The Curse of the Golden Master
The Ninja finally made it to the city, landing in the streets. But they were shocked to find it completely deserted.
They walked out into the streets and looked around. "What happened?" Kai asked.
"No power, that's what happened!" Cole answered.
"Are we too late?" Zane worried. They decided to look around but then Kai pulled a trip wire and a mountain of cars collapsed in front of them.
"What the heck!?" Seliel shouted in surprise.
Then they heard the sound of angry people as they looked up to see a mob of people dressed in post-apocalyptic clothing holding makeshift weapons.
"Outsiders must answer to the Postman!" A man shouted as he gestured to the mailman, who was wearing a commander's robe and a large ladle spoon in hand.
"Return, to SENDER!" He declared as the people cheered as Borg came up behind them when he saw the Ninja.
"Ah, you finally made it!" Borg said in elation as he wheeled down to them. "Don't mind the savages, since power went out everyone has grown a bit bored." He said as he gestured to the people looking a bit bored. "Their imagination knows no bounds," He complained as they went up to the group. He then saw a familiar face coming up to him and was surprised. "Pixal, amazing! You're... powered!"
"You need to stay in character, Borg," The mailman called out as he hit his spoon ladle on his hand. "This is no fun if we're not all committed," he added, which earned a look from Borg.
"Oh, I'll have you all committed if you don't all leave us at once. Now shoo!" Borg yelled as the crowd grumbled in complaints as they walked off. "We have real problems to address." He then turned to Pixal, who walked up to her creator. "Pixal, what's powering you?" He asked with a smile, wondering how his creation survived the blackout.
"Zane gave me half of his heart." Pixal answered, smiling at Zane.
Cyrus looked to Zane gratefully, "Thank you, Zane, Pixal means more to me than I could ever explain." Borg said as he held Pixal's hand. "I am eternally indebted to you," He added before he gave a worried expression. "Unfortunately, the Master Computer's hard drive was stolen with the digital imprint of the Overlord, you'll be unable to erase him with your Techno Blades until we find it."
"Aw, don't worry, we already have a little run in with our red-handed suspect." Jay said with a smile. "Or should I say white-handed." He said as he picked up the white scale. "He left behind a white scale. Get this, he's Serpentine."
Cole then went over to a manhole and opened it. "Lucky for us, the last Serpentine was sealed within a tomb right under the city." He said, having had information of what happened to the Serpentine since their absence during the Overlord's first attack with the Stone Army. "So it's about time we pay them a little visit." He added as they started climbing down.
"Approach with caution," Borg called out as he came next to Zane and Pixal. "I've also lost a few valuable prototypes," he pointed out that most of his inventions and tech prototypes are missing along with the hard drive when he checked what else Borg's Tower was missing. "Your suspect may be armed and extremely dangerous," He added in a worried tone.
Jay then called out with a smile as he was just about to enter the sewer. "We know, and just for the record," he said as he gave a fanboy smile at Borg, "when those prototypes are made available to the public, could you let me know?" he asked as he climbed down to the sewers while the others gave him a small smile in amusement. "They're just the coolest gadgets," he finished as he climbed down.
"Oh for the love of…you are such a tech nerd." Seliel commented as she climbed in after Jay.
Kai then climbed down next as Zane and Pixal are the last one as Zane gestured Pixal to go before him.
Before Pixal could climb down next, Borg spoke out to her. "Uh, Pixal, where are you going?" Borg asked out in confusion as Pixal stopped. "Now that my assistant has an unlimited power supply, there's an infinite amount of good to be done," He said as he tapped his hands together, having some ideas for Pixal with her improved capabilities.
Pixal looked to Zane, knowing he needed her to fight at his fullest. He nodded as she turned back to Borg,
"As you wish, Mr. Borg," Pixal said as she bowed with a small smile at her creator as Borg wheeled off.
Zane and Pixal looked at each other before Pixal walked off, reaching out to Zane before he went into the sewers.
"Watch your steps, girls." Cole told Nya and Seliel. "We don't know the last time this ladder was used." He advised.
"Thanks for the heads up blockhead." Seliel said as she kept climbing down.
"That's thoughtful of you, Cole." Nya said with a smile.
Jay heard that as he looked down a glare at Cole. "Hey! How about you watch where you're watching, Cole. Huh?" he questioned angrily.
And just then, Nya cried out in surprise as she felt two metal bars come off the ladder. She started dangling as she held onto the bar for her life.
"Aah! Aah! Uh, guys? A little help?" Nya called out to the others as she kicked her legs as she held on.
"Jay, I'm just being thoughtful. I thought we moved past this Perfect Match thing already!" Cole said in annoyance. "Besides, I've already got a lady!" He said without thinking.
Jay looked down in surprise by that. "You… already have a lady? Ha! Nice one, Cole! Just who is this lady?" He questioned.
Cole realizes what he said as he looked around nervously. "Uh, uh, I, it's, umm…?" He said nervously as he looked at Seliel and did something he was gonna regret. "It's Seliel!" He lied.
Seliel was caught off guard by this, "What?!" She said as she accidentally slipped and fell, causing her to fall on Jay causing them to crash into Cole and then Nya.
"Aah!" Nya cried out as the four of them landed on the floor, with her on the bottom.
"Oof!" They cried out as Kai and Zane looked down as they heard bars clanging and as they realized what happened.
The four groaned in pain and got up while Nya tapped her fingers on the ground in annoyance. "My knight in shining armor," She said sarcastically as she pushed them off and stood up as Kai and Zane jumped down beside them.
Seliel then got her bearings as she sat up and looked at Cole in slight anger. "Since when am I your lady?" She demanded.
Cole got nervous when he realized what he said. "Uh, well, you see," He tried to say before pulling her close for only her to hear, "Look, if Jay knows I've already got a girlfriend, he'll drop this whole me stealing Nya thing, I had to say something!"
"But putting me into the picture? I know you two are friends, but you and I just met, right?" Seliel reminded, "This might be a bad idea to get him to stop insulting you."
Jay then cleared his throat, "Well Cole, if you and your suddenly just-met girlfriend are legit, then you don't mind seeing a movie with me and Nya after this whole thing is over, do you?" He dared.
"Jay! You can't force Cole and Seliel into something like that!" Nya called out.
"Well it gives me a chance to see how well Cole can hold onto a girl who isn't you!" Jay argued as Seliel frowned.
"Hey! Watch it, Cole is ten times the boyfriend you could ever be!" Seliel yelled out, playing along with Cole's trick, "He's not only strong, he's also sincere, responsible and extremely loyal!" She took Nya's fan and approached Cole, who was nervous about what she was gonna do, "So I have absolutely no problem when I do THIS!" Seliel then grabbed Cole by the shoulder, pulled him close and covered their faces from view with the fan.
The boy's jaws dropped while Nya covered her mouth in shock, thinking Seliel was kissing Cole behind the fan.
"Whoa." Kai gasped as he shielded his eyes.
"How unexpected." Zane commented.
But little did they know she was having a face to face talk with him.
"Alright, I'll play along with this," Seliel whispered to Cole as she narrowed her eyes, "But remember Boulder Brains, you owe me big time for this." She warned him.
"Don't worry. I always keep my promises." Cole whispered nervously. "And besides, it was all I could think of at the time." He then blushed a bit, "Also, did anyone ever tell you that you have beautiful eyes?"
Seliel blushed a bit as she was surprised by Cole's question, not sure if he was acting or really telling the truth before she spoke. "Uh, thanks. Let's just get to the Serpentine already." She whispered as Cole nodded as she retracted the fan and turned them. "That answer your question, Bluebell?" She asked Jay with a dull look.
Jay was shocked by what he saw before he shook his head. "Uh, well, Yes?" He said uncertainty.
"Good, just name the time, place and movie then Me and Boulder Brains will be there." Seliel said before bringing out some glow in the dark rods, "Here, take these. They'll help us see down here." She told them, handing each of them a rod.
"Uh, thanks. So let's keep our eyes peeled and get back on track." Zane spoke as he gestured to the sewers. "Our mystery suspect could be anywhere down here." He said as they all began to start walking.
"The Serpentine, never thought I'd see them again," Kai commented as trekked through the direction of the tunnel. "Let's hope Rattalia was able to make them our friends since we last saw them."
"We haven't seen her since she left to find her people during the Stone Warrior Attack." Nya noted.
"Uh, you guys remember that she's an Anacondrai, right? She can turn invisible." Jay reminded them. "How do we know she isn't near us?"
"Uh, Jay, Rattalia is our friend. Why would she stay invisible near us?" Kai questioned.
"I'm just worried the Serpentine didn't turn her against us after these last 2 years." Jay worried as they kept walking down the tunnel.
Meanwhile, in White Cloak's lab, he was currently typing on a computer as the Overlord looked down at him,
"We know where the Ninjas of Yin and Yang are, so why are we doing nothing about it?" the Overlord questioned with exasperation of all this waiting. "I must escape this wretched digital prison!" he demanded.
"Patience. Your Daughter The Ninja of Yang won't go down without a fight, and we've already depleted our Electro-Cobrai supply." White Cloak told the Overlord gesturing to the few Electro-Cobrai he had left. "Before we take their powers, we need more power of our own."
Then find more!" the Overlord ordered. "Once I become physical again and rid the scourge that is the Ninja, I will walk Ninjago with the power to rule this world… and the realms beyond!" He declared.
"Don't worry," White Cloak said as he held out a pamphlet of an aquarium, which the front cover shows a shark and Electro-Cobrai on it. "I'm one step ahead of you," he said, having an idea on where to get more Electro-Cobrai.
With Garmadon, Misako, Lloyd and Melissa, they continue to walk through the dense jungle of Hiroshi's Labyrinth as Lloyd sighed.
"How anyone got through this jungle is beyond me." Lloyd complained.
"Yeah, no kidding." Melissa agreed.
"Hiroshi's Labyrinth," Misako said as Garmadon parted some leaves. "Legend says no one has ever escaped its deadly maze except for Hiroshi himself."
"Yes, but the maze is no match for any of your powers," Garmadon told the two as they walked deeper.
"This is the place to hide from the Overlord's clutches." Misako added.
"Hide from the Overlord. That's all we've ever seemed to do." Lloyd complained.
"Who knows what my father plans on doing with our power, and our friends could be in trouble." Melissa said, concerned about her friends and what her father has planned.
"Your power of Golden and Silver only strengthens his cause." Garmadon reminded them. "We must not lose sight."
"But we miss our friends." Lloyd said sadly.
"It's just not fair." Melissa spoke up as she whacked a leaf away. "We got these powers to defeat my father the last time, but now he wants them and we only make him stronger for his return? That's like we're a target for everytime like last time we faced him." She said,
"What good is being all powerful if we can't ever have any fun?" Lloyd questioned.
Garmadon let out a sigh before placing a hand on Lloyd's shoulder. "Power needs to be protected, honored. Evil forces will seek it, try to take it from their own. It seduces. Even your friends may one day covet it."
"Our friends would never hurt us." Lloyd stated firmly.
"If our friends were gonna hurt me, they would've done it when I revealed that The Overlord is my father." Melissa added.
"They who holds the power has a tremendous obligation." Garmadon said to them wisely.
"This coming from the guy who wants to possess the Golden Weapons and had control over the Stone Army." Melissa countered with a brow as Lloyd gave a chuckle, as did Misako.
Garmadon gave a small laugh. "I deserve that too." He said, seeing another point. "But you two must be prepared to handle this journey on your own."
"Even if it means without any of us one day." Misako said as Lloyd and Melissa looked at each other with frowns, knowing that they're right.
"Yeah, we know." Lloyd said with his head down.
"It's just… this whole running isn't right. What's the point in running from our problems?" Melissa questioned.
"Oh, keep your chins up, kids." Misako said to the two with a smile. "Legend also states there is a jewel inside the maze, the most beautiful oasis no one has ever seen before. Not even me."
"A jewel?" Melissa asked with a raised brow.
"Perhaps we will be the first." Garmadon suggested with a smile, which made the Ninjas of Yin and Yang smile.
"Well in the jungle we must wait till the dice read 5 or 8." Melissa joked.
"Are you remembering that old board game we used to play, Melissa?" Lloyd asked with a small smile to her.
"I heard they made it into a movie." Melissa said, as they made their way through the jungle.
Back underneath New Ninjago City, the Ninja finally reached their destination.
"The Tomb of the Stone Army," Kai said as they saw the door had several snake decorations on it. "It's been sealed since the Serpentine was trapped here." He stated.
Zane then approached the door, "It appears the seal has been opened." He noted before they heard whistling and turned around to see a familiar Hypnobrai slithering towards them, it was Skales.
Skales then saw The Ninjawhile he was dragging a bag. "What the, The Ninja?!" He exclaimed in shock.
"Skales. Something told me you'd be behind this." Cole said with a glare. "Search his bag!" He told the others.
Skales yelped as Jay took his bag while Kai restrained him, "Thisss isss harassssment! I've done nothing wrong." He insisted.
"Except steal the hard drive! Where is it? What are you hiding?!" Jay accused.
Kai began digging through the bag. "He's hiding... groceries?" he said in confusion and then pulled out a newspaper. "And the latest issue of Ninjago Times."
"What can I sssay? I like to keep myself updated on what goesss on above ground. Plus, I'm a big sssucker for the crosssssword," Skales said before taking his newspaper back. "Sssorry, but you've got the wrong sssnake."
"Daddy?" A voice spoke up as they turned to the door and coming out was a small Hypnobrai boy with a blue shirt and white pants coming out while Selma came out behind him. "Are you okay?"
"Ssstay inside, Sssskales Jr." Selma said to him while holding his shoulders.
"Skales Jr?" Kai repeated as Skales slithered up to his family. "You have a son?"
"We've been busssy sssince we've been trapped down here," Skales explained as he slithered up to his family. "And we prefer to keep it that way."
"What'ssss going on out here?" A voice was heard as the Ninja saw a very familiar Anacondrai slithering out from the door.
"Rattalia?" The Ninja, sans Seliel, asked in surprise while seeing their old Anacondrai Friend.
"My friendssss!" Rattalia exclaimed in surprise and joy seeing her old friends again. "It'sssss so good to ssssee all of you again!" She said, giving Nya a big hug.
"It's good to see you too, Rattalia." Nya said with a chuckle while wincing a bit. "And you've gotten stronger." She then noticed a crown on her head. "And I see, you're the leader of the Serpentine now."
Rattalia broke the hug as she looked at them. "Indeed. I found them sssometime back when the tomb wasss closssed. And when I opened it to free them, they welcomed me back with open armsss." She explained.
"Well, that's great to hear." Cole said.
"Isss thisss about the Golden Massster?" Skales Jr asked in worried as he held onto his father. "Isss he going to hurt usss?" He asked in fright.
"That isss only a ssstory, ssson," Skales assured his son as he gave him a comforting hug.
"Yeah ya little sssscamp." Rattalia said, patting his head. "They are jusssst friendssss of mine you trusssst your big ssssister do you?"
"I do." Skales Jr nodded.
"Sister?" Jay questioned in shock. "Wait, aren't you an Anacondrai?" He asked Rattalia.
"A lot hassss happened since the lassst time we ssssaw each other." Rattalia said, rubbing the back of her head. "You ssssee, when I firsssst reunited with the Sssserpentine, Skales and Selma took me under their wingsss when I reopened thissss tomb. And since then, they taught me much of our culture and I grew up to be the new leader of the Sssserpentine to help lead our kind to a better future."
"And over time me and Sssselma decided to make Rattalia part of our family." Skales informed.
"After all that she'ssss been through with Pythor she deservessss a family to love and care for her." Selma added, putting a hand on Rattalia's shoulder.
"Thankssss mother." Ratttalia said with a smile.
"Wow, now that's what I call a true hearted family." Seliel commented. "And heartfelt too." She added with a smile as the others nodded in agreement, glad that Rattalia found her place.
"Wait a minute, Golden Master?" Zane asked in confusion as he remembered what Skales Jr said, as did the others. "Is this about Lloyd?"
"Like you humansss, we Ssserpentine have our legendsss," Rattalia told Zane, "But I guessss in oursss, you humansss are the bad guysss."
"What Legends?" Nya asked in wonder.
"Yeah, because we never heard anything about a Golden Master." Seliel added.
Selma then turned to Rattalia and Skales, "They have a right to know." She said, "It'sss asss you sssaid Rattalia, if we're going to ssshed a new ssskin, we mussst open our home to othersss." She reminded Rattalia.
Rattalia nodded, "Yesss, I agree, any objections father?" She asked with a brow.
Skales knew he couldn't argue as he sighed. "No, of courssse not." He said as he and his family slithered back into the tomb as Rattalia smiled at him.
"Well, come along, Ninja. If you'd like to hear of the Curssse of the Golden Master, follow me." Rattalia said to them as she slithered back into the tomb with her.
"Other than Rattalia, I don't like Serpentine, but I don't like curses either," Kai said as he and the others followed after Rattalia. "But if this has anything to do with Lloyd, we need to know. And I have a feeling that when we see him and Melissa again, they need to know as well" He added as they entered the tomb.
Somewhere in an aquarium in New Ninjago City, Dareth and the students entered the building as Dareth took them on a field trip.
"We may not have power, but we still have sharks!" the Owner announced to the students inside the aquarium. The students were cheering in excitement of this feel trip as Dareth stood in front of them.
"All right, everyone. Stay together, stay together. Come on now," Dareth announced to the students as they calmed down a bit.
Brad came next to Dareth while not being excited about this trip. "Why do we have to do our field trip at the aquarium?" He asked about this not-so-exciting trip before facing Dareth with a smile. "Can't we go to the Toxic Bogs, or anywhere else not so lame?" He questioned as he crossed his arms together.
"Because until your regular teachers get back from saving the world, I'm in charge and I have the responsibility of making sure nothing bad happens to you," Dareth explained while combing his hair before he put it away and faced the students. "Now, single file," he called out to the students and formed a line as Brad followed as Dareth leaned on the table as he spoke to the last student, a girl, in line. "Did I ever tell you I am fluent in the language of the sea?" he asked her with a smirk.
"Right, Mr. Dareth," the girl answered with a smile.
"That's Mr. Brown Ninja to you, Sally," Dareth said while looking at his hand as she shook her head and kept walking, with Dareth following her. But what he did not know was that the barrier gate somehow moved on its own after Dareth moved through.
In the tunnel of the aquarium, the students were looking at the fish in wonder before a shark showed up and tried to eat the fish which swam away from the shark while startling the students.
"Oh! And I thought Mr. Dareth had a big mouth," one of the students commented in surprise as his friend next to him nodded in agreement.
"I heard that," Dareth called out with a small frown after he heard that comment as he turned to the security guard next to him as he cleared his throat. "Ahem. Excuse me. Which way to the Electro-Cobrai Exhibit? I hear it's shocking," he asked as he nudged the guard with a small smile at his pun.
The security guard sighed, having heard this joke before, as he pointed to a direction. "That way," he told him.
Dareth smiled as he called out to the students. "All right, all right, my precious minnows. Come on. Follow me," he called out as he walked ahead as the students started making chattering noises in excitement.
Alas, they did not notice that White Cloak suddenly appeared out of nowhere right behind Dareth and his students as he moved close behind them.
The students made it to the Cobrai exhibit as they saw tons of Electro-Cobrai in their tanks. "All right!" one of the students called out in excitement.
In the tunnel, the security guard took notice of White Cloak, knowing that he was not part of the students' field trip and that he did not see him come in.
"Hey, you! Come here," the security guard called out, but before he could walk closer, White Cloak disappeared again, which shocked the guard. "Whoa! Oh! Shocking," he said in surprise as he pressed the alarm button, but then remembered there was no power. "Hm? Alarm! Alarm! Alarm!" he called out, making his own alarm as loud as he could.
Dareth and his students heard the guard's voice as they grew worried.
"What is it?" Sally asked in worried.
"The sound of danger," Dareth said as he got serious as he turned to the student. "Huddle near, child," he told Sally as the dragoness got close to Dareth for protection as White Cloak appeared in front of them, opening the drain hatch on the floor. Dareth saw White Cloak as he spoke. "Hey, you're not one of my students," he called out to the stranger as the other students turned and saw him.
"No. No, I'm not," White Cloak answered as he turned and faced Dareth and his students as he brought out a whistle and started blowing it in a high-pitched whistle.
Dareth and the other students all started screaming from that high-pitched sound, which made the glass of the tank behind them start to crack before it cracked open, flooding the room and allowing the Electro-Cobrai to swim out.
"Hold on, minnows! Hold on!" Dareth called out to his students as they all held onto some debris.
Below them, the Electro-Cobrai are going down the drain that White Cloak opened up as the sharks in the tanks start swimming out.
"Help!" Sally called out as she was across the room from her classmates as she was struggling to swim.
"I've got you, Sally!" Dareth called out as he dived down and started swimming towards Sally. The sharks noticed their presence as Dareth got close to Sally as he grabbed her and started swimming back to the other students. The shark swam up as it got closer to them while the students started yelling at the sight of the predator fish.
"Stay back, kids!" Dareth yelled out as he pushed Sally to her classmates as he swam closer to the shark as Sally screamed at it.
But just when the shark was about to eat Dareth, he raised his hand for it to stop with its jaw opened. Soon, Dareth started making various animal noises while making sign language as he then leaned back into the water before he raised up again. As he kept making the noises and gestures, this caused the shark to look at him before swimming away at a fast pace, which caused the students to cheer Dareth for saving them from being eaten.
After swimming to the stairs as they got out, Dareth caught his breath from the adrenaline they went to as Sally stopped next to him.
"Thank you for saving me," Sally thanked Dareth. "You really can talk to them, what did you say?" she asked in amazement as Dareth caught his breath.
"I told him, 'Leave the Brown Ninja alone, or else I'd be serving fish sticks.'" Dareth said to Sally as they walked out with the other students.
However, the school group and Dareth failed to notice that all the Electro-Cobrai were still going down the drain and through the tubes.
In the sewers, the Electro-Cobrai from the aquarium were going through a tube filled with a big tank as White Cloak looked at the tank.
"The heist is complete," White Cloak said to his two comrades next to him and the Overlord on the console. "We now have enough power to go after the Golden and Silver Ninjas," he told his master.
"Good," The Overlord said in satisfaction as the two started laughing maniacally as their boat started moving through the sewers down a tunnel.
Back underground, the Ninja and Seliel are following Rattalia through a newly Serpentine village with Skales and his family beside her, which surprised them by the structure they made.
"After what happened with thosssse Stone Warriorssss, the Sssserpentine moved on with their warring passst." Rattalia explained. "And manage to find waysss to help better ourssselves." She explained.
"You're not thugssss. You give hugssss." A hypnobrai said to two Constrictai.
"Try again." A Venomari said to Fangtom. "It will be our pleasssure."
"It will be… Our pleassssure." Fangtom said in a bit of a strain voice while trying to say it right.
"Wow, you're doing a good job here, Rattalia." Nya complimented.
"It wassss hard at first, but we managed to pull it through." Rattalia said with a smile. "We've alsssso added ssssome other placessss assss well. Hospitalsss, Food Sssstandsss and even a Sssllither Pit."
"I thought you said you snakes put aside the fight." Cole said in confusion.
"We did, but that doessssn't mean we don't need entertainment." Rattalia answered. "And the Ssslither Pit hassss been around longer before any war for ssssome fun."
"I guess that makes sense." Cole said with a shrug.
"So you got a few snakes to go straight doesn't mean there's not one bad apple." Kai said with a shrug. "Hypnobrai and Fangpyre have white scales, don't they?" He asked her.
"Well, a few." Rattalia confirmed. "Isss thisss about the missing hard drive you told me about?"
"It's much more than that I'm afraid." Zane explained.
"And why isss that?" Rattalia asked.
"It's about the Overlord." Jay answered.
"The Overlord?!" Skales said in surprise and shock by this, now understanding why they were looking for it. "Glad we weren't around for that messss," he remarked.
"And I guessss I was lucky I was out of the ssssurface for a while." Rattalia said with a shudder as she was lucky to avoid the Overlord's attack when she went out to find the other Serpentine. "No, we have no desssire to meddle in the affairsss above. No Sssserpentine leavesss thisss village without my hearing of it."
"And asss you can sssee, we ssstick to our own," Skales said as he huddled close with his family. "We only want what'sss best for the next generation." He said while placing a hand on his son's shoulder and Selma putting a hand on Rattalia's shoulder.
Rattalia then brought them to a building that described their legends, "But for now, I think it'sss time you all underssstand the Curssse of the Golden Massster."
"How do you know about this curse?" Kai asked.
"When I returned the elderssss explained what the cursssse was, and I wassss shocked, jussst listen to the sssstory and you'll ssssee what I mean." Ratttalia explained as they all took their seats around the fire pit.
Then slithering in were the four Serpentine Elders, "Hello hatchlings, and camouflaged sssurface dwellerssss." The Hypnobrai Elder greeted, "Do you ssseek to learn of the cursssse of the Golden Massster?" She asked.
"Tell me! Tell me!" Jay said excitingly with his arm raised.
The Venomari elder let out a chuckle as he approached the fire, "Everyone come closer." He said as he leaned closed to the fire before spitting his venom into it.
Along the walls, images dance from the shadows and lights of the fire, "When the First Spinjitzu Master created Ninjago, deep in the ground, he created the Serpentine." The Hypnobrai Elder started as an image of the First Spinjitzu Master, holding a sword, making a Serpentine rise up from the ground.
"Since the first dawn, our elders knew of the Curse of the Golden Master, when he who had the powers equal to the First Spinjitzu Master would rise and usher in the last of the setting suns." The Venomari Elder continued as behind five Serpentine was a large shadowy figure wearing golden armor with a dark aura rose up behind him.
"With no equal adversary, his power will go unmatched. His destructive rule will change the face of the world, and he will not stop until every man, woman and every Serpentine are enslaved under his control." The Constrai Elder said as the five Serpentine ran away as the Golden Master used his powers to destroy everything around him.
The Ninja listened to the story and were surprised by this legend. "Are they referring to Lloyd?" Zane asked his friends in confusion.
They all shrugged from this as they are not certain. Sure, Lloyd had Golden Power, but not completely sure if they are referring to him.
"The Serpentine tried to warn the land dwellers, but they wouldn't listen. They thought we were the enemy." The Fangpyre Elder explained as the Serpentine shadows were seen talking to some humans before they were chased off by thrown spears and stones as the Golden Master rose up again. "Though we were only trying to prevent the propshey of the Golden Master's Terrible reign."
And then the shadows then showed a defeated Great Devourer with some humans on top of it looking victorious "After the Great Devourer failed to scare the unbelievers below ground, it is we who retreated beneath the soil, promising never to return, even now that the end is inevitable." The Venomari Elder finished as the shadows showed the Serpentine locking themselves underground as the Golden Master rose up one last time before the fire faded out.
At the top of Borg's Tower, in the top office, Borg patching a bare Pixal up into a control panel, placing a plug on Pixal's chest where the half of Zane's heart was installed.
"First patch into the mainframe…" Borg started as he carefully placed the plug on Pixal's chest. Once it is secured, Borg pressed a button as power from Zane's heart inside Pixal is being transferred into the panel. "Success! Suppress bandwidth for wider connection…We have power!" He declared as he smiled at this as the panel powered up completely.
"By glory grace my office is clean, untouched by evil power!" Borg cheered happily as he gave a kiss on Pixal's cheek. "Thank you, Pixal," he thanked his assistant, who nodded with a smile.
"Now we can use this to track the Nindroid presence, and they won't see us coming." Borg said happily.
Pixal then had a thought in her head as she spoke. "Mr. Borg, you created me and gave me life. I belong to you," she started as Borg turned to her she continued. "Yet Zane… saved my life," she said as she gave a loving smile at the thought of Zane as the warmth feeling inside of her grew stronger. "When I was with him, I felt… a connection. I felt… free."
Borg then gave Pixal a longing look. "Pixal, I think it's time you understand something." He said as she listened, "You see after hearing how Zane's father built him, I took inspiration from him to create you as the one thing I have always wanted: A child."
Pixal looked surprised by what Borg said to her. "You mean, you didn't create me as just an assistant?" She asked.
"No, Pixal. I created you to be my daughter." Borg answered with a smile. "Since my days were spent so long in my lab and inventions, I never had time to go out and start a family, I had hoped that I would be able to remedy that with you but, no matter how advanced your programing was I, just couldn't give you the emotion a proper young girl should have." He explained solemnly before smiling at her, "But now, when I look at you, if I ever had a daughter then you are everything she could have been."
Pixal gave a joyful smile at what Borg said to her. "I, I am still wondering how I have emotions now. If you said you couldn't give me them before, yet, I suddenly have them." She said while placing a hand over the cable where her heart is.
"When did you start developing emotions, Pixal?" Borg asked her in wonder. "Because when I first created you, you were just like any other robot."
"After I discovered Zane's power source and I attempted to study it further, I came in contact with it and before long I started developing human emotion." Pixal explained as she brought her hands together, "And when Zane gave me half of his power source, the emotions only increased so now, I am conflicted on where I belong."
Borg frowned, "Pixal remember this: you are your own person, and as such you belong to one," He said before giving a warm smile, "So if you want to be with Zane then, you should be with him."
He was then surprised as Pixal quickly moved over and hugged him, "Thank you and I'm glad you created me…father." Pixal said warmly.
Borg gave a warm smile as he returned the hug. "You are welcome, my daughter." He said they shared the hug. "Though, maybe I should've let you keep your clothes on when patching the cord to your chest. You are my child, not a battery." He said sheepishly.
"I do not mind." Pixal said, still hugging her father as Borg chuckled and continued the hug.
Just then, beeps started going off in the computer as they broke the hug. "What? Nindroid power signatures." Borg said in surprise. "But this is impossible," He then starts seeing on the screen as more red dots appear. "It says they're right here. Twelve feet, eight feet… This makes no sense," He remarked with great concern.
Pixal then had a thought in her head of why it says the Nindroids are here when they are not as she turned to her father. "Unless they're beneath us," She theorized as Borg realized that the Nindroid were after the Ninja, who were right underneath the building.
Back at the Serpentine Village, the Ninja were still surprised by what they've learned. "I can't believe that they think Lloyd could be the Golden Master." Kai said in shock.
"Well, he is the son of Lord Garmadon." Jay said with a shrug, remembering when Garmadon was evil, no surprise Lloyd will turn out like that.
"And let's not forget that Melissa is the daughter of the Overlord." Cole added. "She got her powers from him after all."
"What I want to know is, if none of them took the hard drive, who else could it be?" Nya asked, getting back on topic about the missing hard drive.
"Well, whoever it is, we're back to square one." Seliel said with a sigh and her arms crossed.
"Sssso why do you asssume it'ssss one of my people who sssstole the hard drive?" Rattalia asked as she and Skales slithered up to them.
"We found this white scale the suspect left behind." Nya answered as she held up the white scale. "Pixal analyzed that it was Serpentine, but we don't know which one, that's why we're here."
Rattalia grabbed the white scale and used her tongue to sniff it and when she did she gasped in horror. "No! I-It can't be! H-He can't be alive!" She said fearfully.
Skales then sniffed the scale and his eyes widened in shock. "What?! But that'ssss impossssible! How issss he sssstill alive?!" He questioned as the Ninja looked at them in confusion.
"What? Do you know who this scale belongs to? Who is it?" Kai asked.
But before either snake could answer, a Venomari came in with a panicked look. "We're under attack! Protect the young!" He called out.
The Serpentine all started screaming in panic as a battalion of Nindroids came into the village, holding out their swords.
"Nindroids!" Cole called out as many Serpentine parents then started grabbing their children and running to their homes for safety.
"Ugh! These toasters never know when to quit," Jay groaned from the Nindroids, really annoyed by them as the Nindroids charged at them with their swords out.
Rattalia looked to the Ninja pleadingly, "Please! Help us sssubdue thesssse tin-plated interloperssss!" She begged.
Kai sighed as he spoke. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but… Protect the Serpentine!" he yelled out to the others.
"NINJA, GO!" The boys, except Zane, did Spinjitzu as they charged at the Nindroids, leaving Zane behind with Rattalia.
"What are you waiting for, Zane? Go help them! Ssspin!" Rattalia urged.
"I would if I could. But Pixal has the other half of my power source, without her my technique is barely adequate," Zane lamented, his power source having crippled his ability to help.
Skales then rushed up to Zane furious, "What evil have you brought here?!" he demanded.
"Sorry about that," Zane apologized to Skales. "We didn't know we were being followed," he said in defense.
"It doesn't matter!" Rattalia shouted as she pushed Skales away from Zane. "Father, you and the other Generalsss jussst focusss on getting our people to sssafety ssso the Ninja can deal with thisss!" She ordered.
"Got it!" Skales bowed as he slithered off to do just that.
Nya faced a Nindroid as she brought out her Tessen. The Nindroid swiped his sword at her, which she blocked it repeatedly in grunting efforts while dodging the Nindroid's attacks before she bucked it away in a distance.
Seliel then brought out her glaive as she blocked a Nindroid's strike as the two clashed before she managed to kick his hand, which sent the sword flying as it landed in her hand as she held both weapons. "Uh oh." The Nindroid muttered.
"Uh oh is right, Scrap Brain." Seliel said as she then sliced and diced at the Nindroid's before she kicked him away. "Well that was fun." She said to herself before the Nindroid stood back up again. "Oh come"
Selma looked for her son before she saw him running towards her. "Junior? Junior!" She cried out in worry as she held out her hands to her son.
"Mommy! Aah!" Skales Junior cried out before he tripped and fell to the ground as Cryptor lifted him off as Skales Junior looked at him fearfully.
Cryptor laughed at Skales Junior. "So you two are the future of the fearsome Serpentine?" He taunted him, having learned from the history about Skales and the Serpentine. "Please, you're nothing but a joke!"
Selma looked worried and nearly panicked that her son was about to get hurt as Cryptor continued to laugh and draw closer to Skales Junior. Suddenly, Kai appeared as he kicked Cryptor in the head. The General found himself surrounded by the Ninja.
"And you're about to be history," Kai said angrily as Junior made it to his mother who ran with him to safety while the Ninja faced Cryptor.
Cryptor cracked his neck as he laughed at the Ninja in challenge.
"Let's get 'em, guys," Cole said to the others as they put on their masks as they all tackled Cryptor to the ground.
But then Cryptor used his strength to get them off him as he got up with a laugh as he picked up Cole by his legs as he then tossed him away as Cole yelled from the toss.
Zane then starts picking up Jay while Kai got himself up. "Hey, thanks," Jay thanked Zane for helping.
But then, Cole crashed on Zane before they landed on the others, groaning from the impact.
"Whew," Cole sighed in relief.
Nya sighed and Seliel's face palmed at how sad this was.
The Ninja got up as they took stances. "If we could figure out what powered them, this would all be a whole lot easier," Jay pointed out.
Cryptor laughed as he and his troops came charging at the Ninja, drawing swords at them while taking their battle stances.
The Ninja gasped as they all took off in different directions as the Nindroids followed each of them while growling.
Kai then did a jump flip on a stalagmite and did a kick as he bucked some Nindroids back.
Cole did a jump kick on Nindroids that got Nya cornered as he kicked them back.
"Uh… oh," Nya said in surprise.
"Ha, ha!" Jay cheered as he turned to Nya, as he was smiling under his mask.
Cole ran up against a wall before flipping over a Nindroid chasing him. In mid-flip, he saw the Electro-Cobrai container on its back as he pulled out the plug attached to its head. The Nindroid immediately powered down and fell to the floor.
"Hey! They're powered by some sort of eel thing inside their backs!" Cole called out to the others about his discovery.
The others then followed Cole's lead as they all started pulling the plug out of the Nindroids, causing them to power down.
"NINJA, GO!" they all cried out as they did Spinjitzu, except for Zane, as they all started pulling the plugs off all the Nindroids.
They all stopped as a Nindroid behind Jay growls as Jay screamed in surprise. But as the Nindroid was about to swipe its sword at the Blue Ninja, it powered down as Jay lowered his hands as he saw Nya with the plug in her hand.
Nya laughed from that as Jay laughed back as he then tapped the depowered Nindroid to the side as it tilted, falling onto the other Nindroids which fell like dominos as the others watched. In the end, Cole got piled by powerless Nindroids before he jumped out while the others are cheering for their victory.
And then, Zane felt something grab one of his legs. "Huh?" he said in confusion as he turned to the only remaining powered Nindroid looking at him with purple eyes.
"Foolish Nindroid, you are helping the wrong side," the Overlord's voice spoke through the Nindroid.
"The Overlord?" Zane asked in surprise from this as he glared down. "You'll never succeed. Not if we have anything to say about it," he said to the Overlord as the others came to him as they all glared at the possessed Nindroid.
"I already have," the Overlord said as he gave an evil laugh. "You've unknowingly led me straight to my daughter and the Ninja of Yang. And this was merely a diversion to keep you busy," He said, which made the others surprised and shocked by this as the Overlord started laughing evilly.
Zane had enough of him as he ripped out the plug with a grunt, the Nindroid powering down to get the Overlord to stop talking.
Skales, Rattalia and the Venomari Elder came to them as they heard what the Overlord just said. "The boy and girl holdsss too much power. I fear the curssse of the Golden Massster isss upon ussss," Skales said with great worry and fear now that The Overlord knew where to find Lloyd and Melissa.
"The dawn of the end of timesss isss near," The Venomari Elder added.
The Ninja walked up to Rattalia as Nya spoke. "We have to get to Lloyd and Melissa before they do," she said, wanting to save their friends before their enemies get them first. "Are you sure you won't help us?" She asked her.
"I'm sssorry, Nya." Rattalia spoke. "But my people made an oath to never return to the Sssuface, but asss their leader I mussst go alone," She then turned to Skales. "Father you are in charge until I return, make assure nothing elssse get down here." She ordered.
"I undersssstand what you have to do. Good luck, my daughter." Skales nodded.
Rattalia nodded as she and the Ninja began to walk out. "Why so eager to help us anyway, Rattalia?" Jay asked.
Rattalia turned to him in concern, "Becaussse thisss attack and seeing what thessse Nindroidsss are powered by, confirmsss what I was afraid of." She explained, before giving a stern look. "Ssso I'm going with you because thissss isss personal."
"Why is it personal for you?" Seliel asked.
"Because there isss only one Ssserpentine I know of that'sss had a hissstory of being ssso fond of experimenting with Electro-Cobrai!" Rattalia said in dread.
"Who!?" The Ninja all cried out desperately as Rattalia was about to answer, urging her to finish on who the white hood stranger is.
In Hyroshi's Labyrinth, The Garmadon Family and Melissa continue through the jungle before they find an oasis with a waterfall.
"The jewel of the Labyrinth." Garmadon spoke up with a smile.
"We found it." Misako said in awed.
"It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen." Lloyd said with a smile.
"You took the words out of my mouth." Melissa said with a smile as well.
"Yes. Beauty can be born even in darkness." Garmadon said with a smile as they watched the oasis as he held Misako's hand.
"You know Lloyd, in any other situations this would be a very good romantic hangout." Melissa said to her boyfriend with a small flirty smile.
Lloyd gave a smirk to Melissa. "If we remember to come back here, Melissa." He said, which made Melissa giggled as his parents watched with smiles.
"Just like when we were their age, huh, dear?" Misako asked with a smile.
"Yes, just like us." Garmadon agreed with a smile.
But then, the moment was interrupted when they heard buzz saws as they turned and saw some trees were being chopped off.
"They've found us." Misako said in dread.
"How did they find us?!" Melissa questioned. "I thought this place would be hard to find us!"
"It doesn't matter. You two must leave! Go!" Garmadon said to the Ninjas of Yin and Yang as he and Misako walked forward.
"But-" Melissa tried to say.
"I said leave!" Garmadon yelled firmly, which made Melissa and Lloyd flinch as they rushed off before him and Misako turned and saw a vehicle where Techno Wu was on as he jumped off and clashed with Garmadon.
"Wu?!" Misako asked, shocked to see her brother-in-law in this state.
"Why must we always be on opposite sides brother?" Garmadon questioned. "I may not be able to fight, but I can still defeat you." He added as he took a ready stance.
"Not without me, Dear!" Misako said as she stood next to Garmadon as Wu narrowed his eyes at them.
Garmadon aimed his staff at his brother, "Do you still remember how to battle?" He asked his wife.
"Did you forget who defeated who in our youth?" Misako asked with a smirk.
Garmadon gave a small chuckle. "Yes. Well, I confess, I wasn't really trying." He admitted.
"Neither was I." Misako answered with a smile as she and her husband as well as Techno Wu took ready stances.
After a brief moment of staring each other down, they all jumped up and struck each other. While Garmadon just blocks and dodges Techno Wu's strikes, Misako kicks Techno Wu back when there was an opening as the two Garmadons fight their controlled brother.
Garmadon blocked another strike when Techno Wu jumped and tried to kick him before Garmadon jumped on a tall tree and swung on a vine, twirling over as Techno Wu followed him before Garmadon blocked Techno Wu's staff again while Misako tackled Techno Wu to the ground as they fought before Misako pinned Wu to the ground.
"Looks like you're in your brother's old position, huh Wu?" Misako said teasingly before slamming the back of his head into her before flipping her off before Garmadon caught her, "My hero." She said with a smile.
"My angel." Garmadon returned the gesture as the two faced Techno Wu as he was about to strike again.
Lloyd and Melissa managed to climb up from a hill, but then they saw a group of Nindroids in front of them as they walked towards the two.
"Oh, I really hate these things." Melissa groaned in frustration. "We can't use our powers and we're outnumbered. How do we even beat them?"
Lloyd thought about what to do until his eyes widened as he had an idea. "Hey Melissa, remember what we did a few months ago during our date?"
"That depends on which part and why are you bringing this up?" Melissa asked.
"Well, remember that little race we did?" Lloyd asked with a smirk as Melissa's eyes widened as she now realized what he meant.
"Oh, that one." Melissa said with a smirk as well. "I seem to remember you eating my dust."
"Oh, don't start. I let you win." Lloyd said before they saw the Nindroids walking towards them. "But let's focus on getting out of here first."
"Gotcha." Melissa nodded as she and Lloyd then focused their powers.
Garmadon and Misako saw this while in a standstill with Wu. "Lloyd, Melissa, don't!" Misako yelled out, thinking they were gonna use their powers on the Nindroids.
"Trust in the balance!" Garmadon called, but what shocked them and the enemy was that Lloyd and Melissa used their powers to make two Motorcycles, one with green details with golden blades for Lloyd, the other with purple details with silver blades for Melissa.
The Nindroids backed away in shock as Lloyd and Melissa put on their hoods. "Let's roll, Lloyd!" Melissa called.
"Way ahead of ya!" Lloyd nodded as they used their motorcycles to rev over his family fighting as they drove off further into the jungle.
As the Ninjas of Yin and Yang revved up through the jungle, the Nindroids followed them in flight two bobbed and weaved through the tree as the Nindroids tried to follow their patterns, but they were either pushed back or crashed into the tree lines as Lloyd and Melissa speed up and just lost two Nindroids.
But then a squad of them started coming right in front of them as they moved out of the way as the Nindoirds fired at them, but then they sped up as the Nindroids crashed into each other when they tried to get close to them.
Melissa looked ahead as she spotted something. "Cliff!" She called out as Lloyd looked ahead and saw that they were heading straight for the end of the road.
The two applied their brakes just in time and stopped at the edge of the cliff. Then from the other side they see the Mech Dragon, repaired and powered by Electro-Cobrai, flying before them and in its mouth they see both Garmadon and Misako tied together with Techno Wu next to them.
"Mom! Dad!" Lloyd called out in worry.
"Uh oh!" Melissa said in concern.
"Go, kids!" Misako exclaimed.
"And never look back!" Garmadon added as Lloyd and Melissa were conflicted in leaving them behind.
"Flee, and the Golden Ninja's parents fall, Daughter!" The Overlord spoke up through the Mech Dragon.
"Whatever you have planned, it's not gonna work father!" Melissa told the virus, "As long as Lloyd and I are together, we are stronger than ever!"
"Then what happens when the Golden Ninja isn't around my daughter?" The Overlord questioned as Lloyd and Melissa got off their vehicles as they faced the Overlord.
"I would never leave Melissa behind! Not now, not ever!" Lloyd called as Melissa smiled as the two focused their powers they were about to use on the Overlord, not caring if it will make him stronger as long as they save Lloyd's parents.
"Are you sure about that?" The Overlord questioned, just then a robotic snake flew through towards them and wrapped around Lloyd, knocking him over and sending him rolling over the edge.
"Lloyd!" Melissa called as she rushed towards him but then got tangled in a snake of her own and fell to the floor as Lloyd went over and screamed, "No!" She yelled as she tried to break free.
"Don't ssstruggle, it'sss vengessstone," The Hooded stranger said as he walked towards Melissa.
"Wait, I know that voice." Melissa said in shock, recognizing the stranger's voice, as the hooded figure removed his hood.
"Hello, little girl." He spoke as it was revealed to be a familiar male Anacondrai, who is now bleach white.
"Pythor!" Melissa exclaimed in shock. "B-But I thought you were-?!"
"Dead?" Pythor finished for her. "Truth isss, I sssuffered the worssse fate. Digested in the bowels of the Devourer." He stated while looking at himself, which made Melissa cringed at the thought. "It can wreak havoc on one'sss complexion." He added as he looked at his now bleach body. "Fortunately for Wu, he essscaped unssscathed." He finished while gesturing to Techno Wu.
"Finally, the Ninja of Yin, my Daughter, is mine." The Overlord said with glee as Pythor led Melissa onto the Mech Dragon.
"Well, I hate to break it to you father but without Lloyd there's no way you're gonna get that power." Melissa reminded her father in a firm tone.
"Oh no, no, no, my daughter, you still don't understand." The Overlord said with glee. "Even without the Golden Ninja, your power alone, my physical form shall be restored. And when it does, I'll hunt down another source of the Golden Power if I can't find the Golden Ninja again! And then, the transformation shall be complete!"
Melissa gasped in shock as she turned to Garmadon and Misako. "Misako, Garmadon, I'm sorry. We couldn't leave you two. We couldn't do this alone." She said in guilt. "I'm sorry."
"It's okay, Melissa." Misako said gently to her.
"It is we who fail-" Garmadon tried to say before he was cut off.
"The old fools are no longer of importance to me. Throw them overboard." The Overlord ordered.
"NO!" Melissa yelled as Techno Wu tossed Garmadon and Misako off the Mech Dragon. "MISAKO! SENSEI!" SHe cried out as the two fell into the water. Melissa began to sob as she not only lost her boyfriend, but his parents as well as tears began to fall from her face.
"Grieve not, my daughter, you will soon be joining them." The Overlord said to her sadistically.
Melissa with tears in her eyes glared at her father through the eyes of the dragon "I hate you! You hear me father?! HATE YOU!" She yelled in rage.
"Yes. I can taste your wrath. And it is delicious." The Overlord mocked as Techno Wu and Pythor pushed her inside the Mech Dragon as it took off into the horizon.
On the ocean, a golden flash appeared while coming out of the water was Lloyd in his golden dragon with his parents riding on it as it flew over the cliff and back onto solid ground as they got off his dragon as it vanished.
"Thanks, son." Garmadon said as he and Misako took heavy breaths.
"No problem." Lloyd told his parents before looking off to where the Mech Dragon flew off. "And now I have to save Melissa."
"Lloyd, it's too dangerous." Misako tried to say.
"No, not this, Mom. Not now." Lloyd said firmly.
"Son, if the Overlord gets your powers, he'll be unstoppable." Garmadon
"I don't care!" Lloyd shouted, which made his parents flinch. "Melissa is more than just the love of my life, she's the bestest friend in the whole wide world and the only one who was there for me when you two weren't!" He yelled with glare as his parents looked visibly hurt and Lloyd realized what he said. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean-"
"No, Lloyd. It's alright." Garmadon said in understanding. "It was my own fault for making you both try to stay away from the problem instead of facing it. Which apparently until now, it didn't work."
"And you are right that we were never there for you when we dropped you off at the school." Misako said as she and Garmadon walked up to their son. "But we are grateful of who you become and are also grateful that Melissa stood by you from the beginning." She said with a smile.
"We will save Melissa, Son. Be strong for her." Garmadon said with a smile.
"You're right, we will save her and I think I have an idea." Lloyd said with a smile as his parents huddled close as he began to whisper the plan to them. The Overlord may have Melissa to escape the Digiverse, but Lloyd has a plan that could save her.
