Chapter 7: The Heat of the Matter

Forte and Haru navigated through the intricate network of DEN City, following the data trail left by the wolf viruses. Their journey led them to an unexpected location - a quaint, virtual pizza parlor nestled in a quieter district of the city. The sign above read "Hino's Heatwave Pizza."

Inside, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with holograms of pizzas spinning above the tables. Forte approached the counter where a man with a friendly demeanor greeted him.

Kenichi Hino: "Welcome to Heatwave! What can I get for you?"

Forte didn't respond with an order but instead scanned the man's digital signature. It matched the origin of the virus's code.

Forte: "Are you Kenichi Hino?"

Kenichi: "That's me! Is there a problem with the service?"

Forte: "I'm not here for pizza. We need to talk about ."

Kenichi's face paled. "Heatman? What about him?"

Forte: "He's behind the recent virus attacks in the city. He's the Firestarter."

Kenichi's eyes widened in disbelief. "That can't be. Heatman wouldn't do that. He's one of the good ones!"

As if on cue, a figure materialized behind Kenichi. It was , a large, imposing figure with a body that seemed to radiate heat. His eyes flickered with a strange, unnatural light.

Heatman: "You dare accuse me, Forte? I'll show you fire!"

Kenichi, in a panic, quickly plugged out his avatar, leaving Forte and Haru to face Heatman alone.

The battle commenced with Forte launching his Buster Arm, sending energy blasts at Heatman. However, Heatman's Fire Arm was ready, countering with a wall of flames that consumed Forte's attacks.

Forte then tried his Hells Rolling Attack, his body turning into a spinning wheel of destructive energy. He rolled towards Heatman, but the heat from Heatman's body created a barrier, deflecting Forte's attack and sending him crashing into a holographic wall.

Heatman, with a menacing glow, advanced, his fiery aura intensifying. Forte, on the ground, looked up to see Heatman preparing a devastating fire attack.

Just as Heatman was about to unleash his power, Haru, who had been stealthily approaching from behind, leaped onto Heatman's back. With a soft glow, she activated her sleep-inducing ability. Heatman's eyes flickered, and his flames dimmed as he slumped, entering a deep digital slumber.

Forte, recovering, approached the dormant Heatman. With a touch, he initiated a deep scan:

The analysis revealed a viral fragment, unlike anything Forte had encountered, embedded within Heatman's core programming. This fragment was what had caused Heatman's erratic behavior.

Forte, with Haru still atop Heatman, focused on the virus. Haru's sleep power was not just about inducing sleep but could also be used to 'freeze' rogue code without deletion, essentially putting it in a state of permanent stasis.

Working together, they isolated the viral fragment. Haru's glow intensified, and with a final meow, the fragment was subdued, its malicious drive halted.

Heatman's eyes regained their normal light, and as he came to, he looked around in confusion.

Heatman: "What... what happened?"

Forte explained the situation, and Heatman, now aware of his actions, was filled with remorse.

Heatman: "I... I didn't know. I must have been infected. I'm sorry for the chaos I've caused."

Forte nodded, understanding the complexities of digital existence.

He turns to leave and Haru playfully meows at Heatman as the two of them disappear in the shadow of the back alleyway behind the building.
