Day 7: Their Future

The married couple was sitting on a beach chair under the umbrella as they debated on Duncan's questionable choice of a drink. It was the fact that there were so many drink options and Duncan picks the most basic one: Pepsi. Not even Coke! But soon, their attention was drawn away from the drinks and onto their kids, Maeve and Eleanor, who were splashing each other in the pool.

"It's not my fault you have no taste. I mean, Sprite? Really?" Duncan remarked as he noticed Gwen staring at her kids with a soft smile. He watched them for a moment before facing Gwen again. "I wonder whose genes they got." He added, smirking along. "Hopefully it's not yours."

Gwen nodded along, not laying her eyes off the two girls. "I think you're right. I mean, look at them! They're like an exact replica of you but as a girl." Gwen pointed.

"I mean, we've got some similar interests and all. Maybe they just inherited the good parts from both of us," Duncan shrugged, a playful grin on his face. "But they obviously received the better genes. Aka: Mine."

"No Duncan, I don't mean interests. I mean, like, they've got the exact same personality and looks as you do. Where's my part of the share?" Gwen responded. "Except that they've inherited some of my paleness. Other than that, I don't think they've got anything from me." She crossed her arms, smiling at her kids as they continued playing in the pool.

Duncan chuckled along, wrapping an arm around Gwen and pulling her closer. "I guess that counts for something, right? Maybe they've got some from you but it's like hidden or something."

"Yeah, sure. That's totally what it is. They probably got all of yours with a sprinkle of mine." Gwen retorted with a playful grin.

Just then, Gwen and Duncan noticed Maeve and Eleanor walking by the edge of the pool. The two girls were chatting about something before Maeve have a mischievous grin and playfully shoved Eleanor into the pool. It was the shallow end so it was easy for Eleanor to swim. The older daughter, Maeve, was laughing as she watched her little sister try to surface herself from the water.

"Why'd you push me in!? Fartface!" Eleanor yelled.

"Yeah... that's definitely from you." Gwen stated, hinting about Maeve's antics. "Even the insult—you probably taught her that one. Good one. Next time if you're trying to teach an insult, make it a good one." She scoffed, crossing her arms.

Duncan rolled his eyes as he nuzzled his head on Gwen's shoulder. "Well, I could've if you hadn't taught Maeve and Eleanor to punch me every time I curse. Bloody isn't even a vulgar word!"

"Mum! Dad said it again! You have to punch him!" Maeve yelled after hearing Duncan's words.

And Gwen did punch Duncan. Even though 'bloody' doesn't count as a curse. "Yeah well, we're lucky I enforced that. I really don't want to deal with prissy mothers complaining about it. I already have enough already complaining to be because Maeve called someone a 'Jerk'." She claimed. "They can go to hell if they really thing I'm going to care." In that moment, Duncan quickly punched Gwen's arm as she groaned in pain. "What was that for, asshole!?"

"Those are the rules—I'm just enforcing it." Duncan responded before running into the pool so Gwen wouldn't punch him back ten times harder.

"Hey!" Gwen yelled as she chased after her husband before halting on the pool edge.

"Jump in the pool!" Eleanor stated, splashing some water on Duncan.

As Gwen stood at the edge of the pool, hands on her hips and a playful glare on her face, she had a gut feeling someone was behind her. Somehow, she just knew someone was going to push her into the pool and Maeve lunged forward, trying to shove her into the water,Gwen's instincts kicked in. She gracefully sidestepped, a smug grin across her face and in one swift motion, she turned and, with a playful shove, sent Maeve tumbling into the pool instead.

"Gotcha!" Gwen laughed, as she swiftly pushed Maeve splashed into the pool, laughter bubbling up alongside her.

Last day! It's been so fun writing these so review ur opinions about the story or critic it. However, if you are a comic artist do not interact with me unless you have something nice to say or feedback because I simply do not want to turn my pieces into comics.
