailed off. "What is it my love?" she asked sweetly. He took a breath and let it out slowly, "it made me realize that I want to be with you always. I know human men have other words they use but..." he paused briefly to gauge her reaction. He could see how her eyes shimmered and he knew she understood what he was trying to ask her, "in the time I came from we use the term mate. So...Lily..." "Yes...Rex..." she whispered. "Will you become my mate?" he asked. A soft gasp escaped her lips as she nodded her head, "yes I will..." she murmured, pressing her lips to his happily. He returned it eagerly and held her in his arms, showering her in affection. They remained in each other's arms until Lily spoke, "I think I'm gonna get a shower..." she turned her emeralds to gaze into his, "do you want to join me?" she asked, batting her eyelashes at him. A playful smirk appeared on Rex's face, "of course I would," he purred, kissing her knuckles. She laughed as she stood up and walked towards the bathroom with Rex right behind her.
Once in the bathroom Lily moved towards the tub, pulling back the shower curtain, she turned on the water to get it the right temperature before either of them stepped under it. Rex waited patiently, taking in the contents of the bathroom, noting the colors and designs that were pleasing to the eye. "Alright the water feels perfect..." Lily stated, gaining Rex's attention. He smiled at her as she moved the shower curtain and stepped into the tub, bringing Rex with her. Though it was a new experience of him, Rex found that he didn't dislike the idea of a shower, in fact it felt rather good against his back and shoulders. Lily could see how relaxed Rex was being in here with her and feeling the hot water on his body, "first time you've ever felt that isn't it?" she asked with a knowing smile. "Yes it is.." he sighed. A soft laugh left her lips, "here turn around and I'll scrub your back for you..." she suggested kindly. Rex did as she asked and soon he felt her rubbing his back with the washrag, taking away dirt, dust and dry skin. He found himself purring contently, which only made Lily giggle, "you sound like a big cat." "It feels so good..." he replied with a smile. Once his back had been scrubbed clean, Lily turned around so he could do the same for her. He was more than happy to love on her this way and ran the washrag over her back and shoulders, massaging and caressing her tenderly as he did so. With their backs clean they washed the rest of themselves before Lily turned off the water and stepped grabbed a towel to dry herself then passed it to Rex, "I'll grab me some clothes while you're getting dried off." "Alright baby..." he murmured. A light blush played on her cheeks as she disappeared from the human-rex's view.
After drying himself off he stepped into the bedroom to pick up his clothes and get redressed. He noticed that Lily had already got herself redressed, wearing a pair of light colored sweatpants and t-shirt. To his delight he saw that she still wore the jade sakura pendant around her neck. Rex pulled back on his undergarments, then his jeans but before pulling on his shirt, he noticed Lily was looking at him curiously, "what is it my love?" he asked. She remained silent as she came over to place a gentle hand on his chest, "you have a scar..." she whispered. Rex glanced down to see she was right and looked away slightly, "it's nothing really.." he said. Lily noticed the change in his demeanor as she lightly traced the scar on his pectoral, "is it from a fight?" she asked curiously. Rex let a half-smirk play on his lips, "you could say that.." he replied. Lily let her hand fall from the scar to allow Rex to pull on his t-shirt. She sat on the bed and watched him silently, "I wonder if it was a fight over a female back then or territory." She figured it was the latter as she remembered what he had told her the other night so she knew it wasn't the other. Once he had his shirt back on he came to sit next to Lily and wrap an arm around her, nuzzling his nose into her hair and kissing her temple. She hummed approvingly and kissed his neck then his chest, "I love you Rex." "I love you too Lily..." he replied in almost a whisper. "So...do you want to go back to the museum or do you want to stay here tonight?" she asked. Rex was silent as he considered what his answer would be. He glanced around the room briefly and noted that it wasn't a very large room, he knew when he woke up in the morning he'd be a tyrannosaur once more. "I think it would be a good idea...to head back to the museum. Neweyes told me that the potion only lasts for single twenty-four hour period. As much as I want to stay here tonight, I don't want to destroy anything in your home when I turn back into a dinosaur again," Rex explained. Lily nodded her head in understanding, she knew how careful and respectful Rex always was no matter what he did. It was one of his endearing qualities, "I understand my love..." she said pressing a kiss to his cheek. He smiled at her, "thanks baby..." he murmured. Lily then stood up and gathered a few things to take back with her, "do you think you'll ever come back here to stay?" Rex asked while she did this. She paused in her movements to answer, "I'd like to but as I said, the apartment I stay in is closer to everything else. But perhaps...one day I will come back here..." she said with a smile. Rex nodded his head to let her know he had heard her and once she was ready he stood up and lifted her pack onto his shoulder. She picked up her satchel and the pair made their way downstairs, passing through the living room and standing at the front door. Lily glanced around the place once more before opening the door and stepping outside with Rex at her side. The young woman locked the door behind them before they began making their way back towards the museum hand in hand.
By now the stars were shining brightly in the sky along with a beautiful moon, bathing the pair in it's light. Lily rested her head on Rex's shoulder, enjoying the warmth he gave off, "today has been the perfect day.." she sighed. Rex nodded, "yes it has," he replied with a smile on his lips. The pair walked along the path and then came to the sidewalk alongside the main road, "I'm surprised that we haven't seen anyone else since we left the beachhouse," Rex commented. "Yeah it is a little odd," Lily remarked as they continued onward. They had just about reached the museum when the sound of sirens filled the night air, startling them both, "I wonder what's going on?" Rex said. Lily shook her head, "probably just a wreck, they're pretty common down at the intersection," she replied.
When the pair reached the doors of the museum they quietly slipped inside, making sure to close and fasten the doors behind them. They walked through the wings that led back to the room where the other dinosaurs were already sleeping, "it appears they're pretty worn out," Rex stated quietly. "Must've been a long day for them," Lily added. Rex nodded his head as he placed Lily's pack next to his bedding, "well...we should probably try and get some sleep," Rex said, stretching his body and yawning. "Yeah I suppose we should..." Lily clutched her pendant in her hands, "when you wake up in the morning...you'll be a tyrannosaur again." Rex noted the sad tone to her words, he turned to look at her and noticed the way she clung to her pendant he had given her. He reached out a gentle hand, placing it beneath her chin and making her bright green gems look into his, "what is it Lily?" he asked. A soft sigh passed through her lips, "it's nothing my love.." she moved to embrace him, "I love you Rex." "I love you too Lily..." he replied, nuzzling his nose into her hair. When they let go of each other they lay down on the bedding together, with Rex holding Lily snugly against his body. She felt so comfortable in his arms, "sweet dreams.." she whispered as a yawn left her lips. "Sweet dreams my beauty.." he murmured as he slipped off to sleep with her following suit.
It was about midnight when Lily was jolted out of her slumber, having been disturbed by a bad dream. She glanced beside her to see Rex still asleep, still in his human form. She let a soft sigh pass through her lips, "he sleeps so soundly..." she murmured, brushing a stray piece of hair from his face. She leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on his cheek, "I don't know what I would ever do without you Rex," her heart whispered. When she pulled back she saw him smile in his sleep, though it made her smile to see him resting so peacefully, she couldn't help but feel a bit of sadness weighing on her. She knew that the effects of the potion he'd been given would wear off once the sun rose into the sky. Part of her deeply wished for him to remain as he was and yet part of her didn't. She felt so confused by her thoughts and wondered if perhaps she should talk to someone about it. But as she did she thought who would she even speak to about it? It's not that she didn't love Rex for who he was on the inside, despite him being a tyrannosaur. She turned her attention to her pack she had brought with her, she moved to lift the flap of her pack in order to retrieve her journal. She thought maybe writing things down would help her mind settle down a , she stood up and made her over to the nearby sofa to sit and write in her journal. Fortunately there was a candle sitting on the sidetable so she was able to see enough to be able to write in her journal.
"Well...here I am...with so much on my mind and no way to sort any of it out. My thoughts linger on the day I spent with Rex, a human Rex. After everything we shared today, I can't help but wonder what a life with him would be like? I know I fell in love with him while he was still in his tyrannosaur form but I just...part of me wants him remain human but the other part of me feels bad for even thinking about that. I know he has his friends and the things he does here at the museum...I don't know, I'm just so confused. I kinda want to talk to him about it but I'm afraid that if I do, then he'll become angry with me. He might feel like that perhaps...I might not want to be with him anymore because he's no longer in a human form. If only there was a way that he could...no...no...I need to stop overthinking this, Rex is still Rex no matter what form he's in. I still love him with all my heart and no matter what we'll always have each other. We are mates now, despite not knowing what all that entails, I know life with him will be an adventure."
Upon finishing her entry a yawn passed through her lips and being too tired to move from where she was, she closed her journal, placed it on the sidetable and curled up on the sofa. She stole one more glance at her Rex before slipping off to sleep once more.
When the sun rose in the morning and sunlight came through the window it found the Rex beginning to awaken from his slumber. What surprised him was that he was still a human, at least for the moment, he then noticed that he was alone on his bedding. "Wonder where she...?" he turned his green eyes to see his beloved sleeping on the sofa. He tilted his head curiously, "now why would she be over there?" he wondered as he stood up and made his way over to her. Upon doing so, he saw her journal on the sidetable but only gave it glance before looking down at the sleeping woman in front of him. He knelt down beside the sofa and brushed a stray piece of hair from her face. A smile played on his lips at the memories that still lingered in his mind from the day before. He could barely believe that not only did he have Lily in his life but she had said yes to his proposal, "she really does love me..." he sighed as he caressed her cheek lovingly. He then picked up the blanket off the back of the sofa and placed it over her to ensure she stayed warm, "there you go my angel.." he murmured, pressing a kiss into her hair. Rex then picked up her journal and placed it back into her pack so the others wouldn't get curious and invade her privacy. Once her journal was back in it's hiding place he came to sit beside the sofa. He knew full well that the effects of the potion would wear off soon enough anyway. However as he sat there, part of him didn't want to change back into a dinosaur. The truth of the matter was that he had enjoyed truly being a part of Lily's world and he knew once he turned back that things would go back to the way they'd been before. Despite them being mates now he began to question whether or not he really wanted to leave the human world behind. On the other side of the coin though he imagined that if he did decide to remain a human, then his friends would feel betrayed or at the very least, they'd be angry with him. He rested his head on the edge of the armrest where Lily had her head as a frustrated sigh passed through his lips.
It wasn't long before Rex began to feel strange and he knew the effect of the potion was wearing off, his time as a human was over. A bright light surrounded his body as his body pulsated with every beat his heart made and the light surrounded him. In a flash his human body disappeared and his dinosaur body returned, his body grew larger and became covered in orange scales once more. His claws appeared on his hands that now held two fingers and a thumb, his sharp teeth appeared in his mouth. The only thing that seem to remain were his bright eyes irises that now surrounded his black pupils, though he was unaware of that yet. When the light faded to nothing he was once more a tyrannosaur, he looked down at his body as a sigh passed through his lips. He moved to look at his reflection in the window but when he did, he noticed his eyes had remained, they widened slightly as he looked at them. "I guess...this is the gift it gave me..." he whispered before turning to look at his mate, "then again..." he made his way carefully back over to Lily's side and lay down, "the best gift I've ever been given is her." A smile played on his lips as he continued to lay there beside her while she and the other dinosaurs slept.
When the others began to rouse from sleep they were surprised to see Rex already awake, "*yawn*...Rex?" Elsa said. He glanced in her direction, "morning Elsa.." he greeted. "Have you been up all night?" she questioned. Rex merely shook his head no, "where were you yesterday? We missed you..." she added. "Oh I just...me and Lily wanted a day to ourselves is all," he replied. It wasn't exactly a lie but it wasn't the whole truth either, however Rex had promised that his transformation would only be kept between him and Lily and he intended to keep it. "Oh well if that's all it was you could've told us. We were a bit worried when we couldn't find either of you yesterday," Elsa replied. "We didn't mean to worry you guys," was Rex's only reply. "Well you two are here now and you're both alright, that's all that matters..." the female answered. Rex merely smiled, "are you coming to breakfast with us?" Woog asked. Rex looked at them for a moment before looking back at Lily, "once she wakes up we'll come down," he answered. "Alright Rex," Dweeb said as he, Woog and Elsa walked from the room. Rex released the sigh he had been unknowingly holding, "at least they won't mad that we won't here yesterday.." he said to himself. He remained bedded up next to the sofa, partially curling his body around it in a protective manner, keeping watch over Lily.
A short time after the other dinosaurs went downstairs to breakfast, Lily started to wake up and upon doing so saw that Rex had indeed reverted back to his dinosaur form. She also noted when she raised up that she was underneath a blanket, "he's always so thoughtful...making sure I'm warm.." she turned her eyes to him, to see him half-dozing beside her. She then noticed her journal wasn't where she left it, she quietly got up and went to her pack and found it back in the pocket. A soft sigh passed through her lips, "he must've placed this back in here for me to prevent the others from looking at it." She once more turned to look at the tyrannosaur and smiled, "you are truly a treasure my love.." her heart whispered as she stood up and came back to sit on the sofa and pulling the blanket back around her shoulders. It was a bit chiller than normal and she couldn't help but notice, "I might get by the heater so I can get warm," but then she glanced at her Rex, "he needs get by it too, it's not good for him to get cold." She slipped into the floor next to him and pressed a kiss to his muzzle, "come dearest...time to wake up..." she whispered. Upon hearing her soft voice Rex began to rouse from his half-dozing state, "hmm...Lily.." he said, his voice slurred with sleep. She caressed his cheek, pressing kisses as she did so, "come my Rex, we must get you back by the heater..you don't need to get cold." Hearing her speak so sweetly to him made his eyes begin to flutter open and once they were Lily noticed their color, "your eyes.." she purred. He gave her a sleepy smile, "yes I noticed them earlier after I had transformed back," he replied raising his head just enough to nuzzle Lily tenderly. She giggled when she felt his tongue slip from his mouth and flick against her cheek, "playful one..." she said. He chuckled as he stood up and came back over to the heater with Lily following suit, "it is a bit chilly this morning..." Rex stated, huddling close to the heater and curling around Lily at the same time. "Yeah it is, it can only mean that winter is approaching fast this year," Lily said. Rex nodded his head, "that's not good, especially on us..." Lily looked into his emerald gaze, "being cold blooded it's not good for us to get cold. Even though we're not in any real danger here, we still can't let ourselves become vulnerable." Lily placed her hand on his claw, "I will always protect you Rex, just like you protect me." He smiled at her words and nuzzled her lovingly before laying his head down beside her, enjoying the warmth of the lava lamp heater.
A few minutes later Elsa, Woog and Dweeb had returned to see why Rex and Lily hadn't come downstairs, "hey Rex..." Woog called. "Rex we brought up some hotdogs..." Dweeb added. "Yes we decided to bring them up here, it is a bit chilly down there," Elsa remarked. Lily turned her head to see the three approaching, "yes there is a chill in the air today. Guess that means fall has arrived," she said as Elsa came to sit at her side with Woog and Dweeb sitting across from Rex. "I know the warmth from this heater feels wonderful," Elsa let a soft sigh passed through her beak, "reminds me of home." Dweeb and Woog both nodded their heads in agreement, "it does kinda..." Woog said taking a bite out a hotdog before offering the plate to Rex and Lily. As the young woman reached for the plate she was surprised when she felt Rex draw her in close with his tail, tucking her protectively against his side as a soft growl erupted from his throat. Upon hearing this the three other dinosaurs looked at the rex curiously, "Rex.." Elsa said, astonished. "Hey man what's with you?" Woog asked. "I was offering you and your lady some food." Dweeb's eyes darted between the tric and rex, "what is going on Elsa?" he asked, turning to the pterodactyl. "I am not sure Dweeb..." the female turned her eyes back to the tyrannosaur, "but I'm almost afraid to ask.." she admitted. It was then that Lily spoke, "Rex..." when she placed a gentle hand on his muzzle, he jolted slightly as his eyes darted in her direction, "what's wrong?" she asked. A moment passed before Rex blinked a few times before raising his head and shaking it slightly, "I...don't know..." he whispered. Silence hung in the room around them before anyone made a move or spoke, "is it just the cold getting to you Rex?" Woog asked. Rex, now very unsure himself merely glanced in his friends' direction, "yeah...yeah I guess so." "Hey don't sweat it, the cold get to us all at some point..." Woog reassured as he attempted to pass the plate to the couple a second time. This time Rex remained composed and calm as he and Lily each took a hotdog and began to chow down on them.
Time seem to pass peacefully for the group of dinosaurs and the young woman leaning against Rex's shoulder. The slight incident seem to be forgotten all together, much to the relief of the tyrannosaur. He didn't know what had come over him before, he knew that he and Lily would most likely talk about it later on.
After breakfast the dinosaurs remained bedded around the lava lamp heater as the wings were becoming chilled. Dr. Bleeb, with Louie and Cecilia's help, set up small versions of the lava lamp heater in the wings where the dinosaurs would be. They wanted to ensure that they'd be warm and comfortable throughout their day. They allowed the heaters to sit for a bit to get the rooms warm before getting on with the day. Once they had Rex, Elsa, Woog and Dweeb went to their display to get ready for the visitors to arrive. Lily remained in the wing with them for a short while before going to her easel to work on her artwork while the dinosaurs visited with the children and their families. However before leaving the room Lily gave Rex so much affection, kissing and nuzzling him while he returned the gestures and kisses. When it became time for the visitors to arrive Lily made her way to the art wing but promised to spend time with him later. He smiled at her before she walked out of the room.
The day was same as usual for the dinosaurs when the children arrived with their families. Laughing and playing, making everyone that came through the doors happy. Most of the children that came through the doors on this day were aiming to see Rex, wanting to get up close and personal with him. Elsa gave many of the girls rides along with Woog, while Dweeb told stories and made each child and adult smile by showing them kindness. Today Rex even offered a few of the children rides on his back as well, especially if he felt they needed a bit of cheering up. He had the biggest heart of all the dinosaurs, which was why he was so popular with families. As the day wore on the high energy of some of the children was beginning to tire the dinosaurs, "man...they have more energy than they know what to with," Woog muttered. "Yes they do, believe me I love the children but still...I do enjoy when we have days off," Elsa concurred. Even Dweeb agreed with what Woog and Elsa were saying, "me too..." he turned to Rex, "what about you Rex?" he asked, making the tric and pterodactyl look in his direction. Rex let a yawn pass through his lips, "yeah...*yawn*...me too..." he said shaking his head. "Perhaps you all should take a break," the group turned to see Julia standing there, "you all look exhausted." "We are Julia..." Elsa replied. Silence hung in the room for a brief moment before the Dr. spoke again, "perhaps we should close a bit early today. Despite having the heaters in the room, the cold is still having an effect on you four. Take the rest of the day to rest yourselves, I'll bring dinner up shortly." "Thank you Dr. Bleeb..." Elsa said. "Yes thank you..." Dweeb added with Woog nodding his head in agreement. Rex turned his head in the direction of the art wing, "is Lily still in the art wing?" he asked curiously. "Yes I believe she is," Julia replied. "I'll see you three later..." Rex said before walking out of the room.
After he left Woog spoke, "he don't ever have time for us no more..." he complained. "Yeah, he disappears on us without a word. I mean where does he go?" Dweeb added. Julia merely smiled, "you two have to understand that Rex has Lily in his life now as well. To have someone to love so deeply is a most precious gift." Silence passed among the dinosaurs for a moment before either of them spoke, "I imagine you three have never experienced that in your lives, even before coming here. I understand if you're feeling a bit jealous, like you've lost your best friend but the truth is...you haven't lost him at all. Rex loves you, you're his friends but more than that you are his family. Even he's told you that hasn't he?" she asked kindly. Elsa nodded her head, "yes he did, the day we were in the park for a picnic. He said we were all family, the four of us, Louie, Cecilia, Lily, you, Captain Neweyes." "That's right Elsa, and no matter what, nothing is ever going to change that," Julia replied. Smiles were exchanged between the three dinosaurs, "no you all should rest..I'll bring up dinner in a little while," she said before walking out of the room. With that Elsa, Woog and Dweeb went to their room to relax around the heater, to get some rest before dinner.
By now Rex had reached the art wing and saw Lily speaking with a young woman who seem to have an interest in her work. A smiled played on his scaly lips as he bedded up just outside the doorway to let them finish their talk. As he watched Lily, he found himself admiring her, he was still elated that they were mates now. Although he knew of the human customs for such an occasion, neither he nor Lily really talked about that kind of thing, at least not yet. He was now silently wondering if that was something she wanted, "I need to talk to her about it." The two women wrapped up their talk, finishing it with the young woman Lily was speaking to, purchasing a painting from her. He saw her smile as the young woman walked away offering him a polite 'goodnight' as she walked passed him. Lily pocketed the money she had received for her painting before making her away over to Rex, to greet him with a kiss. "Hey beautiful.." he purred when they let go of the kiss. "Hey yourself handsome.." she replied, batting her eyelashes at him. A playful smirk appeared on his face, "someone's feeling playful," he murmured, all the while pressing his lips to her neck. She leaned her head to the side, giving him more access, "maybe..." she replied as a shiver ran down her spine. The sound that emanated from Rex's chest was similar to satisfied purr-like chuffing sound Lily had never heard before. Upon doing so, she pulled back to look at Rex curiously, "what is it my flower?" he asked, caressing her cheek tenderly. "That sound you were making, I've never heard you do that before," she answered. An amused chuckle rattled from his throat, "yeah I don't know where that came from..." he replied. Lily giggled, "you're just full of surprises.." she said, resting a hand on his arm while the other traced the small scales on his nose. He wiggled his nose briefly before playfully shaking his head, making Lily giggle, "my playful Rex..." she pressed a kiss to his lips with him returning it. "How was your day?" she asked. "The same as any other basically, I think that the change in temperature has made the kids that come into the museum more energetic. They wore us out today, so much so that Julia called it a day a little early today." Lily was sympathetic, "you poor things, but I know they get so excited because you all bring them so much joy. You remember the parade I know, you guys brought so much joy to everyone." Rex let a tired sigh pass through his lips, "I know you're right my beautiful Lily," he nuzzled his nose into her soft blonde locks, enhaling her sweet scent, "but sometimes I wish they won't like that." She offered him a caring smile, "I know my love...come on, let's go get warm by the heater..." she said. "Alright..." he paused in his movements, "do you want a ride?" he offered with a smile on his lips. She laughed, "are you sure you're not too tired?" she asked. "I'm never too tired for my mate, I always want to make you happy," he replied. Lily could see the warmth he held in his bright green irises, she placed a kiss on his nose, "you are so sweet." He chuckled softly, "so what do say?" he asked. She merely nodded, "I'd love to." He lowered his head then held his claw for her to step into, to be brought up so she could sit on his back, "are you comfortable up there baby?" he purred. She blushed slightly as hearing his pet name, "yes my love.." she replied in almost a whisper. Rex then carefully made his way back to the room he shared with the others and upon reaching it, he lay on his bedding then helped Lily down, "my lady..." he said. She laughed, "well thank you my Knight," she replied giving him a kiss once she stood in front of him. The sound of someone clearing their throat drew the lovers attention from each other to the three dinosaurs who were giving them curious looks. Silence hung in the air around them for a moment before anyone spoke, "you're definitely lovestruck Rex..." Woog teased playfully. Rex's cheeks flamed slightly at the tric's words but when he cleared his throat, "well can you blame me?" he retorted. Woog chuckled, "no...no I can't..." he replied glancing at Dweeb. "So what's the topic of converstation tonight?" Lily asked. "Oh nothing really...just about our day," Elsa answered. "Yes Rex told me a bit about it," Lily replied, snuggling against Rex's side as he curled himself around her. "Yeah I'm just glad the day is over with...*yawn*...I'm so worn out.." Dweeb replied. "I believe you guys could use a good soak in some hot springs, if there were any around that is," Lily stated. "Oh that would be lovely," Elsa sighed, relaxing into the pillow. "Yes it would...my old bones are so tired, I actually ache," Woog said. "I'm not surprised, you had about as many riding on your back as Elsa did," Dweeb replied. The tric relaxed down into his bedding with a tired sigh, "yes I did..." he said as his eyes began to drift shut. "When is Julia bringing up dinner?" Lily asked. "Not for a while yet...why do you ask Lily?" Elsa said. "Oh no reason...I just had an idea I'd like to run past her but it can wait," the blonde replied. Elsa released a yawn along with Dweeb and they settled down for a nap before dinner, leaving Rex and Lily alone for a bit.
Silence passed between the couple for a moment before either of them spoke, "so..." Rex kissed Lily's shoulder, "when are we gonna tell the others about us?" Lily asked. Rex was quiet for a moment before answering, "I've been thinking about that but at the same time...I don't know." "Honey why would you be hesitant to tell them? They are our family aren't they?" she questioned curiously. "Yes they are but what if they start asking questions?" Rex replied. "What do you mean?" she asked, pressing a kiss to his cheek. "I mean I get that they'll be curious but I just...*sigh*...I don't know," Rex said nuzzling his nose into Lily's hair. "If you're thinking that they'll ask about the transformation, they won't know that part if we don't say nothing. Besides, Neweyes did say that it was to be kept between us anyway," Lily reasoned. Rex nodded his head in understanding, "yeah I know you're right," he kissed her shoulder again, "I guess telling them that we're mates isn't a bad idea." Lily smiled, "so when do we tell them?" she asked. Another bit of silence passed between them before the tyrannosaur answered, "I don't really know..." he said finally. Lily smiled, "it's ok, we'll figure that out together." She sideglanced at the rex before speaking again, "so about this morning? What was that about?" she asked curiously. Rex shook his head, "I don't know...I didn't realize I was even doing it until I heard your voice." Lily was quiet for a moment before something occured to her, "maybe it's because we're mates, it could make you feel a bit more protective over me," she reasoned. "You might be right..." Rex said then added, "it felt like my instincts took over me. I knew what I use to see back in my time with other dinosaurs having mates." Lily nodded her head to let him know that she had heard him, "it's ok my love...it's not a bad thing that you're protective but..." Rex made his green eyes look into hers, "you don't have to be that way with family members...ok..." she replied kindly, caressing his cheek tenderly. He leaned into her touch as he spoke, "alright baby...I'll try to do better about that, I promise." She smiled at him then pressed her lips to his with him returning the kiss, caressing her cheek, letting her light golden locks tickle his fingers.
A little later the dinosaurs were enjoying dinner together in a comfortable silence along with the warmth from their heater. A few minutes into dinner Louie and Cecilia came to see their friends, "hello Louie, Cecilia.." Rex greeted. "Hey Rex, Lily..." Louie said as he and Cecilia sat next to the couple. "How have you two been?" Lily asked. "We've been well Miss Lily, Louie has been showing me so many things but since it's began to get cold, we haven't ventured out as much," Cecilia answered. "I know what you mean, it is starting to get cold, even inside..." Elsa said, "the heaters we put up have helped somewhat though." "That's good, don't need you guys freezing," Louie replied, "so is there anything new we should know about?" Silence hung in the room for a moment before Rex answered, "actually there is..." all eyes went to him as he spoke, "me and Lily...well..." he glanced at her and upon receiving a nod, continued, "she and I...have become mates." Upon hearing this gasps were heard around the room, "what?" Woog said with Dweeb looking at astonished as the tric. "How wonderful.." Cecilia said, "Louie and I are happy for you two." "You really mean that?" Rex asked. "Of course we do, it makes us happy to see you so happy Rex," Louie replied with a smile. "Thanks you guys," Lily replied as she nuzzled against Rex's shoulder. He couldn't help but have a smile on his face, "so that explains the attitude this morning," Woog stated. Rex looked away sheepishly, "yeah about that I uh..." "Hey don't worry about it Rex," the tyrannosaur was surprised by the tric's words, "it only makes sense...you're just following your instincts." "Yeah...but still you're my family and I shouldn't be that way with any of you," Rex said. "Don't worry Rex we forgive you," Dweeb said. Rex glanced around to see Elsa and Woog nod their heads yes, he smiled as a relieved sigh pass through he scaly lips, "thanks for being so understanding." "It's ok Rex..." Louie said, stroking the tyrannosaur's nose, "you know we would never hold anything against you, so forget about it." A playful smirk appeared on his lips, "thank you..." was the only words that came from his lips as the family settled in to spend time together.
Several Weeks Later:
The weeks seem to pass slowly as the winter winds whipped outside the doors of the museum, forcing the dinosaurs to remain inside. Most of the time they didn't mind it but with the cold weather forcing them to remain indoors, it was starting to make them all a bit restless. Louie and Cecilia came by more often to see their dinosaur family, spending time with them and trying to take their minds off things. Lily remained at the museum most now, rarely venturing from there unless she absolutely needed to. Today however she wasn't feeling well, she was tucked beneath the cover on the sofa, sipping on some herbal tea, "I guess this cold weather has caught up with me," she said at one point. "Is there anything we can do to help you feel better?" Dweeb asked. She gave the parasaurolophus a weak smile, "you're sweet to ask but no, I just need to try and stay warm and let my body fight it off. It's just a simple cold..." she replied. Dweeb nodded his head in understanding, "we'll do whatever we can to help, you need only ask," Elsa added. Lily merely nodded as Julia came in with some soup, "here you are dear, my chicken soup fights off any cold." "Thank you..." Lily replied. The gray-haired woman walked from the room to see to a few things, promising to come back and check on Lily a little later. Rex remained curled around Lily, acting as a hot water bottle, hoping his bodyheat would work to break the young woman's fever. She relished in her mate's warmth and sighed contently, nuzzling her nose against his shoulder. Rex was very attentive, making sure Lily was looked after and comfortable. After finishing the soup she snuggled down against Rex's warm belly and drifted off to sleep.
While she rested the dinosaurs made sure to keep their voices low, to allow her to rest and recover from her cold. Rex rarely left her side unless it was absolutely necessary. When he did get up though, he would ask Dweeb to curl around Lily, as he was small enough that he could. The parasaurolophus was more than happy to help out, even if it was something so simple, he'd curl his body around Lily in the same manner Rex would to ensure she stayed warm. Upon his return Dweeb carefully got up and allow Rex to take up his place at Lily's side.
Around lunchtime Lily woke up, feeling somewhat better she decided to get a nice hot soak in the bath upstairs. Julia gave Lily some eucalyptus scented body wash with a hint of mint to help clear her head, aromatheraphy she called it. Lily was grateful to the good Dr. and made her way upstairs to soak for a bit.
With Lily out of the room the dinosaurs talked among themselves, trying to pass the time. Rex stole a glance out the window to see snow falling down, "well...it's snowing again..." he sighed, lowering his head down on his bedding. Elsa stifled a shiver as she spoke, "I can't seem to get warm today.." she commented. "You're not by yourself Elsa.." Woog admitted, "I feel a bit chilled myself." "Come here Elsa and curl against me, I'll keep you warm," Dweeb offered. She smiled at him, "thank you..." she came to Dweeb's side and huddled against him, enjoying the warmth his body gave off.
Upstairs Lily was enjoying the hot water of her bath and the scent of the body wash Dr. Bleeb had given her. A content sigh passed through her lips as the scent of the eucalyptus and mint filled her senses and opened up her head. "Wow this aromatheraphy really works," she said resting her head on the side of the tub. She scrubbed her body clean and by the end of her bath, she was feeling much better than she had been before. However when she stood and reached for a towel, she felt her head begin to spin a little, "whoa..." she placed a hand to her head, "I guess I stood up too fast..." she reasoned. A moment passed before the feeling went away and she attempted to reach for the towel a second time, thankfully she was able to grab it with no problem. She dried herself off then grabbed for her clothes and began to slip them on, she hummed soft tune to herself she felt better, "that hot bath did wonders..." she said to herself. It was when she looked at her reflection in the mirror that she noticed something about herself that she hadn't before. She tilted her head slightly before turning to the side, upon doing so her eyes widened slightly that she noticed it, "*gasp* my stomach." She placed her hand there for an instant, "guess I've put on a little bit of weight after the winter set in," she reasoned. She merely shrugged her shoulders and made her way downstairs where she knew Rex was waiting for her.
When she entered the scent of the body wash clung to her skin, "mmh you smell intoxicating," Rex whispered into her ear once she was close enough. A blush covered her cheeks, "Rex.." she giggled when she felt his tongue flick against her cheek, "you're so playful." A smirk appeared on his face, "you make me that way," he purred as she sat back beside him. "You look like you're feeling better," Dweeb remarked. "You know I actually am, that armortheraphy really works..." she replied. Rex lowered his head until his muzzle rested against her forehead, the gesture was so tender, it was as if it were the most natural thing for the tyrannosaur to do, "it would seem your fever has finally broken," he stated as he pulled back enough to look into her bright green gems. "Thank goodness," Elsa chimed in with Dweeb and Woog nodding their heads. "I'm so glad..." Rex murmured, tucking his nose beneath Lily's chin and kissing her neck sweetly. The amount of love Rex felt for Lily knew no limits and even his family could see it. Though Lily was feeling much better she didn't mention the dizzy spell to Rex, knowing he'd fuss over her if she did. She decided that if it happened again then she would mention it to him but if it was just a one time thing, then there was no need to raise his worry for nothing. Rex was relieved that his Lily was feeling much better, he had worried over her, understandably but even so he always wanted his mate to be feeling good. Still, Rex made sure to keep a close eye on her anyway just to be sure she was truly ok.
The rest of the day seem to pass comfortably for the family sitting around the heater in their room. On into the evening the feeling remained and even through dinner as well. After dinner the dinosaurs settled down into their bedding a little early, as it was cold and was making them seek the warmth of their bedding and each other. As usual, Rex and Lily were the only ones left awake, which gave them time to talk privately, "I'm so glad you're feeling better baby," Rex purred. Lily smiled, "I am too.." she sighed. "There's something I want to ask you about," Rex said. Lily made her emerald eyes look into his, "what is it?" she asked. "I've been thinking about some things lately and one thing is us being mates," Lily nodded her head as Rex continued, "I know what the human customs are but I was just curious if that was something you had ever thought about?" The young woman was silent for a moment before speaking, "I know what you're talking about, I know when I was little that I thought about it a little but then decided that I didn't." "How come?" Rex asked. "Because I thought I'd be by myself, I mean I had never found anyone that I felt that kind of deep connection with," she closed her eyes and smiled, "but that all changed when we met." Rex smiled at this as she continued, "I know that dinosaurs don't have any kind of ceremony for that type of thing and I'm ok with that. The only thing that matters is you and I are together." Rex took her hand into his claw, "you know I'd give you that if you truly wanted it," he stated, "I want to always make you happy." She nuzzled her cheek against his muzzle, "you're just the sweetest Rex and while I do appreciate the thought, there's no need for some fancy ceremony because at the end of the day I have you and that's all that matters." Rex closed his eyes as a soft purr emanated from his throat, "I love you." "I love you too Rex..." she murmured. He held her close to his body, making sure to keep her warm, curling his body snugly around her.
They remained awake for a little while talking, "can I ask you something personal?" she asked. Rex looked at her curiously, "you can ask me anything." Lily thought on her words a moment before speaking, "have you thought about the day we got to spend together?" she asked. Rex knew what she was referring to, "yes I've thought about it a bit. Why do you ask?" Lily shrugged her shoulders, "I was just curious I guess." Rex could tell there was more to what she was saying and as he thought about it something occured to him, "I think I know why you've been thinking about that day," she met his emerald gaze with her own, "it's because we were able to entangle then." A light blush played on her cheeks, which told Rex that it was part of the reason, "you're not by yourself baby, I've found myself wanting that again too." Then she asked a question that surprised the tyrannosaur, "is there no way for us to entangle now, even with you back in your tyrannosaur body?" Rex's eyes widened slightly at her question and he was silent for a few moments after, "I don't...I mean..." he let a soft sigh pass through his lips, "I want to, you have to know that I want to but it's as I said the first time we talked about it. I'd be scared that I'd hurt you if we were to entangle with me being like this." Lily looked down at his claw before placing a hand there as she spoke, "I understand that but..." she made her green eyes meet his, "we won't know, if we don't try." He felt his heart begin to race in his chest, "Lily..." he breathed. "I love you Rex and you love me, I know that you would never hurt me," Lily murmured. She caressed the rex's cheek so tenderly, tracing the small scales there causing a soft purr to emit from his throat. He could see that her eyes were soft and warm, shimmering in the light from the heater they were seated next to. Rex found himself entranced by them and felt as though he were under a spell, "Lily...Lily..." he all but panted as he pressed his lips to hers. As she kissed him, she could feel his passion, she knew he wanted her just as much as she wanted him. When they broke off the kiss she saw how his eyes glistened in the warm light of the heater, "Rex..." she murmured, "we can't do it here, it could wake the others." Rex thought for a moment before an idea hit him, "we could go to the garden..." his eyes became half-lidded as he spoke, "we can create a little rumble in the jungle..." he purred. She giggled at his antics, "you're so naughty.." she purred. "Oh baby you have no idea..." he purred as he carefully lifted her into his arms and proceeded to carry her to the garden.
When they entered the garden Rex went straight for the lagoon before setting Lily back on her feet. She turned her eyes to the lagoon and sighed contently, "it's beautiful in here..." she replied as Rex captured her in his arm once more. "It is but nothing compares to you my beautiful flower..." he purred, peppering her neck with sweet kisses. Lily leaned her head to the side to give Rex more access. His response was to purr seductively into her ear as he nuzzled her then captured her lips again with her whimpering into the kiss. They let go of the kiss for the briefest of moments for Rex to lay down and Lily to lay in his arms only to be on each others mouth again. Their hearts raced in their chests and their bodies began to feel hot, they clung to each other as they kissed. Rex carefully ran his clawed-hands up and down Lily's back and hips, trying to feel as much of her as he could. Breaking off the kiss for air he spoke, "we didn't bring anything for us to lay on..." he said. Realizing that Rex was right a thought occured to her, "I can go grab the blanket from our room," she suggested. Rex gave her a quick nod as she disappeared back to their room to retrieve the blanket. While he waited for her to return his mind lingered on when they entangled, "I have to be careful this time..." he told himself. A moment later Lily returned with the blanket over her arm, "got the blanket..." she said with a smile. He smiled at her as she lay the blanket out then came to lay back in his arms once more, "now...where were we?" she asked playfully, tracing his lower lip in a teasing manner. A soft, sultry chuckle left the tyrannosaur's throat, "I believe we were right here..." he replied as he captured her lips once more with his. He kept his hands at her waist, holding her against his body but remaining mindful so as not to hurt her. Lily clung to Rex as she returned the kisses he gave her, she slipped off her sneakers and ran a delicate foot along his chest and stomach. A deep purr was her reward for her efforts which made her smile against his mouth, she pulled back just enough to look him in the eye, "I love you Rex..." "I love you too Lily," came his husky response. Running his clawed-hands down her body again he paused them at her waist, glancing at her, asking for silent permission to remove her clothes. She gave him a gentle nod to allow him to continue just as she had done back in the beachhouse. She knew he was making sure to be careful with her and she made sure to reassure him that he wouldn't hurt her, "just go slow...like before..." she whispered. He nuzzled his nose against the fabric of her shirt before carefully lifting it up and over her head before tossing it aside. Though she felt a slight chill with it's removal she suppressed a shiver to allow Rex to continue. With her shirt removed from her slender body Rex lowered his mouth and kiss the exposed flesh of her chest and stomach before coming back up to remove her bra. A light blush appeared on his cheeks when they were exposed to his eyes once more, "so beautiful..." he purred, lowering his head to nuzzle between her two firm mounds. Lily arched her back a little at feeling his soft touch and began to whimper when she felt his tongue swirl around her nipple. He smirked against her soft skin as he continued his teasing, using his other claw to carefully massage her other breast, rolling the nipple gently. She was surprised at how gentle Rex was being, "it doesn't matter what form he's in..he's gonna be gentle with me either way." Despite the size difference between them now, he made sure to be careful with her and she knew it's because he loves her. Lily ran her hands over Rex's face, caressing him and loving on where she could reach. Rex relished in her touch and affection, he moved further down Lily's body, undoing the button of her jeans then sliding them down her long legs. Once he had them off he trailed his fingers over them, enjoying the feel of them against his palm, the softness of her skin and her sweet scent. He was intoxicated on her and she knew it, she felt her body heat up as she watched him move to her waist. He planted his lips just above the hem of her undergarments before slipping a finger beneath it and sliding the bit of lace down her legs. Placing the bit of lace to the side Rex's eyes glistened intently, his gaze was gentle but Lily noticed a bit hungry as well. She was feeling it too and had the same look on her face as well. Rex nosed the light blonde curls at the entrance and Lily was curious as to what Rex was going to do in her sweet scent the rex slipped his tongue from his mouth and gently began to lick at her entrance. Lily jolted upon feeling his wet tongue against her senstive flesh but opened up to him slightly so he could explore her if he wished. Now completely intoxicated on her scent Rex tested the waters as he slipped his tongue down a bit further until he found her opening. His warm breath sent chills up her spine, she watched him curiously as he tenderly licked her sweet scented folds and upon doing so plunged his tongue inside. A gasp escaped her lips, along with a pleased whimper as her eyes closed and she tossed her head back against the blanket. Rex felt his body begin to react to her soft sounds while her scent was working him up into a frenzy, "can't let myself get carried away, I don't want to hurt her." He continued to lap at her sweetness a bit longer before raising up his head to look at her. When their gazes met a silent message passed between them, Rex understood and moved carefully to position his body over Lily with only a small fraction of it on her. Before moving forward anymore he spoke, "let me know..." her gaze became lock on his, "if I get too carried away." Lily merely nodded to Rex as he moved forward a bit more until Lily could feel his length emerging from his sheath, brushing against her thigh. Her eyes immediately went to it, as she was curious to how it looked. Rex remained still for a moment to allow Lily to take in the sight of his length. He saw how her eyes traced it's outline, taking in each detail before reaching out to touch it. Rex was secretly pleased that she was curious about him, it made him feel a bit more confident about continuing this encounter. Lily ran a delicate finger over the triangle-shaped head before caressing the sensitive flesh, this causing a deep purr to emit from the tyrannosaur, his pupils dilating slightly with his eyes closing. Lily was intrigued to see Rex's reaction just to her touch and it delighted her. After toying with the head of his length she ran a gentle hand down the shaft until she could no longer reach, a quick glanced remedied that as Rex moved forward a bit to allow her to feel every inch of him. Her eyes traced the outline of each sensitive ridges down the shaft, she turned her eyes to look into his, "I never knew this is what it looked like," she said in almost a whisper. Rex had clearly had heard her and responded, "most don't...no human has ever seen our...secret appendage," he purred. A sultry laugh left Lily's lips, "hmm...I wonder how sensitive it is..." she replied coyly. Rex positioned himself to lay down to give her more access to his intimate region, "why not explore and see..." his voice was drowning in arousal as he spoke. Lily fully intended to explore him and test the magic in her fingertips, "I fully intend to..." came her sultry voice. She moved closer to his body, placing a gentle hand on the impressive length and kissing her way down the shaft, eliciting an aroused purr for her efforts. Lily made sure to be careful when she tested his sensitivity, she wanted this to be pleasurable for him just as much as he wanted her to be pleasured. After trailing kisses down his shaft, she took one of the ridges into her mouth, lightly sucking on the pink flesh before licking a stripe up to the tip. Rex's mind was reeling at the sensation she was creating, "if she keeps this up...I won't be able to remain in control.." was the only thing he could think at the moment. After teasing a couple of the ridges Lily came back up to lay in Rex's arms and press her lips to his in a sultry kiss which he eagerly returned.
When she had laid in the rex's arms, Lily made sure that her entrance was right above the tip of his length as part of her hoped he'd tease her entrance with it. She was rewarded a moment later with just that as Rex shifted just enough so that his member was resting right at her entrance. Lily encouraged him by brushing her sweet scented folds against the head, giving him a small feel of her warmth, to let him know of the beautiful ache they were both feeling at the moment. Taking a moment to regain their senses for an instant, Rex brought up a claw to caress Lily's cheek, "are you sure you want to do this?" he asked sweetly. "Yes Rex...I'm more sure than I've ever been, because I love you and I want you to know that no matter the form you are in..." she interlocked her fingers with his, "that I will always love you and for you to know that you are always wanted." For that instant, Rex was sure his heart had stopped beating because of the sweetness of her words, "you really mean that?" he asked tangling his fingers in her hair. "Well yes I do, I am your mate now and forever Rex and you are mine. Nothing is ever going to change that..." she whispered. To see Lily look up at him with such love made him fall for her all over again and he would never deny her. He lowered his head and pressed his lips to hers again only this time he shifted himself up enough so that his length could enter her without much effort. A soft gasp escaped Lily's lips when she felt the head of his length brush against her entrance again before entering it slowly and carefully. She pressed kisses to his chest, neck and lips as he continued to enter her until he reached her center, he was buried within her as much as their bodies allowed and for a moment neither of them moved. They absorbed this feeling, the feeling of being locked together in such an intimate way that was only meant for them to experience together. After allowing Lily time to adjust Rex began to lazily thrust into her, making sure to be careful until he knew she was comfortable with him inside her. The feeling of him moving in and out of her brought warmth to her body and she felt his love for her radiate through her very being, "he's larger than I anticipated but he feels amazing." Rex too, was thinking the same thing, though it was different from their first time, it took nothing away from this experience. They fit together so perfectly as if they were made for this and made for each other. Getting into a comfortable rhthym Rex ran a loving claw down Lily's back while letting the other rest on her hip, "you feel amazing.." he panted. "So do you my love," came her moaned out response. Lily rubbed her leg against Rex's thigh which made him roll slightly to where she was beneath him but keeping only a fraction of his weight on her, just enough to be pleasant. He continued his movements, being ever mindful of the woman beneath him. The tingling sensation in her body made her heart race as she panted and whimpered blissfully, "Rex...oh Rex..." His reponse was a deep purr-like growl as he moved with well-aimed prosition, "Lily...Lily..." came his husky voice in her ear. A delightful shiver ran the length of her spine and it continued when Rex brought his claw up to hold her tenderly against him. The pair moved in tandem with one another, each feeling as much of the other as they could, blissfully aware of deep connection they were creating. The depth of their love, their deep seated bond that went to the very depths of their souls was enough for them to be entangled this 's movements soon switched from passionate to frantic as the feeling within them told them they were close to their release. "Lily...Lily I'm..." he panted. "I know Rex, I know...give me all of it..." she breathed between moans. With several deep, passionate thrusts Rex gritted his teeth and groaned as the pressure was released in a blissful, satisfying explosion of his seed into Lily's satisfied body. Lily moaned out her lover's name as she came swiftly behind him, "Rex...*pant*...Rex..." she clenched tightly around his length making him buck against her slightly. He had released so much that some of it flowed from their connection onto the blanket they were laying on. Their bodies shuttered from their exertions and being unable to hold himself up anymore Rex moved to lay with his length still buried within Lily's satisfied walls. Both panted for their breath, tangled up in each other's arms with their hearts pounding in their chests. Rex could hardly believe the feeling radiating through his body while he lay there with Lily in his arms. He turned his gaze down just enough to look into her beautiful face as she half-dozed, bathing in his warmth. He wore a satisfied, happy smile on his lips as he carefully disconnected for her before drawing Lily in close to his body. She sighed contently, placing a kiss on his chest then turning her head just enough to kiss his lips. He returned the kiss with the upmost tenderness and love, his whole heart belonged to this woman, her and her alone. No other female he'd ever known in his life had ever had the type of hold that Lily did. This was what true love felt like and he was so grateful to have her in his life and by his side as his mate, "I love you my beautiful Lily.." he murmured. She turned her emerald gaze to his, "I love you too my handsome Rex." They shared another kiss before reading themselves to return to their room upstairs, "should we go back now?" he asked. Lily was silent for a moment before answering, "yeah I think we should besides.." she rubbed her arms to hold off the chill, "it's warmer up there by the heater." Rex nodded his head, "yes it is..." he stated as he carefully stood up, his length returning to it's sheath as he did so. Lily gathered her clothes, and though she was a bit wobbily, she got redressed and then she and Rex made their way back upstairs to the room where the other dinosaurs were sleeping.
When they entered their room, they indeed found the three still sleeping peacefully. The pair quietly made their way over to Rex's bedding and laid down on it, with Lily laying down first and Rex curling his body around her. He hugged her close to his chest, curling himself into a tighter ball to ensure she stayed warm through the night. She sighed contently and snuggled against him, "goodnight Rex...I love you." "I love you too baby," he pressed a kiss to her temple, "goodnight my angel." A yawn slipped through her lips as she slipped off to sleep in her tyrannosaur's warm embrace. Rex remained awake for a moment or two more before succumbing to the sleepiness that was taking hold of his body. He didn't resist it, he couldn't, not with Lily laying against his body with her warmth radiating through him. A yawn passed through his gapping maw and he easily slipped off into a peaceful slumber next to his mate.
It was around midnight when Lily woke up feeling unwell again, she eased herself out of Rex's tender hold, slipped off his bedding and made a quiet dash to the bathroom. The next few minutes in the bathroom was spent hunched over the toilet, empting her stomach of it's contents. Once she had stopped, she flushed the contents away and wiped her mouth as her mind began to reel, "maybe I'm not over whatever I got I guess.." she said to herself. She waited a moment or two before standing up and going to the sink to rinse her mouth and rid it of that taste, "blch." With her mouth free of the bitter taste, she made her way back to the room to try and go back to sleep. When she entered she smiled at the scene in front of her, the dinosaurs sleeping peacefully around the heater. She walked quietly over to the tyrannosaur's side and once back upon the bedding she found amusement in the fact that he was sleeping so deeply on this night. "I guess our encounter earlier in the garden wore him out," she mused. A yawn passed through her lips as she snuggled back down onto the bedding, cuddling against Rex for warmth, only to have him wrap an arm around her slender frame before settling again. She couldn't keep the smile off her face as she easily slipped back off to sleep wrapped in Rex's arms.
When the morning came it found snow blanketing the ground outside, sparkling like diamonds as the sun's rays hit it just right. At the museum the dinosaurs were keeping warm around the heater in their room as they ate their breakfast, however as one ate he noticed that the young woman didn't seem to have much of an appetite. Since waking up Rex had been keeping a very close eye on the young woman cuddled against his side. He'd noticed Lily didn't seem herself this morning and he wondered what the cause was, "I hope I didn't hurt her last night when we were in the gardens." He went through different ideas in his head when he discovered Lily still not feeling well as he deeply cared about her well-being and as her mate it was his job to take care of her. At one point he lowered his muzzle and gently pressed it against her forehead, checking her temperature, "no fever...so that's not it." He flicked his tongue against her cheek affectionately hoping to at least make her smile a little if nothing else. Her emerald eyes glanced up at his briefly with just the traces of a smile on her lips but huddling back down into his warmth once more. Though it was a small smile, seeing it made him feel a little bit better but still he was worried about her, "I hope she'll be alright.." he thought to himself, gently curling his tail around her, acting as a hot water bottle for his Lily.
The other three dinosaurs could see how worried the tyrannosaur was over Lily but knew of nothing they could do to help their ailing family member. However that answer came sooner than any of them anticipated when Captain Neweyes came into the room with Dr. Bleeb at his side along with Vorb, "hello friends." All eyes turned to the Captain when they heard his voice, "hello Captain Neweyes," Elsa greeted. "Elsa, Woog, Dweeb..." he turned his blue eyes to the tyrannosaur, "Rex." "Hello Captain," Rex replied, "how are you?" "Oh I'm well but I have to say this cold air reaches straight to my old bones," he replied. "That's why I brought tea," Dr. Bleeb dinosaurs were no stranger to the tea Julia often fixed, they enjoyed it very much as it always seemed to relax them somehow. Either way they knew it would warm them up and make them feel not so sluggish, "oh tea sounds lovely," Elsa said as she accepted the cup from Julia, as did Dweeb and Woog, though his had a straw so he could drink it comfortably. Rex also accepted his cup with a thankful nod to Julia before turning his eyes to glance at Lily. It was then that Neweyes noticed the young woman cuddle at Rex's side, "is Miss Lily not feeling well this morning?" he asked, concerned. Rex shook his head, "no she's not been feeling well for the last couple of days." "Hmm.." an idea was beginning to form in the gray-haired man's mind, "what are her sympthoms? I have a vast amount of knowledge on medicine, perhaps I can help her recover from whatever has made her feel unwell." The dinosaurs were so grateful to have Captain Neweyes in their lives, especially Rex, the old man had done so much for him and his friends. "I know she had a fever before but after taking a bath with eucalyptus and mint body wash I gave her, it seemed to help break the fever," Dr. Bleeb answered. "Well that's one good thing..." Neweyes commented, "anything else?" Silence passed among the group for a moment but became surprised when Lily's voice was heard, "I was a little dizzy the other night after I got out the bath and I was..." she glanced up at Rex briefly before continuing, "I got sick last night." Hearing this made Rex's eyes widened slightly, he set his cup down next to him in order to caress her cheek, "why didn't you tell me?" he asked. A yawn passed through her lips before she answered, "because I didn't want to worry you if it was nothing but an upset stomach." Rex pressed a kiss to her forehead, "still I wish you would've told me, you know I worry about you." She smiled at him, "I know you do honey..." she replied pressing a kiss to his nose. Neweyes knelt in front of Lily as he spoke, "going by what you've told me I think I may have an idea what's causing you to feel unwell." "You do?" Lily asked. "Yes but I'd like to examine you, if you would allow me to. I want to be sure so I can treat you properly," Neweyes answered. Lily thought it over for a moment before nodding her head, "alright.." she said. The Captain nodded his head and as he stood up, extended his hand to help her up, "don't worry Rex, I'll take good care your mate.." he said with a smile. Rex was grateful, "thank you...I'm grateful." Neweyes nodded his head as he led Lily away with Dr. Bleeb accompanying them.
While the dinosaurs remained around the heater to wait for them to come back, they sipped on the tea Juila had given them, feeling the hot liquid warm their bodies. "Hmm this tea is delicious.." Dweeb commented. "It is.." Woog added. "I always enjoy Juila's tea, the flavor dances on my tongue," Elsa remarked with Rex nodding in agreement.
Back with Neweyes and Dr. Bleeb, they had brought Lily onto the Captain's ship, which he'd parked on the back patio of the museum, and had her sitting on an examination table. Vorb was hovering close by to assist Neweyes in whatever way he needed to. Thankfully the room they were in was warm so Lily was comfortable and she was glad that Dr. Bleeb had come with them, it put her mind at ease. "Alright Lily, lay back on the table for me and we'll use this scanner to get a better look at you," Neweyes suggested kindly. Lily nodded her head and did as the Captain asked her to, she watched the machine, being guided by Vorb, hover above her prone form as it began to scan her body. "This is a fasinating machine you have Captain," Bleeb complimented. "It took many years to perfect but it comes in handy with these type of situations," Neweyes replied as he watched the screen closely. After a couple of scans Lily was allowed to sit up while Neweyes and Bleeb looked at the scans, she became curious when she saw Bleeb's eyes widened slightly. "What do you see?" she asked. Silence hung in the room for the briefest of moments before either of them answered, "well it would seem it was something I never expected to see," Bleeb said. Lily remained silent but she saw Neweyes' face soften considerably as he looked at her, "well Miss Lily...it would seem you now carry a special gift within you." At first Lily was confused but as she thought about it, her eyes widened, "are you telling me that I'm...?" she couldn't make the word come out of her mouth. Neweyes nodded his head as he came over to stand in front of the young woman, "I had a feeling this would be in store for you and Rex, after giving him the potion that allowed him to take a human form. This is what a true bond of love looks like and it gives gifts to those who are worthy of having them." Lily had a small but nervous smile on her lips as she asked her question, "can I ask you something?" "Of course, I imagine you have many questions for me," Neweyes replied. "Well..." she placed a hand on her stomach as she spoke, "about my baby...it won't be born with a dinosaur tail or anything right?" she asked. A soft chuckle left Neweyes' lips, "no dear because you two were together while he was in a human form your baby will be born completely normal. Now whether or not your gift will gain a few of Rex's traits later in life remains uncertain but for the most part everything will be as it should be." Lily let a soft sigh pass through her lips as she asked her next question, "I meant to ask you when you gave Rex that potion, does it have any lasting effects after it's been used?" "In what way?" Neweyes questioned. "I mean does it give the being who drank it the ability to still shift at will if they wish to or is it just a one time thing?" she asked. The Captain was silent for a moment before answering the young woman's question, "typically the answer is no but that particular one I gave to Rex does allow him to take his human form again if he so chooses. I made sure it had that just in case he did want to take that form again." "How does he do that?" Lily asked. "It's quite simple really, he merely needs to clear his mind and focus on the feeling he had when the potion first took effect. It's buried deep within his subconscious and he has to tap into it in order for the transformation to happen. With you carrying his baby, it'll be easier for him to tap into the want to take shift," he explained. Lily nodded her head to let the Captain know she had heard him, "I understand.." was her only response. Neweyes nodded his head, "come...we should get you back inside so you can tell him the good news and don't worry," Lily made her green eyes look at the Captain, "if you need any help through this time in your lives, you know how to find me." Hearing this seem to relax Lily a bit, "thank you Captain Neweyes, I really do appreciate it." With that the three made their way back inside the museum where the dinosaurs were waiting for them.
Still sitting around the heater, Rex was beginning to get antsy, "do you think she's alright?" he asked, looking at Elsa for reassurance. "Oh Rex I'm sure she's fine..." she replied, "try not to worry so much." "I can't help it.." he whispered. "It's gonna be ok man," Woog stated. "Yeah Captain Neweyes will get Lily right as rain, you'll see.." Dweeb added. Rex appreciated his friends reassuring words, it brought him comfort, "thanks guys.." he said. Just then the door opened as the three entered the room once more, "Lily..." he whispered as she came over to him and nuzzled her cheek against his muzzle. "So what did you find out?" Woog asked. Neweyes looked at the young woman briefly, "would you feel more comfortable if I told them?" he asked. She merely nodded her head yes, giving the Captain permission to reveal what they had discovered, "what is it?" Dweeb asked. "Is she alright?" Elsa asked. Neweyes nodded his head as he spoke, "she'll be fine, you needn't worry. I scanned her with the machine I invented and it revealed the cause of her feeling unwell." "What did it show you?" Rex asked. The tyrannosaur saw the softness in the Captain's face as he spoke, "Rex...you and Lily have been given a great gift..." Rex felt Lily nuzzle against his chest as Neweyes continued, "when you were able to be a part of her world, you were given more than just a new form." Upon hearing this made the other three dinosaurs look at each other curiously, "what's he mean a new form?" Woog asked. "Yeah what does he mean Rex?" Dweeb asked. Elsa could see the uncertainty on the young tyrannosaur's face, "whatever it is Rex you can tell us. You know we would never become angry with you." Rex glanced at the Captain and upon receiving a nod spoke, "a few weeks ago the Captain gave me something, a potion that allowed me to take the form of a human. It allowed me to spend the day with Lily in a new way," he answered. Silence hung in the room briefly before anyone spoke, "well I can't say I blame you for wanting to spend the day with her that way. I'm sure if I were you, I would've done the same thing," Woog answered with a smile. "Really?" Rex asked. "Yeah we all would, to have a reason to is something really special," Dweeb added. "He's right, you have been given a gift Rex...we should all be so lucky," Elsa replied. Rex could only smile as he turned back to Neweyes, "so what did you mean with what you said Captain?" he asked. The Captain wasn't surprised that Rex hadn't caught on the subtle hint in his words so with a smile, he clarified, "Rex...you...are going to be a father." You could've knocked him over with a feather, "what?" he said, hardly believing it as he glanced down at Lily, who clung to him. He wrapped his arms around her, "is this true?" he asked, caressing her cheek with a gentle claw. Lily nodded her head, "yes my love...you are going to be a father." Rex's eyes widened before softening and filling with tears, "I love you Lily.." he purred as he embraced her warmly. "I love you too Rex..." Lily murmured, nuzzling her nose against his neck.
The amount of love in the room was incredible at the knowledge that their unique little family would gain a new member, "this is so exciting," Elsa chimed in. "It certainly is.." Bleeb added. "Yes it's a special thing to have a family such as this. You are all fortunate to have each other and I know you all will help them along the way, just as I will," Neweyes concurred. "Just wait until Louie and Cecilia hear about this," Dweeb added with Woog nodding his head. "Oh they'll be so thrilled," Elsa said, "especially Cecilia." Joy seem to spread through each one in the room but none more so than Rex and Lily, their hearts were overflowing with love and happiness.
Later on that morning after Neweyes had left the dinosaurs and Lily settled around the heater, enjoying the warmth that radiated out from it. Before he left however Captain Neweyes had spoken with Rex and Lily privately, explaining a few things to the tyrannosaur, to ensure he had the knowledge he needed to take proper care of Lily. Along with the knowledge, Neweyes gave them a few things to help with Lily's sympthoms as well as some herbs to help keep her strong through her pregnancy. He also explained to Rex how he could return to his human form whenever he wished to. The couple was excited about this new chapter in their lives and wondered how things would change once their little one arrived.
