Day 5: Scars

It was a warm and sultry day when Gwen and Duncan decided to go to the indoor pool in Duncan's apartment. Fortunately for them, no one was in the pool. After all, most of the residents preferred the outdoor one better and be out in the sun so the couple were lucky enough to receive the pool for themselves.

After a couple hours of mucking around in the pool, Gwen and Duncan finally settled down as they sat on the edge of the pool with their legs in the water.

"Y'know Pasty, you're better in swimming than I expected. I'd expected you to be winded after doing a lap but you didn't." Duncan commented, giving Gwen a little nudge. "Shockingly."

"Hey, I was pretty solid." Gwen retorted in a playful manner as she slapped Duncan's arm away.

Duncan shrugged in response as he scooted closer. "I'll give you props for that but I hope you know I was going easy on you. You really thought I sucked that bad at swimming." He claimed, smirking along. "I just didn't have the heart to embarrass my girlfriend in front of everyone."

"But there's no one here!" Gwen protested, punching Duncan's arm. When she did, she noticed a peculiar line on his arm. It was pretty large and looked like it got stitched together. She never saw that before. Gwen glanced at the scar on his arm as she poked it. And she did it again. "What's that? Does it hurt if I do that?"

After Gwen noticed the scar on his arm, Duncan felt a little uneasy as he quickly thought of an idea to distract her. So, he placed a hand on her back as he patted it and he 'accidentally' pushed Gwen into the pool. That would distract her. "What was that? Didn't quite hear-Woah Sweetheart, I guess I don't know my own strength." He changed the topic, snickering at Gwen's expression as she pushed herself above the water to glare at him.

"Hey! What was that for!?" Gwen shrieked.

Score! Duncan internally thought.Just distract her a bit and she'll forget in a heartbeat. "Woah Sweetheart, what did I do? I didn't expect you to fall in so quickly. I thought you were more stronger than that." Duncan stated, raising an eyebrow.

"We'll see who's strong." Gwen stated, grabbing onto Duncan's leg and pulling him into the pool. Once Duncan surfaced himself in the pool, Gwen placed an arm on her hip. "So what is it?"

"What is what?" Duncan asked, 'acting' dumbfounded.

Gwen moved closer and poked Duncan's scar. "The scar, jackass. What happened?"

"Uh..." Duncan hesitated, looking away for an excuse before an idea struck him. "I'll tell you if you catch me!" He claimed as he sprinted off.

"You're on!" Gwen said, determined to catch Duncan. She needed to know what was happened. The two ran around the pool, sending each other surprise attacks and chasing after each other before Gwen came up with a plan. To hide under the pool and startle Duncan. Easy. As Duncan cautiously slowed down and inspecting his surroundings, Gwen steadily crept over to him. And then, she pounced on him, catching him off-guard as he fell. Gwen jumped off his back and helped Duncan stand up before she waited for an answer. "So?"

Duncan paused to think an excuse. Maybe he could just lie about it. "I just scarred myself. It just comes with the 'bad boy' package." Duncan remarked, puffing out his chest.

Gwen bit her lip, her concern deepening. "You know you don't have to act all tough and mighty all the time, right? It's okay to get hurt."

"I am tough and mighty. It's not an act." Duncan claimed, crossing his arms and letting out an exaggerated scoff. He looked back at Gwen and noticed she looked more worried than into jokes and he sighed. "Just something stupid I did as a kid."

"If you really don't want to talk about it, it's alright. Just... know you can tell me, alright?"

Comforted by Gwen's words, Duncan looked down as he nodded. "Yeah, thanks Gwen." He thanked as he plopped himself a spot on the edge of the pool and patted a spot for Gwen to join. "C'mon then." He insisted as him and Gwen sat down on the edge of the pool. "I... got it from my pops."
